IN MY BLOOD
Y/N SENNA x CHARLES LECLERC
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
INTERLUDE: Grid Walks
2000 — Age 5
“Hello, Y/N. How are you enjoying race day so far?” Martin asked, bending down to her level.
Y/N grinned mischievously, “Oh Mr. Brundle, I love it! But you know what? I've been to so many races that I think I know this place better than you.”
Martin chuckled, intrigued by her confidence. “Is that so? Well perhaps you can give me a guided tour sometime.”
Y/N's eyes sparkled with excitement. “Deal. But first you have to catch me!” With that, she darted off into the paddock.
“Hey, where are you going?” Martin called out, chasing after her.
But Y/N was already gone, her laughter echoing through the air. Martin found himself in a comical game of cat and mouse, weaving through the paddock, trying to keep up with the energetic young Senna.
Finally, after a series of twists and turns, Martin managed to catch up with Y/N. She was standing by the side of the track, giggling uncontrollably. “Gotcha!” she exclaimed, clearly proud of her mini-adventure.
Martin gasped for breath, a grin forming on his face. “Y/N, you really gave me a run for my money. You're as fast as your father on the track!”
Y/N smiled in delight, her small chest puffed with pride. “Thank you, Mr. Brundle. I'm just getting started.”
2004 — Age 9
Spotting Y/N near her father's memorial, Martin approached her with a smile. “Hello, Y/N. How's the karting going?”
Y/N's eyes lit up and she eagerly launched into a passionate monologue about her karting experiences. “Mr. Brundle, you won't believe it. I had this incredible race last weekend. I started from the back but I overtook one kart after another and finished on the podium!”
Martin listened intently, captivated by Y/N's enthusiasm. “That sounds like an amazing race. It's clear that the racing genes run strong in your family. Your father would be proud.”
Y/N nodded vigorously, her ponytail bouncing with excitement. “I want to be the best, just like him. I practice every day and study every race I watch.”
Martin couldn't help but smile at Y/N's determination. “I have no doubt that you'll achieve great things. Keep pushing and one day we might see you in a Formula 1 car.”
2008 — Age 13
On the grid, Martin spotted Y/N intently observing the mechanics working on the cars. He approached her with a smile, ready to engage in a conversation about the technical side of the sport.
“Y/N, it's great to see you here. What fascinates you most about Formula 1?”
Y/N's eyes sparkled as she replied, “Hi, Martin! I love everything about it. The aerodynamics, the engineering, the strategies — it's like a puzzle waiting to be solved. Did you know that the airflow around the car affects its performance? It's amazing!”
Martin raised an eyebrow, impressed by Y/N's knowledge. “Well, you certainly know your stuff. I might have to come to you for technical insights in the future.”
Y/N beamed with pride. “Absolutely! Anytime you need a crash course in this side of F1, just let me know.”
Martin chuckled, enjoying their banter. "I might take you up on that offer. Just be prepared for a barrage of questions."
Y/N nodded eagerly. “Bring it on, I'm always up for a challenge.”
As they continued their conversation, Martin couldn't help but notice Y/N's genuine passion and curiosity for the technical aspects of Formula 1. It was clear that she had inherited her father's analytical mind and thirst for knowledge.
“Y/N, you remind me so much of your father. He had a similar fascination with the technical side of racing,” Martin remarked, a touch of nostalgia in his voice.
Y/N's eyes widened with excitement. “Really? That means so much to me. I've always looked up to him and admired his approach to racing. If I can carry even a fraction of his dedication, I'll be happy.”
Martin smiled warmly at her. “You're already making your own mark. Keep nurturing that passion and who knows where it will take you?”
2012 — Age 17
Martin found himself amidst the bustling paddock, searching for the now seventeen-year-old Y/N Senna. He spotted her in deep conversation with her future team, a determined expression on her face.
Approaching her with a smile, Martin congratulated her on signing her first Formula 1 contract. “Y/N, congratulations on your contract! How does it feel to be back in the paddock but as a driver this time?”
Y/N's face lit up with joy as she replied, “Thank you, Martin! It's an incredible feeling — a dream come true. I can't wait to show what I'm capable of on the track.”
Martin nodded, his excitement mirroring Y/N's. “I have no doubt that you'll do amazing things. Your journey has been incredible to witness, from that mischievous young girl to the talented racer standing before me today.”
Y/N filled with gratitude, her eyes glistening with determination. “Thank you. Your support means the world to me. I'll give it my all and make my family proud.”
Martin patted her shoulder, a paternal gesture filled with encouragement. “Remember, you carry the legacy of a true racing legend. Your father's spirit and passion live on through you. Embrace the challenge, enjoy every moment, and keep making us all proud.”
As the interview concluded, Martin couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and anticipation for the upcoming season, where Y/N Senna would make her Formula 1 racing debut.
With a playful twinkle in his eye, Martin leaned closer to Y/N and whispered, “You know, your father was known for his incredible speed and skill on the track. But you seem to have inherited his mischievous spirit too.”
Y/N laughed, her eyes shining with a mix of innocence and determination. “Maybe I got it from him. I can't promise I won't give you another run for your money someday, Martin.”
Martin chuckled, his heart filled with warmth. “I'll be ready for the challenge. Just make sure I have my running shoes on.”
With a final wave and a shared laughter, Martin left the grid, eagerly awaiting the moment when Y/N would grace the Formula 1 circuits as a driver. He knew that her journey would be filled with triumphs, challenges, and the unwavering support of so many motorsport legends.
As the engines roared and the lights dimmed on the current season, the motorsport world brimmed with anticipation for the next. They eagerly awaited the day when Y/N Senna, with her father's legacy as her guiding star, would step into her racing car and write her own chapter in the history of Formula 1.
And so, the world watched with bated breath, knowing that the story of Y/N Senna would unfold in the seasons to come. With every lap, every victory, and every challenge she faced, Y/N would make her mark, continuing the legacy of her father while creating a legacy of her own.
And through it all, Martin Brundle would be there, cheering her on, sharing in the excitement, and forever grateful for the lighthearted moments they shared during those unforgettable grid walks.

