Round 1 - Side B
Tumblr media
Propaganda below ⬇️
Matt
Matt's faith in the show is really important and well explored; one of the first scenes of the show is Matt going to confession (or, well, talking to his priest since he's not really confessing at that point). Matt struggles a lot with what he's supposed to do; everyone's telling him to kill the villain and he kinda wants to, but he literally says: "I know my soul is damned if I take his life". He struggles with his faith and goes with his doubts to his priest, and it's beautiful—also when he finally gets a costume for his vigilanteing he chooses to dress as the devil, lol. (His priest tells him that nothing makes people run to Church faster than the feeling of having the devil on their heels.)
a lot of the show is about how he justifies his vigilante actions with his faith, and whether he's doing the right thing in trying to help people or just using it as an outlet for his anger. the literal first scene of the show has him in a confession booth talking to his priest (who is a really interesting character too). this is not the scene I was talking about but it's such an excellent scene with matt talking to his priest: https://youtu.be/XHZ3NbEIDdw
canonically catholic but dresses like a demon to be quirky
honestly i dont wanna type too much but i feel that matt is a great example of someone who battles with his faith because he rarely loses his faith but rather fights with why he was made the way he was and put through what he was. He believes himself to have the devil inside him but believes that God put him there
ok in the comics barring the most current run matt has Mostly been a non-practicing Catholic that very rarely actually does any catholic Activities but ends up falling back into the Mindset and very occasionally dramatically taking confession (ex. in that one issue where he takes confession, basically tells the father that he is uniquely terrible and is thinking about violently murdering someone and when the father says "you can be forgiven" hes like "AUGFH-- NO!!!!!!!!!!" and runs out) when he's gone through some shit. and i love that its so relatable
hello its me cct organizer. i have to come clean, i made this tournament because i need matt to win something. i dont think hell win the sadboy and he lost the ginger tournament and >:( hes my favoritest guy ever. Also @ who said he has religious trauma is wrong and i will fight u about it (nicely) on my main @usaigi
This guy so catholic he spends an ungodly amount of time just chilling in the church. And goes there whenever there is a moral conundrum about killing people being Bad even though it would solve a lot of problems and stop said people from killing other people. This happens every other episode. Matt is the Catholic Guilt Guy. There's actually a lot of catholic stuff in the show as a whole. Just a compilation would be like three whole episodes long.
Hes great hes catholic enough to not outrught murder people but not catholic enough to not fuck before marriage hes a bisexual disaster at all times hes besties with a priest might i add hes great hes my special little guy
his catholicism is a huge piece of his characterisation he was raised by nuns in a catholic orphanage, the first scene we ever see him (as an adult and not a flashback) is him going to confession, he is good friend with his priest and has regular debates with him, etc also in s3 he has a huge crisis of faith after he lost A Lot where he stops believing for a while and it's linked to his identity crisis where he actually wants to kill another person (a hard line he previously chose never to cross) and wants to be only daredevil and not matt murdock, when he is both and needs both to exist also when he was a kid his grandmother used to say "watch out for the murdock boys, they've got the devil in them" and it created a surprising lot of his issues
So he's both catholic in the comics and the show but he's More Catholic in the show. Like, raised in a catholic orphanage by nuns (ONE OF WHICH IS HIS *MOTHER*), second scene in the show has him in a confession box kind. Matt Murdock goes out and gets the shit beaten out of him nightly and also beats the shit out of other people and purposefully leaned into devil iconography as his theme. When his nurse friend says, he takes a lot of punishment without one complaint he says "That part's the Catholicism." It is a Core Aspect of his character (at least in the show). He makes me insane. Also the same chemicals that blinded him created the teenage mutant ninja turtles and everyone should know that.
They went to confession to a priest who they had saved as their costumed counterpart and the guy recognized them by the voice, proving that it's possible and everyone else is just dumb
he takes "i wanna fight god" to new and incredibly violent levels, while also being a sweetheart and a goofball
Actually strictly WILL NOT kill criminals. Goes wayyy out of his way to avoid it. Fights with the Punisher about it. Goes to confession booth after nightly vigilante excursions. Feels so much guilt. "How have you been holding up?" "Like a good Caltholic boy" "that bad huh" - actual conversation with his priest
So Daredevil struggles with his mission as a crime fighter because killing criminals goes against his faith. He makes it a point to not kill criminals, believing that even bad people deserve a second chance. This philosophy puts him at odds against The Punisher, who is a relentless killer. As a Catholic myself, while I love the concept of a morally conflicted superhero, I think the worldbuilding around Daredevil is lacking. If he struggles with violence and killing, why doesn't he pray to warrior saints like Saint Michael, Saint Ignatius of Loyola (a former knight), or Saint Joan of Arc? Why isn't there a community of other Catholics he can turn to for guidance, considering New York City has a sizeable population of Catholics? And why are the churches he goes to always empty? Doesn't he know that the Catholic Church supports the just war theory? I think that would have made his burden more bearable.
He goes to church and confesses to punching people and says "imma do it again can i apologize in advance" and the father dude says "no you're meant to stop now" and Matt says "no" and they do this everyday. I'm not remembering it properly but this is a canon interaction i swear
HELLO HI YES I LOVE HIM AND WILL INFOR DUMP ok so. he is a vigalantty and he got named daredevil and he is an orphan and after the age of 12 was raised in an orphanage at a Catholic church and his therapist is his priest via confession abd. also his mother is a nun he has a whole mental breakdown over god and called Job a pussy because he liked god until he got better and liked god again he said "I'm dearedrvil and not even god can stop that now" and he's so cool
matt is a freakish little babygirl who was raised by nuns and definitely has religious trauma. i hate him so much (affectionately)
he’s literally fucking insane about it i don’t know what to say here. he thinks he’s chosen by god to go on some sort of holy quest to save hell’s kitchen. joan of arc ass.
i already know hes in by default j just wanted to give him a personal shout out i love this angsty catholic dweeb
how practicing he is depends on the run, but in my favorite he is quite literally confessing to a member of the last extant order millitant who happens to be a priest at a church in hells kitchen.
i love him for having the funniest version of a trope i usually hate (person gets into confession booth and asks forgiveness not for what they've done, but for what they're about to do). usually this trope just looks silly to me bc like. the priest would just say "i can't do that" and you would have to either awkwardly explain yourself or just Leave. it's funny when matt does it because fr. lantom is probably like "what are you gonna do???" and matt's like "lol. lmao. 😊 hehehe." anyway we love this angry catholic man who dresses up like the devil to beat people up in hell's kitchen
Harrowhark
I'm pretty sure you've already got plenty of submissions for her so I'll just say she was raised in what is basically a cult (technically a nunnery but let's be real) dedicated to keeping the body of the thing that will kill God behind the rock. One of their prayers is actually "I pray the rock is never rolled away". Harrow is extremely devout as penance for her earlier heretical actions in the tomb as a child (spoiler!) so the Catholic guilt really comes through
imagine being a catholic nun and you meet god, but it turns out he’s a twitch streamer from new zealand who became god because everything got a little bit out of hand. and just before you met him you gave yourself a diy grief-fuelled lobotomy with the help of your best frenemy. imagine how insane you’d be. now multiply that insanity by nine. that’s the fictional love of my life right there.
she meets god. she’s not inspired
she’s number one practitioner of space Catholicism. The locked tomb is chock full of Christian (catholic) imagery themes metaphors etc. just look at her she’s got a bone rosary
They're Catholicism with extra bones. Everyone is a nun. They have what is basically a rosary made from knuckle bones. They technically worship the same God as everyone else, but they're waaaay more focused on The Body in the Tomb (Mary) and we get a moment where we find out that while everyone else prays the equivilent of The Lords Prayer, they're doing the equivilent of Hail Mary. And they paint their faces with skulls.
