One of my least favourite and eye-rolling arguments is, "OHOo, wHaT if the RoLeS WeRe ReVerSed?" As if men don't get away with things even if the roles were reversed. Yes, Da-hye did Soo-cheol dirty, there's no denying that, and yes, he still loves her and welcomed her back into his life as if nothing had happened. Am I okay with it? I am. In fact, I think it's very cute.
Okay, so now, if the roles were reversed, would I be fine with that? Absolutely fucking not! So why would I be okay with Soo-cheol welcoming Da-hye back to his life? CAUSE IT IS FICTION!!!
We all know what would have happened if such a situation had played out in real life. Da-hye and her child's lives would have been in serious danger; she would most likely have been assaulted or killed. Soo-cheol is rich, and wealthy families are not going to sit idly by after you fuck them over. Women like Da-hye would definitely never have gotten away with what she did, if it had happened in real life. And men like Soo-cheol do not exist in the real world. Men's egos are fragile, and he would absolutely not have let her get away with it.
This is exactly why I am fine with this in fiction. Like, let women get away with things, at least in fiction, because it rarely ever happens in the real world. Men are not as forgiving as women are. And if a man were to commit something like this in the real world, everybody would be like, "Ugh, typical of men," and then just move on. Because genuinely, we are so done with men doing this stuff that it doesn't surprise us anymore. So, like, just let women get away with crimes and stuff, at least in fiction. Let them just be.
In fact, the very reason K-dramas are popular among women is because these men are incredibly warm, which is rare in real life. The things these oppas do for their women are so rare that we all yearn for them. Korean men themselves say that they are absolutely nothing like these K-drama oppas. Like, can you imagine a guy like Baek Hyun-woo in real life staying in his in-laws' house even after he's seldom respected there, just for his wife's sake? But you know what, you will see plenty of women putting up with nonsense and abuse in REAL LIFE, just for their families.
In my opinion, they have pretty much "punished" Da-hye's character by making her child's father an abuser. It's more like, "See, you gave up a nice man, so now you're stuck with this abuser. You deserve it."

A Sip of Poison - By Chyomchyom (7.5/10)
Tumblr media
The quality drops hard in the second half, but the beginning is entertaining and tense. A beautiful slave and a prince, sixth in line, far away from the throne. How are they connected? Why does he choose her?
Baek-ha is gorgeous. A gorgeous slave. She lives in a snowy, gloomy village. She's already twenty one, but her master refuses to sell her. Master Woo also doesn't want her as a mistress. He looks at her like...well not in a sexual way that's for sure.
Tumblr media
One day Master Woo presents her to a man. Nan-woo. She doesn't know anything yet, but he is a prince. Baek-ha is actually related to the current, corrupt Empress. Master Woo is her uncle. The power-mad Empress is her aunt. That power-mad aunt burned her mother alive. She was supposed to die that day. Woo saved her, but its all up to the Prince. The true heir. The one with new blood, who can take down the Empress and her family.
Woo is ready to let the prince kill him, and his secret niece. He feels guilty, because the sister he supported became a demon that is ruining the country.
Tumblr media
The story is told from Baek-ha's perspective. We don't know that. He treats her like a mere slave for a bit. He seems to like her. He's fascinated by her looks, and he's scary.
He seems half-mad.
He is struggling.
He was supposed to kill Woo, and her, and the Empress.
Woo offers up his loyalty, and his niece as a bride. He chose wrong when he supported his sister. Nan-woo is superior.
Nan-woo accepts that secret bride offer.
Baek-ha still believes she is a slave. None of the other characters know about her royal blood either.
Tumblr media
He shows her affection.
The tension is great.
Baek-ha does not trust him. She behaves like a slave until he completely proves his love for her. Their relationship feels very realistic at first.
That's all ruined by the secret royalty thing though.
Tumblr media
Nan-woo is injured.
The Empress thinks he died.
He hides, and he flirts with Baek-ha, until the snow melts.
He also kills the doctor that attempts to make her his mistress.
Tumblr media
He also tells her to NOT save her drowning friend. He won't risk her safety. He sends his men to save her friend, and then he scolds her because she dirtied her skirt.
He buys her new silk dresses to wear, and this is a big deal.
The other characters start to believe Nan-woo wants a mistress.
Something happens, and Nan-woo burns most of the household to the ground.
Tumblr media
The steward sends in his daughter, instead of Baek-ha. That woman is a well-educated, flirty beauty.
Nan-woo stands up. He takes out his sword, and he tells the girl he wants her father's name. She gives it to him. Nan-woo strings the House Steward from a tree by his feet. He is tortured and left bleeding profusely from the head, while his daughter watches. Then he burns down the house.
Woo returns Baek-ha to him.
This tantrum is good news.
Woo gets the chance to serve a true ruler, and redeem himself.
Nan-woo gets a bride he is obsessed with.
It's the perfect plan.
Tumblr media
Nan-woo brings her to the palace. We meet the "rival" character. He has two scenes before he dies. The Empress is weak. Her son is weak. Nan-woo is strong, and he has taken a bride.
A quick, brutal bloodbath rushes through the finale of the story.
Tumblr media
Nan-woo becomes Emperor. He keeps smart people by his side, like his servant Yoo n....and Woo, who adopted the current Empress.
Baek-ha.
She could have had a personality. Character development, but the royal plot twist ruined it. It became very predictable.
Tumblr media
Also Baek-ha helped him when he was a child, so he's been obsessed for a long time. That's nice for a yandere story, but not for a historical drama. By the end there's no tension.

BAAAAAAAABES OMG!!!! EPISODE 10 IS GIVINGGGGG!!!
It's giving cuteness, it's giving love, it's giving ✨QUEEN✨ it's giving fucking satisfaction my loves!
📍Let's start off with some really funny scenes brought to you by Hong Mama, it's so freaking satisfying to see her get humbled over and over and over again! Her getting off of her high horse has been long overdue tbh, that scene when she finally got her salary after work, only for Baek Mama to deduct it for the coffee she paid for (her), God her face was priceless. Everyone say it with me, "DESERVE!" Perhaps Mama Baek can teach her a thing or two about mothering. It's about time she learns that too.
📍Papa Hong and Papa Baek having a heart-to-heart conversation over their frustrations at losing something, and almost everyone seems to turn their backs on them. Them bonding over Kdrama while having a drinking session at the same time is probably one of the most wholesome scenes in the show.
📍Mama Baek being such a loving mama to Hae-in 😭😭 even though it's clear that she loves her son, she didn't tolerate Hyun-woo's bullshit when the latter confessed about Hae-in's illness and the divorce. I hope all parents will take note of this: you don't tolerate your kids' wrongdoings, you make them own up to their mistakes and guide them in doing the right thing. That's why Hyun-woo knows how to take accountability, his mother taught him well.
📍Soo-cheol is actually growing on me. He's an immature idiot at first, but he really has a big heart. He's the one who got fooled and dumped on yet he still worries over baby Geon-u and Da-hye. Yes he was hurt, but he loves Da-hye so much that he can't even bring himself to be angry at her. He sees the goodness in her and points at the right person who caused their family to crumble. I can't wait for him to man up and fight to bring his family back.
📍Oh my beautiful BaekHong, the "divorced" couple who acts like they're still married. Hae-in acting like a typical wife who scolds her husband for getting into trouble, but still takes care of him anyway and Hyun-woo the boxing champion trembling at his angry wife 🤣.
📍I also love the fact that they finally have that much needed talk about their marriage, what went wrong, what they could have done, and Hyun-woo having no regrets at marrying Hae-in and would gladly choose her again and again. Dear Lord, where can I get myself a Baek Hyun-woo?
📍But damn Hae-in exposing Eun-seong during the press conference was the BEST!!! Dude was so sure he was gonna marry her but Hae-in isn't the queen of Queens for NOTHING. He really did underestimate her, I kid you not when I say that I literally flipped my middle finger when the camera focused on Eun-seong *clears throat* with all due respect to Park Sung-hoon, you are a great actor sir but I loathe your character. Yoon Eun-seong is the very definition of "delulu is the solulu" again, Hae-in would rather die than be with him, and since this episode is so satisfying, I'm gonna save my rant for the next episode.
📍I have always loved the dynamics of Hyun-woo and Hae-in, they may be different in a lot of things but they complement each other in so many ways. For example, when someone is trying to fuck up the other, or when one of them is in danger, there will be hell. Hyun-woo is very protective of Hae-in, he'll fight tooth and nail for her even if it means getting hurt in the process. This man will fight for her to the death. Hae-in on the other hand is the type of person who would rather take all the pain to herself than seeing her loved ones suffer. She will never stand back when it comes to Hyun-woo, and when someone tries to fuck him up, she'll go above and beyond to save him, and she'll give you hell if you mess with her husband. Since the beginning they have always fought for each other, but in the next coming episodes I hope they'll learn to fight together because seriously, they are such a power couple.
📍Hae-in still calls Hyun-woo her husband 🥹🥹
📍Shout out to Grace for not being too stupid, you have chosen the right team to help ma'am. And Da-hye...girl, come back already.

