I feel it is important to note that the number one rule for writing romances is this: If the characters have to kiss for one to know that they are in love, they are not in love.

Subsequently, in any well written romance, characters do not have to explicitly kiss their romantic interest or confess to their romantic interest for the reader to understand that they are in love. 90% of communication is not put into words. There are little details, little hints. The art of romance is in its subtle storytelling.

Magnus Chase Highschool Headcanons

Magnus, Mallory, and Samirah would be honor roll students.

Alex would be a theatre kid. Magnus would be too but he would work in set design.

Jack would be human and in the dance or choir team.

Blizten and Hearth would be in college

Sometimes Blitz and Hearth would pick up the gang from school. Or but then Starbucks when taking them to school

When Finals come around it’s Sam and Magnus who are running on 3 hours of sleep and are trucking through the day

Sam is the type of person to worry about failing despite never failing a test in her life

I feel Mallory would put a lot of effort into being on a football team.

Magnus is the one who suffers the most during P.E.

Mallory and Halfborn have been caught making out multiple times by staff

Alex and Magnus aren’t that big of PDA couple but people can still tell they like each other.

Group Study Sessions!!

T.J. Is a gamer and is probably the most interested in History and the Civil Rights Movement.

Halfborn and T.J get into fights because TJ keep beating Halfborn at games

They all would ditch the school dance halfway through

OKAY GUYS SO. *slaps on clown makeup* I think I know why Blitzstone was never made canon.

*begins pacing* we all know that blitzstone is a side ship, unlike fierrochase, so we never really got an in-depth look into this ship because it’s from magnus’s pov. Rick dedicated HoT to JRR Tolkien, who apparently introduced him to norse mythology. Therefore we can assume that he’s read lotr. Hearth annd Blitz are an elf and a dwarf who’re very close to each other. Who in lotr are an elf and a dwarf who’re also very close to each other? Legolas and Gimli, obviously. SO we can assume from here that Rick modelled Hearth and Blitz on them. It’s up for debate over whether gigolas was a thing, though it seems to be implied- KEEPING IN MIND our theory that Rick based Blitz and Hearth’s relationship on them, it follows that blitzstone was never made canon because gigolas was never made canon.

Blitzen almost dying during the battle against Fenris Wolf must have sent Hearthstone back to when Andiron was attacked and killed by the brunnmigi. Just... the parallels. The most important person in Hearthstone’s life being struck down by a beast. The only difference was that this time Hearth had the power to do something -- even if that something was sacrificing himself.

MCGA headcannons (fluff and angst)

SOME BITS OF HEAVY ANGST AHEAD. READ WITH CAUTION.

•Blitz and Hearth go to renfairs (am I spelling that right?)

• Blitz is always a knight but Hearth just stays an elf

• Hearth is Blitz’s model

• Magnus is overstimulated most of the time

• He’ll usually resort to taking off his shirt because it makes him feel trapped

• He does have some body dysmorphia but he’s trying his best :]

• Alex loves to mess with Magnus’ hair

• It’s her favorite

• Sometimes she does have flashbacks to her dad but she’s working through it

• Magnus calls Sam Samsung when he’s bored

• Somedays Magnus doesn’t fight in the morning battles cause he’s tired/upset

• Alex always notices and tries her best to help

• Alex hates peas

• And when the mashed potatoes are too mushy (me projecting)

• T.J.’s favorite game is Elder Scrolls: Blades.

• He’ll talk for hours, just flapping his hands.

• Magnus likes to chew on things

• Fierrochase is the biting each other couple

• They commit random crimes and then go to a different world so the cops can’t chase them

• Hearth makes flower crowns for him and Blitzen

• Magnus will eat ice all day until Sam stops him

• Sam and Magnus are best friends and I will die on this hill

• When Magnus needs a parent for something he’ll always use blitzstone

• Alex tries to go to art school

• Magnus ends up selling famous poetry

• Alex’s art become pretty well known

• Blitzen gets to design clothes for famous people over the years
