Dp x Dc AU: That one episode of teen titans where they all dress up as Robin + Tim being a gremlin about his legacy + Danny look alike/twin AU.

So there is that episode of Teen Titans where Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven all dress as Robin (Dick) while he's out and it's admitted that the outfit makes them feel cool. Imagine a young Tim hearing that story mentioned in passing by Dick while trying to manage what becomes Young Just-us. And then when Damain becomes Robin?? Gremlin mode activated.

Tim hosts regular 'Robin' Parties, where the idea is that you come in Robin colors, get a mask at the door and everyone gets to basically hang out in civilian clothes without the identity crises for those just getting started. "age appropriate" drinks, games, and good music are all staples. The parties become more frequent once Damian becomes Robin and he pointedly doesn't attend Tim's parties which... Neither of them are really happy about. Family is complicated, but finally, after a few years of cooling off, it's decided that Robin will actually host this years Robin party.

Meaning Tim shows up in casual clothes (MIT sweatshirt) and a mask, and Damian is actually dressed as Robin when the party is starting to get into the swing of things. The point of it is to make sure all the young heroes get to come and start to befriend each other, so there are a few people who show up and have to actually say that they're *insert alias* and this is met with basically "Dope, nice to meet you Robin" etc.

Insert Danny Twin AU (Or just look-alike fuckery) (for either brother but my brain is on Tim Twin au mode).

Danny decides to show up as his human self, grabs a mask at the door before coming in, and is slowly integrating himself into a conversation when someone grabs his arm- "Hey Red your brother is fighting with a newbie about meat products again-"

And Danny doesn't have a brother but my god has he heard this fight too many times with Sam and Tucker- He's going in and he's defusing this situation because he cannot handle the thought of this argument taking over his new friend group. He deals with it enough, okay?

Robin (like, the real one) looks at him curiously while Danny is talking down the other hero Robin (insert here), and the whole room notices when Robin doesn't take the opportunity to dismiss or belittle his older brother (Lmao because its danny). Damian cannot place his unease about Drake (again, Danny, who is not hiding his identity beyond a mask), and simply decides that this isn't worth the effort.

The party moves on but now instead of everyone calling themselves Robin, Danny is distinctly being called Red. It confuses him a bit, he didn't even know Red Robin was going to be at this party (he hasn't met the guy and doesn't know the lore), but he rolls with it because he's made fast friends with Robin (Bart), Robin (Cassie) and Robin (JON). The kid was full little bro energy and it made Danny laugh, he was so surprised when the real Robin joined them and fell into easy conversation with Robin (Jon).

Danny is playing games with a few others when someone goes to grab a broom to clean up- Turns out Red Robin and his boyfriend Kon had been making out in the closet for most of the party- and the whole room looks at Danny like he's tried to trick them. Tim is at first uneasy that so many people mistook him, but once he's in front of his dupe, puzzle pieces start to move around in his head.

"And who are you again, Robin?" Tim asks carefully, though he suspects he has his answer.

"Uh, Phantom, but you know, a lot of people were calling me Red tonight and I didn't get why until just now." Danny laughs nervously.

"Yeah I bet- Find me monday and we can see about a geneology test."

"That leaves us the whole weekend, to do what exactly? Fuck with people by pulling a parent trap style swap?"

"Nature vs. nuture and all but I don't know how you could be anything but my brother with a question like that." Tim grins and they get to scheming.

Kaiju Week in Review (September 3-9, 2023)

I was a bit nervous about GAMERA -Rebirth-; the animation looked dodgy and Netflix has a shaky track record with kaiju shows. I'm pleased to report this is the best entry in the genre that they've put their name on. Good characters, great action (brutal as always), and actual episodic storytelling that effortlessly weaves in elements from the Showa films beyond all the returning kaiju. Watch it immediately.

Tie-ins abound for GAMERA -Rebirth-: a two-part novelization, a manga adaptation, and a prequel manga that sheds some light on [UNBELIEVABLY MASSIVE SPOILERS]. That prequel manga (GAMERA -Rebirth- code thyrsos) is being published online for free in both Japanese and English. You can read the first chapter here.

