#Idk if it’s any good but it’s been a few weeks that it’s existed on paper so now it’s digitally drawn as well #there is a plot also #that is mostly figured out #So ask about that if you want that kind of exists just probably not well considering I haven’t technically watched Adventure Time #but eh I know hopefully enough for this au #anyway! So Scarab is an acidic water spider beetle creature thingy. (These two are both made of magic water stuff) he works as and disguise #as a fire spirit type creature instead though with the help of a neat little magicy necklace #Prismo is a mermaid type water spirit and is supposed to keep his little corner of an environment nice and cared for #which he does and well but Ig he meets Jake who’s a fisher or something and has been having trouble catching anything because Prismo’s a #little too efficient with that and also other reasons #they get along or something Idk and Prismo helps him catch some fish #a lot of it because Prismo has little concept of how many fish are too many fish or something Idk #anyway he isn’t really supposed to do that #other spirits are probably suspecting something like this is going on but they don’t think he’ll cause any harm so they’re pretty chill #about that Ig #Scarab however is of course not and has nothing better to do #Ig he ended up with a really cramped environment or something and didn’t like it much thus jealousy and also other factors? Idk. Idk. But #anyway he quit that and works as a firespirit instead as kind of a law enforcement Ig and yeah pretty much tries to get Prismo in trouble #it doesn’t particularly work naturally #Orbo still doesn’t care etc etc #Scarab gets fired which was Not meant to be a pun but sure take it that way Ig bhdfbvjhdfbvhjbdfjhvbfdjhb lol #and at some point Prismo found out that Scarab is also a water spirit and is really confused because like. #Yeah without context that’s a little confusing sure Idk #Anyway this all pretty much goes like Fionna and cake does except Idk of F&C and all of that exist so really it’s more so just the Scarab #plot in a different situation without all those characters?? #Idk #also maybe Jake drowned at some point (Prismo wasn’t there and didn’t cause it) or something a while before #and Scarab has been busy but now he has time to get Prismo in trouble #maybe Prismo tried helping someone like this again or the environment thingy of his went into a little disrepair following the death #Idk dude this stuff is just vague ideas

When I first started in fandom, for whatever reason I decided making fankids was like… too cringe for me. Like that was the arbitrary line I drew of what was too deep into fandom for me.

Anyway, think of this when I post my fankid drawings later because they represent me surrendering what is left of my dignity and fully surrendering to the cringe.

#honestly a lot of this was just that my early fandom experience was being surrounded by people who were ONLY into their fankids #to the point where they barely cared about the canon characters or killed them off entirely #and I felt like then what even is the point of being here if you're like that? #and no judgement if you're OC obsessed it's just like I have a whole back catalog of original characters so I personally didn't Get It #but then I needed to create some for narrative necessity and i was like eh this might as well happen #but you'll notice even my fankid stuff is still fully from the pov of the canon characters bc they are the ones I care about most #but I understand the OC / fankid thing better now in that it's training wheels for a lot of people #and it's great a great way to test drive until you're ready to create a character from scratch #or for people who have no interest in making content to contribute to the fandom space by commissioning art of their little guys #or to play in the fandom space without the confines of canon by making it their own #so be cringe and free everyone and have fun #though I will forever think about the time someone joined one of the non-fandom writing servers #and asked why we didn't have a channel to talk about OCs #and we had to gently explain that we were all writing original fiction all of every single one of our characters were 'OCs' #fandom is really a different world sometimes

#dee p thoughts #overall review so far: pretty good. author's style is very distinct and potentially offputting/unhinged so I 1000% get someone not liking #this for that reason. theres a lot of food for thought to chew on among it so I enjoy it tho. but I do think the plot in terms of arcs and #how they tie into character development/progression can be very...fast and sudden? couldve used more time to make the progressions more #gradual and natural feeling imo which is where I think the anime expanding on scenes enhances this. ex: aki's care for power and denji is #very sweet but it also feels a bit sudden in terms of...well how to word this? like it ultimately MAKES SENSE but the turning point makes i #feel like his care stems from them almost dying reminding him of himeno as opposed to. caring about them afdadljbkndlkj- yes its establishe #that aki views denji kind of as a little brother but they couldve had the trio cook a little longer imo like at that point I dont really #feel aki has had much connection to power either tbh but...I get it I get why lol- #THO I WILL GIVE THAT THE SUDDENNESS FEELING MAY STEM FROM ME READING ~60 CHAPTERS YEAH. just like? denji's relationship with makima has mor #gradual progression than the trio's imo which makes sense but we should strengthen the trio bond for extra impacttt- #thinking deeper I do think aki has individual moments with denji and power has individual moments with denji so its probably the lack of ak #interacting with power that makes me feel the trio isnt fully baked lol. kind of just shown annoyance and then happiness at her not throwin #vegetables and now you dont want her to die I guess thats what makes me feel something is missinggg #which makes sense at the end of the day I guess? whats important is their relationship with denji not each other? but eh still I guess we'l #jot this down as a personal preference of mine
