Pairings: Tom Holland x Deaf/HoH!Reader
Warnings: None
Summary: Tom learns sign language so he can communicate more easily with you.
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: I am Hearing. I studied ASL for two years and had quite a few Deaf/ HoH friends but I moved across the country and unfortunately have regressed in my knowledge of the language because I’ve had a hard time getting reacquainted. I had a difficult time writing this because I know that the Deaf/ HoH community has such a large range of ability to hear, speak, write, and/or lip read. I tried really hard to assume as little about the reader as possible but for the sake of this fic, I did not include any verbalization on the reader’s end or details on perception of sound. I also had a difficult time trying to figure out how to describe what was being signed, as I wasn’t sure whether or not to write it in English or gloss because I didn’t want to perpetuate the idea that ASL is just English signed word for word but I wasn’t sure if it would be more confusing written in gloss. ALSO I’m aware that this would most likely be taking place in the UK and I described American Sign Language but that’s simply because I don’t know any British Sign Language. Anyways, please let me know if this was alright or accurate or inaccurate and please inform me on how to write better fics like this! I’m open to criticism and to learning more about this but please don’t be rude about it.
_______________________________________
Tom arrived at Haz’s new apartment way before anyone else had to help set up for his housewarming party. It wasn’t a huge affair, only about fifteen or so of his closer friends, but he still wanted everything to look presentable.
People began to show up around seven-thirty that night and soon it was all snacks and drinks and hanging out with everyone. For the most part, Tom found himself at least acquainted with most of the people there, since he and Haz were practically inseparable so it was a fairly comfortable party.
“You are never allowed to drink that much beer again, Harry, I swear.” Tom spoke, reminiscing about the night before with a bit of a cringe tainted laugh.
Harry looked offended, “I was not that bad!”
“You were dancing on the table and waving your fucking shirt in the air!” Haz continued the story between sips of his beer, “I swear, I let you come over to my new place and you nearly wreck the place.”
Sam chimed in, “Honestly, I’m embarrassed to be your twin sometimes.”
Harry’s hands flew up in defense, “Okay, okay, don’t you blokes go acting like you weren’t all drinking either! I was not the only one who had a little too much!”
The group of men laughed and joked, remembering Harry dancing like a stripper with his shirt off on the table. He did have a point: None of them were exactly sober the night before.
Just as Haz was about to say something, Tom saw him look at the door over his shoulder, “Oh, wait. Someone just got here. Let me say hi real quick.”
Tom let his gaze follow Haz as he walked over to the door, which had opened to reveal you standing there with a bottle of wine, looking like the most beautiful girl at the event, at least to Tom. He watched your face light up with a smile as you waved at Haz. He leaned down to hug you tightly and-
“Wow, Tom, stare a little harder, why don’t you.” Harry laughed.
Tom whipped his attention back to his brothers, “What? I wasn’t staring.” He scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest with a feigned attempt to look nonchalant.
He was staring.
Sam gestured behind Tom with his cup, “Well, you better stop being weird cause she’s coming over here now.”
“What?” Tom asked, eyes wide as he turned to check but by that time, Haz had already brought you and another blonde girl over to meet the group.
“Tom, Harry, Sam, this is Y/N and Katy. I think you’ve met Katy before, though. Right, Tom?” Haz introduced you and your best friend Katy to the three other men.
Tom nodded, “Yeah, I think we’ve met but hi again anyways.” He laughed as he shook Katy’s hand again just to complete the interaction. He got to you and shook your hand. “Hi, I’m Tom.”
You took his hand with a smile but when he was finished speaking, he watched in momentary confusion that quickly turned to curiosity when you pointed to yourself and then (with a pointed finger moved from your ear to your chin/ moved two fingers from right to left).
“Sign language? Oh shoot, I don’t- I can’t-” Tom stuttered, not really knowing what to say.
You gently waved a single hand in front as if to say, Don’t worry about it. Tom watched as you tapped your thumb against your chest with an open five palm. Then you held up one finger. Wait a second. You dove down to grab your phone and quickly began tapping.
“She says it’s fine, just wait a sec.” Katy translated for Tom, just in case he didn’t understand the very obvious signs like Hearing people often didn’t.
Tom looked at her, “You know sign language too?” He asked in surprise and amazement.
Katy nodded, “I’m an interpreter. Me and Y/N actually met at an event that I was interpreting for and we’ve been friends ever since.”
“Oh, so do you interpret for her?” He asked, watching in amazement as her hands moved as she spoke, signing along with what both she and Tom were saying. He glanced over to see you waiting with your phone in hand, watching as she signed.
She shook her head, “No, we’re just friends. I mean I help out in times like right now where there’s a conversation between Hearing people so she’s included but she’s capable of communicating herself.”
You took that as your cue to hand him your phone:
Hi! I’m Y/N but I think Haz already said that. Yes, I am (Deaf/ Hard of Hearing) but if you want to talk we can write :)
Tom read the message quickly and looked up to see you waiting patiently for him with a kind smile.
Hi :) I’m Tom. I’d love to keep chatting. Sorry I can’t sign :(
You took the phone back and giggled: It’s fine. Most people can’t. I can show you your name if you want?
Tom read the message and nodded excitedly, “Yeah that would be cool!” He voiced, cringing when he did. He wasn’t used to communicating like this.
You laughed at his flusteredness. On a bad night, maybe the communication barrier would have annoyed you. Of course it got annoying having to baby step every single person who didn’t sign through this process. But there was something about Tom that you found cute.
Slowly, you walked him through the signs. Your… name… T-O-M.
He followed, trying his hardest not to mess up. He was even doing pretty well with the exception of mixing up his “T” and “M” with “N.” But he persisted, nonetheless, and got it pretty quickly.
The way he looked so proud of himself made you giggle and you twisted both hands in the air, celebratorily. You texted back to him: Good job!
That was probably terrible but thank you, he responded with a laughing emoji.
The rest of that night had been filled with you and Tom talking quite a bit over a few glasses of wine. The conversation became natural quickly, even over text, which was an adjustment for Tom but he felt that you made it easy. You were nice and easy to talk to. Even after the night ended, Tom found himself wanting to see you again.
“So how did you and Y/N meet? I mean, I didn’t think you knew sign language?” Tom asked Haz the next morning, helping him clean up from the night before.
Haz shook his head, “I didn’t. I still don’t know much, honestly. But I was friends with Katy and I met Y/N at one of her parties and, I don’t know, we just sorta became friends. Katy’s been helping me learn sign but we still mostly just text to each other cause my signing is terrible.” He laughed.
“Do you think you could teach me what you know? I want to be able to actually talk to her, y’know? Make it easier for her.” Tom asked, placing the chip bowls from last night in the dishwasher.
Haz stopped sweeping the dining room long enough to make an immature face at Tom, “You like her! I freaking knew it!”
“So what if I do? She was really nice!” Tom wasn’t having any of Haz’s teasing, especially when it was all true anyways. Why deny it?
Haz nodded, smiling at the way his best friend looked just thinking about you, “Yeah, she is pretty nice, isn’t she? Don’t worry, mate. I’ll teach you what I know.”
You and Tom had gone almost a month without seeing each other again. It wasn’t until you and Katy had just happened to run into him and Haz at a bar that your paths crossed.
Tom and Haz sat in a booth in the back of the bar, celebrating a new role Tom had landed with a few drinks. “Hey! Look who’s here!” Haz drew Tom’s attention to the bar where you and Katy had just sat, “Katy!” He yelled just slightly above the noise.
Katy looked over her shoulder around the bar until she saw the person calling her name. Her face lit up and she waved before tapping you on the shoulder. You glanced over your shoulder to see where she was pointing, waving at Tom and Haz when you saw them. The two men waved you over, inviting the two of you to sit with them. Once the bartender slid your drinks across the bar to you, you and your best friend joined them.
Tom’s heart sped up a little when you slid into the booth beside him while Katy sat on the other side beside Haz. Before anyone could really say anything, Tom caught your attention, thinking for just a moment before signing, “Nice to see you again.”
Your eyes widened in surprise. “You learned sign?” You asked, shocked. Tom looked like a deer in headlights when you signed back and he tapped his fingertips against the palm of his other hand. Again? Slower this time, you signed, “You learned sign? Understand?”
Tom looked adorably proud of himself when he understood, moving his fist up and down, “Yes. A little.”
You began to blush a little and your face sparkled, as if to say no way! “Thank you! That’s so cool!”
Tom loved how expressive you were, how even with a language barrier between you two, he could still understand at least part of what you were saying.
You and Tom found yourselves caught up in each other again for the rest of the night, him trying his hardest to communicate in your language, even if it was still a little messy and imperfect. Nevertheless, you couldn’t believe he’d actually taken the time and effort to learn sign language for you! It was definitely flattering to say the least.
Seeing their best friends so enamored with each other, Haz and Katy watched the two of you. “I haven’t seen her like this with a boy in forever. She’s been talking about him non-stop since your party.” Katy ratted you out, not really even having to whisper since you and Tom were so concerned with your own conversation that neither of you would have noticed they were speaking anyways.
Haz nodded, “Same with him. He’s been practicing almost every day so he could talk to her.”
“I think we just accidentally played matchmaker.” Katy laughed, “Ten pounds says they’ll be dating by the end of the month.”
The blonde man scoffed, “Ten pounds says they’ll be dating by the end of the week.”

(drabble) Helena and Elle. "Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor. I couldn't want you any more tonight."
kiss in the kitchen like it’s a dance floor. i couldn’t want you anymore tonight
The first time Elle meets Helena is at Kelly and Becca’s engagement party. Elle had spilled champagne all over her top, and Helena had been the only one to help her clean up. It’d been nice. They’d talked, made bets over who’d give the first drunken speech (“Will, obviously.” “I don’t know, Allie and Harry just broke up, and I’m pretty sure Harry pre-gamed before this.”) and, at the end of the night Helena had slipped Elle her phone number.
Elle’s surprised they didn’t meet sooner, wonders if they did meet, forever ago, at some party or event or coffee shop. She doubts it, though. She’d remember Helena.
The second time they run into each other is three months later is at a housewarming party Harry and Allie are hosting.
“How long until they break up again?” Helena had said, coming to stand beside Elle, a plate of food in one hand. It’d been so casual, and a flutter appeared in Elle’s chest, faint but there. She took a deep breath.
“Harry heard Cassandra ask that same exact thing, so they might just get married to spite her.”
Helena snorts, and Elle smiles, and they spend the rest of the night sitting on the couch talking, promises made for something like this to happen again soon.
And so the third time they’re together is less than a week later and finally on purpose at some small bakery Elle worked at her freshman year of college. They pick up a box of pastries, and Helena invites Elle over to her place.
“It’s just down the block. You don’t have to if you already have plans but--”
“No,” Elle cuts in, quick, almost frantic. “I don’t have plans, I mean. I’d love to go over to your place.”
Helena smiles, something soft, there, undeniably there, but also… “Okay.”
In Helena’s kitchen, in front of a half empty box of pastries on the counter next to a bottle wine that was opened and then forgotten about, in front of a sink that keeps dripping and a fridge that rattles the cabinets next to it, Elle kisses Helena, all in a rush, quiet after, apologetic.
“I’m sorry. That was--”
“That was nice,” Helena says, leaning slightly on the counter. There’s a crumb on her lip from a chocolate croissant. Elle reaches to wipe it away. She tries to remember the last time she felt like this. She can’t.
send me a lyric and a pairing and i’ll write you a drabble

It had been nearly a decade since he saw them perform live, and this was something he was genuinely looking forward to.
Louis shook his head and cringed inward at his disappointment.

4) Poppies in May | Mature | 9576 words

BEFORE DECEMBER 25th, 2017,
Born to wealth and the moderate degree of status, importance, and all the things that glittered that came with it. The whole package as it were. ‘You’ve got the luck of the devil himself, Daniel.’ Though, turns out too much of a good thing really can turn sour. He was six when his younger sister was born—Emily Song, a healthy happy babe all precious giggles and rosy cheeks. By that point, Daniel was so over the apple pie idea of a family that the TV had painted a pretty of for he and every other child in America. He was never sure his pieces quite fit, as though something was missing. But Emily? Emily was the only piece that felt right.
