the first time sam dies after getting stabbed in the back when he truly thought he was going to walk away from the nightmare of a day he had, so close to reaching bobby and dean (his face full of relief), and then dying before he even realizes it (he probably did know). all he can feel is the pain and his brother talking, but he's not quite sure what dean is saying at this point. gosh sam dying with his bangs was something else. iconic above anything else.

regardless of everything I think it’s pretty much undeniable that season one dean would full on commit murder-suicide (kill late seasons dean and then himself) if he saw the state of late seasons sam and i think that’s pretty telling

@frazzledsoul shared an absolutely baffling take that she spotted on Instagram . Someone claimed "People are so distracted by Jess' looks that they overlook the fact he is a calculator (calculated?) person only at the age of 16 it's alarming and SICK that Jess knew how to manipulate Dean and Rory's relationship to make them feel uncomfortable with each other! Jess did this to make Dean feel insecure and paranoid so Rory got progressively more distant and Jess can take Rory away from him!" Dean wasn't insecure and paranoid until Jess showed up? I smell a trash take! Lessgo! I notice Dean's supporters who blame Jess for being a big ol Ruiner seem to gloss over Dean's jealousy over TRISTAN (who was nothing more than a bully and a harrasser that Rory wasn't dating or even interested in). If everything was so dang hunky dory for Dean and Rory (Lol, that rhymed) before Jess shows up, what is Dean's excuse for being insecure, paranoid, and making Rory uncomfortable for the entire first season of the show, another 5 episodes of season 2 until Jess shows up, then another some odd epsiodes into season 2 until Dean and Jess even just meet each other or are simply aware of each other's existence? The first time we truly see the rivalry between Dean and Jess start brewing on screen isn't until Bracebridge Dinner (2x10), and then it heats up for realsies in A Tisket a Tasket (2x13). So before 2x,10, who was using their psychic abilities on Dean to "make him" treat Rory like crap for 30 some odd episodes? He treated Tristan with the same jealous contempt as he did Jess, and I would argue it was even worse. in fact in Love, Daisies, and Troubadors, Tristan grabs Rory's books without her consent while Dean is in the Chilton parking lot. All he has to do is see Tristan with Rory's books (that she didn't want him to take and was trying to get back from him) and he doesn't ask Rory any questions. His temper is instantly set off and he becomes scarily jealous in the school parking lot and starts raising his voice at Rory in front of hundreds of other students.
Not to excuse Tristan for being a bully. Poor Rory is exhausted and she should probably just give up on boys, run away and join a nunnery. But we're talking about Dean The Butt Forrester here. Just seeing another boy carrying Rory's books was enough to set him off.
Just a very select few examples of Dean being insecure, paranoid jealous, and just a garden variety asshole, and Rory's "comfort" with him, long before Liz stuck Jess on that bus to hell:

See, he's more than capable of being a butt clown all on his own! Sorry Dean Lovers, ya'll get five seasons worth of your lover boy and we only get 1 and a half of Jess. You can't use Jess as a "get out of jail free card" for every shitty thing Dean does.

actual textual analysis aside i just love to personally interpret sammy as absolutely batshit freaky obsessed with his big brother pre-stanford and the dynamic being kind of flipped on its head during s1. like sam has worked to "get over" (repress) his feelings while they've been apart but absence has only made dean more obsessed and crazy so when they get back together (and sam is old enough that dean has one less excuse NOT to be freaky about him!!) it's this weird tense push-pull turmoil until something snaps and they kiss and it all comes bleeding out and they get to be equally insane about one another. that's soo juicy and delicious and sexy to me

Ok but what’s YOUR favorite (good things) about Lupin?
God, I love Remus Lupin.
This might sound odd, but, re-reading a lot Remus’s dialogue for some new writing, I’ve really come to appreciate how he speaks, and who he is in conversations in the Order. I know in a lot of fics (including some very famous ones...) Remus is written as someone very rough around the edges, quite coarse in his language. And while he is rough in some ways, hardened by his life experiences and forceful when angered, Remus often speaks quite formally, with a sort of high-minded articulateness. He’s also often the one, in Order scenes, who adds an almost philosophical angle to discussions, injects the big picture into conversation, draws in the context of politics and press. I think he's someone who sees Wizarding society and its institutions for what they are. Partly this is because of the lens he has on society because of his own marginalisation, but I think it's also because of his own temperament and great intelligence. Few characters think as clearly as him. (I think this is important in understanding his reverence for Dumbledore: not just gratitude, but a really profound intellectual respect).
Most of all, I just love how liked Remus was by tertiary characters. I love seeing how much both Molly and Arthur valued having him in their children’s lives, quietly affirming their trust in him, and respecting his place as the peacekeeper and negotiator between them and the more rebellious characters in the Order's orbit (both their own children, but also Sirius). I really love how important he was as a mentor figure to different young people in the series, almost despite himself. I'm trying to write and think a lot about this at the moment: Remus as a figure who young people repeatedly latch onto as a mentor, including, but not limited to, Harry.
Dean Thomas’ relationship with Remus is such a good example of this. Dean repeatedly describes Remus as the best DADA teacher they ever had, both in PoA and two years later in OotP, when defending him to Umbridge. When Dean finds out Remus is a werewolf in PoA, he could not give less of a shit (and actually hopes they’ll get a vampire next year seen as he’s really liked the last dangerous creature who taught them, which speaks volumes about how much respect he has for Remus). Dean just really rates him and looks up to him in this extremely endearing way. I love that Dean got to see his favourite teacher again at Shell Cottage in DH. That Dean got to see Remus at his happiest, completely euphoric at the birth of his son, shake his hand one last time and congratulate him, is really special. I think it's one of the most underrated, bittersweet moments in the series.

