A Comprehensive List of my Thoughts on Elemental (STILL WITH SPOILERS!)
So here's the rundown I promised of my feelings toward Elemental
SPOILERS BELOW PROCEED WITH CAUTION!
The Good
The music--I found it memorable and unique; the main theme had soft vocalizations that felt almost ethereal, like it was an ancient hymn. I also found the song that played during the montage of Ember and Wade's dates catchy and fun. It was pretty great soundtrack imho.
The design of the world--I really loved how they creators took into account how all these different elements would move and interact in the city. It made the setting feel, for lack of a better term, more "real" to me. It also set up some of Ember's conflict as a Fire element living in a city that wasn't made with her people in mind.
The designs of (most of*) the characters--for the most part, the characters looked unique and, even better, they looked like average people (for lack of a better term) to me; call me a sap or whatever, but I've always preferred characters that have all the "flaws" of average folks than the ones that look like some iteration of "perfect," they just feel more relatable to me I guess. I also found it fun to see how design features such as "hair" were incorporated in the characters and how those same features varied between the elements. If there's one thing I can consistantly praise Pixar for it's for not being afraid to play around with design.
The animation---I loved how the characters moved and interacted in the world. The felt like living things and I appreciated that.
Wade and Ember are adults implied to be in their mid-to-late 20s--This is probably just a me thing, but I find it nice when I see shows where the protagonists aren't adolescents or barely-18 young adults going through some sort of coming-of-age scenario; there's nothing wrong with those kinds of stories of course, I just find them a bit boring and over-done myself. That and whenever I see films like that it always feels like they're insinuating that people over XYZ age can't be protagonists, so I tend to avoid them these days. On a related note, here are some other reasons why I like that Ember and Wade are adults: a) They both still live with their parents but neither of them is shamed or mocked for it--I've seen waaaay too many "comedies" that pick fun at the "25-year-old-living-in-their-mom's-basement" so I found it nice to not have to sit through that kind of "joke" again, b) Neither of them have got their lives "figured out" yet--Wade's gone through multiple jobs, and Ember's just begun to understand what she actually wants for her life--as someone who's gone through multiple jobs, earned 2 bachelor's degrees and is in the process of getting a master’s, and is still trying to make sense of their life, I found their struggles extremely relatable; it's nice to see adult protagonists be allowed to struggle with figuring out who they are and what they want to be, c) They're allowed to have fun and goof off--in a lot of films I've seen, the adult characters are always depicted as being so serious and "boring" it's nice to see adult characters actually have fun and enjoy life.
Ember' relationship with her parents, specifically her father--I found the interactions they had very sweet and moving; it made Ember's conflict between choosing to take over her father's shop or pursue her romance with Wade all the more relatable, imo.
How Ember and Wade's romance developed--it wasn't a love-at-first-sight kind of thing; they actually had to spend time interacting and getting to know each other before they fell in love--and most importantly, they showed us on the actual screen how/when they started to fall for each other. They went on dates, opened up to each other, fought with each other, etc--all the things that normal relationships have; while sure, there's still an aspect of "forbidden romance" to their relationship, it's more subtle and in the background than the trailers implied it would be. It also doesn't end with marriage and kids--they leave together for Ember’s internship and it’s implied that they’ve moved in together but that’s all; idk I thought it was nice that they could just be a couple.
The Bad
1. The blink-and-miss representation LGBTQ+ representation--I've gotten reeeeeeaaaally tired of how LGBTQ+ characters are treated in films; to clarify, there's a scene where Wade introduces Ember to his family and he introduces her to his youngest sibling, Lake (who is described as being nonbinary in supplemental materials) and her/them girlfriend, Ghibli. Lake's identity as nonbinary is a bit ambiguous in the film (Wade does refer to them as his youngest sibling, but that's all we get--without the tie-in material it's to mistake them for being WLW). Further, between them Lake and Ghibli have at most 2-3 lines in the entire movie--like I appreciate that us LGBTQ+ are being recognized and put in films, but I'm tired of all our rep always being the side characters that hold no weight in the story; I think they can start making shows with LGBTQ+ leads now, thank you.
2. Wade's fake death--I'm not a fan of having characters (and the audience) go through huge, life-changing events only to have the events "fixed" and everything be all hunky-dory again--imo, it's a cheap trick to manipulate the audiences' emotions at best, and at worst, it's a disrespectful act that not-to subtly implies that the audience "can't handle" seeing the characters go through heavy stuff. I'm a firm believer that if you're going to have your characters go through something as serious as having one die on screen you need to commit to it--you need to take it seriously, pulling a 180 and undoing all that development is cliche to the point of annoyance. Now, I'm not saying I wanted Wade to die, I'm not even saying that I think he should have stayed dead--what I'm saying is that I don't think there should have ever been a "death" scene in the film at all--there are plenty of other ways they could have had Ember realize her feelings for Wade/be honest with her father.
