you always have been
thinking thoughts. *ೃ༄ this is very self indulgent im not sorry <3 btw the formatting is terrible 😭 also this is 1.5k words im so proud of myself its literally the longest fic i've ever written
pairing: jj maybank x fem!reader
fandom: outerbanks
warnings: swearing, mentions of being drunk, reader kind of pushes jj away, insecure!reader, stressed out!reader, mentions of jj's trash dad, fear of abandonment, sort of a smau? science hw (yes thats a warning science hw sucks), love confession, hurt/comfort <3
Tumblr media
jj's instagram is a mess. it alternates between pictures of random objects, pictures of himself, and pictures of our friends.
lately, all of his pictures have been pictures of him and the pogues at keggers and on the boat. without me.
the most recent one is a blurry shot of him and kie at the boneyard. his hair is dripping wet and kie is holding up a red solo cup, beer sloshing over the side. the caption reads, "my brst girl 😋 ilysn kier.carrera" its so misspelled its obvious hes drunk, even without looking at the picture.
—————
↳ comments
-> jb.wifirouter ong your so drunk. ↳ heywpope its "youre" not "your" 💀 and you're durnk too ↳ sarahcamer0n lmaooo durnk
-> kier.carrera lol ilyt jj 💀 ↳ kier.carrera wsit wring emoji ❤️
—————
i groan and shut my phone off. kie knows i like jj. she's heard me rant about him since eighth grade. its fine, though. i need to focus on school. i get up and silence my phone, putting it into a drawer at my desk before going back to the papers sprawled on my bed.
science isn't my best subject, but i need this extra credit to bring my grade up. and, no pressure at all, this stupid extra credit is due by monday, at its literally sunday night. at least its pretty easy. all i have to do is write an essay about newton's laws and how they function in the "real" world. i sigh and open my textbook to the page on the first law, inertia.
as im scribbling down the beginnings of the paragraph about f=ma, my pencil breaks. well, how fucking dandy. i get up and head to my desk to grab a sharpener, and i pass the mirror next to my door.
i cringe away, then force myself to look back. the girl staring back at me is... not kie. not sarah. she's wearing a big oversized t-shirt she stole from jj and some shorts. her nail polish is chipped and her hair is practically crying for escape from the worn scrunchie.
i tear my gaze away and grab the sharpener. the clock on my desk reads 11:11 pm. i remember something kie said about making wishes at 11:11, so i think, why not give it a try? i squeeze my eyes shut and hope my wish gets to whatever magical star angel being is listening.
after i finish my essay, its 12:23 am. i grab my phone from the drawer and see a flurry of texts and instagram notifications assaulting my lock screen.
i ignore the texts — six from kie and eight from jj — and click open instagram.
my homepage is filled with pictures of the pogues at the kegger they're at. i can't help the pettiness that surges up inside me and i click on jj's most recent story, a video of him, kie, pope, john b, and sarah screaming the lyrics to bohemian rhapsody around a campfire.
—————
you replied to their story
yourinstagram looks like you're having fun :)
—————
i feel slightly terrible, but whatever. every single kegger they've been to this past week, i haven't been invited.
a text notification comes down onto my screen. it's from kie. the preview reads "im soo sorru"
what the hell? i immediately click on the text and i almost start crying.
—————
kie kie ml ♡
bro so dnt be mad but like i accidentally told jj that u liked him
im sorry
answer me please idont want yu to be mad
i dd;t mean to i swaer

:(*** SORRY
whatever. go enjoy your kegger.
—————
what the everloving fuck. i specifically told her not to tell anyone, especially jj, and she goes and tells everyone and their mother. i've gotten a flurry of texts from pope, john b, sarah, and other pogues i suppose are at the kegger, all asking me if it's true i like jj. and, speak of the devil, jj himself has been texting me nonstop for the past thirty minutes.