In unofficial translation news, English subtitles for GAMERA.1999 (1999) and yokaipedia (2022) are now available. The former is Hideaki Anno's making-of documentary for Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris; the latter is a fun, child-friendly fantasy from Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki with a big ol' centipede-dragon at the end. (It's also maybe the first Japanese kaiju film I've ever seen with a major Black character.) I haven't gotten to GAMERA.1999 yet, though from scrubbing through it, it seems like a lot of dialogue was just ignored by the translator. Shame, as that's one I've wanted for a long time.

We have a teaser for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, as well as a premiere date for the first two (out of ten) episodes: November 17. (I am being showered with Media for my 30th birthday.) The big news from this trailer is that John Goodman is reprising his role as Bill Randa from Kong: Skull Island. I assume that's going to be through flashbacks and old recordings only, since he was eaten by a Skullcrawler in that one. We also catch glimpses of two new creatures, a dragon and a crab from what I can tell. The latter looks to be fighting a Mother Longlegs.

Fandango and AMC have added mostly-empty listings for Godzilla 2000 on November 1. Fathom Events screened Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla on November 3 last year; despite randomly showing Tokyo SOS back in March, I gather they're making a tradition out of Godzilla Day. Note that the listed runtime is longer than the film itself. Predictions for the program: another message from Keiji Ota, the 2022 Godzilla vs. Gigan short, and the Japanese version of G2K. Interesting that they're running the last Toho Godzilla film to receive a wide release in the U.S. exactly a month before Godzilla Minus One has a wide release of its own here.

Gamera isn't a meta-defining Godzilla Battle Line unit... but he's Gamera in a Godzilla game, so I've been using him in every match since I unlocked him. He's gearing towards demolishing flying units, with fireballs that deal more damage against them and knock them back. A pity that he's arriving well after those units were at their most dominant.

Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons #3 still isn't giving me much to write home about, but the kaiju cult creeping to the forefront intrigues. Also cool to see Ebirah in a starring role.

Marubeni, one of Japan's biggest general trading companies, put out a bizarre commercial featuring samurai, zombies, a meteor, and a refurbished GMK King Ghidorah. The ad now has English subtitles, and you can watch a Ghidorah-centric behind-the-scenes video here.

I cannot believe I have more Cleopatra Entertainment fuckery to report on with regards to their Shin Ultraman releases, but they're truly trying to take the "Worst Film Company of 2023" title from the members of the AMPTP. Their third attempt at a barebones disc is starting to reach customers... but the ones who already received the initial replacement disc are being told no more will be sent. @starestream is trying to figure out if they'll be selling the third edition on their site, since it seems buying it anywhere else is a gamble. (Physically, the third edition looks almost the same as the first two, set apart only by the "SUBTITLED" text on the disc.) Either way, it's another blow to a movie that truly doesn't deserve this.

ok so when i say that to me bruce isnt tims dad its sort of like an. its complicated thing. its a familial situationship simultaneously he is and is not kind of thing. its a very brief period where theyre both on the same page and then almost immediately after are on different pages again thing. and its also pushback to the idea/narrative that its an uncomplicated thing, that it simply has to be true. and its also pushback to the whole flattened idea of bruce as the patriarchal head of the quote unquote batfam with his legion of black haired blue eyed sons to fulfill the legacy. its complicated! to me it can never just be about what was on the page at the exclusion of editorial agenda or fandom fuckery, that context, bc comics are so often in conversation with themselves in a way that often changes how you interpret them and engage with them, its a function of the medium.

(furthermore its about where i want their characters to have gone after red robin. its about going to the hardware store for oranges.)

but there are absolutely people who get them right when they write them as family-of-choice father and son (o7 love you guys). there are people who couldn't be further off base when they write them *not*. but theres also no one right answer here for a wide variety of reasons. its complicated and it was always complicated but at at least one point it was something they both wanted.

The worst thing for Hunter is probably not knowing. He will never find out if Caleb's personality was similar to his, because Caleb's been dead for 400 slutty, slutty years and the only person who could tell Hunter what's up is currently stuck to the sole of his shoes. Hunter needs to make peace with the ghosts that haunt him and everyone else (Darius, Flapjack), bc he will never know who he was supposed to be exactly, but it's so important that doesn't matter, no matter the grief around Caleb.

I mean I assume he's being set up to learn about Caleb in season 3 though I have no idea how. Magic maybe. Some kind of projector fuckery like the echo mouse diary, or another time pool or being told by Flapjack or Belos. I wouldn't rule any of them out. But yeah at the same time it's also possible he never learns.

