yknow i wassss gonna gut the cinderheart reincarnation plotline for razorverse because of how clumsy and insidious the original was… but i have been playing pokemon rejuvenation and now i sorta wanna take influence from that game’s reincarnation plot. where the reincarnation is actually a curse that is detrimental to both cinders and has damaging psychological effects on everyone involved

#i mean ig the original plot had hints of that but it was less that and more ‘’omg we gotta make THIS life worth it!!! (aka not disabled) #which this wouldnt have #id totally gut the disability angle altogether tbh #but im imagining like theres legit magic going on. probably bc of the tunnels #maybe cinderpelt was the first cat to realize there was something up with the tunnels. and she accidentally cast a light spell in there #and she began to experiment a bit. and this is what drives her attention away from leafpool for a bit #i wouldnt know what EXACTLY shes doing. maybe she found it before the moonpool was found and wanted to try and create a starclan entry #for the other medics #and once the moonpool was found she tried to stop but realized she wanted to experiment more #like. can she try and contact starclan on her own? could she figure out how exactly starclan ticked? #and she gets in contact with rock who sorta takes her on as a disciple… #im thinking every cat is capable of reading starclan but it varies and cinders’s sense was very low #so she was trying to compensate for that #it distracts her from clan life and pulls her away and suddenly the bubbly cinderpelt everyone knows has just vanished #but they brush it off as the trauma from the journey #but then we get to her death- she’d been trying to create that pathway and as ive said RV!Starclan is a spiritual anomaly #where cats are supposed to reincarnate but instead they linger #creating the starclan group. but in tampering with magic- cinderpelt got locked out of the starclan cycle somehow and got cursed #the same curse as rock- every time she is slain #her body shifts and transforms and is ‘’reset’’ into a young kitten. into cinderheart #the soul of cinderpelt is trapped in there and it will stay trapped til the curse is broken. and the cycle will repeat when cinderheart dies #im thinking cinderheart reconnects with rock to look into this and shes tied in with the jayfeather plotline #and she struggles with feeling like a freak of nature who was born from tragedy #she gets added to sorrels litter and they pretend shes her bio kit but leafpool and the family knows the truth #razorverse

I think it would be an improving experience for the writers who think surprising their audiences or leaving them sad and unsatisfied is the pinnacle of artistic achievement and have not noticed that the easiest way to bring that about is in fact to be bad at your job and the fans who think it should be illegal to write an ensemble or fail to clearly signpost the endgame couples or whether there's a happy ending to spend some time together, creatively speaking. Hand in unloveable hand.

I'd be improved by watching #my mood specifically #I know dunking on the former is too easy in a post got world but they have plagued me for so long #i do understand how frustrating it can be to feel like the reader-writer contract is being broken #but I also feel very strongly that you've gotta give writers room to change their minds and explore the story as it goes #especially in collaborative serialized story telling where they really aren't going to have a full sense of how everything is landing until #fairly late in the process #and like. I'm not here to tell anyone how to enjoy a story #but I also think that if some of these people experienced the epic highs and lows of not knowing exactly where a story is going from #the beginning they would enjoy it #like at their best genre expectations function like the structure of a sonnet and part of the trick is bringing that form to life and #working within that structure #but breaking the rules can be so much fun! as can throwing them out the window #and also often they are not at their best and just turn everything to boring cardboard #my personal vendetta against romance as a genre aside I love fantasy I will defend it to the end but so much of it is not as good as it #could be for this reason and that makes me sad

now that suddence is out to betas i'm oscillating between getting more and more self conscious and overthinking about everything that might be wrong with the story vs. knowing that is literally THE POINT of betas and i can't in good conscience let my story slide out into the world with a bunch of faults i didn't catch simply because i was too close to it

#em dashes #DON'T GO EASY ON ME I NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING #i just need all my betas to know that I KNOW my story isn't perfect in its current state and that's exactly why it's out for critiques #i think there's always some part of you that wishes the critiques will come back squeaky clean. no notes! absolute perfection! #bc then you'd feel proud! you'd feel like you know what you're doing! like you're a PRO!! #however i gotta remind myself that not even professional writers can crank out perfect stories right away #they all have editors and peer critiques to help them #and i have to be careful about equating critiques as personal failures #because they aren't!! they're there to help!!! #anyway. enough venting for now #it's been a while since i got peer critiques so it's a little unnerving lol #but also also i just saw a very good breakdown of an episode of buffy that deals with grief #and i couldn't help comparing it to suddence which also deals with grief #and thinking 'wow. why didn't i do this. why didn't i do that. am i doing this all wrong' #AHH! writing is a very scary profession sometimes #but to be proud of myself for a second #i've never been so confident as to even show so many people my writing. let alone to receive critique on it #it's so strange to think there was a time where i kept all my writing bottled up and didn't talk about it to anyone even on tumblr #i began posting in 2018. that's not that long ago. that's only five years #and yet it feels like a billion years ago. i was still in university. suddence didn't even exist yet #wow. time is so weird

#Big Ikea Leaf #I have one and I've assembled it and I am going to hang it in my ART ROOM tomorrow #I had to go buy a drill because we don't actually have one after all these years #how have I survived without a drill. beats me! I'm generally very handy but I guess I've gotten by on all nails instead of screws #or the occasional self-tapping screw #but this is going in drywall with the real solid drywall anchors. you know the metal butterfly toggle ones. 50lbs weight each #I just have to decide where exactly but I'm thinking over my chair #I cannot believe I have an ART ROOM and I don't even use it really? but also I kind of can believe it bc it's still not really set up #it's been out of sight out of mind and also the bup's urn has been in there so I kinda. didn't really go in much. :( #but we moved it and now I'm like damn me I gotta actually finish sorting all that out and get crankin' on some art in there.