uneasiness is the word for Queen of Tears. This show makes me uneasy. I felt it in the first episodes where a group of men lament having to cook for the Hong's family memorial service (cooking! horror!), I felt it when Soo-cheol opened his big mouth to call Africa barbaric, and I'm still feeling it 6 eps in while Hae-in cavorts around Germany with her lousy husband.
I haven't dropped the show yet because I find it entertaining, and I have no self-discipline. What I like: Kim Ji-won as Hong Hae-in. The ensemble cast is big and probably expensive, but the money is paying off. They're all individually strong performers, and they work off each other expertly. I like the Hong family, and I like their soon-to-be usurpers. I like how the camera moves - I like how funny the writing can be. I love the soundtrack. Hae-in's fake illness is one of the more compelling fake illnesses in k-dramas. I think everything around her character is sharply drawn, and most of that lies in Kim Ji-won's performance, who knows exactly how to ride that fine line of irony and earnestness. She knows Hae-in is out of touch and vain, and plays those moment with subtle self-riducule, but she also acknowledges that Hae-in is trying, if not necessarily successfully, to be a better person.
Her husband though - lol. Baek Hyun-woo starts out as someone with a degree of responsibility and morality that his in-laws severely lack. Much of the first episodes is playing up his alienation as a decent, modest middle-class lawyer who marries Hae-in, a woman from a vastly rich family, and learns quickly that the companionship and support he thought he'd receive from her isn't there. He decides to get a divorce after he finds out that his wife didn't put him in her will - the last straw, and ultimate proof that she no longer loves him. Fair enough, thought I. Then he finds out his wife is dying. His reaction: stash away the divorce papers and lover her up so bad she'll fall for him again and put him in her will. Okay...interesting! thought I. It was a refreshing turn in his character, having our nice lead be as self-interested and petty as the in-laws he looked down on. And at that point, the writing was vaguely, vaguely aware that he was a prick for it. But it also gave him an out - see, it wasn't really Hyun-woo's idea, but his friend's, whispering in his ear like Lady Macbeth to topple the faithful King Duncan, so y'know, this conniving isn't really Soo-hyun's nature. He's definitely not that kind of guy.
The funny thing is that Hyun-woo's selfishness is the only believable thing about him. Early on, it's hammered in that working for this family is eating up at his sense of justice, but there's no underlying reason or conviction as to why or where he has this sense of justic from. I can believe more that he is a deeply materialistic man, who says the "moral" thing, but ultimatley still cares about status and money and reputation. After all, the moral compromises he regretted making for his in-laws no longer mattered when he was busy chasing Hae-in's bag lol. And like his ethics, his love for Hae-in feels similarly hollow - when he starts to see her through sun-lit filters and flares with ballads in the back, it all reads like artifice attempting to simulate a sincere falling-back-in-love, and I don't buy it. I don't believe that he's a good man, and I don't believe that he loves Hae-in. I cannot believe that people were harassing Kim Sae-ron, a real woman with a real connection to Kim Soo-hyun, over this pairing. Stand up.
In fact, this show is a lot like Hyun-woo - hollow, saying the "right" things re: wealth, but meaning nothing. The villains are grasping class upstarts. The chaebol family are so dysfunctional and bumbling that they become like children, pitiable and endearing. There's a show in here that's brilliant, and I keep seeing flashes of it because I've seen it in other brilliant shows. An upwardly mobile lawyer marries into a conglomerate, and their corruption chews him up and spits him out - Stranger. A chaebol family whose stupidity and pettiness is genuinely disturbing and suffocating - Secret Love Affair. And if you want to ogle and jeer at rich people, then Mine is as indulgent, as excessive, as voyeuristic (bordering on exploitative) as QOT while still having a moral spine. Of course, those shows had very different writers, different aims and tonal registers to Queen of Tears, which is first and foremost a brassy, sweeping crowdpleaser. But QOT wants us to take it seriously - it wants us to at least believe in the romance that it's selling. And well...I don't know if I can manage that. Personally, I'd have cut Hyun-woo out all together, make Eun-sung/Hae-in and Soo-cheol/Da-hye the main pairings (while keeping Eun-sung and Da-hye as two-faced as they already are), and have the messiness of the plot spill out from that.
I think this is all a sign to watch My Liberation Notes again.

Marry My Husband (2024)
Tumblr media
This show is not perfect, and it is certainly not Perfect Marriage Revenge, but it does have its charms.
What Worked
Like that other show about a time traveling wife who was betrayed by her family and goes back in time to get her revenge, this show was good because of its villains. Song Ha-yoon who plays the evil best friend Jung Soo-min was the most fun to watch of the baddies. She was believably bad while pretending to be nice, and watching her spiral out of control over the course of the series was a treat.
The show also made the most of its side characters, giving them interesting plots and bringing in a solid cast. I especially loved watching young actor Choi Gyu-ri bring this delightful manic energy to Yoo Hui-yeon (the younger sister / bestie). I could have used more scenes with her, and hopefully she'll break into a lead role in a future series.
What DIdn't Work
Though it had a solid final two episodes, the show sagged a bit in the last third. They brought in an evil-ex fiance character that just wasn't interesting to watch.
Also, there were a few moments where the show went from "Over the Top" to "Completely Unbelievable". Like the end of episode 13 (aka the "slowest truck of doom ever") and the end of episode 14 (aka "WTF Ji-won, don't just stand there, Kick him in the nuts, FFS!").
The Performances
Park Min-Young as ("Time Traveling Wife") Kang Ji-won. I've been kind of disappointed in PMY's choices lately, so it was nice to see her in a somewhat better role. There were moments when I felt pathos, or enjoyed the romance, but not that many. Mostly, it was the moments in the show where she got to be angry—and even a little ruthless—that I remember. Which is part of the appeal for any good revenge show.
Na In-woo as ("Future CEO") Yoo Ji-hyuk. I think he was a little wooden in this, but alot of that was the writing. The show was really focused on the FL and on her relationships, and it didn't have much space for him. I didn't really mind that, but it did make those few moments where he got to cut loose a little (like the ice cream scene) more memorable.
Lee Yi-kyung as ("The terrible ex-") Park Min-hwan. This guy was great at playing a mediocre man completely out of his depth. He was like one of those clown punching bags that just pop right up after you hit them. And it was fun watching him get beaten down and come right back up for more.
Song Ha-yoon as ("The evil bestie") Jung Soo-min. I liked watching her slowly get more evil and more crazy as the show went on. The actor did a great job making her contemptible, while pretending to be kind and thoughtful.
Lee Ji-kwang as ("The chef") Baek Eun-ho. Probably the most sympathetic character in the show. He just wants to run his restaurant and feed all his friends and get a cute girlfriend and all of these crazy people keep coming in and messing with things. Would have liked to see more of him, and his loveline, but what we got was nice.
Choi Gyu-ri as ("The Best Sister in the World") Yoo Hui-yeon. This actor had golden retriever energy and it was so much fun watching her in the middle of this craziness. I want to see an entire show with her just running around living her best life. We needed more of Hui-yeon and chef's story than we got, for sure.
Gong Min-jeung as ("Sad boss") Assistant Manager Yang. I've seen this actor a few times and I always enjoy her, though they rarely give her a good loveline. She got a pretty decent one here, despite all the other crazy stuff that happened, so that was nice. Again, could have used a few more scenes with her and Lee Seok-joon.
Ha Do-kwon as ("The Salaryman") Lawyer Lee Seok-joon. He did a good job bringing some gravity to this crazy show. Was able to be funny too (in a Butler Jeeves kind of way). Not enough time spent on him and Manager Yang's story, but what we got was good.
BoA as ("The Evil Ex-") Oh Yu-ra. This character felt more like a plot device than anything. There were a few moments where she could have felt menacing or crazy, but I don't think the actor was quite up to it. They needed to cast a real Mean Girl, but they didn't have enough story for that kind of character.
Ha Do-kwon as ("Bad Manager") Lee Seok-joon. They brought in a really good character actor and this guy made the most of the part. He felt like someone I could have met in real life, and I despised him. Which means the actor did a great job.
Everyone Else. The high school bully girls were fun to watch. Yang's husband did an okay job being despicable. The judo teammates were funny. Even the grandfather had a couple of good moments. Show did a good job taking care of its minor characters.
TL; DR:
If you liked Perfect Marriage Revenge, you'll probably like this too (and vice-versa). It's different enough that you don't feel like you're watching the same show twice. It's also not quite as good as that other show, which means people likely judged it a little harder than they otherwise might have done.

