is Harvey Batman or Superman (yes it’s a thing)?
I feel like there’s some serious psychological stuff hidden in the fact that Harvey calls himself Batman (to Mike’s Robin), while Louis thinks of Harvey as Superman…
Harvey “took in” a orphan even though he probably wasn’t the most qualified to do so (this post)
People used to talk about the gay subtext btwn Batman & Robin (I don’t ship it but I WILL say that decades ago some scenes WERE written in a weird way)…Marvey’s unsaid canon
Batman won’t kill, yet he’s often shown to cross moral lines that other heroes have (looking at “will punch a jerk” Specter)
Harvey jumps btwn “suave pretty face” Bruce Wayne, “brooding loner” Real Bruce & “righteous anger” Batman
lol I’m hearing the BTAS theme in my head
Louis sees Harvey as the guy who never gets in trouble or is defeated by anyone (Louis thinks of Superman, while canonically many in the DCU also see Batman this way)
Harvey has a bevy of love interests, some of whom are downright annoying (Batman & Superman tbh)
Harvey basically wears the same 2 suits 24/7 (superheroes in general)
Harvey would rather be smart & a winner than beloved & sweet (actually he wants it all; Batman is often said to be this way by his peers)
Tbh Harvey’s role models are his dad, Jessica & Batman

Ten Characters, Ten Fandoms, Ten Tags!
I was tagged by @ellelans to share 10 of my favourite characters from 10 different fandoms and tag 10 people to do the same. Thanks for the tag!❤️
Okay, in no particular order:-
1) Melinda May - Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Honestly, I love the whole cast and characters of that show so it was hard picking just one. Also, as it’s a Marvel property it means I can’t pick Bucky Barnes as a fave either, but know that I would if I could.)
Tumblr media
2) Kathryn Janeway - Star Trek: Voyager (Sorry, TOS Kirk and McCoy, you know I love you guys, I’ll get you next time.)
Tumblr media
3) Harvey Specter - Suits (Boys with brown eyes, need I say more?)
Tumblr media
4) Abbie Mills - Sleepy Hollow (I’m still bitter at how they screwed up this show. It had such potential.)
Tumblr media
5) Eddie Diaz - 9-1-1 (Boys with brown eyes, they really do give you more bang for your buck (pun totally intended) when it comes to dishing out the heart eyes.)
Tumblr media
6) Dana Scully - The X Files (My beloved little sceptic.)
Tumblr media
7) Aram Mojtabai - The Blacklist (Precious baby, cinnamon roll, too good for this world, and tougher than anyone gives them credit for.)
Tumblr media
8) Kevin Ryan - Castle (Precious baby, cinnamon roll, too good for this world, and tougher than anyone gives them, well, you get the gist.)
Tumblr media
9) Elinor Dashwood - Sense and Sensibility (Sorry, Marianne fans, but sometimes I just want to shake her and tell her to get a hold of herself. I prefer the resolute, stiff upper lip, suffer in silence but with dignity attitude of her big sister.)
Tumblr media
10) Benton Fraser - Due South (I know there are those who think characters who are about duty and doing the right thing and are just generally good are boring and one dimensional, but they can be so much more complex than that if you only look a little deeper. Also, he’s hot.)
Tumblr media
I tag @talespinner230 @foreverthemomfriend @fireladybuckley @firstdegreefangirl @mistmarauder @sal-si-puedes @oneawkwardcookie @katries @nade2308 @imwritesometimes and anyone else who wants to play. No pressure on anyone who doesn’t! Also, I had some time to kill so I found gifs for each character I picked, but you can just list them without gifs if you want. 😘

Specter Reunion
Summary: Harvey brings Mike to the annual Specter Reunion.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/38543652
(Based off this prompt from the beloved @write-it-motherfuckers )
Hey! I posted another fanfiction! If @killerandhealerqueen hadn’t tagged me in a First Line Ask Game I never would have opened it up, given it a quick edit, and decided to post it. So thank you for the unintentional push! One step closer to posting my fic more regularly... maybe... lol!

Caring Makes You Weak
So, as there are too few Harvey Specter Stories and inspiration finally striked again while rewatching Suits I decided to rework an old story of mine and post it on here, too.
Hope you guys will like it. Let me know what you think. If you want to be tagged, just let me know.
Also shout out to my beta @fortheloveoffanfic
Summary: Harvey Specter, best closer in New York City and Senior Partner at Pearson Hardman, the man most females in the city want, yet he himself doesn't want commitment, because caring makes one weak. Enter Elle Howard, a woman he met a long time ago. Will she be the one to break down his walls and make him care?
Words: 1704
(Coverart still pending)
Tumblr media
"Mommy? Can we see daddy today?" the three-year old's question sounded from the back of the car as the young mother was on her way to drop her two children off at daycare and school.
A deep sigh left Elle's lips when she stopped at a red light. "I don't think he's got time today." she said, keeping her mouth shut about her ex-husband's questioning ability to spend more than five minutes with his kids.
"He doesn't have time because he doesn't want us anymore, Izzy, he's got a new family." her son ranted angrily. Ever since Travis and her had split up, the seven year old pulled away from her. He was easily irritated and his grades were suffering. Elle wasn't able to spend as much time with her children as she used to when she was still married to Travis Tanner. During that time she used to be a stay-at-home-mom, but now she had to work odd jobs to keep her kids in the same facilities as they were right now. She didn't want to take that away from them when they already had so much on their plate.
"Charles Henry Tanner, stop it. Don't talk like that to your sister." she called, only just taking her eyes off the road for the fraction of a second. It was enough time for the light to change again and another car speeding towards them.
Tumblr media
Mike raced towards Harvey's office, the files tightly gripped in his hand. His heart was racing, reading through the Pro Bono. Donna looked up from her desk, her eyes widening when she saw the associate come running down the hallway.
"Mike!" she called, getting up from her chair. "What's going on?"
He held up his hand and stormed into the office. "Harvey, I need your help."
Looking up, the closer opened his mouth but closed it again when he saw the wild look in Mike's eyes. "What the hell are you doing storming in here?" Ever since the younger man had lost his beloved Grammy and the problems with Daniel Hardman, Harvey had been irritated to no end, not even Donna being reinstated had helped lighten his mood.
"Louis gave me that case. I can't take it." he answered, putting the folder onto his boss' desk. He raked his hands through his hair, pacing in the office, his long strides taking him from the corner window to the door and back again.
Harvey took the files, reading through the case notes, cursing on the inside, while not showing his own reaction to his associate. "So? What do you want me to do about this?"
"This is a custody case. I never did that and it's Tanner's ex-wife." the younger man argued. "He's going to rip this case apart. There's no chance I can beat him."
Leaning back in his chair, Harvey Specter watched his associate. He knew what he was capable of, but Travis was a pitbull in court. "How about you talk to his ex-wife and get started, I'll look into the rest of the case."
"Elle's my neighbor, Harvey." Mike told him, falling down into the chair in front of the desk. "When I lose that case, she's going to lose her kids. Tanner doesn't even want to spend time with his kids anymore, he's got a new family now. They might as well end up with a foster family."
Rubbing his chin, the lawyer turned around and looked out of the window. "What exactly happened?"