She thinks leaving dry bread in a drawer is taking care of someone. She's in love with a 10,000 year old corpse (the same one they worship). She spent ALL NIGHT digging with her bare hands to make sure a field had bones every 5 feet so she could fight her girlfriend - I mean, greatest enemy. Spoiler territory: She's been puppeting her parents corpses since she was 8 years old. Instead of grieving her dead girlfriend, she gives herself a lobotomy. She makes soup with bone in it so she can use the bone IN THEIR STOMACH to try and kill them.
The author is/was Catholic and the entire series had heavy Catholic overtones. https://www.tor.com/2020/08/19/gideon-the-ninth-young-pope-and-the-new-pope-are-building-a-queer-catholic-speculative-fiction-canon/ A good breakdown of how it's Catholic

Editing's going faster now. Here's chapter four of The Mystery Shack Takes Human Bill Cipher Prisoner. (Real title TBD.) Chapters one, two, and three.
####
In the middle of the night, Ford knocked on the attic door: "Eye check!"
Mabel and Dipper groaned.
"No complaining! This is for everyone's safety." Ford opened the attic door. "This will be the last one before Stanley and I take over guard duty, you can get some uninterrupted sleep then."
Mabel squinted up at Ford's flashlight with her blanket pulled up to her nose. Dipper groggily sat up as Ford inspected his eyes, but then he snatched the flashlight. "You too."
"Good thinking, Dipper. I know I'm me, but the rest of you shouldn't take my word for it." Ford crouched by the bed and let Dipper shine the flashlight in his eyes.
"Okay, clear." Dipper handed it back.
Mabel yawned. "What if Bill got colored contacts? We wouldn't be able to tell he's in someone's head, right?"
Ford froze halfway out the attic doorway. "Nobody go back to sleep! I need to do another eye check!"
The entire household groaned.
####
Once Soos reassured the Pines that Bill was "Still sleeping like a creepy, tied-up baby," he and Melody went to bed as Stan and Ford took over guard duty.
Usually, the cellar was one of the least interesting rooms in the shack. A water heater, a washing machine, storage for some old furniture and electronics. But when Stan and Ford opened the cellar doors, the first thing Ford's flashlight beam fell on was the body of Bill's puppet, face covered in a cloud of hair, curled up small on the bare mattress at the bottom of the stairs. The bright yellow and purple in the dull room was as shocking as a scream.
Ford quickly turned his flashlight off. He stood stock still on the top step.
Stan locked the doors behind them. "So, uh. Do you wanna just... stay up here?"
Ford nodded stiffly. "That seems wise. It keeps us between him and the only exit."
"Yeah. Smart thinking."
They sat on the stairs together.
Even with the flashlight off, Ford couldn't stop seeing the figure curled up below—invisible in the dark but nevertheless vividly, dreadfully imagined. It changed the room, transforming it into a tomb. The walls seemed to tilt in on the unconscious, unseen silhouette, forcing Ford and Stan toward the thing that wanted them dead.
After about fifteen minutes, Ford was on the verge of being driven insane by his own heartbeat pounding in his ears, when the cellar's silence was interrupted by a soft shuffling-creaking on the mattress below.
Ford elbowed Stan. Stan snorted and started awake. "Huh—what—?"
"Shh!"
There was more shuffling, then a groan. A high, fearful, feminine voice called out, "Wh... where am I? Am I tied up? What happened? What—"
Ford turned his flashlight on. The person on the mattress flinched, blinking heavily at the sudden light. "Hello? Wh-who are you? How did I get here, what do you want with me?"
"All right, calm down," Ford said brusquely. "Tell me, what do you remember?"
"I..." The person on the mattress frowned in concentration. "It's a blur. The last thing I remember is this... weird dream about a golden triangle?"
Ford exchanged a glance with Stan. "What did the triangle do?"
"I think he offered me some kind of bargain? After that, I'm not sure... I think I remember sleepwalking—"
"That was Hebrew," Ford said. "You speak fluent Hebrew?"
The person below blinked. "Jewish school?"
Stan snorted.
"Fine," Ford said. "Where are you from?"
"You mean, before all this? Arizona—I'm from Sedona—how far am I from home—?"
"And," Ford said, "that was Latin." Stan wheezed.
Open mouth. Shut mouth. Open. "I... majored in classical studies—"
"Give it up, Bill."
The expression of innocent fear melted away into a tired, almost bored look. "Ha. All right, I'm too tired to talk my way out of this one." Bill's voice sounded like him again. "It was worth a shot." He struggled in his restraints to roll over. "Turn off the light, would ya? My head's killing me."
"Leave it on," Stan said.
Without looking at them, Bill said, "I can make my voice very annoying."
Stan said, "Leave it on, and I'll get a sock and duct tape."
Ford turned off the flashlight.
When Bill had been unconscious, he'd been a vague, undefined threat. The dark seemed different now. Less frightening. Knowing Bill was awake made it easier to remember what he was:
A pest. A nuisance. A pain in the keister.
Stan quietly pantomimed chucking something at Bill's head, then muttered under his breath, "I don't know why he's tired. He's almost got a full night's sleep."
"I don't know if he's ever controlled a human body for this long," Ford said. "Much less been magically trapped in one by a unicorn belt. Maybe prolonged psychic puppetry drains his energy—"
"Or maybe he's a wimp," Stan cut in. "That's what I was going for, I'm suggesting he's a wimp."
Ford snorted quietly. "Or he's a wimp."
There was no sound from below. Either Bill had already fallen back asleep, or he was doing a darn good job of pretending he had. For a moment, Stan and Ford remained silent, listening.
Then Ford stood, unlocked the door, and quietly left.
####
There was a clatter at the attic window. Dipper and Mabel both immediately bolted upright, fully alert—they'd never quite gotten back to sleep—and exchanged a terrified look.
There was a second sharp tap. They scrambled out of bed, peered out the window—and then flung it open. "Wendy!"
Wendy froze in the middle of winding up to throw another stone. "Hey! Dipper, Mabel! I couldn't sleep, I was worried about you guys. Is your secret weird paranormal thing over?"
Dipper and Mabel leaned out of the window. They were wearing pajamas and matching tin foil hats.
Wendy stared at them. "I'm... taking that as a no." She bit her lip to keep from laughing. "You guys look exhausted."
Mabel groaned. "It's been keeping us up all night. It's impossible to lay down with tin foil on your head?"
"And we've been getting checked on every couple hours," Dipper said.
"Plus it might not be safe to sleep!"
"And—" Dipper grimaced. "And we can't even talk about it until it's over..."
"Okay, yeah, got it," Wendy said. "Secret family business, it's cool. Just—reassure me that you guys are safe? I don't want you to get eaten by a T-Rex-nado or something before we get to hang this summer."
Were they safe? They exchanged a look. Mabel tilted her head and shrugged uncertainly. Dipper said, "The threat... is... securely contained."
That time, Wendy did burst out laughing. "Okay! I'll accept that. I already told Soos, but—call me if you need backup, all right?"
Mabel stuck a thumbs up out the window. "You got it!"
"Thanks, Wendy."
"I'll see you in the morning if the Mystery Shack's open," Wendy said. "If not... I dunno, my day'll be free, maybe we can do something? If you don't have to deal with the contained threat."