PAIRINGS: Tom 2008 x Female reader CONTENT: ANGST + FLUFF + SMUT + FLUFF SYPNOSIS: The band and Y/N decide to go to the club to celebrate their recent album launch, before leaving Y/N and Tom have a massive fight, causing a lot of tension. He has been jealous of her male friends and won't stop causing problems, y/n then catches him flirting with another girl and she is livid, she starts a fight with the girl, Tom gets pissed and on the way home they have another argument, then Tom makes it up to her with makeup sex, reassuring her and talking things out A/N: WHY DO U GUYS LOVE BEING CHEATED ON DAMN, jk ty for the req ily, sorry if this isn't as you expected I felt like it needed to have makeup sex and apologsing, etc. <33 WARNINGS: dom!tom, sub!reader, p in v (missionary), slight teasing
Me, my boyfriend Tom and the rest of his band went to a club to celebrate their recent album launch. We had a massive fight beforehand, he was getting really posessive and wanted me to stop hanging out with my guy friends, I got mad and started to yell at him, causing us to be 20 minutes late to the club.
I was walking in with Tom, his eyes already fucking darting at all the women in short skirts and tight dresses, I grunted and nudged him "look at me not them, I'm your girlfriend not a fuck toy" I let go of his hand and walked off, super pissed.
He scoffed, rolling his eyes and disappearing in the crowd. I turned to Bill, "i'm so sick of his shit, I am so close to breaking it off with him" I sighed, he frowned and put his hand on my thigh "I know, he can be stubborn huh?" I nodded and hugged Bill "i just want him to realise how I feel, it's always about him" I winced, Bill rubbed my back reassuringly "cmon, let's have fun" Bill grabbed my hand and led me to the bar, ordering some shots and cocktails to loosen ourselves up.
Later in the night I went on the dancefloor and saw Tom eyeing up this blonde bitch, twirling her hair with his fingers and tracing her curves teasingly, my breathing hitched and tears pricked my eyes. "Motherfucker.." I grunted, my chest heaving up and down.
I was filled with rage, storming over and pushing him "what the fuck?" he stumbled back, surprised at my presence "uh..i.." "shut up!" I yelled, the girl nudged me slightly "who the fuck are you?" she narrowed her eyes at me "im his girlfriend you stupid slut!", she gasped, looking offended "well, obviously he wants me more", that comment hit me deep, I screamed and punched her in the face, busting her lip and butchering her nose.
"Woah! Hey hey hey!" Tom yelled and grabbed me, preventing me from hitting her any further, dragging me away. I screamed and kicked, trying to be let free, "get the fuck off me Tom! I fucking hate you!" I cried out, he talked with the guys briefly and shoved me in the car, ignoring my cries.
"What the fuck was that? Why did you punch her?", he grabbed my wrist, I scoffed "why? Tom are you deaf or something? You couldn't even stand up for me, you are a fucking coward!" I yelled at him, pulling my hand away and getting out of the car, walking into the street. I wrapped my arms around my torso, a million emotions fluctuating through out my body.
I heard Toms heavy footsteps behind me, "wait! Come back!" he screamed after me, grabbing me by my waist and turning me around to face him, holding me close to him and forcing me to look at him. "Don't fucking walk off" he growled lowly, I rolled my eyes "fuck you Tom, let me go" I tried to pull away but his grip was too strong, "we are going home, don't fight because you know you won't win" he mumbled, shoving me back into the car and locking the doors, speeding off back home.
We argued heavily as we drove home, still arguing when getting into the house. "I'm so sick of this shit! You make me feel crazy for having valid emotions!" I screamed at him, he crossed his arms "you're so fucking dramatic, I didn't do anything with her" I sighed in frustration and held my head, trying to process what he just said.
"You are the shittiest fucking boyfriend ever, you're pathetic!" I yelled at him, throwing the necklace he gave me for our anniversary at him.
"Whatever.." he mumbled, storming into our bedroom and slamming the door, causing the floor to vibrate heavily. I grabbed my phone and called Bill, ranting to him about Tom.
"I think I have to break up with him, I am so sick of his shitty behaviour" I cried, tears streaming down my cheeks, my body trembling from all the anger.
"Y/N, just have a normal talk with him, you guys always argue" he sighed "I try to Bill trust me, but he always twists my words and makes it like it's my fault and then I get mad and yell at him" "I know..he really needs to step up his game, he is going to lose you any day now."
I cried out a little too loudly "I miss when he was a good boyfriend, I don't know what happened."
Tom stepped out of the room upon hearing this, his heart breaking slightly, realising his shitty actions towards her, "fuck.." he mumbled and walked towards her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around, Toms soft expression meeting mine, I glared and told Bill I had to go. I hung up and Tom came around, sitting beside me and rubbing my thigh softly.
"I'm sorry baby..I didn't realise how much I was affecting you" he frowned, I scoffed "oh really? the crying, multiple nights not sleeping together and constant arguments didn't give you a fucking hint?" I pushed his hand off me "don't fucking touch me, filthy fucking pig" I mumbled, moving away from him.
"Please baby..I'm really sorry" he cried out, trying to pull me closer to him, I sighed and looked back at him "no..it's too late" I got up and walked off, going into our guest room and deciding to sleep there.
I had to figure out what to do, I couldn't be in such a miserable relationship anymore. I grabbed some clothes I had in there from the other times I had to sleep in here, putting them on and slipping into bed. I heard a faint knock at the door "baby..let me in..I'm so sorry" he winced, I yelled back "fuck off! leave me alone!", he sighed and walked back to our bedroom.
I woke up to the bed dipping slightly and familiar, comforting arms wrapping around my waist. "Baby..i'll do anything to make it up to you, I can't lose you, I love you so much" he kissed my neck lovingly, I caved in and turned around, whispering in his ear "turn the lamp on" he obliged and turned it on, illuminating his face, eyes red and puffy from crying so much.
I sighed "you know I love you, but you need to change or else I have no choice..we always fight and then have rough sex which leads to nothing being solved and the arguments to keep on going, I'm sick of it" he nodded "I know..i'll change i swear.." he pushed my head into his chest softly and stroked my hair.
"How about I make it up to you..i'll be gentle baby..appreciate you" he smiled softly, I looked up and nodded, laying back on the bed. Tom slowly crawled towards me, taking my shirt off gently and kissing my lips, down to my neck, then to my chest, both of my arms and down to my stomach, appreciating every little feature I had. "So beautiful liebe.." he wasn't being rough, passionate or lustful, rather gentle and sweet. Little did he know, I loved this side of him.
He pulled my shorts down softly, kissing me as he did it, "I love you baby, i'm not gonna allow us to fight like we do again, I want to love and hold you forever" he smiled softly, tears pricked my eyes and I nodded, "oh baby..don't cry.." he frowned, wiping a tear away as it fell.
I pushed my lips into his again, softly locking our lips into a sweet embrace. He slid his hand into my panties, softly rubbing my clit. I moaned into his mouth and bucked my hips "please...don't tease.." I whined, he chuckled softly and climbed up more, taking his sweatpants off and taking out his cock.
Before he could do anything I put my hand on his chest, "please be gentle.." looking up at him, he nodded and kissed my cheek "I promise baby", with that he slowly pushed his cock into my heat, bottoming himself out.
I held onto him as he started to thrust in slowly, his tip brushing against my g spot graciously, I moaned softly, his hands brushing small hairs away from my face "so so beautiful" "mein schönes mädchen", he whispered sweet nothings into my ear, making me feel loved.
His cock slid in and out of me so perfectly, like his cock was made for my pussy. He started to pick the pace up a little, thrusting faster. I moaned and bit down onto his shoulder "fuck.." he groaned, holding my hips tightly.
I caught his lips in a kiss again, it deepened, becoming more urgent. He looked down at me, his eyes full of love and desire. I felt so connected to him, like I was melting into him.
He started to move faster, thrusting a little bit harder but not too hard, the perfect pace, his hand coming up and squeezing my breast lightly, "you're perfect..so perfect" he whispered in my ear lovingly.
"G'nna cum.." I whimpered softly, a knot forming in my stomach and trailing down to my core. "Cmon baby..cum f'me" he groaned lowly, sweat beads forming on his forehead. The sight in front of me was so hot, Tom thrusting in and out, sweaty and his toned body, it made me so wet oh my god.
I moaned loudly, my thighs shuddering as I came on his cock, his orgasm followed shortly after, shooting his thick cum into my hole, painting my insides white. He collapsed forward, catching his breath, tucking loose hairs behind my ear.
After a while he finally spoke up, "i'm sorry for treating you so badly schatz, I honestly don't even have an excuse for my behaviour, I was just stupid and a big asshole" he sighed, kissing my chin softly, I smiled softly "yeah you were a big asshole, but I'm happy you're apologising, it means a lot" I continued "I hate when we have rough sex after an argument and it solves nothing, I want to be happy again like we were at the start" he nodded and held my hips, flipping us over so that I was on top of his chest, "I know baby, I'll actually communicate with you this time I swear, I will be a better man for you" he caressed me, tracing my curves just like he did with the other girl "did you actually like the girl you were flirting with" I said quietly, still obviously upset by it.
"No way baby, I just did it to piss you off, I don't know why but I was just being an idiot and you know I'd never actually hook up with her, you are my girl forever" he looked deeply in my eyes, I trusted him, usually when he lied he'd always look away but now this man can't break eye contact.
"I love you so much Tom, please keep to your word, I don't want to lose you" I frowned, he kissed me softly and played with my hair "I'll change for you, don't worry, i'll do anything" I smiled brightly and held onto him tightly.

