Her Sunrise 🌄 Her Dawnbreaker
Ever since the very first time I read Still in Dark, the detail of Zayne being covered in scars from fighting wanderers/abominations has sat so heavy on my heart. Because you know that poor man hasn't been getting any professional medical help. Much like Xavier, he's just riding those injuries out, only unlike Xav, he's not blessed with a body that heals itself with relative ease.
This particular 'moment' is from a fic I'm still formatting in my head, that will hopefully see the light of day soon. His expression is a reflection of your own when you realize just how much he's been through. Our poor little meow meow 😩
My desire to bring this man into my arms and shield him from everything overwhelms me sometimes, and today I sat consumed with the desire to do just that, so instead of doing all my other obligations I did... this. Lol.

Can i request fluff alphabet with graves? I dont mind what letters you do x
Hey! I did the first eight letters of the alphabet!
Fluff Alphabet for Graves
A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?
If it was up to him, then he’d go grilling with you every day. Loves teaching you how to barbecue, telling you about how hot the grill should be, what its components are, how long the meat and sausages should be on the iron, that sort of stuff. Graves also loves inviting his Shadows to a barbecue as well. That way he gets to unwind with you and them and you get to know the people he works with. Those are the small celebrations he looks forward to the most.
B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?
On the one hand, he loves the fact that you’re independent and can go a long time without him. It’s necessary since he’s away a lot of the time. On the other hand, he does love how dependent you can be on him. Even just the small stuff gets to him, such as you having forgotten your wallet and wanting some ice cream, or you leaning into him for comfort when you’re watching a scary movie together. Yes, he loves you, but he also loves it when you need him. You’re his world, and he’s yours. He’s the big, strong man in your relationship and he’ll protect you from everything there may be.
C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
I feel as though he’d try to give you some unsolicited advice. You’re more than welcome to tell him to shut up, though. But other than that, he’ll try to crack some jokes here and there to get you to smile again. Also not above cuddling you and holding you close to make you feel protected and loved. Your panic attack wouldn’t be the first one he’s experienced, in all honesty. Sometimes, he helps with calming down his Shadows. Will calmly talk to you, play some games to help you get your mind off things as well. Will breathe with you too, if you’re okay with that.
D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?
If it was up to him, then you’d be living on a ranch together. He grew up on one in Texas and sometimes wants to go back to that life. Just you being surrounded by cattle, sheep, horses and other kinds of animals. You’d have a nice German shepherd together and would tend to the animals together. Of course, he wouldn’t give up his PMC either, but he can dream about that sort of future. He doesn’t think it would ever become reality anyway. However, as long as he gets to spend his future with you, he’s happy.
E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
He leans more towards being the dominant person in your relationship, but he can be passive at times as well. Usually has his hand on you somewhere as well as an act of dominance. Loves having you sit on his lap too, sometimes even in public when there are no chairs. People should know that you’re together and that he’s the one protecting you. He’s more than happy to consider your suggestions, but it’s usually him who decides where you end up going. Especially if you’re indecisive.
F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?
He’d be somewhat petty and resentful, but he wouldn’t let it out on you. He wouldn’t really let it out on anyone, he’s far too mature for that. However, you’d have to apologize to him for him to forgive you. As long as you’re being nice about it, he will. It’s rare for him to apologize unless he’s truly hurt you. When he was in the wrong about some fact he’ll usually ignore it. When he fights he gets a bit louder, his accent becomes a bit stronger, but that’s it. He won’t call you anything mean, but it will be known that he’s upset with you.
G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?
He’s pretty grateful. Not as much as other people, though. He doesn’t always consider everything you’re doing for him. Not that he takes it for granted either, far from it, but he just doesn’t always think when he doesn’t need to. However, generally speaking, he is grateful for what you do for him. Will show it by either taking you on a nice date to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go, or by taking care of your home in your stead for a while. You, too, deserve to have a day off from it all, after all.
H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?
There are plenty of things he doesn’t tell you. Sure, it may seem like he’s very open about his job, but you’ll always get the feeling he’s not being entirely honest with you. However, aside from job related things, he’s a very honest man. While he may sugarcoat some things for you sometimes, he will tell you pretty much everything. You can ask him about any personal detail and there’s a good chance he’ll tell you about it. In fact, I encourage you to do so, Graves enjoys talking about himself to you. Ask him about his plans for you and him and he’ll get quite sappy too and won’t stop talking for an hour.