"Yeah, that sounds great," Mabel said. "I'm gonna see Grenda and Candy sometime tomorrow, buuut I don't think Dipperhas anything planned—"
Dipper kicked her ankle. She kicked his back, grinning.
"Awesome. See you tomorrow, then."
When Wendy had biked away, Dipper said, "You're not gonna spend all summer teasing me about last summer's crush, are you?"
"Nooo, I'm not, I promise! But I had to get one in." Mabel laughed and flopped heavily on her bed. The old mattress springs wheezed. "Besides! I know your heart belongs to that girl at the judo club who likes you."
"Mabel, I don't—" Dipper paused. "Do you really think Kelsey likes me?"
Mabel laughed. "Good night, Dipper."
Dipper shut the window. They both got back in bed, slid under their covers, and stared at the ceiling. And stared at the ceiling. And stared at the ceiling.
"Pssst. Dipper."
"What is it?"
"I can't sleep. Can you?"
A heavy sigh. "No." Voice low, as if afraid they could be heard all the way from the cellar, Dipper said, "I just keep wondering—did we really trap him in that tourist before he escaped? Or did we lose as soon as he fainted?"
Mabel kicked off her covers, sat up, and turned to face Dipper, hugging her knees. "Actually, I think we did trap him. I... kinda think Bill can't escape?"
Dipper sat up as well. "What do you mean?"
"You remember how I wrestled him when he was you?" Mabel asked. "Your body was really, really cold. Like, dead-cold. But when I was drawing on Bill's face, his skin felt..."
"... Normal." Dipper had spent six hours tackling Bill. When he'd been trying grip Bill's arms and ankles so he couldn't flail free, Dipper hadn't noticed anything unusual about Bill's body—but that was unusual, wasn't it?
"Yeah. Normal. What if he's not controlling somebody? What if he, I dunno, turned himself human to avoid getting killed? Like a unicorn."
"Unicorns don't do that."
"They can if a wizard helps! That's not the point. The point is..." Mabel struggled to put her mountain of emotions into words, and finally, simply finished, "... what if he's just a human now?"
They both had to sit with the suggestion, waiting to see if it filled them with relief or dread. A human was less powerful than whatever Bill had been; but in some way, the human body shielded Bill, too, making it impossible to properly confront and defeat him.
"What if his human body is like a Trojan horse?" Dipper asked. "And this was all a big trick, and he's just—waiting inside it? For one of the remaining micro-rifts to the Nightmare Realm to widen, or—or the perfect moment to return to his real body?"
Mabel hugged her knees a little tighter. "But if he could leave the body any time he wants, do you think he'd be patient enough to just wait?"
"He was patient enough to wait billions of years to get into our universe."
"I don't think that counts. He wasn't biding his time, he was stuck. He would've gotten here sooner if he could have."
"Then... I don't know."
That was just it. They didn't know.
They didn't want to talk about the dread pooling in their stomachs and creeping up the backs of their necks. They didn't want to talk about their anger—the injustice that he was back, that this wasn't over, that another summer was going to be overshadowed by him.
But if they weren't talking about that, what else could they talk about? It was all they could think about. For a moment, they just sat together in silence.
Which was when they heard Ford yelp in alarm.
####
Soos had answered the knock on his bedroom door holding a baseball bat.
Ford drew back, hands raised. "Soos, it's me! What's this for?"
"Sorry. It's been a crazy night. I keep having dreams about the Roman Senate assassinating Bill? Like, Julius Caesar, except he's a triangle?" Soos put the bat down. "Anyway, what's up? Is it time for another eye check?"
"Yes, but that's not the main reason I'm here."
Still in bed, Melody groaned, "Are all these really necessary?"
Soos had to use his fingers to hold his eyes open for Ford's flashlight. "'Fraid so. Bill's really good at taking over people. He's got Dipper, he's got Ford... One time he got me! That doesn't really count though, it was in a dream. Kinda."
"All right, you're clean." Ford looked at Melody, decided that since he'd had confirmation that Bill was still in the body in the cellar it might be a little too rude to examine a half-asleep young woman in bed, and offered the flashlight to Soos so he could check his fiancée instead. "What I really came up here to say is that Bill woke up. Now we know he's still in that body."
("Melody, have I told you lately that you have really pretty eyes?" "Awww, Soos.")
Ford cleared his throat. "Stan's 'friends' are waiting. Time to gag him and go."
Soos's expression hardened. (It wasn't terribly intimidating.) "I'll get the sock and duct tape."
Melody rubbed the spots from her eyes. "Are you up for this? You've got a long drive, and you've been up all night looking at everybody's eyes."
"Bill's given me worse sleep deprivation than this," Ford said wryly. "I'll be fine."
"You're sure? If you need someone to help drive..."
"Melody, you're an angel for helping as much as you have. Especially when none of this is your problem yet." Even though she occasionally spent the night with Soos, she wouldn't be moving into the shack until after the wedding and honeymoon, which they'd scheduled for after the summer tourist rush. "And I know you have reservations about—how we're handling this."
Melody shrugged ruefully. "I mean—I don't like that you've got the demon triangle in your cellar, but Soos says you're some kind of insane space wizard and an expert on this stuff, so..." In the dim light, she flashed Ford a strained smile. "Just—I guess—tell me if there's anything else I can do to help prevent the apocalypse."
Insane space wizard. Ford hoped that was a compliment. "Just hold down the fort while we're moving Bill. Thank you."
####
Dipper and Mabel pulled their ears away from the attic door. Dipper whispered, "Anything could go wrong while they're moving Bill. Do you think we should...?"
"Pfff!" Mabel rolled her eyes. "C'mon bro, is that even a question?"
Dipper smiled wanly.
Wordlessly, they put on their backpacks—already packed—and pulled sweaters on over their pajamas, and tiptoed downstairs with their shoes in their hands.
####
Ford inspected Stan's eyes again before he said, "Soos will be down in a minute."
Stan blinked the lights out of his eyes. "You'd better not keep doing that while I'm driving." He shut the door so that if Bill woke back up, he couldn't listen in on their plans to relocate him.
"You're not going to be driving. I am."
"Come on! It's my car!"
"It's night, you have cataracts, and you already fell asleep during guard duty."
"I wasn't asleep, I was resting my eyes!"
"In the dark?" Ford asked. "Would you prefer Soos or me?"
Stan grumbled and crossed his arms, but decided he wasn't going to win this fight. He nudged Ford and changed the topic. "Now, that Latin was all Greek to me—but is it just me, or is his Hebrew better than yours?"
He was saying it to be annoying. Ford knew he was trying to be annoying. It worked. Ford was annoyed. "Well—of course he's better. He's probably been speaking it three thousand years. And his accent's probably just as old."
"Ah, excuses. Bet his Latin's better, too."
He was doing it on purpose. He was doing it on purpose. "You wouldn't know Latin from Latvian!"
"This isn't about me." Stan gave Ford his most annoying shit-eating grin. "Hey—when did you pick up Latin, anyway?"
At least he wasn't teasing anymore. "I needed to complete an undergrad foreign language requirement."
"You just couldn't go for something useful that living people speak, huh?"
"On the contrary, Latin's been enormously useful in my study of weirdness. It's very popular with sorcerers and occultists alike," Ford said. "And it got us out of that bar brawl in Atlantis, didn't it?"
"That gobbledygook was Latin? I thought it was some kind of mermaid language. Or Italian," Stan said. "Well, whaddaya know? Good job going to the only college in the world teaching Conversational Latin, I guess."