Maybe it was because she too was a blank slate. Or that she was the one constant in a house of rotating caregivers whilst his parents worked near constant hours away from home and country. Shouldn’t you be proud of your Momma and Papa, Danny boy? Out there sweating for the little people and saving lives? But what about me? A crushing desperate angry hunger within his child body that seemed to never know satisfaction despite the full plate of food atop the table before him. Quiet days and near dead silent nights within the seemingly impossibly huge three-story home only fueled a greater desire for something he truly had no name for.
There had always been an unspoken expectation to follow in his Father’s footsteps. A great man, strive to save lives and all that is good in life. While never cruel, never neglectful—simply absent. An expected outcome for any couple, even if their romance happened in a mere parade of snapshots. He wanted to be great, he wanted to give and give and give—if only so that someone else not feel the distinct wanting that he had. A vague hope, that if gave and gave that eventually something, however small; would be given in return. A smile, a laugh, a hug—thank you thank you.
He was fourteen when he received the new his parents had been ‘lost at sea’. Their plane suffering a catastrophic malfunction that downed them between points A and B.
Their lives signed off to next of kin, strangers moving into their family home. Faces they’d never seen. Never knew despite ‘Your parents were always so busy! Why I haven’t seen you since you were this tall.’ He didn’t know what to do with such life, such noise and colour. As if starting high school wasn’t a stressful enough situation, rumours flying of shipping him overseas to some private academy or another—a bitter laugh of what if he too gets lost at sea?
Daniel wished he had learned earlier, just how much gold can twist men into wicked creatures.
But, he did have Emily.
There wasn’t much of anything he wouldn’t do for his sister. An unhealthy relation some would say but as their home became more and more foreign she was once again the only constant in his life. His high school years, an uneventful stint. There were awards, pride in the eyes of his teachers and the ‘That’s what a good pedigree will get you!’ spoken by his peers. The moment he could, he abandoned ship, whisking Emily and himself as far away from their home as they could.
An impressive inheritance gifted to him on his eighteenth birthday provided him the funds for this upheaval a second wind would be coming on Emily’s own eighteenth year. Until then, the pair lived out of a modest apartment in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Not wanting to squander the very limited wealth left to him, Daniel took up a series of casual jobs. Mostly construction, maintenance, and general odd jobs around the building and city for a passable buck; occasionally lucking out on shift work at a nearby bar. It was at such a bar he met Officer Brent Parker.
You’ve got the devil’s own luck indeed. The one and only night he’d been allowed to work behind the counter instead of mopping floors and cleaning sick and piss from the floors in the washroom—Officer Parker and company poured on through their doors looking to scratch an itch and Honest Steve’s cramped bar just happened to be the cheapest watering hole around. Eager to please what passed for upstanding customers in his eye he waited on their every need. Even giving them so much of a fine discount for the laugh they managed to coax out of him.
He was smitten.
With the idea of something more. Working at Honest Steve’s (and the guy wasn’t even named Steve) straightened out every skill he had, truly a jack of all trades job that demanded charisma, strength, and an agreeable sense of integrity to say the least. Daniel had manhandled his fair share of drunkards out to the curb, bore the weight of insults and derogatory words heaped on him, and was ready for the next customer with an easy grin in place.
It was a chapter of his life he yearned to keep secret from Emily, making time even after back to back shifts to attend her school events. Her classes and even showing up for several memorable parent teacher meetings whilst he tugged awkwardly at his foreign Sunday’s best. She wanted to be a nurse. She wanted to help people. Emily spent her weekends tugging him away to a volunteer event at the nearby hospital, Emily pulled him along to the animal shelter, wherever she wanted to go—he was happy to follow.
“Don’t you want anything for yourself?” she asked him one night over dinner and he didn’t know what to feel when no answer came forth.
When Officer Parker came back to his bar all charm and hot action movie stories, Daniel took a leap of faith and asked about becoming one of the boys in blue. He showed up at the next enrollment early, sitting straight in a plastic waiting room seat to fill out paperwork. Worried about his qualifications, felt an awful lot like he was applying for some prestigious university.
Keaton Harris of Honest Steve’s openly honest and fine drinking establishment wasn’t too keen on letting him go, but; like the name—he bled an awful lot of honesty for an establishment that turned a blind eye to a fair sum of illegal happenstances and gave him a glowing series of references citing impossibly overblown instances enough to make Daniel go red for a near hour every time he thought about it. But, he passed the written tests—he passed the physical. He was hardly number one, but he wasn’t no dead last either. Not only was he older than a fair few of his fellow applicants, but he lacked their considerable resume as well.
No prior combat experience outside of what passed for violence in a brawl (which, incidentally; was some truly terrible things). No post secondary degrees or certifications. Just a whole lot of heart in every breath. And sometimes, that’s enough—it’s a painful slap in the face, a breath of fresh air in finding someone so eager to serve.
A moment of celebration that was painfully short lived when he came home to Emily telling him she planned to go out of state for university.
He wasn’t her Father. He couldn’t forbid this. Though every fibre in him demanded he do so, hands desperate to clutch her close to home lest she too be stolen away from him. But, she would be turning eighteen shortly after graduation. She already had her acceptance letter. She already had a future. A taste of envy so powerful nearly overcame him but, he painted a smile on his face—nothing mattered more than Emily. And nothing would hurt him more than being robbed of her happiness. So, helped her pick out everything for her dorm. Talked with her soon to be roommate over Facebook, took a hundred photos with her about the city—made her promise to email every week and call as often as she could.
There was a very real fear of suffocating her. That when free of his presence in her life, she would forget about him. Emily would smile and laugh, and all his worries would disappear. He drove her across several states to Nebraska where he helped her set up her dorm, helped her roommate unpack as well ‘So nice having some proper muscle around, Em! Tell me, does he do personal requests too?’
It was easier then, to wake up and go to work. To not have to worry about the other body in his house even if the overwhelming emptiness of the place sometimes got to him. He moved to sunnier streets, a higher rise apartment in New York City following a requested transfer where he spent the better part of his first day staring out over the sprawling city from his apartment balcony. A housewarming party that Emily attended with her dormmate Lauren. She brought a truly awful looking plant. And then she proceeded to bring a new godawful plant every time she visited until his window ledge was decorated proper with them. He was accepted in S.W.A.T. where he could push himself harder and harder, where he could feel as though he belonged. His desk at work soon bore the overflow from his window ledge at home, a photo of him and Emily making faces at the camera sat just to the right of his desktop. Officer Parker still called him the odd time to check in on him, and he’d just caved under his co-worker’s pressure to enroll in the apparently new and hip trend of online dating especially if he wasn’t going to cave in and return the interest of the latest intern to slip into the station with big eyes and easy smiles.
It was…good. Life was good.
AFTER DECEMBER 25th, 2017,
Daniel wasn’t much of a social media guy. He liked to go online to keep in contact with people, to share stories and be a shoulder to cry on for those in need. Sometimes, he liked to join puzzle and mystery games with strangers but that was something of a dirty secret. So, it took Emily mentioning it in passing during one of their scheduled calls for the reality of things to slap him in the face. She sounded worried. She sounded scared. Bergan Mercy Hospital was showing an impossible influx of patients both paranoid and otherwise justifiably concerned.
The city slowly started to show its true colours as the station was swamped with more and more incoming calls from panicked civilians. Crime spiked to an all time high and further news and evidence flooded the internet. People started to see it as the end of days, and as such: the end of such silly things as consequences. On near constant duty, Daniel hadn’t seen the inside of his apartment in days by the time the diseased started to find their ways to their city streets. It’s supposed to be Christmas, a time to celebrate. Good will and good cheer, and all that. He hadn’t talked to Emily in days, his worry for her near eating him alive. She’s not here. She’s not in any place like New York so it’s okay Daniel. It’s okay.
Their phones went down. The network so overrun with calls that it simply collapsed into a constant loop of an automated messaging system. Officers went missing or simply never showed up. Several other emergency personnel stopped reporting in. There were civilians on their front steps seeking safety, protection—if ever there was a time to protect and serve…
Daniel didn’t know much about any other story from New York. He only knows his chapter, the fall of his station as it was overrun by the dead. The thick Kevlar and layers of his S.W.A.T. armor likely the only thing that saved his life. But even so, he’d seen too many of his brothers and sisters go down to teeth, hands ripping and tearing. There was no order. It was only chaos, everything happening in an instant as the barricades fell and the impressive population of New York City flooded their doors. A handful of survivors made it out, running blind only thinking about survival—there was no hope to contain it. To be able to circle back around and it hurts him so deeply to know there truly was nothing he could have done.
Spending the early days and weeks of the outbreak simply trying to survive Daniel tried everything he could to get word out to Emily. All he had was a series of increasingly worrying voice messages to listen to until his phone lost battery. He was limited on supplies in a dying city. It took days to simply even get out of the dead zones, passing through once thriving safe zones and choke points overrun with the dead. Key supplies lost forever as he looked through a pair of binoculars into the torn apart camps, the military transports stopped dead in crowded streets. What few survivors he did see, fled on sight; even in the apartments he broke into in passing did he find no friendly faces. Just more and more dead.
It took nearly a month of travel to get from the bowels of the city out into Omaha. A long dead cellphone in the pocket of his pants. Salvaging what he could whenever he could. Seeing far too much carnage and chaos for his mind to safely contain. Simply fixated on reaching his destination the only thing that ever pulled him from his goal was a cry for help. Some desperate human response—that often, he was told by the people he saved that they never expected anyone to come. He looked at their tears, the raw fear and gratitude mingling in their expressions and only ached.
Some remained traveling with him for a time, finding comfort in his person. In the armor he wore. The weapons he carried. They craved the direction and order he provided, some flavour of normalcy—of the world before, that they desperately wanted to hold once again. Several of these individuals broke off at the camps he stopped at along the way, parting ways with tight embraces the likes unheard of in the world before between strangers.
On nothing more than hope, he arrived at Bergan Mercy Hospital to find it overrun. Which…didn’t match with the reports other campsites at given him. There were people in there. Somewhere. Emily Emily Emily.
It was a trader heading back in that showed him the way, a sprint through the hands and teeth of the undead in the waiting area—their numbers dropped a fair sum by his own hand until he was steered away—‘Don’t bother, more always come.’
Emily wasn’t one of the remaining hospital staff inside. He hadn’t….he hadn’t seen her in the waiting room. Her car was in the parking lot outside (he checked, he obsessively checked) which meant that she was inside somewhere.
Daniel loathes sitting still, but he’s a welcome addition to the team with the firepower, information, and general experience he brings to the table. It seems no one really wants to touch upon the subject of his sister, most turning away from the picture he provides forth in desperation with pity in their eyes. He’s eager to explore the wings of the hospital, to clear them out—others call it a suicidal desire. He calls it wanting closure one way or another.
He hadn’t been present for the culling of the intensive care patients and if he had been, he’s firm in his stance that he wouldn’t have stood for it. Which, has only furthered ire against him—they were people, people like us—we go and do that, we aren’t any better than the monsters outside the door waiting for us. But…he knows, he knows he’s no different. He ran from that station despite the heaviness of his heart. Despite hearing his friends call out for him, scream for help, scream in pain, and simply scream and scream and scream.
His heart governs him more than anything else, leaves him blind to the grim reality of the situation at hand. But, it also brought him to this doorstep where he intends to be of use. For now, he’s usually seen on patrol or heading out on the odd scavenge run for extra security—Emily’s photo kept close to his heart.

#140 with Harry x Reader please! (He needs some TLC after GC)
Pairing: Reader x Harry HartWarnings: None.Word Count: 522Prompts: “Promise me you’ll stay.”
You smiled as you put the plates back in the cabinet and turned to face Harry. He’d invited you over for dinner tonight, and, after the events that had taken place in America, you couldn’t say no. You two had been casually dating for a while before he’d been shot.
You slipped back into your lifestyle with him pretty easily when you arrived back in London. He’d found a new place and made it as homely as possible rather quickly. This, in his opinion, was a version of a housewarming. Except that it was only the two of you.
You walked over to Harry and wrapped your arms around his waist. “I enjoyed that,” you mused. He’d cooked dinner and, luckily, the headshot hadn’t dimmed his amazing cooking abilities. You still loved everything he cooked.
Harry smiled at you. “I’m very glad you did, darling. I put my heart and soul into it.”
“I could tell,” you replied. “I appreciate it.”
He pressed a kiss to your forehead and detached himself from you before walking into the living room across the hall. You rather liked his new place - it wasn’t as good as his old house, but you were growing to love this one too.