Mixed Feelings Section
1. Ember and Wade's designs*--it's not that they're terrible or anything, but they are a bit generic imo. In comparison to their family members and the background characters, they both have that "typical protagonist" look that I find a bit cliche
2. Wade's family being 'good' rich people who don't mind that Wade's in love with Ember vs Ember's father who spends most of the film being aggressively anti-water--I'm kind on the fence with this tbh; on the one hand, if both sides had been against Ember and Wade's relationship, I feel it would have put too much emphasis on the romance and taken away Ember's story as the child of immigrants, and it's not like Wade's family weren't bigoted at all--they threw plenty of micro-aggressions at Ember when she first met them; that being said I do have to side-eye how they made the ones more accepting of fire people Wade's rich, probably-descendents-of-the-founders-of-Element-City family and made the one most aggressively against water people Ember's immigrant-built-his-family-a-home-and-business-from-scratch father. Idk, it feels iffy to me.
3. Most of the Wade and Ember's interactions takes place within a week--As much as I felt that their romance was pretty well-paced, I can't deny that they still fell for each other very quickly--I get that the main plot point had set it up that they only had a week to fix the broken water-spill doors, but I don't know why it had to be a week; why couldn't it have been a couple of weeks or a month? It would have made a lot more sense both for the romance and the main plot, but I digress, I still found their relationship adorable.
4. The experiences of immigrants is homogenized--The culture of the fire people draws on a lot of different types of immigrants, the Irish, different Asiatic groups, maybe some Middle Eastern groups, etc--and while I appreciate that the story was about immigrants and experiences they share in common I also felt a bit iffy about taking all these different cultures and merging them together. I feel it would have been better they made the fire people's culture more of a unique entity than a combination of cultures.
Like I said before, I highly recommend this movie; it's cute and tugs at your heart-strings.

Maybe it’s just because there’s only so many ways to draw a type of thing, but I have seven thoughts about Elemental (2023) after watching it again lol.
1. It showcases a lovely balanced relationship between artists. Ember, of course, has an eye and hand for glass making, and Wade sees the potential and ability she has; how her light shines through to the world and him, figuratively and literally. Meanwhile, Wade’s way with words is more subtle, but really reaches in deep and converts visual art into emotion; it takes a good writer and speaker to convey feeling into accessible ideas. And Ember recognizes his talent, and lets it touch her.
They bring light into each other’s lives; without each other, they were fine and functioning and almost happy, but when they have the other, that’s just the icing on the cake.
2. The art style looks worse without motion. Both characters are constantly unconsciously moving in every shot; Ember flickers and Wade drips. Plus, the way light works with them and around them doesn’t translate well to a still image (especially with Ember; it’s hard to draw without outline, and I think it helped with visibility and stability on the screen, but in stills it looks awkward.).
A lot of fan art I’m seeing seems to struggle with this outline/still problem, again more with Ember than with Wade, but a lot of artists have added their own spin and style and made it work. I think the problem is directly related to how it’s difficult to capture water, fire and light ‘sources’ like the moon via photo. So if the art style for that particular aspect is turning you off, and you’ve only seen stills, I’d suggest you watch a bit of video or a good gif set (there’s already quite a few) before deciding whether it’s worth watching or not.
3. Speaking of art, this movie really reminded me of Studio Ghibli movies. Maybe there’s only so many ways to draw something, or maybe it’s just the Howl’s Moving Castle (both book and film) and Ponyo fan in me, but Ember for sure took a lot of visual inspiration from Calcifer, it’s the red outline and such, and Wade the waves from Ponyo. It was fun to see! Also tbh I saw some Dr. Seuss CGI movie shapes in their bodies.
4. Ember and Burnie breaking the cycle. When Burnie left Fire Land for Element City, he was following his dreams (and he even started enough of a trend that his whole neighborhood because a new fire town). But his Sad disagreed with him. As a last attempt at connection, Burnie bowed a Bok Sa (sp?), a very deep bow, to his father, to show respect and love. His Dad did not return the gesture, spurning his son and his dreams, and turned away.
When Ember leaves for the glassblowing internship, she performed a Bok Sa for her Dad (and it’s so intimate guys. Like it’s almost embarrassing to look at because it’s raw and passionate and I really admire the creators for Not restraining it). Burnie sees a chance to show his daughter that he loves her, and that he respects her dreams (despite his and Cinder’s sacrifice of emigration from Fire Land, which is a big theme in this movie), and so he holds back the hurt his father laid upon him, so many years ago. He does a Bok S- back. It’s wonderful. I’m not sure he would’ve done that at the beginning of the movie, but his love for his daughter won out in the end.