Ford grimaced. "Actually... I just learned to read and write Latin at Backupsmore. The only reason I can speak it... is Bill."
An uncomfortable silence settled over them, the way it always did when Stan asked where'd you pick up—? or how'd you learn about—? and Ford had to say Bill. It was an answer that demanded more questions that Stan didn't really want to ask and Ford didn't really want to answer. Usually, when Ford said Bill, Stan changed the topic.
But burying the topic was harder when Bill was less than twenty feet away. Stan shifted his weight from one foot to the other, his gaze on the weeds sprouting in the shack's parking lot. "You've said he used to be your friend. You didn't mean like when you call a guy a 'friend' because you don't hate running into him twice a year at the grocery store. Did you?"
Ford got the impression that Stan wanted to believe Bill had just been a cordial acquaintance. Ford wished. He shook his head.
Stan clicked his tongue. "You know, I never got the impression you were 'friends' when I was reading your journals. He just seemed like another of your random... demon-fairy acquaintances."
"I ripped out the other pages about him."
"There were more?"
Ford's head burned with shame. He'd waxed poetic—called him divine, blessed, a miracle, a muse—been inspired to draw sunrises and constellations because a mere drawing of an eye in a triangle couldn't convey the all-encompassing awe Ford's muse filled him with—and all that for what? A two-dimensional two-bit con artist who'd been slumming it in the lawless no man's land between civilized dimensions, now chained up on a dingy mattress in Ford's cellar.
Stan had a right to know—but it was hard to admit just how enraptured Ford had been by an interdimensional grifter. Hard to admit nothing else had enraptured him so much since. Nothing sparkled quite like fool's gold. "We can talk once he's gone."
Stan paused. "Yeah. That's probably better."
####
Apparently Bill really had fallen asleep again that fast, because he didn't stir as the Pines and Soos gagged him and carried him into the back of Stan's car. Soos sat in the back with his baseball bat and Bill, and Ford and Stan silently envied him for not having to turn his back on Bill. The car pulled away from the Mystery Shack with its headlights off.
Moments later, Dipper and Mabel followed on bikes.

Details I noticed on my second and third rewatches of Werewolf By Night
Jack reached out to touch the bloodstone as soon as he got to the funeral. If he hadn't been interrupted, he would've blown his cover immediately and been killed, let alone doing anything to save Ted. He's such an idiot (affectionate)
When he's talking with that Scottish hunter in the beginning, he says, “I can almost smell the blood on your hands.” Foreshadowing much?
What happened to Elsa’s mom? They imply it's something 'terrible'/dishonorable but they never say
When they're all being introduced in the circle and listing how many kills they have, when it comes to Jack the line is “And over 100 deaths. Give it take.” I thought it was interesting how they suddenly used deaths vs kills (especially because Jack probably told them that. Let the angst begin lol)
It says "This end up on coffin" lol
Jack chews on his lip during Ulysses’ speech about the strongest hunters gathering and the crusade against monsters. It's so very subtle but you can see he's nervous
Jack looks scared and concerned when they get told the stone would be put on the monster. It's a split second but his eyes get wide and he goes :o
The set is actually amazing, especially the garden maze
In the tomb Jack gets the most brilliant smile when he says he's "not that kind of hunter" and Elsa says she’s not either. He probably thought she was secretly some kind of monster too for a second because his face literally looks like when a dog sees another dog or when a queer person sees another queer person in public. Like "Hello!! You're like me?? Like me??? Hello! Hi!!"
When talking with Elsa about families, Jack says, “My family was very different.” Why does he say "was???" What happened to his family??? (Another opportunity for angst lol)
In that same conversation, Jack also says, “We think that by doing something specific we cannot be like them.” Why does he want to be different than his family? What specific thing did he do? I need more backstory!!
All the bugs and spiders crawling out of Aunt Frances' tomb was a very nice touch lol
Laura Donnelly's (Elsa’s) acting. She's trembling. She genuinely looks terrified but like she’s making herself be brave anyway. The single tear that rolls down her cheek right before he turns and how she just nods at his apology because she can't trust herself to speak? The way she's made herself as small as possible and is partly covering her head in fear but can't look away as they shoot him? The way her breath keeps hitching because she has no idea if she's going to die or not as she reaches out to touch his face at the end? It's so much more genuine and realistic than other MCU acting I feel. Like ofc the other actors in other projects are talented but I don't feel like they get scared often or get scared in a realistic way. Like if I was trapped in a cage with an angry werewolf, I also would be curled up on the floor crying. 10000/10
Before he turns, Jack says he has “systems” in place to stop himself from turning or at least calm it down. Besides locking himself inside, what are his systems?? I want to know!!!
When Elsa asks if remembering people's scents have ever worked before, Jack immediately shakes his head. Almost as an afterthought, he says “Once.” Who was it??? Why is he still so sad if it worked?? Did they die immediately anyway for some other reason??? Did he not recognize their scent until it was too late??? I NEED BACKSTORY! (and more angst)
When Jack asks to be killed as he is "or there will be no mercy," the old lady, who's name I can't remember, says, “Our system is built on mercy for you.” She genuinely seems to believe it for a second before bursting out laughing and going back to being evil. The story is told from the perspective of those against the hunters, but I want to know what the thought process/justification of the hunters is! Ofc they're doing it to protect innocent people from dying (like they mention) and there is certainly an element of personal gain/ego in it but how do they believe they're having mercy on the monsters themselves? What's the ideology behind it all?
In werewolf form, Jack's eyes glow in the dark but when you get up close, they look like human eyes
The blood on the camera. Such a cool touch
A list of things Ted had at their camp: Two suitcases (one with clothes in it), a sunflower mug, a deck of cards, a cowbell (why is there a cowbell??? lol), a gramophone, a guitar, just the phone part of a phone booth (again, what???), a blanket, and a fire extinguisher
Jack uses both hands to hold the sunflower mug because he's so shaky and tired, he would drop it otherwise
The groans Jack makes as he stands up lol That is also how I sound when I stand up
Jack and Ted's banter on the log. It doesn't matter if you don't know what they're saying, you can instantly tell they're best friends. The way they're laughing and pushing each other and how quickly it switches into annoyance. ...Which only lasts a couple seconds before they're chummy again. True friend conversation
Ted's eyes are really cute in color. His pupils are little star/flower shapes

Hihi hi!!!! So I think I should make an intro post for myself even though I’ve had this account for a while- specifically I’m gonna cover my stance on nsfw asks and messages because I’ve started getting more varying asks!
Hello! My name is Frost, I go by she/they pronouns. As you may see I’m an artist and I enjoy sharing my art!! I’m an enjoyer of multiple fandoms! Prominently: The Locked Tomb, Mortal Kombat, Star Wars, and a few more! I love talking and interacting with people who enjoy the same things I do ! Feel free to slide into my ask box or dms whenever :)
About using my art:
For phone backgrounds: no credit needed! Have fun (please show me it would make me so happy to see) and go wild- if you’re gonna edit it and put filters and such over it that’s fine!!
For pfps/banners/profiles: fine by me! Please credit me somewhere though!
For edits (musical, video edits or such): if you do this I’ll kiss you. Credit me please still and TAG ME TAG ME I WANNA SEE WHAT YOU MAKE
For edits (editing my art): erm, so long as you don’t draw over like any existing features or whitewash or do weird shit you’re fine. Doodle over them, color my sketches (once again, tag me if you do I’ll cry happy tears) put filters on them make memes- if you reshare my art in any way credit me please!!