You followed him into the living room, your eyebrows furrowing as you saw him standing by the window, his arms crossed as he looked out at the London traffic and nightlife.
“Can you promise me something?” Harry asked, not turning to look at him.
You nodded, stopping a few steps behind him. “Anything.”
“Promise me you’ll stay.”
You stepped up closer to him, wrapping your arm through his and leaning against his side. “I’m not going anywhere, Harry,” you promised. “Not tonight. Not ever.”
He looked down at you and pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “Not ever?”
“You’ve got me forever, Harry Hart. You can count on that.”

Unwilling to show up as single as he is, he invites Blaise to go with him, to play his pretend boyfriend. Will they be able to pull it off? I hope it’s an amazing one! :D <333 Her request: Blaise/Draco fake dating au with bed sharing. This story really kind of ran away with me...Haha! So rather than being able to gift the whole thing at once, I'm going to have to post it chapter-by-chapter. At the moment, it looks like it's going to be seven in all! I hope everyone enjoys this first installment--and if you do, I hope you'll stick around for the rest, too!
Read on AO3
It was a relatively typical Saturday morning in the Malfoy-Zabini-Parkinson household. The savory smells of breakfast wafted in the air as sunlight gradually inched its way across the floor. Celestina Warbeck warbled on the wireless in the living room. In the kitchen, Blaise could be found cooking eggs and sausages, fully dressed, as he'd been up for a couple hours now. Draco had made a fresh pot of coffee--having stumbled in only a few minutes prior, still in his pajamas--and Pansy had set the table.
When they all went to tuck in, there came a tap at the window: an official-looking post owl bringing them the day's mail. It took the biscuit Pansy offered with a dignified ruffling of its feathers before flying off again, leaving her with a pile of envelopes that she deposited at the center of the table before taking her seat. Draco flipped through the stack of letters while he ate, most of which were bills he set aside for later. Blaise glanced at each one with as much disdain as he.
Pansy had received a letter from Daphne, telling her all about the new home she and Theo had recently purchased. She was intending to throw them both a housewarming party, and asked if Blaise and Draco would assist her in that endeavour. The latter, for one, was thrilled; parties were definitely his forte.
There was a lengthy correspondence from Draco's mother that he'd been expecting, but he couldn't possibly summon the energy for such a thing this early. It would likely be about his father's upcoming court date--his requested appearance at which he'd been dreading. They were to decide whether or not to lift his probation sooner than originally intended, given his "good" behavior during that time. Draco was of the opinion that he should thank his lucky stars that he'd only gotten that--and the fact that his own son had been only partially ignoring his existence since the war ended--and be done with it. He set it aside with the bills, for when he'd have the mental fortitude not to write back what he really thought on the matter.
Blaise, likewise, set a letter from his mother aside, but not without griping about how it was probably just unnecessary details from her honeymoon with her new husband. Draco couldn't help but grin to himself, and he and Pansy shared a look and suppressed laughter across the table. Sometimes it was nice to be reminded that they weren't the only ones with borderline crazy parents.
There was one in the bunch, however, that seemed out of place. A cream envelope, with blush accents and stately handwriting in gold ink. Draco flicked a spell at the seal to break it and carefully removed the thick stationary it contained. Pansy and Blaise were back to talking about Daphne and Theo's party, but he was no longer listening. He unfolded the card one-handed, running his thumb across the interesting raised texture of it, while the other scraped idly across his plate. It almost looked like it was...But no, it couldn't be. Who would've sent it, anyway? He didn't know anyone who was--
The blonde’s fork promptly dropped from his hand onto his plate with a clatter. His mouth, which had been waiting to receive the scoop of eggs resting on it, remained open. Certain he'd misread something along the way, his eyes scanned the contents of the letter again.
"Draco? Are you alright? What's happened?"
He hadn't noticed that the room had gone quiet until Pansy had addressed him, but he was still too engrossed in the letter in his hand to be capable of providing her with an answer. Instead, Blaise chuckled and snatched the parchment from him. "Let me see that." He hadn't been reading it for more than a second or two before he whispered an incredulous, "Holy shit."
"Right?"
"What is it?"
"I can't believe they actually did that..."
"I know! I can't imagine why they would…"
"What is it?" Pansy pressed again, to which the darker gentleman cleared his throat and began:
"Mister Draco Lucius Malfoy," he read aloud, amusement mounting as each line was unveiled, "you and a guest are cordially invited to the wedding of Miss Ginevra Molly Weasley to Mister Harry James Potter on the 6th of April, 2002--"
"They didn’t," Pansy gasped in shock before he could even finish.
"I’m as surprised as you are," Draco assured her, a nervous chuckle ringing in his tone.
It was no secret, these days, that he and the famous Potter had made their amends. Once the war had ended, and the Dark Lord's constant, looming threats over his family were a thing of the past, Draco had been the first of several on their side of things to renounce the old ways and admit that he'd been forcibly coerced into the actions he'd taken at the time. The Golden Trio, as it were, weren't as reluctant to stick up for him at his trial as he'd expected, after that. They did the same at his parents', as well--it was probably the only reason his father had gotten off so easily, and he often itched to remind him of such. Following that, many of the students in their year had returned to Hogwarts in order to finish up the education they'd missed out on; being forced to occupy a dorm with the man had furthered reconciliations that Draco hadn't thought possible before then. His fellow Slytherins liked to pretend, every so often, that they still turned their noses up at anyone from a different house, or a "lower" blood status, but everyone knew better; Draco himself could recall many a time he'd seen them sharing lunch and a laugh with one or more of the others. He knew, in fact, that to this very day, Pansy met up with Granger as often as she could. And whether or not she'd ever admit to the real reason behind those meetings, that remained to be seen--but it certainly hadn't gone unnoticed by either of her roommates the way, as of late, that she'd tend to stammer and blush whenever the clever Gryffindor was brought up.
Of course, every witch and wizard from there to China had already known for some time--since the lavish engagement party the Ministry had thrown in their honor a few months back--that the Harry Potter was finally tying the knot. And with another such renowned war hero as Ginny Weasley, at that. The Auror department was several floors down from Draco's own office in Magical Games and Sports, but he ran into Potter from time to time, and obviously his fiancée as well, now that she played for the Harpies. However, despite all of that, this sudden news--that was currently lounging across their breakfast table like a fat, bubblegum pink erumpent--was the very last thing he would've ever anticipated. A chat here and there over champagne at work functions, forced niceties when they crossed paths in the corridors or in the lift, were one thing. To ask Draco to attend their wedding? Now that was another…
"Says it'll be at that hotel MacMillan opened in Kent," Blaise continued. "How quaint."
Pansy peered at Draco over the rim of her coffee mug, eyes narrowed in curiosity. "You gonna go, then?"
"They actually took the bloody time to invite me, I feel almost like I have to, you know what I mean?" He accepted the invitation back from Blaise and looked it over once more. The venue was a nice one, at the very least. He'd heard about the establishment the former Hufflepuff had built recently; he seemed to be doing well for himself with the business, and if the rumors were true, the wedding would probably turn out to be quite fancy indeed under his supervision. It was a few hours away, but as he read further, he saw the note about portkeys being made available to the guests, and that the rooms would all be held just for them--at a discounted rate. Well, that was convenient. It was still odd, to be sure, but he could probably make this work...But then he paused on a part he must've missed, in his shock:
"'You and a guest'..." he mused aloud, chewing on his bottom lip in thought. 'He and a guest'? Implying a significant other of some kind. Of which he didn't have, presently. An old flame sparked to life in his chest--one that he often liked to believe had been permanently extinguished, usually to his dismay. "Well, I can’t very well go stag, can I?"
"Why not?" Pansy was quick to ask.
"It says 'you and a guest,'" he replied matter-of-factly, as if that explained everything. She rolled her eyes in return.
"You know that's just a formality, don't you? They're offering on the off chance you do have someone you'd invite to go with you, but it doesn't mean you have to."
"Yes, but the implication--"
"Implication of what? There's nothing wrong with being single. I'm sure they don't actually expect you to come with someone."
"I know, but..."
He and Potter had made their amends. He'd made amends with all of them. He wasn't the spoiled little boy he once was. He liked to think that that meant they were past their petty adolescent rivalries. But as much as he’d tried to school himself into doing otherwise, he couldn’t help the invariably nagging need to be better: to have the better job, the better house, the better relationship. The latter of which he was currently--sadly--lacking. For whatever reason, he just couldn't bear the shameful idea of showing up alone...Potter had the Weasley girl, her elder brothers each had someone, as far as he knew, Granger may or may not have had Pansy--and here he was, unshowered and still in his pajamas at half ten. Sure, he had a great job--one he'd been grateful to even have a chance at, with his past--but the truth was that he, oftentimes, was still a rich kid who'd never thought he'd have to work a day in his life to begin with, and who was barely figuring himself out, even at this stage. Good-looking and well-employed though he was, it hadn't been enough to get a bloke to stick around for more than a couple lusty nights in over a year. Which could say more about his choice in men lately than himself, of course, but still. Seemed like everyone around him was pairing up these days, getting their acts together, and he just couldn't allow himself to show up at a wedding, for Merlin's sake--the epitome of being a mature, well-rounded, romantically-stable human being, or so it appeared--as the walking poster boy for bachelordom.
"If you really must, you could always take someone as a friend," Blaise offered as he helped himself to another slice of toast.
Draco wrinkled his nose at the idea. "I’d rather not take someone as ‘just a friend.’ That’d look rather pathetic, wouldn’t it, at a wedding?"
"Oh?" Pansy asked with a condescendingly quirked eyebrow as she made her way back to the counter for a refill of coffee. "Well, who would you be taking, then: one of us? Or perhaps both, that’d sure create a stir."
It was a good question. There was no one--at this point in time, anyway--in his "little black book," per se, that it wouldn’t be odd for him to owl for such a thing. No one on the backburner that wouldn’t take the invitation to mean that he was asking for them to be...monogamous. Perhaps he could take Pansy? She’d probably say yes, and she was so like a sister to him, there wouldn’t be any strings attached. Plus, she’d played the game well enough when they’d dated at school. But on second thought, no, that wouldn’t work at all; despite her flippant demeanor, he could see the cogs turning in her head, wondering when Granger might deem to ask her to accompany her to this thing as well. Not to mention, he’d been out for some time now, and although he would’ve gladly argued with anyone that sexuality wasn’t necessarily a static thing for all involved, he knew there was no way anyone would buy it. Hell, were the tables turned, he wouldn’t either. So there was no boy toy to convince to "make nice" for an evening, no proper, pureblooded witch to have on his arm...And thus that really only left one option…
It wasn’t exactly a bad option; Blaise Zabini did just so happen to be one of the finest male specimens around, or so the gossip had always ran. And he’d never been hard on the eyes. However, Draco resented the idea that because they were "like minded," and best mates, that they, naturally, should be shagging each other. He’d gotten into it with a couple people before, when they’d been rude enough to drop the suggestion. It was just...It wasn't as if he'd never thought about it. Blaise was handsome, intelligent, well-spoken. Shared a lot of Draco's interests. They got on well a majority of the time. Besides the fact that they lived together, they spent practically all of their free time with each other; not even Pansy got to be with either of them that much. A few times there, he'd actually thought that maybe...But no, he'd always known that he was mistaken, any time he got that feeling from the other man, even if he liked to think that he wasn't. Far be it from him to ruin a friendship over something that frivolous, anyway. Companionship, support, understanding--these were things he'd only been able to find in abundance in the two seated before him, in Theo, maybe the Greengrass girls. Needless to say, it wasn't exactly easy, making friends, when one was a former Death Eater. And he'd much rather not destroy everything they had together now for what would probably end up being an awkward, drunken fumble at best--or maybe even a really good one-night-stand, if he was lucky.
Still, he wanted to show up to this wedding looking like he had his life more figured out than he actually did. Having the gorgeous Blaise Zabini at his side would certainly do the trick.
"You wouldn’t want to go with me, would you, Blaise?" Draco found himself saying, quietly, almost a mutter as his teeth tore at his left thumbnail. He was almost afraid to meet Blaise's gaze when his eyes snapped up from his plate, but the strange light shining in them at those words held his attention.
"As your friend, or…?"