Cod Men Headcanons
Simon “Ghost” Riley
~sfw~ These are completely random and don’t follow any sort of cohesive theme, they’re just a bunch of opinions I have about Ghost.
- Did very well in school science fairs and looked forward to them.
- Takeout Indian food is his comfort meal. I saw someone else headcanon him as really enjoying spicy food, especially if it’s Indian food. I don’t remember who said it but it was their idea and I AGREE so I’m sharing it.
- Was one of those boys who was way smaller than his female peers until high school and hit a HUGE growth spurt one summer. He did not realize how drastic the change was. And he was confused when people didn’t recognize him.
- Helpful son. Tried his best to keep his mom safe and stress free by helping around the house as much as possible. And therefore,
- Very respectful of women. Would subtly try to put a woman at ease if he noticed she was scared or uncomfortable. Given his upbringing and what he went through when he was tortured, I feel like he has a profoundly better understanding of the mistreatment of women in general, as compared to most men.
(I imagine this plays a part when he and Soap are questioning Milena. He didn’t step in and intimidate her until he had to, even though it would have been easier to start with.)
- Demisexual. I don’t think I need to explain this one.
- Thinks he’s a dog person because he doesn’t know anything about cats and hasn’t been around them much. Is actually a cat person who also loves dogs and just doesn’t know it.
- Laughs exclusively at the dumbest shit ever but it’s CUTE. laughed at a weevil the first time he saw one because it looks just like its name. One time Riley got too excited when Ghost gave him a bit of table scrap chicken; tried to swallow it whole, gagged dramatically and cough-launched it across the room. Soap has been trying to get that kind of laugh out of Ghost ever since. Not even close.
- Secretly likes American football. I don’t know why I feel like he’d be ashamed to admit this but I do.
- I’m very torn on what kind of vehicle he would drive. I want to say he would have like, an old black 2008 pathfinder as his everyday normal car. But he’s cocky and I feel like he’d also have a very well kept NICE car as more of a toy. Something like a souped up black Audi. Either vintage (maybe a Quattro?) and in mint condition or brand new and shiny. Note: I do not know jack SHIT about cars I am using so much Google

FORD TORINO GT
Walking around a 1970/71 SportsRoof Torino at a classic car show in the States could be a confusing experience for Ozzie Ford enthusiasts. They might well be wondering, ‘Have I come all this way to look at a customised XA-XC Falcon hardtop?’ And for good reason.
When Ford Australia’s designers and engineers first sat down with blank sheets of paper in 1968 to come up with an all-new Falcon for 1972, the brief required them to make a comprehensive break from past styling. The boxy Falcon XY shape was to make way for the organic flowing look we became familiar with in the XA model and the subsequent XB and XC updates. At that time the Torino team at Dearborn was a couple of years ahead of Ford Australia in making a similar transition to a sleeker body style. No surprise then that the Ford Australia team made a conscious decision to draw on the second-generation Torino concept for some XA design elements. The decision was a no brainer. Why put in the effort and take on the costs of the pioneering stage of developing a new model when your corporate cousins have already done those hard yards?
Tumblr media
Perhaps I’m not alone in admitting that the Torino made only a smallish blip on my Ford-model radar over the years. My excuse is that from an Australian perspective at least the Torino existed largely in the shadow of its high-profile stablemate, the Mustang.
This relative anonymity is surprising when you consider the Torino’s exposure on screens large and small over the decades. While the Gran Torino model got excellent exposure in the Starsky and Hutch TV series in the 70s and 80s and the later movie, its starring role in Clint Eastwood’s perfectly named 2008 movie, Gran Torino. capped off its profile raising. After seeing that movie you had a pretty good handle on what at least one classic Torino – the 1972 Gran Torino Sport – was all about. But there’s way more to the Torino story than was revealed by its '15 minutes of (TV/movie) fame'.
Tumblr media
The Torino was launched in 1968 as an upmarket, upsized addition to the US Fairlane range. Naming it after Italy’s Motown was an interesting, but not ground-breaking move for Fomoco, with models like Capri, Montego and Granada also honouring various geographical locations. I'm not too sure, though, that a generously sized Torino would be my first choice for navigating the often narrow and crowded confines of its namesake city’s streets.
The Torino’s arrival relegated Fairlane-badged cars to entry-level status in Ford’s intermediate-category (US) line-up – a point underlined by Fairlane's sharing a number of panels with the utilitarian Ranchero pickup. Ultimately the Fairlane name was dropped from what had become the Torino model-range, bizarrely at the time when the Australian Fairlane was just hitting its straps as a desirable aspirational model with a long profitable future ahead of it for Ford Australia.
Tumblr media
The Torino covered most model-variant bases with two four-door sedans, a two-door hardtop, even a Squire wagon, as well as Torino GT versions that also included a convertible. While base-line Torinos initially offered a 200ci in-line six as standard, V8 options included the 302ci, two versions of the 390ci and some months into the 1968 model year the 428ci Cobra-Jet was added to the motor menu to give credibility to the GT version's claim to 'Muscle Car' status.
The fresh styling of the second-generation Torino of 1970/71 we opened with was widely praised by the American motoring media. New engines included the 351ci Cleveland and buyers really wanting to burn some bitumen could opt for the Torino Cobra, powered by the legendary Cobra-Jet 429, a purpose-built hi-po engine that claimed an impressive 370 horsepower. Healthy Torino sales continued to produce smiles in Ford’s executive suite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By 1972 with the 'Muscle Car' era fading to grey in the US, the GT label was dropped in favour of the blander ‘Gran Torino Sport’ label. These larger third-generation Torinos moved from the previous car’s taut ’n' terrific unitary construction, in favour of heavier body-on-frame construction. The Torino’s high-performance glory days were now fading fast.
Further evolution through to 1976, the Torino’s finale model, produced successively more laid-back Torinos – a process that for performance fans provided a grim contrast with the early Torino Cobras that had proudly flown the Ford flag in NASCAR racing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ford's Torino made a great start in 1968 by selling more than 100,000 units into a market begging for affordable ‘muscle’ cars. 1969 saw numbers dip by half but then recover. Entering the 1970s, sales were averaging above 60,000 annually. Lots of GT Torinos have been preserved or restored so there remains a deep pool into which buyers can dip to find decent cars.
Scarce variations including the 429 Cobra-Jet and Talladega occasionally top six figures in US sales but aren’t as yet totally out of reach.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The minimum specification a Torino buyer should consider while remaining credible is an M-Code with 5.8 litres and automatic transmission. These were built from 1970-72 and a few did come to Australia. Importing a decent car today will cost $45-55,000.
Seeking out a 6.4 or even 7.0-litre (390 or 428 cubic inch) GT will more seriously dent the balance. However they generally cost less than similar-looking XA-XB Falcon GT Hardtops.
Deep pockets and due diligence come to the fore when your target is an R-Code Cobra. Genuine, number-matching cars in close to showroom order (plus the cost of freighting and registering upon arrival) will top A$100,000.

