asjdfha anon i'm screaming ily 💖💖💖 okay i just went back through my 5x16 tag because i was convinced i'd talked about this at least in the tags before but evidently i haven't???

tbh the thing that makes that scene for me is the use of carry you. 911 rarely (if ever??) reuses songs and the fact that they chose that one was so deliberate and so fucking perfect because it draws such an incredible parallel with the scene in eddie begins

in eddie begins when that song is playing we see eddie’s life flash before his eyes as he’s drowning. we see christopher and shannon and buck and so many moments of happiness and all of this is enough to gives eddie the strength he needs to find his way to the surface. he survives because, in his own words, he’s, “always gonna fight to come home to my family.”

(and we know the significance this moment had for eddie re: the decision he makes about his will)

in 5x16 we see the same thing but from a completely different perspective. eddie in 5b is metaphorically drowning - made clearer by the inclusion of that in eddie’s nightmare in 5x14 - he can barely keep his head above water specifically because he’s cut himself off from his support system. he’s on the mend by 5x16 with buck’s help and therapy but he’s still not on solid ground. so the choice to have carry you play at this crossroads moment where eddie is thrown back with his team, where he’s back working side by side with his partner, - but still not completely - is so poignant.

he watches bobby and the team walk off with a kind of awe on his face and linda’s smile is so knowing as she tells him, “god has spoken.” and i think she plays such a key role in that scene, offering eddie the permission he’s been waiting for. there’s something so gentle about it, y’know? the unspoken way she tells him, “it’s okay. you can go, they’re waiting for you” because ultimately that’s all he needs before he allows himself to go back

and it’s just!!!!!

carry you is playing. he’s finally on solid ground again. eddie’s fought and now it’s time for him to go home to his family ❤️

Bi Buck cured my writers block, please have this short little episode coda for 7x04. [Read on AO3]

It’s after one a.m. when the light, bubbly excitement in his stomach sours, fear creeping in. Buck’s next breath sticks in his chest, his heart races, his fingers start tingling, and it’s so much like what kissing Tommy did to him, but for all the wrong reasons this time. His phone screen is suddenly too bright in the darkness, his search history a towering mess of questions, and Reddit threads, and quizzes he clicked into then out of before he could finish taking them.

The problem, he thinks, is that it felt so right. Tommy tilted his chin up and pressed their lips together and it felt like—himself, for the first time in… forever, maybe. Buck doesn’t know what he’s meant to do with that. Go out on Saturday night, maybe (hopefully) kiss Tommy again (and again and again and again), but then… But then?

He wants to call Eddie because he always wants to call Eddie. He wants to blurt out all the things he kept under his tongue when he apologised earlier. He wants to hear Eddie say his name, soft and warm and knowing, because if anyone can make him feel seen and heard and at home in his own skin, it’s Eddie. He wants so hard it’s almost painful.

But it’s the middle of the night, he can’t call Eddie.

He can’t call Maddie either. She would answer, he knows, and she’d have just the right words for the spiralling anxiety that’s sucking him in, but he’s not going to scare her with the phone ringing in the middle of the night. There have been too many calls like that that have only been bad news.

He won’t worry Hen or Bobby with a call like that either.

And as much as Buck wants to confide in them, wants to crack his chest open and show his family what has been inside the whole time, there’s another part of him that doesn’t want to share. Not yet. He feels like the newborn calves he saw at the ranch in Montana, young and fragile and unsteady as he tries to find his feet. The world suddenly feels bigger. Brighter. And it’s exciting, it’s freeing, but he can’t help feeling daunted, like he might get lost if he’s not careful.

“Bisexual,” he says aloud, just to hear himself say it, to taste the way it feels on his tongue not just as a word but as an identity. It feels like an exhalation, trembling at the edges but not just with fear, or excitement, but with relief. He thinks of that first breath of air when his head came above water in the tsunami, he thinks of being struck by lightning, he thinks of stepping into Station 118 for the first time, he thinks of catching the Jeep keys Maddie tossed him in the dark of a Hershey street all those years ago. Buck knows what it is like to be reborn, but he has never had a kiss make him feel like this before.

Did the first time you kissed a girl feel like this? he wants to ask Hen. Does it feel like this every time?

Is this the magic you were talking about when you first met Shannon? he wants to ask Eddie.

I figured it out, he wants to tell Bobby. I figured out what being at ease with myself feels like.

He has a shift in six and a half hours, but sleep feels as impossible as it did when he first climbed into bed. Buck lifts a hand to trace his lips in his dark, reliving the memory of Tommy there. He imagines Tommy everywhere else too, trailing his hand down his body, fitting Tommy into all the places a few dozen women have touched before. He feels like a teenager, giddy at just the thought of sex—of everything—and he exhales a laugh in the dark.

Buck opens his phone again and sends a text to the one person he knows is on shift and might already be awake: when you said you’d pick me up on Saturday, you meant in the chopper right?

Tommy replies instantly: those things are a bitch to park

And a second later: maybe on the third date

There it is again: breath stuttering, heart racing, fingers tingling. Buck wonders if this is what it feels like to get behind the controls and fly. He grins at his phone. He can’t wait to find out.

Buck doesn't even question it when he pulls up to Eddie's house instead of his own apartment block. He has the go-ahead to return to work, but for some reason, the relieved joy he'd expected has been buried under a confusing mudslide of emotions that make his head hurt if he looks at them too closely.

He tells himself he's at Eddie's because he's returning the favour, paying him back for last year when Eddie had showed up on his doorstep with a six pack, a grin and his transfer back to the 118 paperwork.

Buck doesn't have a six pack, or a grin, or a vague date for his return because he hadn't even told Bobby about his cardiologist appointment today for fear of the news awaiting him.

But he knocks on Eddie's door anyway because he may be just Buck, but that's enough. Its always been enough at the Diaz house, and maybe that's what he should be appreciating after everything.

The smile Eddie gives him when the door cracks open is enough to ease most of the tightness in his chest. He remembers a similar smile two nights ago, the way it had blossomed so softly on Eddie's face, how it had lit up his eyes and rosied the apples of his cheeks.

Yeah, he's enough here.

"Dr Salazar told me to ask you how her diagnosis of repression was holding up," Buck says, pushing past Eddie, eager for the warmth of the living room. "She told me you'd know what that meant."

"You really need to learn to say hello," Eddie grumbles good-naturedly as Buck drops onto the couch with a blissful sigh. Buck cranes his head in time to watch Eddie's face do something complicated. "Wait, what'd she say?"

"She asked how her repression diagnosis was going," Buck sounds out slowly.

"Motherfucker," Eddie hisses to himself. Buck watches rapt as his cheeks fill with colour.

"Yeah, do I get to know what that means?"

Eddie meets his eyes, and Buck wonders if she was a bit too hasty in her dismissal of him because his heart does something worrying in his chest at the dizzying intensity of emotion on Eddie's face.

"Not yet," he murmurs. It sounds like a promise.

Buck swallows past the lump in his throat.

"Wait, you had an appointment today?" Eddie drops onto the coffee table in front of him, a beautiful concern simmering in his eyes. Buck flushes at the attention. "You okay?"