"You know what I mean." A little lopsided smirk formed at one corner of Blaise's lips, and Draco swallowed against his rising heartbeat. "I mean, I don't mean like that," he hurried to correct himself as his friend's disturbingly knowing grin grew, "I mean…posing as my...my boyfriend. Not really, of course, but just so...You wouldn’t, would you?" he repeated, painfully aware of how unsure he sounded now.
Blaise was studying him, his dark eyes still twinkling with something Draco couldn't identify. Now he felt foolish; he was almost positive this was a stupid, childish plan, and that they were simply going to laugh at him for it. In fact, he could already feel Pansy's derisive stare in his peripheral. But he paid her no mind, instead focusing on the man next to him, who seemed to be taking quite a lot longer than anticipated to come to a conclusion. Then Draco's heart skipped another beat as Blaise chuckled and replied:
"And miss the chance to pretend to be your adoring boyfriend and make all those silly, vanilla Gryffindors jealous? Not on your life."
The tension in the air lifted, and Draco resisted the urge to breathe a sigh of relief. Blaise was still looking at him in that odd way of his, but it seemed he'd gotten his point across well enough. This wasn't about dating, by any means; it was simply a way for him to save face in front of his former enemies. Nothing serious. And he was certain, based on this brief exchange, that Blaise understood the dynamics of the arrangement, and that he'd made a safe decision in choosing to do this with him. Or at least, he liked to think so.
"Shall I go owl the hotel for our room reservation, then, poppet?" Blaise teased, dodging Draco’s swat at his arm as he rose to head for the study.
"Oh, why thank you, dearest." Draco rolled his eyes, mentally shaking off the last of his jitters, and Pansy laughed as she rejoined him at the table. He could hear Blaise’s deep timbre chiming in down the hall behind him.
It was settled, then. And how far they might end up taking this charade--and how in control of himself Draco would be once given the opportunity, well...that would be a bridge he’d have to cross when the time came.

I’d Spend All My Lives With You
“E-Excuse me?”
Harry shrieked (not very manly at all) in fright, whipping around at the timid voice from behind him, only to successfully fling himself off the bed to the sounds of a startled squeak.
“I… Um. Is, Is you alright?” That timid (and rather melodic, if he’d let himself admit it) voice rasped out, the curly brunette blinking up in shock as a fluffy head popped over the bed, peering down at him with large worried orbs.
“Oops. I’m fine. I’m Harry, by the way.” He huffed out, winded by the unexpected change of events as he cautiously leaned himself up onto his elbows, the small sweater clad figure inching back carefully on his bed.
“Hi Ha-rreh.”
~
Harry sighed wearily as he closed his bedroom door behind him, muting the sounds of the party going on in his living room. It’d been Liam’s- his flatmate- idea to throw the party; a small housewarming party of sorts, them being in their final year at university and finally having the funds to move to a much nicer flat from their previous ones.
Harry would have been enjoying himself immensely more if not for the fact that he had a morning (incredibly early, might he add) class, led by an absolute witch of a lecturer (who he was somewhat terrified of, sue him), the next day and would rather not be hung over for it- which had therefor led to his absolute sobriety.
It was a shitty situation to be in, considering how much fun everyone else seemed to be having, but.
It was what it was.
He sat on the edge of his bed, running an exhausted hand over his face as he exhaled heavily, making to flop himself back on his bed when suddenly-
“E-Excuse me?”
“Hi. Um. Who are you, and what are you doing here? In my room, I mean.”
“I’s Louis. Where is Li?” Harry scrunched up his face in contemplation, mind stalling on the adorableness of the tiny, tiny man-child before realizing who the so-called ‘Li’ might be.
“Li? Oh! Do you mean Liam?”
“Yes, Li!” The little- Louis chirped, bouncing excitedly from where he was perched in a lazy crouch on the bed, sapphire orbs glittering with happy recognition at the name.
“He’s outside, you know, where the party is. Which is also where you should be, I assume.” Harry poised with an inquisitive tinge to his voice, even though he’d been sure he wouldn’t have missed the (very admittedly gorgeous) being if he’d entered through the front doors.
“Party? What is party?” Louis questioned, head tilted to the side cutely.
Harry clenched his fist tightly at his sides, fighting the overwhelming urge to dash forward to wrap the lithe figure in a huge bear hug (that, or to keel over and die from cuteness overload- either was entirely possible at this point).
He also thinks he may have accidentally let out a small growl.
“Holy crap! What-! Are those… Are those ears?!” Harry yelped incredulously as the grey beanie slipped from Louis’ head, two fluffy caramel ears popping up from beneath the ruffled mop of hair, twitching at the exclamation as their owner hummed quizzically.
“Yes? Lou has ears, so does Harry!”
“Can I touch them?” He asked hesitantly, arm frozen between them where he’d reached out instinctively to touch- to check that they were real.
“Hmm… Harry will- hurt Louis?” The younger male poised tentatively, cowering almost imperceptibly into the duvet as Harry flinched in shock.
“What? No! No, I just… they look soft. I don’t want to hurt you, I promise.”
“Okay.” The lanky male crept forward cautiously, movements slow and hand gentle as it finally slid through those feathery strands; Louis melted into the touch, curling into his lap with a happy hum as he scratched tenderly at the base of those intriguing ears.
“Hey. You’re just like a little kitty, aren’t you, love.” Harry murmured in wonder, huffing out laughter as Louis preened and pushed up eagerly into his palm with a blissful purr, practically swallowed up into Harry’s much larger frame. He frowned at the heat radiating from the kitten-boy, sweeping a cool palm under his bangs to feel for his temperature.
“Are you feeling alright, Lou? You’re burning up.”
They jumped apart, startled as the door flew open, Liam’s head popping through the gap.
“Harry? Are you in there- Louis?”
“Li!”
“I- what? Louis, what are you doing here?” Liam gaped, gaze flickering between Harry and Louis in bafflement as Harry shrugged, casually reaching out once more to run his long fingers along the soft fur of the latter’s ears.
“He was looking for you and somehow ended up in my room.”
“He’s my brother- well, adopted, as you can probably guess, but... What are you doing all the way out here, Lou? Did you come alone?”
“Want Li, don’t feel good.”
“Aww babe, you’re sick again? Come on, love, you can sleep in my room, okay? I’ll call Mum and Dad to let them know you’re here too.” Liam soothed sympathetically, brows pinched curiously when both Harry and the hybrid protested; Harry in somewhat displaced protectiveness, because Louis just belonged there, snuggled in the warm cocoon of his bed; the latter whining and shaking his head sadly as he burrowed beneath the warm covers of Harry’s bed.
“Wanna stay with Ha-ree, please Li.”
“No, Li, don’t- He’s fine. He can have my bed; you don’t have to move him, especially when he’s not feeling well. And you go back to the party, Li, I’ll take care of him.”
“Oh no, I couldn’t-”Liam started, wavering when Harry waved off his protests with a mock stern look, Louis peeking out at him with pleadingly hopeful eyes.
“I want to.”
“I- If you’re sure.”
“We’ll be fine, Li.”
~
Harry pursed his lips worriedly, reaching out to smooth down the edges of the soft gel fever reducer he’d stuck on Louis’ forehead; Liam’d stuck his head in a few moments ago to bring him some medicines he could use, and Harry had given him them accordingly, but his fever was seemingly refusing to break.
He sighed, running his fingers through the younger male’s hair soothingly, attention flickering distractedly to his laptop where they had a (long forgotten) movie still going, and then back to his side, where the hybrid had been lightly dozing with his head on Harry’s shoulder.
He wasn’t sure when they’d fallen into such familiarity with each other; even though he’d felt a strange pull towards Louis and knew he was a goner right from the very first time he’d met those gorgeous eyes (and face, and then ears), but the next thing he knew, it was all gentle touches and soft words, accompanied by a cuddly kitten right by his side.
And he was gone.
Unrepentantly.
Harry smiled warmly when he noticed those bright baby blues staring up at him, reaching down to flick loose bangs away, grin widening as the other male pressed into his touch with a pleased hum.
“Hi love, how are you feeling? Can I get you anything?” Louis shook his head with a whine, pouting up adorably at Harry while tightening his grip on the curly haired male’s top, a silent signal for him not to leave.
Harry chuckled, leaning down to place a chaste kiss to his forehead, freezing at the intimate action that had come too naturally to him.
Where did that come from?? He pondered, internally freaking out at Louis’ possible reaction- there was something growing between them, for sure, but still, he couldn’t help but wonder if it was inappropriate on his part.
He was startled out of his thoughts by a sudden peck on his cheek, dimples pooling as Louis returned his affectionate gesture happily, slumping back into his comfortable perch beneath Harry’s arm with a contended purr.
He was so gone.
~
Liam shut the front door behind him with a strained smile, having just seen the last of his part guests out; Harry’d said that it was fine to have the party till whenever, and in return, he’d promised Harry that they would keep the noise down, considerate of the younger male’s early schedule- but he couldn’t stop worrying about Louis, now that he was here.
And sick.
It wasn’t the first time that Louis was sick- he had a rather fragile constitution after all; something to do with his biology perhaps, or maybe just years of ill treatment or somewhat resulting in his weakened system (Liam wasn’t really sure about this last point, the hybrid not having spoken of his past, but he had his suspicions)- but he did have a knack for playing things down more often than not; he made a 2 hour train journey all the way alone after all, and God knows how long his idiot of a brother was running around sick before that.
It was only natural that he worried.
Liam crept along the hallway, feet pattering silently down to Harry’s door, tapping in lieu of a knock to alert them of his presence (if they were awake, that is), before cautiously cracking the door open and sticking his head through the gap.
He smiled affectionately at the sight before him, cooing almost inaudibly as he snuck a photo to send to his parents.
Louis made a new friend! (Also his very own protector)
Harry laid sprawled on his bed, arm flung out to the side and yet still curled protectively around the tiny figure burrowed into his side, Louis’ head pillowed on his chest with two small fist clenched possessively around the larger male’s shirt, the two of them passed out with blissful smiles on their faces.
Maybe he wouldn’t have to worry so much anymore, if Harry was going to stick around.
-
Harry knocked on the door nervously, smoothing his hand through his curls in a futile attempt to tame them and tugging at the hem of his shirt just as the door swung open to reveal his puppy of a flat mate, one arm supporting what looked like a pile of blankets against his hip.
It’d been slightly under 3 months since he first met Louis, and a couple of months since he last saw him- one of the most excruciating periods in his life, because he wasn’t sure if he would get to see the hybrid again, and that was just.
No.
But then Liam had rung him, a week into their winter break, inviting him over to his family home in Wolverhampton to celebrate Louis’ birthday- a Christmas Eve baby; Harry always knew the younger male was something special- citing that Louis had specifically requested for his presence.
Louis wanted to see him again.
Harry couldn’t possibly say no to that-or to Louis- and so here he was, heart thumping furiously with eagerness for their (very long awaited, in his opinion) reunion.
“Hey H, thanks for coming.” Liam greeted with a warm smile, stepping aside as he nodded for the taller male to come in.
“It’s no problem at all, ‘m happy to be here. Thanks for inviting me.” Harry smiled, raising his brows in silent query at the lump in his arms.
“This little one here has, unfortunately, gotten himself a little cold. Harry’s here, babe, don’t you want to say hi to him?” Liam sighed, gently jiggling the warmly bundled hybrid to rouse him, Louis lifting his head blearily with a tired mewl.
“Hi Harry.”
“Hi love, and happy birthday.”
Louis ducked his head into Liam’s neck shyly, whispering something into the elder’s ear. Liam laughed, grinning widely at the younger male, his brown eyes gleaming with amusement as they darted to Harry, the latter observing the unfolding scene with undisguised curiosity.
Louis missed Harry.
Granted, he hadn’t even realized how much he missed the tall male until now; knew he’d missed him from the countless dreams of forest green eyes and long curly hair, gentle touches and honey slow drawls, but now that he had the real thing right in front of him… it was as if the tightness in his chest was finally relenting, allowing him to finally breathe.
Harry was like a breath of fresh air, he mused wonderingly, nice to have and to be around, and entirely necessary for survival.
“I’m sure he will, babe. Why don’t you ask him?” Louis peeped timidly, turning huge hopeful puppy eyes to the curly haired male when his older brother nodded encouragingly.
“P-Please, can, can Harry carry Lou?”
“Oh, uh, yeah, sure.” He blinked, pleasantly surprised at the request. He shuffled closer as Louis stretched out towards him as an infant would, one arm secured beneath the hybrid’s bum and the other sliding under his arms to rub calming circles into his back as the younger boy coughed delicately.