(I just wish that the mother-daughter relationship received a little more canon consideration as well, but I appreciate the movie for the relations it did focus on.)
5. The city fucks up in a big way, and of course it’s up to the people affected to solve it, at least in the short term. Despite water being a huge hazard and supposedly already gotten rid of in fire town, there’s still a water train that passes regularly and always displaces enough water to kill a fire person. And in terms of the dam, there’s so much bureaucracy that Gale (the city safety officer?) found it easier to (nearly) shut down a business than to get a health hazard (the broken dam) fixed.
And when Ember covers up the hole, she leaves it! Her tempered glass doesn’t get support, and it eventually cracks and floods Fire Town, nearly killing lots of residents and leading to Wade’s evaporation.
6. Feel free to add on but I’m surprised that no globe has really talked about the disability angle yet. I i afraid I don’t have enough experience being physically disabled to talk about it in a nuanced enough way but oh well. It’s there. The way the fire people needed different transportation (also there was a fire person in a wheelchair. How things that are safe for others could kill them (Cinder nearly died while carrying ember because a guy dripped on her, which is a thing that others would find mildly inconvenient). How Wade’s nephew casually mentioned that Ember could die if she stepped off her mobility aid (the floatie) and proceeded to mess with it. And of course the shame, embarrassment and fear of being excluded & discriminated against.
7. More Men Should Cry!!! It literally saved Wade’s life lmao.

I have missed the vast majority of the "cozy horror" discourse and like, I'm fine with that because I don't really care all that much about publishing labels and subgenres. But like, I do believe in only using the broad labels if it applies. A book is not Romance (the genre) if it does not have a happily ever after/happily for now. A book is not Horror if it is not trying to be horrifying. Romantic and horrific plots and elements can be part of any story and any genre, but elements do not a genre make.
Anyways, disclaimer done, the point of this post is that as someone whose main genre is fantasy, I love reading about ghosts in non-horror stories. Give me more fucked up creatures and musings on personhood please.

Jess Watches // Sat 23 Sept & Sun 24 Sept Synopses & Favourite Scenes
Deadloch 1x02 Episode 2
Eddie is vocally displeased about following Dulcie's theory about the murders. D takes matters into her own hands while E's behaviour grows more erratic.
The frequent use of the words "lesbian" and "cunt" often at hilariously inappropriate times. For example: D questioning a suspect and mid-interview getting called "lesbian" for no apparent reason; and E saying she would "cunt-punch" D so hard she could "second as a hand puppet." lmao
Killjoys (rewatching with friend) 1x08 Come the Rain
Westerly is put under lockdown when a wave of Black Rain hits. Pree's bar is held hostage and Johnny tries to keep everyone alive. On the ship, Dutch and D'avin work through a team-building exercise set up by Johnny.
My fav was the last scene of Dutch & Johnny in bed, him reading her his comic, which was super adorable. He even did voices too.🥰 In contrast, my friends fav scene was Johnny using the bolt gun to shoot the hostage takers.
Supernatural Academy (with friend) 1x10 Sins of the Father Part B
The school is on lockdown and the barrier has been reinforced, so the girls decide to hide in the bell tower above Kristov's study, where the protection spells are strongest.
Jae apologizing to Jessa for not bringing cake to their hideout. which I would really appreciate because I am Jessa in this situation lol. Always thinking about cake!
Elemental (with sister & her bf)
In a city where fire, water, land, and air residents live together, a fiery young woman and a go-with-the-flow guy discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common.
So bright and colourful. An animated romcom with some solid laughs and suprisingly deep tbh. The part about the city centre not being accessible for everyone is something I very much relate to. An easy Sunday afternoon watch.
Rugby World Cup 2023 (with sister's bf)
South Africa (2) v Ireland (1)
My sister's bf is South African and he was so excited but very nervous. He could not sit still and was very animated throughout. The lad was stressed! My dad kept cheering any time things went Ireland's way which didn't help. 😂
Wales (7) v Australia (9)
The work rate of Wales was immense. And with so many unforced errors from Australia the final score was inevitable. Also, my sister's bf was much more relaxed lol. "Poor Australia"

Decided to go watch Elemental myself even though so many people were trashing it. (The trailer didn't particularly sell the plot to me but hot damn I loved all the concepts and art so decided it was worth a cinema trip.)
By the gods. I loved it.