—————
golden retriever lookin' mf 😋
haha kie jus told me the funnist shut
wait is she for real
wait n/n yuo like me
like fr fr?
brp answer me pls
y/nnnnnn
are you asleepo r somethinh 💀
y/n if you dpn't answer rn rn im going ovet to yiur house
—————
shit. jj can't come over right now. i look like a mess, and now im fucking crying. my gaze drifts back over to the mirror; my eyes are red and puffy and tears are streaming down my face and dripping down onto my (jj's) shirt.
—————
golden retriever lookin' mf 😋
jj please dont come over just stay at the kegger and have fun
nooo y/n im already on my wsy so its fine
—————
shit shit shit.
i throw my phone across the room and scream into my bedsheets. the pogues already didn't like me anymore; they had been going out and having fun without for weeks now, and now kie tells jj i like him? my life is fucking falling apart.
a knock at my window wakes me up from whatever sad haze i was trapped in for the last twenty minutes. jj's peering in and he smiles when he meets my gaze. i shake my head and turn away from him.
no bother letting him in, he'll probably just tell me that he doesn't like me back and to never talk to him again.
another knock, persistent, sounds from the window. i sigh and turn back.
i open the window but leave the screen up, so jj can hear me but he can't get in. "go away, j."
"nooo. wait, why are you cryiinggg?" he asks, the booze slurring his words.
"nothing. no reason. go away, please, jj," i say, my voice cracking.
his face softens and he seems to sober up a bit. "n/n, please tell me what's wrong. i hate seeing you sad," he whispers. fuck. i can't, i can't with the fucking blue eyes and the soft looks and the whispers. i open the rest of the window, and jj climbs in.
i crawl under the covers of my bed and face away from jj. i feel the bed dip next to me and he lays a warm hand on my back. its so casual, so domestic, that i want to laugh.
"sunshine, what's wrong? is this about what kie said?" he asks, gently rubbing my back.
the dam breaks. tears start flowing out of my eyes and i started shaking.
"it is about what kie said. i like you, jj, i really like you. no, i- i love you! i love you so much. i've loved you since i first saw you in mrs. williams' science class in eight grade and you laughed when she said that iron was discovered by the hittites. and i know you'll never love me back because— well— look at me! im not like kie, im not like sarah. i'm just... me! and i've been trying to pretend like you guys going to keggers everyday without me isn't a big deal because, hey, i'm swamped with school, even though its fucking intercession. and i knew if i told you, you'd hate me and you'd never talk to me again," i sob into my pillow.
jj is silent for a few seconds, still rubbing my back.
"i love you too, sunshine. i've loved you for the entirety of the time i've known you. and, you're right. you're not kie or sarah, but you're you. that's what i love about you. you are unapologetically yourself. and i'm sorry for not inviting you to the keggers. i just, i knew you were swamped and i know you don't really like parties 'nd drinking and shit. and i just want you to know that im so proud of you, honey, and— jesus, y/n. you're the only one for me. you always have been. you're the person who's been there whenever luke did something shitty to me, you've helped me with my homework, and gosh, dare i say it, you've helped me be a better person."
he chuckles. i feel him press a kiss to the back of my neck and gently bring me towards him so i'm basically in his lap. he wraps his arms around me and lays his head in the crook of my neck. we stay together in a comfortable silence for a few moments.
i sniffle. "i'm sorry, j."
"you're not the one who should be apologizing, sunshine. i love you, so much. i'm sorry if i made you feel like i'd never talk to you again or like you weren't enough; you are enough. you always have been."