"Actually I would have loved to have you come with me to ask that question."
"Mike, I can't"
"I cleared your schedule, Harvey. You should go with the puppy." Donna's voice sounded over the intercom, the smile on her lips clear as a day.
Harvey turned to the glass wall of his office, seeing his secretary looking at him. He raised his eyebrow, giving her a warning look. "I thought we had an agreement about you listening in." The redhead just shrugged her shoulders and gave him her typical 'Donna' look. "Right, let's go ask some questions."
Tumblr media
Together, the lawyer and his associate stood in front of Elle Howard's apartment, the one just down the hall from Mike's.
"Harvey, please be gentle this time. They took the kids from her as soon as they were checked out from the hospital." he told his boss, fidgeting with his tie.
Rolling his eyes, the closer hit him in the chest. "Stop it, Mike. You know her, what are you nervous about?" He raised his hand and knocked on the door.
"I just don't want to let her down, you know." he answered, looking at his boss and friend.
Before he could answer, the door opened and Harvey felt his breath catch. It wasn't that he was shocked by the beauty of the woman leaning in the doorway watching them closely, not that she wasn't beautiful even with the cuts and bruises on her face and body, but he remembered those eight years ago. "Elle."
"Harvey."
Swallowing, the closer and his rookie entered the apartment after the redhead. Mike gave his friend a questioning look before he shook his head. "You know her?" he angrily whispered, pointing his thumb at Elle. Harvey just shook his head and walked over to the couch where the younger woman was already seated.
"So, Tanner and you?" he opened his questioning, leaning back on the couch next to his associate.
Chuckling softly, Elle looked over at the lawyer. "That's what your first question is going to be? I thought you'd at least have the nerve to ask me how I am doing."
"Elle, listen, I'm sorry that we showed up like this, can you tell us what happened the day of the accident?" Mike intervened, sending his boss and mentor a dark look.
Brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear, the mother-of-two sighed. "I don't know what you want me to say? I'm just happy that my kids are fine and didn't get hurt. Do you have any idea when I can see them again?"
Clearing his throat, Harvey watched her closely. "Your ex-husband has filed for custody, Mrs Tanner, also banned you from seeing the children until trial is over."
"I'm going by Howard now, already done that for the last two years." Elle bit back, fidgeting in her seat, when she felt tears spring to her eyes. "I didn't do anything wrong for that jerk to deny me my kids. He didn't even want them in the first place, Travis gave me sole custody but no money for Izzy and Charlie."
Getting up from the plush couch she moved over towards the window, looking down at the numerous picture frames showing her wonderful children. They were her life and not having them here with her was tearing her up inside.  "It was only a second." she started, crossing her arms in front of her chest. Harvey watched her closely, remembering the weekend they had spent together, while his associate rested his eyes on him. Never in his life would Mike have believed that the notorious Harvey Specter would show emotion, besides that one time they were smoking pot in his apartment. "Izzy wanted to see Travis, I told her that he didn't have time, like always and Charlie, he's been so angry ever since we split up. I just, the light was green when we drove off and it, I only just turned my head to look at Charlie. Next thing I know both my kids are standing outside, next to the car with the EMTs while the FDNY is pulling apart my car."
"Okay, please don't think I'm being rude but I have to ask." the associate started, earning raised eyebrows from his boss. "Were you drinking or taking medication that would lead to any failure of sight or control of your body."
Shaking her head, Elle turned back to the lawyer and his protégé. "There were no drugs and no alcohol, the only thing I took was some mild medication for my headache."
"That, that's good. We can work with that. We'll have to check the traffic cameras, there might be something there that police missed in the beginning." Mike told her, adjusting his shoulder bag before both Harvey and he stood up. "We'll get back to you as soon as we got something for the case."
The lawyer buttoned up his jacket and nodded at his associate to wait outside. "I'll be right there, Mike."
"I'm glad he finally got his life together." Elle said, looking over at the closed front door.
Clearing his throat, Harvey watched the mother-of-two. "How have you been doing?" It had been a while since he saw her but she hadn't changed one bit. "It's been a while, Elle."
"I got married to a dick head, he screwed me over with his secretary and now he took my kids away. I'd say I'm doing quite good." she pointed out, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
He shoved his hands into his pants pockets, knowing if he'd move just one muscle he'd compromise everything they'd need to work for. "I'm sorry about Tanner, I had the privilege to meet him twice now and the last time I decked him."
"Good for you, Harvey, he probably deserved it." Elle whispered, not knowing how to act around him. "So - uhm - do you think I got a chance to get my kids back?"
"We're going to try everything in our power to win this."
She raised her eyebrows at the dark haired lawyer. "Try?"
"Do." he corrected, "We'll do everything to win. Mike is the best and brightest associate Pearson Hardman ever had."
Giving him a small smile. "I'm glad you took my case. I trust Mike, and I trust you. All I want you to do is give it your best, I don't want my kids ending up with a foster family."
"I promise." Harvey said moving toward the door, opening it and watching his associate fidget in the hallway. "Ready to tackle Tanner?"
Mike turned to his boss, already seeing the determination written across his face. "We're tackling him?"
"He ain't gonna know what hit him."

A Terrible Twosome
Prompt: Anon: A costume office party with Donna in a really hot outfit getting lots attention to Harvey's dismay.
mrgaretcarter: Donna wears a sexy costume for a Halloween party and drives Harvey nuts, they can already be together or not --
Donna was sitting in her office, reviewing the budget from quarter three when the tell-tale signs of Harvey's boredom let itself be known.
"Sexy nurse and hunky doctor," his voice rang out through the intercom on her phone.
She sighed internally. This idea is the fourth iteration of a couples costume he's brought up. One was a pregnant nun and sexy priest. Another was all the list of couples in Marvel comics. And the last had been Ariel and Prince Eric. That one had been last night when he thought she was taking too long in the bath and he told her if she stayed in there any longer, she'd turn into a shrivelled prune mermaid. Clearly, he had a one-track mind lately.
"Don't you have a meeting or court to prepare for?" Donna asks as she eyes the intercom.
"Court," Harvey says. "But I have time, and you know it. I always get five minutes of your time on court days since I haven't gone to trial without doing our thing for the past thirteen years."
"Our thing is now you fantasising about couples Halloween costumes before trial?" Donna asks as she scrolls down the page and sighs aloud as she finds Louis's track changes. There's a lot of justification for the extreme expenditures of the quarter, and he's promised the billables will cover expenses by year-end.
"You and Louis are the ones that organise the party each year," Harvey reminds her. "It's not my fault Louis told me there's a prize for best costume. You know I like to win."
"There is a prize every year and I have won it for the past eight years so I don't see what that has to do with a sexy nurse and hunky doctor," Donna says as she keeps her laugh from bubbling over. She knows exactly what she's doing. A smile makes it to her lips, but since he's not here, he can't see it.
"Are couples not supposed to have the same themes at these things?" Harvey questions.
She can imagine the look on his face right now. He's probably furrowing his brow with his lips set in a line masking his confusion. He may be new at this, but he knows how the game is played from all the themed parties they've gone to through the years in which she's planned out every detail of what they both wear.
"I mean, that's kinda true, but Rachel and I were planning our Halloween costumes long before you and I became a couple," Donna reminds him.