Reposting: I’m ok with reposting as long as you credit me!!!
Using: it should be obvious but don’t make any profit off my art. It’s mine, not yours to sell.
That’s all for that!!
Stance for nsfw content is under the cut so I don’t make this too long :)
So recently I’ve gotten some NSFW stuff in my asks which while it’s ok since I’m an adult I just wanna clear things up.
1: do not share your personal experiences with me. I am a stranger online. I don’t know you. Stay safe!!!!! I don’t want to see that stuff, I don’t want to know about your wet dreams!!!
2: if you come into my DMs with nsfw hcs or talking about NSFW content prepare to be blocked. Once again. I’m a stranger. I don’t know you. If we have had conversations and they’ve lead that way it’s ok, but please. Don’t go right off the bat into that.
3: asks. This one is iffy. I’m not a NSFW account but I’m not strictly SFW, I’ll repost suggestive things, I’ll draw suggestive art, but not full on porn. (If you want that you have to go to twitter. Where I don’t post anymore. Or become a close friend on discord.) please don’t send me NSFW asks talking about characters, ships, or any hcs or art. I’m aware I have a large following of varying ages and I want to keep my account safe.
4: regarding if I DO end up posting or reblogging any sort of NSFW content, I will tag it! So filter that out!! If I am posting suggestive art I will label it as such accordingly. If it is NSFW I will put it under a cut with warnings and tags.
I am not mad or upset at any people who asked things with NSFW content- I get it! But please if you want to talk about it so badly with me just DM me- and ask first.
Thank you!!

Ebenezer and Jen Fanfiction
Even when Ebenezer Scrooge was quite the miser, I always thought that he'd have a soft spot for his little sister, Jen. As such, the man never allowed a Christmas to go by without visiting her. And this is just a cute little story about one of those visits.
______________________________________________________________
Ebenezer and Isabel were walking arm and arm through the little village.
Their Christmas had been full of merriment - dining with the Cratchits, visiting Harry and Hela to see their newborn child, and merely just walking about wishing all they passed by a Merry Christmas. While Isabel would never admit it, it was so heartwarming to see her beloved allow the joyous holiday into his heart.
"I hope you don't mind if we make one more stop before we return home."
Isabel looked up at him and smiled. Truly, she couldn't fathom what else Ebenezer wanted to do today, but she was all for it. "Not at all."
* * *
Isabel remained a few paces away and watched the scene before her.
She understood completely - the moment they walked through the front gates, she knew what he wanted to do…and she was happy to see him do it. If anything, she knew it was very therapeutic for him.
Before her stood Ebenezer, standing at his little sister's grave. According to her love, he had been accomplishing this tradition ever since his sister's death - even when he had been quite the miser. Jen had been the light in his life, and never would he allow such a flame to extinguish. As such, since the day of her death, he had made visiting her on Christmas an un-skippable ritual.
Isabel had no idea that he had kept this custom alive and well. The last she had seen of him here, had been the day of Jen's funeral.
Many family and friends had been present for the mourning, and most departed from the grave in a respectable time frame…but, not Ebenezer. He had remained in front of his sister's tomb long after the eulogy had completed.
The man had admitted, that not long after everyone had left, (including herself), he had fallen to his knees, wrapped his arms tightly about Jen's tombstone, and sobbed.
She didn't know if such an act would happen again...but, she wouldn't fail to be there for him this time, if it did.
* * *
Ebenezer placed some flowers on the grave. "Hello, Jen. I apologize for my tardiness today." He chuckled, "I was making rather merry with Isabel, and many friends." He smiled, "How I wish you could be here, to share these times with us." His smile wavered. "How I wish, you could've been with me for the past many years." He frowned, "I know my life wouldn't have been the way it had been, had you still been here. You always had my best interest at heart."
He stopped talking for a moment, almost as if giving Jen a chance to respond.
He smiled, "I don't know if I ever told you this, but Harry looks very like you." He frowned, "I suppose that's why for many years, I chose to hide away from him. He reminded me of you, and it was painful." He shook his head to snap him out of the depressing thought.
"Oh! Do you know that you're a grandmother, now?" He chuckled, "I can't picture you with graying hair." He touched his own locks. "Don't want to end up looking like me, do you?" He smiled brightly. "Believe it or not, Harry's little one was born on Christmas, so they share a birthday." His smile faltered again. "Which means they also share the date of your-" he stopped. Even while standing at her grave, he didn't want to mention death to her. "Well, they share said date with you, as well." He cleared his throat. "But, I'm sure said information would bring you the greatest joy, hmm?"
Ebenezer looked toward Isabel, smiled, then returned his attention to Jen's resting place. "Isabel and I were married last Christmas. Can you believe that your elder brother was able to reconnect with his true love, and find himself married? I'm sure you could." His smile became more warm. "You were the one to introduce me to Isabel in the first place…remember? You and she had become good friends, and you being quite devilish, decided to play matchmaker." He chuckled, "I must admit, you did well in that regard."
He opened his coat, and brought forth the Father Christmas doll that she had made him. "I had given this to your son a few Christmases ago, but he returned it to me on my wedding day. He wanted to assure me that you were there." His eyes became a bit glossy. "And, I know you were there with me, Jen." A few tears started to fall from his eyes - which he quickly wiped away. "I merely wish that you were truly here with me."
He once again fell silent for a moment. He shouldn't be rude and continuously speak, as his younger sister may have needed to voice her thoughts as well. (A foolish thought, he knew…but, one that he would never think otherwise about).
"I love you, Jen." Tears were once again on the verge of falling from his eyes - to which he attempted to stop them, by wiping them away prematurely. "I shall endeavor to stop by more so, than just on Christmas from now on…but, you know that I will always come to visit you on said day."
He leaned forward, and placed a kiss on her headstone. "Goodbye for now, Jen."
He gave the stone a few pats, turned away from it, and returned to Isabel's side. He wiped his eyes one last time, (tearfully) looked at his wife, and smiled. "Well, shall we return home for the evening?"
Isabel merely smiled at him. It was so touching to see him in such a state - full of emotions and love. At one point, she would have never thought him capable of feeling such wonderful sentiments…but, it seemed even from beyond the grave, his sister had been helping him. Truly, if anyone should be given credit for his redemption, it should be Jen.
She nodded, but asked, "You did give Jen my love, yes?"
Ebenezer nodded. He then offered his beloved his arm, and the duo left the peaceful scene.

you guys i’m starting to think magic story might not be that good
I’m really really happy the Phyrexia essay found its intended audience, and i’m glad it resonated so deeply with so many of you! People have asked me if they can quote it or lift concepts from it, and the answer is yes, absolutely! Please attribute it to me if you do, and if you want to send me whatever you’re using it in I would love to read it, though that’s optional. That’s the first thing.
The second thing is, man, was March of the Machine story a wet dud or what? I try to set my expectations low with official WotC stuff, but I did not have them set anywhere near low enough. Consequently, it’s been difficult to muster the energy lately to do things on this blog because, like, jeez, what an unceremonious and largely consequence-free waste of potential all of that was (except for the Ixalan story. The Ixalan story had everything: amazing kaiju fights [sorry Ikoria] and Magic’s best lesbian couple [sorry Gruulfriends, also congrats Gruulfriends.] “But what about the Ravnica story?” you, an incorrect person, say, “I thought the Ravnica story was really good,” you continue, incorrectly. The Ravnica story was very bad! It had really good ideas in it, but it was exceedingly-poorly written. My most charitable interpretation is that there was a miscommunication, and the author expected there would be a thorough editorial pass, and instead they just published it as-is. Sad! I would have really enjoyed a well-written version of that story. </hater>) But also it’s been difficult to muster enthusiasm to do Magic stuff lately because of WotC’s extracurriculars (increasingly-predatory attempts to more thoroughly monetize D&D, the fucking thing with the fucking Pinkertons.) But today I took an Adderall because it’s one of the rare days I actually have to focus on a task at work, and I’m using the residual focus to post an overdue update here, hello!
