University of California, Riverside, chemical and environmental engineering scientists have identified two species of bacteria found in soil that break down a class of stubborn “forever chemicals,” giving hope for low-cost biological cleanup of industrial pollutants.
These bacteria destroy a subgroup of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, that have one or more chlorine atoms within their chemical structure, Yujie Men, an assistant professor in the Bourns College of Engineering, and her UCR colleagues, reported in the journal Natural Water.
Unhealthful forever chemicals persist in the environment for decades or much longer because of their unusually strong carbon-to-fluorine bonds. Remarkably, the UCR team found that the bacteria cleave the pollutant’s chlorine-carbon bonds, which starts a chain of reactions that destroy the forever chemical structures, rendering them harmless.
“What we discovered is that bacteria can do carbon-chlorine bond cleavage first, generating unstable intermediates,” Men said. “And then those unstable intermediates undergo spontaneous defluorination, which is the cleavage of the carbon-fluorine bond.”
Chlorinated PFAS are a large group in the forever chemical family of thousands of compounds. They include a variety of non-flammable hydraulic fluids used in industry and compounds used to make chemically stable films that serve as moisture barriers in various industrial, packaging, and electronic applications.
The two bacteria species – Desulfovibrio aminophilus and Sporomusa sphaeroides – identified by Men’s group are naturally occurring and are known to live in the subterranean microbiomes where groundwater may be contaminated with PFAS. For expedited cleanups, an inexpensive nutrient, such as methanol, could be injected into groundwater to promote bacterial growth. This would greatly increase the bacteria’s presence to destroy the pollutants more effectively, Men said. If the bacteria are not already present, the contaminated water could be inoculated with one of the bacterium species.
But what’s known about using microorganisms to clean up PFAS is still in its infancy, Men said. Her discovery shows great promise because biological treatments, if effective pollutant-eating microbes are available, are generally less costly and more environmentally friendly than chemical treatments. Pollutant-eating microbes can also be injected into difficult-to-reach locations underground.
Men’s latest PFAS study comes as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is promulgating new regulations to spur cleanups of PFAS-contaminated groundwater sites throughout the nation because these chemicals have been linked to a host of ill health effects, including cancer, kidney disease, and hormone disruptions.

Hello, I was rereading your story and was wondering if you could expand upon the heat sickness you mentioned.
Yes!! I absolutely can!!
So heat sickness is a viral illness that can affect omegas at any time in their lives, though younger omegas are more prone to it than older omegas. Alphas and betas don't get sick from heat sickness, but they can become contaminated and pass it on to an omega easily. (Just like how viruses and bacterial infections work in our world.)
The severity of heat sickness can vary omega to omega depending on things like the particular strain the omega is infected with, their age, how exposed they were to the virus, and just their overall health. It can be fatal in certain cases, and have long lasting serious effects in others.
Symptoms can also vary, both in how it presents and their severity. Generally the first stage is just a feeling of malaise and fatigue, sort of like when you think you're getting sick and you just kind of feel generally awful. That usually lasts for a day or up to three.
The second stage is when the fever sets in. It's usually a high fever that can get dangerous really fast at this stage. Body aches, chills, some omegas get headaches, some get a rash with the fever. Their blood pressure and heart rate will rise during this stage and this is really where things can go wrong really fast. This stage is the most deadly and it's sort of where the illness gets its name. Heat sickness isn't the official medical name, but that's what it gets called because this period of high fever and symptoms affects an omega's brain and the heat cycle. It essentially tricks the brain into thinking it's already gone into heat and throws off the entire cycle, especially in those close to their heat when they get infected. This stage lasts usually about a week.
The third stage is the longest lasting stage. In normal cases in healthy omegas it might last up to two weeks, some might be in this stage for months. Low grade fever, fatigue, hormone imbalance, nausea and vomiting, digestive problems, more flu-like symptoms (headaches, runny nose, cough), body aches, brain fog, emotional turmoil, depression, irregular heat cycles. It's hard to cope with even just for two weeks, and omegas that have lasting effects can struggle a lot. There's a lot of interventions and therapies needed for omegas that have lasting effects and it's really hard on them and their packs (not to mention really expensive).
Heat sickness is very contagious and can spread easily from one omega to the next, especially in places like institutes where you can have hundreds of omegas all enclosed in one space. That's why it gets labeled as an epidemic when strains do find their way into areas because it just spreads so quickly and can just wipe out groups of omegas if there's limited or no access to good healthcare, especially during that second stage where things can get really bad. Usually doctors can predict how long symptoms will last in stage three by the severity of symptoms in stage two.
There's no preventative measures for heat sickness at this point in the timeline when the fic takes place. Things like proper hygiene and masking and quarantine if potential exposure is suspected are generally how things are supposed to go, but as we saw in the fic, not everyone takes it as seriously as they should. Especially betas and alphas since they don't get affected by it. Heat sickness is getting rarer (at least in the developed world), though as we see in the fic it can still become an issue.
Reader got a fairly mild strain that was being spread around during the time of the epidemic, and of course a place like FIOT has state of the art medical facilities and was able to handle the monitoring and upkeep of omega's health during the second and third stages. Reader was close to her heat when she got sick, so her cycle was thrown off for about three months I believe she says. She made a full recovery though and is fine and healthy at this point in the story.
Thank you for asking about this one and I hope this makes sense 😊💚

