a more coherent timeline of events for minestrone soup 

see this post if you’re confused about why i’m posting about soup on a whump blog (or the wiki) 

again, this got long because there is so much to unpack here so I’m using a readmore

thinks of himself as naïve and stupid at the start, because when he was first created he was devoted to his master

his master didn’t care for him and only used him to kill ‘fallen gods’ for money, which hurt and scarred him but he did it happily anyway because it was for his master

even though he was doing everything his master wanted him to do without complaint, hurting himself in the process, his master never praised him and only berated him for not being good enough

The master told minestrone that he had ‘dreams of saving the world’ but would first start with the island, but that was a lie to get minestrone to comply in getting him more money (by selling the “fallen gods”)

The master betrayed minestrone by sending him out to kill a fallen god, and when minestrone returned, he was caught in a trap and taken away by evil cultists, which his master had sold him to 

When he was first caught, he thought his master would come and save him, but then he found out that it was his master who had set this up

He was taken to some place and put in a cage and kept in total darkness for a few years, during which he tried to escape several times, but each time, he was caught and sentenced to ‘severe punishment’ meaning torture

was drained of blood and kept weak

resisted fiercely, rebelled, and was defiant for his first few years, which lead to him being tortured more and also mocked for being a “beast” 

he stops rebelling after the first few years and decides to comply, which makes the torturers think he’s given up, but he’s actually biding his time and trying to think of a strategy for how to get out of there

he was taken out of the dark cage and brought somewhere else due to his behavior of now calmly accepting their torture, except precautions were still taken and he was put in a straitjacket

by complying for so long after this and not disobeying once, the cultists there tell him the purpose of why they're doing all this: to create a god from his body (but they need him to volunteer for it and have him be willing)

knows he needs these people’s full trust to leave this place alive, that’s why he volunteers to be a subject in their experiment of trying to make him into a god

the attitude of the people toward him improved, he got better sustenance, but they still hurt him because they needed to draw blood from his heart now, which was incredibly painful for him

the cultists made clones of him to test their experiments on, so they wouldn’t destroy the real food soul before they got the method right

he gouged out his own eye in order to disguise as one of the clones (the cultists were able to tell the real food soul apart from the fakes because they would gouge out one eye from each clone)

the real Minestrone gouged out his own eye, gave it to a replica so it could pretend to be the real one, and Minestrone could pretend to be a fake, which would be discarded after the experiment (his escape)

was experimented on and turned into a “monster” 

After he escaped, his body was heavily injured and he had to spend a lot of time recovering 

Body and soul were irreparably damaged and he now has to feed on suffering and negative energy, which causes great harm to those around him, even a cataclysmic event leading to lots of deaths (he has to feed off this suffering in order to live)

the people he was rescued by after escaping the experiments are now afraid of him and try to get rid of him

ran away from the people who had rescued him, went in a cave to hide, found himself a plant called the ‘flower of evil’ that generates negative emotions by creating nightmares, used as a mechanism for hunting so that prey will die in a nightmare. The flower “tempts him with revenge” which he accepts, even if it means he will have nightmares every night (it generates enough negative energy through the nightmares so he can survive without hurting others) 

goes back to his home island and kills literally everybody there for revenge

is listed as a war criminal 

all of this happening to one fucking character

anyways in game (I MIGHT BE A LITTLE WRONG ABOUT THIS...) Abigail (I THINK) will attack things even when calm if they are aggressive and Wendy is still close to the threat (or at least it feels that way when I play Wendy lol) and Abby won't stop or try to avoid attacks like a couple other mobs do (pigmen, merms, bunnymen, maybe some more.)

so the context is that the deerclops came to attack during the winter and of course, Abigail, full of violence, is attacking and ignoring the fact that it is about to attack her. She knows this, but still ignores it because she doesn't mind getting hit and possibly "dying" again since she knows she can be brought back easily (She doesn't really like dying because it upsets Wendy, but at least she'll have helped distract and take down the deerclops, which will benefit the survivors and thus Wendy) (Also she lacks a sense of self preservation)

Jack does not want either of his daughters to be harmed, even though Abigail is dead. So, after trying to tell Abigail a few times to back away from the deerclops and her not noticing (Too focused on violense) he decides to run forward and pull her/pick her up and move her out of the way of the Deerclops' attack (Ghosts are corporal at will and to biological things and their attacks) ...which results in him getting stabbed instead.

He doesn't really mind this outcome. Abigail is safe now, which is much more important to him than his own health and life (He also lacks a sense of self preservation) (I really like to headcannon Jack as having traits Abby is shown/implied to have, bc of how Wendy and Maxwell have quite a few things in common in the cannon)

Abigail, however, does not like the outcome of her father being stabbed. Wendy and her mother Kathrine also do not like this outcome. Maxwell is especially unhappy about the fact that his brother has been stabbed.