“Miss Harry.” Louis mumbled, nuzzling into his neck. Harry pressed a lingering kiss to his temple, holding on tightly as he murmured sweet nothings into his ear.
Liam gestured for his parents with a wink, one finger pressed to his lip as they stalked over curiously, eyes softening with fondness at the heartwarming sight.
“Missed you too, kitten, more than you know.”
~
Louis yawned softly, oblivious to the conversation around him as he languidly played with the heart shaped paper plane necklace that Harry’d gifted him for his birthday. He hadn’t expected anything from the older male- his presence was more than enough really- but this was something Harry got him; something that he’d chosen specifically for him, while thinking of him.
Louis doesn’t think he’s ever had anyone else treat him like this before- like he mattered.
He had Liam, and Geoff and Karen, who were undoubtedly the best family he could have hoped for, and he would eternally be grateful to them for taking him in all those years ago, but no one the way Harry meant to him.
Love Harry.
He thought drowsily just as he lightly dozed off, head still wooly from his low running fever, little purrs rumbling from his chest. He nuzzled closer towards Harry’s comforting warmth in his sleep, Harry instinctively moving to wrap his arm around his small frame, allowing him to rest comfortably against his shoulder.
“-let’s get Lou to bed, he must be exhausted; he’s still sick after all, the poor thing.”
“Um, would you like me to take him? I don’t want to wake him…”
“Oh, would you, Harry? That’d be lovely, the little love is attached to you.”
“Harry…” Louis mumbled unconsciously, shifting to latch on to the tall male as he was roused a little by the rocking motions, Harry glancing down at him with a doting smile.
“Sleep, baby kitten, I’ve got you.” He whispered, tucking the hybrid into bed and smoothing his bangs away from his face.
“Cuddle, Harry?”
“I…” Harry hesitated, peeking back unsurely to the door where Liam was waiting, having shown him the way. Liam waved him off with a nod and a cheeky wink, closing the door behind him, footsteps pattering back down the hallway.
“Please, Harry? Want cuddles with Harry.”
“Okay, kitten, come here.” Harry shuffled beneath the covers, gently curling Louis into his arms and pressing a warm kiss to his forehead.
“Now go to sleep, alright, baby? You need to get better.”
“…Night, Daddy…”
“I-…” Harry froze, eye wide and body tensed with surprise at the endearment.
It wasn’t that he minded it per say- far from it, actually- but he just wasn’t sure what Louis meant by the term.
Louis curled closer with a small questioning mewl, confused by the tension in his body; Harry sighed, softening as he watched the kitten hybrid rub his cheek serenely against the inked sparrows by his chest.
“Goodnight, baby.”
-
“Li, when will Harry visit Lou?” Louis whined, slinking across the room from where he’d been perched by the window in their family home, watching the steady crowd littering the street below in hopes of finally, finally catching sight of a head of familiar curls.
It’s been almost a month since the last time he saw the elder, having snuck back to London to visit them (especially Harry) early in the semester and fortunately allowed to stay for the rest of the week.
The day they- Liam and him- had left for their home in Wolverhampton where Liam had originally planned to spend his break, was sad.
No, scratch that, it was downright depressing, in Louis’ mind.
Liam sighed, squatting in front of his now recovered and heavily pouting brother.
“Lou, come on, it’s time to go now.”
“But Harry?” The hybrid requested sadly, hopeful expression shuttering as Liam shook his head negatively.
“Harry can’t come with us, Lou. He has to work.”
“Then Lou’s staying. With Harry.” Louis stated determinedly, stomping his foot and crossing his arms as Liam lifted a skeptical eyebrow at his rather unusual behavior- he’d never seen his younger brother throw a tantrum, and especially not over a person (not that there ever really was anyone else in their lives).
“You can’t, babe. Now come on, we’re leaving.” Liam sighed, bending down to toss the reluctant kitten over his shoulder and practically manhandling him into the car.
“NO! HARRY!” Louis shrieked frantically, reaching out with desperate arms, grabbing towards the helplessly on looking male. Harry hurried towards the struggling brother(s), placing a hand on Liam’s shoulder to grab his attention.
“Li, let me… I’ll talk to him.”
“Hey love.” Harry murmured, kneeling before the younger male to pull him into his arm as Louis sniffled, staring up at him with distressed watery eyes, bottom lip trembling violently.
“Don’t wanna leave Harry. Please, daddy.”
“Oh Lou, baby, I don’t want you to go either, but… you have to. And maybe I can come visit you, okay?”
“Lou will miss Harry.” The hybrid blubbered, ears flattened against his hair in sorrow; Harry exhaled deeply, burying his face in the soft mop of hair as he squeezed the small male comfortingly.
“I’ll miss you too, Lou, so so much. I’ll see you as soon as I can, alright?”
“Okay.”
And that was that, Liam getting into the driver’s seat and setting off, Louis turned around in the backseat, gazing out the window tearfully to wave at the curly haired male until he faded into a miniscule dot in the distance.
Which brought them to now.
Louis missed Harry.
Liam hummed distractedly, thumbing through the pages of his textbook in which he’d buried himself since a couple of hours ago.
University doesn’t understand the concept of a break. He mused despondently, eyes darting fervently over the heavy text in an attempt to untangle the strings of technical terms. He sighed, rubbing at his eyes wearily as he slumped forward to rest his head against the table, the loud cry of Liiiiiii his only warning before he was ambushed by a sudden weight on his back.
“Lou!” The elder groaned, shifting marginally to peer at his little brother through the corner of his eye, the mischievous hybrid wedged precariously in the gap between the top of his armchair and his hunched back.
“What do you want, Lou?”
“When will Harry visit Lou, Li?” Louis repeated, lips pursing into an unhappy pout. Liam sighed once more, the hybrid hopping off elegantly as he sat up and turned to face him with a solemn expression.
“Lou, who is Harry to you?”
“Harry is Lou’s friend!” The slim male exclaimed, tail swishing happily behind him as he thought of his curly haired friend.
“Just friends, love? Or do you like him? I mean, do you want to be more than friends with him?” Liam pressed, delicately, watching as the enthusiastic grin dimmed, thin lips pulling down sadly in its wake. Louis paused; tail drooped low as he fixed his gaze to the ground, voice low and soft as he answered.
“Lou doesn’t… Lou loves Harry very much, because Harry is nice and gentle, and warm, and gives the best cuddles, but knows that Harry cannot love Lou the way Lou loves Harry.”
“Why do you think that he cannot love you, babe?”
“Because Louis is Louis.” The kitten hybrid stated simply- as if it was a fact that he could not be loved, was unlovable just because of what (who? Liam considered silently, heart panging with sorrow for his adopted brother, unsure if Louis’ low self-perception ran deeper than just his genetic makeup) he was.
“Oh babe…”
“’Sokay, Li. Lou always knew that so, Lou will love Harry, quietly.” Louis smiled, eyes bright; Liam engulfed him into a tight embrace, heart breaking at the little tremors running through that lithe frame.
He wasn’t sure what Louis’d been through to make him think that way; to make him believe that that was the undeniable truth, but fuck if they weren’t going to change that- him and Harry both, because he saw them together and just knew.
“Oh Lou, you’re wrong. You’re so wonderful and lovely and anybody who can’t see that- anyone who doesn’t love you is absolutely daft and just doesn’t know what they will be missing out on.” Liam muttered fiercely, huffing through the tears he could feel burning at the back of his eyes as the small male sniffled pitifully.
“And Harry, he’s not like that, babe. He’s one of the greatest people I know, and he can love you, Lou, and you do deserve that- you deserve someone as great as him. It’s weird coming from me, I know, since I’m meant to be your big bro, but I just- I know Harry, and I know that he won’t hurt you; I trust him with you- and I want you to trust him with you too, okay love?”
“Okay, Li.” Louis agreed.
He wasn’t sure if he could, but he would try at least, and that’s all he knew his older brother was wanting of him.
But first…
“…Li? When will Harry visit?” Liam threw his head back, guffawing at the question, ruffling Louis’ hair as he squealed and duck under his arms to escape.
“I don’t know, Lou… I’m not sure that he’ll make it… But tell you what, how about I talk to Mum and Dad for you to come stay with us for a bit?”
“Oh, yes! Yes, yes, please, Li!”
~
Louis sighed wistfully, flopping onto his back as he pouted up at the ceiling.
He missed Harry.
And his cuddles.
And his warmth.
And his smell, and his pretty, pretty eyes, and the slow drawl of his voice whenever he spoke, and his gentle touches (always gentle with Louis, Harry was, and Louis missed it), and the way he would rub between his ears and smooth down his tail, and-
Louis missed Harry.
Louis sighed again, rolling onto his side to face the window pensively.
He couldn’t.
Or rather, he shouldn’t, really, but.
Harry….
Decision made, Louis threw the covers off, scrambling to pull on a large hoodie before sliding the window open and stealthily dropping to his feet on the other side- there were definitely benefits to being part cat after all.
~
Harry stirred, brows wrinkling slightly as he let out a deep exhale, lids fluttering lightly before sluggishly slipping open to reveal bleary emerald orbs.
It was definitely not the late afternoon he’d expected to have awoken in, faint tendrils of barely there sunlight trickling through the curtains, but he wasn’t sure what it was exactly that woke him up, just the feeling of something not-quite-right settling in his gut.
Harry frowned as his phone vibrated on his nightstand with an incoming call- why on earth was Liam calling him at arse o’ clock in the morning?
“’Lo?” He mumbled sleepily, eyes falling back shut.
“H, have you seen Louis by any chance? I can’t find him; he’s not in his room.”
“What do you mean you can’t find him, Li? Have you checked around the house? I haven’t-”
His back was (rather oddly) hot, he suddenly realized, a compact but comfortable weight attached to it, wiry arms snaked around his waist and clung on tightly, little contented purrs rumbling against his skin as-
Wait.
Harry’s eyes flew open once more, mind racing at the fact that someone was in his bed, purring while acting as the big spoon to his little one. He turned his head to face his intruder, suspicions confirmed at the sight of fluffy caramel hair and triangular ears peeking up cutely at him.
Louis.
“He’s here, Li; very happily sleeping too, in fact.”
He smiled, carefully shifting on to his other side and gently easing the peacefully sleeping hybrid into his arms, heart melting with fondness as he snuggled closer into his warmth with a quiet mewl.
“Oh thank God! That idiot had me all worried but I had a feeling… He missed you, you know? Been asking about you all day, so I guessed he might have gone to you.”
“He missed me? Really?” Harry checked, surprise coloring his voice.
“Yeah, oh my God, wouldn’t stop bugging me about when you were going to visit. You don’t mind if he stays with us for a bit, do you? Promised him I would since he was so upset about not being able to see you.”
“Oh, yeah, no, of course not; I’d love for him to, Li.” He yawned, lowering himself onto his side and pulling the smaller male even closer to him.
“Great! Well, I’ll let you get back to sleep, I guess. Just… take care of Lou, alright?”
“Of course, Li.”
~
When Harry next awoke, at a more appropriate time this round, it was to the sounds of gentle snuffling. Familiar cat ears tickled the soft dusting of stubble beneath his chin as their owner slept on peacefully, lithe body balling up to fit perfectly into the curves of his body. He smiled fondly at the hybrid, carefully extracting himself from his tight grip to prepare breakfast for them.
He loaded a tray up with the plates, feet padding softly on the carpet as he made his way back to the bedroom, peeking in to see the younger male sat up and searching around him desolately, small hands patting confusedly at the groove where he’d lay just moments ago.
“Good morning sunshine.” Harry greeted pleasantly, voice still low and rough with sleep as he lowered the tray before the curious kitten. He chuckled as Louis squeaked happily, leaning forward to lick a broad stripe along his nose.
“Heard you missed me, huh?”
“Lou always miss Harry.” Louis stated simply in response to Harry’s gentle tease, a tinge of cherry pink bloomed across his cheeks as his ears twitched shyly.
Harry melted, leaning forward to place a warm kiss on his forehead.
“I missed you too, kitten. Don’t tell Li this, but I’m glad you snuck out. Now come on, let’s eat before I have to run off to work.”
“Harry?”
“Can… Can Lou come to work with Harry?”