Okay, Halloween is still a month or so away, but I've been working on my vocaloid Halloween playlist for three weeks already, so I figure it's okay to post this now: if you have any song suggestions for a vocaloid Halloween playlist, pleeease leave them in the notes of this post and I'll love you forever (they don't have to be specifically vocaloid, they can be other vocal synthesizers)
The songs can be either about Halloween or just generally scary/creepy/horror songs, and they can be either light-hearted and upbeat or dark and disturbing (I had the idea to make the playlist start with cute/upbeat songs and have the songs get scarier and darker in nature the further down the playlist you go)
The post officially ends here but in case you're interested I'll put a list under the read more of some of the songs that are definitely going in the playlist, in case it helps you know/decide what songs to suggest^.^ Thank you!!
Happy Halloween - Junky
Mrs. Pumpkin's Comical Dream - hachi
trick and treat - OSTER Project
Oz no Kaitai Show - Ankoku DouwaP
Musunde hiraite rasetsu to mukuro - hachi

not a fan of splatoon but my friend showed me ur horror stuff and it's pretty sick iiiii love how you draw that spyke dude like what's ur inspo.? we just watched nosferatu and it gives off so much of ur vibes ur so cool
wahwhahAHWAHSHWAHHAHHAS IM SO SO SO HAPPY YOU SAY THAT I LOVE OLD MOVIES LIKE THAT (especially Nosferatu *points to comically oversized 'i am a goth' pin on my shirt*)
for my horror art in general i'm very inspired by trevor henderson/slimyswampghost! and horror series on youtube like mandela catalogue, vita carnis, mystery flesh pit, midwest angelica, and a few others! also old web horror i used to be exposed to as a kid lol. also the Silent Hill series (mainly 1-4..), and recently the game cruelty squad. what a nightmare (affectionate) that game is.
and as for spyke (not sure if you're asking this but i will say it anyway!) most of his proportions are inspired by Deino3330/Kotaro Maeda and how his humanoid characters have very skinny, long lanky proportions. (if you are familiar with Vocaloid, he made bacterial contamination and machine muzik. creator of Calne ca.) AS WELL as the mimics from vita carnis!
but typically most of my art is inspired by i guess non-traditional means? i sometimes draw inspiration from media but typically its music, graphic design, and photos. nowadays its very much inspired by album covers or analog technology. my pinterest boards are a mess...

