Happy Experiment Appreciation Day! 👽

Oh, yes, I'm still going to keep this tradition I established going. The genetic experiments are one of the many unique things of the Lilo & Stitch franchise, and they've been around since the very beginning. Experiments like Chopsuey (X-621) from the PlayStation 2 prequel game, the early version of Reuben (X-625) from the Disney Adventures prequel comics, or... you know, Stitch (X-626) himself.

Snartles (the most common one, and still one of my favorite design. It's the pants and suspenders.)

Every night you dream that you talk to a genie, when you wake up you can't remember what you wished for. One morning you wake up with a giant crab pincer replacing your right arm. What do you do?

You where both mesmerized and horrified.

Staring at what once was your right arm now replaced with a crab pincer, it felt oddly satisfing– as of it always belonged there.

You were lucky that today was the start of the weekend, that you didn't have to go to work and explain the obvious, bit you couldn't stay in bed all day either, to your disappointment.

So getting out of bed was an ordeal and putting on clothes was a whole nightmare.

They would rip and tear because of how big the pincer was or when you accidentally tugged your pants to hard that they would get destroyed.

(Those where your favorite pair of pants damn it!)

Eating was another problem, the fact that the urge of swiping your claw at the plate of food was annoying you– why was it so hard to grab the damn fork and eat the eggs?!

Maybe eating could wait, so you decided to leave towards the beach that was next to your house.

It was still early morning so no one would arrive yet, you would have time to think.

At the beach you watched the waves bump into each other letting them splay out on to the shore.

A little crab walked past your feet, clicking its pincers at you before being tossed by the waves that reached it.

Looking at the early morning sun you think back, what could have caused this change?

But nothing came to mind but that dream you've constantly been having for a while.

A genie.

The dream always started the same, you wake up in a dark place with a lamp emitting smoke and a genie appears.

It asks you what you wish for,with an outstretched hand it gives you the floor and then–

And then...

What happens next?

You don't remember what you wish for.

(How annoying this is...)

Shaking your head you decide to go back home, this was to much thinking for either way.

That night you dream of the genie– (it sneers at you as if mocking you) and it ends in the same way.

Waking up you where horrified to find out to see you left leg replaced with a crab leg.

Bright red with patches of pink and white, joints like a doll and pointy ends.

When you went to sleep again later that day you would later find that you other arm had been replaced with a smaller pincer.

You stopped sleeping.

Day, by day, by day horrified of sleep you forced yourself to stay awake.

With three limbs replaced you didn't want to know what would happen next, so... you stayed awake.

Stay awake, stay awake, stay awake–

Time sure does fly fast. Another year has come and gone in a blink of an eye, it’s a wonder how fast it’s past it almost seem just yesterday it was still 2019 but now it’s the end of 2021 and were going to 2022! Stay safe out there have an amazing start of the year!

Hi there Modmad! My name's blubird513, and i'm a big fan of your work as well as an artist myself. Anyways I wanted to ask, how did you develop your skills in world building, especially in your work of TPoH? What advice can you give for that?

a lot of reading, a lot of writing, and a lot of patience- very much a thing learned via doing and getting experience on the ground floor. I wish there was a book about it I could recommend but if there is one I don’t know it! just read a lot, write a lot, and listen to the characters/follow instincts you have- and do that basically forever.
