hi, you have such an incredible sense of spacing and style and i was just wondering if you had any top 5 (or however many you'd like!) tips on island design or decoration that you tend to use?

Hi there! Thank you! 😊 I’m assuming you’re asking about general tips that can be applied to any theme. I believe my process for island design has been the same no matter what theme I choose. I’ve always enjoyed making buildings in game. This is where I start off first.

My 5 tips (I will do 5 to make it simple) would be :

1. Choose a color scheme (whatever color palette you like. If you’re going for consistency throughout your island it’s important you don’t get tired of the colors)

2. Look up furniture items that have the color variant you want.

3. Think of a place/building/scene that inspires you. You can use inspiration from media/books/real life.

4. Remember, you can do a lot with very little. If patterns overwhelm you, make the most out of pairing your items so they tell a story. This all depends on what theme you’re going for.

5. When it comes to spacing items, this really depends on what vibe you’re going for. I use the camera app in game to look at my areas from different angles, this helps me see my blind spots that i didn’t know were bare.

When it comes to natural landscaping, I’m fairly new. I’ve mostly done citycore islands and I’m still learning and improving my decorating and island design skills. 😅
