KYRIE: Eve, you look lovely.
EVE: Thank you. So do you.
KYRIE: Shall we?
EVE: Sorry… these formal events make me a bit nervous.
KYRIE: Don’t be. I made sure you’d have nothing to worry about.
EVE: Such exceptional seats! Is this really for us?
KYRIE: You didn’t expect one of the Chosen to sit amongst the populace, did you?
EVE: I don’t like to expect such extravagance, but this is quite something.
KYRIE: You deserve it. After all, you’ve had no easy go of these trials. I was glad to see you haven’t let it wear on you.
EVE: I suppose, in the beginning, I wanted to believe the best of people. But then, if they choose to approach these trials from a place of selfishness and unkindness, that is their perspective. I imagine they must have their reasons, and for those few, maybe this is the only way they can see to press forward. I don’t begrudge them their choices, but I have to wonder if the path to success is paved in scarlet, or in olive leaves.
KYRIE: I admit I’ve asked myself the same thing. The truth is, I don’t know. I have to believe that those in the past who have ascended to the role of Solar Disciple, did so on merit, and on goodwill. Well, it's the only thing that makes sense to me. But I realize now, that there’s always more than meets the eye. I’ve watched the ceremony from the side for many years, but this is the first time I’ve ever had a personal interest in those involved. As an outsider, I never knew what sort of people the Chosen were, in their hearts. Getting to know you ten, I see it’s far more complicated than I ever believed.
EVE: You don’t think the gods would choose one who is truly evil?
KYRIE: No, I don’t think that. But I do believe these trials are meant to test us. If one may be good, or one may be otherwise, the challenges will force them to decide which path they find most rewarding.