How to Masturbate Without a Vibrator
If you find yourself without a vibrator or simply prefer to explore other methods of self-pleasure, there are plenty of alternatives to consider. While it may be a little disconcerting at first, you don't necessarily need sex toys for a fulfilling solo experience. However, it's also important to keep safety and effectiveness in mind when looking for alternatives.
Today we're going to explore some proven ways to masturbate without a vibrator. Whether you're a novice or looking to expand your masturbation repertoire, these techniques can provide a satisfying experience depending on your preferences. Let's dive into the world of pleasure without sex toys and discover what works best for you, now!
Tumblr media
Your fingers are your most reliable companions
The seemingly innate skill of using fingers to masturbate is simple, but it has to be said that it is a classic and reliable method. For some, it may not provide the same instant gratification as a vibrator, but when done properly, it can still provide incredible pleasure.
Different techniques are vital when you try to explore manually.Instead of immediately resorting to vigorous rubbing, consider gentle circular motions, up-and-down strokes, or even light tapping around the clitoral area. Everyone's preferences are different, so take the time to discover what feels most enjoyable for you.
Also lubricant is a good companion to masturbation, so don't skimp on yours. Apply generously to your fingers and vulva to ensure a smooth and pleasurable experience. Ultimately, experimenting with different techniques and sensations can lead to a fulfilling and enjoyable masturbation session without the need for a vibrator.
Try a pillow
For many vulva-owners, clitoral stimulation takes center stage during masturbation, and grinding can be an excellent technique to explore this sensation further.
Try grinding, this is when pillows can play an unexpected role. You can sit across the square head, choose an upright or flat position, whatever is comfortable for you anyway. Experiment with different grinding movements, such as moving your hips back and forth or side to side, until you discover a rhythm that feels pleasurable.
If you prefer something even firmer, consider using a rolled-up towel instead of a pillow. For additional stimulation, slide your fingers down to your clitoris and grind against them gently. Adding some lubricant can enhance the experience, ensuring everything feels smooth and comfortable.
Tumblr media
Creative shower heads
This is one of the proven and effective DIY masturbation methods. Hold the shower head and aim the jet of water at your clitoris until you find a comfortable angle. Adjust the water pressure and temperature , it is recommended to start with a lower water temperature to avoid discomfort caused by overheating.
Masturbating in the shower offers privacy and discretion, making it a preferred option for many. However, be mindful not to let too much water enter the vagina, as this could disrupt your natural pH balance and potentially lead to infections.
A Massager
If you are missing a vibrator, then you can look for some of life's items as a replacement. However, it's essential to prioritize safety and avoid potential risks associated with certain objects, such as electric toothbrushes or phones.
While most household items are not suitable for sexual stimulation due to material composition or hygiene concerns, there are exceptions. For instance, a vibrating silicone face cleanser, crafted from body-safe materials, can be repurposed for clitoral or G-spot stimulation after thorough cleaning. To enhance safety, consider covering the massager with a condom before use. Additionally, ensure that any item used for penetration is made from a non-porous material to minimize the risk of bacterial contamination.
It is possible to masturbate without a vibrator, but the sensations that a vibrator brings are hard to match with these methods. And it has no health risks. If you decide to purchase a vibrator now, click here.

The Dying Detective
This is our first story from the fourth volume of the canon, "His Last Bow".
Sidney Paget having died in 1908, The Strand got various other artists for the illustrations. This one was done by his brother Walter, who may or may not have been the model for Sherlock.
Tapanuli fever may have been based on the recently discovered melioidosis, a bacterial disease spread by contaminated soil or water, that kills around 89,000 a year. Even with modern antibiotics, the death rate can be 10%.
Formosa was the Western name for what is now called Taiwan.
Rotherhithe was a docks area on the south side of the Thames. The docks closed in the 1980s. It is now gentrifying due to improved transport links, namely Canada Water station, which I have used as an interchange between Jubilee Line and Overground any times. Michael Caine was born there. Not a lot of people know that.
General Practitioner or GP for short is the Commonwealth/former Empire team for a family doctor.
Belladonna, aka deadly nightshade or atropine, was used by women in Renaissance to dilute their pupils and appear more attractive. It does have medical uses though.
Needless to say, you should not try what Sherlock Holmes does at home.

Zwitterionic polymeric sulfur ylides: A new generation of antifouling and bactericidal materials
Bacteria that gather into biofilms on the surfaces of implants, catheters, breathing tubes, and other medical components are a serious health hazard. In the journal Angewandte Chemie International Edition, a research team from the Netherlands has now introduced a new material based on poly(sulfur ylides) that—when applied as coating—effectively inhibits this process known as "fouling." The coating minimizes the adhesion of bacteria to surfaces and is also a bactericide while not affecting mammalian cells. Bacteria organized into biofilms are especially stubborn and often resistant to antibiotics. It is estimated that 65% of infections acquired in hospitals originate from biofilms. The cause is frequently contamination with infectious bacteria from a patient's skin or pathogens that circulate in the bloodstream. The first step is adhesion of the bacteria to a surface. To inhibit this, exposed surfaces are given antifouling coatings, usually made of polyethylene glycol (PEG). PEG binds to water molecules, which then form a hydration layer—an effective barrier against the undesired adsorption of biomolecules and bacterial cells. However, recent research has revealed that PEG also has disadvantages in that it seems to trigger immune responses.