“Um? I don’t- I mean, I guess so? I’m sure it’ll be fine, it’s just that it can be quite crowded at times with, you know, people and I didn’t think you would want to?”
“Lou wants to be with Harry.”
“Okay then, kitten, we’ll go together.”
~
Harry pushed through the door of the bakery with a loud greeting, fingers tangled with Louis’, tenderly leading the hybrid on, the younger male gazing around with bright eyes and eager curiosity.
Barbara bustled through the small door leading to the back, eyes widening momentarily in surprise when she caught sight of the other male, before crinkling with a welcoming smile.
“Morning Harry, and who is this little love here?”
“This is Louis; he’s Liam’s younger brother. Lou, this is Barbara, she’s the owner of this bakery.” Harry introduced while nudging Louis from where he’d been hiding slightly behind him, presenting the beanie clad kitten like a proud parent would. Louis mumbled a shy hi, ducking beneath Harry’s arm to wrap both of his own around the tall male’s waist bashfully as Barbara cooed fondly at them.
“Hello, sweetie, it’s lovely to meet you.”
“I hope it’s okay that he came in to work with me; I didn’t want to leave him alone at home…” Harry asked with a sheepish smile, Barbara swatting at him with rolled eyes as Louis squeaked timidly with hopeful eyes.
“Don’t be silly, hun, it’s fine. I’ll be delighted to have him around.”
~
Bells tinkled lightly to signal the arrival of a customer, Harry popping his head up at the back where he’d been preparing the dough for a tray of scones while chuckling heartily at the disgruntled expression on Louis’ face when flour puffed up in his face as he tried to help.
He was a great help, even though Harry (or Barbara) had to teach him every single technique- the kitten didn’t even know how to whisk- but he tried, and Harry felt his heart melting every time he beamed widely, looking up at him with excited eyes when he got something right.
Harry wasn’t sure how much longer he could take it before his heart gave out on him, but if it was to the sound of Louis’ giggles, then, he thought, it would be worth it.
“I’ll be right back, Lou, just keep working at the dough for me?”
“Hi, what can I get you- Oh.” Harry faltered, plastering on a strained smile when he saw the blonde girl leaned against the counter, red lips tilting into a flirtatious grin.
“Um, hi Taylor. What would you like?”
“How about your number?”
Ew.
Harry thought with a hidden grimace, flinching internally (and probably externally too judging by the look on her face) as the blonde pressed forward even more, half on the counter, cleavage pushed together rather obscenely.
Harry was more of a bum guy.
Louis has a nice bum, his brain supplied unhelpfully, which.
He did, but that wasn’t the point right now.
Harry needed an out from this situation, mind whirling as he fumbled through an uncomfortable response to Taylor’s advances. He did try telling her that he was gay, but she had either not known the meaning of the word, or simply didn’t care.
He’s got a pretty good inkling that it’s the latter, and that she- honest to God- was convinced that she could persuade him.
“I, um, well. Look I don’t think that’s such a good idea.” He started, nearly letting out a frightened squeal as he stumbled painfully into the corner of the pastry fridge when her lips pouted together (Louis’ was much, much cuter) and she leaned over (on top of?) the counter even more with a whined why.
Help.
As if sensing his cry for help, the little back door swung open, Louis sticking his head through cutely.
“Harry?”
Harry spun to face him, relief evident on his face as the lithe male bounced over happily to him, hair dusted with sugar.
“Who is that?”
Oh.
Harry had almost forgotten about her, lost in the little giggles emanating from his kitten as he combed the white powder from his hair.
“Wait is that- Is he your boyfriend?” she cried disbelievingly, finger pointed at Louis, the small male cowering minutely under her harsh glare. Harry pushed himself to his full height, stepping forward to shield Louis from her, his eyes flashing dangerously as he hissed lowly.
“That’s none of your business, and I’ll thank you to stop frightening him. He’s done nothing to deserve that, and we’d like it if you left now, actually.” He looked over at the warm weight hovering behind him, Louis fisting at the hem of his shirt and cuddling up in his protective arms, reaching up to kiss his cheek in thanks.
“But-” Taylor protested, Harry repeating his demand with his eyes still trained on Louis, stomping her foot brattily as she marched from the bakery.
“Are you alright, baby kitten? I’m sorry that she wasn’t nice to you.”
“It’s okay. Lou has Harry.”
-
It was dark when he opened his eyes- the kind that was an absolute black just closing in on him, gnawing at his bones and sinking into his veins.
He rolled up further into himself.
He wasn’t sure where he was, or why he was here, though there was familiarity in the darkness; something far and vague, as if from a lifetime ago.
Dredging up his courage, Louis slowly uncurled himself, testing out his strength (weak, but existent), before carefully shuffling forward on his palms and knees. He made it a couple of steps before he was jerked backwards slightly, startled by the tug on his ankles; he gasped, heart racing, the sounds of his blood rushing in his ears breaking the otherwise suffocating silence as he waited for whoever-whatever- it was to drag him back.
To punish him.
He gasped, panting heavily as the realization struck him.
And suddenly, he knew where he was.
Louis reached out behind him, trembling fingers feeling around his ankle with growing dread, a sob tearing from his throat as they touched cold metal.
He was back there.
The facility.
He didn’t know what he did to land him in the cell this time, or where Harry was-
Oh God.
Harry.
Louis whimpered, panicked thoughts flooding his mind as he struggled helplessly against the chain binding him to the wall- he needed to find Harry.
Oh God, what if they hurt him?
He tugged harshly at the chain, a frustrated growl falling from his lips when it refused to budge, the hard steel biting into his skin; he slumped against the wall in defeat, violent sobs wrecking his small frame as he buried his head into crimson stained hands, accepting the horrific truth of his situation.
He wasn’t going to get out, and worse- he wasn’t going to be able to save Harry; all because he was too weak.
“Harry…”
“Harry!” Louis threw himself upright with a strangled cry, cool sweat soaking the back of his tee as he panted heavily, body trembling with the impact of his nightmare. He felt strong arms slip around his waist, the elder whispering soft assurances into his ear as he was pulled into a warm embrace.
“Hey, hey, Lou, it’s alright. Breathe for me, baby, you’re alright.”
“Daddy…” Louis whimpered, head stuffed into the crook where Harry’s neck met shoulder, taking in the sweet homely scent of the other male as he tried to calm his jagged breaths.
It was just a nightmare; he was alright- Harry was alright.
They were safe.
Harry shushed him, one large palm smoothing down his back in calming circles, the other cradling his head protectively as he sniffled pathetically.
“Daddy, safe?”
“Yes, baby, you’re safe. You’re okay, darling, it was just a nightmare.” Harry frowned, puzzled as Louis shook his head vehemently, burrowing deeper into him, clutching at his top desperately as he repeated his question over and over again.
He wasn’t sure how to respond; wasn’t sure if Louis was warning him of danger, of something he couldn’t sense, or-
Oh.
“Lou, kitten, I’m okay. I’m here, I’m okay.” He whispered, heart aching as the hybrid finally settled at his words, nodding slowly against his neck- Louis wasn’t asking for himself, he was scared for him.
~
“Lou? Do you…” Harry voiced hesitantly when Louis finally calmed, even though he was still clinging tightly to him.
“Do you want to tell me what your nightmare was about?” Louis’ breath hitched, large watery sapphire orbs staring up at him as their owner nodded timidly.
He took a deep breath, lacing his small fingers through Harry’s for courage before beginning his tale, starting with a recount of his nightmare- of being trapped back there, unable to break free to help Harry, and how terrified he was.
Harry listened attentively, squeezing Louis’ hand in his to offer comfort, eyes growing wet and breaths catching in horror as Louis went on to tell of his past at the facility- the place he was brought up in; the place he was experimented on.
He told him of their experiments; of how on good days, they would only do tests like forcing him to run until his legs gave out and he passed out from exhaustion; of how on bad days, they would force him into a cage with angry, vicious dogs, and expect him to fight, only pulling him out when he was severely mauled, fatally close to bleeding out.
Louis told him about the cell; of how he was thrown into the tiny cramped space if he didn’t pass certain tests, food and water withheld for days on end as he was locked and chained in the darkness; of how he begged and cried, and pleaded for them to let him out, for someone to save him- but no one did.
No one ever did.
Until that one fateful day, when the police had somehow gotten wind of a suspicious experimental lab and raided the place, and Louis had fled amid the chaos, knowing that he was finally free.
He’d no idea where he was going, only that he had to run; and so he did, the sweet taste of fresh air and freedom fuelling him, but then he’d stumbled into relatively crowded park, and terrified by the noise and people, he’d hidden among the bushes.
And that was where Liam’d found him (he’d been chasing after his soccer ball, he’d later told him), shivering and cowering in his torn clothing and scratched up feet, ears flattened against his head.
He’d looked surprised, blinking owlishly at him for a few moments, and Louis was so, so afraid, but then the older male had simply smiled at him, sticking out his hand for a handshake and then pulling his jacket and beanie over the hybrid, stealthily sneaking him out of the bushes and giving him a piggy back all the way home.
And the rest, as they say, was history.
“God…Lou, baby.” Harry breathed tearfully, reaching out to press frantic kisses all over Louis’ face, as if to reassure himself that the hybrid was indeed there, before gently but firmly securing the younger male into his arms.
He was never going to let go.
I’ll protect you.
-
Harry slumped back in his chair, giving up on the text he’d been futilely trying to read for the past few hours. He chewed on his bottom lip nervously, stealing furtive glances at his room where Louis’d been snoozing peacefully when he left him, then to Liam where he was sat, hunched over his laptop as he worked steadily on his assignment.
“Hey Li?” Harry hedged cautiously, wavering with uncertainty as the other male hummed distractedly in response.
“Do you… Would it be okay with you if I asked Lou to be my boyfriend?” Liam paused, fingers drawing to an abrupt halt. He turned slowly, brow lifted skeptically at the curly haired male as Harry stared back with wide eyed trepidation.
“Harry, are you asking me for permission to date my brother?” Liam deadpanned, lips tipping into an amused smirk as the younger male blushed.
“Well, I mean, yeah?”
“Of course, you idiot; I trust you. ‘Sides, I think Lou would kill me in my sleep if I dared to say no.” Liam rolled his eyes at him, swiveling back to his work, not bothering to suppress the manic grin he knew he was sporting.
It’s just- he was so happy.
It wasn’t as if he was surprised- anyone who saw them together wouldn’t be, really, not once they saw the way they look at each other; the way they revolved around each other, as if instinctually- and frankly speaking, he’d been waiting a long time for this to happen, ever since that very first time he’d seen Louis wrapped up in Harry’s arms, warm and peaceful.
He was glad that Louis had Harry, someone to love him and protect him, and to show him that it was okay- that he was able to be loved too, cat bits and all.
~
Louis beckoned at one of the shyer kittens surrounding him, cooing as he scooped it up into his arms, bopping it affectionately on its little nose. Harry sat beside him, heart melting with adoration as he watched Louis interact with the tiny fluff balls.
He’d thought that Louis would like this place- a small, lesser known cat café that he’d stumbled across one day while wandering- perfect for this very important occasion.
“Lou? I was wondering, if you would, maybe, that is…” He fidgeted, looking away momentarily before inhaling deeply, shoulders set with determination. He stared up into the hybrid’s large innocent orbs, beguiled by the absolute trust he saw there as Louis waited patiently for him to continue.
“Do you want to be my boyfriend?”
“Boyfriend? Lou? Harry likes Lou?” Louis blinked, head tilted with a confused frown, finger pointing needlessly at himself. Harry chuckled, pulling his small hand into his own larger palm, pressing a tender kiss to his knuckles.
“I do, kitten. I like you very, very much.”
“Okay.”
“Okay?” Harry repeated, lips stretching into an ecstatic grin- he’d thought that maybe the kitten hybrid did return his feelings; that he wasn’t the only one who felt the connection between them, right from that very first meeting.
He’d certainly hoped, but actually hearing it-
God.
It was far gone beyond a dream come true.
Louis shrugged somewhat nonchalantly, as if it were obvious that he would say yes, lowering the kitten back onto the ground and burrowing into Harry’s side with a contented sigh.
“Lou likes Harry too.”
~
Harry thanked the driver, hooking an arm beneath Louis’ thighs and lifting him easily out of the cab, the other arm wrapped around the kitten’s back and supporting his head against his shoulder as the younger male continued to nap peacefully.