Hello how are you doing? :P
Alive and kicking, for now at least—
I do currently have an absolutely inhuman amount of work dangling above me, threatening to crush me whenever it so chooses
Since I don't have anybody in my actual real life I can complain about this too, let me go over the full magnitude of exactly what I have to get done, so you can understand the sheer amount of bullshittery that's been thrusted upon me
I have to write 3 essays before Friday on Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architecture and statues, because I need to submit one of them for my western survey midterm but my professor has which one set at random, he also won't allow you to simply copy and paste whichever essay it turns out to be, you have to rewrite the entire thing in the text box provided
So that midterm is due Friday and is also composed of 9 short response questions that I don't know anything about before going into it, I have a staggering 90 minutes to do all of that 👌
Then I have a continuation of a semester long graphic design project, which requires me to create 25 unique logos based on a fictional environmental activism corporation, due Friday as well
Also on the graphic design schedule we have a completely different project, due Sunday, which specifically says in the header "Don't wait until the last minute to start working on this", which requires me to design four stamps based on social issues, with no less than 12 different steps of criteria for each, and then, of course, a formal analysis for the set
And then ending it off strong we have a discussion post which thankfully only requires about 3 paragraphs worth of work, one paragraph due Friday and the other two on Sunday
After that 3 psychology assignments due Friday, I'm really kind of scared to look at that class because I know I have this really big grade hanging over my head, but I don't know much about it or when it's due, and every week that passes I tell myself I'll deal with it next week—
Then moving ahead a bit, I have to fully shade an 11 × 14 in fantasy based architecture drawing, with a fine liner, before Monday, because that's when we're critiquing
Have to finish a landscape charcoal drawing that I've worked like 4 hours on and I'm only about 15℅ done with before Tuesday, because that's when we're critiquing
And then I have a western survey research paper due on Wednesday, that I have not started, roughly 5 pages and requires me to find 4 peer reviewed sources and properly cite them 😀
On top of that I'm completely losing tomorrow afternoon because I agreed to go to an event with a family member out of obligation, which I only learned about this morning, because if I don't go then a different family member of mine would go in my place, and having the two of them in a room together might actually lead to the final nail in the coffin of their multi decade long relationship
And I think that's about it—
So I'm just a tad bit stressed, but I assure you that I'm handling this with the utmost of optimism I am physically capable of, and no matter how all of this plays out I'm not going to die nor is it the end of the world, which is what I have to keep telling myself
So I apologize for kind of rambling for something that required a short concise answer, but honestly writing all that out was kind of therapeutic and it might actually help me keep better track of everything—
So thank you for the check in, I needed it, and I hope you aren't suffering the same fate
And maybe send a prayer to Lord Barbatos for me cause I'm gonna need it

Fri. 9.2.22 (SVC)
REMINDERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
I added Students Set Codes on syllabus itself and in an update on Schoology. This is what connects your work on InQuizitive, Chapter Tutorials, etc to our specific class.
For the 8:30 section, it's 610891.
For the 9:30 section, it's 619218.
I also adjusted the syllabus for next week so that it reads more like one of my own. I’ll keep doing this!
You should have registered online with Norton and completed Chapter 1 Tutorial (accepted until classtime on 9.7) and InQuizitive (1): How to Use InQuizitive (accepted until 12.9).
Updated  Extra-Credit (1); I changed the one on Schoology to the one I went over in class on the first day (I'm sure everyone has forgotten this :) and pushed the due date to 9.9.22.
Anything that had been unclear this week is totally on me! BUT, starting next week (remember we have Monday off), everyone should be up to speed on everything: Schoology, the syllabuses, the textbook and associated digital resources like the Tutorials and InQuzitive.
Notes on Chapter 12, TSIS, Chapter 12 ("I TAKE YOUR POINT: Entering Class Discussions"):
Good classroom conversation involves SUMMARIZING and RESPONDING to what's already been said (like I try to do when you participate: I repeat what you said and try to connect with it!).
Use people's names if you can and point out the specific idea that you are responding to! (172-173)
Be clear about how YOU ARE changing the direction of the conversation (174).
Stick to ONE MAIN POINT (I am sometimes bad at this :). You can always elaborate more later on --> elevator pitch example re job interviews, dissertations, etc.
END OF WEEK 1 ACTIVITY   To practice the They Say/I Say format + class discussions:
You write YOUR NAME at the top of the page then YOUR NAME + one sentence below that (one sentence only) making an argument/point/statement about a topic that is debated/recent/important, then pass the paper to your right.
The next student responds to your "They Say" with THEIR NAME + a one-sentence "I Say," and so on and so on, until the paper gets back to you.
If everyone responds to everyone else and puts the paper on my desk by the end of class today, everyone gets +2 points Extra-Credit!
HOMEWORK (for Wed. 9.7--Mon. 9.5 is Labor Day and we don’t have class!)