How would neonatal care work for inklings?
(I had to google what this term means. It means urgent care for newborn babies.)
Uh, this is an extremely good question because unlike with humans, I really doubt the Splatoon world really has people give birth (or rather, hatch their eggs) at hospitals. LIke, 90% of the time this is probably done at home and no one even knows. The eggs are laid and they eventually just hatch, which really muddies the whole thing with birth certificates (do they HAVE any?!?!? or IDs? jellyfish literally clone themselves and I highly doubt anyone's keeping official track of that) and it muddies things with, you know, getting help if there's something wrong with the hatchling.
I think the pressure is mostly on the parent and whatever urgent care a hatchling (or the egg) might need is sought out before the inkling hatches at all. The eggs are transparent, so it's easy to see what's going inside and easy to see if something inside is going obviously badly or something abnormal is happening. There's probably clinics and hotlines for keeping track of developing eggs where you can provide pictures of the eggs to keep track of the baby's health and development, or you can take the eggs there regularly to get them looked over by an expert that can tell if something is weird. If something is weird with the egg, it might be kept around for monitoring and in some cases, the squid might be broken out of the egg prematurely to be directly monitored or operated on. In the latter case it won't be fully developed yet and wouldn't be ready to hatch, so they would need extra attention.
A lot of issues happen while the inkling is still in the egg, or immediately after hatching. In probably the most common cases, an infection or other bacterial contamination might develop inside a (damaged) egg, or a squid hatchling could hatch way too early due to damage to the egg or sometimes they just.. kind of do that for no reason. Unhatched squids can become lifeless inside the egg for one reason or another and you need to be paying attention to the eggs to notice those warning signs! There's also situations where a squid is already of size to hatch, but won't or can't for some reason, but often at that point the eggcase is thin enough to easily claw open yourself so it's an easy fix. It's always worth taking the hatchling in for a checkup right away to figure out why the complications occurred, and if there's actions that need to be done, or if it was just a coincidence and there doesn't need to be too much worrying. (Sometimes the unborn squid is just really lazy)
Generally if there's immediate problems with a hatchling, it won't take more than a day or two to notice them, and many people bring their newly hatched kids in for a checkup pretty much right away. Inklings may sometimes be born with missing limbs or extra limbs, which is something that usually isn't something you can do much about nor does it really matter in terms of overall health. However inklings might hatch with an underdeveloped ink sac or an overall poor immune system or ink system, which is usually caused by dryness of the egg and negligence on the parent's part when it comes to inking the egg regularly and keeping them moist.
So probably the most common forms of care for newly hatched inklings would be late ink therapy to help develop these traits that they didn't develop in the egg, monitoring overall underdeveloped hatchlings that hatched prematurely, the kind of stuff. But overall, just monitoring the eggs prior to them hatching if anything strange is spotted is probably the most common form, even if it is a bit premature. Prevention is the best cure in these situations, when it IS that easy to keep track of how the baby is doing before it even really exists as anything more than a little tiny squid the size of a grape.