Chapter Five- Royal Residences Part One
warnings: mentions of weight, AFAB character, mentions of female body parts, references to the weight of M/C, loosely based on my own research of the ancient Korean royalty system, bullying, loneliness, anxiety, money problems, mentions of how other people view characters body
message me if you feel I need more warnings
3.4k words
You made your way to the front, the sound of your name, leaving nearly everyone shocked but your best friend, who had the biggest grin on her beautiful face. No one had expected you to get through, not even yourself. A blush blankets your face as you make your way to the line at the front. A moment passes as everyone waits for the ladies who did not get through to leave the smaller courtyard.
"Congratulations ladies" you hear Hoseok speak, breaking the silence, whilst looking over each and every one of you. You don't know if you were just imagining it, but the tall and handsome man had sent an almost imperceptible smile your way, making your eyes go wide. "Now, myself and Jungkook will tell you your residences, and we will also assign you 2 maids and a manservant for you to use at your convenience"
"Let's start with the furthest away from this little courtyard shall we?" Jungkook questioned, though the question was rhetorical.
"Bae Suzy, You are in the Sapphire Apartment. Along with the manservants, you brought along with you, you are also being assigned Shin Won-ho as your manservant and Kim Tae-Yeon and Chou Tzu-yu as your maids. Please proceed to your apartment"
"Next we have the Chariote Apartment, the person who will be staying there is Han Sun-Hwa. You are being assigned Lee Jong-Hyun, Jeon So-Yeon and Kwon Yu-Ri. Please proceed."
The process carried on.
"Ruby Apartment is for Hwang Yeji, You are assigned Kang Dong-Ho, Ahn Sol-Bin and An Yu-Jin. Please proceed.
"Opal Apartment. Kim Seol-Hyun. Woo Ji-Ho, Son Chae-Young, Cho Seung-Hee"
"Carnelian Apartment. Kwon Eun-Bi. Yoo Ki-Hyun, Lee Hae-in and Lee Young-Yoo"
"Amber Apartment. Choi Mi-Young. Doh Kyung-Soo, Bae Woo-He, Baek A-Yeon"
"Azurite Apartment. Kim Si-Jeong. Lee Byung-Hun, Go Woo-Ri and Park Hye-Won"
At this point, everyone had left apart from you. "Miss Seo, as you were an unexpected candidate, your apartment is still getting ready and the maids needed a few more moments, so we were trying to prolong this for as long as possible. You have been assigned Moon Jong-Up, Ahn Hye-Jin who goes by Maria or Hwa-Sa and Jun Hyo-Seong. I hope that they treat you well. To prolong this even longer as we have not received the signal that they are ready, we are going to give you a tour, are you okay with that?" The pair asked.
"Perfectly." You responded. "It would be my honour" You carried on with a smile. "Please, Lead the way". The two young men smiled at you, before moving down the stairs towards you. Suddenly, you felt incredibly nervous, these incredibly attractive young men were looking directly at you, with no signs of distate anywhere on their faces or bodies. The men took a space on either side on your, Hoseok moving his arms to point the way out of the courtyard. "Do you have a flower that you appreciate the most?" Jungkook asked "Good question Kookie" Hoseok said, the nickname making your eyes widen again, almost not expecting the men to be so close that they were using nicknames. "We might have your favourite here in one of the gardens"
"Cherry blossoms, Chief State Councillor and High Councillor. My most appreciated flower of all is Cherry Blossom." The two men share a look between each other. "That is our Gracious King's favourite, so much that he has a garden dedicated to it, coincidentally, the garden is right next to your apartment" A small gasp left your lips, the excitement evident not just on your face but on your whole body as you turned to both of them, your hands clasping together joyfully. "Really!?! Can we go there?" You asked hopefully. Both men smiled at your excited state before telling you that you could, and led the way, right to the entrance of the garden. There was a small bridge to cross before you would actually be in the park, and you ran quickly across it, accidentally forgetting about the two men behind you. You span round quickly, a giant smile on your face, trying to look everywhere at everything.
"I take it that you like the garden," a voice behind you, which you quickly identified as Hoseok, spoke. "Almost more than anything in the world," You said without thinking. Both men let out a laugh, which made you look at them with a questioning gaze. "You have almost the same reaction as the Good King". This very sentence made you stop in your spot, your face dropping, looking almost horrified to be compared to the King. "Omo, I am not worthy of being compared to our gracious King" You spoke, anxiously wringing your hands together. "My apologies Lady Seo, we didn't mean to make you anxious," Jungkook said. You noticed a young woman run up to the two men and yourself. She spoke quietly to the men, before bowing and turning away. The two men turned to you, smiling slightly "Your apartment is ready Lady Seo, let us lead you there" Hoseok said. Nodding, you spoke gently "Please do lead the way". You bow gently, allowing the men to turn around and lead the way out of the garden that you had fallen in love with, and almost didn't want to leave.
It took barely two minutes before you arrived in front of the apartment. "This is the Emerald apartment. Next to you, there is the Queen Dowager's Garden, you are not allowed to enter that space without her explicit permission" Jungkook stated sternly. "And on your other side is Lady Hwang" Hoseok finished. This made you smile, your apartments here, being closer to each other than the houses in your town were. "Lady Hwang Yeji is my best friend," You spoke gently, a small but warm smile on your face at the mention of your best friend. "We have known each other since we were born, my eomma likes to say that I have two sets of parents, both our parents raised both of us..." you paused, your smile turning into a frown "well my eomma and Yeji's parents, my appa..." you spoke again, your frown becoming bigger. "You don't need to tell us, Lady Seo" Hoseok said calmly, laying a gentle hand on your shoulder. You look up, and into the handsome man's eyes, your eyes slightly blurry with tears, making something flash in Hoseok's eyes. "I feel like I almost need to" you spoke "My appa, he used to be a good man, until he fell from grace, he lost a lot of his respect, and therefore money, and the money he did keep, he used to drink. He would blame me for his drinking, he would tell me it was my fault, that he wished it was I who died and not my sister. Before I left, he attacked me for the first time, he dragged me by my hair to the floor and yelled at me. My eomma, she's a wonderful woman, she grabbed him by the ear and dragged him out of the house once she realised he was in my room and harming me. Appa had a bruise on his ear still, when I left for the procession. My bruises still remain intact too, but when I remember what my eomma did, the fire in her eyes, I feel proud to be her descendant" You finally finished your story.
You could see anger clearly on both men's faces. "I know I need not worry about my eomma whilst I'm here, she is as fierce as the summer in the sky in the summer sky." The warm smile lay on your lips, remembering your eomma. "She sounds like a wonderful woman" Jungkook spoke, a smile that could be perceived as genuine if there were someone looking on from the outside in.
"Anyway's my Chief Councillor and High Councillor, I must leave your warm presence and settle myself into my apartments. I hope to see you soon Your Honours. May the sun warm your cheeks, and the food fills your bellies" You speak eloquently, bowing low before the two handsome men, before turning and leaving their presence to enter your apartments.
The apartment that you entered was spacious and homely. In the room stood your friends Chan and Changbin with large grins on their faces, along with your assigned manservant and maids.
"My Lady, Your room is this way, would you like me to help you redress" Hyo-Seong spoke, her hand pointing to an area separate from the room you all stood in. The room was separated from the room you were in by a wall of sliding doors. The entire apartment was decorated in green and brown, the sliding doors were made of oak, and the cloth was painted with the seal of the kingdom in the colours your apartment was named after. It was a beautiful sight to behold, and you knew that if you had any spare time, you would ask your maids to retrieve any painting items they could get a hold of so that you could show this image to your eomma when you got home again. You knew that she would take great delight in your painting, and knowing how an apartment within the royal castle looked and would love the painting even more so, knowing it came from her daughter.
