Name: Bubbles

Debut: Clu Clu Land

Bubbles is a Weird Creature, a Weird Girl, and a Weird Hero! The best kind of all three of those things to be! Bubbles is very good at grasping, better than I am, probably, and she doesn’t even have as many fingers as I do! Clu Clu Land is a game about a titular Land, in which our hero uses her hands, with their fingers, located on the end of her arms, to grab onto poles. For this purpose, what animal did they choose?

A fish! Bubbles is a fish! I don’t just mean that in the sense that she is a tetrapod, she is meant to be a “balloon fish”, so probably either a puffer fish or an original creation. And despite its name, Clu Clu Land is underwater! The whole situation is wacky. I don’t know.

Clu Clu Land is weird. Bubbles is moving forward at all times, and must grab onto poles to turn around! I had always thought this was just how Bubbles is, but after reading the manual, I have learned that it is the effect of a strange power in Clu Clu Land (location)! Bubbles Lore! Now there’s NO reason for her not to be in Smash!

Bubbles is really a great character design. She is a very simple character design, but I like those! Just a cute funny little creature. She is about the same genre of character as Pac-Man or Q*bert, but I don’t think there is really a word for that kind of character. Yet. We have Scrimblo now, maybe this one is next! Her Spirit Battle even uses Pac-Man, since they’re somewhat similar creatures. Also because the game is like Pac-Man I guess. Bubbles has a funny face, funny arms with gloves, funny feet, and a little tail that is not particularly fishy, which you can see a bit of here:

Awesome! Super Smash Bros. Melee trophy rendering! She is basically real now! It is very important that Bubbles is a female character, because, I mean, just look at her. A female character who is not Blatantly Female, whether in a sexualized way or a Ms. Pac-Man (RIP) way, is always so epically awesome, especially for an NES game! I’m not as big of a fan of her English name, though, since Bubbles is just a word, and a somewhat common one for characters, at that. I can think of a Badnik and a Powerpuff Girl named Bubbles. Her Japanese name is Gloopy, and wow! I love it! So so silly! And distinct, despite being just a silly word! It is perfect.

Aside from Grasping, Bubbles has a Special Attack! She can shoot electric shockwave blasts! I guess it’s a LITTLE fishy? All the animals that can do an Electric Attack in real life are fish. There we go! Her most realistic feature is her Electric Shockwave Blast Special Attack!

After completing a stage, Bubbles will Dance while the score is tallied! I do not really care about the score at all. I just like the funny dance! And, even better, the way she looks at the score after the dance!

This is a “Golly!” face if I’ve ever seen one! I love it! I love Bubbles! And even if she only had one game, that’s okay, because Nintendo still loves her! She makes cameos quite often, often being playable in them, and I won’t list them all, but I will tell you the Silliest.

Bubbles is an unlockable playable character in DK: King of Swing! The only non-DK character in the game! As if that wasn’t enough, you can also play as Wrinkly Kong in this game, so those alone make the roster incredible.

I don’t know how to end this post. I was thinking “If it’s not Clu Clu Land, it might as well be Poo Poo Land!” Is that anything? I don’t know but it’s what you’re getting! I hope you like it.