VALUE RANGE:
1968-72 Ford Torino
Fair: $24,500 Good: $48,000 Excellent: $65,000 (GT390)

My bestie and I have been parsing out what Lewis' move to Ferrari means for the future of both Mercedes and Ferrari and we have come up with some thoughts.
Lewis moving to Ferrari has made it open season at Mercedes. Not only does his move signal a lack of confidence in the team, but it also splits allegiances. Employees may be on the fence about what direction Merc is moving in and may be inclined to jump ship. Other employees may just straight up be Lewis loyalists and move to Ferrari. This is a perfect opportunity for other teams to poach Merc staff.
This leads to point #2. Toto has got to take stock of who is staying and who is leaving Mercedes. Not only to prevent them taking info about the development of the car with them, but also to ensure that the team can still effectively function and produce a decent car in the following years. The last thing he wants, is to have gaping holes in his team that will shoot them back down to a back marker team.
Speaking of holes, Toto needs to lock down an experienced driver to fill that 2nd Mercedes seat ASAP. Like yesterday. So many teams are concerned that they're going to lose their drivers and are announcing early contract renewals without divulging their end dates. Even Redbull is reportedly trying to sign Alex Albon. If Toto waits too long, he's going to be caught with his pants down without an experienced driver to fill the 2nd seat and boost team morale.
If possible, Toto needs to get Lewis on actual video saying that there's no bad blood between them. As it stands, Mercedes' image has taken a major hit. The longer Lewis stays silent, the longer the rumors fester, and the more fans turn against Mercedes. Idk if what Toto claims is true, but if it is, he needs Lewis to verbally and physically confirm it.
As for Ferrari, I think signing Lewis is part of a really big rebrand for them. I think Fred Vasseur and John Elkann have decided to stop riding the wings of legacy and revamp Ferrari's image. The first part of that is looking (who knows if they actually will be) more progressive. The image that has historically accompanied Ferrari has been rich, old, white, cis, heterosexual, male. But that isn't cutting it anymore. The sport is expanding and the buying power of young women and POC is gaining larger market share. Ferrari has to adapt or die. What better way to do this than to sign on Lewis, a biracial man from humble beginnings who champions DEI and environmental initiatives and happens to have a young core audience? I mean, Ferrari stock literally skyrocketed with the announcement yesterday (and no, you will not convince me that stock gap came from Ferrari publishing their annual report). The proof is in the pudding.
The rebrand also includes their internal operations. Both Fred and John need someone who can inspire devotion and reinvigorate the team. They've been flopping since 2008 and desperately need to recenter. They need to convince new blood to join the team and signing Lewis does that. I'm guessing they're also hoping Lewis can steer development into the right direction and launch them into the stratosphere like he did with Merc.
These moves are all very calculated, and honestly, I'm impressed that Lewis and the Ferrari team kept it all under wraps. We'll see if it pans out like they hope.

How Marvel officially added McDonalds to the MCU
On the very last day of filming on the first season of the Marvel Disney+ TV series Loki, executive producer Kevin Wright sat on the steps of The Citadel at the End of Time with costar Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie), and they started to chat about what might be next for her character. Not in any official script capacity, just as fans of the story they’d just finished filming.
“This character had been on a decades-long, maybe centuries-long revenge mission, and the classic trope of those stories is that it’s all-consuming and she’s not thinking about what comes next,” says Wright. “Now she has this moment of opportunity, where is she going to go?”
Di Martino thought about it for a moment, and said, “She’d probably be pretty hungry.
There are more than 13,000 McDonald’s across the United States right here in 2023, and untold more across the multiverse. In a new campaign launched this week, the fast-feeder gave Marvel and Loki fans a peek at its own cameo in the series’ upcoming second season, set to launch on October 6.
“As Featured In” is the Golden Arches latest Famous Orders meal campaign and, instead of being tied to a particular artist or character, it celebrates all the instances in TV and movies that McDonald’s has appeared or been mentioned by characters: Friends, The Office, Seinfeld, Space Jam, Coming to America, and many, many more. But at the center of the campaign is Loki, one that hasn’t even happened yet, which is probably appropriate for a show that revolves around the multiverse and many different timelines.
The meal itself—a choice of a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, or Big Mac, with medium fries, a Loki-branded Sweet ‘N’ Sour Sauce, and a medium soda—is, like the Famous Meals before it, nothing all that special, but that has always been the point. The genius of Famous Orders is that it drives customers to McDonald’s core menu items rather than a limited-time stunt. There is, of course, also a merch collaboration, this time with streetwear darling Palace Skateboards. The packaging features QR codes that customers can scan to get fun Loki content and buy pieces from the Palace collaboration.
Long after his conversation with Di Martino on the Citadel set steps, Wright and his team were developing season two, and they were finding it difficult to pick up a new Sylvie storyline. She had just killed He Who Remains in season one, where does she go?
“When we stayed in the view of character, this woman who went on the run as a child, had been running through time, a fugitive of time, living in apocalypses, never being able to relax or slow down, the novelty of walking into a 1980s McDonald’s looked appealing,” say Wright. “You play a Little League game and go to McDonald’s. You go to a kid’s birthday party at McDonald’s. Someone like Sylvie would never have experienced that, and would be really taken by that.”
Marvel Studios has been a brand partnerships factory since Iron Man first ate a Whopper in 2008. Typically these things happen when there is a finished script, and producers go through it with the studio’s brand partnerships team to see where opportunities may be. A car chase, you say? What brand of car should we use? Maybe an Audi?
But this latest collaboration happened in reverse. A 1982 McDonald’s was specifically written into the script, so Wright approached Marvel’s partnerships people to talk to the brand about helping them out with the details. “I was worried that McDonald’s would think we wanted to do something ironic or make fun of them,” says Wright. “But we were selling an earnest story, a love letter to nostalgia through a character’s eyes who will see all of the novelty and joy of it.”
He needn’t have worried. “When I pitched it, our internal team said, ‘Uh, you realize we have a partnership with McDonald’s already, right? The fact we’re going to them wanting to do something makes it even better.”
Around that same time mid-last year, McDonald’s marketing execs were on a tour of sorts, meeting with content creators and creative teams at studios like Disney about the brand’s interest in participating in cultural moments beyond the typical product tie-in. That’s when the call from Marvel about Loki came in.
“We tend to embrace things like this,” says McDonald’s global chief marketing officer Morgan Flatley, “which we feel can be an opportunity for us to learn, especially because we felt that between Marvel and Loki, there was a real willingness to take their rabid fandom and mix it with a fan truth around McDonald’s and bring them together.”
The fan truth Flatley refers to is of McDonald’s as a congenial gathering place, a common experience for so many people. “Sylvie’s storyline perfectly aligned with how we think about our brand in terms of providing comfort and familiarity,” says Flatley. Familiarity is the key to the emotion of nostalgia and shelter that Wright was aiming for in the story.
That same familiarity is indicative of a brand so ubiquitous, it’s become a cultural touchpoint. Hence all the McDonald’s references in TV and movies. There’s a reason McDowell’s works as such a big bit in the classic comedy Coming to America. We all get it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That all sounds great, but many brands get nervous or overprotective when they aren’t in full control of the creative. Not that long ago, McDonald’s was among them. The success of Famous Orders, allowing artists and partners like Cactus Plant Flea Market to play with its brand logos and characters, and the passionate response from fans—along with the sold-out merch and boosted sales—has given Flatley and the brand more confidence than ever in what she calls “sharing the pen.”
“I’ve become a big believer that if we lean into the right kind of creators in the right cultural phenomenon, and loosen some of our control on the brand, magic will happen,” says Flatley. “A few years ago, I don’t know that we would have felt as comfortable handing over key aspects of our brand to be part of a storyline like this, but today we’re really aware of the authenticity of our brand and the role that it can play.”
Wright is very familiar with the pitfalls of ill-conceived brand partnerships, and the impact they can have. “Wayne’s World was making fun of this stuff 30 years ago,” says Wright. “When it’s done poorly, it looks like business not driven by story. I don’t think that was ever a concern for us, mainly because we knew it was being driven by our story, and the more McDonald’s partnered with us, the better we were able to service the story.”
Multiversal marketing? Let’s see McDowell’s try that.