"Yeah," Buck nods, "I am more than okay. In fact, I'm so okay that I am free to return to work whenever I please."

"Okay..." Eddie squints at him. "Why do I feel like you're about to make our quitting the 118 score two-one?"

"I'm not quitting the 118," Buck sighs. "Not again."

"But?" Eddie prods gently.

"But," Buck drags a hand down his face, "I don't know if I'm quite ready to come back yet." He thinks he must be imagining the slight sag of Eddie's shoulders, can't help but wonder if its disappointment or relief if he wasn't imagining it.

"Its a big step after something like this," Eddie concedes.

"After your shoulder, you got cleared with Frank one day, and had a return to work date the next."

"Yeah, and we all remember how that turned out," Eddie snorts.

"Fair enough."

"Its natural to take a bit of time when you aren't ignoring absolutely every warning sign your body is sending you," Eddie tells him. "Bobby will hold your place for you, you know that. Hell, he'd hold it for a decade if he had to. And I might be a bit bummed without my partner around, but I'll live if its so he can take care of himself." Eddie's voice is unbearably soft in a way that makes Buck's skin crawl, its been doing that a lot around Eddie since he woke up. "Besides, I'm sure he'll be drinking my beer and crashing on my couch most nights anyway." Rolling his eyes, Buck huffs a laugh.

"It just feels weird, you know?" He shrugs a shoulder. "After my leg, I fought so hard to get back."

"Yeah, I remember," Eddie says dryly.

"Shut up." Buck shakes his head. "I fought so hard to come back and now I'm being told I can and I just..."

"It feels too easy?"

"Yeah."

"Buck, you're so used to fighting." Eddie shuffles a little closer, and Buck does his best not to flinch at the spark that jolts through him when their knees knock together. "For everything. Ever since you were a kid, you were fighting for everything everyone else just had handed to them. Its hard to shake off a lifelong habit." Eddie tilts his head to catch Buck's eye, he was unaware they'd wandered away from Eddie's determined face. "But last time was different. You know that. You were different."

And Buck knows what he means. That Buck seems so drastically different to the Buck he is now, whatever software update he's at. The Buck who tied his worth to firefighting, who had no identity outside of it, who felt like he was always one step away from being left behind.

But he's also not convinced he's all that different. Firefighting is still his life. He has maybe one or two friends outside of the 118 family. And, yes, he knows that they're a family now, knows that not one of them would leave him behind. The past week has been proof of that. But who is he outside of the firehouse?

"I don't think I really know who I am when I'm not fighting fires," Buck whispers to the carpet.

It feels a lot like a shock of lightning when Eddie uses his pointer finger to nudge Buck's chin up.

"You're Buck," Eddie nods, conviction dripping from him.

And that's enough?

"You're an amazing firefighter, yes," Eddie's hand is still on his chin. "But you're an even better brother to Maddie and Hen and Chim. You're an incredible uncle to an incredible niece. You're the best of friends. You're Christopher's..." Here, Eddie pauses. Buck's heart thumps. "You're Christopher's," Eddie says decisively. "But more than all of that, you're Buck. And maybe that's all you need to be."

Buck grits his teeth when the familiar sting of tears has him squeezing his eyes shut. He takes a few steadying breaths, the ones the lung specialist had taught him when he could finally keep his eyes open for more than ten minutes. With every expansion of his lungs, it feels like his heart grows a little bigger too.

The bravery hits him out of nowhere.

"To Maddie, Hen and Chim, huh?" he asks, meeting Eddie's eyes. "What am I to you, Eddie?"

"Not yet," Eddie says softly. "Not just yet."

And Buck thinks he doesn't mind waiting for this answer.

Seven (+) Sentence Sunday

In honor of the NFL regular season coming to an end today and the beginning of the playoffs, I'm sharing a part of a fan favorite. That's right ya'll, its an NFL Buck snippet! WOOOOO! (And I know this wayyyyy more than seven sentences, but are ya'll going to complain about extra NFL Buck?)

Eddie wasn't lying when he told Chimney he loved football. He just didn't say how much. When Chim invited the newest member of the 118 and his son to a kid friendly sports bar to watch the Rams play the Colts in Indy, he was expecting to be turned down. Hen encouraged it, "He needs friends that enjoy what he does. And I really can't listen to another rant about football stats or how Dustin Watson isn't taking the Texans to the tournament." "Deshaun Watson." Bobby corrected from the kitchen, "And its the playoffs." Hen rolls her eyes, "Whatever. You both have Sunday free and Buckley is playing, Christopher's favorite player." "How do you know the Ram's quarterback is playing, but not the name of the man who got Buckley kicked out of Texas?" Chim teased. "Denny." His friend answers simply, "You know he likes all things LA Rams." "Then why aren't you inviting Eddie and Christopher to your place to watch the game with Denny?" "Because Howard," Hen remarks a little sharply, "I'm not off Sunday and Karen has yet to meet Eddie, so it would be uncomfortable for everyone to have him in our home without me. Why are you arguing about this? You were just complaining about how Eddie and I are all buddy-buddy the other day." "You two have a lot more in common and somehow I always seem to stick my foot in my mouth whenever I talk to the guy. I freaking outed the dude!" Chimney reminds them. Bobby steps away from the stove and joins the two paramedics at the marble island, "Eddie wasn't making it easy for any of us to get to know him. Hen was just braver than most to actually approach him. Now its your turn and football is a good jumping point." Chimney opens his mouth to try objecting again, "And it will help in making up for the whole outing incident and interrogating his kid."

Cap had him there "And you'll pay." Hen demands and when Chimney arches a brow of slight disagreement she just shrugs and states, "It'll help dispel some of the notion of being his boyfriend's sugar baby and his birthday is the same week, making this an easy gift." And Hen made the kill shot. So Chimney awkwardly approached Eddie in the locker room at the end of their shift and invited him and Christopher to watch the game. He was happily surprised when Eddie said yes and brought an equally ecstatic Christopher with him without hesitation. Chim was additionally surprised with Eddie's total enrapture of the game, even more so with his undivided attention to the Ram's new quarterback, Evan Buckley. Every play the man made, Eddie was on his feet making some sort of comment. Good plays came with shouts of, "Good boy Buckley!" and "Great throw man!". Poor plays, interceptions, or missed opportunities, were met with, "Shake it off Buckley!" and "You got this Evan!" And any missed or bad calls from the refs... well Chimney knew foul language when he heard it, no matter what language. "We have a swear jar at home. It gets donated to Evan's charity at the end of the season." Christopher explains when he catches Chimney's questioning side glance after his father's latest f-bomb. Ah well, at least there's some sort of consequence to cursing in front of a child. "I have to pay up too if I say anything like my dad does, but I've never come close to his number." Chris adds on with a giggle and Chimney joins him with a low chuckle of his own. A niggle of curiosity has him asking, "And what about Buck?" The younger Diaz gives all his attention to what remains of his fries and shrugs with one shoulder, "Um... well I've never watched a game with Buck, but he does always double the jars total when we donate it." Chimney really wants to push on the whole matter of Eddie's partner of 10 years never once watching a game with the kid, but he knows interrigating Chris (again) about Buck (who is off limits unless otherwise brought up) would probably put an end to Eddie and Chim's burgeoning friendship. So he goes for a joke, "He must live with soap in his mouth if your dad is to go by." Earning a full belly laugh from the teen and Chimney counts it as a major win when Eddie glances back with bright grin.