Read Chapter 2 (“HER POINT IS: The Art of Summarizing”).
Do the Chapter 2 Tutorial before class.
Maybe start reading some of the essays for Friday, since you have to read four of them!

astro witch coven au (eunwoo)
Tumblr media
introduction | rocky | eunwoo | moon bin | mj | jinjin
he trained under Snuper’s coven as an apprentice
Snuper as the OG healing team – they’re all nurses but with different healing methods
Eunwoo primarily adopted Sangil’s method of healing via prolonged skin-ship
but as we all know Eunwoo is ridiculously smart
he’s picked up Sebin’s (emotional and psychological healing via empath links) and Suhyun’s (healing aided by chanting and potions) by mere exposure during the time he trained under Sangil
it was really weird when they found out because one day there was this kid who stumbled in with his hand dripping with some glowing substance that couldn’t be wiped off
and normally with supernatural substances Taewoong or Suhyun are called in
but Taewoong had no luck after an hour and Suhyun wasn’t in and the poor boy looked like he was in so much pain that Eunwoo had to do something
so Eunwoo sat him down, gritted his teeth, slid on his glasses and tried to remember as much as possible what he’s seen Suhyun do in these situations
and somehow after 2 hours of low-pitched chanting and a sweating Eunwoo and three discarded healing-song books, the substance finally slid off the boy’s hand
yeah he was shookt
they were all shookt lmao
Eunwoo’s the resident Mum™
honestly though
he knows the boys sometimes don’t go to sleep for days on end, especially when MJ’s rituals require him to chant on and off for 3 days and when Rocky’s potions need constant monitoring overnight and he doesn’t trust anyone to do it
and so he sometimes presses his fingers to their back to help relax their muscles and prepare them for the long night ahead
but most of the time he just presses food on them and makes sure they eat on time at least
also sometimes they’re so messy he just kind of nags them into doing all their chores
and Eunwoo doesn’t know this but lmao most of the time the boys just kind of hand over their chores to Jinjin for favours like leaving him alone in the room with MJ for a while
can be most often found surrounded by books
reads widely about healing methods and different diseases and ailments
but also reads a lot of romance novels
also read Twilight once and coughed so violently in shock they needed Rocky to brew an emergency potion to stop it
also hangs around Bin a lot
like a lot
it’s not even a joke anymore at this point
whenever anyone comes to seek Eunwoo the rest of Astro doesn’t even bother going to the Healing room to look for Eunwoo they just ring Bin’s bell in a specific pattern and Bin has to rouse Eunwoo from whatever he was reading or from whoever (Bin) he’s staring at to go to his patient
Eunwoo maintains that this is because Bin often puts too much of his energy trying out a new spell and passes out and needs Eunwoo to revive him but
we all know why he’s there
team s o A P
he will deny it until the day he dies but he loves seeing blue energy flow out of Bin’s hands and into the talisman
it’s just so graceful?????