And I’m not done with this blog! Far from it. I’m going to keep posting dumb horny card art reviews here, for sure, but here’s some other stuff you can expect to see in the next few months or so:
1. a follow-up to the Phyrexia essay digging into the question of what a “fascist aesthetic” is, what it’s for in fiction, what it means to enjoy things that contain those elements. I think this is a really interesting topic with a lot of depth and hopefully nuance to it, and I really only skirted it in the original essay, and oh man did people have things to say about that (most of them polite). I addressed a similar topic previously on this blog when I talked about the conquistador vampires in Ixalan, but I don’t think I’m satisfied with that post. I think we can also talk about how we engage with a text, and how we engage with a text like Magic: the Gathering specifically. This is a lot to cover, and it may end up getting trimmed down, or I may succumb entirely to the seduction of scope creep. Who can say!
2. an essay on chivalry in its historical contexts, how it’s been used, what purposes it serves in a society (its role, for instance, in sustaining white supremacy in America), and what it means when we encounter it in “sword lesbian” media (the Locked Tomb books, Revolutionary Girl Utena, etc.) This is going to require a great deal of research and I have no idea what my ultimate conclusion will be, but it’s a topic I’m personally very invested in for a whole host of reasons.
3, maybe. I’ve been toying with the idea of writing MtG fic for a while, because they keep wasting potential and I think I could do a better job. If I do, I’ll post it here, but no promises. Fiction isn’t my main genre, and fanfic isn’t something I’ve gotten seriously into before, despite being on tumblr since 2011. But someone needs to do Avacyn justice, so we’ll see.
4. other writing. I’m a lightly-published poet in real life, and I’m currently working on my first chapbook, so maybe I’ll try putting some of it on tumblr, and since this blog’s readership has surpassed my personal, I guess? I’d put it here? Or, possibly, the short horror stories I infrequently write. Again, we’ll see.
5. Obviously I’m going to keep doing the horny Magic card art reviews. I’m not feeling the new stuff right now, but there’s a lot of older sets I haven’t done yet. The Tarkir block is next - and in fact, I think that will be the next post on this blog. I think it’s time we started appreciating Monastery Swiftspear for more than her brutal efficiency in aggro decks, because frankly she’s a snack and this should be acknowledged.
Anyway, thank you all for reading, hit me up if you wanna play some Commander, and I’ll see y’all in the next one!

Hello, saw some of your anti c//a that mention how you think c//a is a bad enemies-to-lovers ship while griddlehark is a good one, and may i ask how that is? Genuine question, because i don’t like c//a, and i’m neutral on griddlehark (mainly because I don’t know much atm), from what i’ve seen/heard, it seems like it’s a lot more toxic of a dynamic than c//a is initially/pre canon? Again not trying to bait, am gen curious /genuine
This is going to be kind of disjointed, and I apologise, but this is kind of a topic that defies a simple summary.
Bear in mind that ahead be big Locked Tomb spoilers and the SP0P spoilers that basically everyone already knows.
I would say that the two critical differences are 1) the handling of the toxicity within the narrative, and 2) the structure and arrangement of the toxicity.
You are absolutely correct that pre-canon Griddlehark's mutual hatred is a toxic dynamic. They initially detest each other with a passion; one of the main plot points driving the entire series is a young Harrow having Gideon's blood under her nails after a fight.
As Gideon and Harrowhark work together, however - and here is the point where 100% of bad enemies-to-lovers arcs crash and burn - the toxicity goes down. It never becomes totally healthy - indeed, post-GtN Harrow invents an entirely new way to have an unhealthy relationship, involving performing brain surgery on herself at 17 - but the majority of the narrative is spent showing them moving from "would piss on the other's grave given the chance" to a mutually tolerated working relationship, to a growing loyalty, to the pool scene where Harrow shows Gideon more honesty and trust than she's had from anyone in her life. A lot of what makes this work is pacing and structure; every new step works because it's building on the previous ones, none of them feeling jarringly fast or unmotivated.
More than that, a big help is that the toxicity feels intentional. The relationship being Kinda Fucked is a 100% intentional thing that I'm pretty sure I've seen Tamsyn Muir talking about in interviews. It's a narrative element that Muir is monitoring and adjusting with the care of a good zookeeper trying to keep the humidity in the reptile enclosure exactly right.
(I genuinely cannot praise the writing in these books enough.)
Turning to SP0P as a contrast, its relationship has a more understated toxicity, but a much more pervasive one. Young Adora and C*tra weren't clawing at each other's faces whenever left unsupervised, but young C*tra sure did claw at Adora's face for wanting to have more than one friend! It's not the PVP arena of Growing Up Griddlehark, but "you are my friend, therefore your needs are subordinate to mine" is still far from a healthy dynamic, and the narrative never addresses it.
The bigger problem, though, is that the toxicity doesn't so much "go down" as trace out a parabola. The entire first half of the narrative shows the toxicity going up sharply, to the point of C*tra being willing to die just to make Adora miserable, then it hovers there for another quarter, and then it returns to an earlier level of toxicity. S5 C*tra's treatment of Adora stays awful. She spends "Taking Control" throwing a tantrum over how the real problem is Adora and the others being mad at her; she portrays herself as the wounded party in her like four separate murder attempts on Adora in "An Ill Wind" to produce the worst line of the show; she continues throwing tantrums whenever she doesn't get what she wants and making everything about herself right up to the love confession, including that confession ("stay with me, the person who spent four seasons refusing to stay with you!"). It feels bizarre that Adora goes from "even if you're my best friend, I won't let you blame me for shit that isn't my fault" in S4 to doing nothing but looking sad when C*tra portrays her as being in the wrong for not just meekly standing by while C*tra burned down her home and murdered her friends.
And - and I'll acknowledge that a big part of this is probably executive fuckery, I just don't think that really matters - the pacing and structure absolutely are not helping. I could buy S5's sudden reversal if C*tra and Adora had had a fun, weightless enmity where there was an obvious respect between them. They don't. C*tra spends a truly distressing amount of time utterly consumed by the desire to cause Adora as much pain as possible, to the point of attempting a murder-suicide on the entire world. No point in S2-S4 shows a C*tra who Can't Bring Herself to Really Hurt Adora, regardless of the things the stans have convinced themselves they saw; she's so totally driven by spite that she tears her own life to shreds in the hope Adora will be caught up in the edges. The relationship has to do a sudden R*ylo swerve rather than building on what's gone before because "what's gone before" is like three plot points in the first season that have been narratively overwhelmed by C*tra's multiseason campaign of cruelty like a single pea being weighed against the USS Nimitz.
This is where intentionality comes into play. The toxicity in c/a is just there. For all the bullshit about C*tra's story being about what happens when you're the toxic friend, it doesn't feel like an intentional narrative element that is seriously being examined; it feels like a writing fuck-up where C*tra was supposed to feel like way less of a stalker asshole.
Anyway, I hope this has made some vague semblance of sense, but I've been at this for like an hour and I'm tired and I need to go check on a craft project.