thinking about the garrison getting the news of the Savoy massacre.
thinking about Treville reading the missive and feeling the earth dissolve into air under his feet, realising that by giving away the location he doomed his men to the slaughter.
thinking about him having to tell Athos and Porthos.
thinking about Athos going into shock because God, no, not again, he can't have lost his little brother again like he lost Thomas.
thinking about Porthos going into absolute rage- and grief-filled denial and insisting that they leave right now because Aramis is okay, he has to be, he can't have abandoned them, he can't have left them not like Porthos' mother did.
thinking about Athos trying to cope by slipping into professional soldier mode, detached, emotionless and trying to prepare Porthos for what they'll find.
thinking about them seeing the bodies and knowing their brother, their Aramis, is lying dead among the other corpses. And then they find him, and Porthos yells that he's alive and suddenly Athos is crumpling because Aramis is safe he's safe he didn't lose another brother. Treville scoops up Aramis in his arms and holds him tight for a moment, just one, because Aramis is his salvation too, his survivor, the only of his men who came back alive and thus not all is lost, and Treville vows never to let Aramis suffer again as he did that day.
thinking about Athos and Porthos holding Aramis between them, wrapping him and themselves in blankets to share their body heat and warm him. Aramis waking up and asking for Marsac but then realising Athos and Porthos are here and he breaks, crying and sobbing and begging them not to leave him in the cold all alone with the dead, too. And that is when the three of them vow, All for one and one for all, that it's either all three of them together or not at all. Nobody gets left behind.
thinking about Savoy and brotherhood and the boys just clinging to each other no matter what, because even when all seems lost, they're still the Inseparables, and that will always mean something.

ok its hard to explain but i need to spread the cuddlebug dottore agenda to someone who will understand and that is you
he is in absolute bliss when yall cuddle, will he admit it? Absolutely not. He loves it all the same though! Like, what do you mean you can be all warm, comfy, cozy, and also have the love of your life next to you? scientific discovery of the goddamn, Existence
He absolutely ADORES just, snuggling up with his lover, but it's rare you guys get to do so because "oh my experiments" "oh my fatui duties" "oh some other stupid reason i cant be vulnerable with my lover because im emotionally constipated"
it gets to the point where you have to initiate it. He's sitting down doing whatever fatui paperwork? sit on his lap! he's laying down reading whatever fuckass nerd textbook? lay on him!! become his weighted blanket!!! If you do this, he might instinctively snuggle or nuzzle closer to you, after wrapping an arm around you, but that's all you're getting, how could he.
Bonus points if you're strong enough to just start, climbing him in order to cling to him like a koala. Is it a comical sight? yes, will he be grumpy at you later for "embarrassing" and "distracting" him? probably
- 🎈 anon back in dottore hell, i show my love for him by calling him a stupid nerd 🙏
Dottore has thought the touch of another to be repulsive for the longest time, especially with his childhood and all, but you? Oh, you changed his mind so much. During the Akademiya, he uncharacteristically found himself wanting to go to sleep for once... because then he'd receive your cuddles. (Obviously, he fought against the urge. He is not so weak to give into temptation!) (He still gave in sometimes, through your soft caresses and kisses.)
Though there are times when he wants to be left alone, there are also times when he wants your attention on him. And what's the best way to hog your attention? Cuddling - you're forced to snuggle against him and share your warmth with him, your presence and giggles and all. Will he admit he likes these cuddle sessions? No, of course not.
There are actual health benefits to cuddling - the kind of science Dottore partakes in isn't exactly the regular kind but, just leave some research studies and papers on his desk for him to read... he won't admit it until there comes a situation where you're trying to escape from his grip and then he starts listing off all the benefits he's missing out on because you're being uncooperative...
Though he still is a very busy man and even though there are times he desires your attention, he can't really have it because he has other things to attend to and focus on. Though luckily as his lover for four hundred years you've learned to read him and figure out ways to help him without being a bother or distraction. You love gently massaging his shoulders as he works (he may not even feel you doing that) or curling yourself into his lap, stroking his arm soothingly to reduce stress, or the occasional kisses to his body. Sometimes he wraps a single arm around you to keep you steady as he does work with his other hand. You're sad about no attention, yes, but you love him, and you want to help him!
(Reader clinging to his leg and then grasping his upper body and now you're hanging off him with pleading eyes, just begging for a headpat (or two, or more, or all of his attention.)
Is he mad? Yes. Do you care? No. (He's not actually mad of course. Your brain really needs to be studied though...)

"I should've seen the signs" I feel like Stoick was basically reliving the way he lost Valka.
To him, after a lifetime of wanting nothing but to kill a dragon, Hiccup's suddenly and inexplicably changed his mind. To him, Hiccup saying he can't kill them is just like when Valka refused to and tried convincing others as well, then as a result was 'killed' by one herself.
To him, way Hiccup tossed his weapon and shield to the side then approached Hookfang while speaking about how dragons aren't what people think they are probably bares an uncomfortable resemblance to the way Valka put down her weapon and stared a dragon in the eyes and as a result was taken.
To him, attempting to do anything but preemptively defend yourself against a dragon will only end in tragedy, so he has to do anything he can to stop Hiccup before it's too late.
(And just like with Valka, he unintentionally escalated the situation by trying to protect Hiccup but only agitated the dragon, causing it to panic and react, inadvertently putting someone he loves in danger. again)
Stoick of course, wasn't acting rationally, but it makes sense when you think about how traumatizing Valka's 'death' must've been for him (and how much Hiccup reminss him of her); he watched her get taken, presumably killed, and couldn't do anything about it.