and the way Bin’s fingers gently manoeuvre and mold the ball of light ?????????? beautiful
sometimes the energy doesn’t work well and Bin has to focus and his eyes shine with attention and concentration and ???? wow Eunwoo loves that look
incredible
and sometimes Bin’s doing basic things like cleaning the crystals he has to charm or polishing his glasses and he starts humming and smiling to himself and his hair falls into his eyes and wow
like, wow
wow Eunwoo is so whipped
but don’t suggest it to him because he’ll just get flustered and his eyes will widen and he’ll stammer trying to deny everything
“hahahAHAH who ??? has a crush??? on Bin??????? what is a crush haha who’s Bin I’ve never heard of him hHAHhhahahhhhh”
yeah he gets flustered and blushes very easily can you tell
is the one that recruited Bin into the coven
wow let me tell you he’s been whipped for Bin the moment the idiot showed up with a bleeding cut and about 10 crystals hovering around his head
but that’s also a story for another time
is the coven co-founder along with Rocky
this is a long story are you ready because here we go
so one day a witch bursts into the Snuper coven house carrying his daughter on his back and she’s bleeding out everywhere and he’s crying and panicking and pleading, pleading for someone to help her and he’d do anything, just please –
and so Sangil and Suhyun hurriedly clear a Healing table and set her down and Sangho starts treating her wounds with human medicine but her blood won’t stop flowing out
and immediately Taewoong brings out his elemental equipment and Sangil places his hand on her stomach and they start work
both witches sit by her bed for two days and two nights, both stopping briefly only for short breaks when Suhyun delivers the patient’s next batch of potions and begins his chanting
and because the main touch-Healer Sangil is taken up, apprentice Eunwoo is left to tend to the rest of the patients coming in
a lot of them
a lot of patients
okay, not that many
but more than what Eunwoo is used to given that he’s only been dealing with at most two patients a day but now he has to deal with up to ten and by the end of the two days and two nights with very little sleep or rest Eunwoo is exhausted and near the brink of collapse
he’s transferred nearly all his energy to other people during their skin-ship and it’s just really draining
and so Suhyun tells him gently to go outside and take a break and walk over to the Bangtan coven to pick up more potions please because we’re running out
and so he does
and he’s directed into the Potions shop in the basement of the coven house
and remember how I said the first time Eunwoo walks into the potion room he nearly gets smacked on the head by a flying glass vial
lmao
it was Rocky
(“thanks a lot, Park Minhyuk” – Eunwoo, still bitter to this day)
and so exhausted Eunwoo stands teetering on the threshold of Rocky’s Yoongi’s potions room and wow he’s heard from Suhyun that Yoongi was pretty smol and emo and grumpy but
this witch standing behind a bubbling cauldron two metres away is smoller and grumpier than he expects
also younger
Eunwoo coughs“I gotta ??? get an order ??? for Suhyun? ?? ?? ??????????” mm yes very coherent, Eunwoo
he watches as Yoongi Rocky waves his hand and warm golden waves wrap themselves around vials on a nearby table and wafts them into an open bag, which floats over to Eunwoo
except Eunwoo’s eyes are slipping closed and he sags against the doorway for support
and our smol Rocky, while grumpy, is somewhat alarmed
he tugs the closest Restoration potion from the wall of potion vials behind him and runs over to Eunwoo, uncorking the bottle and tipping it into Eunwoo’s mouth
“drink, you idiot”
Eunwoo is also still bitter to this day that Rocky dropped honorifics but
when someone is saving your life I guess you can’t be picky
and Rocky looks so threatening and grumpy and also mildly alarmed that Eunwoo opens his mouth in alarm and nearly chokes on the Restoration potion
and Eunwoo isn’t sure if anything someone so grumpy made could ever work well because Eunwoo was taught that you have to be in a good mood to help and heal people ???
wrong (ddeng sound)
it worked very well
honestly, too well
Eunwoo’s eyes shoot open and he feels tingling all the way down to his feet, a gentle green light running over his limbs and all the way down to his fingertips and toes
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – Eunwoo, at that point in time
because he’s never had such a strong reaction to a Restoration potion before?? even when Suhyun got it from this place and he gave some to Eunwoo he’s never had such an in-tune reaction to the potion
literally though Eunwoo’s glow only comes out when he’s touching someone and in the conscious process of Healing
but he’s now glowing with green light all over and he’s laughing and everything seems clearer and brighter and he’s grinning down at the now more-than-slightly alarmed Rocky
and offers to set up a coven with Rocky right then and there because how??? does this smol potioneer (that he discovers in a bit is Not Yoongi and is in fact his smol cousin)
and proceeds to sweep out of the Bangtan house to put down a lease payment for a new coven house before Rocky even agrees