Like, I am SO surprised by how much I loved it. Still love it. I was pretty much brawling my eyes out the entire movie. It was so great.
Yeah, they had your obligatory romance plot. Yeah, they had the obligatory "I love you!" that felt hella empty. Yeah, the character designs had all the usual pitfalls of obligatory stereotypes.
But the characters themselves actually had very powerful connection and everyone had personality and damn I didn't think I would cry this hard for a children's film.
The concepts and worldbuilding and the way those things were weaved seamlessly into the plot was incredible.
Honestly, what's with the incredible entertainment this year. I've been so impressed by everything.

My thoughts on Elemental... (CAUTION: CONTAINS SPOILERS)
So, I went and saw Elemental with my twin over the weekend and I really liked it; granted, I wouldn't say it's ground-breaking or anything, but it was way better than I thought it would be--the trailers/marketing really didn't do the movie justice.
To clarify that last part a bit, the trailer (or at least the impression I got from it) kind of implied it would be an analogy for a (straight) interracial couple in a kind of "Romeo-&-Juliet-Their-Love-Is-Forbidden" romance. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that kind of story or anything, the "experiences of fantastical creatures used as stand-ins for real-life issues" and "guy-meets-girl=love" schticks are over-done (imo at least).
With that being said, the inter-elemental relationship between the two leads wasn't actually the main point of film. Sure, the romantic element (excuse the pun) does play a big role, but the crux of the story is about Ember Lumen (the fire elemental) and her experiences as... (SPOILERS AHEAD)
...the daughter of immigrants who came to the city build a better life for her and themselves.
It's this aspect of Ember's identity that moves the story forward not her developing relationship with Wade Ripple (the water elemental).
We see this throughout the film. It's Ember's beginnings that we're originally introduced to and it's Ember who we follow as she experiences being othered by a city that wasn't made with fire people like her in mind, respecting/retaining traditions important in her culture, and feeling that she has no choice but to take over her father's shop as a means to repay him and her mother for the tremendous sacrifice they made in leaving their homeland to build a life for the three of them in Element City. It's Ember's desire to do right by her parents, specifically her father, even if it means giving up her own wants/dreams that makes up the drama of the film.
This desire is also what creates conflict in her romance with Wade. The closer she gets to him the more conflicted she feels; she becomes torn between continuing to see him and honoring the obligations she feels she has to her father and their way of life. At first, she chooses her father and culture over Wade and (in a rather emotional scene) tries to end the relationship. They do end up together at the end however—I don’t want to spoil everything that happens between the scenes but I’m comfortable revealing that much.
All-in-all, I felt it was a pretty good show with a moving story and cute little romance. When I have a bit more time I'll make a more detailed post going over what I liked/disliked/had mixed feelings about, but for now I’ll just say that I thought it was good and leave it at that.

[9/300] The image so painfully absolute!
OK, I watched the new two episodes of it, and here's my take: Can we stop pretending the Velma show is worthy of any of the discourse surrounding it? It's just kind of a nothingburger of a show.
----
It's a Scooby-Doo spin-off/prequel of sorts. I understand that some people might have fond memories of previous iterations of the franchise, but that's the thing about a franchise; franchises, by their very nature, need to be flexible/malleable to play around with its key elements to some degree or another. "Wiggle Room", if you will.
----
I think that's what a franchise should be all about, especially if it's aiming to continue in a healthy way. And yeah, I know that doesn't sound fun or anything but I think it's what allows you to enjoy works of entertainment better. And again, treating pieces of entertainment as though they were some sort of sacred cow is not a healthy way to approach it.
----
So far, all 4 episodes of Velma are just mediocre fare, barring some occasionally inspired vocal performances and the art direction and animation being fairly solid and occasionally pretty to look at.
----
In my opinion (which of course might be dead-ass wrong) I think the fundamental problem of the show from which almost all of its other issues stem is that it's trying to compete with social media, which I'm certain we can all agree that it has no business butting heads with. I understand that they're trying to capture the attention of/appeal to the "terminally online" crowd, but the thing is that a lot of the appeal of internet content/humor is that it's incredibly fleeting.
----
Sure, not every piece of entertainment needs to be timeless (hell, for some? It actually works in their favor to function like a "snapshot" of sorts of the time it was made), but the problem is that a lot of internet content ages worse than milk left out of the fridge, and to crib off of that is fairly likely that the result will be the same.
----
The two biggest sticking points against it, in my opinion?
a) Meta: Self-awareness can be fun and if used sparingly at the proper moment , it can add to the experience in really unique ways. The show unfortunately tends to use it ALL. THE DAMN. TIME. And it kills a lot of the momentum for the show.
b) It feels incredibly indecisive. Like there's nothing wrong with alternating between tonal shifts in media, but so much of it feels like the writers' room was a mess, for the show wants to wear so many hats at once that it just ends up getting in its own way.
