Im sorry but i gotta ask, is ekward a bit akward?
LMAO HOW DID YOU KNOW?!
Yes, he is very socially awkward. He knows how to be a stone-cold knight who doesn't let any important information slip, but he does NOT know how to be much else lmao. He's trying, though.
And yes, I've made the "Ekward? More like awkward" joke for him.

Ekward, a common Royalist turned into the Right-Hand-Man of the Queen. Is he truly loyal to the Crown, though?

Do you have your own F/E (fictional enemy)?
I do! For Fallen Magic, the main villain is the Queen, Hortensia. However, I’ve added some twists to her, because “evil Queen” on its own is kinda boring.
If you want to hear about her, scroll down! If you don’t want to be majorly spoiled, don’t read below the cut.
Tumblr media
Hortensia is the eldest daughter of King Rown and Queen Melan, and has a younger sister Brigitta. The family was happy and the King and Queen were beloved, but soon after Brigitta turned eight, she became ill. Rown and Melan reached out to every healing in and out of Elubeth, finding only the best, exploring every option, but nothing worked. At nine years old Brigitta was bedridden and hardly ever conscious, and no one expected her to live much longer. The family was devastated, but Hortensia (fourteen) wasn‘t about to give up. The royal advisor and trusted family friend Weland assisted Hortensia in her search for a cure, and with his help she found an old book that had been forgotten in the library. It held countless cures within it, things she‘d never seen before, and she brought it to her parents immediately. However, they were not so excited about her finding.
They were struck when they saw the book, taking it away and asking where she found such a thing. They explain that the book contains dark magic, a magic no longer practiced because of its unnatural, unstable abilities. Dark magic is like a parasite that latches onto the user, corrupting them, and bringing out their worst emotions until thats all thats left of the person. Melan has the book destroyed and tries to comfort Hortensia, saying its just Brigitta‘s time, but Hortensia runs away.
Weland finds her and tells her about a place called the Klanstin Ruins, saying that an entity there might be able to assist her. He covers for her while she rides to the ruins, finding a destroyed and abandoned city lost to time in the middle of a beautiful meadow. It is here she makes contact with a strange entity, something she can hear, but not see. She explains why she‘s there and the entity agrees to help, but says she must help it escape the ruins it is trapped in. She agrees, allowing the entity to attach itself to her, and rides back to the castle. There, the entity explains the steps she must take to preform different spells, and she follows them. Within a week Brigitta is awake and even speaking more, and Rown and Melan consider it a miracle, as does all of Elubeth when the news gets out. Hortensia is ecstatic, but she feels like something is… wrong. She feels weaker, drained, and her skin is pale. As she continues to complete the spells from the entity, she feels worse, while Brigitta gets better. Its not until black veins appear across her face that she realizes how bad it is. She talks to the entity, saying she doesn‘t want to follow the spells anymore, but the entity refuses to give her up. It takes control of her, using her as a puppet whenever it chooses, Hortensia powerless to stop it. She becomes withdrawn and sickly, and as the entity no longer preforms the spells to heal Brigitta, she gets worse as well.
Rown and Melan are heartbroken as both of their daughters seem to be pulled away from them. Brigitta falls into a coma, and Hortensia is acting… different. She‘s more hostile, easy to anger, yet also quiet and withdrawn. They try to help, but she won‘t let them, and they don‘t know what to do. Weland says he has no idea what caused this, but he‘ll do his best to help. Then, one night, under the control of the entity, Hortensia enters her parents bedchambers and attempts to kill them both. She succeeds with her father and tries to cut her mothers throat, but Melan escapes out of the window. It is believed she died later on. With both parents gone, “Hortensia“ is next in line for Queen. It is a sad day when she it crowned, and the beginning of a deadly rule. She places laws against magic usage, eventually banning it altogether in certain areas, and begins having books on magic and its history destroyed. Some mages join her side, fighting alongside her mostly because they are given more rights and are allowed to practice magic under heavy restrictions, though they can only use magic to assist the Queen. Radical anti-mage groups rise, mages are imprisoned for no reason at all, while others are killed in the streets like wild dogs. Panic breaks out, which the new Queen stamps down on by issuing raids, having mages either killed, arrested, or pledging themselves to the Queen. Mages are wiped out by the thousands, those who survived going into hiding, fearful of their friends, family, and neighbors. Anyone can rat you out if your a mage. Others pledge their allegiance with the Queen and move to the Royal City. Mages in the Royal City are not allowed to practice magic, but they are somewhat protected, though those who are out as mages still face heavy prejudice from non-mages. Within only a year the kingdom has been devastated and divided, and still Brigitta sleeps. Hortensia, the part of her that hasn‘t yet been destroyed by the dark entity, continues to do what she can for her sister. Hortensia‘s eyes have turned an unsettling black, her hair limp and lifeless, but she doesn‘t feel as drained as before. The entity, which refers to itself as The Darkness, grows stronger as time goes on.
A rebellion is formed right under the Queen‘s nose, small at first but growing larger and stronger and including people from the Royal City, and even people from within the castle. One man, a cadet named Ekward, is working for the Rebellion and gives them whatever information he can. He‘s surrounded by hateful mages who feel as though they‘ve been forced to work for the Queen, and they take out much of their aggression on him. Despite being unevenly matched against people who have magic, Ekward wins every fight, and catches the attention of the Queen. Suddenly he finds himself being made her personal guard, constantly under supervision and heavy question. This position does allow him access to crucial information for the Rebellion, though he must tread carefully lest he be found out to be treasonous.
This is the time my story Fallen Magic takes place, though the main characters don‘t know about the Darkness or Hortensia‘s backstory.