Rocky was shookt, to say the least
so was I, Rocky, so was I
bin’s up next y’all pls anticipate

A Vital Information To The Nightlife In Tokyos Notorious Kabukichō District, Japan
Once the purchasing malls shut for the night time, the many restaurants and pubs within the Ginza neighborhood take their turn within the spotlight. While there are nightclubs in the area, many of these bars and pubs have a more casual environment. Shinjuku – With many restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs, Shinjuku can also be a top nightlife choice in Tokyo. It is understood for its LGBT-friendly atmosphere, with quite a few institutions that cater to the group. I arrange conferences between the government and the membership owners, party organisers and nightlife representatives to come up with concepts to reinforce the industry. Right now, we’re targeted on amending restrictions on the scale and space of golf equipment. I additionally characterize the club and membership culture conference in Tokyo, a platform that brings the city’s artists and DJ neighborhood collectively. Geisha get their roots from female entertainers, such as the Saburuku of 7th century Japan and the Shirabyoshi in the 13th century. In the early 1600’s a selected section of Edo was designated completely for brothels. This seems paradoxical, however after a few years of civil warfare in Japan the wives and daughters of samurai in the defeated Toyotomi clan had been displaced within society. To make a residing, these ladies had been forced to show to prostitution. During this time, rising prosperity boosted the incomes of the merchant class and the demand for artists, as well as courtesans. A hierarchy of courtesans developed with totally different expectations for every class. This place supplies great music, swimming pools and there is even a pool situated on the dancefloor. There are 3 dancefloors and there are a number of spots the place you presumably can sit back and enjoy the music. Even although it's situated outdoors of the city, they provide shuttle buses that move from town and to this middle. So there’s no need to fret about getting again residence the subsequent day or even if you’ve had a little an extreme amount of to drink should you go clubbing in Japan at night. Karaoke is a big part of Japanese tradition normally, but in addition an enormous part of nightlife culture. Many Japanese folks enjoy a night of karaoke and drinks after work for a little bit of unwinding. Unlike many western type karaoke locations where singing is completed publicly on stage in a bar scene, Japanese karaoke is finished in little cubicles or rooms that are usually rented out per hour. In conclusion, the Tokyo Nightlife is considered one of world's best however often travelers have no idea the place to go or the place to begin. The most bizarre after celebration restaurant is certainly 24/7 Cafe Eight in Roppongi, ensure to order the crispy peking duck and pay your respects to the most awkward shrine I've ever seen at a restaurant. The bar with the crazy flame spewing bartender, I have never seen something like it. You will more than likely visit this place in the course of the Tokyo Pub Crawl. Seven Of Japan's Most Celebrated Occasions & Festivals On the extra modern facet, you’ll also discover people out cosplaying at this festival, and even a automotive show. The Seattle Cherry Blossom and Japanese Culture Festival, April 24-26, is a free occasion that’s open to the public, celebrating both Japanese and Japanese-American tradition. The authentic aim of this festival was to strengthen cultural bonds between Japan and the United States, and it's timed with the blossoming of the sakura in Seattle, Washington. The competition celebrates Japanese style, artwork, and music, with performances of taiko drumming and martial arts. When a nationwide holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday becomes a vacation. Kyoto and Tokyo are especially well-known for his or her colorful festivals however each area in Japan can boast some exceptional and often quirky occasions. See beneath for an inventory of Japanese festivals by month. Autumn is the time for a selection of harvest festivals because the rice is collected and the first sake of the year is made and celebrated. Japanese festivals are sometimes linked with particular historical occasions, fertility rites or prayers to the gods for good well being. A later New Year's celebration, Koshōgatsu, actually means "Small New Year" and begins with the first full moon of the year . They usually depict gods, historical or legendary figures from both Japanese and Chinese history. Held within the historic suburb of Asakusa, thus occasion features one of many largest mikoshi parades within the country. Read this web page to know more about this well-known Japanese summer time festival. They are made of painted washi paper over a wire body. They depict a variety of scenes and figures from Japanese culture, Chinese tradition, kabuki actors, and extra. The festivals until follows many traditions set at its starting, together with choosing a local boy to be a divine messenger. Touring