I don't know when exactly Nerdanel left Feanor, so I am choosing to believe that they 'divorced' when Feanor was banished from Tirion and Nerdanel refused to go with him and their sons to Formenos. But I also headcannon that things between them were bad long before that. As in, Amras and Amrod suffered from "Our Parents Should Divorce Already" situation.

Bad Batch -- Actually Probably Not Spoilers?
But Just In Case:
Like, for plot reasons, I see why they couldn't do it. But my biggest (and possibly the funniest) peeve I have with Bad Batch is this: Canonically, Tech is some kind of master hacker. Can forge chain codes after learning about them five seconds ago. Hacks battle droids -- presumably, you know, SECURED in some way -- on the regular. Masked a ship's signature or whatever. Calculates percentages of plans' successes on the fly while hanging upside down from a screechy flying reptile. Has zero fear (except when Omega is driving the Marauder or someone is doing the Wikipedia entry who isn't him) ("it's not affecting life support. We're fine"; riot racing; everything he's ever done). The moral heart of the Batch pre-Omega ("the systematic termination of the Jedi was a big one for me"; "I understand. I do not agree with you"; "of course we are a family"; "we have not always seen eye to eye with Crosshair but he is our brother and we do not leave our own behind"; but has no issue being pragmatic when it's called for (see: Cid, riot racing again, missions for Rex, interruptions thereof, etc.). Seriously. Wack job of a man. Crazy. Strict moral code arranged almost solely around his family that absolutely nobody sees coming and that, specifically, does NOT preclude massive destruction, property damage, and lethal measures. Ridiculous man. Homeschooled. Genetic Mandalorian. COMPETENT. (Usually.) Bona fide, literal, genetically-engineered test tube genius who is also biologically nine years old. Has no concept whatsoever of overkill. Point being -- he is EXACTLY the kind of person I would expect, once it sunk in that: 1. They are no longer Kaminoan/Republic property 2. They are, in fact, on the run with fam + new baby and - cranky but nonetheless beloved sniper bro who picked a terrible time to be stupid And 3. that "money" is now a thing they must Account For.... Give him two days to study finances, economy, and the various mafia; send him on a weekend trip to Nal Hutta to observe gangs, and hey presto -- the Hutts? overthrown in a year. Black Sun? Under new management. Pykes? A thing of the past. The Senate? Convening emergency sessions to discuss Where All the Money Has Gone. Palpatine's Secret Slush Fund #43? Drained. Hemlock's Science Budget? Currently funding the clone rebellion. ISB 401ks? Being used to pay someone to "retrieve" (read: kidnap) Crosshair from Rampart. Cad Bane's baby-stealing revenue? Currently outfitting the Marauder with gold plating. My point: WHY ISN'T TECH HACKING STAR WARS ATMs Story would have been over six episodes in. Tech would have foreclosed on the Palace; the Death Star would have fallen prey to insurance fraud; Omega would have grown up with more gowns than Padme. The Banking Clan bows to their new and, uh, eccentric overlords. Wrecker has thirteen new Z-6 cannons. Echo has thirteen natborn employees and is thoroughly enjoying himself. Hunter took an actual shower (still didn't get a new bandana). The Empire is turning over the empty coffers and shaking them out, wondering if they have rats. Mas Amedda is standing on street corners with an upturned hat. Crosshair is happily occupied with suing the Kaminoans for emotional damages. The end

platonic Yandere Ror fam with a child reader that's somehow someway been successful kidnapped, and when the Yandere fam does get them back the poor baby is just traumatized.
HEAVY hurt/ comfort please.
-Seven hours, twenty-two minutes, eighteen seconds and counting, that’s how long it’s been since you had been snatched from your pre-school.
-Your kidnapper fired three shots into the air, sending the school into a panic and pistol whipped one of your teachers when she tried to grab you from him before you were tossed into a van.
-When Hades got the phone call, as he was the one to answer, he was stunned silent for only a moment before he sounded the alarm.
-Every single member of your family was ready in less than a minute, ready to rush out the door to go out to search for you.
-Eve, Parvati, and Goll were the only ones who remained at home, to wait for any calls from the police, who were also looking for you and the van that snatched you.
-Eve was nearly inconsolable, sobbing into her hands, calling out for you, calling out for her baby, and the normal crybaby Goll had to be the strong one, keeping Eve strong while Parvati was glued to the phone, waiting for it to ring.
-Jack took the lead in calling the shots, sending members of your family to any way out of the city, the airport, the train station, major roadways, and the marina; the police where there already but family members were quick to join them, not trusting your safety with the police.
-But here it was, almost seven and a half hours later, now dark out, no leads, and no you.
-The van had been found abandoned and Hercules nearly went feral, seeing blood in the back seat, relaying the message to Jack and Loki, who were with him, what he had found.
-Odin broke out the big guns, using his abilities to see all, sending out Muninn and Huginn to patrol high in the sky, joining the valkyries who had busted out their winged horses.
-Tempers had been flared almost instantly, fighting breaking out between your loved ones because they were scared and furious that you had been taken.
-Zerofuku had split into the Seven Lucky Gods, to get more manpower in the hunt for you, but so far no luck.
-Muninn saw lights in an abandoned building near the marina, it looked like a warehouse of sorts, and he landed on the roof before hanging from the ledge to flip down to look in through a window, see a group of men laughing around a fire pit they had made, smoking and drinking.
-He froze, seeing your little body laying nearby, unconscious, not moving, and he could see that you were bleeding from a wound on your head and your arms and legs were covered in bruises, your arms duct taped behind your back.
-He quickly let go and flew off to sound the alarm, finding Raiden, Shiva and Thrud to be the closest.
-Thrud went to get the police and call the others, sending the coordinates while Shiva and Raiden wasted no time and followed the raven to the warehouse.
-Shiva was ready to rush in and Raiden, being levelheaded just for a moment, caught him, “Wait a second, we need to see where Y/N is, they could try to go for her if we just run in.”
-Shiva clenched his teeth tightly, tears stinging his eyes before they peeked in, seeing your broken little body laying on the cold hard ground.
-They shared a small nod and moved to the side of the building where you were, so they could burst in and be right there for you.