----
As it is now, I probably won't talk about the show in public going forward, as I've already had to ghost-write several reviews for it. It's just not a show that I think is worth talking about in as much length as it's been discussed, because at the end of the day, if the people behind the scenes didn't put in the work, why should we? For content? I already do that for my job(s), so read ya' later, alligator!

October 5 2023
I changed things up because it's got Frontiers Final Horizons Spoilers. I know the updates been out for like 2 months now but I'm being really cautious.
Tumblr media
Super Sonic was really fun to play in the base game, having the auto combo thing on and just seeing so much bombastic energy and over the top moves being thrown at giant titans was so much fun.
I did however, not read the instructions where they tell you to hold the parry, I thought it was a perfect timing thing like a normal parry. So fighting Giganto and Wyvern for the first time was a nightmare for me until I actually read the instructions. =v='
For the design, I didn't change much, Super Sonic is really cool. I basically just changed the green parts of his shoes to red to reflect his new eye color.
Tumblr media
Super Sonic² was so cool! The casual backhand slap, the sass, the move where he basically does the idw move, the finger point when he gets back in the game!
The only issue I had is that I didn't understand at all how to fight the final boss. I didn't 100% complete the map so I didn't get the hints. (I am still stuck on the stupid ball hoop map puzzle thing, I swear there is no way to do it) So unfortunately, I had to look up a guide. That kinda dampened the experience, but there was no way I was fighting Supreme over again, getting to the same glitch because I killed him too fast, and then fail the final boss fight again because I didn't know I was supposed to press r2.
I made his quills seem like they are turning into flames at the tips, I made his torso kinda have a sun symbol on it, I made his secondary fur white and his base fur/ quills bright yellow to kinda give it more sun imagery. His arm patterns are a little more detailed, his gloves have kinda formed into the body, making the cuffs look like they're on fire too. His socks turned into bandages and blue rings floating on him with the soles of his shoes kinda smoking on the back. It was a lot of fun interpreting this design differently, giving it a more ancient vibe with a modern twist. The original design is still really cool too!
Tumblr media
Cyber Super Sonic... one of the coolest forms in my opinion and yet we see him for less than a minute in only a cutscene. I'm not complaining, the cutscene was so cool! Me and my sibling were star struck when we saw it!
I love the Fleetway elements! The sharp teeth, the crazy eyes, the chaotic behavior that almost made it seem like if Cyber Super Sonic wasn't being literally shot out to his enemy, he'd not be able to tell between friend or foe! God, it was so cool!! Even if it was just limited to a cutscene where you can barely see the entire design in a single image!
I did actually have a static version of this image too, but I'm not including it because it gave me eye strain, and I don't want to hurt you.
For the form I actually decreased the amount of polygons on Sonic. If you look, he's more angular & simplistic and his legs and arms are rectangles! I thought it'd help give him more of a Cyber Computer vibe. I used the blue static and made it kinda an accent color so you can see where things are. I don't really know why, but I also made some parts of him detached? The inside parts have the white spirals that Cyber Super Sonic's eyes were.
The update was a lot of fun to play when it came out, even if it was EXTREMELY challenging for a casual player like myself. Almost made me quit a few times and a couple guides were begrudgingly looked up. Playing as Tails and Amy were definitely the highlights of the update for me though. I hope it was as much fun for you as it was for me. :)

It’s so hard not to squirm. Not to move as his hands slide over your stomach. Hand curved to the heavy roundness, groaning so sexily in your ear while his thick cock pulses inside your incredibly sensitive walls.
“Perfecto, cariño.” He moans, his raspy words shoot straight through you and making you clench around him even more, which just makes it even better for both of you as you are sat on his cock, heavy with his baby. “So sexy I might just keep you looking like this. Would you like that?” One hand stays on the swell of your stomach and the other slides up to gently cup a heavier than usual breast. He enjoys the way your tits have gotten bigger. He loves you like this.
That’s probably the biggest shock of your life. Javier Peña was never supposed to be permanent. You knew that the first time you took him to bed. The ex-DEA agent was not built for long term commitments, or so you had thought.
You had plenty of fun, letting him fuck you any and ever chance he got. The sex is amazing, if it had been slightly more demanding and rough than you were used to, you quickly go over that because of the mind blowing orgasms that you were experiencing.