I feel like Eddie and Chim have the whole, I'm friends with you because of a Buckley and because we work together thing. So take away the Buckley and its a bit of an awkward friendship, which I wanted to highlight and improve. Hope you all enjoyed!!!! More NFL Buck can be found here.

Hi, 🫣🤭 anon here! Thank you for answering, I really appreciate you taking the time to do so and I don't mind waiting.

Continuing the thread from my last ask, I saw some takes about how that scene with gerrard is actually tommy's "redemption" as in they are showing us that he was also bullied by their captain which is why he acted the way he did in the past and why he frezees and says nothing and honestly I did not think to hard about this scene I was mostly just annoyed about how tommy had no reaction but I can get behind it if he froze because of an instinctual reaction to protect himself - it would have worked better if chim wasn't in the scene cuz it kind of made it look like they want us to belive tommy endured the same treatment as chim and hen and that was definitely not the case...

I am a firm beliver that people can be idiots, cowards and can make tons of mistakes, but can also change so tommy's past actions are not the reason why I can't root for the character, it's the way he acts in the prezent that bothers me and establishing that he also endured his share of bulling should help his character but for me it did the complete opposite, I know that might not make sense but i'll explain

So we have this guy that we know was repressed and who probably had to hide who he was for most of his life and now we also know he was bullied and who in the present is presented to us as someone who grew as a person and became better version of himself and who seems to be happy and free

So then, why does he act like a complete jackass on his first date with buck? If he is the kind of person who freezes and can't say a word in front of his bully, if he struggled his entire life with who he is, shouln't he understand buck's reaction when eddie came? I know there are people who say his closet joke is not that deep, that he was hurt by the way buck acted and that he left because he saw buck is not ready, but in light of this he was bullied too I can't understand how can anyone defend his actions on his date with buck, if you are a person that had horrible past experiences (and I don't mean just regarding sexuality) why would you have that kind of attitude? Why not chose to be kind and extend to buck the treatment you would have liked to receive? Like tommy knew how new everything was for buck, he was aware and if he didn't want to deal with what that meant for buck he shloudn't have gone with him on a date

I'am rambling, sorry, but this new info about tommy gave certain people more reasons to defend him and there are certain situations (like the date) in which he does not deserve it🫣🤭

i got this before the finale but wanted to wait and see if tommy was in it before answering. you pretty much hit the nail on the head, but i wanted to add how he acted on the date in the finale. dismissing buck calling bobby his dad, and then dismissing buck trying to find common ground (strained relationship with biological father) doesn't give me hope for a possible character redemption. i think it's more likely tommy's actions during his time at the 118 under gerrard are brought up, and if it is i can't wait to see it

So... I kinda feel like the 9-1-1 is foreshadowing a pregnancy...

So I speculate. Btw this ends up being more like a fic premise than speculation. Feel free to use these ideas if you want to x)

I'm a rabid crow so buddie would naturally be my favorite pick to be parents. (Also it's just more interesting to me to speculate about Buddie becoming surprise parents than for example Maddie and Chimney. I mean there is always Maddie's previous post-partum to add some challenge but still... Buddie is my go-to plot bunny factory, and Hen and Karen just got another child etc. So. Buddie it is.)

Btw one reason why I jump to buddie becoming parents (again) is that I think the show has foreshadowed it before. Remember that Christmas episode, Buck playing with Denny and Chris, with Eddie fondly watching them play?

Buck asks something like "who needs more cement?" and both kids want some, so Buck says Chris will have to wait, as Denny will get his first, "this big old piece"...

What could "cement" symbolize...?

Children, right?! Having more children does tend to add more "cement" to a family, right? The bonding, the responsibility... It's like cement!

And hey, didn't the Wilsons just get 'a big, old piece of cement'... Mara!

Also, during christmas there were four stockings hanging on the mantelpiece in the Diaz home. Like it was a family of four.

So Buddie... Tbh I think it would end up being them being dads if just either of them somehow ended up becoming the dad of a sudden 'child surprise'...

After all, taking care of a baby is hard and exhausting, and Buck and Eddie just naturally lean on each other for help, we've already seen it happen with Chris. They could not watch the other one struggle and not offer to help.

So how could Buck or Eddie become a dad of a baby? Could happen many ways I think.

Might be Buck or Eddie, impregnating a woman who decides to keep the baby, and then realises it was a mistake, as motherhood is certainly not something they enjoy, or are good at. Maybe single parenthood doesn't suit the mom's schedule due to them having a super demanding lifestyle thanks to their chosen field of work, something like that.

So the mom could decide that the other parent, the dad, would simply do a better job. So they'd show up at their doorstop, like a modern version of a stork, to drop off the baby, and then fly away. Or maybe to get them to share the responsibility, share custody and be a part-time parent.

The sperm donor story arc also feels like unfinished business to me.

I feel like Connor really wasn't as eager to become a parent as he pretended to be. I think he was just indulging Kameron, to fulfill her dream of motherhood, to make her happy, and was actually having seconds thoughts himself.

Really, the way he is introduced as someone who used to go by the nickname "Party Connor"...? Curious.

And do you guys remember the theme of drugs & neglect happening in the same episode in which Connor shows up to ask Buck to be a sperm donor...? Because Bobby also rescues Hoover in that episode!

Hoover is the dog which finds and eats the drugs his careless owner left lying around, and then needs to be resuscitated. So the team calls Hen on her day off, to ask for medical advice on how to treat a dog.

Hen... who is currently getting thoroughly drunk with Buck despite it being daytime, Hen who is asking Buck if he really is capable of fathering a child and walking away. Feels like foreshadowing to me!

My suspicion is that Connor might actually be an addict, that would explain his wild "party" past.

The stress of parenthood might make him relapse, leaving Kameron to deal with the baby alone. As we know, Cameron used to lead a wild lifestyle, and Kameron and Connor were already fighting before the baby was born...

Also, as this episode hints... Not all dads adapt to not being the biological parent of the child they are raising. Connor isn't the biological dad of the child Kameron gave birth to. What if that leads to problems, what if Connor is the type who secretly thinks that being the biological father matters more than being the father who is there? Chimney's dad isn't the only person in this world to think this way!

And hmm.. Connor was said to be infertile. But hey... What if he... isn't, after all?

The reason Connor was said to be infertile was "slow swimmers" aka slow sperm mobility, right? Well newsflash, having "slow swimmers" doesn't actually always mean it's impossible to conceive. It can be harder to conceive, but yeah, it's not necessarily impossible. It can even happen naturally.

So... What would happen if "Party Connor" relapses and becomes "Party Connor" once again...

What if he starts using and neglects his child?