-Raiden punched his fists together, inhaling deeply, “I’ll get you in and I’m gonna go for you Y/N.” Shiva smirked almost evilly, giving him a nod as they stood.
-You woke up to the sounds of screams and what sounded like punches, making you whine softly before pain bloomed everywhere and you cried out in pain.
-You managed to turn over, just slightly, and you saw Raiden and Shiva both fighting the mean men who had taken you and hit you.
-Raiden, being the closest, heard you cry out and he punched the man he was grappling with back, turning to you, his eyes widen and quickly came over, scooping you up, holding you to his chest.
-You whined as he hit several of your bruises and wounds, not intentionally, and your arms hurt being taped behind you.
-Shiva kicked the last men, sending him through the wall before you all heard police sirens approaching. Raiden grabbed Shiva’s shoulder as he approached one of the men, wanting to kill him, halting his actions, which made the god start before he saw you shaking in Raiden’s arms.
-The three of you exited the building quickly as police ran up and Adam, who was in the back seat, quickly leapt out, “Y/N!” you looked up, seeing many members of your family arriving, either on winged horses, running, or with the police and paramedics.
-You were numb, almost blank, not responding to anything, you were crying, steady tears running down your cheeks as Raiden kneeled so one of the paramedics could cut the tape off of your arms.
-You concerned everyone when they ripped the tape off, and you didn’t flinch even an eyelash. Poseidon carefully helped you pull you arms back to the front, and he felt his throat clench, rage filling him as you pulled your arms into your chest, like you were curling up, trying to make yourself small.
-You wouldn’t answer any questions from the police, the paramedics, or your family, scaring them, showing them that you were traumatized, but anyone would be.
-When you heard that you needed to go to the hospital, you turned in Raiden’s arm, your little arms going around his neck, hugging him tightly.
-His hands held you to him, anguish on his face as he could feel you shaking as you refused to let him go, shaking your head when one of your other family members asked to take you, as Raiden would have a hard time fitting in the ambulance, but you refused, hugging him tighter, nails biting into his skin, but they didn’t even bother him.
-Several hours later you returned home, now bandaged up, wrapped in Shiva’s arms, as he was the only other one, beside Raiden, that you let hold you, as they had been the ones to save you.
-Eve was crying, seeing your body all bruised and banged up, but was relieved to know that you were only roughed up, your head wound, which was just a cut, was your most serious, needing four stitches.
-Jack and Beelzebub accompanied the police in the interrogation of the men who had taken you, and it was found out that they had been staking out the preschool for days now, as it was a high-end private preschool, and they had seen you being picked up and dropped off by many different people, different members of your family, and knew that your family had a lot of money, perfect to get a hefty ransom.
-You refused to let Shiva go, but he didn’t want to either, his multiple arms making you feel safe and secure.
-You recovered from your physical wounds fairly quickly, with lots of tender loving care, but mentally and emotionally, you were slowly breaking your family’s hearts.
-You could barely sleep, having night terrors of your kidnapping and abuse at the hands of your kidnapers, screaming out at all hours of the night.
-They’ve all to take turns sleeping with you, to help you feel safe and secure when you wake up crying.
-You were barely talking, withdrawn from everyone and everything, you barely interacted with your loved ones, you didn’t play or watch cartoons with them anymore, if was like you were just there and ate their food.
-Each day you would pick one of your family members and they would be the one that you would cling to that day, holding onto them when they picked you up, sitting on their lap at meals, and just clinging to them.
-You didn’t go to school, not because you didn’t want to go, but because your family didn’t want you to go, not wanting to risk your safety again, many had considered homeschooling you instead, so you would be safe at home.
-It took several weeks, plenty of love, and your family standing by your side at all times, you slowly began to heal, speaking a bit more, smiling up at them, and slowly started to sleep more soundly through the night.
-You never asked about your kidnappers, about why they had done that to you, which your family was grateful for, and you never saw the news articles in newspapers or on the news about how the kidnappers were found mutilated in their cells, the wounds coinciding with a bladed weapon and what looked to be claw marks, and police were baffled how there was no footage, no witnesses, and no leads.
-Hopefully, your now dead kidnapper would serve as a brutal reminder to anyone else who would ever be foolish enough to bother you.

Still a Little Bit Yours (Part 2) - fic
Characters: Jon Kent, Damian Wayne, various Batfam Pairing: jondami Summary: If there was one thing the world needed to learn, it was that you don’t hurt those Jonathan Kent loves. A/N: This is just basic smoop sprinkled with angst. Bruce gave Cass and Duke special permission to be extra rough on those who kidnapped Damian/hurt them in the first place. Jon and Damian wake up to Bruce on the chair and like half the fam sleeping on the end of the bed. Damian gets so mad at them. Let him sleep with his boyfriend in peace, dammit! Jon ends up now never leaving the bed and basically becomes Damian’s personal pillow as his recovery continues.
Part One | Part Two
~~
That call. That was all they needed, it turned out. The call that shattered Jon’s whole world was the one thing that might help piece it back together.
Even though it’d been over a month, the Bat-tech was able to hone in on the signal easily, and they were in the air and on their way back to France within three hours of Jon and Tim’s arrival to the Batcave.
Bruce wasn’t thrilled. He’d told Jon to go home at least seven times, that they’d contact him when Damian was safe. But at this point, Jon couldn’t believe that, not when they didn’t tell him he was missing in the first place.
He was even less thrilled when Jon grabbed the Justice League communicator out of his hand and smashed it, when Bruce said he was going to call Clark to take him back to Metropolis.
“I’m not ten anymore, Bruce.” Jon reminded with a dark giddiness as he dropped the shattered pieces onto the table. “And Damian is my boyfriend.”
“Is he still?” Jason quipped from nearby, hooking guns to his holsters. Tim had caught them all up with Jon’s side of things. “I mean…you just spent the last month thinking you were broken up and getting over him, right?”
“As part of the family that went to Apokolips to collect his dead body and resurrect him, I don’t think I have to tell you, Jason.” Jon grinned widely. “You don’t just get over Damian Wayne.”
Jason thought a moment, then snorted a laugh and clapped a hand on Jon’s shoulder.
“Okay. I get why he fell in love with Boy Scout Jr. now.” He chuckled.