The fun had come to a screeching halt when you had missed that period, six months into the thing you had going on. Javier would come over, sometimes eat with you - sometimes watch a movie - fuck the life out of you and often would stay the night, but he would never really be there the next morning.
Dreading every last second of that confrontation before you had it, you had expected him to want to discuss other options. To want you to get rid of it. You still don’t know what you were feeling back then beyond shock and fear.
So it had surprised you when Javier had stepped up. When he had sat for a moment, staring at the little test you had taken, along with the six others and the paper from the doctor confirming that you were expected, and then just nodding and saying “okay, you’re having my baby.”
That had been it in his mind. He hadn’t left after that day. He hadn’t resented you, he had turned into a practical sweetheart. Or maybe he had always been one, buried under the complicated layers that made him what he was.
The ring on his finger, signifying to the world that Javier Peña was a married man, is warm on your skin. His own claim on you is a surprisingly beautiful wedding set that had been his mother’s and he had been more than a little emotional when he had slid it on your fingers. You aren’t wearing them right now because your fingers are swollen. Just like everything else during this pregnancy.
“You like that?” His groan is so warm, the tickle of his mustache whispers across your stomach as he slowly rocks his hips up underneath you. Taking great care not to jostle you and still it feels like he’s so fucking deep that you can feel him in your throat. “Letting me keep you knocked up? Full of my little bebés? I would fucking love that.” He squeezes your breast gently, rubbing it as he ghosts kisses over your skin and makes your entire body hum in pleasure.
“Yes, baby.” You whimper, always loving the fact that dirty talk has been a progression of your relationship with Javi. Like finding the domestic things he does utterly charming, that element to your sex life has just made it remind you that this is permanent. “Love that. Keep me full.”
“Fuck.” His cock twitches inside you and you moan, the head pushing against that spot inside you that just makes everything burst with pleasure inside and he makes himself twitch again. “I would. Pop needs ranch hands. Dozen little kids running running around, driving us crazy.” He almost sounds wistful, like he’s really planning out your future. Your head tilts back and you turn to press a kiss to his jaw. “Yes, fuck, yes Javier.” You moan. “Want that. Love you.”
“I love you too, cariño.” He grunts, immediately kissing you back and deepening the kiss while his slow pace steadily starts to build. Wanting to fuck you a little faster than he had been and hoping that you will cum.
His fingers eventually leave your stomach, almost reluctantly so he can rub your clit. Obviously not wanting to let go of your breast to use that hand. It’s so funny how often his hand is on your stomach. Or how much he talks to the baby. You’ve even woken up to hearing him talking to them. Still unsure of what the sex is because you want to be surprised.
Javier loves you pregnant. The larger your stomach got, the sexier he found you. It was almost a good thing that your own sex drive had increased, because as big of a horn dog as he was before, he was almost doubly so now. It goes such a long way in keeping you from being self conscious about the changes to your body, the way he worships you.
“You need to cum for me.” He breathes, pulling away from your mouth with a sigh and his fingers are still pressing slow, shattering circles to your sensitive clit. Every pass makes your walls lock down around his cock and you get closer to giving him that orgasm he wants out of you. “Cumming is good to start your labor.”
You’re due. You’re actually past due by a day and the doctor had suggested sex to help things along. It had almost made you giggle, Javi huffing beside you when you admit that it probably wouldn’t help considering all the sex you normally have.
“Gonna cum.” You pant quietly, leaning back against him and closing your eyes. Feeling your body building up to that wonderful peak. His skilled hands and his cock making your entire body ache in the sweetest way possible.
“Do it.” He orders, biting down on your ear and you know that he is close. He’s always biting when he’s about to cum himself.
It doesn’t take long, not with him scrubbing so perfectly inside you and your sensitivity  already so high. Another few swipes of his fingers, another few rocks of his hips and you are cumming for him, round belly jostling as you shake on his lap.
It’s almost endearing how quickly Javi cums after you do. Pushing deep and letting you hear your name fall from his lips, choked out as he fills you with his warmth. Like he had just been waiting for you to cum before he did. Rocking you both through your pleasure until you are body sweaty and breathless, his softening cock still nestled inside your cunt, twitching when your walls spasm in an aftershock.
His chuckle is warm, making you smile lazily as you lean back against him. “Never say I don’t love you pregnant, cariño.” He murmurs softly, his hand back on your stomach and caressing it lovingly again and huffing in amusement when the baby kicks it.
No, you can never say that. Javier Peña has been a surprisingly delight, loving you being pregnant.