And to add a cherry on top of the disaster, what if Kameron finds out she's late?

... Already expecting another baby?

How would she manage the single parenthood of two babies if it turns out that Connor isn't a reliable adult..?

What if she realises that the task is too much for her to take on,

that trying to care for two babies (or maybe even more than two, what if she's expecting twins) on her own...

would just make them all fall down?

Btw, Connor might not even believe the baby she's expecting is his since he appeared to be certain that having slow swimmers meant that he is infertile! That might make them really fall out, Connor leaping to the assumption that her wife is cheating on him.

So... I think she'd contact Buck and ask for help. After all, it doesn't seem like Kameron really has a family of her own, the way she was living in Buck's apartment when she and Connor fought. Maybe there is no safety net, and it's just her and Connor.

Until... it's just her. And the babies.

I’m thinking about how this season THEYRE revisiting everyone’s worst traumas: (spoilers)

Bobby- his family’s death (the cruise and 7x08 from the trailer and episode descriptions)

Athena- Harry being involved in an incident at a convince store that could’ve ended up with him dead, similarly to how her fiancé died at the connivence store (correct me if I’m wrong, it’s been a hot minute)

Hen and Karen- their adoption going through, the same way it did with Nia

Chimney- Kevin and Doug (in 7x06 specifically)

Maddie- Doug (in 7x07 specifically)

Eddie- the Shannon of it all

Which leads me to like, what’s in store for Buck? I would say maybe it’s already been addressed (we’re seeing his fear of being replaced (with Eddie in 2x01 and then with Tommy in 7x04) and then his abandonment/intimacy issues in the context of his relationship with Tommy) but…

When I think about Buck’s biggest traumas, I don’t necessarily think about Abby or Ali or Taylor.

When I think about Buck’s biggest traumas I think about him getting blown up. I think about the embolism. I think about the tsunami. The lawsuit. The shooting. The lightning strike. And of those ones, I think his relationship with Christopher is a big part of why they’re so impactful. Christopher gives him the card before he throws a clot. Christopher is with him when the wave hits. Eddie tells Buck that the lawsuit is affecting Chris. Eddie gets shot and Buck finds out that not only would he have been Chris’ temporary guardian while Eddie was in a coma, but his legal guardian in the event of Eddie’s death. While Buck’s in his coma, the person who Buck feels the most guilt over leaving behind in that twisted reality is Chris (not his parents, who finally love him. Not Daniel and Genevieve who will cease to exist. Not Maddie who doesn’t know there could be better. Chris, who asks Buck for help and for the only time so far in the show, Buck has to refuse. Because that’s not his Chris. He needs to get back to his Chris, because that’s the boy he promised to always be there for).

After the truck bombing, every major trauma Buck lives through is at least partially centred around Chris, and we see how their relationship develops through these traumatic experiences.

So, pray tell, what the hell is going to happen to Buck and Chris and how the fuck is Eddie going to cope with it when we’re already watching him devolve into… madness? The death of his moral compass? Desperation? Whatever it is, it’s dark.

(I would also argue that Eddie’s biggest trauma after the death of Shannon was his s5 breakdown, so. I wouldn’t be surprised if we revisited that)

(Also also, I think Hen’s biggest trauma pertaining to the job was the civilian who she hit with the ambulance, and I would LOVE to see that touched on again for angst’s sake. Or you know: Hen’s dad, Eva, Denny’s bio dad, Karen’s journey with infertility, that time Karen got a little blown up, Hen’s med school friends, that time Hen seriously considered letting go of her morals to watch Eva die because that would be the only way to free her family of the mess she created. You know, any of these could work. All I’m saying is that ABC home of Grey’s Anatomy and 9-1-1 and its love of secret siblings and half siblings COULD throw us a curveball and give Hen a secret half sibling on her Dad’s side. For the drama)

TLDR: if we’re gonna talk about the 118’s trauma, Buck’s needs to centre around Chris. Burn down the loft with Buck and Chris in it, Tim. I dare you.

Wank is definitely trying to infiltrate the fandom. The proliferation of posts aimed at the fans of specific ships, fans who do not like characters or character development, or fans who point out unrealistic situations and behaviors is definitely frightening. So, I will say a few things and keep going.

(Disclaimer: If you don't like my views, kudos to you. It's called free thinking and free will. Maybe if you explain why you don't agree, it will open a fun dialogue.

Saying I am wrong or I suck doesn't bother me and does not count as supporting your views. You can't leave anon comments. You can thank a few who can't act like civilized humans for that change. I am always open to discussion and debate, if it is respectful.)

Here goes some of my thoughts on current fandom war topics I have seen:

BuckTommy is gross/pointless/forced/not believable.

I don't think it is gross. Lou isn't my type, but I can tell he is a handsome man. So, I understand someone being attracted to him.

I think Buck needs to explore himself, not just his sexuality, outside the 118. As for not being believable, I think it is. And there are many interpretations, I believe, that could be correct.

I don't feel this is forced in the way most of the posts I've seen are implying it. I think Tommy was a convenient character and maybe TPTB are using this as a way to get that character, and possibly his unit, more exposure. Spinoff maybe? When you think about it, it would have been just as easy to create a new character and have him force Buck to look within himself.

I think the relationship is very believable, but not for the most common reasons.

This is organic attraction and a natural progression.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

I believe that even though we are in a new season, Buck is still traumatized by dying. I think he is hiding it well. I think throwing himself into a relationship with someone who was obviously only into him due to his brush with death distracted him. But I don't think Buck has dealt with dying and what that dream showed him. There is no way he does not have a lot of unresolved issues.

I think Natalia was a distraction that actually worked for a while. But, if you go back to the scene where he tells Eddie they broke up, he is obviously in need of attention. He is blatantly resentful after Eddie says he is unavailable due to Christopher's date but asked Marisol to help chaperone. (Eddie is no better. Listen to how he says Natalia's name.)

So, we have a man who died, didn't deal with that at all, threw himself into a relationship with a death doula, the relationship ended, his safe place was now taken by Marisol, whom Eddie was asking to fill a parental role that would have been Buck's before.

In that one scene Buck was slapped into a reality where Eddie is not always available when he needs him, he is no longer Christopher's de facto second parent, and Eddie is trying to move on a build a family with someone else.

We know Buck doesn't have the healthiest coping skills. I was waiting for him to go off the rails. He was drifting alone.

Enter Tommy. Tommy who is instantly drawn to Eddie. If you never find out that Tommy is into men, and look at the sparring, the fixing Eddie's car, the FLYING THE MAN TO VEGAS FOR A SOLD OUT FIGHT, the intense focus, amazing adventures, and acts to impress Eddie still seem like someone showing off for someone they like.

You can interpret the scene of Tommy, Eddie, and Buck separating after watching Bobby and Athena as Tommy being smitten with Eddie, watch how he stares at Eddie, and Buck trying to draw Tommy's attention away from Eddie, whom he is already seeing slip away due to Marisol.

(I will probably explore this in another post.)