“…For what it’s worth.” Jon added sheepishly, though, as Jason moved away, and Cassandra and Stephanie approached, moving towards their jet. “…Even if the breakup was real, I…I still wasn’t coping very well with it.”
The women both just smiled knowingly, and Steph jumped up to ruffle at his hair. And for a moment, Jon remembered that, for as much as he missed Damian the last month, he missed seeing the other Bats almost as much.
Bruce grumbled the rest of the time they spent gathering supplies and weapons about how Jon shouldn’t be there, and he didn’t want him nor his help. It was eventually Dick and Duke who took Bruce to the side and had him see the light. Begrudgingly allow Jon to come along.
“On one condition.” Bruce demanded, stomping up to him near the jet’s door. It’d already been decided that Jon would fly alongside the plane. “You do not engage. This is still an open investigation, and I don’t need you accidentally destroying any evidence.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it. I’m only there for Damian anyway.” Jon returned just as gruffly. “You guys be offense, I’ll be defense and extraction. No problem.”
Bruce glared at him for a moment more before raising his cowl and disappearing into the ship. Dick sighed from nearby, following after.
“He’s just worried.” He promised. “About you and Damian. And after already losing Damian like this, the thought of what might happen to you, he…”
Dick trailed off, and Jon was suddenly reminded that he was a lot closer to fifty than thirty these days, and had already lost a lot. Had already lost Damian a lot. And, clearly, it never got easier. Not for Dick or Bruce, or anyone in their family.
“…He’s still alive, Dick.” Jon whispered with what he hoped was an encouraging smile. “I can still hear his heartbeat. He’s still here, just…waiting for us.”
Dick nodded absently, before he met Jon’s gaze and let his mask of cautious hope fall across his face. “Then let’s go get him, Jonno.”
The flight was long. Too long. And even alone outside the ship, Jon listened through the communicator as the Bats planned their attack, outlined the known schematics of the compound that they found, and any potential hidden areas they might have missed.
At least every ten minutes, Bruce was reminding Jon that he was to not get involved. That he was there for Damian’s defense and safety only.
Jon only rolled his eyes, muttered an exasperated, “Yes, sir.” And focus on the heartbeat that got closer every second.
(Closer…and slower. But he didn’t share that part with the rest of the rescue party.)
The compound wasn’t far from where Duke and Cassandra had been beaten and abandoned, but the reason they couldn’t find it afterwards was because it was underground, and seemingly cloaked with tech none of them had ever seen before.
“Alien?” Duke had asked as they neared it.
“Or bankrolled by some selfish rich fuck.” Jason countered. “We’ll find out if Bruce Wayne does a hostile takeover of any companies here in the next week or so, I bet.”
“Hm.” Bruce grunted. But it wasn’t a no, so they all shared one last pre-battle laugh anyway.
They circled the area for a moment, doing some last minute recognizance. “I hear at least twenty-five heartbeats besides Damian’s, Batman.” Jon called. He flicked to his x-ray vision. “And they’re spread between what looks like two rooms.”
“Evenly?” Tim asked.
“Mmm, it doesn’t look like it.” Jon decided. “Looks like a 70-30 split.”
“Damian?” Cassandra asked softly.
“Can’t tell for sure.” Jon scanned the space again, just in case. “One body looks like it could be him, and it’s in the room with less people.”
“Remember, Superman-” Bruce started, but Jon, suddenly out of patience, cut him off.
“I’m defense. You’re offense. I’m there to get Damian out and that’s it.” He rolled his eyes. “I know, Batman.” He curled his hands into fists. “Now are we just going to hover up here all day or are we finally going to go get him?”
There was a moment of silence. Then Bruce calmly, emotionlessly, stoically announced:
“On my mark.”
For as grouchy, bossy, and by-the-book Batman always acted – he was still just a big kid with big toys. And his mark wasn’t a word, but an action. And that action was turning the nose of the jet towards the ground, so he could crash land into the underground bunker of the freaks who’d kidnapped his son.
Jon grinned, and suddenly remembered why Batman was a lot of people’s favorite superhero.
He stayed off to the ship’s side, just in case. In case Bruce actually lost control of the ship, if any of the other Bats ended up hurt in the process. So he listened as the nose slammed into the earth for any screams of pain.
But all he heard was the screeching of metal, and the crashing of ceiling materials as the jet lodged itself into the roof of the compound. There were screams now, of surprise from the building’s inhabitants, and shouts for some to grab weapons.
One last shout from Stephanie as Bruce opened the cockpit, and the Bats began to file out like ants. “Oh fuck yeah, was that fun!”
Everyone was fine. Everyone was safe.
So time to do his job and find the one that wasn’t.
He dove through the lingering smoke, dodging bodies being thrown by the mini-army of vigilantes that had just arrived. Dodged weapons from the incoming henchmen as they raced into the room to help their colleagues.
Jon didn’t pay them much mind other than to notice that their clothing was a little off. There wasn’t any body armor or helmets. Just dark maroon robes, sashed belts. They almost looked like priests.
You know, if they weren’t running at him with guns and knives and…was that one carrying an unlidded jar of acid?
He didn’t care. The Bats could handle them.
He tried to remember what he saw with his x-ray vision as he weaved through the halls. Bruce had crashed into the room with the most people, so that stood to reason that the pseudo-priests Jon had seen were coming from the room with less people. The smaller room, the room where he thought Damian was.
Well, if those priests came from where Damian was, that was even less people to take out than he was originally planning.
He let Damian’s heartbeat guide him. And for a moment, he remembered when he listened for it after the ‘breakup.’ How he thought the slowness of it meant Damian was calm, relaxed.
God, how could he be so stupid? It didn’t mean he was calm. It meant he was fucking dying. How could Jon be so dense? How could he not notice?
He reached a closed door and could hear panicked voices behind it, could hear Damian’s heartbeat at the loudest it’d been so far.
The door didn’t stand a goddamn chance.
He recognized that Damian wasn’t near it, so kicked the door as hard as he could without a care. It practically disintegrated under the heel of his boot. He heard the other people in the room scream as they were showered with splinters but didn’t care. Didn’t care about anything else right now.
He let his heat vision take over his vision as he stepped into the room. There were three people in here, each holding crude weapons – a stick, a shattered bottle and a chair.