seldom did visitors grace the presence of the hydro dragon.
adorned with shimmering scales that reflected the hues of the deepest ocean, piercing violet eyes that sparkled like the shiniest amethysts, and hailed as one of the strongest sovereigns of the world– his reputation preceded him. thus, the hydro dragon chose to live in seclusion in the salacia plains.
time worked differently for a being such as him. in a momentary lapse, the hydro dragon had shut his eyes for what he thought was a brief respite, only to be roused by the gentle murmur of bubbling water. as his eyes fluttered open, he remained unaware that several years had slipped away during his tranquil slumber.
with seemingly no fear at being in the presence of the hydro dragon, a beautiful oceanid floated before him, blowing bubbles in his direction. twirling around him, the oceanid radiated a warmth that the hydro dragon could not resist. drawn by the mesmerizing glow of his scales, the oceanid came closer.
the hydro dragon sat up in his full form, extending his wings and towering over the oceanid, gauging its reaction. he knew he was terrifying like this. the oceanid did not flee in fear, rather, gazed up at him in amazement and wonder.
"what is your name?" the hydro dragon asks.
you offer it to him, easily.
days turned into nights into years as the hydro dragon finally had someone to call his companion. you followed him everywhere he went, offering him countless condessence crystals on your trips, "because it resembles your eyes."
with time, the hydro dragon had discovered a love that transcended ordinary within you.
fate, as cruel as it could be, had other plans. the heavenly principles had descended to wage war against the seven sovereigns. the hydro dragon urged you to stay away, to not get involved. yet, you refused, promising that you would never leave his side.
the heavenly principles, having sensed the unconventional bond between the hydro dragon and his oceanid, instantly killed you before the hydro dragon could even think to intervene. dying in his hands, you apologized.
"hydro dragon, hydro dragon, don't cry," you murmur, placing one last condessence crystal in his palm.
filled with agony and rage, the hydro dragon unleashed his elemental fury upon the heavenly principles.
still, it wasn't enough. he couldn't save you, he couldn't avenge you, and now, he was to also perish by the hands of fate.
as he lay dying with the condessence crystal in his hand, he wishes to see you again one day. in a world that is kinder, and more forgiving for a soul as beautiful as yours.

500 years later.
the stars are keeping you up tonight.
ever since furina had given up her position as the hydro archon and the prophecy was deemed to be untrue, you had felt a shift within yourself that you could not really explain. when you had been enveloped by the water of the primordial sea, you had felt... at home. tranquil, even.
fontaine's winter festivities were in full swing, and the city's lights twinkle slow as children zip past you through the streets. red and green decorations are adorned on every wall and lamp post. you raise a hand to catch a delicate snowflake– rarely did snow ever reach fontaine, but it was a welcomed change for the season.
you shiver, pulling your coat closer to your neck. it was probably reckless to be out this late when the night was this chilly, but you just couldn't shake the feeling of having to be out here. something was pulling you here, but you didn't know what.
"good evening," a voice calls your name and you startle, hand over your heart. you turn to meet piercing violet eyes and an easygoing smile, one that you meet sheepishly.
"good evening, monsieur neuvillette," you answer, inadvertently straightening your posture.
"i thought it was you i saw..." neuvillette trails off, clearing his throat. he gestures up to the palais mermonia, quite a ways away. you tilt your head in bewilderment.
"you could see me from there?"
"well, not at first," he answers, lightly tapping his cane on the floor. "you could say it was instinct, perhaps. i cannot find the words to really explain it, but it had to be you."
you would be lying if you said that one of the reasons as to why you had felt so on edge since the flooding didn't have anything to do with neuvillette.
as a geoscientist investigator for the marechaussee phantom, most of your interactions in the past had been strictly professional in solving cases and exonerating or indicting those on stand. after the failed prophecy, neuvillette had begun to seek you out for casual conversation. of course, you welcomed it. you were easily drawn to him, like a moth to a flame.
something about the way he had interacted with you since then with a longing gaze in his eyes had you feeling as if he knew something that you didn't.
it did not do any favors to your heart. he was a gorgeous man with a kind and respectful personality to boot.
you shouldn't get this excited about him finding you, but your blood thumping in your ears betrays you.
"ah- i see... it's funny you say that, because, well- likewise," you manage to say, flustered and feeling the urge to bolt on the spot.
neuvillette smiles at you, nodding toward the brightly lit street. "would you take a walk with me?"
speechless, you nod. what would fontaine think seeing you strolling around town with neuvillette this late at night, shoulders so close?
"there are a few stands around with festive goods and the likes. there's actually a..." you pause, a sudden memory making you laugh, "a water taste-testing booth made by your fanclub. would you want to check it out?"
neuvillette's eyebrows raise in amusement. "it would be my pleasure. i had not even been aware i harbored a fanclub."
you absentmindedly lean closer to his side, "well, you are quite popular among fontainians, monsieur neuvillette. many of them admire you for everything you have done for fontaine."