"That would be lovely Miss Jun" you spoke to the woman. She nodded her head as a slight bow, walking to the room you now identified as your bedroom. In the room, there was a large box placed near the window, on top of it was a new hanbok ready for you to wear. "Would you like a bath Lady Seo?" Hyo-Seong asked. You shook your head, a feeling of exhaustion coming over you in a quick wave. "Do you think it would be possible to sleep for a short period Miss Jun?" You asked hopefully. "Unfortunately not, My Lady, there is much to do. As you have reached the second stage, you must prepare for a meeting with Queen Dowager. You will soon also be accepting gifts from the royal family, of which I am unsure, but you must prepare to receive them. We must also start preparing you for your interview, and the luncheon that is happening tomorrow. There is also a Royal Banquet that we must prepare you for. I assume you have attended a banquet before, but a royal banquet is much more different to the ones of the high class" The maid in front of you explained your schedule for the coming potential one to two weeks that you would be residing in a royal apartment.
"Very well, then we must begin," You say a small polite smile on your face. "What's first?" you ask. "First My Lady, we must dress you," she says, returning your attention back to the box that had caught your attention when you first walked into the room. You didn't recognise the hanbok, remembering all the ones that you owned. "I apologise, but this is not my hanbok," you tell your maid "No My Lady, the Queen Dowager sent this. It's the first gift from the royal family." Excitement fills your body, knowing that this was something that the Queen Dowager herself had someone make and be sent. "But only 6-7 were predicted, and I'm not the average size", you questioned slightly, the anxiety that you had felt earlier in the day returning in full force. "The Queen Dowager had this one sent specifically, it was a hanbok she had in her storage, she wore it when she was pregnant with the King. She sent a letter along with it" you were told before being handed the letter
Dear Lady Seo,
The Royal Family apologises for not having anything prepared for you. I did not have a gift prepared for you, however, your crest is a crest that has a long line, and the crest on your hanbok is a phoenix. This was my family crest before I married King Sejong, the King's late father. It was a hanbok I wore when I was pregnant with the King. I hope that it does you well, as it is now yours. Please meet me in my gardens at 3.
Sincerely,
Her Royal Highness, The Queen Dowager Kim Eun-Ji
"What time is it?" You ask loudly, waiting for anyone in the household to respond. "2:30" you hear someone yell, unsure of who it was due to the closed doors between you. You feel your face pale. Turning to your maid you speak again "We must hurry, please call Miss Ahn in, time is not on our side". The maid nods, before running the door and calling in the other woman.
Within 20 minutes, your hair had been brushed and moved into a restyled updo, behind held back with a purple dwikkoji, your under clothes being changed for cleaner ones, and then the gifted hanbok was placed onto your body. It fit almost like a glove like it was made for you. The jeogori was a gorgeous dark purple colour, decorated with golden detailing featuring a phoenix, the goreum was also in an off-gold colour. The chima was a black colour with the same golden detail. Your beoseons were black as well as your shoes which were decorated in the same gold detailing. With a few minutes to spare, your maids applied some basic makeup consisting of plant ash to apply a dark brown colour to your eyebrows, safflower was used to apply a light rouge to your lips and cheeks and cherry blossom petals took right from the very cherry blossom garden you had just been in (it was a perfume that was on the dressing table when you got here, you had just assumed it was a gift everyone received) mixed with water was used to make a delicious spelling perfume.
With exactly 10 minutes left before the Queen Dowager wanted to see you, you left your apartment, your manservant Moon Jong-Up directing you, almost acting as your guard as well as your guide. When you arrived outside the Queen Dowagers garden, which only took moments as you quickly found out was right next to your apartment, Mr Moon stepped aside to let you enter first, before following you slightly behind, allowing you to look like you had found the garden yourself.
It doesn't take long to notice the Queen Dowager, it shocked you slightly when you saw that she was wearing the same colours just the other way around. The lady in front of you turns towards you, hearing your footsteps. She waits at the top of the stairs of the Pavilion she was standing in. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, you bow as low as possible to the elegant woman before you. "You're early Lady Seo" the woman speaks. "My apologies Your Majesty, I was excited to meet you once again." You speak, not allowing your nerves to take over your anxiety.
“Don’t be, it is a good thing for a woman to have, to have time management perfected, especially for a woman. Especially for a woman who may be the future mother of the kingdom, the future queen.” She says, her very words making you blush.
“You speak of me too highly My Queen,” you say. “I am eternally grateful for your gracious gift. The fabric is the softest thing I have ever had touch my skin. If there is anything I can do to show my thankfulness, please allow me to do it. Would you like some tea, Your Royal Highness?” you ask, noticing the teapot and teacups whilst you were looking around in nervousness.
“You need not worry Lady Seo, this is no longer a test, you do not need to pour my tea for me,” she says, her voice full of authority, before nodding slightly to a man that you almost hadn’t seen when you entered the pavilion. “You intrigue me, Lady Seo, you are so unlike the other candidates, both in looks and mentality. Most of your candidates, when I had asked them why they were doing this, responded with generic answers” she speaks “For his Royal Highness the King’s happiness, to get to know you Your Highness” she carries on, her voice changing to mimic the people she was speaking about, at the sound of her change in voice you let out a giggle, covering your mouth. “But your answer, it was different, you wanted to make your family proud. This was something I wanted when I was a candidate to marry the King's late father” she finishes, the words turning the mood serious once more. A lady, small and almost meek approached the table, taking the teapot and pouring tea into both the cups on the table, before retreating to her spot against the wall of the garden. “You have a beautiful garden My Queen,” you tell her trying to achieve the once jovial mood the pavilion had a matter of minutes ago. “I spent a few brief minutes in the cherry blossom garden, and I truly believe that it was the happiest moment of my life,” you tell her, allowing the smile to fill your face as your mind retrieves the memory you were talking of.
“The King’s favourite spot is also in the cherry blossom garden, he begged his father to plant the trees when he was still King, persuading him by telling him that he would propose to his future queen in that very garden,” the Queen Dowager tells you, allowing you a little into the past of the King, who you were yet to set eyes upon.
Before thinking, you blurt out “Were you scared when you made the application to become the late King Se-Jeong’s wife?” A few moments pass, and just as you go to open your mouth to apologise, the dowager stops you. “I was, in fact, I was terrified, to tell you the truth, I never wanted it, but I needed to do it for the pride of my family. I was lucky that I fell in love with the King eventually, and we had a good, long and happy life,” she answers with a small smile on her face, reminiscing on the memories of her past. “I actually have a few questions for you myself if you don't mind”
“It would be my honour to answer your questions My Queen” you respond, nervousness filling your body even more.
“The king is very… uh… close with his closest men. Would that be a problem with you?” she starts. “Of course not, if our Great King is happy, then I myself shall be happy,” you respond, hoping your answer satisfies her. She nods, with a small hum of approval.
“And concubines? What are your opinions on the concubines?” she continues her questioning.
You pause, this was something you had thought about. “Well My Queen, I have a feeling that if I was ever to become Queen, the other two candidates that would have gotten through, would be my school bullies-” the queen cuts you off after hearing of your bullies “Your bullies are in the palace?” She questions with an eyebrow raised.
“Yes Your Highness, Kim Seol-Hyun and Kwon Eun-Bi, their apartments are Carnelian and Opal if I remember correctly”, the Queen Dowager nods again. “So what would you do if you became Queen and them the concubines?” She asks, her interest even more peaked.
“Part of me would want to through them into the dungeons like they had threatened they would do with me earlier today. Another part of me would want all of the king's concubines gone but the biggest part of me wants the King to be happy, and if the concubines make My Great King happy, then I shall live with the concubines.” The Queen Dowager looks almost shocked. “The Kings happiness, at the end of the day, will always be my source of happiness, whether I get through to the final round, or I don’t. The King, from what I have heard in rumours spread across cities and towns, near and far, is that when the King is happy, the land thrives, and the people are well. My family are part of his people, and as well as making them proud, I desperately want them to be happy… even my father.” you tell her.
“Your father?"