Also yeah absolutely I think the uncertainty of who this man was is gonna eat at him. After learning the grimwalker thing, Hunter proceeded to read every book on the species he could get his hands on. He's the kind of kid who needs answers. Does that mean he'll be happy if he does learn? Most likely not. It's a huge damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Both learning about Caleb and never learning present their own unique internal conflicts.

Cuz like. Say he never learns. All the information Hunter has on Caleb is a name, a past palisman and a photograph in his own reflection. He knows that this whole time his own face has never truly belonged to him. He knows that there was a person who Philip killed and then centuries later Hunter was created as a replacement and has spent years being the version of Caleb that Philip wanted him to be. Maybe he feels guilt over that. Maybe it makes him feel gross in his own skin. This idea that he was a pawn to this man's killer and wore his appearance all the while, which feels twisted in itself.

And its like...what can he do about it? How can he make it right? He was the version of Caleb that Belos wanted but who was the person Caleb wanted to be? What kind of life did he want to live? Maybe Hunter wonders if he can try to live out that life for him. Which is hard because everything about Caleb remains a mystery, yet Hunter still feels some underlying responsibility to uphold a legacy. A legacy he doesn't even understand but he's spent his whole life upholding legacies that it can be a difficult mindset to break out of.

It's just another thing that snags at his progress. Hunter's arc began with the desire to decide for himself who he wanted to be and that is how it should end. He can make peace with Caleb's existence, maybe embrace the person from the past as a part of himself without letting it consume him. Ultimately Hunter will need to realize that he's just doing the same thing all over again. He thought he was free from the pressure Belos put on him but it turns out he just transfered it into something else. He just keeps trying to exist for the sake of someone else's benefit because he doesn't know how else to live. But it needs to stop. He needs to make it stop. Might be an uphill battle to do so but I'm sure he can manage it.

Here you go crow, here's you a new Murder Birb, Raven from Guilty Gear, let's see if you have a type or if Bloody Crow is your one true love.

Close to a thousand years ago, Raven was born during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire, somewhere in the Kingdom of Germany. He lived a very average middle-class life, until he was enlisted as a soldier in his mid-twenties and sent far away. He became an accomplished knight, waging war in foreign lands, but the campaign quickly became an unsustainable one a little over a year after it had begun. The unit to which he belonged attacked a small village to obtain supplies, but their enemies had planned for it and attacked them in the middle of the night.

Raven woke up and, sensing danger, left his room. Avoiding the enemy soldiers, he fled on horseback but he—and the horse—were struck down by a hail of arrows. Defenseless, he was stabbed to "death" by five soldiers. However, rather than dying, he found himself in a strange cylindrical space, as if caged with birds of prey, and felt immeasurable pain. After a few minutes, the pain abruptly ended, and he woke up in a pool of his own blood. Somehow alive, his wounds had closed, leaving faint scars. His aging halted on this first recovery from death, Raven thus began his infinite circle of death and life.

At some point, Raven settled in a village and started using his powers to help people, at times healing the sick and wounded, and at other times overthrowing tyrants. For these deeds he was punished and even executed, but his many returns were celebrated as miracles, and they began to view him as a god. As word of his deeds spread, outsiders sought his aid and left the village to help other settlements. When things settled down, he returned to the first village thinking that he would be welcomed back with open arms, but instead found that the villagers blamed him for every problem that occurred during his absence. Raven then realized that he was no god, but a simple repairman to them.

In time, Raven grew apathetic and tired of living, and attempted suicide many times, only to be met with failure. It was then that he drove an experimental device with spikes on either end through his skull, in an attempt to prevent his brain stem from regenerating, but this too was unsuccessful. Eventually, he met That Man, who gave him a new lease of life, and pledged his allegiance to him.

In summary

Raven is a recurring character in the Guilty Gear series. He is one of three servants of That Man, and his right-hand man. With an immortal body that cannot die of natural causes, Raven has lived about a thousand years, and nothing stimulates him anymore, except pain and eventually even that will soon lose its meaning.

Well, Cos or some say Cosmic. After doing some research, I would say that I do, in fact, have a type. This character’s story sounds eerily similar to the overall tale I wove so passionately for Bloody Crow.