In other words, I think Buck was experiencing a breakup, seeing Eddie as slipping away, still shaken by his death, and not dealing. Tommy could very well be Natalia 2.0, a distraction when he needed it. Tommy was into Eddie but Eddie was taken and wasn't giving him any signs that there could ever be more. Buck needed someone and Tommy saw an opportunity with a hot man.

Buddie doesn't make sense because Eddie is not gay.

May I remind everyone Buck was canonically straight for six seasons?

Eddie doesn't have to be gay. He could be bi, pan, demi, or whatever. I've touched upon Eddie Diaz's unusual behavior with and toward women in prior posts. I have been on this Earth long enough to know that Eddie Diaz does not behave like a typical heterosexual male.

I also know sexuality is not as concrete and clear as we always think it is. A lot of people have figured out in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond the sexuality they genuinely believed they were was not quite accurate.

Eddie's relationships have all been based on what he feels he is supposed to do. That man has never once shown a genuine sexual attraction to any woman he has been paired with. He never looks at any of them with that gleam in his eye.

But you know who he does look at like that? Buck. He has done it many times throughout the series. (That will probably be a separate post, too.)

Eddie doesn't pursue women. He doesn't feel comfortable with relationships naturally progressing with those women. When he finds himself in a relationship that is moving to another level he panics, literally. He basically has kicked every woman out, yet he invites Buck over all the time.

Eddie Diaz is not straight. Eddie Diaz has never had a functional, stable relationship with a woman. Eddie Diaz is just as messed up and in need of thrice weekly therapy appointments as Buck.

BuckTommy and Buddie can't coexist.

Why not? How many people here have only had one partner in their lives? It happens but it is rare.

Many seem to overlook that Buddie can't happen right now anyway because Eddie is with Marisol. So, just as Eddie jumped at Marisol because Buck dove into a relationship with Natalia headfirst, why would it be such a stretch to consider that Buck is throwing himself into an opportunity with Tommy because Eddie is taken.

I keep pointing out those two are the poster children for unhealthy dynamics.

Some fans don't like Tommy Kinard.

What's wrong with that? I've seen many valid reasons fans given by the fans who don't like the character. I've seen some that are ridiculous, too, but I scroll quickly past those.

Tommy, canonically, was a terrible person but is now a fan favorite and suddenly redeemed.

I get it. He says he was struggling with his sexuality and trying to fit in and all is forgiven. 🙄 Personally, I don't know why the hell Hen would ever forgive him. I understand forging a positive working relationship with him, but as a woman, I have seen so many men treat us, I am a woman who has worked with people of all races and sexualities, badly in the workplace and a simple "I'm sorry" is supposed to be enough to erase the damage and anguish that casual misogyny, racism, and homophobia caused. It hurts when you are insulted, humiliated, and punished for something you can't control, such as your biological sex, race, or sexuality. He wasn't a dumb kid in junior high trying to impress some kids so he could be their friend. He was a grown ass man who chose to bully a woman due to her sex, race, and sexuality. What makes it worse is he is gay, too!

Some fans have said they see negative personality traits in the character. I didn't initially, until I rewatched his scenes after reading some posts on social media. I missed a lot of little things. He's older. He's experienced. He knows how to woo someone. But he also talks down to Buck. When he says Evan, it isn't warm and loving like when Maddie or Eddie says it. It is almost scolding and reproachful. I also concur with those who say he uses snark to put Buck in his place and Buck doesn't even notice. (Let me stop right here and state that if those traits are meant to be subtly conveyed, Lou Ferrigno, Jr is doing a damn good job.)

It's perfectly fine to dislike the character. There is no rule saying fans have to like every character on the show.

BuckTommy and Buddie can't coexist. If Buck is with Tommy, it is a slap in the face to Buddie. If Buddie happens, it is a slap in the face to BuckTommy.

Buck and Eddie have been with other people. If they ever get together, their pasts don't matter. I hate to be the one to tell you, but wedding night virgins? Not common anymore.

Buck is exploring man on man sex with a man who knows what he is doing.

Eddie is in a relationship, too. He's learning about himself. Catholic guilt. Not living for himself.

Every single relationship they have had has shaped them and taught them something.

I wouldn't even be upset if Eddie figured out he liked men, then spent time with an experienced man.

Everyone in the 118 needs to find outlets beyond that group if you ask me.

I admitted early on I am a Buddie endgamer, but I am enjoying seeing slutty Buck openly thirsting over Tommy. I would enjoy seeing Eddie openly thirsting over some sexy man for a while, too. Bring on the breathless begging for the D. I get it. I have been there, baby. When the D is good, you don't mind begging.

So, those are just some thoughts based on the state of fandom right now.

Later, Bobby will feel a little guilty for being the one who was there. It was complete chance, an entirely accidental set of circumstances. Maddie, it should have been Maddie here, or at least Maddie here too, but Chimney got caught in traffic ferrying Jee-Yun to Mrs. Lee’s before his shift started so he’d had to apologetically hand her off to Maddie at the hospital so she could finish that journey and he could go straight to the station. Hen and Athena were both at work already. The Buckley parents were off somewhere, doing something. Last they’d talked they had complained of the discomfort of waiting room chairs that Bobby had politely sat in for the better part of the last week. Eddie might have been in the hospital or might have been at home with Chris, Bobby never thought to ask afterwards. Not too far, never too far, the palpable desperation of his want to be close to Buck driving him away from the man’s side just as much as it kept him close.

So it’s just Bobby in the room, alone there for no more than 20 minutes when Buck’s eyes start moving behind their lids again. It’s happened fairly frequently over the past 24 hours since they’d taken him off the ventilator, and they’d all tried to learn not to get excited about it and failed every time. Bobby holds his breath as he watches Buck keep taking his own, following the flick back and forth of movement.

He just doesn’t think he has any more claim to Buck than any of the rest of them. He doesn’t deserve to be here more than Hen and Chimney, his siblings by choice, or Maddie, his sister by choice and blood and time and hard work. He doesn’t deserve to be here more than Eddie does, Eddie should be here, Bobby knows his heart would unbreak, seal right back up to see Buck wake again. Christopher, even, the child Buck is helping raise and is so good at doing so, should get to be in this chair at his side. It’s not fair that he - captain and sometimes friend and father only in an abstract, unspoken way that Bobby doesn’t much believe he’s done enough to earn - is the only one present when Buck’s eyes finally, finally flutter open. Bobby had forgotten, somehow, how blue they were, even this tiny peek of them.

“Nurse!”

He’s surprised his voice doesn’t crack more than it does as he calls out, but then he’s not thinking about it at all because Buck’s open eyes drift towards the sound, and Buck is looking right at him.

“Buck- Buck, hey, kid, can you hear me?” His voice shakes and so do his hands as they reach and hover over Buck’s chest and face.

Buck stares blankly at first, blinking slowly, and then his nose wrinkles in such a familiar way that it almost chokes Bobby from the inside. “B…”

“Yeah, yeah, hey, I’m right here-“

Buck blinks again, and Bobby thinks someone should turn the lights off for him, and he vaguely notices that hospital staff are rushing into the room, but then Buck’s eyes are widening and his arm is moving - moving! - and Bobby is catching his hand and Buck’s fingers are curling around his own. “Bobby,” he says, voice raspy and a little slurred and maybe the most beautiful thing Bobby has ever heard.

