Had some time to try and figure out how to put my thoughts into words but the only real words that came out were AAAAAA!
So Doctor Who's The Giggle was pretty great actually. Neil Patrick Harris absolutely kills it and David Tennant, Catherine Tate, and of course everyone else to did amazing. It was a really fun episode with a conclusion I honestly really loved.
Some spoiler talk below:
I really wasn't sure in the moment what I felt about bi-generation but I immediately shook that off because it meant more 14 content and honestly David and Ncuti had such amazing chemistry I'm sad this is the only time (for now) that they've interacted. 14's whole existence feels like a book end to the experiences of the 13th Doctor and I feel like its recontextualised stuff like the Flux and the Timeless Child. We actually have some consequences for it and we can see how its effected the Doctor to a point that they regenerated into an old face just so they could go to Donna for help recovering from everything they've been through while 15 gets to saunter off into time and space. I love that, I think that's the perfect bookend for everything we've seen from Doctor Who from 2005 to 2022. They went through a lot in those years, and 14 gets to sit down and recover while the far healthier 15 is off doing Doctor stuff.
I only have a few points of criticism. The first being that this should have absolutely been a two parter. It probably would have cost us Wild Blue Yonder (which is my favourite out of the 60th anniversary trilogy) but there was so much crammed into this episode and while it didn't feel bloated I think some stuff should have been left to simmer a little longer. It's what I thought was going to initially happen. I was convinced when The Star Beast introduced solar-psychodelia to control a couple of Unit soldiers that then the Toymaker would arrive and somehow use that psychodelia to expand it to the entirety of the human race, bring those episodes together and making them feel more connected in a way. But nah. And honestly I do like what we got but like I said, I wish there was more.
My second point being that, while I think I can happily say 14 is my favourite Doctor and I'm so happy David Tennant returned, these should have been 13's episodes. 13 spent all her season being so closed off that three episodes focused on the Doctor just breaking down after everything, especially the Flux, feels like it was something written for Jodie Whittaker, and I feel like she could have easily managed it. This feels like the ending Jodie should have gotten instead of Power of the Doctor. But hey, we got 14 instead and I don't begrudge the show for it. All just my opinion of course.
Regardless, this had been a very interesting anniversary celebration. We've gotten 3 extra episodes that had the feel of the show during its 2005-2008 run with old fan favourite faces returned for one more run through time and space. Very fun. Loved it. And I can't wait to see what this new era will bring and what's to come with the 15th Doctor.

'David Tennant's bi-generation into Ncuti Gatwa was fervently received by Doctor Who fans this evening (December 9), as Gatwa made his debut as the Fifteenth Doctor.
In the final of the three 60th anniversary specials, titled 'The Giggle', Tennant's Time Lord and Donna Noble found themselves dealing with the Toymaker, played with dark delight by Neil Patrick Harris (Gone Girl).
Armed with a laser beam on a skyscraper's balcony, the Toymaker shouted: "I played the first game with one Doctor, I played the second game with this Doctor, therefore your own rules have decreed I play the third game with the next Doctor!" before shooting him through the chest.
Walking towards the incapacitated Doctor, companion Donna told the villain: "He's not dying alone, you can do what you like to me. I'm gonna be with him," as she and returning classic companion Mel Bush (played by guest star Bonnie Langford) held his hands.
This regeneration sequence differed to the previous ones, though, with the two companions pulling the Doctor's arms so that his next regeneration could squeeze out of him. Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor gazed in amazement at Tennant's Fourteenth as he left his body.
"Bi-generation! I have bi-generated," he announced, before quipping: "There's no such thing, bi-generation is supposed to be a myth..."
Donna then laughed: "Do you come in a range of colours?"
What Doctor Who did next changes everything going forward, with both Doctors continuing to exist at the same time. While Gatwa's Doctor left to traverse the universe in a duplicated TARDIS, Tennant's incarnation decided to settle down on Earth with best friend Donna.
But how did the viewing public react to this changing of the guard?
One fan said: "This is so much better than the normal regeneration, we still have him out there somewhere", while another commented: "I think I liked that. I think I did. That's because something audacious and mad happened with the regeneration and completely threw me! But I was happy with how everything ended and the potential for other adventures. So I think I liked it."
There was also plenty of praise for Gatwa, with one fan saying: "Ncuti Gatwa has real presence and passion on screen. Think he's going to be a great Dr!" and another sharing: "I loved the giggle. One of my favourite episodes ever. I cried, I laughed and was a bit scared at points too! I loved loved loved the regeneration. Ncuti really is the doctor, he jumped into that role straight away!"
Another fan wrote: "I enjoyed tonight's #DoctorWho sooooo much. Neil Patrick Harris was fantastic as the Toymaker. The story veered from genuinely creepy to joyously over-the-top. A wonderful new take on regeneration, and I can't wait to see more of Ncuti as the 15th Doctor!"'