2010 Car Launch
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
Sebastian Vettel’s first foray into Formula One saw him fined for speeding in the pitlane during the first ten seconds of his debut. It’s fair to say he hasn’t slowed down much since.
Fame and fortune hasn’t made any discernable impact on Seb (“What fortune?” he asks, bewildered). He still gives his cars girl’s names, argues that there are more exciting things in life than driving Formula One cars (but not many) and is proud of being taller than Rubens Barrichello. He loathes being referred as ‘the new Schumacher,’ and so is relieved to see his Race of Champions team-mate returning to F1.
Born 3 July 1987 in the town of Heppenheim, Germany, Sebastian enjoyed a successful career in karting before making an immediate impression the moment he came into open-wheel racing. Starting the 2003 season aged 15, he won five of 19 races in his debut Formula BMW year, finishing second in the German Championship. The next year he took the title, winning 18 of the 20 races (he finished on the podium in the other two but doesn’t like to talk about them).
It marked Vettel as one to watch and he duly tested F1 cars for Williams and BMW-Sauber, while moving up through the junior ranks, impressing in Formula 3 and the World Series by Renault. Vettel’s chance in F1 came when he replaced Robert Kubica as BMW-Sauber’s third driver in the second half of the 2006 season. In addition to incurring the Stewards’ wrath, Vettel’s debut during Friday practice for the Turkish Grand Prix also saw him finish the day top of the timesheets.
While the performance on track was impressive, everyone was equally knocked out by the confidence and effervescence with which the teenage Seb dealt with the garage and Paddock. The authority with which he spoke and the evident self-deprecating wit stood him out as much as the blistering pace.
Sebastian finally got his chance to race a year later, standing in for the injured Kubica at the United States Grand Prix. Still only 19, he qualified seventh and finished eighth, becoming the youngest man to score a Championship point. Later in the 2007 season he moved to a permanent seat at Scuderia Toro Rosso. He made a lasting impression on future team-mate Mark Webber (and the rear of his car) during the monsoon-hit Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji before bouncing back a week later to secure fourth place at an equally waterlogged Chinese Grand Prix.
Confirmed for 2008, Vettel didn’t have the best start to his first full season and crashed out of the first four races, mostly as a result of being dragged into other drivers’ accidents. Fortunately the crash-magnet curse was soon lifted and Vettel scored points at Monaco, Montreal, Hockenheim, Valencia, Spa, Singapore, Fuji and Interlagos – though the only race anyone properly remembers is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
On the back of a strong fifth place in Belgium, Vettel and Scuderia Toro Rosso went to Italy in good form. Torrential rain over the weekend failed to dampen their pace and Vettel duly became, first, the youngest driver to take pole position in Formula One history, and then the youngest race winner, having utterly dominated the race in which a rudder may have been of more use than a steering wheel.
Elevated to the senior Red Bull team for 2009, Vettel won his second, and Red Bull Racing’s first, victory at the third race of the year. He followed it with a string of podium and solid points-scoring finishes and established himself as a firm championship contender with a second, commanding victory in the British Grand Prix. He finished the season strongly with further victories in Japan and Abu Dhabi that, together with four other podium finishes, took him to second place in the Drivers’ Championship.
Definitely a follower of the ‘second is first of the losers’ philosophy, Sebastian has loftier ambitions for 2010. He lists his lifetime ambitions as winning the Formula One World Championship and beating Kimi Räikkönen at badminton.

Sebastian and the RB6
It was windy, it was cold - rain was just a matter of time. Sebastian‘s face was nearly covered by his Beanie cap, but despite the dark clouds he was in really good mood. The reason why? It was the moment when his new car was unveiled. Sebastian laughs: „Finally we are back on the track - the winter break was far too long."
Sebastian stands in front of his car and proudly he gives a short version explanation: „We were lucky to have the best of all cars during the second half of the season. That means we had a very good base right from the beginning, so we just had to develop the car. In contrast some of the opponents had to develop completely new designed cars."
The only real new part: „I got a new seat, it‘s like having a new chair. Beside that in general all the more than thousand parts of a Formula One car have been optimised. "I have a feeling I can reach my target"… So far I have not made a decision regarding the car‘s name. So ideas are welcomed.More next Friday: Today and tomorrow my team mate Mark will do the shake down and the first laps.
On Friday it will be my turn and so on Friday evening I will able to give you further information, about how the RB6´s handling qualities.

Jerez Test

JEREZ TEST – Day Three
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 59
Best time: 1.21.783
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: J. Alguersuari – 1:19.919
Sebastian Vettel drove Red Bull Racing’s 2010 championship challenger, the RB6, for the first time today, as he took over from Mark Webber on day three of the current four-day test in Jerez.
After an initial run on dry tyres, Sebastian was forced to use intermediate and extremes for the rest of the day as wet weather set in from 0945hrs. The team’s plan was to focus on aero-testing, but progress was hampered by deteriorating weather. By 1615hrs, conditions were so wet on track that Red Bull Racing, in line with the other Formula One teams testing in Jerez, decided to end the session early. Despite the weather, the car ran without any problems today.
Sebastian Vettel commented; “After three months, it was good to come back and drive the car – it felt okay and we didn’t have any big issues. Obviously the weather is not ideal for us to find out more about the car, but we knew the rain was coming so we didn’t mess around this morning and went straight out to do some laps. It then rained all day, but you could face these conditions in a grand prix, so it’s important to do laps in the wet. Overall, we didn’t do enough because of the weather, but I’m pretty happy.”
Sebastian will be driving the RB6 again tomorrow for the last day of this current preseason F1 test at the Jerez Circuit.
2010 Rider on the Storm
Sebastian Vettel | Driver – Car 5
"You can't influence the weather, we have seen that today. After a three month break, I was finally able to sit in the car today and it was good fun, I am still able to drive and the car feels good. This morning I did some (a few) laps in the dry the car went well straight away, but then it started raining and I had to park the car for some time in the garage. For sure it's a shame that it wasn't dry all day but also its possible to have rain in a race and so you have to learn to keep up with diffrent weather conditions. At the moment its still very difficult to give an idea of where everybody stands due to the new rules and the big tanks. The teams are driving with diffrent fuel levels and this also keeps changing. I hope it continues raining over night so that nothing is left for tomorrow and I can speed though all day, but as I said we have to see as we can't tell mother nature what to do..."