"And you still haven't told me what you are planning, so I figured," he trails off.
"Nope," Donna says as she can't keep the laugh in anymore. "Plus, I've already planned your costume. It will be in your office on Halloween just before the party," she lets him know.
"How long have you been planning that one?" Harvey wonders.
"All professional Halloweeners start solidifying plans in July," Donna reminds him. Because she always asks for the day off in July. This year was no different. And, she knew if she didn't give him a costume, she'd see him sulking in his suit he'd wear to the office that day.
He makes a noise of acceptance, and when he doesn't say anything down the intercom line, she thinks she can get back to reading.
Ten minutes later, she hears a slight shuffle and rustle of his suit, and she looks up as he enters her office.
He comes around her desk, leaning against it, and she moves from her chair and steps between them with a brow raised and her head tilted ever so slightly.
Her fingers reach for his tie as his aim for her waist. She sets the knot without a dimple at the centre of his starched collar. She softly smiles as she looks him over and finds he meets approval. With the slightest of nods, she indicates her approval. His fingers tighten on her hips and bring her closer as he stands before slightly tilting his head and leaning down and presses his lips to hers. The newer ritual had been a callback to their earlier days in the DA's office when they had been flirtier and far less serious than they had been the last thirteen years since then. She had always enjoyed cleaning him up a little more since he was a reflection of her, she always reminded him. So, the can opener stayed in her file cabinet, and she cleaned him up a little.
"This would be so much more fun with whipped cream," he says as he pulls back and gives her a small, gloating grin.
"Mmh, whipped cream is only for winners," she reminds him as her fingers run along his lapels before she steps back and leans against her windowsill runner.
"Oh and everything, Donna," he reminds her as he rounds her desk and heads for the door. "Oh and everything."
Donna's cheeks puff as she lets out a long breath as she leans back against the window and watches him meet Rachel Zane at the elevators for their case. His hands are in his pockets, and he's got a little smirk playing on his lips. He's apparently re-opened the Harvey Specter University of Gloating, and she only has herself to blame. -- As usual, she takes Halloween off to prepare her elaborate costumes that tend to win her the "best dressed" award. This year is no different, but at least she has a buddy while Kurtis Dam-Mikkelsen does her hair and makeup for her costume. And, Rachel will join in the fray as soon as she sees the detail and how ridiculously gorgeous Donna looks and wants to look as put together as her best friend.
They're at Donna's condo with a bottle of Prosecco and berries shared between the three of them. Rachel also snacks on the fun size M&M's that Donna threw in the shopping basket when she and Harvey were at Target looking for replacement light bulbs for her place, and Halloween decorations for the office as Donna gets her hair and makeup done. And, maybe the young lawyer takes videos and pictures of the process to be posted later.
Once Rachel's hair and makeup are done, her Halloween costume is complete. Unlike Donna, she had all the materials needed for this particular costume adventure. Donna couldn't get them all without raising suspicion, so they have one last stop to make before they head back to the office for the party.
Her shoes tap out a familiar click on the hardwood as she moved to his bedroom and opened his closet to stand at his tie rack. Once she selected a beloved black tie, she moved to the other side of the room where a tall dresser and mirror sit, and she ties the Windsor knot--his favourite knot of his choice--and Rachel watches her smooth down the collar again.
"Huh," Rachel says as she looks around the room.
"What?" Donna answers back as she looks at Rachel in the mirror as she opens a few drawers and pulls out the final little details of her costume to put on.
"Well, I've never been in Harvey's bedroom," Rachel shrugged, and at Donna's questioning look, she clarifies. "Mike and I were here for wedding venue planning. And then my dad visited with me, and he went in here, but it was too weird for me."
"And?" Donna asks.
"Honestly, I didn't expect it to be so... bright and homey," Rachel confesses as she looks around. She notices familiar pairs of Donna's heels are on the floor of the open closet. Some of her dresses and coats also hang on hangers near familiar bulkier ones.
"Come on," Donna says as she finishes off her outfit. "We've got jaws to drop."
Rachel laughs and follows Donna out of the condo and down to the street where Ray idles, waiting to deliver them to Pearson Specter Litt. -- To any party, she's fashionably late. When she's his plus one, which has been quite often in the past fifteen years, she let him in on that secret. So, its no surprise he and Mike arrive on time, and the ladies arrive eight minutes late with all eyes turning to the doors for their dramatic entrance.
When she walked into the Pearson Specter Litt library with Rachel Zane at her side, he did a double take. Triple, if he's honest with himself as she and Rachel step in line to get their photo taken.
"You okay, buddy?" Mike Ross asks as he slaps Harvey on the back. For anyone else, it would be considered a comforting gesture. For Mike Ross and Harvey Specter, it's less sympathetic and more 'oh, shit; you're in trouble; it was nice knowing you; or Mike's personal favourite--here lies Harvey Reginald Specter: the cause of death is Donna Roberta Paulsen.'
Harvey would recognise a Tom Ford anywhere. The suit is perfectly fitted, looking sharp, flattering, and remarkable on her frame. There's only one man she'd trust with tailoring a suit and she wonders if he should send René a shipment of the finest scotch money could buy. And perhaps bribe his tailor to make more matching suits for them.
She'd taken the charcoal coloured O'Conner three-piece suit designed for men and tailored it to her frame. He's pretty sure that suit is a favourite of hers that he owns so it's not a stretch that he recognises the same peak lapels that aren't too high nor too low at her shoulder. He doesn't have to be looking at her intimately to know the buttonhole is a classic handstitched raised hole, separating hers from any other suit jacket.
Since its a three-piece suit, she naturally wears the vest that matches with the rest of the O'Conner suit. He can see it peeking out between her single buttoned-up suit jacket.
The pants are a plain, tailored slim fit that somehow René has tailored to fit her long legs. The pants themselves are not pleated but have an ironed crease that gives them an extra classy look. He notices she foregoes heels for his favourite Tom Ford black leather brogues.
His favourite has to be her hair, though. Its coifed into some magic updo that looks remarkably similar to the way he styles his hair. By the end of the night, he's definitely going to figure out how many bobby pins are holding that together. He'll bet somewhere in the high thirties.
She has his look and attitude down, but that's no surprise to anyone.
Peelings his eyes away from Donna so he doesn't hurt his jaw from keeping his face impassive as Mike continues to watch him watch his girlfriend, he turns his introspection to Donna's best friend.
Rachel wears a pitch black Zenga suit like Mike does on occasion. Her lapels are notched just below her shoulder in the same pattern as Mike's suits. Much like her fiancé, Rachel opts for a two-piece, meaning no vest, and has a throwback to Mike's better senior associate days with a softer collar, white Zenga, and a light gray J. Crew skinny tie.
Her hair isn't styled as much as Donna's but it is up in some sort of updo that makes her hair look short compared to her typically long hair.
"Need a drink?" Mike Ross asks, already knowing the answer is going to be yes.
