I absolutely adore your art style and am so happy I found all of your TAZ fanart. The clean faint lines plus the water colors are so soothing and happy and adorable. It makes me nostalgic for those old kids books that were done like this. I smile every time I see your art and hope that one day with enough practice I can pull descriptions from things and draw these varied and cute characters as quickly and as confidently as you do

This one.... I don’t know what it is about this fic, but it brings me so much happiness remembering that I wrote something this good. I don’t know if it’s the way I wrote it or the content or what, but... gosh. Blupjeans + Angst with happy ending? Please... 

Vampire Blups (and the continuation, by extension)

I absolutely fell in love with the concept of vampire blupjeans while writing these. Some of my favorite things to write are just very... open and soft and sincere, I guess. Characters being emotionally vulnerable and trusting each other. Just the softness of all of them being close.

Corrections; Fear of Rejection (on AO3)

I mainly wrote this fic because of dysphoria, to be honest, but it turned out a lot better than I hoped for. I’m finding it hard to find a lot of trans content that’s not specifically smut related, and I kinda hate that? Because, yes, of course we need trans representation in smut, but we also need it in regular fics as well. This ones about Magnus, who I personally HC as trans, and it has a nice lil’ touch of Barry and Lup at the end.

From the Moment I Met You (Again and Again) (on AO3)

This one is incredibly important to me. I’m not going to go into details, but memory loss is a huge thing in my life, and making this helped me cope. It’s Taako-centric and I just... love it. It’s very soft, it’s very real, and I personally find it very heartwarming.

Food’s Getting Cold (on AO3)

Magnus-centric and loving it. As someone who suffers from a suitcase full of mental illnesses, exploring what happens to TAZ characters after the battle ends is very intriguing to me. I think you might be seeing a bit of a trend by me saying “I wrote this to vent” but, honestly? Writing helps.

This... makes me so incredibly soft, I’m not gonna lie. I don’t know what else to say besides that. I actually feel really good about this lil ficlet. It makes me feel nice. I like it.

YESSS! GOsh I know how that feels. And like my problem is that my to listen to list has gotten so long at this point that I find it extremely difficult what show to listen to next. When I ask for recommendations, usually what I mean is, help me narrow down my list pls.

I can’t answer your questions cuz they’re major spoilers but the story they’ll tell is really gr8! And speaking of the bright sessions, if you enjoyed this show I think you’re gonna enjoy tbs. they both scratch the same itch, which is free therapy in the form of podcasts. Like they’re both mostly about characters working through their deep seated trauma and their interpersonal relationships and learning to be a person. i’m very glad ksems came out when it did cuz I was in sore need of something like it when tbs ended.

i was just listening to embodiment, the episode where kalila helps desiree to figure out that they need to spend more time with their physical body instead of astral projecting so often, and i was getting ready to stop paying so much attention to the credits when she got these cramps out of nowhere. kalila said it was probably empathetic magic, but my first thought was that she had been hexed and i'm still suspicious tbh (1/2

but! that episode also answered some questions. the fact that desiree got a referral means that magic is definitely recognized as real by general society and the government. and i think kalila mentioned a different surname, and that stormfire is her initiate name, which i'm guessing has to do with her being kicked out of the coven. and aphrodite showed up! i'm very interested in why they aren't exactly on speaking terms anymore! i bet it's related to why she isn't with the coven anymore too(2/2) 

Oh wow, I just realized that kalila mentioning empathetic magic was probably foreshadowing for a major reveal in the s1 finale.

I don’t think it counts as spoilers, but you’re right in that magic is accepted as a normal part of reality in this show. This show is set in modern times but all myths and religions are true. And like, this show has such a good take on that urban fantasy trope cuz like, so much care and respect has been given to all the folklore and beliefs that they actually feel like living breathing religions and not just quirky set dressing. Like, in s2, there was an episode that was a deep dive into history, about how a lot of real world issues intersected with the magical world and it was incredibly well written! And this show is very good at raising the stakes and expanding the main conflict from a personal one to a community one.

And to answer your question, Kalila does indeed have a different surname. It’s Agnihotri. I actually thought that Stormfire was a transliteration of that cuz I think Agni means fire. I’m still not sure what it means exactly but a quick google search reveals that it’s derived from the Agnihotra ritual, which is a twice daily offering of heated milk, practiced in many South Asian cultures. And she mentions in s2 she uses her initiate name for her business cuz Branding™

Tell me about your favourite character?

Oh, gosh, like, ever?

Hot diggity, that’s a lot of fiction to sort through. Please excuse the vagueness I throw around to avoid the juiciest spoilers.