i was scrolling through the knights tag and i saw Ekward and now im intrigued lol
who is this man?? whos the queen?? why wouldnt he be loyal?? whats the lore?? wheres the lore?? where can i see more of this man??
AAAAAA HI THANK YOU!!! I’m actually so happy you asked! 😂
Ekward is a character of mine I created for a book I’ve been working on— “Fallen Magic”. Here’s the short and sweet of it:
Ekward is a human knight who, to many’s surprise, gained the trust of the Queen, Hortensia. The Queen is a dark, vicious, evil woman who is in the midst of eradicating all mages in the kingdom. So, you know, she’s not a favorite. Unfortunately she has the kingdom of Elubeth in an iron fist, and any who oppose her are quickly struck down.
A secret rebellion is slowly doing what they can to take away the Queen’s power, and wouldn’t you know it, Ekward is a part of this rebellion. The Queen doesn’t know this, of course (she’s aware of rebels, but she has no idea how HUGE it actually is.) No one is quite sure why, not even Ekward himself, but the Queen has taken a liking to him.
As a rebel who also has the Queen’s trust, Ekward is in the perfect position to gain information to pass off to the rest of the rebellion. He’s also in a very dangerous position. If the Queen were to find out, he’d be tortured for information and killed.
The more time he spends with her, however, the stranger she becomes. She’s downright evil one moment, and then kind (albeit nervous) the next. Something is up, and Ekward is determined to get to the bottom of it. After all, it may be information that could lead to Hortensia’s downfall.
I’ve been working on posting more about my story and actually including lore lol. I’ve posted about Fallen Magic before, but most people don’t interact with those posts. If you’d like more, though, I will HAPPILY make posts for Fallen Magic in the future. The full story is still in progress and isn’t perfect, but I have a lot of the main plot in place! 🫶

can you share your favorite line of dialogue out of context? :)
Is it ok if I share my favorite lines of dialogue from something I’ve written? Cause I really like these dialogues;
John rubbed his chin, acting deep in thought, humming. “Well, I’m no good at this sort of stuff, really… What about fifty coppers?” The woman laughed so hard she almost choked on her own spit, head thrown back sharply.
“Fifty?! It’s nice, but not that nice! Tell you what; I’ll give you ten and we’ll call it fair.”
“Psh, only ten? I’ll admit fifty might’a been a bit high, but I’m sure you can go higher than that.”
The merchant huffed. “Fine, fifteen.”
“Thirty.” John replied. Behind him Blake rolled his eyes.
“Twenty!”
“Twenty-five. C’mon, meet in the middle; That’s fair!”
With a nasty scowl the merchant hung her head, defeated.
“Fine, we have a deal at twenty-five– If you throw in the horse.” She added with a cross of her arms, probably feeling smug. That actually worked out perfect for him and Blake, but he couldn’t act too excited, so he pretended to think about it. Blake glared at him, glancing between the horse and the woman rapidly.
“Ehhh… Alright fine, I guess you can take the horse, too.” He said, sighing.
“Perfect! I’ll count out the money.”
————
“And then?” John brushed his hands together to get rid of the dirt.
“Then we grab Robert and get outta dodge, is what I’m thinking. Of course we could always stay for tea, maybe some finger sandwiches–“
“I mean that this is your plan? This isn’t anything! It’s half-baked!” Adler yelled.
“Less than half-baked.” Blake chimed in. John rolled his eyes.
“Well then go ahead, make a better one. I for one haven’t had the privilege of being inside the castle but since you obviously know it so well–“
“None of us know what it’s like inside, that’s why we need Ekward’s help!” John stood up in a huff, glaring and flexing his fingers around the strap of his bag slung across his chest.
“Why don’t you go and chit chat with the bird’s then? I’m sure one of them will have Ekward’s contact information.” He said sarcastically.
————
(Does inner dialogue count?)
He hummed, re-reading it once or twice before setting it down and pouring another glass. He lived in New Jersey, a quiet suburban neighborhood, and he was supposed to go to Oregon because a paper told him to? It was ridiculous, laughable even! He drained the glass and poured one more, drinking it just as fast. He'd better get packed.