JEREZ TEST – Day Four
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 90
Best time: 1.21.203
Circuit length: 4.423 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1.19.583
Sebastian Vettel was at the wheel of Red Bull Racing’s RB6 today for the final day of the current Jerez test. It was his second day of testing, as Mark Webber had driven on days one and two.
The team’s plan was to focus on set-up work and aero testing, although the weather once again played a part and damp conditions in the morning meant Sebastian began the day on intermediate tyres.
Conditions dried by lunchtime, but a fuel pump failure in the afternoon cost the team around three hours of dry running time. Sebastian ended the day with a final long run on dry tyres.
At the end of the RB6’s first test, Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said: “It’s been a productive first week with the RB6, despite the weather and lack of dry conditions. We’re pleased with the car overall, it’s showing a lot of promise.” The next test will take place at the Jerez Circuit, starting on Wednesday 17 February.

Barcelona Test

Barcelona Test - Tag 2 (english version below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-01
Auto: RB6-01
Runden: 125
Bestzeit: 1.21,258 Min.
Während der Tests will man keine Schäden riskieren.
Barcelona Test - Day 2
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 125
Best time: 1.21.285
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Hülkenberg – 1:20.614
The team drove its second race simulation, and at the end of the day Sebastian had completed 125 laps.
Ian Morgen, Head of Race Engineering said; “Today we experienced about a repeat of the race simulation that Mark drove yesterday. Everything went more or less according to plan. We again stopped the car during the simulation. This was a safety measure to control a few things. It was a small problem and we could continue soon after. Sebastian could finish the race simulation in full length before end of the test day. We ran many laps and are quite happy about the car.”
Sebastian Vettel said: “This was a good day – no large problems showed up. During the course of the afternoon we had to take a break due to a small thing, but that’s pretty normal with testing drives. On test days you don’t want to risk damage. For that reason it’s best to stop the car once there’s alarms in the background. Because it rained a lot in Jerez, we have a lot of work to do in the coming few days. For example we have to find out more about the tires and do a bit of coordination work.”
Sebastian Vettel will take the wheel again tomorrow before passing it back again to Mark on Sunday, the last test day.
Barcelona Test - Tag 3 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 44
Bestzeit: 1.23,123 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: N. Rosberg (1.20,686 km)
Barcelona Test - Day 3
Driver: Sebastian Vettel
Car: RB6 – 01
Laps: 44
Best time: 1:23.123
Circuit length: 4.655 km
Fastest lap: N. Rosberg – 1:20.686
Sebastian Vettel finished his second test day in Barcelona at the last test before the start of the season. The day was affected by rain. In the morning only few laps were run due to a mix of rain showers and technical problems. The afternoon showed to be more useful because the team worked on the race setup for the first race of the season in Bahrain. Sebastian reached his best time during the last lap of the day. Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering said; “After the nightly work in view of the program planned for the day we were late due to a few technical problems in the morning. After we got to driving in the afternoon, we managed to do three, four setup tests for the race in Bahrain. Those brought us clear results. Accordingly we finished the day in much better form.“ Tomorrow, on the last test day, Sebastian and Mark Webber will be sharing the car.

Barcelona Test - Tag 4 (english below)
Sebastian Vettel | Fahrer – RB6-02
Fahrer: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Auto: RB6-02
Runden: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Bestzeit: Vettel: 1.20,667 Min.
Streckenlänge: 4,655 km
Tagesschnellster: L. Hamilton (1.20,472 Min.)
Barcelona Test - Day 4
Usually, my Tests would have concluded on Saturday, but due to the bad weather conditions I did not get to the distance I wanted. Because of that we agreed that I’d get back into the car Sunday morning. On Friday we did a race simulation where everything went more or less according to plan. Now we need to wait for the first race in Bahrain, today in two weeks, where everyone will drop their pants… We’ll have to work on our top speed until then, but all in all I’m rather happy with the car. By the way: I have a name already, but I’ll only share that one on my website the Monday before the GP…
Drivers: Sebastian Vettel/Mark Webber
Car: RB6-02
Laps: 137 (Vettel – 76; Webber – 61)
Best time: Vettel: 1:20.667
Circuit length: 4,655 km
Fastest lap: L. Hamilton – 1:20.472
After he spent less time on the track than expected, Sebastian was in the car in the morning, while Mark finished our preparations for the new season in the afternoon. Both drivers followed similar programs that the team successfully completed. The provisionally final setups for different tank fillings were found.
Ian Morgan, Head of Race Engineering, said; ”Because we lost some time yesterday, we couldn’t finish everything we set out to do with Seb. For that reason we went over more or less one and a half test days worth of work, which got us to 137 laps. That was a lot of turmoil but we managed to do a lot.
The last test went well for us. After limited testing opportunities on dry track during the tests in Jerez, the almost fully dry four days of testing here let us get back on course. During the course of the week we took great steps. These were very good test drives.”
Two weeks still separate us from the first World Championship race, the Bahrain GP.