He climbed the stairs to their apartment, deliberating in front of their door before softly kicking at the wood with his foot. Liam peeked out curiously at them, smiling in understanding as he stepped aside to let Harry in. He chuckled at how tiny Louis looked, the way he was clinging onto the tall male just as an infant would.
“How was your date?”
“Oh, it was fantastic, thanks. He agreed, by the way.” Harry sighed blithely, dimples pooling as he beamed widely at the other male, emerald eyes dancing with obvious elation.
“Of course he did, H. I’ll be surprised if he didn’t- Lord knows how infatuated he is with you.”
“…Daddy…” Louis murmured sleepily, rubbing his cheek against Harry’s shoulder, the elder freezing as Liam whirled around with narrowed eyes.
“Did he just-?”
“Yeah, but it’s not- I didn’t- he’s called me that a couple of times, but I honestly don’t know why, I didn’t…” Harry fumbled, words jumbled in his rush to placate his flat mate. Liam laughed, shaking his head at the flustered male.
“I know- well, I don’t but I’d hoped you wouldn’t defile my baby brother quite so soon. I was just messing with you.”
“I- I’m just going to bed now.”
With that, Harry spun around, face flushed with mortification as he all but sprinted into his room, Liam cackling evilly behind him.
~
“Here you go, baby.” Harry lowered a plate of full English in front of Louis, the younger male chirping a happy thank you Daddy at him.
Right in front of Liam.
And there went his hopes that the issue would be put at rest, Harry thought, sighing in resignation as he caught the amused gleam in his flat mate’s eyes.
“Why is Harry daddy, Lou?” Harry choked, spluttering senselessly as Liam grinned cheekily at him.
“Harry calls Lou baby, so Harry must be Daddy.” Louis stated simply, more involved in poking at his eggs and shoveling little bits of sausage into his mouth, oblivious to the sounds of Harry choking (again) at his answer and his brother guffawing obnoxiously at his furiously red face.
“Besides, Daddy takes care of Lou. Lou loves Daddy.”
-
Harry barged into their flat with an excited squeal, startling the two brothers from their lazy sprawl on the couch. He picked Louis up as he jumped into his arms in greeting, spinning him around in circles as the hybrid giggled in delight from his infectious excitement.
“They want me! Li, they are going to record my songs!”
“Holy shit, really? That’s great, Harry!” Liam leapt up, clapping Harry on his back with a thrilled grin.
“I know! Oh my God, it’s like a dream come true.” Harry sighed happily, humming mindlessly as he stroked his thumb along the pointy bone of Louis’ shoulder, his small boyfriend purring blissfully.
“I know! Seriously, congrats on that, I’m so proud of you!”
“What is Daddy and Li talking about?” Louis wondered aloud, ears perked up cutely with interest at their obvious exhilaration.
“You know how Harry writes songs, babe? Well, there’s a record label that wants to record his songs. You’re gonna be proper famous, aren’t you, H!” Liam teased; Harry and him both missing the way Louis frowned at his words.
It’s not till later that night, both of them settled snugly with a movie in bed, that Louis brings the topic up again.
“Daddy?” He called quietly, slim fingers tracing the outline of Harry’s butterfly tattoo idly.
“Yes baby?” Harry replied, eyes still focused on the movie even as he shivered under the feather light touches. Louis remained silent, thinking through his words carefully.
“Will Daddy forget Lou?” Harry whipped around, curls sent flying from the force, jaw slack as he gaped at Louis, horrified.
“What? No! No, baby, of course not!”
“But… but Daddy will meet lots of people. Maybe, Daddy will find someone else?” Louis posed timidly, small body curled as if to protect himself.
And it hurt.
It hurt to see his love so unsure about himself, about his worth that he thought that Harry would just- could possibly just- leave him.
Harry hurt.
Harry lunged towards Louis, tugging the small hybrid into a tight embrace as he whispered fierce assurances to him, promises intertwined with every kiss he painted across his skin.
“No! Lou, I don’t want anyone else, I promise. There won’t be anyone else. It’s just you, kitten, just you and me.”
~
“Lou? Baby, are you awake?” Harry whispered, fingers tracing gently across the hybrid’s arm, leaving a trail of goose bumps in its wake as Louis shivered from the feather light touch.
“Yes, Daddy.”
“I was thinking… I wanna show you something, kitten.” Harry murmured softly, ignoring the confused whine of protest from behind him as he slipped out of bed; digging through their closet, he pulled out his worn pair of boots, fishing out a small box hidden within.
“I-I got this for you a while back, but I just wasn’t sure- about timing, and all that, you know? But after tonight, I just thought- Well, it just seemed like the perfect time.” The tall male trailed off awkwardly, thumb smoothing over the velvet cover of the box in a tender caress. Louis pushed into a sitting position, slim fingers reaching out carefully.
“W-What is it, Daddy?”
Harry sighed, inhaling deeply to gather his courage before lifting his head and meeting his kitten’s curious but somewhat timid gaze. He flipped the lid open, eyes darting back down to stare fondly at the ring nestled within- a simple white gold band, traced with an intricate woven design- as Louis gasped in surprise.
“It’s a promise ring, baby; and one day, I hope that I will be able to replace it with a more official one- but for now, this is a promise from me to you, that no matter what happens from here on; no matter what job I find, or who I meet, you’re going to be the one I want. You’re always going to be my number one, Lou, and that’s not going to change.”
“Lou- I- D-Daddy.” Louis choked out in a silent whimper, eyes filling rapidly with the mess of overwhelming emotions swirling within him, shaky arms reaching to grasp at the hem of Harry’s shirt as the elder enclosed him into warm arms.
“Shh, it’s alright, baby. You’re okay; I love you so much, Lou. I just wanted you to know that.”
“Lou loves Daddy too- So much, very, very much.”
“Then I hope you will agreed to my next request, kitten; I know it might be a bit soon considering that we’ve only been dating for a few months, but… please move in with me, Lou?” Harry breathed, heart thudding with anticipation.
Louis smiled, tipping his head to seal their lips together in a gentle kiss.
“Of course, Daddy.”

Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is a fictional superheroine appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character is a founding member of the Justice League. The character first appeared in All Star Comics#8 in October 1941 with her first feature in Sensation Comics #1 in January 1942. The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986. In her homeland, the island nation of Themyscira, her official title is Princess Diana of Themyscira. When blending into the society outside of her homeland, she sometimes adopts her civilian identity Diana Prince.
Wonder Woman was created by the American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston (pen name: Charles Moulton), and artist Harry G. Peter. Marston's wife, Elizabeth, and their life partner, Olive Byrne, are credited as being his inspiration for the character's appearance. Marston's comics featured his ideas on DISC theory, and the character drew a great deal of inspiration from early feminists, and especially from birth control pioneer Margaret Sanger; in particular, her piece "Woman and the New Race".
Wonder Woman's origin story relates that she was sculpted from clay by her mother Queen Hippolyta and was given a life to live as an Amazon, along with superhuman powers as gifts by the Greek gods. In recent years, DC changed her background with the retcon that she is the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta, jointly raised by her mother and her aunts Antiope and Menalippe. The character has changed in depiction over the decades, including briefly losing her powers entirely in the late 1960s; by the 1980s, artist George Perez gave her an athletic look and emphasized her Amazonian heritage. She possesses an arsenal of magical items, including the Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and, in older stories, a range of devices based on Amazon technology.
Wonder Woman's character was created during World War II; the character in the story was initially depicted fighting Axis military forces as well as an assortment of colorful supervillains, although over time her stories came to place greater emphasis on characters, deities, and monsters from Greek mythology. Many stories depicted Wonder Woman rescuing herself from bondage, which defeated the "damsels in distress" trope that was common in comics during the 1940s. In the decades since her debut, Wonder Woman has gained a cast of enemies bent on eliminating the Amazon, including classic villains such as Ares, Cheetah, Doctor Poison, Circe, Doctor Psycho, and Giganta, along with more recent adversaries such as Veronica Cale and the First Born. Wonder Woman has also regularly appeared in comic books featuring the superhero teams Justice Society (from 1941) and Justice League (from 1960).
The character is an iconic figure in popular culture that has been adapted to various media. October 21 is Wonder Woman Day, commemorating the release of her first appearance in All Star Comics#8 (with the exception of 2017 which held the day on June 3 to tie in with the release of the film of the same name).
Wonder Woman has been featured in various media from radio to television and film, and appears in merchandise sold around the world, such as apparel, toys, dolls, jewelry, and video games. Shannon Farnon, Susan Eisenberg, Maggie Q, Lucy Lawless, Keri Russell, Kate Beckinsale, Rosario Dawson, Cobie Smulders, and Halsey among others, have provided the character's voice for animated adaptations. Wonder Woman has been depicted in both film and television by Cathy Lee Crosby, Lynda Carter, and in the DC Extended Universe films by Gal Gadot.
> Diana Prince
The "Diana Prince" identity has been part of Wonder Woman's history since her comics debut in 1941. In the early Golden Age stories, Wonder Woman served as a military secretary during World War II, using Prince as her cover. Later occupations Wonder Woman performed as Prince included translator at the United Nations, Air Force captain and ambassador, and in the '70s TV series, Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman used Prince to serve as an agent of the Inter-Agency Defense Command. In the DC Extended Universe, Prince works as curator for the Department of Antiquities at the extremely prestigious Louvre Museum and is held in very high esteem by the curator of the Gotham City Museum of Antiquities. Her tremendously long life span, accumulation of immense amount of knowledge and exceptional perceptiveness makes Diana Prince the wisest and most emotionally-intelligent member of the Justice League.
During Marston's run, Diana Prince was the name of an army nurse whom Wonder Woman met. The nurse wanted to meet with her fiancé, who was transferred to South America, but was unable to arrange for money to do so. As Wonder Woman needed a secret identity to look after Steve (who was admitted to the same army hospital in which Diana Prince worked), and because both of them looked alike, Wonder Woman gave the nurse money to go to her fiancé in exchange for the nurse's credentials and took Diana Prince as her alias. She started to work as an army nurse and later as an Air Force secretary.
The identity of Diana Prince was especially prominent in a series published in the early 1970s, in which she fought crime only under the Prince alias and without her mystic powers. To support herself, she ran a mod clothing boutique.
The Diana Prince alias also played an important role after the events of Infinite Crisis. Wonder Woman was broadcast worldwide killing a villain named Maxwell Lord, as he was mind controlling Superman into killing Batman. When Wonder Woman caught him in her lasso, demanding to know how to stop Superman, Maxwell revealed that the only way to stop him was to kill Lord, so as a last resort Diana snapped his neck. To recover from the trauma of killing another person, the Amazon went into a self-imposed exile for one year. On her return to public life, Diana realized that her life as a full-time celebrity superhero and ambassador had kept her removed from humanity. Because of this she assumed the persona of Diana Prince and became an agent at the Department of Metahuman Affairs. During a later battle with the witch Circe, a spell was placed on Diana leaving her powerless when not in the guise of Wonder Woman.
The New 52 universe does not have a "Diana Prince" identity as stated in an interview by series writer Brian Azzarello. However, when she and Superman began dating, for her civilian identity she used the Diana Prince alias whenever she was around Clark Kent; such as when she introduced herself to Lois Lane at Lois's housewarming party under that name.
Personality
Princess Diana commands respect both as Wonder Woman and Diana Prince; her epithetical title – The Amazon Princess – illustrates the dichotomy of her character. She is a powerful, strong-willed character who does not back down from a fight or a challenge. Yet, she is a diplomat who strongly "favors the pen", and a lover of peace who would never seek to fight or escalate a conflict. She's simultaneously both the most fierce and most nurturing member of the Justice League; and her political connections as a United Nations Honorary Ambassador and the ambassador of a warrior nation makes her an invaluable addition to the team. With her powerful abilities, centuries of training and experience at handling threats that range from petty crime to threats that are of a magical or supernatural nature, Diana is capable of competing with nearly any hero or villain.
Many writers have depicted Diana in different personalities and tone; between both of her diametric extremes; that of a worldly warrior, a highly compassionate and calm ambassador, and sometimes also as a naive and innocent person, depending on the writer. What has remained constant, and is a mainstay of the character, is her nurturing humanity: her overwhelming belief in love, empathy, compassion, and having a strong conscience.[citation needed] This trait had been the reason for her induction into the Star Sapphires.