Now, though I am very intrigued by this new Murder Birb, I will say that Crow does remain my one true love because he is the most blatantly Murder-Birb of them all so far (I have seen other characters like this too!), but damn….these raven/crow people are always so cool….what is it with them….I am…very interested in them all….

I think why it is so difficult for me to let go of kp is because this truly is my first and last bl. Idk if you remember me, but you used to get a lot of anons on the seedier side of bl industry. That was me. I tried to give bl a chance many many years ago, but certain tropes didn't really sit comfortable with me. Now you might say well the relationships in kp aren't healthy either ( and I am a vp shipper😅) but I felt there was something here that was missing from all those years earlier, and I fell so deeply into the brainrot. And now it is gone and I don't have anything else ( I mean I am sure the other queer love stories are made with just as much care but still...). Nothing.

As someone who spent years deconstructing my love for M&Bs, it is so ironic that some of my favorite bls are Tharntype and Kinnporsche.

To me, I fell in love with Kinnporsche for two reasons.

It was very obvious about its bad behavior. The first thing I saw n the trailer was the main character coming out to SMOKE!!!! and then he fell in love with his rude boss... and then his boss was parading other partners in front of him. Not to mention the hinting at the sexual torture. I was sold. I was ready for a show that wasn't going to pretend to be about fun and love, all the while parading toxic behaviors as good behavior.

I was sold on Porsche being a bad ass. This was something Type from Tharntype gave me a bit of, but I was upset with him sometimes because he was the abuser. I was happy to see the "bottom" character being given a backbone because too many times those characters are made spineless. But that trailer with Porsche gave me hope.

I went in to Kinnporsche expecting these two things and yes, I will admit that they let me down because Porsche became a little spineless and the show tried to portray Kinn's fuckery as good behavior.

But the beauty of it all was that while I didn't get exactly what I wanted, I got other things. I got intruige. I got action sequences in a bl. I got shenanigans. And best of all, I didn't have to spend 90% of the time staring at school uniforms. I cannot explain how much the adultness of this story appeals to me. I love that they weren't children. At least, they tried to make us forget that Porsche, Jom and Tem were in school but that was so fine by me.

And best of all, KINNPORSCHE KILLED EVERY SINGLE SEXUAL SCENE. The kisses, the sex, the handjobs. Oh Lord. they did it better than everyone who came before and anyone who has come after. Even down to that crying scene in the bar where that silly bartender strolled out and ruined the vegaspete moment, anyone can admit that we were hoping for some wall action. And if they'd done it, the show would have killed it.

Right now, I'm judging western sex scenes using Kinnporsche as my metric. Anything less is cringe, as far as I'm concerned.

So yes, Anon. I understand completely. other bls are trying their best to live up to the legacy of Kinnporsche, but to me, they're not succeeding. I've found some nice ones with good acting/storytelling, but... it's just not it. At least not yet.

I'm waiting with crossed fingers to see if BOC can replicate that magic or if Kinnporsce was a fluke. GMMTV and the others have been pretty consistent but BOC doesn't have a record to track so I want to wait. If another show comes out, I will give it a chance. I'm praying for Man Suang to quench this thirst in my spirit.

Honestly, in my head, I doubt that anything can top Kinnporsche right now. Especially with the cast separating and doing different things. I loved them all together. I got so used to seeing them all as a unit that it's going to be hard to watch something with one or to people. But I will try because I need my fix.

Yo i don't know if anybody has discussed this yet - but i think somewhere i read "HoYo will eventually kill one of the playable characters" and like, this memory just randomly woke me up at 3 a.m. I wanted to ask if you might have an opinion about this topic? If any major, playable character - might die, for example near the end of the game? Like Dain (if they release him as playable) - but it might just as well be, like, the traveler, or Kaeya, or Lisa (if HoYo remembers she exsistes) - ???

well, it's a popular topic for speculation, but at this point its all we can do - speculate. but yeah, some characters have narrative death flags all over them, especially everyone associated with Khaenri'ah - like Dainsleif, travelers, Kaeya, Albedo.

Dain's entire story is about being in constant suffering for 500 years and he basically announced himself as a final boss in Teyvat chapter trailer.