“Leave.” Jon ordered. The people cowered only slightly, but stood their ground. And Jon didn’t have time for that. “Or I’ll make you.”
They gave it one last moment to try and be brave, and any other time Jon might commend them for it. Try to talk them down, be more like his dad.
But this wasn’t any other time.
So he turned to the chair and used his heat vision to turn it to ash.
And that was enough. The other two dropped their weapons and held up their hands. Jon shifted out of the doorframe and watched them as they ran for safety.
He stared after them until they turned a corner, going away from the sanctuary Bruce and the others were in, a bonus of course, though he knew the Bats could have handled them. Then he quickly turned back, scanning the room.
It wasn’t a jail cell, or a dungeon. Just an empty, ugly, dark room. There was a table in the corner, and a TV that showed the field outside, acting almost like a window.
There was a closed curtain in the corner, that clearly hid an alcove of some sort. Damian’s heartbeat was coming from there.
Jon doesn’t know how he crossed the room. One second he was by the door, and the next he was at the curtain, slowly pulling it back. Did he float? Did he run? He didn’t know.
“Damian?” He whispered as he tugged the sheet away. “Can you hear…?”
The question died on his lips at the sight in front of him. It was Damian all right, half naked and huddled against the corner of this makeshift pantry. He was thin, so thin, like he hadn’t eaten in the month since he’d been taken. His hair was longer, past his ears, and dirty. The grease shone in the dim light.
There were bruises and cuts all over his body, some of them looked infected. His eyes were black and swollen, his lip split in multiple places. Dried blood caked along his nostrils.
But that might not have even been the worst part.
Though, really, was there just one single worst part? Were the heavy chains around Damian’s neck, wrists and ankles that latched him to the wall the worst part? Or was it the barrage of needle marks that twisted up his inner arms all the way up to his jaw?
Jon’s eyes filled with tears. But not from pain, like they usually did. Not from hurt or emotions.
From utter, blinding fury.
They did this to him. Those fucking fake priests that he’d just showed mercy to did this to him. To Damian. To the love of his fucking life.
He’d kill them. He’d go snap all their necks right now. Break every bone in each of their bodies and let them die slowly and painfully. Then burn them into ash and throw their remains in a dumpster.
He even felt himself take a step back, to do just that. But stopped when he heard Damian let out a wheezing exhale.
“Damian?” He asked again. Damian had never answered the first time. Was he even conscious? Was he aware of what was happening? He took the last few steps forward and kneeled, putting a hand on Damian’s shoulder. “D, can you hear me?”
Damian tensed at his touch and tried to jerk away, but just ended up bouncing his shoulder painfully against the stone wall behind him. When he looked up, his eyes looked almost feral, but them immediately softened as recognition took hold.
He blinked once. Twice. “…Jonathan?”
Jon swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded with a sad smile.
“What are you doing here?” Damian asked, even as Jon shifted his hand from Damian’s shoulder to his face. Damian’s skin was cold. “They…” Damian’s eyes were suddenly angry. “If they’ve laid a hand on you, I swear I’ll-”
“Nothing of the sort.” Jon promised. “We’re here to get you out of here. Take you home.”
Damian blinked and slumped back. “We?”
“Your family.” Jon explained vaguely as he let his hand fall, run gently over a scab along Damian’s chest. “God, I’m so glad I found you.”
“…I’m sorry.” Damian murmured, and Jon looked up at him in confusion. “I…I lost track of the days some time ago, but you must have been worried sick. I’m sorry for causing you any distress.”
Jon’s stomach twirled in guilt. Because he wasn’t worried, not at all. And was now the time to say that? To say ‘Oh, no, I wasn’t worried, because it turns out the psychopaths who kidnapped you pretended to be you and broke up with me.’?
No. No it absolutely fucking wasn’t.
“…Nothing is your fault.” Jon decided on. He reached forward and grabbed the collar around Damian’s neck, snapping it with a quick jerk of his hands. He followed suite with the chains around his arms and legs too. “Can you walk? Your family is taking care of the others, my only job is to get you safe.”
“…I don’t know.” Damian hummed honestly, eyes fluttering slightly. “And I don’t know if my body is strong enough to try right now.”
Jon looked back up at him with another smile. Less sad this time, more genuine. Let it reach his eyes. “No problem.” He returned his hand to Damian’s face, gently pushed his long hair out of the way. Without thinking, he leaned forward and kissed Damian as gently as he could, then pressed their foreheads together. “Jesus, I’m just…just so glad you’re alive.”
Damian scoffed a quiet laugh, and opened his mouth to retort, but suddenly there was a noise from the room behind them. They both looked back to see Batman storming in through the door.
“Superboy?” He asked as he stopped, glanced around Jon. “We…all good here? You found him?”
Jon squeezed Damian’s face just slightly before standing and turning back. “Yes, sir. Alive and well.”
Bruce nodded. “And the rest are taken care of. So let’s get the hell out of here.”
Jon nodded. “Can you help me get him up? I don’t think he can walk real well right now.”
Bruce seemed to hesitate, glancing past Jon’s shoulder again, but nodded, and took a step towards him.
And as soon as he was close, Jon grabbed the side of his head and slammed it through the closest wall.
“…That’s twice now you’ve gotten my name wrong.” Jon spit, looming over the man as he groaned in pain. “And that’s twice you’ve done a piss poor imitation of someone I care about.”
Batman looked up at Jon in confusion, borderline hurt. But then the eyes widened in realization, and instantly shifted from Bruce’s icy blue to a sickly yellow. “You.”
“Me.” Jon grinned wildly. “And I’ll admit it – you got me the first time. Because I had no idea what had happened, so of course, why wouldn’t I believe the phone call I was getting?”
Batman began to shift now, lose his muscle mass, his uniform began to change to a deep maroon.
“But then I was told the truth, and all the clues that didn’t make sense before suddenly began to piece together.” Jon hummed, picking the man up by his collar. He was much smaller than Bruce. Much thinner. Much older. “So when they said they were coming to kick your ass, I knew there was nowhere else I’d rather be.”
He slammed the man into the wall again, but held him there. Used his other hand to grab the man’s throat.
“Why.” He hissed. “Tell me why.”