When they get to the drinks table, Mike watches his boss/friend and hides his smirk behind his tumbler. The three fingers of scotch Harvey pours himself is his way of coping with the whole "look but don't touch...much" rule he's favoured up until now. -- He has a thing for three-piece Tom Fords. He has a thing for Donna. So, naturally, Donna wearing a three-piece Tom Ford suit tailored to within millimetres of her size, it was only natural he clenched his jaw and broods in the corner as she went around the room without even acknowledging him as he leans against a table in the back of the library. She's ridiculously popular with the associates tonight, and everyone seems to enjoy taking pictures with Pearson Specter Litt's COO and newest associate.
He sits up a little straighter as she meets his eyes after talking with Katrina dressed as Tchaikovsky's Odile, the Black Swan ballerina, and she walks arm in arm with Rachel as they head over to where he and Mike sit.
"Happy Halloween, boys," Donna gave an exaggerated wink to Rachel and Donna clinked her flute of champagne with Rachel's own as they adopt a classic Mike and Harvey stance of being good cop, bad cop.
"Wow," Mike got out as he continued to stare. "You look... wow."
"Donna tied it," Rachel shrugs, as Mike looks at the small four-in-hand knot of Rachel's slim light gray tie.
"You know how to tie a tie like me?" Mike asks somewhat warily as he looks at Donna.
"I was one of those kids who got to pick out dad's tie when I was little," Donna shrugged. "And, you tie a surprising amount in theatre troupes."
Mike suddenly picture Louis in his costume that Harvey had shown him last year and he shakes his head. Briefly, he wonders where the hell Louis is because he hasn't seen him all night.
"I'm confused," Mike announces after a few minutes of watching the party going on around them. "I mean, I get why Harvey is a Yankee because he bleeds pinstripes but why am I, Robin?"
"Michelle Ross, please inform this pleb who you are," Donna says as she gets an air of Harvey Specter arrogance about her as she looks between Harvey and Mike.
"Michelle Ross is pretty much a legal superhero," Rachel said as she lifted her chin, daring the two men to defy her. “I can recite the Constitution frontwards, backwards, and sideways because I read it once when I was seven.”
Its a few minutes of quiet pondering by Mike as he makes the connection.
"I get it," Mike laughs. He turns to Harvey. "You're some closer because Harvey Specter...er, Harriet Specter, is the best god damn closer this City's ever seen. I'm Robin because I'm, uh, Michelle Ross, is a legal superhero and also the best damn sidekick."
"Four for you, Glen Coco," Donna dips her chin in acknowledgement of his successful connection of the themes within the themes. "But, as you can see, Harvey's a little dumbfounded you have no idea who he is. I mean, that's a replica straight from the team presses this afternoon."
The group waits for Harvey to explain who the hell he is but he's busy having a staring contest with Donna, so Mike and Rachel look to one another and then to either half of the older couple with small grins.
"I'm thirsty," Donna says as she dips her chin to Harvey and then turns to Rachel. "Let's go be badasses over there."
Harvey's hand clenches the glass he holds.
"Shitttt," Mike laughs as he realises their champagne glasses were quite full. "She's good." -- It had gotten worse for his sanity when she had taken off the suit jacket somewhere in the second or third hour of this shindig.
She's alone when she steps up to his side as he leans against a unit of shelving in the library, watching the festivities, he gives her a not-so-subtle once-over now that they're well and truly alone since Mike and Rachel are sitting and eating food at a table.
The vest itself if a classic single-breasted v-cut with six buttons. Since she's left her suit jacket on the chair next to Rachel, he counts the six buttons with the last button left undone like he typically wears. Her button-down is a familiar looking white, stiff collar Brioni that has french cuffs he assumes are buttoned neatly with cufflinks. She foregoes a belt as this particular suit has the side adjusters. And he's confident if she's had it tailored for her size to this degree, they also took care of the adjusters, too.
When she subtly takes the glass tumbler from his hand to drink from, he notices the H.S. on the cuff of her shirt. And, it was the only time the flush on her cheeks wasn't because of the heat of the room or the alcohol in her hand which hasn't entirely gone to her head but makes her a little more approachable in the associates' minds.
"My shirt, my tie, my cufflinks, and my pocket square," he lists as he takes stock of her custom costume again. He looks closer and notices his Cartier Tank is on her slender wrist. At least she hadn't taken out links to make it fit her wrist. "My watch. Did you also steal my underwear and are you going to tell me that's actually my suit?"
"What's mine is yours," she says as she laughs. "Render unto Caesar, and all that."
"That's an evasive answer," Harvey counters.
"Undergarments are my own, and the suit is my own," she says with a saucy wink. "As far as you know, at least."
He watches her walk away, and she looks back this time with a grin. He only notices a few minutes later that she stole his drink. -- She's sitting at a table alone, eating the mini sandwiches, pasta salad, and various desserts she and Louis ordered for tonight from the café down the street that knows how to make the best turkey sandwiches when he sits down and takes one of her pickles and steals her fork and spears some pasta salad.
"So, does this count as a couples costume?" He asks as she looks over at him with a sandwich in her hand. "See, that's funny because I'm wearing a Mariano Rivera replica and you're Harvey Specter, the best god damn closer the City's ever seen. So, we're a couple of closers."
"Mmh," Donna says as she drops her sandwich on her plate and reaches for her drink. She extends a finger as she holds her scotch glass in her hand. Its a prop but also works very well as a bring-your-own-glass considering she swiped it from Harvey's office minutes before she and Rachel arrived in the library. "I'm Harriet Specter."
"Who is your alter ego when you go drinking with Rachel at happy hour," Harvey clarified. "Who is modelled after Harvey Specter. Ergo, you are Harvey Specter."
"I'm not answering that on the grounds that I don't want to," she says with a shrug of her shoulders.
His fingers slip into hers under the table, and she smiles as she takes her fork back from him as he steals the sandwich she had dropped on her plate to put him in his place. -- He had followed her to the washroom in his condo as they finally got home at two in the morning. He was exhausted but also remembered he wanted to see how many bobby pins held her hair in his signature style.
"Only seven bobby pins?" Harvey asks as he watches her take down her hair from its coifed volume.
He leans against the doorframe, and his head hits the wood as she runs a brush through the product.
She meets his eyes in the mirrored reflection and laughs.
"Were you expecting more?" She asks. "I mean there would probably be more if I went to another stylist, but Kurtis is a go-to miracle worker."
She washes her face, and then they brush their teeth, and she's briefly debating a shower when he wraps an arm around her waist.
"So, first Halloween in the books," he says as he looks at her in a mirror.
"It'll be hard to top," she notes. "I promise next year we'll have a real couples costume."
"I kinda liked this one," Harvey says honestly as she turns and he unbuttons her suit jacket.
"One last thing," Donna says as she stands on her tiptoes and wraps her arms around his neck.
He raises a brow.
"I'm going to close the shit out of you," Donna says as she manoeuvres them from the washroom to the bedroom and he sits back on his mattress.
He chuckles, and she carefully settles her knees on either side of him, leaning in close and presses her lips to his.
He briefly wonders if, since she's a winner, he should get the whipped cream to celebrate her ninth year of domination. Instead, he sheds her suit jacket to the floor and she begins her closing statement.

My Top 10s: TV Shows
I’m planning on doing a little series of my top 10s, partly in celebration of getting 900 followers (like that has any relevance) and mostly because I just like listing things. Also, if a show is on this list, you should definitely check it out!