“Y- yeah, kid, I’m here.” He rests his free hand against Buck’s face and Buck leans into his palm, and tears well up immediately at the small amount of pressure.

Buck searches his face with a frown and Bobby wishes he knew what he was looking for so he could give it to him and smooth over the slant in his eyebrows. “You… you’re okay?”

“Yeah, kid, I’m okay, I’m right here, I’m okay.” Bobby runs a thumb over Buck’s birthmark, squeezes his hand. “It’s okay, you’re awake, your eyes are open-” he has to stop to laugh, it bubbles right up out of him even as the tears spill over. “Your eyes are open. You’re here with me, you’re awake,” he laughs again, choked up with it, and leans his forehead down to rest against Buck’s. Guilt will come later. For now everything is okay, because Evan Buckley died last week and is now nodding against him, breathing on his own, holding his hand, awake, awake, awake.

I swear it wasn't my fault this time!” 

Bobby smiled at a panicking Ravi as he patted him on the shoulder, “No one is saying you did anything wrong. Injuries happen on jobs like ours. We know this, and we still choose to do this job because we want to be out there saving lives and helping people.”

Still, Ravi couldn't help but toss a glance at the hospital room behind him.

“Go. Tommy is waiting to take you home.” Bobby ordered.

Ravi couldn't stop the blush or smile that graced his face at the thought of his boyfriend. “If you are sure?”

“I'm sure,” Bobby promised. Bobby waited until Ravi was down the hall, and Tommy waved at him as he led the younger man out of the hospital before taking a deep breath and steeling himself for what was to come.

“Hey, Bobby is here!” 

Eddie Diaz high on the good pain medicine.

“Yes, Eddie Bobby is here.” Buck sounded so fond as he gazed at his husband.

Eddie gave Bobby a goofy grin. “Did you know I am going to marry Buck?”

Biting his lower lip Bobby did his best not to laugh. 

“He is the love of my life, and I baby-trapped him, so now he is mine. Take that Abby and Taylor Kelly, she is the devil itself.” Even high on medicine, Eddie still remembers his hatred of those two women. Turning his head, Eddie looked at Buck with pleading eyes, “Don't marry them. Marry me.”  

“You are the only one I will ever marry. You are the love of my life.” Buck kissed Eddie softly.

“He kissed me!” Eddie looked beyond happy as he clumsily pulled Buck into another kiss.

“Has he been like this the whole time?” Bobby asked Athena who had arrived at the hospital first to support Buck who was going out of his mind with worry after learning Eddie had been injured on one of the rare shifts they didn't work together. 

“Oh yes, first he wanted to know when sausages were alive, did they have legs? Then he spotted Buck; he then spent the next five minutes debating with himself what the exact shade of blue Buck’s eyes were. Then he moved on to all the dirty things he wanted to do with Buck that I did not need to hear, that man has a dirty mind when it comes to Buck. I'm glad you missed it. We were just on how Eddie has baby-trapped Buck for years and how they need to get married so Buck can be Buck Diaz.” 

Glancing at the couple Eddie was wearing a look he only got on his face when he was with Buck and/or Christopher that was pure love. He looked settled and happy, it was a look that suited him well.

Eddie caught his eyes and pouted at him, “Cap tell Buck to kiss me! I can't live without my Buck kisses!” 

“How can grown firefighters look so cute when pouting? Tell Buck to kiss Eddie or he will never stop pouting.” Athena ordered.

“Buck, you can kiss Eddie as much as you want.” 

Eddie grinned smugly at Buck, “Hear that Cap ordered it so you got to obey him. Now kiss me!” Eddie ordered tugging at Buck's shirt.

“I guess orders are orders,” Buck murmured as he kissed Eddie.

It was when Eddie's free hand reached out a squeezed Buck’s ass did Bobby and Athena went to find a nurse to see how long it would be until Eddie was discharged, Athena was right there are some things they shouldn't see.

“He’s fine,” Hen had said to Bobby that day he’d come in sporting a bruise on his face and lying through his teeth about some bullshit with a bicycle.

The day Hen had lied for him too.

Summary: “You never talk about your parents,” Eddie says, which is not even remotely what Buck expects Eddie to say. Buck swallows hard, against a lump in his throat. His parents? Eddie’s right, he never talks about them, for good reason. He opens his mouth, then closes it again, not sure what he’s even going to say.

Eddie takes it as the answer Buck is trying to make it out to be. He squeezes Buck’s wrist again, takes a deep breath, like he’s on a call with someone who’s panicking. Buck finds his breathing slowing to match Eddie’s, and Eddie nods as Buck gets it under control.

“There are people on the porch,” Eddie says, voice even. “Saying they want to meet their grandchild.”

But Eddie gets to have a lot of nice things for himself. The things that make even his worst call days just a smidge better.

If anyone (Hen) is interrogating him for details, it's definitely the coffee he's referring to."

I'm not in my gear, Buck," Eddie tells the barista when he approaches the counter.

The smile he looks forward to is waiting for him courtesy of the barista that makes even Eddie have to tip his head back a little bit to make eye contact. "Yeah," Buck drawls as he pushes the tray of coffee towards him, "but you're still on duty."

The Messiest of the Messy by Spicysauce - 16,965 words, teen+

Summary: Irritated, Eddie clenched his fists, starting to turn around. "Why would Buck be eating with us - "

The words died in his throat along with the shatter of the mug against the floor. But Eddie barely noticed he dropped it, his mouth slightly agape as he stared at Buck, took in the bruises, and the blood, and general brokenness of the man before him.

Or: After the Lawsuit, Buck is starting to think his team will never forgive him and is feeling lonelier than ever, when his dad shows up, looking for money that Buck doesn't have. Now, his ribs are broken and his face has been pummelled into one big bruise. All he wants to do is retreat to his empty apartment and wallow in his own self-pity, but before that he needs to get his keys, which he'd left at the station the previous night.

Everyone else is on shift, so he's hoping he can sneak into the locker room and be gone before anyone notices he was there, but this is Buck, so of course, nothing goes to plan.

Buck's not doing well, everyone knows and Eddie's unsure which lines he should be crossing now that he and Buck are in some weird, middle stage of knowing that they will be together, but aren't yet due to personal reasons (like figuring their own relationship trauma out so they're not shitty partners).

Summary: When Buck left home, it was a rushed decision. He didn’t know where he was going or what he was going to do, but he had a high school diploma and enough street smarts to make it as far from his father as possible.

It's been nearly ten years since then, and now his father is in town. Buck quickly learns that some things haven't changed.

But other things have, and his family will help him realize that.

WIP Wednesday

Honestly, I wrote this a month ago (and totally forgot about it), but since I'm probably not going to finish it.... I thought I'd finally post one of these again in celebration of the 911 finale airing tomorrow. So... (sorry people who followed me for top gun but) here is a short buddie fic! (It's set right after like 7x06 but is canon compliant to 7x05) There's more after the break >>

A slow work day was all Buck needed after everything that's been happening lately—Chim getting attacked, Maddie freaking out over their entire wedding, the whole Tommy-break-up-thing. Honestly, all he wanted to do was have an easy shift, and it had been just that so far. 

