“What was that, James?” you ask, looking up from your food at the man in question. His mouth was stuffed full of food so it was no wonder that you didn’t understand a word he said. 

“Chew your food first, James,” Remus scolds as Sirius laughs at James’s hilarious appearance, jabbing at his shoulder with a finger before quickly returning to his own plate of food. 

“This is the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted!” James finally praises after chewing through his mouthful and swallowing, “I didn’t know chicken could taste so good!” he continues as you smile humbly, trying to restrain your ear-to-ear grin and making your cheeks hurt. 

“James is right,” Sirius agrees with a lick of his lips, “just wow! You’re such a good cook and this adobo is addicting!” knowing that Sirius grew up eating very refined dishes from the renowned gastronome of french cuisine, his flattering words filled your heart with warmth and pride. You were nervous to cook for them at first but they begged and pleaded with you, insisting on the basis that they wanted to know more about your culture. Naturally, food was the first thing you thought of. Now, you have a feeling that they would be begging you to cook Filipino cuisine for them weekly, maybe even multiple times a week.   

“If you think that’s good, you guys need to try this pork dish…” Remus looks towards you with a pause that you are quick to pick up on. 

“It’s called Lechon Kawali,” Remus thanks you with a smile and a nod before continuing. 

“The brown sauce goes so well with it too,” the brunette continues, dipping a pork piece into the sauce and humming in content from the flavour that explodes in his mouth. It’s such a new but pleasant taste that he becomes a little upset that you didn’t cook for them sooner; such recipes needed sharing and wider recognition.

“Thank you,” you giggle, realising that Remus had abandoned his utensils in favour of eating with his hands, only using his spoon for the rice when balancing out the flavours. 

“If you’re gonna suggest that then save some for us, Moony,” Sirius whines upon looking over and realising that Remus was making good progress on eating up the lechon.

“You snooze, you lose, Padfoot,” it was rare to see such flagrant delinquent behaviour from Remus that even James stopped eating before laughing loudly. 

“Good food really is the way to a man’s heart,” James chuckles, eventually settling on staring at you adoringly from across the table. 

“Very true,” Remus agrees without opposition and gives a casual shrug.

“After this, I might have to go and buy a ring, huh, Dollface?” Sirius winks at you and, for once, you can’t tell whether he’s being playful or earnest. 

With a racing heart, you stand from the table and slowly back away to the kitchen, “h-how about dessert?” your suggestion immediately makes their eyes light up, “There’s Bibingka and Turon,”

Sirius smirks, eyeing you up and down, “sounds delicious, dollface,”

oh of course! i'll put it under the cut so i can talk about nationalities too. nothing on earth could compel me to imagine them all british.

my barty is balkan! i feel really strongly about this one... i see him as croatian, which in canon-times would make him yugoslavian. i think he's filipino on his mother's side though!! but without a strong connection to his culture on that side because of his dad :(

my rosier twins are egyptian but i also enjoy the headcanon that their family immigrated to the czech republic when they were ~13

james is desi, the black brothers are mixed korean (just like meee), lily is distantly polish, and remus is insanely german <- real ones will remember the berliner remus era of this account.

Marauders ethnicity headcanons 🗣️

Sirius Black and Regulus Black

Both French, they moved to London when Sirius was 11 and Regulus was 10 so they could attend Hogwarts, and so their parents could see the rest of their family who had moved a couple years prior (the black family is french but they were British about a thousand years ago, and it is tradition for all the children of the family to attend Hogwarts and not Beauxbatons)

Both of their first languages are french, and Sirius especially had a strong French accent when he started Hogwarts (doesn't really have it now)

James potter

Half Indian, half Guatemalan. They're one of the only poc pureblood families in the UK, and they are also considered blood traitors by majority of the families (in the same way the Weasley's are) unlike the Weasley's they are incredibly rich

James speaks both English, Spanish and Hindi but not as well as his parents would like him to (he also knows some other parts of different Indian languages from some of his mum's plethora of extended family)

sirius was laying down, his head rests snugly on remus' hips. how long they've stayed together like that, he can't tell.

probably a long time though, considering remus flipped through half of the book he's been ogling at--

and it's made sirius jealous, that this paper object has had this much of his lover's attention more than him. (he'll never say)

remus stays firm, his head bowed to the book residing next to sirius' head. he barely spares a glance towards sirius and stays in his humble silence, thoroughly occupied with his read.

sirius mumbles.

"reeeemus, c'mon," he pokes the book. then his arm holding it, and pinches his cheeks, earning a sigh from the brunette.

"c'mooon, please remus ? pass the chocky sticks. they're so good," sirius does his best doe eyes, scrubbing his eyes to further elicit a wet, shiny effect.

he was damned trying so hard, and it made remus giggle. it made remus smile.

"sirius black," he props the book down with a hand, and the other occupying the raven locks of sirius between his fingers, interlocking them in a careful coupling manner.

he leans down, his eyes locked with the gray ones below him. he licks his lips, and smiles, and reaches down.

sirius' hearts skips a beat, and closes his eyes. remus was close, oh so close. his breath grew warmer and warmer, and his heart thumped louder.

just an inch before their lips meets contact, remus nudges his head to his left and whispers,

"go get them yourself, love."

sirius screams.

"YOU'RE SO MEAN-- I was literally expecting a kiss and now you betray me!"

remus laughs. he laughs so lightheartedly it makes sirius flinch, in a good, "i want to keep making you laugh everyday" jump.

"love, you've laid on my legs for 3 hours. i'm beat. if there was a surefire way to make sure someone couldn't walk that's not sex, this would be it."

"yeah but like... you know you should've told me, right? fine i'll get them."

"yeah, but... i didn't want to disturb your rest."

he hated remus' words and much as he loved them. oh how his lover's genuineness could cause him grief and the death of his heart.

the wafer chocolate sticks were stacked on the other side of the room, hidden under the floorboards. they were the group's favourite treat, and sirius made sure there were some to go by before all was ravaged. (he learned how sneaky james was at times)

he props back down next to remus, who was busy looking at him. the same intent look he had with the book had transferred to him, and it made sirius smirk.

he props the cylindrical stick to his mouth, and almost like a cigar he holds it and bites.

"can i have one?" he pleads.

"yeah sure," he bites, a short one sticking out of his mouth. "but know i'm still mad for the kiss so you can get them by yourself."

"that's fine. i have all i need here," he holds sirius' face, firm and warm hands envelop his skin.

remus was kissing him. it was the way he liked remus best; sweeter than that of which the chocolate tastes. warmer than the hands that hold him. and beautiful, gorgeous, oh so pretty than anything he's ever laid his eyes on.

he swells when their kiss stops. he gasps, and noticed remus was munching.

"you took my chock-stick."

"yeah, it's good."

"and who's really lazy, here ?"

"you, you merely transferred it to my legs. besides, i liked it best when it's half-kissed from sirius black."

"ugh, just ask for the jar next, remus."

remus laughs.

sirius joins, and laughs.

English (everyone), Urdu (James, Effie, Monty), French (Regulus, Sirius, Pandora, Evan), Mandarin (Regulus, Sirius), Spanish (Barty), Filipino (Marlene) and Welsh (Remus, Lily)

English is their first language, and different people would only speak a certain language to the kids. (E.g Barty only spoke Spanish) and languages got introduced one at a time, so by the time Luna and Harry went to Hogwarts they were mostly fluent in all of them