I'm still doing my rewatch while my sister is seeing the show for the first and, man, there was thing I didn't remember very well.
Dean facing his demon self in a dream, that was so fucking INTENSE! WOW! And seeing Dean not wanting to go to Hell while you know what will happen is fucking heartbreaking. He finally said his father put so much shit on him and was like, "Yeah you go tell them, LOUDER!" The line that finished me was him saying he didn't deserve to go to Hell. He really didn't. And it makes me so mad to know how his story end, whatever, this is a problem for later.
And then in Mystery Spot, Sam had to live 6 months without Dean. You can see how much he suffered. Before watching it, I told my little sister that it was a fun episode, a bit sad but still funny. At the end she said: "that was the episode you wanted to see?" Well yeah, it was but in my head it was definitely funnier. But here Sam looked fucking destroyed at the end.

As I am watching the earlier seasons of SPN I find the relationship between Dean and Sam especially interesting. They care so much about each other, they are the brothers ever actually.
That episode with Gabriel trying to teach Sam that they can’t keep sacrificing oneself for the other one but they are just so devoted and dependent to each other that it’s impossible to live without the other one
I’ll try and explain better when my thoughts on them feel more coherent

I don't know what the feeling of love is really like. I don't know if I have ever been in love, but if I have, it must have been with you because I never felt that feeling before you and I have never felt that feeling after you.

@starryyide this is the song that Dean wrote as a birthday present for Jerry in 1953. It is a private recording and has never been recorded on record. It is ironic and romantic at the same time. Twice Dean tells Jerry he loves him...❤️ But I can't understand what he's saying when he says "I'll marry..." who? It is not understandable

Hii. I love your writing and I was wondering if you could write about that episode were Dean threw the samulet im the trashcan. I need, oh I really need an alternate universe were everythings the same except for that. I need Sam to somehow stop Dean just in time, or to complain, or to throw a tantrum about how painful it is for him to see his older brother throwing away such a meaningful gift. Or to see Dean feeling guilty the second he crossed the doorframe. SOMETHING. I kinda hate the writers for allowing such a painful scene to happen.
Hi!
I'm so glad you are enjoying! Thank you for the ask!!
Samulet
“Dean, what are you doing?” his voice is panicked, almost childlike. He’s stunned at what his brother is about to do. Is he seeing things?
Dean's got a necklace in his tightly clenched fist, hovering over the garbage can by the door.
It can't be the-
Dean, his back to Sam, flinches. He’d hoped Sam wouldn’t have seen.
Sam strides up to Dean and grabs the wrist that is still holding the amulet he gave him for Christmas so many years ago. He’s shocked, angry, and sad. He’s overwhelmed and not sure what to think. Dean doesn’t move, his back still to his brother. He doesn’t want to look at him. He still holds the necklace in an almost death-like grip.
“What are you doing? Why - why would you do this? This is us - this is everything!” Sam sputters his words, tears starting to form in his eyes.
Dean takes a deep breath and turns to face his brother.
And his heart shatters.
Sam’s sad, beautiful puppy dog eyes pull at his heart. He is clearly very hurt by this. Dean immediately starts to rethink this decision. He’d had no idea it would affect Sam this much.
“Sam, you don’t understand. This has to be -”
“No, Dean, YOU don’t understand. This is everything, this means - “ but he can’t finish. He chokes back a sob and lets go of Dean’s wrist. He lowers his head, long hair covering his eyes.  “If it doesn’t mean anything to you, then I guess I can’t stop you.” Without another word, he turns and walks to the bathroom, closing and locking the door behind him.
It happens so fast, Dean can’t respond. He looks at the amulet in his hand, and then at the bathroom door. He sighs and shakes his head, placing Sam’s everything in his pocket.
He walks toward the bathroom door and knocks.
“Hey, Sammy. Let’s talk, baby.”

WAIT BIG BRAINED THOUGHT:
Sam does smth stupid hoping Dean won't find out.
Someone rats Sam out to Dean.
Sam gets in trouble and a lecture from Dean (bc Dean is a parent and he is Sam's parent I will not accept criticism on this matter).
Later, Sam makes a group chat consisting of everyone who could have told on him to Dean and just sends this video:
#supernatural#spn#dean winchester#sam winchester#dean winchester is sam winchester's parent#and i will be accepting NO criticism on this matter!!!!#dean raised sam and in my heart i just know that its smth they dont really talk abt but they both 100% know and acknowledge it#and sam (the annoying little brother/kid) that he is to dean definitely calls dean 'mom' sometimes especially when hes being a little shit#but sam also loves his big brother and appreciates everything deans done and given up for him#so every year dean gets a pie and a little homemade card on mother's day and father's day from sam#when they were younger sam would give dean the card and actually say 'happy mother's/father's day dean' but once theyre older sam starts#sneaking the pie and card into dean's room or leaving them somewhere he knows dean will find them and neither of them say anything but dean#always gives sam a soft smile and usually a hug too before they continue w/ their day like its any other#the year dean spends w/ lisa and ben while sam's in hell/running around soulless ben makes dean a father's day card and dean gets all teary#and thanks him but then later when hes alone he just breaks down sobbing bc it just remimds him that sammy is gone#even when sam was at stanford and not really talking to dean he still sent dean a short message (text email voicemail whatever) on mother's#and father's day but now hes gone and dean wont even get that#btw dean def saves all of the cards sam's made him over the years and once theyre in the bunker he keeps them all in a special box that he#hides under his bed and he'll pull it out and look through them when hes having a bad day alongside the box of pictures <3#i did not mean to go insane in the tags here but oh well#enjoy my silly post and unhinged rambling ig
