I walked out of the main building at school yesterday to go to my next class and I smelled soemthing weird, that I had smelled before and it took me a minute because it's been a while since I last smelled it, about 2 years since I think.

But it was smoke, from a wildfire.

And it was just like, "awe, c'mon again?"

Anyway, fast forwards to today and the sky is yellow, it was lighter yellow when I got up ~2 hours ago but it's been getting darker throughout the day.

Wildfire smoke regularly blows into my area, some of it's from California I bet, most is from Oregon or other parts of Washington. It's a pretty cool yellow color but I can't get a good picture of it, not even with the actual camera I got from school for the weekend.

When I was in seventh grade ash fell from the sky and school was canceled the next day, so were my horse riding lessons cause it was probably worse there. And two years ago was when it was really bad and there was a warning of don't go outside, air quality is really bad, and the sky was kinda orangey.

Also smoke irritates eczema and allergies, which is bad cause my eczema is currently flaring up and getting very very angry, it was at the point there it hurt under warm water in the shower, and it's like, all along one side of my middle finger, honestly makes me feel like a reptile with how scaley it is.

So that's what's been going on here, I hope thr smoke clears by monday.

Hey Twitter employees getting laid off tomorrow! IMPORTANT INFO from a CA employment attorney (me):

CA's "WARN" law requires Twitter to give you 60 days notice of a massive layoff.

A layoff of 50+ employees within a 30 day period qualifies.

I know you didn't get that notice.

This WARN law applies to all California employers of 75+ employees, which obviously includes Twitter with its thousands of employees.

Purpose of the law is to give laid off employees time to figure out how to handle this disruption.

And Elon completely ignores it.

Employers like Twitter who violate the WARN Act face civil penalties of $500/day for each violation. With thousands of employees, this could be significant, though maybe not to Elon.

Employees laid off in violation of the WARN Act receive back pay at the employee's final rate or 3 year average of compensation, whichever is higher. Twitter would also be liable for workers' medical expenses that would have been covered under an employee benefit plan.

Twitter will be liable for all of these (civil penalties, lost compensation, lost medical and other benefits) & attorneys' fees for the 60 days it failed to give workers notice.

This flagrant violation of workers rights is outrageous.

Who's in for a class action? LET'S DO THIS

Also, CA's strong antidiscrimination laws apply to Twitter's big layoff tomorrow. Are people of color, women and/or older workers disproportionately chosen, for example?

This was done so hastily, so slapdash, so that the world's richest man can get even richer faster.

We'll see how long Twitter lets my posts stay up. If they take them down tonight, before the layoffs, that means they were on notice of the law I cite and chose to punish me rather than follow it.

That's consciousness of guilt and I'd use it as the basis for punitive damages.

California has had its first big rain of the season, sweeping in to crush the record breaking heat wave. We have thankfully had a pretty light fire season, with the Mosquito Fire, which burned many homes and caused thousands to evacuate, finally easing after this rain. About 3-4 big fires for the whole season is not bad at all. I'm praying that we continue to get more rain that will save us from this drought.

After all of the horrible things happening in the world, especially Puerto Rico and Pakistan, I hope a little good news will make you feel a bit better.