Queen of tear ep.2
Short review + personal thoughts, grab some popcorn because it's going to be a long post :D
☆゜・。。・゜゜・。。・゜★☆゜・。。・゜゜・。。・゜★
In this ep. the showrunner show a little light from the past of our couple, how Hyun Woo was so attached to Hae In and how he wanted to protect her, also we can see some flashback from an accident that happened to Hae In.
╔══════════════════════════════════════════╗
Baek Hyun Woo point of view.
The ep. begins with Hyun Woo sleeping peacefully in his bed (like the weight on his shoulders were lifted) but it did not take too much to start to feel “guilty” about his happy mood and start to think how sad he should look like.
He goes to check on his wife because she was running late, he was caught (by her) checking if she was still breathing because in his eyes, she looked dead, and he kissed her out of the blue in a way of not being seen suspicious about his thought.
Latter on the episode, he is chatting with his friend and also reveal the secret that his wife would be dead in three months, so his friend propose to just start to act more lovely towards her with the purpose to get in his hand her inheritance* and so he does it, helping her in every way possible (even with her family) and buying flowers because of their marriage anniversary.
Tumblr media
Hong Hae In point of view.
She was feeling suspicious of her husband because he was acting out of character, he was acting like the old him (the one that was always taking care of her, the one that she followed to the country side in a helicopter, just to come back with him), but after she caught him browsing her disease, she got faith that maybe he was sincerely concern about her condition.
She even called him when once of her "enemies" try to bully her because she went alone to an event where it was needed to go with their partner. She felt hopeless because Hyun Woo was in a trial and he was unreachable to her and she needed him to win over her bully and clap her back, and out of the blue he showed up at the event.
Tumblr media
╚══════════════════════════════════════════╝
Personal thoughts
I did not mentioning the following objects because I want to discuss them here, it felt pointless to highlight them above, because is not part of their POV.
As far as we know, Seon Hwa (FL mom) hates her because she was the cause of the death of her/his sibling?¿ (I personally think this was an accident, and that accident affected her in way she start to be more logical and objective oriented)
About the inheritance* I think she sign a doc where she gives all of her money to Hyun Woo in case something happened to her.
We have Hyun Woo getting jealous about this new character (sorry I forgot the name and I am not sure if the name was Yoon Eun Seong D:) and yes, he is in denial about this jealousy.
We know that Hae In did not showed up at the meeting with her husband (ep.1) because she did not wanted to go, but because of her condition. So once again I am saying that she LOVES him but thanks to her trauma (the accident with her sibling) and condition she looks cold in the eyes of Hyun Woo.
So we know she have a brain tumor, that is inoperable, but miracles may occur.
I think the "feeling" or "faith" Hae In is having towards her husband does confirm at the end of the episode where Hyun Woo shot at the wild boar was on his way to attack her. BTW the CGI was horrible.
Hong Soo Cheol i do not know what to think about him, he can't be that weak?¿ I mean he is the opposite of his sister... and Seon Hwa babysit him alot.
Hong Beom Ja (Hae In aunt) I like how her character lights up the show, she may getting in jail by killing her dad girlfriend, she does not trust her and she is doing right.
Talking about Mo Seoul Hee (Beom Ja dad girlfriend) she will take the fortune of Hong Man Dae (her bf) by asking for that favor she won playing go with Man Dae. She is fishy!! I said it.
By now I just feel the family of Hyun Woo does not have consistency to add or vital information about the story aside for the flash backs from when he was living with them. I may be wrong but by now that is.
❀~✿ ❀~✿ ❀~✿ ❀~✿❀~✿ ❀~✿ ❀~✿ ❀~✿❀~✿ ❀~✿ ❀~✿ ❀~✿
That's all I can recall from yesterday ep. yup, I watched yesterday this episode and didn't feel inspired to write about it right away :D.
Hope you enjoyed this post!! and if you want to discuss some topics about this drama feel free to it ~.
Bye~~