1. Sherlock
Why I love it: It’s just bloody brilliant. It’s a haunting, clever, whimsical, heart-wrenching modernization of the greatest detective in literature. It makes the stakes higher and warms the heart of the story and brings with it so much of the mythos of the original in an utterly novel retelling.
Favorite character: Sherlock Holmes. I know it’s cliche. But I just--I can’t choose anyone else. (I would choose everyone else, basically--I love the main characters SO MUCH.)
Favorite episode: The Reichenbach Fall & The Final Problem (tie)
Ships: Sherlolly, Warstan
2. Supernatural
Why I love it: It’s a modern Odyssey meets Western meets horror movie, and it’s about two brothers. It’s all about brothers. I FREAKING LOVE BROTHERS.
Favorite character: Dean Winchester. I’m in love, always and forever.
Favorite episode: Swan Song
Ships: Sam/Sarah, Dean/Bela, Dean/Jo, Bobby/Jody
3. Suits
Why I love it: It’s the show that made me go to law school. It’s slick and funny and smart, and it also tugs at the heartstrings like no other. Plus, like most USA shows, it has a small main cast who you get to know super well.
Favorite character: Harvey Specter & Donna Paulsen (tie) (I can’t separate them, even here)
Favorite episode: Intent (the one where Harvey says, You know I love you, Donna)
Ships: DARVEY
4. Marvel’s Daredevil
Why I love it: It had me sold on the very first scene. I couldn’t put it down. I was terrified and electrified and it’s such a gritty Catholic film noir masquerading as a superhero show. SIGN ME UP.
Favorite character: Matthew Murdock, my beloved blind Catholic ninja avocado
Favorite episode: Cut Man #originalhallwayfightscene
Ships: ClaireDevil; Elektra/Matt; Karen/Frank
5. Friday Night Lights
Why I love it: I never thought I’d love a show about football, but I was 100% in by the very first episode. The quality of this show is so vastly superior to almost everything else that exists. The entire first season is so pitch perfect you are enthralled by the ENTIRE THING (I know, I just rewatched it). You cry. A lot. You laugh. A lot. It is the real-est show I’ve ever seen.
Favorite character: Tim Riggins. I’d marry him. I’d save him. He’s beautiful.
Favorite episode: I Think We Should Have Sex (1x17--it’s so tragic)
Ships: Tim/Tyra, Tami/Coach T.
6. White Collar
Why I love it: It’s the first show I ever watched. It was so cool and interesting and exciting and it remains just the biggest dose of glamorous FUN you’ve ever seen. Watch it at once.
Favorite character: Neal Caffrey & Peter Burke (again, you can’t have one without the other)
Favorite episode: Au Revoir (the most beautiful, perfect finale)
Ships: Elizabeth/Peter (THE OTP), Neal/Alex
7. The Office
Why I love it: I don’t care much for comedy, in general, but this show is not only hilarious, it is REAL. It is, perhaps, the best comedy show ever created.
Favorite character: Jim Halpert
Favorite episode: Casino Night
Ships: Jim/Pam, Michael/Holly, Dwight/Angela (who else could they be with?)
8.  Agent Carter
Why I love it: It’s the most beautiful little show--vintage and yet very, very compelling. And it tells a story that needed to be told SO BADLY.
Favorite character: Peggy Carter
Favorite episode: Both season finales were fantastic.
Ships: Peggy/Sousa ALL THE WAY (except that my heart still wants Peggy/Steve! What! To! Do!); Johnson/Surviving
9.  Stranger Things
Why I love it: I can’t believe that this gem didn’t exist such a short time ago. It feels like it’s ALWAYS existed. It’s funny and real, and it’s scary and fantastic, and it gives you a cast of young heroes to LOVE, and it’s just...it’s pitch-perfect.
Favorite character: Eleven
Favorite episode: The Upside Down (because I like angst and season finales, apparentl)
Ships: Mileven
10.  Once Upon a Time*
*I haven’t finished Season 6. This show frustrated me in a big way but there was a time when I couldn’t get enough of it.
Why I love(d) it: Modern fairytales! And one of the best ships of all time. At its prime, it was so wonderfully magical. It told stories with heart and whimsy, and it could be eerie and it could make me cry. It lost the magic, in my opinion.
Favorite character: Both halves of Captain Swan
Favorite episode: Tallahassee; Good Form; and The Captain Swan Movie (i.e., the last two episodes of Season 3)
Ships: CAPTAIN SWAN; Snowing

Harvey and his mother issue, 6x12, I am not over this.
Tumblr media
Since I’ve seen this episode I think about this Harvey and Lily (child-mother) relationship all the time . I haven’t been able to watch any further episodes because Harvey’s mother topic still doesn’t end up for me. I need to get this off my chest.
Bear with me or scroll on, but I have to express my thoughts. Because after I saw this “Harvey-forgives-his-mother” episode I felt as if I was standing on the edge of an abyss. And I got angry!
There are too many mixed layers. On top of that the “mother topic” is handled like a sacred cow and you do not mess with that. There is this unwritten rule, where no one is allowed to say  bad things about mothers, specially not on a TV show.
To tag a mother as not caring or (Heaven forbid!) abusive is as equal as to point out that the earth is flat. This means if you want to deal with that matter it needs bravery. This here is for Harvey. I am brave for him, so I just get it over with.
Tumblr media
This is my very own opinion. I don’t want to step on any toes.
Layer 1: Lily and Gordon Specter / Parents
Tumblr media
Everybody who has had some serious relationship knows what it needs to keep it going, keep it sane, stay happy and devoted to each other. If there are kids involved everything gets more intense, more difficult to stay that loving couple that you once were.
Lily and Gordon loved each other, they got married and built a family . Life took a toll on them. They started to quarrel, to have misunderstandings. They grew apart as a couple.
Gordon was a saxophonist and he had been often on tour. He was away from his family for a long time. Maybe he had affairs too?  Lily had to deal with their children all alone. She was left behind. I don’t know, how this must have been for her. For sure there were sarrows, financial issues, difficulties with the boys and also loneliness. Lily and Gordon had both messed up. Both were equally responsible for the problems in their relationship. The show only shows the flaws from Lily. I can’t recall any from Gordon. He always got the role of the loving, caring father. I got the impression that Gordon didn’t want to see what was going on. He closed his eyes from the obvious facts and with this he burdend Harvey too.
Layer 2: Harvey and his father, Gordon Specter
Tumblr media
Gordon was Harvey’s hero. He admired and adored his father.  Harvey felt responsible for him. He wanted to protect his father from any emotional pain. Although his father put Harvey in a summer boxing camp that seemed to be the living hell. Harvey suffered there, but was proud not to give in. There were already too many responsbilites for him as a child, and a teenager. It was wrong from his father to leave Harvey in charge with his family while Gordon was on tour. Harvey was a kid and this burden was too heavy.
No child can be “the man in the house” when the father has to be away to earn money. This is bullshit. The child suffers always, because of being a CHILD!
I guess Harvey never witnessed his father on tour, after a concert, backstage with all the groupies waiting. Every musician has groupies. And Gordon was maybe lonely too.
