I know Fritz is a popular headcanon first name for Medic, but I need you all to know the objectively funnier headcanon is that his name is Friedrich which is what Fritz is short for and Medic just lets everyone on the team call him Fritz so they don't butcher the pronunciation.

So I have this character.

He only exists within the realm of a roleplay between @redwingedwhump and I where poor Harold Nightley gets stolen away from the battlefield by a vampire intent on using him as bait to coerce Yves into giving up the secret of his seemingly endless immortality, and Harry ends up said vampire's, uh, let's say unwilling guest and prized possession.

So there's a servant in the house who befriends Harry, hesitantly at first and then with firm loyalty. A young man sold by his parents to vampires as a child, raised as a blood doll and eventually won by a different vampire in a card game, where he is quite happy to be a servant.

His name is Friedrich.

He ends up dying due to having helped Harry, murdered before Harry's eyes as a punishment, left to slowly bleed out from a gut wound with Harry forced to watch it happen.

Then he is turned into a vampire, brought to England in the middle of WWI, and discovers a whole countryside town more or less willing to just call him Freddy and fold him right into the community as though he always belonged there.

And I have been thinking about him all day. Finding a family in the midst of what he has been told is the Enemy, taught how to be a vampire without causing suffering, and going from having never gone beyond a few blocks in Berlin to wandering meadows and fields and befriending sheep.

S3 Edwina could be so interesting! She became a traumatised jaded young woman in s2 who doesn’t believe in love or happy endings. So she goes into the new season with a cynical mindset: she’s there to find a husband, not love. This is an arrangement of convenience, devoid of emotions. She’s also more guarded and detached because the lies in s2 eroded her trust in people and her self-confidence. So Edwina second guesses everyone and herself “are they lying? Am I just too blind?” There’d be this ambivalence between Edwina not believing in love but deep down hoping it’s true.

Enter the prince, who’s been burnt as well but his aunt insists he meets Edwina (queen Charlotte would be a HUGE shipper). He does and it’s love at first sight for him. He’s mesmerised by her and her sarcastic quips (she’s much more open about what she thinks now). But something’s holding her back. Cue the prince being very supportive, patient, attentive etc. Edwina’s baffled and misunderstands everything he does (which could be very funny). What are his ulterior motives? Does he see her as a game? Why would a prince want her? Edwina would suppress her feelings to not get hurt even when her family tells her there’s love between them. But she can’t believe them yet.

What I’m saying is slow-burn Prince Friedrich x Edwina, heart-eyes Friedrich, repressed feelings, tension, library dates (library gift scene Beauty and the Beast-style), BOOKS, clueless Edwina, frustrated Friedrich, Edwina learning to love, big romantic declarations, Princess Edwina.

Oh, look what we have here! Carl Friedrich Gauß keeping it cool in his Thug Life glasses! Thank you for sending him to me, I do have to say that I am quite partial to putting ye olde glasses on historical figures.

It looks like ths Gauß is a sticker and has been put to good use safeguarding a notebook or similar item employ'd by its owner in the pursuit of similar mathematical greatness? If this be so, I hope that Gauß's genius will guide you through the rough tides of exams and homework!

Do you have a special liking for, or interest in Gauß and his work from a mathematical, or historical perspective? Personally, I was not aware of the fact that two of his sons emigrated to the US and became wealthy businessmen, with the first brother leaving for America following a fallout with his father.

More inclined towards the ancient and modern languages, art, history and the belles lettres, I was never one captivated by the study of maths and physics throughout my secondary school career, until, flipping, bored, through my physics textbook in class one late afternoon entrapped in the classroom for the last lesson of the day, I discovered the image of a beribboned and bewigged beau-- and this is how I discovered my interest in early modern history thanks to Christiaan Huygens smiling at me. I don't think that the aim of my textbook was to help me discover my partiality towards men in wigs, lace and ribbons, but here we are.

...Little did I know then that one day, I would struggle through a diary written in 17th century Dutch, by Huygens's brother Constantijn, in order to find of which one of their nieces was responsible for making a King of England giggle during a church service:

I am once again going insane over Giulio Cesare in Egitto. Mostly its libretto. God.

Cornelia's almost melodic recitative breaking up Curio and Cesare's very rhythmic conversation, especially when saying "Da pace all'armi"? The sudden rise of Achilla's "questa del gran Pompeo superba testa" followed by a return to the calmer recitative from before with "di base al regal trono" because he thinks he did nothing wrong?

The whiplash between "Svegliatevi nel core, furie d'un alma offesa, a far d'un traditor aspra vendetta!" and "L'ombra del genitore, accorre a mia difesa e dice: a te il rigor, figlio, figlio, si aspetta"? The entirety of "Alma del Gran Pompeo"??

The tension in the rise and fall of Nireno and Cleopatra's "Troncar fè Tolomeo il capo... / Ohimè! di chi? / Del gran Pompeo" and later "Che gli mandò? / L'esanimato volto"?? The absolute clash between the melody and lyrics of "Tu sei il cor di questo core" that combines somewhat apologetic and tender-sounding lyrics with loud threatening music? And I think there's a musical Dies Irae reference in there? The first word of Cesare and Tolomeo's arias about each other being "l'empio"??

The absolute rawness of the line "L'aure che spira tirano e fiero egli non merta di respirar"? The melody of "Vanni son i lamenti" as Sesto announces his desire for revenge and "Sappi, perfido monstro" after he fulfils it being the same?

The climax of "Son nata a lagrimar" mirroring Cesare and Cleopatra's "verá" through harmony in the final duet, comparing the separation of act 1 with the reuniting of act 3? Tolomeo yelling "Sveglia! Sveglia!" in Cornelia's face after "svegliare" being established as basically Sesto's word in "Svegliatevi"? And Sesto's being a prayer and request while Tolomeo's is an order???

I've gone ahead and circled every artist who appears somewhere on a playlist I've actively listened to within the last year, even though for most of them it's only a song or two. The only ones I've listened to more in depth are My Chemical Romance and Harry Styles (and while I haven't listened to any of Billie Joe Armstrong's solo stuff Green Day was my 2nd most listened to artist on spotify last year).

David Bowie gets his own square on my bingo card to give credit to the CD that's in my grandma's car, which doesn't have an aux port, that I've listened to on loop for three and a half hours while I took the car from my parents's place to mine so I don't have to rely on the ÖPNV to get to my finals bc those were on strike. Technically he shares that square with Iron Maiden, which is my brother's favorite band and the other CD in my grandma's car.