THE SUNG JIN-WOO SHIP FEST IS HERE! ψ(`∇´)ψ
Tumblr media
Far faster than I expected because I was like "Eh it could wait for next year when the first manwha publication date rolls around. " and then said publication date was March 4 2018 when the series started and I was like... oh... yeah no the fandom will be dead by March of next year unless the Anime somehow comes out at that time.
So happy late Anniversary on the Webtoon!
If the Anime does manage to keep it alive then I'll do another one possibly, but shorter because I dont think all characters here will really be shown in the series.
So how will this event start?
For round 1, Two groups will appear each day over the course of 4 days, so you can vote on 2 different kinds of polls a day:
Said dates will be:
April 1st: [Igris vs Antares] and [Thomas Andre vs Yoo Jin-Ho]
April 2nd: [Goto Ryuji vs Radiru Esil] and [Kim Dokja vs Kang Tae-Shik]
April 3rd: [Woo Jin-Chul vs Baek Yoon-Ho] and [Liu Zhigang vs Lee Ju-Hee]
April 4th: [Cha Hae-In vs Choi Jong-In] and [Beru vs Sung Jin-Woo]
April 5th: The polls for Group 9 and Group 12 will be opened.
April 6th: The polls for Group 10 and Group 11 will be opened.
April 7th: The Polls for Semifinalist Group 13 and 14 will be opened!
April 8th: The polls for the Finalists of Group 15 will be opened.
April 9th: The finalist shall be married off (in a fic) to Sung Jin-Woo! — Edit: oh no, it has become a full on fanfiction.
Now you may be asking, wtf are Dokja and Jin Woo doing there? hey I found their tags on ao3, if anything considering the amount of kim x sung I found it shouldnt even be a question. As for jin woo, if he ends up winning then the aroace community ends up winning.
Edit: Ah man I was supposed to publish this on March 31st but my phone hates me. Anyways I'll just reblog it that day to keep yall updated when the time comes!

Whew wow of all the climaxes we’ve had so far (and there’s been so many!) I think Minjeong’s arrival might be in the top 5. How unexpectedly things are have been heating up. In hindsight, of course y/n’s chance of escape would come through in the form of another vampire. I couldn’t even begin to wrap my head around how she’d be able to escape on her own. Although it seems that all the vampires we’ve met so far are pretty fucked up in their own form of hierarchy and loyalty to their own blood/race, but who’s to say there aren’t any truly good ones around? Minjeong just might be the answer.
Hoseok told y/n about his ex but he obviously didn’t go into explicit details. Was in Namjoon or Jimin who gave the tea on how their parents had to intervene to separate Hoseok from Minjeong? I can’t exactly remember but regardless she sure knows how to make an entrance. Which begs the question: why? She went through hell with Hoseok and fought hard to get away from him, so why come back? Is it a coincidence that Minjeong happened to run into the Bangtan clan at the mall or did someone tip her off? Is she really that selfless about y/n’s to the point she’s willing to put her own safety at risk again?
I’m most curious as to what she meant by “He's not who you think he is.“ As in he’s not the loving boyfriend figure/hero everyone thinks he is? Well, we've already established that, however, I can’t help but feel she’s implying something more. The more I think about it who exactly are the Bangtan clan? They're in the business of selling their saliva drug but where does their hierarchy stand when it comes to other vampires? Maybe that’s not too important to this story, or maybe it is. We’ll find out well enough I’m sure. Lastly, y/n’s nausea...she’s not pregnant is she? Because that would really put a wrench in her plans. I know Hoseok doesn’t wrap it up but I also know anxiety can be nausea inducing, so let me not get too ahead of myself. I could be reading too much into things but you have a way of getting the gears in my head turning.
With that said, I’ve been so busy these past few weeks but it was really fun to binge read the latest chapters of Covetous. I’m always so excited to see which direction the story takes. Thank you for writing such an amazing story and doing so consistently at that! You’re amazing and I look forward to chapter 43!
— cloudy anon ☁️
Ah I forgot to add:
Y/n’s letter to Hyun-woo. I’m a little surprised Hoseok sent it like he promised. Then again, I’m not because if there’s one thing we know about Hoseok is that he always keeps his promise. Be it for good or for bad, he’s a man of his word. He’s done such a good job so far of playing the loving boyfriend role while giving his little warnings here and there. So I am surprised he let his mask slip a little. Then again, I’m sure the idea of your lover attempting to keep in contact with their ex-master/lover has the potential to tick anyone off.
I think I feel bad for Sunmi the most though. I hope nothing bad happens to her now that Hyung-won feels like she betrayed him. Speaking of Hyung-won, he’s such a precarious character. In the beginning it really seemed like he had no ill feelings towards y/n. Hoseok basically kidnapped y/n, sure, but from another perspective it feels more like Hyung-won sold her off, or more precisely gave her away. Not that she was ever morally his to give, but the technicalities of the whole master-servant relationship beg to differ.
It’s like Hyung-won was looking for any reason to get rid of y/n, and Hoseok’s arrival was the perfect opportunity. I get that it was out of concern for his brother, but y/n should realize that although she may not like it at Bangtan, returning to the Baek’s is no longer an option either. Even if Hyun-won was out of the picture, her relationship with Hyun-woo is equally strained and fucked up because I doubt he’d ever be content with going back to how they were pre-Hoseok’s arrival. Hyun-woo will always want more from her, probably more than she’ll ever be willing to give.
Minjeong just might be the answer. Or maybe she has a plan that'll benefit her in the long run.
I think it was Jimin who told her what happened with Minjeong. To be honest I don't remember and this is my story 😅 We'll see what her plans are in tonight's chapter!
It's not too important in the story but the Bangtan clan is just very well known because of what their job entails. Their father was already well known and despite knowing what they do people are interested in the vast amount of wealth they've procured. In a way they are in a high position in the hierarchy because people put them there. They want what they have and despite trying not everyone can successfully do what the Bangtan clan can do.
I don't know if Y/N's pregnant. Maybe, maybe not 👀 We shall see!
Hoseok can be loyal. If anything he really is loyal to those he cares about. Unlike some *cough cough* Namjoon. Her wanting to contact Hyun-Woo did set him off because he saw it as "you belong to me and not him anymore." His mind took him two steps ahead and he imagined them being reunited and he couldn't have that. No matter what.
Sunmi is just a gentle soul that wants to help as much as she can and she really fell for Y/N. She really wanted to make more of their blooming friendship.
Hoseok and Seokjin only did a little bit in their plan to take her home with them. Hyung-Won was convinced from the beginning. He didn't like how she had his brother wrapped around her finger and how jealous and possessive he became with her. He saw him acting like a spoiled child with his demands on who could interact with her. His dislike for Y/N began to grow the day Hyun-Woo said he wanted to be the only one to feed from her. He did his best to hide it because he didn't want to hear his brother's mouth. He'd oftentimes complain to Hyun-Sik about it. It's why Hyun-Sik did nothing to help defend Y/N.
Yeah Hyun-Woo wouldn't want things to "go back to normal." He'd want to continue this fantasy relationship with her even if it was against her will. So he's not any better than Hoseok.
And thank you for your kind words! Thank you for reading. Thank you for a lot of things. I really appreciate the support.