Layer 3: Lily Specter
Tumblr media
Maybe Lily needed comfort after long years married to a musician.  Maybe she felt lonesome and longed for someone with whom she could share her everydays life. I don’t say it is right, what she did. But I don’t judge her for what she had done because I never walked in her shoes, so I am not allowed to judge her for sleeping with other men. I do accuse her though of this abusive way she treated Harvey when he caught her almost in the act. Lily was reckless to bring another men into her children’s home. Totally stupid! So, she  swore her son to secrecy! This is serious and totally wrong. There she neglected completely her motherhood. She was gutless and abusive with her little son Harvey. No mother is allowed to do such a thing to her child. NO excuses for her acting in this matter.
Tumblr media
Layer 4: Harvey’s burden
Harvey almost collapsed mentally under this pressure to know his mother went on sleeping with other men. He truly felt as if he personally betrayed his father. Instead of protecting her son from this abuse his mother repeatedly used Harvey as a shield between Gordon and her secret affairs. Harvey loaded all the responsibility on his shoulders to protect his father from the truth. Conjugal problem DO NOT belong in child’s hands no matter how old this child is. This has to be solved by the parents themselves. Each parent is obligated to protect their child from any harm.
Tumblr media
And to be honest, I don’t buy the fact that Gordon never noticed anything, what was going on behind his back, when he was on the road. He went on to pretend everything is fine with his family. I am so sure of that.
Harvey couldn’t carry that burden of knowledge anymore and he confronted his father. Harvey was so mad at Gordon because he expected Gordon to NOTICE anything. And Gordon never did.
Tumblr media
There was this boxing fight with his father. Harvey was SO ANGRY and SO HURT. He actually hit his father HARD and Gordon TOOK those blows as if he knew, he earned them. Harvey was screaming, yelling, crying while he told his father that his mother is cheating on him. And what did Gordon do? He ignored it!! He didn’t help Harvey to ease his burden, his agony from all those years of knowing. Gordon actually shouted at Harvey and put him in a place, where Harvey felt wrong, misstreated but Gordon was his hero. Harvey was torn. He walked away and felt more out of place than ever. Neither his father nor his mother took care of Harvey.  This was so very wrong from BOTH of them.
Tumblr media
 Layer 5: Harvey’s agony
After that the family fall apart. EVERYONE blamed Harvey. I still can’t believe this shit! Neither Gordon nor Lily helped Harvey to ease his pain to let him know, that Harvey didn’t do anything wrong.  Harvey thought and still thinks, that he was responsible for his family to go to pieces. Both of his parents, mother and father, misstreated Harvey and hurt his soul and his heart so many times. They didn’t act as parents, they just wanted to look away. They didn’t want to see what was really happening. Instead of talking about their own problems Harvey found himself as the black sheep, as the traitor. Even Marcus turned his back on him and accused him for destorying the family.
This kills the soul and the trust in every child! Harvey took a severe hit to his heart and his believe in relationships. He learnt to mistrust his emotions. He left, broken, abused, insecure and so sure, he is the one who destroyed his family.
Tumblr media
Here I accuse Gordon and Lily for this cruel part and their neglecting acting as parents.
Level 6: The aftermath and the impact for Harvey’s relationships
Tumblr media
Harvey has built a life where he only satisfies his needs in every way without being emotionally involved. Whenever he wanted to start a relationship there were all the ghosts from the past that hunted him. He tried hard, but it didn’t work out.
His yearning for a family never faded. As an abused child there is always this longing for love and for an understanding mother. Harvey put his mother in the center of his turmoil. He behaved as if he hated her. But his inner, little boy was full of scares and wounds and there is no chance at all that an abused child would EVER get over this knowledge that his own mother sold him emotionally so she could stay safe. Harvey was so extremly afraid to meet her again, because everything would  be ripped open all over again and he knew he would lose it.
His father stayed untouched. Gordon is Harvey’s hero and he misses him so much, although Gorden bore the blame too why Harvey has grown into this emotional crippled person he used to hide so well.
Tumblr media
And now Harvey is a grown man. The abused child is no more a child, it is a man. His mother will never be able to heal those wounds, because it happened during childhood. Those days are gone, forever. Harvey never dealt with his issues, never dared to touch this topic…
Tumblr media
And than Mike comes in his life. Mike stirs emotions in Harvey, he never thought he would have. Mike becomes the center of Harvey’s life, even if he doesn’t want to see it. Mike means everything to Harvey. That’s why he fights tooth and nail for Mike. Everytime, in every single situation, ALWAYS! Because he loves him with his whole heart and he just can’t bear to lose him too! With Mike at his side he starts to feel again. There are panic attacks and Mike is the only one to whom Harvey opens up about them. Mike becomes his center of life, his reason to go on.
Tumblr media
Mike understands Harvey like no one else, but there is a point where also Mike can’t be a substitute to a lost dream. Mike can’t be a replacement for Harvey’s lost family. Mike can’t safe Harvey’s little, abused boy. Nobody can. But Mike can show Harvey how to protect his own little boy. Harvey has to meet Mike as a grown man. Harvey needs to accept that Mike won’t leave him ever, but Mike needs Harvey’s trust. Harvey needs to learn to let Mike make his own decisions without interfering.
Tumblr media
And Donna knows so much about Harvey and his family issues. Bless Donna for her insight and her way how to treat Harvey. She knows when to say the right things and how to breach Harvey’s iron walls of fear to lose again, to be not loved anymore. So her sentence she whispered to him, was pure gold: “I don’t know if we can be the family to fill your void. Go deal with your mother.” (Not exactly her words, but the meaning is important). And Harvey understands what she means!
There he really starts to show all his emotions because his fears seems to eat him alive.
Harvey has an outer shell. His image as a shark and this rich, ass-kicking bastard is a disguise for what he tries to hide, even from himself. He still carries this insecure inner, little boy in his soul who is afraid that he has betrayed his beloved ones.
His is so afraid to lose. And he craves desperately for a family. So he just adopts his colleagues without asking and with a false hope that they could substitute for the one family he lost.
Tumblr media
With all the background here I do understand Harvey so well, that with Jessica leaving for good, he only could feel this deep and black abyss opening up. He thought that he lost already Mike and Donna. He can’t take another blow. He is scared to death to drown in the empty space of losing all his second family and history repeats itself anew. He doesn’t know how to deal with it. He gets paralyzed with this and can’t handle his task as managing partner interim. He broods over the fact, that Jessica is gone and he can’t think further. He is always so close to let his tears fall. He acts so emotionally and he seems utterly lost.
I was proud of Harvey that he met his mother. BUT forgiveness is a difficult word. How does this work? I don’t know, I only know you can’t use this word here. As a child the only thing you can do is see your mother again, stand this fucking, aching pain and try to either build a new relationship or leave for good. His mother can’t undo what she did years ago. It will be a wound in Harvey’s soul that never will heal properly.
Tumblr media
His mother still thinks Harvey LEFT his family although she feels sorry for what she has done. But still now, SHE DOESN’T SEE WHAT SHE HAD DONE TO HARVEY. And as a loving child your always want to be back in your mother’s arms. So Harvey accept his role, but somehow he made his peace with his mother and with his brother.
I really get it what was going on in Harvey at his father’s furneral years ago, at the reception when he saw Bobby.