The ones that spring to mind immediately:

Araris Valerian (The Codex Alera) - He’s just so interesting! Knowing the whole story, going back to reading the first book is so much fun because of all the very clever choices you see him make when literally no one else notices. This is a character I love for his choices. He didn’t have to do anything, but he made some huge sacrifices that saved the right people and continued to make choices that might not have been the best for him, but were necessary for someone else. Also he is surprisingly cheeky and I love that.

Othello (Othello) - Honestly, he might only be here because I re-read the play today, but I really do like him as a character. Othello is the pawn in the play, but he is steadfast in his morals, even though his mind is twisted by Iago’s lies and wild speculation. He is unerring in his elocution and even when he’s driven to the brink of insanity, he tries to make sure his wife prays before he kills her so her soul isn’t damned forever. He is careful and measured until he is forced not to be. His downfall is enthralling to watch. (Also his “It is the cause” soliloquy is one of my favorites to see/hear performed.)

Crowley (Good Omens) - What’s cooler than a demon who wants people to think he’s really cool when he super isn’t? And has a hard time expressing positive emotion so he does it via acts of service and small demonstrations of considerate kindness? And is supposed to be something he never wanted in the first place and pretends to be good at that, too, even though there’s only one person he ever really feels himself with when he isn’t pretending? And whose imagination defies the powers that be? Nothing, that’s what.

Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince - I had the benefit of taking a class about female action heroes and we read the entire run of daily WW comics from 1944-45. I like OG Diana, DCCU Diana, Bombshells Diana (oh gosh that scene in the first issue with Steve in the soldiers’ camp? DUDE.), all of ‘em. She is unwavering in her values and refuses to be pushed aside or conquered. She will stand for what she believes is right no matter what. And she’s a huge badass.

Lucretia (TAZ: Balance) - Goddamn I love Lucretia so much. I don’t wanna say too much because the spoilers for her arc are so good but her development? Over the whole timeline of the Balance arc? Is so amazing? What I really love about her is that she’s a person who stepped up when she felt no one else could and did the unthinkable so the people she loved could be happy. Yeah, she might not have made the right call, but she made a call that she saw as the best and only option to save her friends and possibly the world. I want my own character arc to look a little bit like hers during The Stolen Century.

But if we’re talking my own characters, Gemma and Babylon are my favorites right now.

I’ve talked a lot about Gemma, but what I like most about her is that even though she’s been kicked in the pants by the universe a few times, she still has that drive to help others when they get kicked, too. She’s the kind of person who asks how you’re feeling after you came in two weeks ago to grab an decongestant when you thought you had the sniffles, even if she barely remembers your name and you ran into each other spontaneously on the street.

Babylon is a ruthless kind of person that I rarely ever write. They’re strict and sharp and pointy. They’re short with people who annoy them and dismissive of people who don’t live up to their standards. But what I love about them is their brutal efficiency. Whatever it takes, they’ll do it, and if someone is in their way, they had better move. They’re crafty when they need to be, even though they’d prefer not to have to be. They make friends in the most unlikely places.

Okay, listen. Hear me out on this one, my guys. Miraculous Ladybug/The Adventure Zone AU.

Black Cat- Kravitz

Everyone is given a Miraculous that suits what lessons they need to learn, how they need to grow as a person (Lup learns how to protect others and herself rather than attack 24/7, Magnus learns how to be a Stealth Boi instead of rushing in, Taako "Oh the labor! Oh the pain!" Tacco learns hard work, etc.)

Everyone in Paris ships BeeCat and PeaTurtle. Everyone. It's Paris' OTPs.

At first the Squad sees Angus as Ladybug (ready to help people and all suited up) and they are confused and laugh because holy shit, that's a twelve year old ("please don't underestimate me, sirs and Ma'am!" "Yeah sure, whatever pint-size") when Angus fucking beats the hell outta that akuma. Like, nobody's business. Lucky charm, baddabing baddaboom, Miraculous Cure. Cut to the Squad's shocked faces because holy shit, that twelve year old is actually pretty badass. They don't stop the ribbing though, they just don't really doubt him anymore.

EVERYONE SHIPS BEECAT AND PEATURTLE. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.

Lucretia is the Guardian, because something happened to the last one (cough cough davenport cough cough) and while she isn't exactly the best, she's TRYING her best. She's made a couple mistakes, but she's trying.

They all know each other in real life (The IPRE group, most of the Bureau group +Krav), and Merle knows John, John is one of Merle's good friends (he doesn't know he's the one tormenting Paris, obvs), but he isn't close to the group as a whole.

Ango Mcdango figures out their identities first. No question. He's the world's greatest detective, gosh dang it. He almost calls them by their real names a couple times, and he Knows after about a month being with the group.