Listeria
For whatever reason it reminds me of Desperate Housewives and Wisteria lane. Or just Wisteria in general.
Tumblr media
It's unfortunately it's anything but wistful or romantic.
This is inspired by the netflix series Poisoned. I hate that title but it's a great watch. I learned a lot from it. I highly recommend it particularly for medical students and residents etc.
So, listeria are gram positive rods (most bacilli are negative) making this relatively easier to remember (purple rods). Also catalase positive. IT's also a facultative anaerobe - so both cultures may be positive (aerobic and anaerobic bottles).
Tumblr media
the species that is the culprit for major human pathogens is Listeria monocytogenes.
At increased risk groups (more likely to die of Listeriosis) - the immunocompromised and extremes of life, including the elderly, pregnant women and neonates. Immunocompromised: HIV, anyone on long term highish doses of steroids, leukaemia/oncology patients etc. Worryingly, incubation time is 3-90 days in these groups, so it's difficult to really trace or keep track of. Pregnant women are at 20x higher risk of acquiring the severe form.
Source: CDC
Tumblr media
Hence why during pregnancy you're advised not to consume raw salads, fruits, cold cuts, soft cheeses, sprouts and smoked salmon or sushi, no mayo and no raw egg (definitely no raw milk) etc. Similarly, common recommendation is you serve none of these to children under the age of 1. It naturally lives in soil (hence avoidance of raw sprouts) and can live in animals. So it can frequently contaminate food.
Tumblr media
As with COVID (I can't believe I'm using COVID as a measure of things), it can cause mild food borne illness (nausea, vomiting diarrhoea, myalgias, even fevers) to invasive disease causing sepsis and even meningitis or encephalitis. Incubation time is a few days in the mild form.
Tumblr media
Death by Listeria when you have the severe form (Listeriosis) is 20%, astonishingly high given you have a 1% chance of dying from Salmonella.
It's a small risk but the issue is that complications and fatality if you do acquire is high. It's also highly preventable, but the challenge is food safety and avoiding certain foods as a consumer.
i.e. in pregnancy, most will have diarrhoeal illness that's mild. But in the subset that get invasive disease and really unwell, there's a 20% risk of miscarriage, risk of premature labour and risk of still birth at 3% in the US. In the states, pregnant women are also 10x more likely to get Listeria infection. That is, illness after exposure.
On the final note of prevention, also always properly refridgerate food to 4 degrees celsius and cook meat to 165 fahrenheit or 73 degrees celsius. As I've learned from the Poisoned documentary, you can ask restaurants to do this, ask them to use an internal thermometer to measure - as rare/medium rare etc have no meaning as it pertains to food safety. If they can't, order something else.
Tumblr media
With meningoencephalitis, we just presume that Listeria is a possibility and treat empirically while awaiting investigations.
Investigations: - CSF (lumbar puncture) in event of signs of meningism or encephalitis (classic headache/fever/stiff neck/rash and/or acute confusion or seizure AND fevers) --> expect the classic features of bacterial meningiits and gram stain positive for purple rods - PCR - stool cultures have no value - blood cultures--> look for gram positive rods in the preliminary findings, expect a call from the lab Empirical therapy: - none in asymptomatic or mild disease. just monitoring until symptoms resolve and supportive care (fluids etc.) - Listeria is a notifiable disease to the health department in most Western countries that keep track of outbreaks. - in the US, standard treatment is ampicillin. - in Australia at least, standard therapy is IV benzylpenicillin, 2.4 g 4 hrly in meningitis or encephalitis and everyone is just started on this until bug identification/gram staining and sensitivities return. - in hypersensitivity, bactrim is used. - cephalosporins have no activity against them (or "inherently resistant), hence you can see IV ceftriaxone and benzylpen in the drug regimen for empirical therapy of meningitis - cef covers gram negatives, strep pneumo (most common cause of meningitis) and neisseria meningitidis - duration of therapy in severe disease: 3 weeks, 6 weeks if immunosuppressed
Really great summary here.
Random historical trivia
listeria is named for Dr. Joseph Lister, a British surgeon who introduced sterilisation of equipment and antiseptics to surgery, improve post op care and observed that microbes are the cause of cases of poor wound healing or post op infections. he also began to look at them under the microscope as an early pioneer of bacteriology.
Tumblr media
Lister's father by the way, made compound microscopes for a living, so lister became proficient at using this and started publishing articles during medical school
this also led to a lot more research on inflammation and coagulation
weirder trivia: in his med school days, surgeons commonly did not wash hands between patients and some didn't even change gowns, glorifying how busy they where by how many stains were on it by the end of the day
Tumblr media
so unsurprisingly his early battles to pioneer antiseptics and aseptic techqniues to prevent the transmission of infection in surgical patients were pretty uphill
Resources CDC guidelines WHO guidelines FDA Statpearls --> great at covering basic physiology and pathology etc. in a short form. Australian therapeutic guidelines - unfortunately not free.. so won't bother to link. If you work at any large-ish Australian hospital you'll have 'free' access. Wikipaedia US list of outbreaks CDC recommendations on foods to avoid vs okay to eat to avoid Listeria