I have but a 2 questions for you to answer, the oc is of your choice:
1. Any signature items? A weapon, piece of jewelry or clothing that they use or wear on the regular
2. Any inspiration behind the character, doesn't matter how mundane it is, if you made the character because you really liked this one thing then heck yeah 👍✨
Eek! I love questions about my OCs 😆
The OC I’ll choose to use for these answers is Hanya- a half-human half-shapeshifter. Shifters are seen by most as nothing but animals, and half-shifters are hated just as much. Most shifters have been captured and made into nothing more than messenger birds who know almost nothing of life beyond their cages. Hanya, however, has seen the outside world, and has even made friends with humans. One in particular, Ekward, who is the Queens personal guard and apart of the Rebellion. He shows her kindness and friendship, and the two fall just a little bit in love.
Hanya has a small golden hairpin that she always wears. It’s from Ekward, and is one of the only gifts she’s ever received. She cherishes it and does her best to keep it in good condition. If it were to ever break or get lost, Hanya would probably break down a little. After all, that pin didn’t just represent a gift; It represented future freedom and happiness.
I really like the idea of shapeshifters, and while working to create a shifter character I made Hanya! I imagine she’s very level headed and is the only thing keeping Ekward from going insane while he pretends to be on the Queens side. She balances Ekward’s cold, unapproachable personality with her warm welcoming one. Ekward is in a dangerous situation, sending whatever information he find out about the Queen to the Rebellion, but Hanya helps him keep himself together.

Top 5 most and least dateable of your ocs? 😂
Ooo, interesting question!
I would say the five most dateable of my OCs are:
John: He has some issues, but despite how hotheaded he can be he’s actually done well with handling his problems. He likes to stargazing, eat sweets, and hike. He acts tougher than he really is.
Robert: He’s a sweetheart, with a quiet disposition, who loves to paint and listen to music. Overall a very good man who would listen to and respect you.
Mari: She’s kind, sweet, a little anxious, and a little nerdy. She loves baking, stargazing, and reading. Despite her kind persona, though, she’s a hell of a fighter with a drive to protect what she loves.
Tatiana: She loves singing and dancing, and has a fiery spirit to rival anyone else. She’s smart, cunning, and caring to those she’s close to. I think she’d be dateable, but you wouldn’t want to get on her bad side!
Andrew: He’s shy, clumsy, and doesn’t always think things through, but he cares about people deeply, and wants to do what’s right. He loves to write and learn about far-off places, and dreaming of traveling the world. He’s a hard worker with a heart of gold.
The least dateable of my OCs are:
Ekward: He has… a LOT of baggage, and frankly is a little unstable. That’s just what happens when you pretend to work for a psycho Queen when you’re ACTUALLY working with the Rebellion to take her down. He’s brash, a little rude, and pushes people away a lot.
Bella: She’s a good person, but she’s grown cold over the years. She’s distrustful, harsh, and quick to anger. She’s a loner who doesn’t like to work with others. She’s afraid that if she ever gets close to people again, they’ll be taken from her, just like…
Ebba: She’s a psychopath, what more do you need? She’s a sword wielding maniac with a thirst for blood who has no qualms about killing kids. Not a great date. Or a great person.
Anonymous: A good man who wants to help people, but he prefers to be alone. He’s on the move a lot and doesn’t want anyone or thing dragging him down. He’s not great with emotions or feelings.
Hortensia: She’s hateful and cunning, with a sadistic side that makes even the toughest person shudder. She hates people, she hates emotions, and she’s not interested in love. You’d be best staying far, far away from her.
Honorable mentions!
Blake: He’s just not interested in relationship. He likes people and loves his friends and family, but he isn’t one for romantic attractions.
Martha: She’s only ever truly loved one person, and she couldn’t extend that to anyone else. She’s not looking for anyone else.