What if Anime Characters (Especially Japanese) have Chinese, Korean, and English names – Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End ver. (Part 1)
Those kanji names can be translated into Hanzi (Chinese) and Hangeul (Korean) based on en.wiktionary.org
Remember, this is only for Japanese characters, not Western (like Vampires) characters. Except for Mikaela since he has a Japanese surname even though his first name is Western (and I think it's common for some Hafu (half-Japanese half-foreigner people) like that. Also, their Chinese will be written with Chinese Simplified instead of Chinese Traditional to make it sound like in Mainland China.
1. Yuichiro Hyakuya (百夜 優一郎)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Yuichiro's Kanji name (優一郎) = 優 means “excellence, superiority, gentleness” ; 一 means "one"; 郎 means " man, son ". Meanwhile, Yuichiro’s true last name, Amane (天音) means "heavenly sound."
Chinese Name: 百夜 优一郎 (Bǎiyè Yōuyīláng) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 白优一郎 (Bái Yōuyīláng), because 白 (Bái) seems more common surname in China than 百 (Bǎi). That also applies to all the Hyakuya orphanage children. NB: There is a rare case of people with four syllables in their name in China and Korea.
Birth Chinese Name: 天音 优一郎 (Tiānyīn Yōuyīláng) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 田优一郎 (Tián Yōuyīláng), because it’s difficult to find 天 (Tiān) in Chinese surname. So, I use 田 (Tián), which is common in China and Korea.
Korean Name: 벡야 우일랑 (Baekya Woo-ilrang) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 벡우일랑 (Baek Woo-ilrang).
Birth Korean Name: 천음 우일랑 (Cheon-eum Woo-ilrang) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 전우일랑 (Jeon Woo-ilrang) due to match his Chinese/Hanja name that seems common in Korea.
English Name: Based on one of his kanji names, I'll name him Gabriel because Gabriel in Hebrew origin means "God is my strength" or "a hero of God" (Coincidentally, it’s suitable for Yuu as the hero and has the high strength during his battle). In Christian belief, Gabriel is revered not only as one of only two archangels mentioned in the Bible (alongside Michael) but as the bearer of very good news. Someone with the name Gabriel is often seen as being kind-hearted and generous (just like Yuu (優)’s meaning name). Also, I want to match his English name with Mikaela’s one which is associated with archangels in the Christian bible. So, his English name is Gabriel Hyakuya/Gabriel Amane (Gabi).
2. Mikaela Hyakuya (百夜 ミカエラ)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Mikaela (or Michael in another word) in Latin "Gift from God" or "God-like". Mikaela/Michael is one of the archangels alongside Gabriel (which later became Yuu’s English name). In the bible, Michael is the leader of the Army of God and the leader of heaven's forces in their triumph over the powers of hell. He is viewed as the angelic model for the virtues of the "spiritual warrior", his conflict with evil taken as "the battle within". Meanwhile, Mikaela’s true last name, Shindo (進藤) means "advance, make progress" (進) (shin) and "wisteria" (藤) (dō)
Chinese Name: 百夜 米迦尔 (Bǎiyè Mǐjiāěr) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 白米迦尔 (Bái Mǐjiāěr). 米迦尔 (Mǐjiāěr) itself is the Chinese name version of Michael.
Birth Chinese Name: 进藤 米迦尔 (Jìnténg Mǐjiāěr) → If he has a Chinese name, his surname will be 金米迦尔 (Jīn Mǐjiāěr).
Korean Name: 벡야 미카엘라 (Baekya Mikaela) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 벡미카엘라 (Baek Mikaela).
Birth Korean Name: 진등 미카엘라 (Jindeung Mikaela) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 김 미카엘라 (Kim Mikaela) to match his Chinese name and one of his Japanese birth surnames. Also, Kim (김) is the most common name in Korea. Actually, 米迦尔 (Mǐjiāěr) is also being converted in Korea to be 미가이 (Migai). But it sounds too weird to hear it. Also, I think it’s not important to translate it too much. For me, Mikaela (미카엘라) sounds beautiful to him even though it has been converted into Korean rawly.
English Name: Actually, I don’t need to make his English name because his name is already English/Western, for God's sake. But since I think Mikaela seems too feminine for him, maybe I want to use Michael to sound more masculine than his true name. So, his English name is Michael Hyakuya/Michael Shindo (Micha). I think it will match Yuu’s Gabriel as the archangels-based name.
3. Guren Ichinose (一瀬 グレン)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Guren doesn’t have a Kanji name. Instead, he uses Katakana for his name. But, there is a Chinese name 紅蓮 (Guren). 紅 (gu) means "crimson", while 蓮 (ren) means "lotus". So, Guren with Kanji 紅蓮 = “crimson lotus” (source from here).
Chinese Name: 一濑红莲 (Yīlài Hónglián) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 易红莲 (Yì Hónglián) * Korean Name: 일뢰홍연 (Ilroe Hongyeon) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 이홍연 (Yee Hongyeon/Lee Hongyeon). * English Name: Since his name is in Katakana and when translated to English, his name will be read as Glenn Ichinose instead of Guren Ichinose. Also, Glenn in Irish origin means “glen” or “valley”. So, his English name is Glenn Ichinose.
4. Shinoa Hīragi (柊 シノア)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Shinoa doesn’t have a Kanji name just like Guren and she also uses Katakana as her name even though her name sounds no like a Western name like Guren’s. But in Chinese, Shinoa is written as 筱婭 = 筱 (Shino) means " dwarf bamboo, Alternative form of 小 (xiǎo)"; 婭 (a) means " a brother-in-law, mutual term of address used by sons-in-law". Shi (シ) can also mean Four 「四」 can be read as "Shi" 「し」. Shi 「死, し or シ」 means "Death."
Chinese Name: 柊筱娅 (Zhōng Xiǎoyà) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 钟筱娅 (Zhōng Xiǎoyà) because there is no 柊(Zhōng) in any Chinese hanzi surname or Korean hanja surname, but its phonetic is the same with 鍾/钟 (Zhōng). It will be the same case with any Hiiragi family so I only will explain it in this section.
Korean Name: 종 소아 (Jong So-ah) → Since her Kanji surname is only one syllable. So, it’s easy to identify it. So, definitely, her Korean name is 종소아 (Jong So-ah).
English Name: Since her name is Katakana but Shinoa even isn’t a Western name, I will use a two-syllable name, Noah instead to make it sound English. Noah in Hebrew word means "rest", "repose", or “peace.” In the U.S., Noah has traditionally been used as a boy's name. But the name Noah also can be used as a girl's name for example: Noah Cyrus (Miley Cyrus's younger sister). Even Noah as a feminine name means "motion" and stems from the Bible, in which No'ah was the daughter of Zelophedad. So, her English name is Noah Hīragi.
5. Yoichi Saotome (早乙女 与一)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Yoichi's Kanji name (与一) = 与 (Yo) means "to provide" or "award"; while 一 (ichi) means “one”.
Chinese Name: 早乙女与一 (Zǎoyǐnǚ Yǔyī) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 赵与一 (Zhào Yǔyī).
Korean Name: 조을여 여일 (Joeulyeo Yeo-il) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him조여일 (Jo Yeo-il/Cho Yeo-il).
English Name: Based on one of his kanji name meanings, I’ll name him Timothy with the nickname Timmy. Timothy is a masculine name of Greek origin. Coming from the name “Timotheos,” the name means “honoring God,” or “God's honor”. In the New Testament, Timothy was a saint and companion of Saint Paul, which can make for a meaningful set of twin names. That name is at least a little bit close to his kanji name 与 (Yo) which means "to provide" or "award" because I think it means to give some award with an honor to God. So, his English name is Timothy Saotome (Timmy).
6. Shihō Kimizuki (君月 士方)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Kimizuki's Kanji first name, Shihou (士方) = 士 (shi) means “samurai, warrior”; 方 (hou) means “direction, way, side”. That means, Shihou (士方) means “Samurai’s direction”
Chinese Name: 君月士方 (Jūnyuè Shìfāng) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 君士方 (Jūn Shìfāng) since I can’t find any Chinese surname in one of his Kanji surnames, finally I decided to use to 君 (Jūn) in Hanja (Korean-Chinese) name. Even that hanja surname is the rarest of the rare in the world (check here).
Korean Name: 군월 사방 (Goonwol Sabang) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 군사방 (Goon Sabang) (check the explanation on his Chinese name section).
English Name: Since I can’t find an English name that is suitable for one of his Kanji name meanings, I decided to use Raphael as his English name because I also want to match it with Yuu’s and Mika’s English name based on the Archangels. Archangel Raphael doesn’t exist in the Christian bible, but he exists in the Catholic bible as three main Archangels alongside Michael and Gabriel. If Michael is a warrior, Gabriel is a messenger, then Raphael is a guardian. Raphael in Hebrew word means “God has healed”. His job is to provide healing and guidance to the faithful. Due to his actions in the Book of Tobit and the Gospel of John, Saint Raphael is considered patron of travelers, the blind, happy meetings, nurses, physicians, medical workers, matchmakers, Christian marriage, and Catholic studies. I don’t know that those traits are in Kimizuki. But, at least, his desire to recover his sister from her illness and also his intelligence and his domestic skills like cooking seem amazing to him. So, his English name is Raphael Kimizuki (Raphie). Also, it reminds me of OnS game, The Bloody Blades, where there are Kimizuki alongside Yuu and Mika wearing Idol costumes event. Seems like they can make their English name as their stage name for their idol personas, or their group name will be “Guren’s Archangels” (kidding XD ). Hehehe...
7. Mitsuba Sangū (三宮 三葉)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Mitsuba's Kanji name (三葉) = 三 (Mitsu) means "three"; while葉 (ba) means “leaf”, means Mitsuba means "three-leaf clover."
Chinese Name: 三宫三叶 (Sāngōng Sānyè) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 龚三叶 (Gōng Sānyè).
Korean Name: 삼궁 삼엽 (Samgoong Sam-yeop) → If she has a Korean name, I'll name her 공삼엽 (Gong Sam-yeop). Sounds like a masculine name, huh?! But, what can I do? I just follow it based on the Chinese alphabet.
English Name: Based on her kanji name meaning, I’ll name her Clover because Clover the plant has three leaves. So, her English name is Clover Sangū.
8. Sayuri Hanayori (花依 小百合)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Sayuri's Kanji name (小百合) = 小 (Sa) means "small"; and 百合 (yuri) means “lily”.
Chinese Name: 花依小百合 (Huāyī Xiǎobǎihé) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 华小百合 (Huà Xiǎobǎihé)
Korean Name: 화의 소백합 (Hwaeui Sobaekhap) → If she has a Korean name, I'll name her 화소백합 (Hwa Sobaekhap).
English Name: Based on one of her kanji names meaning, I’ll name her Suzanne. Suzanne is a traditionally feminine name of French and Hebrew origins, meaning "graceful lily." Known as a popular southern belle just like her other -anne suffix sisters, Suzanne is undoubtedly an attractive choice for her. Some other names can be named Susan, Susannah, Susannah, and Suzette. But I think Suzanne is perfect for her rather than only Lily because of her delicate personality among the girls in the Guren squad. So, her English name is Suzanne Hanayori (Sue).
9. Shigure Yukimi (雪見 時雨)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Shigure's Kanji name (時雨) = 時 (Shi) means "autumn"; and 雨 (gure) means “rain”.
Chinese Name: 雪見時雨 (Xuějiàn shíyǔ) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 薛時雨 (Xuē shíyǔ).
Korean Name: 설현 시우 (Seolhyun Shiwoo) → If she has a Korean name, I'll name her설시우 (Seol Shiwoo).
English Name: Based on her kanji name meaning, I’ll name her Jora because Jora is a name of Hebrew origin that literally means "autumn rain". So, her English name is Jora Yukimi.
10. Mito Jūjō (十条 美十)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Mito's Kanji name (美十) = 美 (Mi) means "beauty, beautiful"; and 十 (to) means “ten”. So, Mito (美十) means "ten beauties".
Chinese Name: 十条美十  (Shítiáo Měishí) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 石美十  (Shí Měishí).
Korean Name: 십조 미십(Sípjo Misip) → If she has a Korean name, I'll name her 석미십 (Seok Misip).
English Name: Based on one of her kanji names meaning, I’ll name her Astrid. Astrid is a given name of Scandinavian origin, a modern form of the name Ástríðr. Derived from the Old Norse Ássfriðr, a compound name composed of the elements áss (a god) and fríðr (beautiful, fair). It means “divinely beautiful”; “beloved of the gods”. So, her English name is Astrid Jūjō.
11. Norito Goshi (五士 典人)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Goshi's first Kanji name, Norito (典人) =典 (nori) means “ceremony, rule, law”; while 人 (to) means “person, people”.
Chinese Name: 五士典人 (Wǔshì Diǎnrén) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 吴典人 (Wú Diǎnrén). * Korean Name: 오사 전인 (Ohsa Jeon-in) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 오전인 (Oh Jeon-in). * English Name: Based on his kanji name meaning (at least nearly the same meaning), I’ll name him Zadock. Zadoc (also spelled Zadock, Zadok, Sadok, Sadaqat, or Sadokat) is a given name (first name), originally from Hebrew, meaning "just" or "righteous". It was originally the name of several biblical figures. So, his English name is Zadock Goshi.
12. Makoto Narumi (鳴海 真琴)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Narumi's first Kanji name, Makoto (真琴) = 真(ma) means "true, real, genuine"; while 琴 (koto) means Koto, a Japanese harp. The name Makoto also means "sincerity" (誠).
Chinese Name: 鸣海真琴 (Mínghǎi Zhēnqín) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 明真琴 (Míng Zhēnqín).
Korean Name: 명해 진금 (Myunghae Jin-geum) → If he has a Korean name, I'll name him 명진금 (Myung Jin-geum).
English Name: Based on one of his name meanings (at least nearly the same meaning), I’ll name him Nathaniel or Nathan. Nathaniel, a Hebrew boy's name, means "God has given." This name features in the Old and New Testaments of the Christian bible, as well as the Jewish bible, where it's spelled as Nathanael. Nathaniel comes from the words natan, to give, and el, which is used to refer to God. I think the meaning of Nathaniel is nearly the same association with “sincerity” too. Some source stories also said that Nathaniel is also one of the archangels (even though not as popular as Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael). He is the Archangel of life purpose, manifestation, and transformation that gifts us six powerful motivational angelic incentives to inspire us and to help us on our way toward our life’s purpose: Self-forgiveness, worthiness, visualization, joy, new ventures & perseverance. So, his English name is Nathaniel Narumi (Nathan/Nat).

