Hi! Easter is coming soon, which means the time for small gifts is coming soon too!. This Easter bunny bookmark is a great idea. With the help of a special bookmark assembly, the basket becomes a pocket where you can put a small greeting card. You can buy this pattern in my Smasterilli shop on Inspire Uplift

Easter/Vernal Equinox Altar Cloth
Tumblr media
FINISHED!
The new Easter/Spring Equinox piece is composed of two main elements.  One of which is the eight pointed star.  “The eight pointed star is a symbol of the expanding universe, vital energy and magic.  Biophysicists say that such a star – octahedron – is the model of an energy field built around any living organism. The human zygote undergoes its first cell division, forming eight cells, eight energy flows, which then shape the physical and spiritual essence of the embryo.”
“The mallow or eight-pointed star is formed by superimposing a straight cross (symbol of masculinity and the Sun) and an oblique cross (symbol of femininity and the Moon). The joining of these two entities naturally gives life. The full mallow is also known as the Mother’s Star. This is the symbol we often see in icons of the Virgin Mary.”
There is also within the eight pointed star a square.  “The earth is often portrayed as a square. Spiritually, the square symbolizes Matter, whereas the circle is perfection, i.e. the Spirit. The square also stands for the number four, the four cardinal points, the four seasons, the four parts of life cycle, the four parts of the day…”
The second element is the ancient sown field motif, composed of four diamonds each with a dot in the center.  This motif dates as far  back as the Neolithic and Paleolithic period in Eastern and central Europe.

This pattern is from a 1970s book from what was then Czechoslovakia.  I designed the border based on this vintage Czechoslovakian stamp gifted to me at Christmas by my husband:

The colors are based on my favorite red, orange, black and white combination found in some kraslice, the traditional Czech Easter eggs:

And we are back! (Officially. This time for real. I promise.)
...please don't hate me :(
So to celebrate my 'return' here's some more words from my outlast au (god I really should come up with an actual title for this au at some point lol)
All the while Ashley's eyes scour Chris's face in an attempt to burn it back into her brain, her thumbs were doing their own exploration. Tracing every line and dip and ridge as though it was a map, re-familiarizing herself with a geography she had once known as well her own. But every pass over skin seems to reveal that while the basic topography of his face had stayed the same, the landscape itself had changed enough in small, minute ways that it was like almost like exploring uncharted terrain with only the occasional familiar and well-loved landmarks to guide her way.
And a cross-stitch update per the usual of course. Finished the black/dark blue of the background which means it's colour time once again! Only made a small start thus far, but at least you can now see the outline for the rest of the stunky for me to fill in, plus hints of the missing (angler? bulb? antenna? tail? fuck if i know lol) piece of the chinchou that lays just over top of it. Baby steps ya'll!

🧶 Weekly WIP 🧶
2023 Week 38
Here is everything I have been working on in the past week. 🧡
Tumblr media
🔸 PJ Alterations - I recently bought another amazing pair of Printfresh pajamas (in the print Unicorn's Garden - green) during their big end of summer sale. If you're a fancy PJ girlie (or a gorgeous maximalist print girlie) then save up and wait for their big bi-annual sales because these things are to die for. My one complaint with their button up tops is they have big floppy button plackets that basically require pressing if you don't want them to crumple up constantly. So with my new top I just did a quick little whip stitch to keep things in place.

🔸 'It is Finished' Cross Stitch - Recently a friend of mine reached out and asked if I would teach her how to embroider. I figured that cross stitch was probably the best place to start since she's never really done any fiber crafts. I found this lovely little pattern on Etsy by 'A New Creation By Alison' and I thought it would be a great starter project since it is relatively small and only three colors.
Tumblr media
🔸 Woolen Sweater Alteration - I got this beautifully embroidered sweater at the thrift store a few years ago, and I finally decided that i would prefer if it was a sweater vest. So I trimmed off the sleeves, cut down the length to make it cropped, and then got scared of actually sewing it so I put it down for 6 months. haha Now that it is getting cold again I really want to finish it, so I pulled it out and I hope to get it finished in the next few weeks.
Tumblr media
🔸 Commissioned Beyoncé Tour Tank - Last by not least, this piece that I am making for a friend of mine who is going to the Beyoncé Renaissance World Tour. He wanted a top that evoked her custom Loewe bodysuit. Stretch fabrics are definitely outside of my wheelhouse (not to mention sequins) so this has been a really fun learning experience. I will probably have a dedicated post going into the details around the project.
🔸 Other Weekly WIPs:
Katuscia Tank - top half is mostly finished, I just need to add the straps. May not add the bottom panel as I am considering using this as a night shirt.
Medieval hood - fully finished other than the hem
Lillian suit jacket - need to purchase lining fabric and start on the mock-up
Happy sewing ✂️🧶✂️🧶,
Mrs. Crow