The man choked slightly, feet scrabbling for floor, hands grabbing at Jon’s. “Lazarus.” He wheezed. “He…he carries the waters of Lazarus in his blood. I saw it in his eyes. The green of his eyes. In the field. I knew.” A cough. “I knew it was fate that we found him. He was the one who was going to make us immortal.”
Jon’s eyes widened. The needle marks. The acid the other man was carrying from this room. Experiments, no doubt. To get the magical Lazarus waters out of Damian’s blood that they believed was there.
But Damian was stubborn, and probably put up a fight. So they beat him into submission, tortured him, stabbed him with needles to drain him dry. But they couldn’t kill him, oh no. Because if Damian died they’d lose their chance at the power of the Lazarus Pit.
They were using him, like he was no more than a thing.
Jon’s nostrils flared. “I’m going to fucking kill you, you bastard.”
“…Beloved.” Damian whispered, and Jon found himself turning towards him without thinking. Damian looked tired, still slumped against that wall, head leaning against the stone. “Don’t.” He closed his eyes. “Just…leave him for Batman.”
Batman’s demands came rushing back. They were offense. Jon was defense.
Jon’s only job was to get Damian safe.
Silently, Jon nodded, but instead of dropping the man, gave himself one last piece of revenge, and threw the man across the room into the table and fake-window TV. The man gave a low moan, and it sounded like music to Jon’s ears as he walked back over to Damian, and gathered him into his arms.
Damian didn’t complain about being held, didn’t complain about being coddled. Just wrapped an arm around Jon’s neck and leaned against his shoulder.
“Thank you.” He whispered, and Jon just kissed his forehead, trying to ignore the mere fact of how much pain Damian must have been in. How exhausted.
But as he crossed the room, he stopped near the door, just once, and turned to the man.
He didn’t care who he was. What his name was. But he did care about one thing.
“Why did you call me?”
The man didn’t uncurl from his fetal position, didn’t even open his eyes. “Because we knew you would come for him.” He hissed. “The lovers always do.”
Jon blinked, and watched the man for a moment, before turning and walking out of the room, Damian a calming weight in his arms.
~~
It was a cult in that underground bunker, Jon learned later. One obsessed with becoming immortal so they could be gods. They’d kidnapped, tortured and killed at least ten people over the years before they took Damian, all for the same reason.
Jon honestly couldn’t care less.
After escaping the compound, Jon flew to a previously agreed upon spot in Geneva, where Batman had a safe house that Alfred had flown ahead to. He radioed onto the open line as he did so, and Duke, mid-battle, shouted an affirmative, and promise that they’d meet him there.
Damian could barely hold onto consciousness during the flight, and it only made Jon fly faster, to an almost dangerous speed.
Alfred met them on the balcony, and motioned for Jon to follow him after he landed. A penthouse in Geneva wasn’t exactly a hospital, so instead of a medical cot, Jon carefully laid Damian in an extravagant king-sized bed.
Jon helped where he could, which, admittedly, wasn’t in very many places. The thing he was best at, he found, was getting in the way. But, bless him, Alfred never chastised him. Never told him to move.
“This is almost a luxury.” Alfred had quipped at one point as he checked Damian’s IV bag. “Normally I’m trying to work around at least five anxious persons, not one calm one.”
Jon had tried to smile, but it didn’t come out right. Alfred seemed to understand, though, and just gave Jon’s shoulder a quick squeeze as he passed him.
Finally, Alfred proclaimed himself finished, having done all he could. He’d disinfected and wrapped wounds, given Damian painkillers and set up the IVs to replenish Damian’s fluids. The rest of his healing would come in time. For now, he’d be in the kitchen fixing Damian something gentle to eat, before preparing food for the rest of the rescue party’s eventual arrival.
Jon nodded, and sat at Damian’s bedside.
It was almost midnight by the time the rest of the Bats arrived. They explained to Jon and Alfred their investigation, and what the cult had told them. Got checked out by Alfred, came and checked on Damian, and then one by one, they each went off to another room to settle down for the rest of the night.
Jon remained at Damian’s side.
And he didn’t move. Not to sleep, he just laid his head on the mattress. Not to eat breakfast or any meal, just balanced it on his lap. He didn’t even get up to offer his seat when anyone came in to visit their brother.
He just sat there, staring at Damian’s battered face and holding his cold hand.
Damian didn’t wake up that day, or even the day after. He could tell the others were starting to get antsy about it, and agitated. What if Damian didn’t wake up? What if that cult had actually killed him, and he’d survived just long enough to see them all again? To get taken to safety?
So the Bats threw themselves into the investigation to distract themselves. Who was cult? Who funded them? Who had they killed?
Jon just stayed on his stool at Damian’s side.
It was the morning of the third day, some time before dawn. Jon had his head pillowed against his arm on the mattress next to Damian’s elbow, half turned to watch the moon reflect off the clouds through the balcony doors.
He listened as Damian inhaled, but paid it no mind. Not until: “…What are you doing?”
Jon sat up so fast he made himself dizzy. In the dim light, Damian’s half-lidded sea foam eyes almost glowed.
“W-what?”
“What are you doing?” Damian repeated groggily.
“I…I couldn’t sleep, so I was just watching the stars…” He started, but trailed off when Damian lazily waved a hand.
“I mean, why are you sitting on that stool?” Damian asked. He flopped his hand out to the open side of the bed. “There’s clearly space here. Even if you can’t sleep, at least let yourself be comfortable.”
Jon instantly dropped his gaze to his knees, and even half conscious, Damian noticed.
“Beloved, what’s wrong?” He asked sleepily, weakly reaching his hand towards Jon.
Jon pulled his hand away.
This time, Damian’s inhale was sharp. He pulled his hand back and dropped it onto his own stomach. “…Alright.”
“No, it’s not…!” Jon suddenly realized how that looked. Knew how Damian would take it. “I don’t…You didn’t…” He sighed, dropped his face into his hands. “I don’t deserve it.”
“What?” Damian asked. “Deserve what?”
“To hold your hand. To lay in your bed.” Jon groaned. “You.”
Damian hesitated, grunted softly as he shifted. “I’m afraid I don’t understand.”
“The day you went missing, they…that shapeshifter guy, he stole your phone and he called me. As you.” Jon closed his eyes, trying to hide even further. “He…he broke up with me as you. And I…it didn’t make any sense, it never made any sense to me, but I believed him.”