DD/PM'S PLAYLIST OF VOCALOID SONGS ! (2023)
Tumblr media
Hi! So, I have been in this side of the internet for a long while, and on the request of one of my mutuals, I've made what I call THE Vocaloid playlist (In my opinion!!)
This is separated in two categories; CLASSICS that everyone should/does know, and BANGERS, that for some reason or another didn't make the classics.
There are some additional categories that I've added, those being: weird songs I really like in some way or another, and songs that are technically UTAU or derivatives.
They are also separated by language and grouped by producers (and credited, hopefully all correctly) but there is no general order to them - important noting here as well that some of the producers might nowadays not be the best people around, but I didn't take that into account.
Please enjoy this!! I put a lot of effort, so I'd love to see any opinions or additions!
Now let's get started!

*Kneels* My dear luminous lord Starscream, I wouldn’t normally think to bother your sonorous self with such a tiny question, but seeing as other humans are speaking freely.. I wouldn’t dare throw away an opportunity to be in your stunning presence. Might I ask if rust is similar to human gangrene?
As I'm not extremely familiar with humans and their various ailments, I had to look that up. Thank you. It was revolting.
Tumblr media
I suppose an extremely severe rust infection bears some similarities to gangrene, though there are key differences. Rust in general is an inexact match to how contaminants affect organic life, but it it does serve to talk about it as an infection. The result of bad rusting is similar to gangrene, but why it happens and how it affects our bodies overall are different.
Most rust infections are minor irritations caused by abrasion or acid damaging our surfaces and allowing our metals to oxidize (or even react with other chemicals, which isn't technically rust but we do call it rust infection outside of technical medical contexts, for the sake of simplicity). It only causes an infection if it happens faster than our self repair nanites can repair it. Once the injury is cleaned, our nanites are usually capable of restoring the damaged metal on their own. Any well stocked first aid kit has salves containing metals and blank, programable nanites to speed up the process. Your own nanites will assimilate the blank ones and copy repair instructions onto them, then break them down and recycle them once they complete their task. In a proper hospital setting, additional nanites can be programmed with your full specs to carry out more sophisticated repairs.
Sometimes a rust infection can get out of control, and that is similar to gangrene. It is possible to lose parts of your frame entirely, and it can be life threatening if it spreads to your Spark chamber, fuel pump, processor, or certain structures in between. However, nearly all of our parts are replaceable, unlike humans, and rust is extremely slow spreading (this doesn't apply to Cosmic Rust, which is not a true rust but a virus, and can disintegrate a bot in a matter of hours). It usually begins on the outside of our frames and takes so long to get to any vital components that it's rarely considered an emergency. We would certainly never chop off a limb to keep rust from spreading, and our Energon lines can't carry the infection to other parts of our bodies the way human blood can.
Gangrene is caused by either loss of blood or a severe bacterial infection, and there are analogous factors in rust infections, though they are not the root cause.
Lack of Energon flow to an area does mean repair nanites can't get there, thus making the area more susceptible to abrasion and chemical reactions, though in itself it can't cause a part of our frames to die. Energon is our lifeblood, but as long as we have a supply to our Spark chamber and processor, the rest of our bodies will still function using wiring, motors, and hydraulics. It must be said though, it feels off when you don't have Energon directly interacting with power systems and sensors throughout your frame. I'd compare it to the feeling when you get a limb replaced and it hasn't been fully calibrated.
Outside contamination is also a cause of rust infections, though there is nothing that infests our bodies like bacteria, causing our metal to die and rust (apart from viruses, again). It is possible to get a rust infection from being in rusty areas such as ruins or the Sea of Rust, especially in damp weather, but that is only because of the abrasive nature of that much powdered rust, which creates sites for oxidization and other reactions to start. Damp weather makes it worse because our precipitation is caustic if it touches you, and it also frees up oxygen that is normally bound into the metals that comprise our world. Cybertron normally has very little oxygen in the air since it has no oceans and was never infested with cyanobacteria and algae. It is ideal for robotic life.
Even with the comparable factors of Energon loss and contamination at play, it takes a very long time to have a surface rust patch develop into anything approaching gangrene, unless your repair systems are entirely comprised. Before the war, only miners in deep caverns and workers who processed raw metals in unsafe factories saw many bad rust infections. The Council and caste overseers never addressed the problem because those mecha were considered replaceable. Once the war started, many more Cybertronians got a taste of such conditions, once our civilization crumbled and armies lived and fought amongst the ruins in all kinds of weather. There were worse things than rust out there, to be sure, but it was a constant battle to keep our units well maintained.
One factor that can cause rust infections to worsen quickly but doesn't play a direct role in gangrene is malnutrition. Our nanites need a supply of dissolved metals and mineral in our Energon in order to repair our frames, and without it, we can rust even if Energon is making its way to all our extremities. Not consuming enough Energon, or consuming Energon that has been overly refined or else left raw, can all contribute to poor nanite production and utilization. Raw Energon also typically has a high acid content if it's liquid, which can wreck your filters and use up all your nanites just trying to repair that initial damage, exacerbating other rust patches that you would likely have if you were out in the wild drinking Energon out of the ground, presumably not in the best shape to begin with...