This Month in History - November
There’s quite a few pop culture landmark anniversaries this month, here are a few:
Nov. 2, 1992: Harvest Moon released
Tumblr media
In Nov. 1992, Neil Young’s 19th studio album was released. The 90s was a really great era for Old Neil and this was actually one of my favorites from that prolific era. It has a real classic folk rock sound that harkens back to Old Neil’s best 70s work. Still sounds timeless. Happy 30th HM!

'Doctor Who's latest special, "The Giggle," not only saw David Tennant's departure as the 14th Doctor but introduced a groundbreaking concept in the Time Lord's regeneration process: bi-generation. As Tennant handed the reins to Ncuti Gatwa's 15th Doctor, fans witnessed a unique and confusing twist in the series' canon.
Regeneration Basics for Doctor Who Fans
Die-hard fans of Doctor Who are no strangers to the Time Lords' ability to regenerate, a process allowing the Doctor to transform into a new persona when fatally wounded. This transformation involves adopting a new face and personality while retaining memories and core values.
The Unprecedented Bi-Generation
"The Giggle" brought an anticipated shift as David Tennant's 14th Doctor prepared to regenerate into Ncuti Gatwa's 15th Doctor. However, the standard regeneration took an unexpected turn during a confrontation with Neil Patrick Harris' Toymaker. Struck by a powerful laser, the Doctor initiated the process but halted midway. In a unique bi-generation twist, the Doctor split down the middle, with Tennant and Gatwa coexisting, bringing a new layer of complexity to the series.
Exploring Bi-Generation
The concept of bi-generation, previously believed to be a myth in Time Lord lore, became a reality as the 15th Doctor exclaimed, "There's no such thing, bi-generation is supposed to be a myth. But... Look at me." The cause of this unprecedented split remains unclear, yet both Doctors joined forces to confront the lingering threat of the Toymaker.
Two Doctors, One Duplicated TARDIS
After defeating the Toymaker, the Doctors faced the challenge of sharing a single TARDIS. However, another surprise awaited them – the TARDIS itself had undergone bi-generation. A swift hit with a hammer duplicated the time machine, complete with minor alterations like a new jukebox and a wheelchair ramp.
Two Different Paths
With the dilemma of one TARDIS, the Doctors embarked on divergent paths. The 14th Doctor contemplated the weight of his millennia-long existence, choosing a retirement of sorts on Earth with the Nobles. Expressing newfound happiness with his adopted family, the Doctor hinted at a potentially temporary break from his adventures.
Meanwhile, the 15th Doctor geared up for a new era, adjusting TARDIS lights and initiating journeys, signaling a departure from Tennant's action-filled tenure.
What's Next for Doctor Who?
As Doctor Who progresses, Ncuti Gatwa's 15th Doctor takes center stage, with his solo adventures set to unfold in the upcoming Christmas special, "The Church on Ruby Road." The actor has already filmed Christmas specials for 2023 and 2024, Season 14, and production is underway for Season 15 in 2025.
While David Tennant bids farewell, the door remains slightly ajar for potential future appearances, leaving room for speculation reminiscent of the Curator introduced a decade ago. As the 60th-anniversary specials stream on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer, the future of Doctor Who promises further surprises and time-defying twists...'