Albedo not only has the ongoing shitshow with his doppelganger, but also, we have a storyline of Durin, the first creation of Gold, who also created Albedo. Durin is known as an evil black dragon, who attacked Mondstadt and had to be killed by Dvalin. Re: Albedo, hoyo pushes very heavily that Traveler is Albedo’s only close friend, whom he admires and shares secrets. while at the same time, we have Albedo’s bombshell line “Will you stop me, if one day I lose control... destroy Mondstadt, destroy everything.” so it seems, they are heavily seeding the “at some point Albedo becomes corrupted, loses control and attacks Mondstadt, and has to be killed by the Traveler, his closest friend and confidant,” narrative, in parallel to Durin’s story.

both traveler and abyss sibling I’d say are at risk. especially after the lore drop about the inteyvat flowers (flowers that Lumine wears in her hair) from Dain in the chasm - how these flowers only grow in Khaenri'ah, but if you take them out, they will crystalize and never wilt, until you take them back to Khaenri'ah - then, they will crumble. And counting that abyss sibling keeps talking about restoring their homeland and they are both seemingly immortal and hundreds of years old, they can either be from Khaenri'ah (with some time fuckery) or from the previous civilization from the same place where later Khaenri'ah was built. Either way, motive of being immortal and then crumbling to dust when returning to homeland doesn’t bode well for both siblings.

Kaeya has I’d say several narrative death flags, the whole “last hope of Khaenri'ah” and allusions to being it’s prince, the whole eyepatch and “celestia’s needle stashed in a cave” i talked about recently, the choice Mona alleges he’ll have to make, the angsty standoff with Diluc. Though if they kill him just to get some Diluc angst, like “oh Diluc thought he was a betrayer, but Kaeya sacrificed himself to save Mondstadt, they reconcile and Kaeya dies,” I’m gonna be so mad, it’s such a tired cliche.  

Honorable mentions to Lisa (if they remember she exists) who had half of her life eaten by the cursed book and whose constellation is time sands, Venti, who has a tragic backstory with many dead friends and “ehehe” demeanor that positions him very well as a tear-jerker sacrifice, Tartag who just like... has the vibes, due to foul legacy eating his life, abyss association and the whole “corrupted into constantly seeking bloodlust and battles” thing. Maybe Zhongli? He has a storyline of slowly degrading and killing him off would be both a shocker moment to the audience, kinda taking the safety net away - now there’s really no Morax looking over from the shadows, and also loop back to how his entire storyline started with his funeral.

Thinking about how Gotham, in many ways, could very well be Haunted in the same way the Navidson House was haunted.

Like, this city was built upon fucked up lands and designed by a bunch of madmen with bizarre aspirations for creating a "New American City" and yet it hasn't ever stopped creating and destroying itself. It shifts and changes and devours its residents. Bruce Wayne is as much born OF the city as he is TRAPPED in the city; he is the proverbial Mr. Navidson of the Navidson House. He is the mind for which the House continues to build and the reason ultimately that all that which he values is ruined. He becomes lost to the House to further he engages with it; lost to his mission and the Rogues Gallery and Joker's fucked-up games.

He loses all of his sons to it (either by way of murder, neglect, or his inability to let go of the Mission and thus drawing them into the Mission) at one point or another. Jason dies by way of the Joker, something the City created. Dick leaves repeatedly because Bruce often fails to treat him like a son instead of a sidekick or soldier at war; their bitterness is not subtle despite how long they've known each other. Tim gets fucked up by Joker, and fucked up by the City and drawn in just like Bruce; another detective thrown into the fire. Damian never quite gets his father's love really (the child has been forged into a violent thing abroad, and the City has long since consumed Bruce). If anything, Damian wants to be consumed by the City just like his father, because he believes that is what his father's legacy ultimately is.

And who is the Minotaur? Who is the beast forged in the city? Arguably it is the Joker, because that clown is nothing but the eternal adversary to Batman. He is a madman obsessed; he wants nothing more than to wreck Batman and make him kill. Because isn't that the whole big fucking thing? Batman doesn't kill, but Joker wants Batman to kill. If the Bat gives in, then he will be just another monster made real in the City.

Idk, if you contextualize all the fuckery in the Batman comics via the psychological horror lens of House of Leaves, it becomes insanely fascinating.

at first she is a pathetic little meow meow. then she became an arbiter. so i just did this with both versions of her considered

ill put her story under the read more thing + arbiter appearance :]

so her whole story thing (i think you already know some of this but oh well): shes just some l corp manager doing her thing. but she was really suspicious of angela, probably became paranoid, and one day she just killed her. and then she got kidnapped by 'binah' and sent to unreality hell (<- doesnt really have a name yet, i just call it that lol). 'binah' pretty much runs the place, and whenever sun dies it changes to a new world. its all in the same place/dimension though - every place made in unreality is its own dimension, which are all a part of the whole.