Another moment of quiet. “…Oh.”
“I know. I’m an idiot.” Jon lamented. “Because how could I not know my own boyfriend? How could I believe you would break up with me over the phone?”
“Or…ever.” Damian agreed. “Unless you want…”
“Or ever!” Jon cut off dramatically, curling his covered face to his knees. “How could I believe you’d do that, and not question it! Not question that you never answered your phone after that, never told anyone, never came back to Metropolis for any reason! Even dream you tried to tell me and I just…”
“Dream me?” Damian asked. Suddenly there were fingers stroking at Jon’s hair, and he held his breath. “You dreamed about me?”
“I thought about you every second of every day.” Jon admitted glumly. “I felt like such a loser, not being able to get over you.” He paused, curled into himself more. “For believing it all in the first place.” He shook his head. “I don’t even deserve to be sitting here next to you, Damian. I don’t.”
He felt Damian’s fingers stroke for a few more seconds, then heard Damian scoff a laugh.
“Jonathan, you’re so funny.”
Those fingers in his hair were instantly at his chin, tilting his face up and out of his hands. Damian, looking beyond exhausted, was smiling at him.
“Come lay with me.” Damian asked softly.
Jon stared up at him for a moment, let his eyes wander down the bandages and new scars, then back up. “You shouldn’t want me to.” He breathed. “In fact, you should break up with me for real, because I’m such a fucking-”
“Do you want me to?” Damian asked seriously. “Do you want me to break up with you? Would you like us to remain apart? Because if after this past month that’s what you’ve decided is best for you, then I will do my best to give it to-”
“No.” Jon said instantly. “No, I…” His breath trembled. “No, I don’t want us to be apart anymore.”
“Nor do I.” Damian agreed with a gentle smile. He laid his arm across the bed. “…Please.”
Jon stared at him for a moment, then sighed and stood, carefully floating over Damian to drop onto his other side.
Damian weakly reached up to pull Jon into his arms, like a child grabbing for a balloon, and Jon let himself be dragged into Damian’s side. Latched onto Damian’s waist and hid his face against Damian’s chest.
His heartbeat was loud now. Still slow, a little too slow for Jon’s liking, but loud, and right under Jon’s ear, right where it was supposed to be.
“I’m sorry.” Jon whispered, as he felt Damian kiss at his hair, gently run his fingers along Jon’s shoulders. “I’m so sorry, Damian.”
“You have nothing to apologize for. If anything, I should apologize to you, for what that shifting bastard did.” Damian hummed, and already Jon could sense he was falling back into unconsciousness.
Because he feels safe, Jon didn’t let himself think. He feels safe here with me.
“…I love you.” Jon breathed, closing his eyes, squeezing Damian as tightly as he dared. “I love you so much, Damian.”
“I love you as well, Jonathan.” Damian answered just as softly. “For as long as I live. No matter what anyone tells you, please always remember that.” He carefully laid his hand over the one Jon had on his hip. “…Thank you for finding me. For saving me.”
“Always.” Jon smiled, looking up at Damian. Damian’s eyes were already closed once more, his breathing evening out. “Always and forever.”
“Forever and ever.” Damian mumbled as he drifted off. Jon watched him for a few more moments, until he was sure Damian was asleep again. Then he leaned up and left a careful kiss to Damian’s cheek. Lingered for a moment, then curled up under Damian’s chin, clung to him like he was a giant teddy bear.
He let his boyfriend’s heartbeat lull him to sleep.

RWBY Musings #60: No Place Like Home. What if…Oscar didn’t run away but left to phone home?
Tumblr media
Okay so in light of the upcoming C9 Pre-Christmas hiatus I wanted to make this quick Pinehead musing post since I’ve received a good number of prompts from fellow FNDM fam about Oscar running away and possibly getting kidnapped by the villains. I myself made a small theory about Oscar running away to the Wall of Argus to probably jump---a hunch I now kind of regret because it adds to the list of negative possibilities that could befall our precious freckled farm boy now that he’s gone missing in Argus. That being said, this squiggle meister has come to present a new theory.
One that’s a more light-hearted and might satisfy those of you who have been itching to learn more about Oscar’s relationship with his aunt. What if…Oscar didn’t leave to run away. Blake did suggest for everyone to have some time apart from each other following the whole altercation between Jaune and Oscar. So perhaps… Oscar did just that. He left so that he can find the nearest CCT Tower in Argus to make a very touching and important phone call to his Auntie Pine back on the farm. His familial voice of reason. Let’s discuss this further.
I have this Pinehead headcanon where Oscar has a habit where whenever he’s completely stressed out, he has a tendency to bottle things up along. He always tries to take on too many things he can’t handle and when he becomes too overwhelmed by his qualms, he would always seek out his closest person for immediate consolation.
On the hero squad, the closest companion Oscar has is Ruby Rose. What if…Oscar tried to go Ruby for solace but after he overhears her mentioning to Maria of how frustrated she felt over everything and how she feels she can’t trust Ozpin again, that’s when Oscar decides to leave and go elsewhere. However, I don’t think Oscar ran away per say. Folks have pointed out that we didn’t get to see Oscar leave. That we didn’t get to see him back his things. That’s because I’m starting to think that Oscar didn’t run. I’m curious to know if his belongings are still intact in his room.
Then again, Oscar didn’t have much stuff. All he had was his backpack and the Oz-cane. So even if Oscar was just going for a simple stroll around town, he’d probably grab his bag because it’s all he had. So regardless, I think Oscar still took his backpack because that’s basically all that he owns so of course he’ll take it with him.
As I’ve said before, Oscar doesn’t like seeing Ruby stressed. So Oscar probably went to talk to Ruby but after hearing how she’s feeling, he decided to not burden her down more with his own troubles. So what does he do? He leaves to go seek consult from someone else, somewhere else.
Do you know what I would actually REALLY love to see? What if…Oscar just went to find the nearest communication tower in Argus. Why? So that he can make a very important phone call home to someone special. His dear ole Auntie Pine.
My hunch is that back home, Oscar probably shared a very close bond with his aunt. After all, she seemed to be the only family he had when he was introduced in V4 but their small exchange back then led me to believe that they were quite close. Back home, Auntie Pine was probably Oscar’s counsellor. The one person he’s always turned to ; more so than his parents, whenever he felt like his world was crumbling underneath his feet and her warm support was what always managed to get the farm boy back on his feet.