"and what about you?" his eyes meet yours expectantly.
you're caught off guard by his teasing. ears burning, you focus your attention on the path. "well, of course, i do too," you mumble. you can't see it, but he smiles.
a brightly lit booth in blue finally comes into view. its banner reads, "water around the world!" with a small, cute drawing of neuvillette's face in the corner.
"surely that's breaking a law in copyright infringement?" you joke.
"the oratrice would surely find them guilty," he nods, and you cannot suppress your laugh.
"hello, and welcome to- monsieur neuvillette?!" the teenager running the stand jumps out of her seat at the sight. she sputters, waving her hands around frantically. "it- it's so nice to see you, monsieur! are you interested in trying out some of the water we've collected?" her outburst spawns members of neuvillette's fanclub whispering excitedly behind her, to your amusement.
"i would be delighted to, along with my companion, if you would be so kind." he gestures to you, and it is only now that the fanclub seems to notice you. a few of them audibly gasp, and you already feel the dread of having your name front and center on the steambird come tomorrow morning. "monsieur neuvillette and the esteemed geoscientist: on a late-night excursion?"
they're quick to place multiple cups of water in front of you. respectively labeled cider lake, samudra coast, dadaupa gorge, sal terrae, and the suigetsu pool. neuvillette takes the one from cider lake, swirling it, and taking a leisurely sip not unlike wine. he hums, encouraging you to take your sip as well.
as you go down the line, truthfully you cannot tell much difference between them all. but, your heart warms seeing neuvillette take this very seriously, to the delight of his fanclub.
"did you like them?" you ask as you both depart from the booth, truly curious.
neuvillette nods, a smile on his face. "they all tasted quite fresh."
you cannot repress your own grin at his honesty. "i'm glad, monsieur neuvillette."
as the snow gets heavier and the night turns darker, booths begin to shut their lights down with people scurrying back to their abodes. you get the occasional double take at being with the chief justice, of course.
you watch neuvillette as he slows to a stop to stare up into the sky. delicate snowflakes fall into his long hair and eyelashes, and yet he seems completely unbothered by the cold. he's beautiful.
you heart suddenly aches in a way that feels like the breath has totally escaped you. the feeling is so unknown that you wonder if this moment is even real at all.
you'd had nightmares about it that you didn't dare tell a soul, of how you had died once. it was impossible- unfathomable.
but if it was, then how could you vividly remember in your last moments the feeling of being held by warm, protective hands?
neuvillette is already looking at you when you come to, like he knows.
"maybe we should call it a night." your voice is thinned.
neuvillette takes a step closer. "may i?"
you can only nod, breath hitching. he's standing closer than how he usually allows himself to be. you move, but one of his hands lift to gently cup your cheeks.
instantly, tears begin to well up in your eyes. his touch feels so familiar. "i'm sorry," you whisper.
with his free hand, neuvillette unclips the brooch at his neck and places it in your hand. seeing it up this close, your eyes widen.
"this is a condessence crystal."
neuvillette's eyes meet your own. he closes both of your hands around the crystal, and you see white.
"what is your name?"
"it resembles your eyes."
"i love you."
"i won't ever leave your side."
"don't leave me by myself."
"hydro dragon, hydro dragon, don't cry."
your knees suddenly grow weak, but neuvillette is quick to catch you.
your mind is running at a thousand miles a minute, swirling with questions that repeat themselves in your head, what is wrong with you, what is wrong with him, what is wrong with fate.
"so it is real," he finally says, eyes so solemn yet relieved. his words, resolute and cutting, make you still.
"i– what is?"
"us."
you didn't realize that you needed to hear it from him to finally understand. his eyes are darting across your face, trying to get a read on your expression.
"ever since i was given my authority back on the day of the prophecy, i remembered everything of our past life together, traversing across the seas of the teyvat," he explains, thumbing a stray tear that escaped your eye.
“for a long time, i wondered why i had this when i was reborn into this form,” he squeezes your hand with the condessence crystal, “and then it all made sense.”
"i remember now too," you say, "neuvillette, i remember."
this world is much kinder for a soul that is as beautiful as yours.
"would you give it a chance?" he asks.
"why, neuvillette?"
"because i know," his beautiful eyes don't falter from your own. "i know of the one life i spent where i lost you."
the chill that runs up your spine is not from the cold.
"and now, i have finally found you again."
you don't know who moves first, but his lips are on yours in the next breath you take. you are anguished, confused, happy, at peace.
even in the snow and the pretty lights, all you can see is him.