'binah' herself is some kind of unreality god/construct/etc in binahs body (she has a couple undecided things about her rn but thats generally it). unreality is hostile to most people who enter, so you can probably see how that goes for sun. she goes through a whole lot of mental/physical fuckery, dies a zillion times, and eventually gives up and loses herself/her will to leave.

and then 'binah' disappears. and since shes the one thing in that world that never changed, aka the only thing sun really had to rely on (despite being her enemy), sun just goes welp. and brings back her og goal of leaving and killing angela, but becomes an arbiter and basically ditches her past self. she goes back to l corp to kill her, and from here idk. she could succeed or fail, but either way the seed of light happens and sun dies. she can either be an assistant librarian or an enemy from there.

also, in ruina her goal is still killing angela, but the reason isnt really decided. she could be trying to convince binah shes right, or be doing it in her legacy, or just ditch binah and think the worlds kinda against her, never letting her die until she succeeds in killing angela.

this ended up. way longer than i thought. so heres her arbiter appearance finally (first is in l corp, second is in ruina)

ok honestly im ngl ive confused myself now after looking at the daniel story leaks again and sleeping on it. bailu theory status is pending its literally schrödingers rn im so torn. does the timeline enable for it or not???? it Would explain some things but hhhhhh i cant make sense of it yet.

at first i was like yeah p sure its not happening bc of the dragon heart fuckery and how baiheng wasnt there for the entire course of events only arriving once shit was going down but. what if. df used the heart partially for resurrecting yx??? and then as baiheng sacrificed herself i do find it curious that they specify only drops of blood and hair remaining of her post-vaporization. which are. classic sources of DNA .

and we know dan feng went berserk with his dragon form so its plausible he temporarily regained the vidyadharas ancient but currently long lost ability to just go fuck all gene splicing manipulate biology and living tissue. that ability + baiheng DNA remains + the dragon heart is just hmm.

another thing i realized that i didnt yesterday is that bailu being recognized as the next imbibitor lunae even if her powers are lacking implies she Has the dragon heart (bc its like. not just A vidyadhara heart its clearly its own thing and a huge deal with a critical role in the continued high elder reincarnation line and longs legacy being passed down). so like its clear dan feng had to pass the dragon heart down to her reincarnation line at some point but as the vidyadhara couldnt get him to budge on the hearts status in the shackling prison i doubt it was anytime after the sedition. the IL position has been passed down its just that it wasnt done properly.

so like im thinking there might actually be two separate resurrections happening consecutively?

first yingxing who is possibly either dead or dying as dan feng initially arrives already but the initial attempt at resurrection goes horribly wrong and an emanator (?) of abundance appears + the arbor activates and leads to things like the toxic mist explosion described by the vidyadhara eggs that kills a lot of vidyadhara and eggs instantly. potential resurgence/triggered plague of people being infected by mara on the luofu? yx potentially becomes marastruck then despite being short-lived? (also if the emanator is literally shuhu then... yeah adds up w blades talent name)

and if yx now marastruck is on a clock for how long he lasts before permanently losing his self i can see that being when df uses the dragon heart to stop the mara from proceeding further through bruteforcing permanence to overpower yaoshis abundance as the core fueling his immortality - which is the basic principle behind the draught of draconic surge and how vidyadhara bone marrow is already confirmed to interact with mara. & this would prolly be when df loses control of his form? both fighting the emanator and trying to desperately help yx in time

n like the thing the storys a bit unclear on is just at what point yx had already acquired that perfected immortality of abundance + permanence. but like he must have by the time baiheng arrives on the starskiff and sacrifices herself right? bc whatever baiheng brought w her (some say lan, some say a stellaron) clearly vaporized everything in the vicinity and was enough to strike down the emanator and/or at least halt the crisis with the arbor and everything. and regular mara struck dont come back from that whereas blades still kicking

so with the like mara/arbor/emanator of yaoshi portion of the seditions initial lead up done i feel like baihengs arrival is when the Actual sedition (in terms of an armed rebellion) begins? with the vidyadhara confused but many who survived the initial stage still choosing to stand with dan feng and fight against the arriving cloud knights and all the abominations of abundance

so would this be when the 2nd resurrection and baiheng possibly becoming that furry-draconic mutant abomination happens?? and also how the position/power of the IL ends up passed down although not properly to then-mutated-baiheng and eventually-bailu by df using the either damaged or outright incomplete dragon heart (if he put most of it in yingxing) in the process.