'Saving Kylie Minogue from a bridge was not in Colum Sanson-Regan's plans when he turned up as a Doctor Who extra.
But David Tennant was not around, so someone had to do it, and producers thought Colum looked like the doctor.
"I've saved Kylie, flown the Tardis, held the screwdriver and had Billie Piper look deep into my eyes and tell me how much she loved me," joked Colum.
"I asked the producer 'Why am I putting on the doctor's suit? They replied 'Well, David Tennant isn't in'.
Now a father of two, Colum was earning some extra cash before his first child was born.
"I didn't know what was going on," recalled Colum of when he arrived on the set but was ushered past the "cold bus" where the extras usually hang around and was shown to a posh trailer.
The 10th Doctor had to leave the set for the 2007 Christmas special Voyage of the Damned, and producers needed a Tennant-alike for some extra shots showing his back.
So they improvised and Colum, then 31, stepped in to the suit synonymous with the Doctor since the world's longest running sci-fi TV show rebooted on the BBC in 2005.
Colum, now 46, had been asked by producers to be on set early but he had no inkling that his time (lord) had come.
"All of a sudden I was standing with the suit there, and I was handed a script and told 'You're gonna need this'," recalled Colum. "I was thinking pinch me, what's going on?
"Then I went for a haircut and a little Australian lady passed me dressed in a French maid outfit and said hello. I did a double take and realised I was there with Kylie Minogue."
The Australian singer and actor was a Doctor Who superfan and had asked for a part, which was humanoid waitress Astrid Peth, a one-off companion of the doctor.
"I was a bit star struck, for sure," he admitted.
His first work in Voyage of the Damned - where a starship replica of the Titanic is on collision course with Earth - was an action-packed scene where killer robot angels launched a deadly attack.
"There was a bridge, and the killer robot angels were trying to shoot, so I had to stop Kylie from falling over," recalled Colum.
"I had to hang on to her and pull her back from a precipice. That was the first thing I had to do in the morning."
The author and musician had a gig with his band that weekend in Leicester. As Kylie almost sang, he couldn't get it out of his head that he had worked with her - and we should all be so lucky.
"We got in the car and I said to my bandmates, guess who I've been working with this week?" said Colum, who lives near Cardiff.
"We'd been driving for almost two hours and had nearly hit Birmingham and they still hadn't guessed. I had to tell them! They're like 'absolutely no way'. It was so bizarre."
To Colum's pleasant surprise, producers were so happy with his work and lookalike skills, they asked him to play the Doctor again in the 2008 episode Journey's End - this time as his clone in the final episode of the fourth series.
That meant he had to be in the same scenes with Tennant, Billie Piper, John Barrowman and Catherine Tate, making her final appearance as a regular.
"I got to fly the Tardis in Journey's End," recalled Colum, who is originally from the Republic of Ireland.
"Everybody was gathered around the central console of the Tardis. We all had to have our hands on the machine and flying controls. Everybody was on that episode. There was a real buzz.
"I got to hold the screwdriver - they were very protective and kept taking it off me."
Colum was then involved in an emotional scene where Rose Tyler, played by Piper, had to say her final goodbyes to the doctor.
"It was an amazing and surreal experience.
"The nicest thing I have to take away was getting to work near David Tennant. I loved it. He was a thoroughly lovely, lovely guy and so professional. I think that was my favourite thing about the whole crazy time."
This weekend sees Tennant and Tate back together for Doctor Who, reprising their roles as the Doctor and Donna Noble in The Star Beast on BBC One on Saturday evening - but Colum will be back on his sofa with his family at home.
Husband to Kerry, singer and guitarist of band Goose, a creative writing lecturer and author of books like The Fly Guy, The Tall Owl and Other Stories, Colum has limited time for more extra work - especially after having his own trailer as the doctor's double.
"I'm looking forward to the show on Saturday with the return of some fantastic actors," added Colum.
"As a fan, working on the show was incredible and it's only strengthened my love for Doctor Who."'

Happy Birthday Scotland’s most successful Olympian, Sir Chris Hoy.
Born in Edinburgh on March 23rd 1975,the 1982 film E.T the Extra Terrestrial inspired Chris Hoy to cycle. He was then a mere six year old boy. Between the age of seven and fourteen, Chris Hoy raced for BMX and was ranked two in Britain, ninth in the World and seventh in Europe. He then received a scholarship from Kwik-Fit and Slazenger to compete in the United States and in Europe.
Chris Hoy was also into rowing and rugby as a student. The first cycling club that he ever joined was Dunedin Cycling Club in 1992. Chris then started focusing on only track cycling from the year 1994 joining the City of Edinburgh Racing Club, his main events included the Team Sprint and the one kilometre Time Trial. It was Team Sprint that brought him his very first World Championship medal. His team came second in 1999. What did you mean by twilight being “era specific” in your tags on the reblog about upcoming reboots?
I think that when Twilight came out, the book especially (which built a ground fanbase for the movie to launch from) there was less pseudointellectual web analysis, PLUS there was less care for the genuine problems with the series. In some ways, Twilight Discourse helped propel some early era "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!" puritanical bullshit.
things people weren't clocking super heavily when Twilight came out that I think are legitimate issues:
--Stephenie Meyer is a devout Mormon, and as such her politics seep into the books; the conservativism surrounding sex despite the inherent titillation of "when will they fucking fuck"; the anti-choice messaging; the racism, which lemme tell you, has some Very Specific Implications when it comes from a Mormon author. (Now I.... clocked her as soon as I saw the name "Stephenie", and had it confirmed as soon as I read she was named that for her dad, for reasons I won't get into. But a lot of people didn't.)
--Going back to the racism... It's real bad, and the movies made it worse by casting a white guy the most important indigenous role. Everyone else was played by Native actors. Not Jacob Black, the third most crucial character in the entire series. The fact that they baldly got away with that in 2008? Says a lot. Like, they weren't even trying to pass him off, they just went "well, he can tan". In fact, I think Taylor Lautner SAID he'd work up a tan for the second movie. I mean, he was already pretty tan, the just sprayed him down further. Problem solved, right?
--Nessie is dumb as hell in general, but it's also like... so anti-choice. Like. Bella is literally dying lmao. But not only is it presented as Right and Understandable that she'd want to die to birth this demonic child--the crucial thing about this is that EDWARD, MY MAN, is presented as the bad guy for really, really wanting her to abort. He is being completely logical and a loving partner here. He rightly points out that they have no fucking idea what this kid is, and also, most importantly, he loves Bella and puts her first and wants her to LIVE. Can I just say--unintentionally, the romantic hero everyone was losing their shit over in 2005-2012? Being super about his wife having a life-saving abortion? Kind of iconic. Edward is a pro-choice ally, lmao. (He even tells Jacob like "FINE WHATEVER IF SHE WANTS A BABY THAT BAD YOU CAN FUCK HER IDGAF" in what is. Objectively. A hilarious scene. I've seen Edward antis try to paint this as like, him trying to control her bodily autonomy--dude, Edward could have physically forced Bella to get an abortion. He does not, he simply wants this woman to LIVE.)
But then, as soon as the demon baby is born, he's all in love with her because he realizes she was a Soul Baby this entire time. Lol. No. In a post-Dobbs world, I don't know how you do this, and I think that if you have to entirely redo a crucial part of the series, why. bother. making it.
Never mind Jacob falling in love with a baby.
There are other problems, obviously, but you also have the SAVE THE GIRLS FROM THEIR HORNY DESIRES crowd, who thinks the entire series should be thrown in the trash because Edward is a) abusive because he doesn't want Bella to go be a frosty delight and die or b) abusive because he does want Bella to be a frosty delight and die c) abusive because he doesn't put out (a truly wild take lmao, he's sexually manipulating belly by dangling his cherry in front of her, and she somehow has zero alternatives, certainly not the other guy vying for her hand) d) abusive because he like, tries to buy her a new car and give her nice things...? e) abusive because he doesn't love the idea of his girlfriend hanging out with another guy who tries to kiss her and shit f) abusive because he DOES want her to hang out with that guy and wants her t have werepuppies to distract from the loss of their demon babies.
There is a lot of discourse around Bella, Edward, and Jacob that I find very stupid. I cannot imagine it's going to be any better in a post-Twitter post-X world.
I also think that, frankly? The youth want different things. If they want vampires, they want the Gothic melodrama (and more racially conscious updates) of a show like Interview with the Vampire. If they want teen content, they want teen content that incorporates people who aren't universally cishet and white (Quileutes aside, and as we have discussed... bad).
UNFORTUNATELY, the teens are also less horny, apparently, than they were when I was a teen. Which I think is the result of puritanical stuff/the conservative appropriation and perversion of theoretically solid progressive concepts.... among other things... and we need to make it so that teens feel comfortable with exploring things in an emotionally and physically healthy way. BUT. That's going to take time, and I don't think that the thing that really helped Twilight surmount the discourse, which is that--we Twihards were largely very horny about it--is going to work right now.
Also; if you are not a puriteen, I don't really think Twilight's particular brand of "oh my god, he might just touch my lips while I wear my khaki skirt" horniness is going to work for you, either. Like I said, it was a specific time. The kids who were really anti-sex were less the liberals who are worried about fictional characters' consent being violated when we watched movies... It was Silver Ring Thing kids, who lemme tell you, as someone who did not partake but knew several... Those kids.... wanted to throw down. Really bad.
And so Twilight appealed to that mindset that was like, pervasive in 2008--you don't abstain because you don't or shouldn't want it, you abstain because it's this thing that you will be able to have as soon as it is Right to have it. Like the Jonas Brothers! They did that, right? They really committed to the purity rings, riiiiiiiiiight?
The knowledge that you're waiting for this thing that you have a semi-specific timestamp on (your wedding night) and it's going to be sooo worth the wait (it will not, at least not for a while lol) was this deeply titillating thing for much of the target audience, because that's what Twilight was almost literally evoking. Edward wouldn't have sex with Bella until their wedding night, but he TEASED her. The entire series was arguably abut this leadup to the sex. And boy, was it disappointing! But until it happened, I think the series really captured that breathless anticipation. And I just don't think people are currently very interested in that.
They might as well have been soaking
Also. Bella's dad is a cop.