Writer Gail Simone was applauded for her portrayal of Wonder Woman during her run on the series, with comic book reviewer Dan Phillips of IGN noting that "she's molded Diana into a very relatable and sympathetic character."
Actress Gal Gadot described Wonder Woman as "an idealist. Experienced, super-confident. Open and sincere even in the midst of a gruesome, bloody conflict. Having many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she's a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence".
In the Golden Age, Wonder Woman adhered to an Amazon code of helping any in need, even misogynistic people, and never accepting a reward for saving someone; while conversely, the modern version of the character has been shown to perform lethal and fatal actions when left with no other alternative, exemplified in the killing of Maxwell Lord in order to save Superman's life.
The New 52 version of the character has been portrayed to be a younger, more headstrong, loving, fierce and willful person.[citation needed] Brian Azzarello stated in a video interview with DC Comics that they're building a very "confident", "impulsive" and "good-hearted" character in her. He referred to her trait of feeling compassion as both her strength and weakness.
A distinctive trait of her characterization is a group of signature mythological exclamations, beginning with "Great Aphrodite!", followed by "Great Hera!", "Merciful Minerva!", and "Suffering Sappho!', some of which were contributed by Elizabeth Holloway Marston.

Drinks, is currently playing as part of the Basic Space Festival in Peckham. The festival is a site-sensitive theatrical event that is set within two Victorian Safehouses in Peckham. The idea is that the festival enables audiences to open their minds to different creative possibilities in unlikely places.
I’d been invited to Laura and Dave’s housewarming party. I made my way to Copeland Road in Peckham (via the pub, after all who turns up at a house party alone without a drink inside them!). Having been welcomed into the preparation area I was given a sticker and assigned as a friend of Laura’s. I was then led, along with half the other willing participants to the front door of Laura and Dave’s House. The immersive experience begins.
Laura opens the front door and welcomes me in, she hasn’t seen me since uni! I’m taken to the bar, offered a drink of cider and encouraged to mingle with the other guests.
The house is derelict – memories of student housing lit by fairy lights, undecorated and the perfect party venue form in my mind – it’s 1997 and I’m transported back to days of student flat hunting.
As the production unfolds what is very apparent is how carefully this piece has been put together. It’s slick, clever and a joy to be a part of. There are four cast members in the piece, all of whom really stood up to the challenge and gave first class performances. The line between the 4th wall and audience participation blurs, I’m fascinated. I am glad I’m at the party.
Running at just under an hour, the piece is fast moving, funny, emotive and fun to be a part of. In their words “Shit got real” and we all need to grow up and embrace new beginnings. The piece is faultless.
I don’t want to give too much away about the plot – I’ll leave that for you to experience yourself. However, I can confirm that the show is access friendly, you don’t have to invest much to be part of it, so it is a really good introduction to a site-specific performance. There is also a bar open throughout the performance/party and after, so you can relax over a beaker of wine at Laura and Dave’s house warming…
Review by Faye Stockley
DRINKS invites you to Laura and Dave’s housewarming drinks (the play is staged in a real Victorian terrace house in Peckham). They’ve finally got their foot on the property ladder and want to celebrate, even if it is a massive dump. Also in attendance is their ‘best-friend’ Laurence, but it soon becomes clear that their friendship has changed and that they’re all moving in different directions. DRINKS explores the social pressure to settle down and build a home and how relationships change in adulthood. The play invites you to get in on the action, join the party and see things unravel!
DRINKS is the third show from Three Pegs Productions. It is directed by Christa Harris and written by Sophie Andrea Mitchell. It will be on between the 8th and 12th March 2017, 8.30 – 9.30pm, at Safehouse 1, 139 Copeland Road, Peckham, London, SE15 3SN. http://ift.tt/2m5u5x8

Influencer Marketing at GBK’s Gifting Suite Honoring Grammy Nominees: Interview with the Businesses
Face-to-face connections with celebrities are hard to attain in real life, and one company has an impressive skill for throwing enjoyable yet commercially fruitful events to bring people together. GBK offers lavish networking events for businesses to connect with celebrities and media on a personal level, and build partnerships.
Tapping into influencer marketing is a major marketing trend for 2017, that is sure to stay, and many brands have achieved greater success by attending celebrity gift lounges. Businesses jumped at the chance to showcase their products to top talent this past weekend. GBK hosted another star-studded soiree, a celebrity gifting event honoring Oscar nominees and presenters. that took place at a $25Million Estate in Beverly Hills, CA. Notable guests included Viola Davis, Miles Teller, Randy Jackson, and Haley Lu Richardson.
Home Business Magazine spoke with the brand representatives about the story behind the brand, the inspiration for company, thoughts on celebrity gift lounges, and what their future marketing strategies are.
Ike’s Place
HBM: How was it at this GBK event today? Has influencer marketing benefited your company?
Ike: “I had a lot of fun. There’s a lot of great gifts, and great food of course. For me, these events have helped because the attendees become customers. When they come in, because I’m in the restaurant business, people take photos of the celebrities at my business. It’s like social proof, when they’re there at the restaurant. Because the food is good, I have a product where people keep coming back and back again. It’s been really helpful for me. I also had a few people at these events come back and want to fund me or open up their own restaurants. I’ve met a couple partners specifically from events like this.”
HBM: What do you like most about GBK and their celebrity gift lounges?
Ike: “I really like the people that work here. They offer a great service, and great people. They’re really fun to be around. They put on a good party too. The celebrities are fun too that show up here. It’s different than the other ones I go to, where these ones are more personable and want to interact. They spend time with the tables.”
HBM: Have you had good promotion from the celebrities?
Ike: “Oh yeah. We have something that’s happening soon, and that person has seven million followers. They’re tweeting out their sandwiches tomorrow. I’m sure that’s going to be helpful.”
HBM: What are your future marketing strategies?
Ike: “More of the same like this. Connecting with influencers and showing that we have social proof. The food is good, so we’re trying to get it out more and more in the public.”
Burke Williams Spa
HBM: How do feel about GBK’s events?
Burke Williams Spa: “This is my first time! I’m honored to be here. It’s been a lot of fun. We’ve had a really warm reception. Glad to hear that a lot of people are familiar with our facilities, and really open and welcome to hear about what we have to offer, which is talking about our newest Hollywood location, which is offering new services including our blow dry bar, our steam pedicures, and garden room services. It’s been really fun.”
HBM: What do you think is most beneficial about going to celebrity gift lounges?
Burke Williams Spa: “I think spreading what we have to offer is most beneficial. No matter who you are, you can benefit from taking care of yourself and wellness, especially living in California, in Los Angeles. We all are really fast paced, and we’re always on the go. Sometimes we forget to let ourselves center, and we offer that to all of your guests.”
HBM: What are you gifting celebrities today?
Burke Williams Spa: “We have a variety of our H2V products, which is the signature line we use in all of our facials and skincare. It’s also included in all of our spa amenities. Our guests can come in and shampoo, condition their hair, and use body wash. All of our facial products are used in our facilities as well. Whether you’re getting a massage or any other service, you can experience them.”

Hallmark Signature
HBM: What is Hallmark Signature?
Hallmark Signature: “Hallmark Signature is Hallmark’s premium greeting card collection. As you can see, the cards have lots of extra dimension and embellishments to them. The copy on it is still very simple and subtle, so you can say a lot with a little. We have cards here for a birthday, some congratulatory cards, which is kind of fun, if you think about from the nominee perspective. ”
HBM: Have you done other celebrity gift lounges like GBK’s in the past?
Hallmark Signature: “We have not. This is our first one. It’s wonderful! It’s been so fun to get our product in front of such a broad range of people. We’ve had everybody from Viola Davis to Anthony Anderson. The card Viola chose was The One and Only. She loved The One and Only and also our little ballerina card. It’s been so fun to see everyone’s reactions to our product! We’ve had a lot of people come by!”
HBM: How did you find out about GBK?
Hallmark Signature: “We’ve worked with them before. We’re really excited about the opportunity to sample our product and with the Oscars being such an elaborate event, and kind of the biggest of the season, we feel like Signature is our best foot forward too, so perfect for that. It’s a celebratory event. Our brand is grounded in style. It’s really about helping people express and share their personal style. This place, with all the style, seemed like a great venue to really debut the brand in front of a big audience.”
Meza Dental
HBM: What is Meza Dental?
Meza Dental: “Meza is a cosmetic dentistry company. We’re based in San José, Costa Rica. The reason we’re here is because they’re a lot of patients from the United States and Canada travelling for vacation to Costa Rica and they’re also getting dental work done. We’re a group of cosmetic dentists trained here in the United States, but born and raised in Costa Rica. This is called “medical tourism”. It’s an industry going on for about fifteen years. Nowadays, Meza Dental is expanding. It’s moving to Colombia. We’re offering the beauty of Costa Rica, of nature. Now we want to offer the glamour of a city like Bogota, where there’s a lot of fashion and nightlife, and things like that. We also would like to offer the possibility of being in Dubai. Dubai is going to be open hopefully in 2018. It’s a major hub for the Arab and Asian immigrants, so there’s a lot of people travelling into Dubai. Nowadays, they have a Dubai healthcare city. That’s where we want to be located at. Nowadays, we’re getting into the celebrity marketing industry.”
HBM: How has GBK helped you with celebrity marketing and making influencer connections?
Meza Dental: “Really good. It has given us a lot of exposure and networking. We’re now on the way of new big plans in the near future. We will hopefully come back for future gifting suites. Our publicist is the one moving us around but we’ll see. Viola Davis was here this morning, which was great.”
Earthwater
HBM: Please tell us about your product.
Earthwater: “This is alkaline water. It has a PH of 9. It has 77 trace minerals in it and that’s what gives it its brown color. We take minerals from deep inside the earth and infuse it into the water. There’s absolutely nothing else added besides just the minerals that are really good for you. There’s no added sugar, no flavor, or anything like that. It’s vegan and gluten-free. It has no calories.”
HBM: How was the company founded?
Earthwater: “It was founded by CJ Comu who is actually in Dallas, Texas, and that’s where our little secret spot is where we get everything from. CJ actually just flew back out today and so I’m their spokesperson for Los Angeles and I’ve been doing a lot of the events for them here. It’s several years old. We did the gift suites last year, and we also did the Superbowl. It’s been around. People love it!”
HBM: How has GBK helped you with influencer marketing, and helping the company connect you with celebrities and media?
Earthwater: “So much! Like I said—we did the gift suites last year as well. We’ve had a really good rapport with everybody. It’s been really great.”
Pure Seduction
HBM: Tell us about Pure Seduction.
Pure Seduction: “It’s a premium men underwear store. We are located in New York and we have an online store. Everything comes from Berlin, is designed and made over there. We have very different materials and fabrics. We have all different styles from very conservative to very kinky styles.”
HBM: How was the company founded?
Pure Seduction: “I opened the company because I had a friend who moved here from Russia. I asked him what he’s missing that Americans don’t have. He said, “Americans don’t have good underwear.” So, I started to search and bought a couple brands and brought them here. It was initially a multi-brand store. How we are launching our own line.”
HBM: How do you feel about celebrity gifting events?
Pure Seduction: “It’s our first event. Everybody’s different. People are different. I like to see how people react to our brand. It’s always fun.”
HBM: What are you future plans?
Pure Seduction: “We’re opening a store in West Hollywood. We are launching our own brand. It’s exciting!”
Il Palato Italiano
HBM: What is Il Palato Italiano?
Il Palato Italiano: “We are a club for food lovers and we select the most exclusive Italian products we can find. We try to bring them to the United States with a new concept which is to fly a hope brigade from Europe and come and cook at your doorstep.”
HBM: How has influencer marketing and attending gift lounges benefited your business?
Il Palato Italiano: “This is the second event we are doing in the United States. On Monday evening, we were at a top celebrity’s home for his housewarming. We had a dinner for eighteen people. All these connections came from attending the GBK gift lounge they hosted for the Emmy’s. The gift we’re giving is a spaghetti kit for six people that you can do at home with our selection of product. It’s a tiny, seasonal selection, so when it’s over, it’s over. You have to book it for next year. For some people we’ve got an exclusive dinner, which is a dinner for ten people. You can do it whenever you want, and have the chef come. They can build their own menus and have the tailor-made experience.”
HBM: What do you like most about GBK?
Il Palato Italiano: “They take care of every detail. They are punctual, and helpful for us in getting our message through. We’re very happy about the company.”