English Name: Based on his kanji name meaning (at least nearly the same meaning), I’ll name him George. George derived from the Greek word georgos and the Greek name Georgios, this baby name means “farmer” or “earthworker.” I think the name George has an association with someone who is a hard worker like Shusaku's meaning name. So, his English name is George Iwasaki.
14. Rika Inoue (井上 利香)
Tumblr media
Etymology: Rika's Kanji name (利香) = 利 (ri) means “profit, benefit, advantage”; while 香 (ka) means “incense, perfume, fragrant”.
Chinese Name: 井上 利香 (Jǐngshàng Lìxiāng) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 井利香 (Jǐng Lìxiāng).
Korean Name: 정상 이향 (Jungsang Lee-hyang) → If she has a Korean name, 정이향 (Jung Lee-hyang).
English Name: The name Rika is a girl's name of Dutch origin meaning "beautiful village; peaceful ruler; estate ruler". Rika is most common as a Japanese name, when it means "beautiful village" in one kanji combination. Since Rika is like English name (or Universal origin for me), her English name is still Rika Inoue or if you want it you can change K to C to be Rica Inoue.

Chloe is a feminine name of Greek origin, meaning "young green shoot," "blooming," or "fertility." It is derived from the Greek name Khlóros which translates to "greenish-yellow color"—referring to the shade of springtime shoots. At least that name is suitable for Yayoi's Kanji meaning name. So, her English name is Chloe Endo.

Tumblr media
Etymology: Tarō's Kanji name (太郎) = (ta) means “big, fat, great, very large, thick, grand”; while 郎 (rou) means “son”. Taro also means "strong, heroic, masculine".
Chinese Name: 键山太郎 (Jiànshān Tàiláng) → If he has a Chinese name, I'll name him 简太郎 (Jiǎn Tàiláng).

Chinese Name: 相原爱子 (Xiāngyuán Aizǐ) → If she has a Chinese name, I'll name her 向爱子 (Xiàng Aizǐ).
Korean Name: 상원 애자 (Sangwon Aeja) → If she has a Korean name, 향애자 (Hyang Aeja).
English Name: Based on her kanji name meaning (at least nearly the same meaning), I’ll name her Amanda. Coincidentally, I use that name from the game character Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV, which shares same Japanese voice actor with Shinya, Tatsuhisa Suzuki (seiyuu thing, u know?). Part 1 (For JIDA + Mikaela Hyakuya) Part 2 (For Hyakuya Orphans + Shinoa Squad' sisters)
NB: Then I realized that all the Shinoa Squad boys (including Mika + Narumi) have English names meaning which related to God.
Yuu is "God's strength"
Mika is "God-like"
Yoichi is "God's honor"
Kimizuki is "God's healer"

Plus, Mito Jujo's English name also has a God-related meaning that is "beloved of the Gods".

The actors deliver convincing performances that portray the depth and intensity of their characters’ feelings and struggles. The chemistry between Song Seung-heon and Shin Se-kyung is especially captivating, as they show the passion and pain of their love-hate relationship.

The drama also has a well-written plot that keeps the viewers hooked with its twists and turns. The drama starts with a simple premise: Han Tae-sang, who has a cold and ruthless personality, meets Seo Mi-do, who has a fiery and ambitious spirit, and falls in love with her. However, as the drama progresses, the story becomes more complicated and unpredictable, as the past and the present collide, and new characters and obstacles emerge. The drama explores various themes, such as redemption, betrayal, sacrifice, loyalty, and forgiveness, and shows how the characters grow and change through their experiences.
Tumblr media
The drama is not a typical romantic comedy, but rather a tragic and realistic love story that depicts the harsh realities and consequences of love. The drama does not shy away from showing the dark and violent aspects of the characters’ lives, such as the gangster world, the loan shark business, and the family issues. The drama also does not offer a happy and easy ending, but rather a bittersweet and realistic one, that leaves the viewers with mixed emotions and thoughts.

It is a drama that will show you the beauty and the pain of love. If you are looking for a drama that will move you and challenge you, then you should watch When a Man Falls in Love. I'm kinda busy today so I'll be doing this as quickly as I can. Episode 11 is all about healing and reconciliation.
📍Hae-in's voice over after she collapsed and was the taken to the hospital made me cry. She was just as hurt as Hyun-woo when their marriage fell apart yet she didn't put the blame entirely on him. She knew she had her shortcomings too, her apologizing not just to Hyun-woo but her entire family as well is the most humble she has ever been and I am so proud of her. She finally broke her barriers, I can sense that a huge weight has been lifted on her shoulders now because she realized that it's okay to be vulnerable and that she doesn't have to carry this burden all on her own.
📍Papa Hong finally becoming the man of the family, Hong Soo Cheol the baby is finally growing up, Mama Hong realizing what an asshole she has been are the kind of character developments I've been waiting to see. Finally, they're getting their shit together.
📍The entire family finally getting along, supporting Hae-in and working together to get rid of their enemies are the most enjoyable scenes for me.
📍Mr. & Mrs. Baek being more in-love than ever and fighting together like the power couple they have always been is chef's kiss! I guess I've come to terms now that their story might not end up the way we all hope for, so...I'll probably just go with the flow and prepare myself to ugly cry when the last episode airs I guess.
📍Aunt Beom-ja's new husband 😏 I guess she and Hae-in have a lot in common. It's just that auntie is the more unhinged version of Hae-in.
📍Yoon Eun-seong is just so pathetic at this point that I almost feel sorry for him...almost. Dude really thought that after all he did, and even going as far as gaslighting Hae-in would make her run to him, why can't he just accept it?! 🤦 Also, I knew that Hae-in was hallucinating in the last clip. I am just so relieved that Hyun-woo was able to save her. At this point, I could no longer take this bitch seriously.

Woo Gwang-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) / Chidi Anagonye (The Good Place) / Joel Hammond (Santa Clarita Diet) / Dorothy Zbornak (Golden Girls) / Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) / Appa (Kim's Convenience) / Aziraphale (Good Omens) / Baek Isak (Pachinko)
Woo Gwang-ho - The way they love!! Their children!! And he's a single dad! Gwang-ho's daughter is also disabled (autistic) like Nemo is (his wing) and he will not abide his daughter being treated poorly because of it and I love that for Gwang-ho and Marlin both. And the way they both gave up things important to them for their childrens' sake. Gwang-ho, his career as a lawyer. Marlin, his home country.
Chidi Anagonye - Look at that ball of existential dread and tell me that ain't Marlincore. I rest my case.
Joel Hammond - Joel is SO Marlin! The one-liners are simply /*chef's kiss*/ and it's the way he literally would and does do murder for his wife lmao. Your man would never.
Dorothy Zbornak - This is more inner Marlin than outer Marlin, but god Marlin really is...such a bitch <3 respectfully to mother Dorothy, patron saint of queen bitches <3
Lorelai Gilmore - Lorelai/Rory is such Marlin/Nemo energy! They're best friends<3 They love each other SO much and are super close, they sometimes just be hanging out like besties especially now that Nemo's twenty.
Appa - So, this is more so Appa's relationship with Janet in the show than the whole character. But his relationship with his daughter Janet is very Marlin and Nemo! The character as a whole does have Marlin vibes but especially that character relationship!
Aziraphale - This one is a little more you need to squint. But! Ahem, allow me. Aziraphale is bad at being an angel despite that simply being what he is. Marlin is often regarded as being "bad" at being a fairy, with his slightly individualistic tendencies. At the same time he's inherently "bad" at the human world because he's a Hollow-raised fairy. He's a little bit of a bastard, not enough to make him a terrible person, and a lot of it is internal or only comes out when talking shit to people he's close to but he honestly IS a little more mean-spirited than a fairy is expected to be.
Baek Isak - Y'all need to read this book and watch the Apple TV show! It's so good!!! Isak is such Marlincore. For Isak and Marlin both, enabling their wives and children to have a chance at a good life is the most important thing; neither man is ever motivated by the desire for his own success or his own happiness. Marlin cares a little bit about enjoying himself -- primarily with friendships and his hobbies, but it's still secondary to Nemo's needs and wants.