The Lights Analysis vs. The Papa Script - (No Actual Lighting Discussion)
Okay, time to cross-reference/analyze my analysis with the Papa Script.
Tumblr media
First up here: Robin Buckley.
Originally, I wanted to look at her saying, “It’s not everyday you loose your home and vehicle in one fell swoop,” because that has foreshadowing of Will and Mike in the van scene. Will breaks both their hearts in one fell swoop. However, I didn’t even make it to that point (these scripts also aren’t mine, but I’m sorry if this is yours because I can’t remember where I took it from)-
Because my brain stopped on this;
“ARMS CROSSED; a gesture of defensiveness: an instinctive act in nearly every single person facing something unknown. Her ANXIETY is obvious.”
and then I went- hey, that reminds me of something-
Tumblr media
Oh, hello Mike and Will at Suzie’s house, how’re you doing? Feeling uncomfortable, ANXIOUS, perhaps?
Tumblr media
I went over this it in this analysis, but Mike and Will both are tense at Suzie’s house. And this line with Robin helps to establish the fact/idea that they are in fact defensive and anxious.
And now onto the most correct I’ve ever been in my entire life (except when I correctly guessed, after reading Gideon the Ninth, that- just realized that that’s a major spoiler so, uh. Go read the locked tomb series if you like the idea of “lesbian necromancers [exploring] a gothic, haunted mansion in space.” anyways- back to the post.)
Tumblr media
“There’s something else that Will isn’t seeing” vs. “What are you 12 years old dude?” and Will not grasping the true meaning of what Mike said. (this is the post, because I linked the other one. There’s 16 parts at the moment, I won’t make anyone trudge through that if they’re only looking for one thing. So, here it is if you’d like to see it.)
Tumblr media
This line in the script, right here, “nervously”, “contemplatively”, god damn.
Tumblr media
“He stutters through this sentence like he’s nervous. His tone during this statement isn’t sad or heartbroken, it’s contemplative.”
It makes sense. This all makes sense. because they aren’t talking about El, they're asking, “What about us?” But Will doesn’t understand what Mike is saying and Mike doesn’t understand what Will is saying.
And we didn’t need a script to tell us that.

for you, what's the difference between a piece of media that you enjoy but bounce off of and one that you absolutely stick with and cling to? asking bc i've watched trigun absolutely take over your brain and i find that fascinating
ohhhhhh nice question. hello. hi. I've thought about this a lot let me see if i can put it to words at the moment I'm PRETTY high! not that much but quite a bit my thoughts are. slippery
examples of good media that i enjoyed but bounced off of for the most part: the locked tomb, arcane
examples of flawed media that i have latched onto super hard: bsd, genshin, TRISTAMP
fun little fact i stood in front of a classroom and talked about Vash and Wolfwood being gay for each other that was a real thing i did TODAY
anwyay
it's like. good media is just good right it's like. it's like you experience a thing and it's a flawless and well-crafted experience and you have it the way you're meant to have it but there's a bit of me that's like... suspicious of authors who know too well what they're doing. i feel like I'm falling into their sick little trap when i analyse the themes of the text bc I'm like you wanted me to do that you put the food in the fucking puzzle feeder for me to find well now I'm not gonna. also i think the best like the very best crunchy symbolic work comes from authors who are mashing aesthetics and vibes and concepts together and fixing them up with cellotape and toothpicks and it's all going to fall apart like that's the kind of media i like to sink my teeth into bc then i get to REALLY participate in the text. the good stuff is just, it's just satisfying, it's complete before it got to me. but the slightly messy stuff? i wanna fix her up lovingly i wanna bandage her plot holes and kiss her mischaracterization with tongue and really get in on the action with her themes because what i say there MATTERS it changes the text in a way it doesn't with things that are good. a new, interesting interpretation of a messy text is altering to the original. a good and interesting interpretation of a good text is intended. it's not fun anymore. part of the essential fun of fandom is ripping something out of the creator's hands and turning it into your own city with your own rules. not starting over, but starting fresh. and with the things where i genuinely feel like reading it in a new way is letting me bring something new to the text the thrill of it is different, it's deeper. basically the plot needs to be porous as all hell for me to grow roots into it.
i hope that answers your question!! heehee

🌼🌸 anon here to make your day a bit sweeter !! you're an amazing person and i hope you've had an amazing start of the week. now, onto some nosy questions: where do you get your inspiration for your character(s) from? are there specific types of medias that have influenced the way you write or maybe even specific writers (maybe even from the rpc)? anyways, i hope your week continues to be sweet and amazing because the best of the best is what you deserve, dear friend !!
Tumblr media
Hello sweet anon! Thank you so much for including me in your rounds, it really made my day when I saw this in my inbox! So sorry it took me a while to get around to answering it ;w;
Man I have SO many sources of inspiration where do I even begin!!! A major recent source of inspiration has been The Locked Tomb series-- I could gush about it for hours and hours and hours. I'm so enthralled with and encouraged by Tamsyn Muir's style of worldbuilding and the strong, unmistakable voices each of her characters has and how out there the whole plot is, yet it's still so adored by so many readers. It motivates me to keep working on my own canons and writing commissions despite them perhaps not being the most 'maintstream' ideas! I also always get into the writing mood when I listen to anything by World's End Girlfriend. He has absolute astounding musical talent and skill, I feel like I'm falling into an entirely new world every time I listen to any of his songs, no matter how often I may have already heard said song. I haven't been getting much inspiration from things I've been watching, but Guillermo del Toro's movies never fail to reignite my passion for crafting odd, eerie little things that can still be comforting and homey for the right audience.
In terms of influence on my writing, I'd say for sure authors such as the aforementioned Tamsyn Muir have helped me better grasp how to put readers into a world where the world building happens naturally through characters that don't just exposition dump via conversation or thoughts. I've been reading Heaven Official's Blessing as well, and MXTX's style of episodic character-focused plot and action has also really influenced how I've started to approach writing non-linearly for linear stories and treating my writing commissions as though I'm writing episodes; that way I don't get bogged down feeling like I need to write everything in order. I also adore how MXTX writes pining-- I'm such a sucker for it already but the depth she gives it makes me want to dig even deeper with my own muses' vulnerabilities and wants.