We all have that one person in our lives---be it friend or family that we can always go to for advice on anything and we trust that person’s word the most because since that person knows us best, they’re always able to give advice best tailored to suit our emotional needs and help us see the best answer to our problems. For Oscar, I feel like that person was his Auntie Pine.
I’d love it if Oscar left just to go call his aunt back home because with everything that transpired with his since he left home, he really needed to talk to her. I’d love to think that Oscar is the stubborn type who’d always try to handle things on his own but when things are too much for him, he’s always go to Auntie Pine. I’d love to think that Oscar left home on good terms with his Auntie Pine. Though we never got to see him actually say goodbye to her or phone her back home before leaving for Argus, I’d love to think that Oscar still kept in touch with Auntie Pine just to update her on how he’s doing. After all, she’s his family. And I’d love to think that Oscar was very close with his family because they were only people he knew for most of his life.
I’d love it if as a kid, Oscar had a habit of always running to his aunt whenever he was feeling pressured about a problem he was having. I’d like to think that Oscar shared a close bond to his aunt that’s been there since he was a little boy and even as a teenager, that part about him hasn’t changed. I’d like to think that Auntie Pine had a nickname for Oscar that she called him back home. My theory is that Oscar’s pet name back on the farm was something like ‘sugar bean’ or to put it more fittingly,‘Tornado Oscar’ (just to have that lil tie in to the Wizard of Oz) to refer to the fact that he always would wait until his problems become too much for him and when the pressures rise, he’d just leave them to billow around him before finally coming to his auntie to quell the storm.
Tumblr media
I’d love it if Oscar’s aunt’s name is Dorothy. I know some fans would like for her to be Em but I personally like Dorothy Pine or Aunt Do, as Oscar might call her. Either can work.
I’d like to believe that one of Oscar’s flaws, apart from his stubbornness, is his habit of taking on things that are far out of his control and allowing them to overwhelm him to a tipping point. He has to learn to call off the storm before allowing it to overtake him completely. I’d like to think it’s a trait he’s always had since he was a little boy growing up in the Anima farmlands and I can imagine Auntie Pine commenting and saying something like that to Oscar if he called her. That despite being away from home, Oscar still hasn’t changed. He’s still the same Oscar who’d always try to take on things that he’s still too young to handle and would always confide in his aunt whenever he’s hurt.
I want to see Oscar phone home because I think this is a great way for us to finally see Auntie Pine. Like maybe there’s a CCT in Argus that Oscar wants to use to patch himself to his aunt back home. It’s my understanding that the CCT’s only don’t work for communication between kingdoms. But if it’s within the same continent it should be fine, right? Oscar should be able to call home to his aunt and get to speak to her---hear her voice. Maybe even see her face after a month apart.
I really want Oscar to see his aunt. It’s something I’ve wanted to see since the start of V6. If the story has shifted in Oscar’s favour, you can’t develop him without letting us meet his family. See his aunt. I’ll admit I’d be quite disappointed this Oscar Missing segment doesn’t lead into us finally meeting his aunt and seeing more of their relationship.
I’d love to think that Auntie Pine was the kind of aunt who was probably surprisingly complacent with Oscar leaving home. Though she had her worries as any parental guardian would have, however she still allowed Oscar to leave because at 14 years old, she understood that Oscar was starting to grow up.  And by Auntie Pine’s ole school understanding, a part of becoming an adult is making your own decisions and leaving home to venture to newer territories. Auntie Pine understood that if Oscar was to become a man and learn to stand on his own two feet, she couldn’t coddle him.
She had to allow him to leave the nest and fly to somewhere over the rainbow, way up high.
I’d like to think that Auntie Pine was quite proud to hear that Oscar was going to Haven to become a huntsman. Though Oscar probably never told her the whole truth for obvious reasons, I’d love it if Oscar left things on good terms with his aunt. This would make a call home even more impactful especially for Oscar’s development.
Imagine…Oscar finding his way to the nearest Argus CCT. Calling his aunt and the minute she answers and he sees her face and/or hears her voice for the first time in a month, Oscar just breaks down completely and unloads everything on his aunt. Oscar running away to go phone home to his aunt because she was his counsellor---his person, is something I want to see.
Like him being strong this whole time but the instant his sees and/or hears his aunt, he just lets that bravado all go and doesn’t even bother trying to be strong anymore. He lets himself fall apart in front of his aunt because one) he knows even if he tried to be strong, Auntie Pine will just see right through it and call him out on it anyways and two) after everything Oscar has been through these past few episodes, I doubt that ‘feigning strength’ is something he’d want to do anymore. At least, not in front of his aunt. The one person in all of Remnant who knew him, as Oscar Pine, best.
And what I like about this possibility is that we can get Auntie Pine providing Oscar with the advice he needs to hear. Like picture…Auntie Pine knowing her nephew so well that without even needing to know the full story, she immediately the real problem. She understands that even if Oscar calls her in tears regarding his frustrations of being a huntsman, she knows that despite this, Oscar isn’t ready to give up.
Tumblr media
After all, according to Auntie Pine, the Pines are strong people. Oscar’s parents were strong. Auntie Pine is strong and Oscar has that same strength running through his veins because it’s in his blood. Auntie Pine knows Oscar well enough to know that if he was ready to stop being a huntsman, he would have left a long time ago and returned home without even telling her.
I’d like to think that when Oscar is ready to quit something---to say he’s had enough;  he’d just do it without hesitation. But from the time it’s something he believes in and he’s not ready to give up, he always comes to his aunt so that she can renew his strength to keep moving. It’s a trait he’s always had as a boy and that part about him hasn’t changed.
I really want Oscar to call home. Forget every hunch I had about Oscar running away. This is the one I want to see come true in the canon!
I want Oscar Pine to find his way to the nearest CCT in Argus to phone home to his Auntie Pine because he misses her and misses home but he doesn’t want to quit being a huntsman and leave the heroes. He just wants to hear his aunt’s voice again and be reminded through her of his own strength. Of his own personality. Of his own life. That he is Oscar Pine.