That is until the last call of the shift. God, one more hour and he would’ve been home free…

“...multiple lacerations so they could be bleeding out.” Bobby turns back to the road and Buck picks up speed to the mall.

“Ambulance won’t start,” Hen’s voice comes crackling through the radio as he peels out onto the main road. “We’ll meet you there in the ladder truck.” They didn’t have time to turn around so hopefully Hen and Chim could get there quickly. It’s early so there shouldn’t be much traffic.

“You and Eddie will go in and I’ll wait for Chim and Hen. We got a light crew today but that shouldn’t be a problem, right boys?” Bobby turns back to Eddie and Buck can feel him smiling behind him.

“Nope. Hen trained me well!” Eddie’s alone in the back and Buck almost wished Ravi was with them just to give them some more backup. He had a bad feeling about this call for some reason…

“Third floor?” 

“Yep.” Buck says as they make their way into the pitch black mall, only the full moon above lighting the tiled floors.

“Ever been in a mall after closing?” Eddie makes his way to the stairwell before looking up at the levels of stairs above them.

“Nope.” Meeting him there, Buck can’t help but dread the flights ahead. “But I can’t say I’m the biggest fan.” It was a bit eerie if Buck said so himself; the dark shadows and only the sound of him and Eddie’s boots making their way across the floor. 

“Elevator?” And Buck could kiss him right there. 

Clicking the third level, Buck leans against the wall and waits to hear the gears start turning. He lets out a huff of air and can feel Eddie’s eyes staring into him. “What?”  He turns his head before looking over at the shorter firefighter, whose hands are placed on the railing behind him, giving Buck a clear look at his physique, even with the uniform. 

“You okay?” Of course he could tell. Buck hadn’t exactly been vocal about him and Tommy ending things (he actually hasn’t told anyone yet) but of course Eddie knew every one of Buck’s tells to figure out something was going on. 

“Yeah-” Buck would elaborate with some excuse about being tired if it was for the jerk of the elevator and clicking sound. They didn’t quite reach floor three though.

They were stuck.

“Shit.” As soon as Eddie notices the stagnant ‘2’ on the display, he reaches for his radio, “Cap, elevator’s stuck.” 

“Do you have the patient?” 

“We were going up to get her,” Eddie lets out a huff before continuing, “didn’t quite make it.” 

“Hen and Chim here yet?” Buck clicks into his radio to ask and Bobby doesn’t reply immediately. “Cap?” Buck tries again before Eddie locks eyes with him, also confused. 

“Guys, we got a problem.” Chim’s voice comes through the radio and Buck already knows it’s going to be a long night.

Apparently, there was a fucking robbery going on upstairs. Or, at least, now there is. Bobby informing Eddie and Buck that there’s a few hostages in the jewelry section of the mall and that one of them got away to make a phone call is now the highlight of Buck’s day. Great. They’re dealing with being stuck in an overheating elevator, with no backup, at three in the morning, while there’s a robbery going on thirty feet away. 

“Sit down, Buck.” Eddie breaks Buck out of his mind from his seat against the wall and Buck obliges, sinking down across from him. They’ve been here for a good fifteen minutes now and at this point, Buck just wanted to get away from Eddie. Not that Eddie was bad in any way, it was just…. 

Awkward. 

For Buck, at least.

Why? Oh no reason, just Tommy may have alluded to Buck having more-than-platonic feelings for his best friend of six years and he wasn’t exactly keen on humoring that take. That wild, ridiculous, unrealistic take. And wrong. The take was wrong. 

He had said it so naturally too:

“Evan, it’s okay.” Tommy’s eyes softened and Buck couldn’t quite fathom the words coming out of his mouth. 

“I don’t–” Buck shook his head before looking back at Tommy’s knowing face. “I’m not-”

“Evan.” Buck let out a breath of air before letting the pilot continue whatever horrors that were to be said next. “I saw it the first time you mentioned him.” And Buck can’t quite think of when that was. Maybe right before their first kiss; before his world flipped on its head and his eyes were fully open for maybe the first time in his life? Or maybe when he took the tour with Tommy? Or maybe the phone call when asking for the tour?

“How–?” Buck didn’t think he believed it, but that was the only word that came out. 

“I knew what I was getting into, Evan. This wasn’t going to be forever.” And maybe that stung. Maybe those words hurt like when Tommy had said he ‘wasn’t ready’ for them. Maybe those words would’ve affected Buck if he wasn’t still reeling from his supposed feelings for his best friend. “I think you knew that too.” Did he?

Since that night, Buck’s pushed those feelings back. Far. To the depths of his mind where they shall never see the light of day. Or so he thought. But those thoughts are slowly working their way to the front of Buck’s mind as he takes in the tanned, exhausted firefighter in front of him. The small beads of sweat beginning to make their way down the sides of Eddie’s face before he wiped them away with the back of his hand. His jaw locking as his muscles in his arm tense while he raises his hand. Buck could’ve drooled, but decides to take the more responsible path of ignoring the warm feelings blossoming in his chest (and probably face). 

“Tommy and I broke up.” He doesn’t know why he says it. Maybe to break the silence or take his mind off the man in front of him and place it on another. Eddie turns to look at him and Buck can’t quite place the emotions painting his face. It seems like a mix between pity and confusion and Buck doesn't exactly feel like answering any questions right now.

“Sorry to hear that.” It’s reserved, and Buck gets the sense that there’s a part of Eddie that doesn’t quite mean the sentiment. They both let out a deep breath and Buck tries to ignore the movement of Eddie’s throat as he swallows. Ugh. Why’d he have to be trapped here, now, with Eddie of all people. 

Buck almost wants to elaborate. To continue talking for the sole sake of removing the uncomfortable silence between the two of them but he’s not exactly keen on where that elaboration may lead. “How’s Marisol?” Nope. That’s worse. So much worse.

Eddie looks up to Buck, his face now free of the apparent conflicted emotions he was having a minute ago. Buck can see the way his eyes dart around, not quite making eye contact with Buck until he opens his mouth. “Fine.” 

That’s it? Fine? 

Personally, Buck thought it was going decently well between the two, which is now starting to sound more like an amicable, boring acquaintance rather than a romantic relationship. But Buck wasn’t exactly upset with the answer. He almost lets himself take a sigh of relief until he’s realizing why the hell he’d be relieved in the first place.

Good.

Fine means good. So Eddie and Marisol are doing good. Which means they’re not going to break up or end things anytime soon so there’s no reason for Buck to get any hopes up (not like he should in the first place) but—

“Buck?” Eddie snaps him out of his mind again and Buck wants to curse himself for spiraling. So what if Marisol and Eddie are great; good for them.