As for people, lord alive I could rattle off a shopping list! There are so many mutuals I have that I either talk to every day and have super in-depth character relationships written out, or I'm just starting to write with them, or we chat every often and admire each other's threads and asks while working on starting our own-- and all of them make me SO excited to write! I'll go ahead and tag some to let them know how loved and appreciated they and their writing are to me (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
Ohhhhh this is a fun question!!! This is not in order of how much I love them but simply in order of when I thought of them
Anakin (Star Wars) there’s something so wrong with him genuinely but he’s so pretty that I’m willing to jump in feet first
Agent whiskey (kingsman 2) HELLO COWBOY I’m really into this guy and his southern charm he makes me crazy fr I think we should get a movie where he just hangs out and rides horses
Joel thelastofus (the last of us) my sad man. My babygirl. My brother in arms, traveling companion, occupier of my thoughts. I wanna grab him and Ellie and bring them to our universe so they can catch a break for once
Ianthe (the locked tomb) okay she’s trying so hard to run this empire but god just had a breakup and the other intern lobotomized herself, she’s really having a terrible day. Wet rat of a woman. Evil but kinda bad at it. Can’t monologue for shit. Honestly in love with every woman in that series but she’s really fun to talk about
Zhu Chongba (she who became the sun) THE ABSOLUTE CHARACTER OF ALL TIME!!! She was like well my brother was supposed to have a great destiny but he died. Oh well too bad. I’m gonna become emperor now and also become this books one and only she/her non-binary lesbian
Ben Wyatt (parks and rec) he’s so me fr he’s just an uptight little man who loves his wife and is also autistic. Does not understand Pawnee and I think that’s for the best, I like that he pretends to like lil Sebastian tho
Simon + Patty (dinner in America) autistic girl x punk rock guy (also autistic lol) they’re like Bonnie and Clyde except there’s no murder only arson and the like. I think they should burn more shit tbh but I get it I get it
Pyrrha Dve (the locked tomb) yeah that’s right I’m bringing back this fandom to talk about the love of my life. Trapped in the body of her necromancer, living her life as best she can, and she still takes the time to love Nona. She’s a big butch lady who could throw me through a wall, she’s an emotional wreck, I feel so deeply about this women you have no idea
Alanna (song of the lioness) switched places w her twin brother so she could become a knight, hides as a boy for years, becomes the most badass knight in the kingdom and then she’s like well. Guess I’d better learn martial arts from my part time boytoy AND SHE DOES
Priya (the burning kingdoms) escaped death as a child just to see her people conquered and beaten, frees them from the empire just for her gods to come back and start possessing and killing people. She just wants to be with the love of her life, but duty has kept them apart. In another life she and her girlfriend get to live peacefully

hmmm top 5 favourite cr campaign moments? 👀 from any campaign or from ur choice
!!
This is Long because I Cannot not gush
1) The Cathedral in Campaign 2! The fucking AESTHETICS, the DRAMA, Caleb smashing the window, Yasha nearly killing Beau, Pumat Swole, the shift from glorious cathedral and stained glass down into the bowls of the building, Matt and Ashley's HDYWTDT. It's beautiful and hits so emotionally hard and I simply adore it
2) All of The Fancy and the Fooled, but lets say the party + After especially. Fancy formal dress Mighty Nein is Divine, for one! The Bjreaus jamming out to the Ruby of the Sea's performance while Beau trips balls, locking out the creepy fuck on a balcony 2 electric boogaloo, the maneuvering to get Essek out of there and confront him, and the incredible Shakespeare Liam fuckin OBrian brought when Essek was finally cornered? "You were not born with venome in your veins, you learned it"??? Hi hello?? And ofc Welcome to the Mighty Nein ;;;;;
Also, Fancy and the Fooled was the first episode I ever caught live, and I watched it with @insyndiar, so itll also be special to me for that reason <33
3) The conversation with Syldor in Heredity and Hats. Everything - Laura fuckin Bailey's incredible emotional range, "If I could pull the blood of you from my veins and give it back, I would. I want no part of you", the contrast between Vax and Vex, how Tal tests the waters for titling at intervals prior during the conversation, The Title, "So good sir, despite your relationship with her, do watch your manners", the Literal Mic Drop. The meaning of the moment too, with the Twins confronting their father and letting him have it, and how it ties into Percy and Vex's convo the night before and he found just the perfect way to support Vex in this time (and show he loves her because Oh Shit he Loves Her). And how giddy she is to bring up her new title for the rest of the episode!!
Ok this is getting hard now Fuck
4) Can I just put all the moments between Imogen and Laudna after storm nightmares here? Hell lets include those nightmares, too. The panic and fear and frustration Laura brings to the table, every time, every fucking time, the imagery, the desperation. And how Laudna is so gentle and supportive and just *there* and their dynamic is so soft and strained and im. So excited for Imogen's first nightmare after their fallout last episode because i love them but they need a dose of Angst
5) The Hag. Just. What everyone offered, how much we can speculate about those that didn't get to offer anything? Beau had me devastated, because she was regressing and Marisha was so cmearly mourning potentially losing her character,,,, Yasha going in right after Beau bc she just realized she loved her not long ago, NOTT OFFERING TO RESTART THE WAR?? FUCKER?? And of course Jester's incredible fucking power play because Laura Bailey wins at D&D
Honorable mentions:
- Saying bye to Frumpkin :c because my childhood cat was a white tomcat and he just left one day (keep your cats inside people please). I started bawling 30 minutes into the 7 hour episode boy it was A Time
- Nonagon final battle, just. Holy shit. Everything. Marine layer, Beau's double nat twenties, 'Caleb they need you', almost got a mind controlled Essek, the heals the love the fear the horror visuals ughhh
- Kaylie revealing her identity and Scanlan's reaction
- 'darling take off the mask' 👁👄👁
- the escape from the King's Cage
- inviting Essek for dinner and the hot tub
- "do you want to talk before or after"
- Sunken Tomb :))
- Jester wingmanning Yasha / Beau tripping on Yasha / The Poem
- I could beee herrrr Beacon
- Vex testing out the broom (especially when Percy freaks out over it being unsafe)
- Wall of Fire
- Three orcas chasing Avantika
- Keg <33
- when Beau and Caleb act like siblings, or Vex and Vax do <3
@fatal-blow fuck u <3

N, O, U?
Tumblr media
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
-Going for fandom of choice on that one because I really want to see more Final Fantasy Tactics (the first one)... anything, really! It's an old niche game, so there's so little anywhere that I know of. -Going to Destiny, more dirtying of characters in the "main roster". Dirtying as in less making characters likable and fans of the player. Drifter and Mara Sov are the two main ones I'm thinking of but there are others too on the writing shelf (hello Spider, you're still an antagonist and would like to see more of you). -Still in Destiny, more consequences of things we do. Yeah we help the random team from each season, and then things happen kind of indirectly to that to conclude the season, and quite often it's just "Oh everything worked out". I get why for storytelling purposes but it ties into the whole "everybody likes us" I was talking about at point two, but I don't really remember a thing we as players did that had a negative outcome because we did it? Give me a "We're working on something for a while and later on we realize it was a bad idea but it's too late to turn back" kind of deal. O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?
Using full random for this: Va-t'en pas, from Richard Desjardins, really fits the whole Drifter/Orin dynamic. It's about someone pleading in vain to someone not to go live a different life where they'll be less happy, and how it changes his perception of the world ("Outside there are silences filled with upside-down buses/Outside I saw a sky so hard the birds fell"). Give it a try! U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
-Destiny: Savathûn. Cunning, sure of herself, tall and powerful died anyway. Won anyway. Her voice actor does an AMAZING job.
-The Locked Tomb: Camilla Hect.Incredibly logical and an analyst, but at the same time very very much so driven by attachment and hope that things will be alright in the end. Goes loud despite her haircut, and a nice mix of badass and caring.
-Best for last, from Final Fantasy Tactics: Delita Hyral (Yes I know I also said Agrias, Meliadoul, Ovelia, and Reis are my favourites but hear me out there's a lot of good characters in FFT). An amazing character that is the poster child of the road to hell being paved with good intentions... except that it's not always good intentions. There's so much character growth! Not growth as in "That character becomes better" but as in "That character's motivations, methods and goals are on a steady path and boy do they walk fast". #gatekeep #gaslight #girlboss to the max. If he was known to tumblr in this day and age there would be so much discourse over him being a good person or a bad person (he's both and also neither, which is one of the main things of the game. That and class wars). I could go on for hours about him and he's just there in a few cutscenes cause he works mostly outside what the main character knows and sees! I would never be able to write him and be proud of what I wrote. I both am glad of how he feels in the post-credits scene with Ovelia (ha, get it!) and cry about it cause no one deserves that. Probably makes for an excellent monarch though.