Instead of just the Ladybug and the Black Cat miraculous being activated at first, all of them are active at first. Lucretia sends out them all to their candidates early (probs not the best idea) it's a clusterfuck and It's fuckin chaotic as hell, six people trying to work together and beat a villain while simultaneously trying to figure out powers, weapons, fighting styles, etc.

They eventually think that not everyone is needed at once, and that getting all six of them for one akuma is unnecessary. But then John ups the ante, and there are multiple Akumas running around at once. They're usually attacks that explode all at once with multiple at one time and then going AWOL the rest of the day, because controlling multiple Akumas and giving them powers and shit is hella exhausting. All six are usually needed for these attacks.

Carey and Killian run the Ladyblog, and both of them are reckless enough to go up close to get footage for it, much to literally everyone's displeasure. They all try to get them to be less reckless but it never really works out. Carey is way better at not being seen by the akuma, while Killian is good at getting herself out of sticky situations with her good good civilian punches.

The eventual full reveal happens and they're just like, "wow we're all fucking idiots," and Angus is just nodding in agreement, having figured it all out literally months ago

Tikki, like the rest of the Squad (and Paris really) is appalled/doubtful at having a Angus be Ladybug (he's so young compared to everyone else) but she fuckin loves him. She's such a mom to him it's not even funny.

Krav is just. Infinitely done with Plagg. He is so tired of Plagg and his shit. He cares about Plagg but holy fuck would you please stop getting into things and causing trouble and giving vague ass answers to questions you little-

There is a lot of complaining about who got what miraculous (because the right path isn't always the easiest), like Taako wants the peacock, Magnus wants the Turtle, Kravits wants the bee, etc. and there almost is a Kwami Swap, but the Kwamis refuse and convince them that that would be a Very Bad Idea. Except Plagg and Trixx. They both would be pretty chill with it tbh, because it'd be funny.

At first Krav does the Accent thing as Black Cat, but he drops it eventually.

PeaTurtle is the first ship to sail. Paris rejoices when it's made official. Lup straight up smirks into Team Sweet Flips camera and announces it. It probably becomes a meme.

I saw one of your tags on a post about the Merle and Pan scene earlier and I feel the exact same way! Like I've really been struggling with feeling God's presence lately and the church I thought was finally a good family for me turned out to have issues with being prejudiced and not really caring about helping people in ways that matter... I've just felt so lost and parts of Merle's story have helped so much?? Which was unexpected but really nice to find

right?? you find God in the strangest places sometimes. but all truth is God’s truth, which is something i’m pretty sure thomas aquinas said, and if there’s one thing taz is good at, it’s conveying truth. (gosh DARN i love that podcast.)

Pairing: Lupcretia, mentions of Lupjeans (I’ve been calling it Nerd Alert in my head)

“I’d like to learn to bake,”Lucretia said one morning as she cornered Lup outside of her bedroom on TheStarblaster. She seemed deadly serious, so much so that Lup almost cracked ajoke about lightening up, but in the past few years she’d gotten good enough atreading the other woman’s body language to notice the way Lucretia’s fingerscurled in a death grip around one of her many journals.  

“Any reason this is coming up now,sweetcheeks?” Lup asked, and hoped she didn’t imagine the blush at thenickname.

“Well,” Lucretia answered, hervoice cracking a bit before she managed to gather her confidence, “I thoughtthat it might help. With the journaling, I mean. It’s hard to write aboutthings I don’t know, and cooking is something you and Taako love, so knowingsomething about it would make my accounts more authentic.”

That’s the most Lucretia answer Luphad ever heard, and she couldn’t stop herself from laughing at that. Lucretiadefinitely blushed at that, her head ducked as if to hide in her journal. Shit.Lucretia must not have realized that was the laugh Lup reserves for things shewas fond of.

“Hey, no, don’t worry ‘Cretia.That’s just the cutest thing I’ve heard since we got to this reality. Sure, Ican teach you how to make some sweetass baked goods. I was actually going tomake a pie when you ran into me. Wanna help?”

Lucretia brightened, and Lupcouldn’t bring herself to regret losing one of the few moments of quality Luptime she’d managed to fit into her schedule. A ship as big as The Starblastershould have felt empty with only seven people, but her colleagues andespecially her brother had a way of feeling full. Usually Lup enjoyed that, butsometimes she just wanted to sneak into a room by herself and think of sickspells while chopping ingredients.  

Lucretia trailed after Lup into thekitchen, looking bewildered as Lup threw an apron over her head. Lup took alook at her, wide eyed and wearing an apron that Taako had monogrammed “HEADBITCH IN CHARGE”, and almost lost her shit laughing. Lup began to realize thatshe often almost lost her shit laughing, which was usually on brand for her butseemed to make Lucretia nervous. Swallowing down the humor of it, she starteddigging through the cabinets for ingredients.