so like in this scenario the 'sin' that yingxing and dan feng share might also be the decision to go fuck it we ball mess with life and death and biology even further (as if the mass casualties so far werent enough) and resurrect their fallen comrade as the new high elder line except it comes out wrong and horrible and jingliu has to put that beast down.

this would also explain part of where the somber tone in blades voiceline about dan heng comes from - if he still understands that the motivation behind that 2nd resurrection was at least to make amends in some desperate way when all they had available was baihengs DNA, a damaged dragon heart with dan fengs hidden DLC cas9 crispr vidyadhara powers still accessible to him. like theres nowhere near the pained sympathy and shared guilt that the tone in the dh line conveys when he talks about jingliu or jing yuan in comparison. it has to be more complicated than "he made me immortal. NOT a fan 0/5"

anyway dunno if its just me but this just makes the beloved thing even more confusing. on one hand "turning the beloved into a monstrosity" really lines up with how the xianzhou views the mara-struck and blade views himself as like. a bass boosted mara-struck on steroids who literally cannot die unlike normal mara victims. and "the one who buried the beloved is you" doesnt kinda sound right for baiheng when all she left behind was just enough genetic material for dan fengs terrible horrible awful no-good cooking class - not a lot to bury. also burying the beloved fits blades melodramatic inner dialogue style and tone with how he considers yingxing already dead and strictly uses 3rd person towards his past self. but also its hard to argue that what happened to baiheng IF the transmutation resurrection theory is real doesnt also warrant a match for "monstrosity". like bailus cool now but that first mutation sure wasnt. she got changed species with no say on the matter

the ambiguity is strong enough that a part of me wonders if its on purpose for censorship reasons tbh. (not an expert on this and by no means want to imply any proper familiarity with the subject. so like if this is wildly unrealistic or inaccurate its fully on me, lmk and ill delete) setting up a scenario where all the homoerotic subtext is clearly intentional and solidified around yingxing and dan feng but this specifically explicit romantic word used Could be twisted to apply to baiheng too for plausible deniability. this assuming they dont actually end up pulling a secret het love triangle reveal in the end at us hhhh im still kinda paranoid - ill be sad but also honestly assume their hands were forced if that rly is the case :/

The fact that Misha says he fought to have his role on the show leave a legacy.... I think says a lot about the working environment these guys had to plough through each day.

We know Misha has always been the spn scapegoat, that the writers and producers and execs have always *used* the fact that Misha is a fan favorite to their favor.

Whether Misha's latest attempts at placating the fandom stem from a corporate need for intervention or from his own desire to simply help.... I think shows the underlying fault. That it sometimes falls to the actors themselves to help navigate fan reactions says a lot about the network, and the show, that they represent. It would take but a minute for one of the writers or producers or network execs to say hey, sorry for the confusion but there is no discrepancy here, there's no conspiracy or an under handed play of fans' emotions.

Instead, we get silence from the higher ups and Misha paddling his little raft through destiel waters. I mean, he tried but I think this goes to show that to some extent both he and Jensen are still struggling with how to deal with this situation, with a scene being so heavily reconstructed to fit network criteria and with their hands being tied by legalities.

I imagine both of them are hurting. Jensen especially since he is clearly giving the silent treatment in his own reaction, or lack thereof, to the last two episodes other than a slap in the face IG post re: the nail that HGTV forgot.

It's a slap in our face that we have to deal with these seesaw emotions over the past few weeks. It's rather grueling and exhausting process; Being a fan of destiel, heck spn itself.

I don't even know if this is making any semblance of sense. I'm frustrated and angry and tired at the way the supernatural execs treat us. Eric Kripke saw potential when he saw Misha in that first episode. The writers saw the chemistry between Jensen and Misha and incorporated into Dean and Cas....and it fit!

Is it so hard to just admit that yes, destiel is canon and be done with it and let the fandom carry on the legacy of supernatural?