can u give a summary of what happened for ur non-dw followers. im a curious guy
i would love to but this one does require some prior knowledge stuff that aired in like 2008 lol
after regenerating back into david tennant (tenth doctor), the fourteenth doctor arrives in london and spots someone carrying way too many boxes. he rushes over to help, only to remove the first few boxes from the stack and see that it's donna, whose memory he wiped 15 years ago to save her life and who cannot ever remember him or their old adventures together, because she absorbed regeneration energy and gained the vast transdimensional knowledge of a time lord, which is too much for a human mind to handle.
donna is now married and has a daughter named rose. the doctor is very confused by the revelation that her daughter is named rose, and that he looks like his past self again, and then a spaceship crashes over london, cutting that line of thought off.
the doctor runs off to where the spaceship crashed in a steel foundry. the international military organization that handles aliens, UNIT, is already there. there are no life signs inside the craft, but a group of soldiers opens it up and becomes possessed by an energy that is released.
meanwhile, donna has returned home with her family, shouting at some transphobes who are harassing her daughter along the way, deadnaming her. donna threatens to tell their parents. back in the house: donna's family knows that she cannot ever remember anything about aliens, but luckily she missed the whole spaceship crashing thing, because she always misses everything. rose goes outside and a neighbor kid tells her that they found an escape pod with an alien inside nearby. she runs over to see, only to find that it's empty. she returns to the alley by her house and finds the very disarmingly cute star wars looking alien behind some garbage bags. she takes the alien, the meep, back to her shed where she works on crafts, and tries to hide it there. donna walks in and discovers it.
chaos ensues, made worse by the doctor knocking at the door. the meep has told rose that it is running from an evil group that wants to kill it. everyone catches up a bit (the doctor is slapped) and tries to hide the doctor's identity from donna, but there's another alien right there in the house as well so it's a bit of a mess. soldiers knock at the door, and the doctor goes to answer, only to find it's the ones who were possessed and are now attacking the house. two other aliens appear, firing back. the doctor creates an energy shield and helps the family escape from the gunfight into the attic, where they plan to escape to rose's dad's car by passing through several other houses' attics. they do that.
they escape in the car until the doctor pulls over, produces a judge's wig from his pocket, and questions both sides of the alien conflict about what's going on. it is revealed that the aliens who were "attacking" the meep are actually using stun guns, and are trying to capture the meep because it's actually an evil overlord. with the jig up, the meep reveals its true intentions. the doctor and co are captured by the possessed UNIT soldiers, and the doctor is knocked unconscious just for good measure.
the group is taken back to the steel foundry where the spaceship "crashed". the ship uses an engine that destroys the land beneath it to launch; if the ship takes off, all of london will be destroyed. the current UNIT scientific advisor shows up and reveals that she can shoot tranquilizer darts and also rockets from her wheelchair, helping the group escape. the doctor runs to stop the ship from launching, and tells the others to escape. donna breaks off and follows him into the ship. he needs to stop the ignition process, but a glass barrier comes down, preventing him from reaching the other side of the controls, with donna on the other side. he realizes that the only way to save the 9 million people who are going to die if this ship takes off is to restore donna's memories; with those memories and that knowledge, she will gain the technical knowledge necessary to work with the doctor to stop the launch, but she will die shortly after.
the doctor tells donna that there's only one option left, but he can't do it because it'll kill her. she says i have a daughter down there, do it. he does it, restoring donna's memories, time lord knowledge, and the time lord energy that will kill her shortly. she helps him disable the ship and raise the barrier, knowing she has only 55 seconds to live, then passes out, seemingly dying in the doctor's arms.
she then wakes up.
by having a child, donna had passed the metacrisis energy partially into her daughter, diluting it enough that neither will be killed. rose gains the same time lord knowledge and energy that donna gained, awakening as having part of the doctor's consciousness living in her. rose helps stop the alien from back outside the ship, and it is revealed that she is nonbinary, and that she is nonbinary because the doctor, an alien who can be male or female, is also nonbinary. being nonbinary saves the world, and her mother's life.
the two then simply release the excess energy, something the doctor didn't even think of as being possible. it's also implied that rose gets a gender affirming regeneration????
with the day saved, the group returns to the TARDIS and the doctor asks donna to come with him for a trip. after a bit of arguing with donna's mom, she agrees and enters the newly redesigned TARDIS. the doctor runs around like a child on a sugar rush a bit, and makes donna a coffee using the new coffee machine on the console. they take off, and then donna spills her coffee on the console, causing the TARDIS to go out of control. episode ends.
tl;dr being trans and nonbinary grants you special powers, and also saves the world

Back around 2008-ish, a friend of mine on an astronomy forum mentioned that there had then-recently been either a TV pilot or just an unfilmed script for a show about fictional NASA scientists working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory called “Beyond” that hadn’t been picked up. I’ve looked for more information ever since but never found anything. Can you help me, O Lost Media Guru?
I found an IMDB page for it but no video sadly, and only 23 ratings so I'm assuming it never came out. It's listed as a TV movie, so I guess a pilot that was never picked up? It looks like it was meant to air on Fox but I can't find anything saying it did.
"Newly appointed director of the JPL Laboratories, irascible but brilliant DR. MORRIS FITCH starts his new job off with a bang as he brainstorms a radical plan to deflect a pathogen-infected meteor currently on a collision path with the Earth…"
The writer, David Self, also wrote Road to Perdition and Thirteen Days, plus two horror movies, but this is his only TV credit. Apparently after Beyond was picked up, he was hired by Marvel (then starting to launch the MCU) to write the Captain America movie, along with ones for Deathlok and Namor, but his script was never used
Unfortunate that I couldn't find video or more information, but there's everything I could find. Other results were mainly references to the pilot being picked up, or list of credits while mentioning the writer. A Youtube search mainly pulls up unrelated shows (and car reviews?), sadly
