And how Eat Your Young and Unreal Unearth are about the nine circles of Hell, about the afterlife, about the consequences after death. I’m thinking about one album cover being under water and another being buried under earth, about NFWMB “ain’t it like thunder under earth the sound it makes”, about Unreal Unearth and unearthing something, un-burial, about Like Real People Do “what did you bury before those hands pulled me from the earth.”

I’m thinking Eat Your Young, about Kronos’ mythology, about hunger for and to keep power, about gluttony. I’m thinking about Swan Upon Leda, about the lust Zeus had for Leda, about the greed of man over bodies, about who is the sinner. Pardon me, pardon me hi I JUST CAME FROM TIKTOK (https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM6bPd7nf/) and someone said someone said that the line "Do you know I could break beneath the weight of the goodness, love, I still carry for you?" from the song Unknown/Nth by Hozier is meant to be like Lucifer screaming out to God from the ninth level of hell saying that he still loves him despite the hurt and abandonment AND OHH MY STARSSSSS the very first thing I thought of was to run here and say 2 things:

1. There is no song about painful yearning that I can listen to now and NOT think about Lucifer and Michael 🥹🫵🏽 So, thank you for that (honestly, thank you😭)

2. And I think, having read ABM, that the line from the Hozier song is like...I interpret it as Michael and Lucifer basically (internally) screaming out to each other from Heaven and Hell (I'm assuming that's where Lucifer ended up) respectively saying that "I STILL LOVE YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU ABANDONED ME"...cus I think they both feel that way, one way or the other.

I could write essays!

I've demanded a hardcover copy of ABM from my family for graduation so I can read it again but this time...in ✨hardcover✨

I actually love that the Good Omens fandom is really starting to latch onto “Unknown/ Nth” by Hozier so much. I heard it when it first came out on tiktok, and it’s one of those songs that I struggle to listen to because it just reminds me of the most painful things I don’t want to think about. But now I’m seeing all these people with a completely different view of it, something still sad but hopeful and lovely at the end of the day. It’s really neat to be able to see this thing that once gave me such deeply upsetting feelings in a whole new light, connected to something that gives me comfort.

I may have done these next three out of order, but hey! I got married this year! As some of you may know, paradise valley has been the song that I have been obsessed with since I first heard it on Wolf 359 back in 2018/2019. I couldn't figure out a way to make it work in a traditional sense for the wedding, so I ended up using it as a private last dance. As the clock was hitting ten o'clock we had our dj gently shoo the stragglers out the door and just crooned this to each other in the dark. @puzzle-gvf (my beloved) tagged me to tell y’all about ten songs I’m obsessed with so lets go.

1. “Green Grass and High Tides” The Outlaws

To be clear I am not "old music is better" but I just don't know if there are any groups who do music like this. I want three guitarists standing at the front of the stage doing everything you can do to a guitar without putting it down. y'know? And if they do it for 20 minutes (well the live is 20 minutes) then that's even better.

2. "I Shall Be Released" The Band

I don't know if The Band or Bob Dylan wrote this, they're so close it hardly matters. I've made my Dylan feelings clear on this blog I think. At any rate, this is the superior version and my coworkers (who give me the aux for reasons I don't understand) get really into this with me.

3. "Jessica" The Allman Brothers Band

Speaking of bands who do guitar stuff. I do sing this song, I am singing it right now as I listen to it. Does it have words? No, but I don't let that stop me. I am my father's son. I love a good guitar song.

4. "Sunshine of Your Love" Cream

Even if I haven't made my Dylan feelings clear I'm sure I've made my British Invasion feelings clear. I don't listen to Cream. But I do love Jake Kiszka so so much, and this is a Jake Kiszka song as we all know. He played it when he went to buy his first electric guitar right? I think that's the story I heard.

5. "She Freaks Me Out" Kyle Rising

I showed my dad Greta and he kinda rolled his eyes "I GUESS they sound like Z--" I showed my Dad Mac Saturn and he "they really wanna be the Stones huh?" I showed my dad Kyle Rising and he "he's Jim Morrison reincarnated." so make of that what you will with this song. (its good)

6. "Plain Closes Gentleman" Mac Saturn

Speaking of, I've fallen in love with Mike Moody and mostly I just like listening to his solo in this song but I do like the group as a whole, even if I agree with my dad that they're trying a bit too hard to be the stones. They're incredibly talented and I"m excited to watch them grow.

7. "Unknown/nth" Hozier

I only just listened to this song for the first time, it always takes me ages to listen to hozier songs for the first time, and with The Boys putting out music at the moment, I"m running on empty when it comes to new music. BUT my very best friend in the whole world loves Hozier, and I finally listened to this song and Hozier really wrote this song for him and I to write incredibly sad fan fiction to.

8. "Gets me so High" Grandville

I don't know alot about these guys but I saw a tiktok of them warming up this song and it was very "Eagles warming up to seven Bridges Road" vibes but this????? Classic American Southern Rock is back. the Guitar solo as I listen to this???? I'm gonna, they're so good y'all. I really need to get into this group for real.

9. "Cocksucker Club" Pansy Division

Puzzle you know why i've been listening to this song on repeat lately. If you're NOT Puzzle you don't know about the, now weeks long, back and forth developing a universe full of kinky queer punks and their partners who happen to the be GVF crew. Also I am a member of the club in question so, always a good song to have on repeat.

10. "Sugar Babe" Stephen Stills

When Jake and Sam were arguing about weather Stephen Stills 1 or Stephen Stills 2 was better, Jake was right it is Stephen Stills 1. But this song???? One listen and you'll have "How do turtles talk to one another?" stuck in your head for DAYS afterwards. And Stpehn is so right, people do need love, and they do need trust, and we do need one another. It's altogether a better message than "well settle with whoever is around you if you can't be with the person you love."