“Yeah?” Eddie looks down at his hands, pondering, before his eyes lock onto Buck’s. They don’t look away from each other, even as Buck can feel his throat tightening. A wave of heat travels through Buck’s stomach and he has to consciously take a breath to keep himself breathing. Buck can feel his face burning up and he can’t quite figure out if it’s because of the prolonged eye contact, gradually warming box they’re trapped in, or maybe just his suit trapping his body heat too well. Buck notices the way Eddie bites his bottom lip, which means he’s thinking of how to continue what he’s going to say, before he finally breaks their eye contact. It’s hard not to stare at the other man as he wets his lips and huffs out a breath of air before finally opening his mouth to speak, and honestly, Buck would rather just press his lips against his to keep him from saying another word. To finally taste his lips instead of remembering the thick, red liquid that he imagines when he pictures himself running his tongue over the man’s body. 

“Chris told me, the other day,” Eddie starts after a long breath and Buck can feel his shoulders tensing for some reason, “he wants me to be happy.” While he can’t quite see where this is going, Buck nods along, hoping the conversation can move his mind from the thoughts that have been on a loop since Tommy left. “What if…” Eddie looks back to Buck and he feels himself raise his eyebrows with a nod, a reaction of his that Eddie knows means ‘it’s okay, keep going’. “I don’t think Marisol makes me…happy.” The last word sounds foreign on Eddie’s tongue; like he’s never humored the possibility of someone making him happier than he thinks he should be.

There is so much potential for Buddie next season, so much potential. So abc writers if you see this, and hopefully you’ve won the strike: take notes. Fanfic writers please feel free to use these ideas, they’re not even all mine, for fics and tag me in them if you do because I would love to read them all, please and thank you.

Buck/Natalia and Eddie/Marisol Double Date: They all decide to go on a double date and Buck and Eddie act a little too much like a married couple. They taste each others food, tell each other what not to order because they know the other won’t like it, make inside jokes that only they get etc.

Buck starts acting out: In order to try and and get more near death experience stories to impress Natalia with Buck starts acting reckless at work. Eddie is not happy about this at all. Maybe this is how the will is brought up? Eddie gets upset with him and tells him he has to think of Christopher? Maybe also leads to Buck’s Breakdown?

Marisol is terrible with Christopher: She’s not mean to him or anything, she’s just really awkward with him and afraid to do anything with him for fear she might hurt him and kinda treats him like a 2 year old. This is a dealbreaker for Eddie and he breaks up with her.

Buck Breakdown: Maybe Natalia breaks up with him, another person who leaves him, because how she see him with the Diaz’s, which leads to a breakdown in which Eddie comes over to comfort him. But, it turns into a fight which leads us to #5.

Angry Love Confession: Eddie gets fed up with how oblivious Buck is being. Buck brings back the whole “she really sees me” line only it’s, “I thought she really saw me” and Eddie just snaps and starts going off on Buck about how almost cruel it is for him to say that to him and that he sees him and he always has, and then he says I love you, but this is all out of anger anger and now they’re both shocked and Eddie is still angry and he just leaves Buck standing there (in the loft). After this big angsty love confession fight they stop talking to each other and act purely professional around each other and we don’t really know yet how Buck feels about this love confession. This distancing goes on for a couple episodes and we, as an audience, don’t know what the fate of their relationship will be, maybe they’ll never be friends again? I want all the angst.

Matchmaker Bobby: Eddie and Buck both talk to Bobby in private at separate times for advice about what’s going on and he gives each of them some of his Bobby Wisdom.

Madney Wedding Speach: As they’re all preparing at Madney’s house Eddie see’s Buck helping Christopher get ready (tying his tie and buttoning his shirt) and his anger softens a little, although he’s been more sad than angry lately. Then after the wedding at the reception (we gotta make sure Madney gets their moment, it’s their wedding of course) Buck is making his toast to the couple and that’s when he has his “oh moment”. He was very confused about everything up until this moment when everything clicks. Bobby’s advice plays in his head and then we get a Buckley-Diaz Family Montage. Throughout the rest of the reception they keep sharing glances from across the room. Then after the wedding Buck goes to Eddie’s house (although I do like the idea of them kissing once again don’t want to take away from Madney’s Wedding) and they talk and really pour out feelings and then Eddie asks Buck to stay and we see them all sitting on the couch together.

I personally like them all together as one big story, but they absolutely don’t have to be that way. Do you. And may Season 7 be a great one 🙌🏻

Tease Tidbit Tuesday

I am in a very generous mood today, so for this tidbit Tuesday I am sharing several teases from different wips. Enjoy!

NFL Buck: Athena hits the intercom above the code box, taking note of cameras that swivel slightly towards her way. A deep voice seeped with weariness comes through the speaker, "What can I do for you officer?"

In the back seat of her cruiser, Eddie immediately perks up and cries out, "Buck! She arrested me and I don't like it and I swear those tiny humans put her up to it! But I didn't do it! I swear!"

4+1 Buck is too nice: Eddie is actually contemplating stealing Bobby's nice knife set away from the firehouse. Stolen knives for Eddie's stolen boyfriend. Seems fair. Sort of.

When in reality Eddie more than understands. Athena is working, Bobby is covering for Captain Royce, and trying to get any sort of non-familiar (free) transportation from LAX was a disservice to May.

Kidnapped Mpreg Buck: Eddie grips his tiny newborn daughter tight to his chest. Its too quiet. Buck is silent, no longer screaming in agony. Their baby has gone quiet after her first cries. Doug will never make a sound again, lying dead by the fireplace. He can barely hear Hen muttering under her breath, pumping her fist hard over Buck's chest. Chimney hasn't said a word since announcing the loss of Buck's heart beat, frantically working to try and stop the omega from bleeding out. And Maddie...is slumped against the wall near the bed where her brother lays dying, covered in blood from Doug, herself, and Buck. Catatonic. Quiet. Too quiet.

Parental Chimney w/ Teen Buddie: Chimney does a double take when he see's Eddie standing just a step inside the bay doors. The older teen is wringing his hands together, looking nervous and very lost.

Tapping Hen on the shoulder, he motions towards the kid and Hen nods in understanding. "Yell if you need back-up." She jokes somewhat serious.

Chimney rolls his eyes, "Doubt he's here to cause harm."

Hen shrugs, "Your new to this parenting thing, and so am I, so asking for help won't hurt." She glances over to Eddie, "Just don't be too hard on him. From my understanding, kids been through enough and losing Buck must feel like rock bottom."

Return of sperm donor kid: “Carson, Connor is your dad, okay?  I just-well-um” Buck was floundering to find the right way to explain to a beginning 5th grader how sperm donation works. 

“He’s not my dad! I heard my mom say so!” Connor shouted, anger and frustration starting to take over.

Buck raised his hands up in gentle defense, “Okay. Okay.  Let’s just,” He sighs in frustration, looking upwards.  Buck didn’t really pray, but he did believe in the universe and Eddie would be his entire paycheck that he was cursing it right now. “I’m calling your parents.”

Carson opened his mouth to object, but Buck immediately cut him off, “I am calling your parents, and that includes your dad, the same man who has fed you, clothed you, LOVED you since the day you were born. I am calling them and then we are all going to sit down and talk. Understand?”