And now after he saw his mother again and went to see Marcus, at Marcus’s place when he was so astonished to hear that Marcus had been sick again. Harvey still protects his father and he still stands alone with all his pain. Nothing is solved. Harvey just gives in, because he needs his family. This was such a shitty solution, because Harvey forgave his mother and somehow admitted that he was the one who did something wrong.
Tumblr media
My heart bleeds for Harvey because I feel him so well. That’s why he needs Mike so much. Mike is his sun, his breath, his life. Mike is EVERYTHING for Harvey. And Mike is the only person, who knows Harvey and  what he needs.
Tumblr media
I could go on for pages to ponder over Harvey and what he revealed of his innermost feelings. I love Harvey so much. He is brave and so vulnerable and yes…I understand him better now and I always will see this loving, tender and protecting side Harvey tries to hide. And I will always write stories with this side of Harvey.
Tumblr media
My conclusion from this fucking long post here?
Parents can fuck up big time and a child has to deal with that for a lifetime. The wounds in the child’s soul will never heal. The only thing that this child can do is to try and to live with this wounds. And it is okay if you turn your back on your family because they have treated you so bad. It is fucking okay to do that! If you are not ready to do that, try to live with what happened. There is nothing in between and the pain in your heart will never fade, because your mother betrayed you BIG TIME!
So the essence what the show wanted to present in 6x12…Harvey should forgive his mother because he doesn’t want to be angry anymore is utter bullshit. It just doesn’t work like that and again, Harvey would agree to the fact that he was responsible for the aftermath that parted his family. BUT HE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE AND NEVER WILL BE.
Thanks a lot for reading and I hope I made some sense with my attempt to explain this entanglement of family issues. And sorry for any typos.

Marriage on the Rocks, with a Twist (TGP, Episode 10)
Tumblr media
Today Eli is forced to watch and recap Marriage on the Rocks, with a Twist, Episode 10 of The Golden Palace.  Roland finds himself confronting some hard truths about his family, while Rose gets drawn into a devious radio prank orchestrated by Sophia…or does she?  You’ll have to keep reading to find out…
Drew is still on hiatus, but I know I’m excited to see him dive into the wild and wonderful (and eventually terrible) films of the Pierce Brosnan era!  For now, however, you’ll have to settle for another recap from yours truly.  But I’m just as eager for the next chapter of the project as any of our presumably dozens and dozens of readers, so without further ado, let’s head to the Palace!
Buttocks tight!
Episode written by Marc Cherry and Jamie Wooten, directed by Peter D. Beyt
We open on Chuy hanging up a banner for a live radio broadcast that will be happening from the hotel, which I guess makes sense?  Roland learns that his parents are coming to visit, and he’s pretty sure they have some bad news to deliver in person.  Oh no, perhaps his beloved pet Taffy has died!  The radio DJs for the upcoming broadcast, Milton and Bill (Tim Conway and Harvey Korman) show up to subject everyone to their insufferable routine.  Sophia, who is well-acquainted with torture and by extension these morning zoo goofballs, suggests setting her dumb friend Rose up for one of Stevie and the Booger’s classic pranks.
Roland’s parents arrive and are impressed by the hotel.  They say they want to go to their room, but Roland is ready to rip off the Band-Aid and hear the bad news right away.  His mother and father concede and admit that they are getting a divorce.  Roland doesn’t take this news well.  Oh, and Taffy is also super dead, so it’s shaping up to be quite the day.
That evening, P.J. and Toenail are delivering their famous banter with a couple of handheld mics and some sight gags, which is totally how radio production works.  They interview Blanche, and hit her with a hilarious (nope) gag suggesting she is either a transvestite or a transsexual…I mean, who can be bothered to keep these labels straight?  Certainly not Ollie and the Bandit.  Blanche, to no avail, insists that she is a bog standard woman, but she has to settle for whatever publicity she can get.  The wacky duo then decides to play a game with the audience, and suckers Rose into participating by offering up some magic beans.  Everything seems to be going according to Sophia’s plan.  We learn that Jojo is going to ask Rose a series of questions while Pancake is submerged in a tank of water (which no doubt makes for some excellent audio).  If Rose can answer all of the questions successfully, his life will be spared.  Thankfully, the topic is farm trivia, but Rose is soon given the impossible task of quickly naming fifty different crops, and is then convinced that Lunchbox has drowned while she struggled.  Rose apologizes and runs away crying, while Sophia follows to watch.
In the kitchen, Chuy scolds Sophia for pranking Rose, who enters the scene to reveal that she has dedicated the rest of her days to the preservation of life.  She releases an innocent moth into the wild, and directly into a bug zapper, which doesn’t bode well for her new mission.  When Rose leaves, Sophia finally agrees to tell her the truth of the matter.  Meanwhile, Blanche thinks that she can help Roland’s parents reconcile and sits down with them to provide counseling.  Roland keeps interfering in the process, but it becomes clear that Mr. and Mrs. Wilson have some very deep problems.  Finally, Roland accepts that this chapter of their lives, and his, has reached its end.
Chuy takes Sophia to confess to Rose, but before she can, the hotel is invaded by the “ghost” of Milton (the old man in a sheet).  He has arrived to haunt Rose in another gag that has no real payoff for a listening audience, and pursues her into an adjacent room.  A moment later we hear gunfire, and Rose returns to the lobby with a pistol in hand, satisfied that she has sent a foul specter back to Hell.  Since this isn’t Rose’s first trigger-happy rodeo, Sophia freaks right out.  In a total panic she confesses that the whole ordeal with the water tank had been a joke.  With a devilish glint in her eye, Rose tells Sophia that the joke is actually on her.  That’s right, Rose knew exactly what was going on the whole time!  Gino and Tugboat re-emerge to share in the merriment, and Sophia fakes a heart attack.  Everyone laughs at her and leaves.
The End
My take on this episode might be a bit controversial!  While I thought the previous episode was kind of boring, there was definitely a lot happening this time around, and I’m sure that plenty of people ate it right up.  Unfortunately, I personally found the comedic stylings of Tim Conway and Harvey Korman to be annoying and completely unfunny.  I’m sure the writers and showrunners knew exactly what they were getting when they signed these two up, and I’m likely in the minority with my opinion, but it all just came off as trying way too hard.  The subplot with Roland’s parents, despite providing the episode title, seemed to exist solely to give Don Cheadle something to do for a while.  And even though I liked the performances given by the girls, the presence of the radio hosts just kind of soured me to the episode as a whole.  Unfortunately, I have to give Marriage on the Rocks, with a Twist a rating of 2.5 poofy hairdos out of 5, but as I said, I’m sure that other viewers would feel differently.
It’s nearly time for Drew to share hit hotly anticipated recap of GoldenEye, and then I’ll be back with a review of Camp Town Races Aren’t Nearly as Much Fun as They Used to Be, the next episode of The Golden Palace.  Until then, as always, thank you for being a friend, and for being One of Us!

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you have not watched Wednesday’s two-hour season finale of Suits. If you have, refresh your memory on how Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams were written off the show.
Suits is beginning a new chapter.
Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle‘s final episode on Suits aired Wednesday night, appropriately titled “Goodbye,” and it culminated in a romantic — and very last-minute — wedding ceremony for their characters, Mike Ross and Rachel Zane, that’s been years in the making. After saying their “I do’s” (read our farewell to Adams and Markle), Mike broke the news to his mentor and friend, Harvey Specter, that he and Rachel were leaving New York City. A new opportunity awaited them in Seattle, Washington, where they would get the chance to run their own legal clinic and help defend class-action lawsuits against Fortune 500 companies. Their goodbye was sweet and fitting, but leaves Suits with interesting possibilities for the future.
“[Season seven] stands out in the way that we have these two departures with Patrick and Meghan, and how seemingly right it feels for both their personal lives. But it’s an awkward transition, I think, for all of us to get acquainted with this new norm,” series star Gabriel Macht tells ET following Wednesday’s two-hour closer. “With the end of season seven, the fans will be fulfilled in that they do get married and they go off into the sunset in the right way. It makes total sense for Mike’s character to do what he wants to do.”
The 46-year-old actor, who has starred on the USA Network legal drama since its inception in 2011, reflected on Adams and Markle’s exits, admitting that not having Mike and Rachel within the fabric of the Suits universe is going to be “hard” for the fans and the cast moving forward “because these characters are so beloved.” But he’s already looking ahead to season eight, which will feature a notable new addition Katherine Heigl (a Suits superfan) and return fan favorites Amanda Schull and Dule Hill. (Production kicked off earlier this month in Toronto.) Still, though, Adams and Markle’s absence permeates.
“It’s been a real transition not having them on set,” Macht says. “There is a bit of a void — not to say that we haven’t gotten an incredible cast of actors who have come on board with us and the ensemble is so fresh and new. It’s part of the old, but it’s very new.”
Following the finale, ET spoke with Macht about what the departures of Adams and Markle means for Suits moving forward, why it’s been a difficult “transition” for him personally and scoop on season eight. (Plus, Macht shares his thoughts on if it’s time for Harvey and Donna to make it official.)
ET: We say goodbye to Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle in the finale with a stunning wedding. But Harvey seems stunned when Mike breaks the news that he’s leaving — this time, for good. What does having Mike and Rachel leaving for greener pastures mean for the series, and more specifically, Harvey?
Gabriel Macht: What is amazing about Harvey is that he has a lot of difficulty with regards to change — this idea that his right-hand man in Mike, and having his ace in his back pocket whenever Harvey is in trouble or has nowhere to turn when it comes to legalese, Mike is there in spades. That’s going to be a real eye-opener and it’s shocking for Harvey, as you see in that one moment [in the finale]. It’s another thematic element of Harvey’s growth where he has to step up, grow up and accept change, and really try and figure out what his place in the community, in his workplace, in the firm is going to be moving forward. In that one moment, his best friend, his younger brother, his confidant, his right-hand man, [Harvey’s realizing] he’s leaving now.

What does it mean for you?
When I speak personally about this, separate from Harvey, that moment was the last scene that I shot with Patrick. When we started this show almost eight years ago, this started off as a duo with the two of us really taking the lead and the show really surrounded the two of us. Thankfully, the show became more of an ensemble drama in its storytelling and we’ve been able to develop all the surrounding characters, and that’s been great. For Harvey and myself, to move forward without Mike and Patrick, there is a void. There is a sense of, like, something that we started together, we’re not finishing together. Patrick has an incredible sense of integrity and intelligence and charm and humor that comes with this show, and it’s so grounded, and I’ve relied on that gravitas. He’s told me that whenever I need to give him a call and cry on his shoulder, he’s all good with that. (Laughs.)
Harvey and Mike’s partnership really kick-started the series and made Suits what it is. How will that bromance void be filled now?
Well, I think it’s fair to say that to recreate Marvey [the ship name for Mike and Harvey] in any way is going to be impossible. There’s definitely room for romantic behavior with other characters. There are times where you see it with Harvey and Louis. The seed was planted that Alex and Harvey were close as friends, so there are opportunities there. Even with Rachel’s father, there’s definitely places where we’ll take the piss out of each other and playfully tease each other in a testosterone-filled way that engages the male audience. (Laughs.)
Harvey and Donna went through a lot, especially in the back half of the season. How do you feel about where things stand with them at the end of the finale?
They have had a rocky road in that they have both really tried to question as best they can their relationship in relation to each other. I thought Harvey was really falling Paula in many ways. Her error of judgment was, “You gotta fire Donna to make this work.” That sort of sparked an awakening in Harvey that maybe Paula wasn’t as generous and as thoughtful and as passionate to Harvey’s needs as he thought. And maybe it was meant for a reason that this all happened to really question his own motivations with Donna. It’s created a lot of questions. At this point, they’re on level with each other and moves forward in a business-like manner because there has been so much dealings with the firm, possibly losing the firm. I think that that took over their focus. Moving forward into season eight, I think those questions will come up again.

It’s been seven seasons of a will they/won’t they dance and there’s a growing feeling among fans that it’s time for them to make a concrete decision about their relationship status. Do you personally think it’s time for Harvey and Donna to make the leap?
Yeah, look, I understand that. The only thing that I can say is there are people out there who have these types of relationships. Sometimes they last 25 years and their brothers and sisters and their best friends are like, “What the hell are you doing? Why don’t you guys just hook up already and get together?” Who knows? Maybe they’re not right for each other. At the end of the day, maybe, just maybe they’re not right for each other. Maybe they are?
You were an integral part of Gina Torres’ Chicago-set planted political spinoff in the finale. How interwoven will the new show be with Suits?
Our finale was more so a catalyst for creating a new story with one of our original characters. Moving forward, I have no idea what they’re thinking as far as bringing recognizable characters from Suits onto their show. I’m so happy and thrilled for Gina that it got picked up. The story is really located now in Chicago and as you saw in the finale, there’s no reason why people can’t jump on a plane and appear in their world. But I think it is somewhat of a separate world in the beginning of the storytelling. If and when they come to me and say, “Hey, would you like to take part in this storyline?,”  I’ll have to take a look at it at that point. But there’s no reason why characters can’t show up.
The show is welcoming a new partner at Specter Litt in season eight, played by Katherine Heigl. What does she bring to the table that breathes new life into Suits universe?
There are a lot of similarities between her character, Samantha Wheeler, and Harvey. As you’ll see in the first couple of episodes, they go head to head. They’re truly adversarial, but they sometimes mirror each other in their actions and their manipulative ways to accomplish what they need. There’s something charming about that and exciting. We’ll see who’s the better the poker player, who can kick more people in the knees. With that said, Katie has expressed her fandom for the show and has loved the show for a little while. She’s been right in. She gets the rhythm of the speech. She is really, really free with the material — spontaneous. She’s just been nailing it. It’s been fun to play with her and I look forward to seeing where these characters are going to go and how much they’ll have to do with each other. I can tell you in the first two episodes, there’s been a lot [of interaction] and it’s been a lot of fun.
More of a geeky question for you: Michael Jordan, who’s been name-dropped for years. We’re still waiting on that cameo! What’s the status?
We shined him and then he bowed out. Apparently, he’s coming in episode 8×03, but people are telling me he might not make it onto the plane. I don’t know if it’s for real. (Pauses for a moment.) That’s all bulls**t. Don’t take my word for any of that. (Laughs.)