“You know, I’m glad Ole CaptainDavy packed a lot of supplies before we left,” she said as she chucked pie tinsand rollers onto the counter. “The last couple of realities were fun and all,but I wish we could find some world that sold real baking supplies, ya dig?”

Lucretia let out a noise that mayhave been one of agreement.

“Course, you have to wonder why hethought we’d need all this stuff,” Lup continued, crouching down in front ofthe cupboard where she knew Taako stashed the good sugar, “this whole shindigwasn’t meant to last this long, was it?”

“Captain Davenport likes to beprepared. It’s what makes him such a good commander,” Lucretia said. Lupshrugged, pulling out the sought after ingredient and plunking it down on thecounter beside all of her other treasures.

“If it means I get to bake pieswithout having to pull some ludicrous hundred year mission rationing, I’ll beglad.”

“This mission won’t last a hundredyears.”

“I sure hope it doesn’t. Alright.Let’s make some sweet sweet pastries.” Lup opened the top of the flour andbegan pouring it into the bowl, keeping an eye on the levels as she addressedLucretia, “Now you’re supposed to measure this shit, but I’m pro so I don’tneed to do that. You want, like, two cups of this,” she grabbed the saltshaker, “a teaspoon of that, and then some butter. Like. A cup of butter.Something like that.” She looked up. Lucretia was nodding, her pens movingfuriously in two journals. Lup slid the bowl over to her, “you mix it.”

Lucretia took the bowl as if itwere something delicate. Lup resisted the urge to reach over and change hergrip on the spoon, instead watching her as she figured it out for herself. Aswith most things, Lucretia picked it up quickly.

“This is more difficult than youmake it look,” Lucretia mused as she stirred the dough.

“Practice makes perfect, andperfect is the Lup Aesthetic,” Lup said, putting on her most stunning smile.Lucretia blushed again. She got back to stirring until the dough was about theright texture and Lup took back the spoon.

“What now?”

“Rolling time, my dude.” Lupbrandished the rolling pin like a sword. Lucretia laughed, a sound Lup resolvedto encourage more often.

“So I just roll it?”

“Uh, sorta? You gotta roll it tillit gets to about as thick as you’d want a pie crust to be. Don’t go too hard onit, though.” Somehow, Lup didn’t think Lucretia was the type to go too hard onpie crust. “First we gotta flour up the counter so the dough doesn’t get allsticky.”

Lucretia nodded, her hand twitchingas if to grab the pen tucked in the apron pocket.

“I can tell you this again whenwe’re done if you’re worried about forgetting it before you can write thingsdown,” Lup said. Lucretia startled.

“No, I’m just…used to notation.”

“Hey, no problem with that. I’d betelling you to write away if not for the fact that rolling pins take a hand ortwo.” Of course, that sent Lup’s brain down a tangent about using levitationmagics in cooking, but if she brought up that topic she figured this pie bakingsession would turn into a debate on arcana which was too much nerd for theearly morning. Instead, she handed Lucretia the flour and the other woman triedher best to gently tilt it over on the wooden cutting board.

Lucretia let out a squeak as thebag slipped from her hand, letting out a mushroom cloud of flour as it collidedwith the cutting board. The white powder settled over her like too much snow,and Lup couldn’t keep down her laughter this time. Lucretia shook herself off,depositing the flour in a pile on the floor. A bit hung in the air, however.Lucretia breathed in. Lucretia sneezed.

Lup cackled.

“I’m not very good at this,”Lucretia sighed, her white-tipped nose wrinkling. Lup considered resisting theurge to lean in and plant a kiss on Lucretia’s nose. Lup was not the sort ofperson that resisted urges.

“Oh,” Lucretia said, blinking.

“Did I read the room wrong?” Lupdidn’t think she had. Lucretia had been blushing around Lup all week, and ithadn’t seemed like a platonic sort of blushing.

“N-no,” Lucretia said, her handsflexing for her pen again. “I just thought you and Barry-“

Lup raised an eyebrow. “Honey,Barry doesn’t have a problem with me making friends,” she added an emphasis tothat last word and hoped Lucretia would pick up on it, “after all, there’splenty of Lup to go around.”

“Oh,” Lucretia said again, blinkingeven harder. She spun, pulling a pen from one of her pockets and reaching for ajournal. Lup watched as she scribbled away in the book for a few minutes. Then,she seemed to realize that silence had fallen and looked up. “Sorry, I was justupdating my bond charts.”

“Your bond charts…” Lup started,her grin somehow growing even wider. “Oh my gosh, why do I keep crushing onnerds?”