MCX Rants: Cloning
r/ContamFam mycopal asks: “Hey pal do you have any good tips or sources for info on moving mushroom tissue to agar?”
MCX Answers: The way I understand it is: you can do two types of transfers for cloning, considered most common and effective.
One is as you mentioned the splitting stipe and taking a transfer from inside the stipe. You want to ensure that your area, yourself, and your tools are cleaned with isopropyl alcohol 70% . You will tear from the base up towards the cap, with the exposed part of the STIPE, towards your laminar flow, or towards the back of your still airbox. you only need a rice size piece of transfer.
Often the inner flesh is very stringy and breaks away quite easily. I’ll personally just cut a rice size cut in a square shape from the inner part of the stipe and then gently poke that and pull it out and put it on a plate. Sometimes inner Mycelium flesh can pull away and you can put that on a plate. The mushroom fruit body is all mycelium. Everything about it is made from mycelium, and arguably all of its components, contain but also can, either: produce or generate, and proliferate mycelium from that fruit body.
The second way involves approaching the xfer from the topside of the cap, ‘dorsal’ and cutting open the center dorsal point and then take from inside the cap at the pileus-stipe junction… but from within the cap… its a little more technical and often can expose the xfer to contam from the flesh u open up before taking xfer if you arent careful in how you peel back the external flesh and when you push the knife into the cap it can push microbes down into the previously unexposed inner mycelial tissue).
The idea for these types of transfers is that contaminants in your environment that float in around you or fall off of you, if present, likely is on or near your external fruitbody. If you take from the inside of the fruitbody its arguable that its more clean and free of contaminant microbes as the primordia formation is assumedly on healthy uncontaminated mycelium and unless the flesh tears during maturation, the inner parts are fully protected from external contaminant sources while growing.
Sometimes these cooccurring microbes are harmless to your grow and to you, and can even be beneficial (like certain yeasts that are used in agar preparation) or even some naturally occurring bacteria in the substrate! I think of my tubs as a homeostatic localized microclimate - environment :)
Our tubs, and the fungi in them have similar homeostasis in the wild, and can be conceptually applied to community mycology cultivation!
I think of comparing potential “microcosm” cultivation much like the human body, external and internal… theres always gonna be contaminant microbes on our skin and around our mucosal membranes, but with proper hygiene and diet our body is its own microcosm of microbes that are fucking and fighting away under our literal noses xD —- its when one grouping of these microbes begins to advantage over the equalized body microcosm we have (think if you dont bathe you may develop yeast and bacterial infections more easily as surface conditions of your skin and within your creases, nooks and crannies will can be overpowered by something that spreads… )
and thats kind of the basic idea of germ theory I think… and I also think it applies to our grow environments if approach cultivation holistically :)
surely im missing technical nuance but I know my thoughts are in the spirit of the theory!
Hope my thoughts aid your mycojourney!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WORLD COUNCIL FOR HEALTH EXPERT PANEL FINDS CANCER PROMOTING DNA CONTAMINATION IN COVID-19 VACCINES
International expert panel concludes that Covid vaccines are contaminated with foreign DNA and that SV40, a cancer-promoting genetic sequence has been found in the vaccines

Bath, U.K. – The World Council for Health, in collaboration with expert advisers, is dedicated to providing the public with accurate and reliable information to promote health and well-being. In light of recent concerns regarding bacterial DNA and genetic sequences in mRNA vaccines, the World Council for Health organized an Urgent Expert Hearing on this critical topic on Monday 9th October.