Everyone keeps treating Oscar like he’s just Ozpin or another Ozpin in the making. Like he’s not even his own person anymore. So if Oscar is feeling that way, the best person to go to is someone who knew him best from his old life. He needs someone to remind him that he’s still very much Oscar Pine and the only person who can provide him with that validation is his family. Not the heroes. Not even Ruby Rose. But his family. His Auntie Pine.
I want this so much! And what would a cool tie in is if the Argus CCT is located in the same area as the Great Wall of Argus. So even if Oscar finishes talking to his aunt, he can always go up there and enjoy the view of the city, just to clear his head some more and really let his aunt’s words sink in before going back to everyone.
Tumblr media
NO kidnapping. NO running into Neo or Cinder or Watts or Tyrian or Hazel or Tom, Dick, Harry, Jane…NO!
If this is Oscar’s time. His development. If this is his arc, then I want it to go undisturbed.
I want the CRWBY to dedicate two episodes to Oscar. Just as how V6 C3 and C4 went Ozpin. I want C9 and 10 to go to Oscar.
How Squiggles Thinks the Next Episodes Will Be:
I want C9 to be one flashback episode where the group split up into two teams of four to cover more ground searching for Oscar in Argus. The teams are as followed: Jaune, Blake, Ruby and Weiss form one team while and Ren, Nora, Yang and Maria form another.
Throughout the episode, we get to see Oscar-centric memories from Mistral from the perspective of Team RNJR since they were the four who spent more time in Oscar’s company before the arrival of the rest of the heroes. Like imagine Team RNJR Scooby-Doo-ing their way through this by recalling their memories of times they each individually spent with Oscar to sort of piece together where they think he would go in Argus.
Tumblr media
So picture C9 featuring four Oscar-centric memories from the times he spent with Ren, Jaune, Nora and finally Ruby is last and her memory with Oscar is actually one taken before the Argus departure when he was still in recovery. By the end of C9, the group will most definitely figure out where Oscar would go through Ruby’s memory. However something will happen for Ruby to not go. Like in the midst of their search, Ruby gets a weird call from Qrow and has to leave to check it out. So in her place, the others went ahead and they find Oscar standing alone on the Wall of Argus looking out at the sunrise. His back is turned as his attention is focused on the sky. Maybe there’s even a rainbow in the sky. I dunno. But the minute someone says his name, he looks around and that’s how the episode ends.
In C10, that’s when we’ll get the full Oscar-centric backstory episode where we get to see Oscar’s lone venture through Argus. We get to see the search story from Oscar’s perspective as he walks through Argus trying to find the nearest CCT tower and throughout the episode, it cuts goes back and forth between the present and more flashbacks but this time it’s from Oscar’s past home with his Auntie Pine. While I doubt we’ll actually learn anything about Oscar’s parents other than confirming them to be deceased and seeing their faces through a family portrait, I feel like if we’re going to get Oscar’s past, it’s going to focus on his relationship with his aunt the most. I feel like this can confirm Oscar sharing a close bond with Auntie Pine. After all, she was the only one introduced in his story back in V4 so she must be the most important family he has.
So part of the episode is going through flashbacks of Oscar’s time with Auntie Pine leading up to the moment before he left home. You know that missing chunk of time from V4 that fans complained about not seeing Oscar’s whole thought process before finally coming to the decision to leave home. I feel like that’s what’s going to be focused in that Oscar flashback.
We’re going to see the crowning moment that made Oscar finally give into Ozpin’s words and leave home. We’ll also get to see him say goodbye to his Aunt. That will be the final memory before we cut to Oscar reaching the CCT and phoning home to call his aunt for advice.
Then the last bit of the episode will fast-forward to everyone minus Ruby finding Oscar and talking to him and having their apologies or whatever. We get to see Jaune’s apology.
Tumblr media
The reason why I want to get some Oscar memories with Jaune is because I personally would love to know of any personal interactions Jaune had with Oscar. Same for Ren and Nora. It can definitely help solidify the idea of Oscar joining up with JNR and reforming Team JNPR. And I’d love to think that Jaune is another person Oscar secretly admires and looks up to among the heroes ever since the time Ruby pulled the two together back in V5 C4.
Picture…Jaune, by the finale of V6, approaching Oscar and saying to him:
“From the beginning, you never had a place on this team. You were introduced to us as Professor Ozpin and for the most part that’s how some; most of us saw you. How I saw you. Just another version of Ozpin. But, I see more now that you’re not another Ozpin. You’re more than that. The two of you may share a body but you, Oscar are your own person.
I…don’t know if I’ll ever be able to put fully trust Ozpin again if he ever comes back. However, I would like to think that I can you. But you still don’t have a place on our team. Which is why I--- We would like to offer you one.”
I’d love it if we got a scene like during the finale after everything has simmered down and the group are prepared to depart for Atlas. I’d love it if by the end of V6, Oscar not only has his growth but he’d also fully integrated himself with the heroes and he did it without Ozpin’s intervention. Sorry to all the Ozpinheads but…I personally don’t think Ozpin is going to come back by the end of V6.
I feel like Ozpin’s departure is a direr issue that could be extended to another volume. Besides I would really like it if the final episodes of this volume just focused primarily on Oscar’s development and him coming into his own strength. Awakening his own power. Creating his own spot on the team and really becoming his own person.
Up until this point, Oscar has depended solely on Ozpin to give him an identity with the heroes but I want this volume to just be Oscar finding his own place outside of Ozpin.
This is why I don’t think Ozpin will return and quite frankly, I don’t want him to. Nothing against Ozpin but I’m not ready for him to come back and I don’t think any of the actual heroes are either. Besides order for Oz to return, I strongly believe that Oscar will be the one to bring him back. I think only Oscar has that power and I want that to fall under his story.
Bringing Oz back home and mending the bonds he has with everyone. That’s a plot I can see happening down the line. However for now, for just V6 and its final five episodes; let it just be all about Oscar. PLEASE!
So to conclude:
I wasn’t kidding when I said it’s Oscar’s time to shine and when it happens, his light is going to shine brighter than a supernova. If Yang Xiao Long burns like gold then Oscar Pine will shine like gold.
The true golden boy.
P.S. If Oscar Pine doesn’t get his own character song after this volume, I will riot! Just saying.