The hearing took place virtually and addressed the implications of these findings for all people of the world. The following internationally renowned immunologists, geneticists, specialist physicians and research scientists shared their findings with the audience:

•Kevin McKernan (USA)
•Dr Janci Lindsay (USA)
•Prof Sucharit Bhakdi (Germany)
•Assoc Prof Byram Bridle (Canada)
•Dr Peter McCullough (USA)
•Prof Brigitte König (Germany)
•Dr Jessica Rose (Canada)
•Prof Alexandra Henrion-Caude (France)
•Attorney Katie Ashby-Koppens (Australia) shared the legal implications of the deployment of unregulated GMO products as vaccines
Summary of Findings:
1 Bacterial DNA (plasmids) has been found in mRNA vaccine vials.
2 A cancer-promoting genetic sequence—SV40—has been found in the Covid-19 vaccines. This was not present in the vials used for the approval studies but has been found in all vials of the BioNTech vials disseminated for public use.
3 These discoveries have been confirmed in several independent laboratories worldwide.
4 The discovery was originally made in April 2023 by Kevin McKernan at which point regulatory bodies were contacted. No official reply has been received.
5 Multiple mechanisms exist in which this genetic information might be integrated into the human genome.
6 This DNA could instruct our bodies to produce mRNA and foreign proteins for an unknown period with potential implications for subsequent generations.
7 There is no constructive purpose identified for the undeclared SV40 promotor sequence, which in addition to its cancer risk, enhances the capacity to incorporate the other foreign genetic material into the recipients’ own chromosomes potentially rendering them (and possibly even their offspring) permanently genetically modified.
8 There are multiple completely undeclared genetic sequences in both Moderna and Pfizer vials with the SV40 sequence found only in the Pfizer vials. However, latent SV40 infections in a significant portion of the population could present the same SV40 risk to Moderna recipients.
9 Even in the absence of chromosomal integration, the DNA plasmids could generate mRNA for the spike protein toxin and other harmful proteins for prolonged and unpredictable periods of time.
10 Integration of foreign DNA into the human genome disrupts existing natural genetic sequences; this carries further risk of disease including cancer.
11 The Covid-19 vaccines qualify as GMO (genetically modified organism) products, which require approval in addition to that required for older, more traditional vaccines.
12Informed consent for these products is impossible as the risks of the products have never been formally and transparently assessed by regulators and are not fully known. Independent assessment of the emerging and available evidence is that these products are extremely dangerous with implications for disease, death, transmission and inheritance.
13 An immediate moratorium on these novel genetic “vaccines” was demanded by the expert panelists.

Contamination of mRNA Vaccines
Due to the manufacturing process, mRNA vaccines are contaminated with DNA of bacteria, which provide the matrix for the formation of the wanted mRNA. This was known beforehand, but the extent of the contamination greatly underestimated. In contrast to mRNA, which must first be converted into DNA through reverse transcription, DNA introduced into cells using vectors can be incorporated directly into the genome, resulting in some genes being inactivated or expressed, even leading to tumor formation. Moreover, this foreign DNA goes particularly into the ovaries, which is even more fatal in people who have not yet reproduced, such as children and adolescents.
The WHO set 10 nanograms as the high limit. Laboratories in the USA and EU found multiple limit value violations, which were often 80 times the permissible value of foreign DNA; some exceeded the limit by 300 or even 500 times.
Even if the foreign DNA cannot integrate into the body's own genome due to its size, such plasmids, ring-shaped bacterial genetic material, can still remain permanently in the cell, where they produce antibiotics or spike proteins all the time, and are transferred to daughter cells. Forensic medical examinations of people who died “suddenly” show that the spike proteins can even accumulate in the brain. The damage caused by these vaccinations is incalculable, and we can only estimate the long-term consequences so far. It may prove to be worse than World War II; the true Third World War, fought on a social and genetic level.
Some ask, why was this allowed? Well, during the clinical trials, differently manufactured vaccines were used that did not have such high levels of impurities. Added to this is the general corruption among authorities such as the CDC and the EU, which approved those vaccines with supposedly justified emergency approvals, contrary to all concerns; and the media and politicians who, through constant fear and pressure, ultimately forced people to get vaccinated, at least all those who were not strong-willed enough to resist.