With Youngsters In Japan AQUAS Aquarium in Hamada, a large aquarium featuring aquatic life from all over the world. The highlight of the aquarium are the famous beluga whale reveals in which the belugas blow bubble rings and then swim by way of them. And it’s one of many safest international locations in the world, which is a wonderful feeling when you have children, and also as a woman. It was the first time in my life I didn’t feel the necessity to watch my again. It’s price calculating the prices of your itinerary to Japan with and with out the rail cross to see which option is best for you. In retrospect, I don’t assume Japan is the most effective place for a single father or mother. There simply actually aren’t sufficient resources within the smaller cities. Perhaps in Tokyo one would be OK, especially with good Japanese. Prime 10 Fantastic Japanese Gardens If you stop by the Japanese Tea House for a cup of tea, you can even catch sight of this attraction when peering beyond the pond. The Sasebo Japanese Garden is a synthesis between New Mexico and a traditional Japanese garden. Along with native Japanese fauna and flora onsite, the backyard additionally has native New Mexican trees which are pruned and sculpted within the Japanese aesthetic. If these gardens encourage you to convey a piece of Japanese artwork and design into your home, make certain you have the proper tools. But first, maintain scrolling for a quantity of of our favourite Japanese gardens. The park is the most effective locations to go for a peaceable stroll within the area. The lovely backyard has a historic and cultural significance within the country. Well situated within the Sumida Ward district, this visitor home is set 2.6 km from Sensoji Temple. The property is three.4 km from Edo Tokyo Museum and seven km from Marunouchi Building. The guest home is equipped with a kitchenette with an electric kettle, microwave, toaster and fridge. An easy Japanese breakfast with rice balls and miso soup or a simple cereal is out there every day on the property upon prior reservation. For many, a visit to a conventional Japanese stroll-garden proves a highlight to a visit to Japan. But the good news is, due to their worldwide and inspiring reputation, these gardens can be visited all round the world. It does not have many cherry timber, however it's still good for viewing cherry blossoms within the spring. The front backyard has a villa and tea home, and the again is a strolling backyard centered around a pond. But more importantly, it’s an inviting and very needed escape from the crowds nearby. The purple arch bridge, meanwhile, is of typical Japanese design and contains eight bronze lotus flower bud finials. Weddings, celebrations of life, professional pictures or movies/commercials, you can hire considered one of Los Angeles' most lovely locations. We are celebrating this special anniversary all 12 months long with commemorative activities. While our programming is all virtual for now, we look ahead to welcoming you again into the backyard to have fun with us quickly. Open to the public since June 1960, Seattle Japanese Garden is amongst the most extremely regarded Japanese-style gardens in North America. For extra info on the historical past of the Japanese Garden, click right here to visit the Houston Parks and Recreation Department's web page. The entrance to the Japanese Garden is near the Pioneer Memorial obelisk simply off Molly Ann Smith Plaza near the Heart of the Park. The Worlds Of Japanese Popular Culture When the trend first appeared, it was meet with a unfavorable perception; however, since the 2000s, cosplay has become an accepted phenomenon. Kawaii – which means “cute” and “beautiful”, this may be a main visual component in Japanese pop culture. pretty well at least until i remember that I have 2 psychology essays due monday and 3 psychology writing assignments due wednesday :')
Better get started on that now then wait last minute, prioritize the essays due Monday since they're due sooner but also rotate to the writing assignments if you feel stuck.
Set timers so you don't burn yourself out during writing, during small breaks get up and move around to get the blood flowing.
Also little lifehack if you need to make your essay longer:
Change your font size from 12 to 12.5, change your punctuations 14 size font, move your left and right margins in 1/8 of an inch. All of these will help you in meeting your page requirement.
This is under the assumption that you're gonna print it, if not then that's a yikes on my part.

¿Cómo se dice ‘I’m in Deep Sh*t’?
Summary: Due to unforeseen circumstances (and a bit of procrastination), Peter runs out of time to prepare for his Spanish presentation and ends up faking sick to buy himself some more.
He just wasn’t really counting on Tony being the one to pick him up from school.
Word count: 2,997
Genre: humor, fluff, whump
Link to read on Ao3
A/N: Based on a prompt from @coconutknightshade!
Apparently it takes a village to write a story lol—thanks to @xxx-cat-xxx, @sallyidss, @fandomsficsandfeels, & @seek-rest for beta-reading and ideas, and @lunannex for Spanish help!
“What if I just like… fake my death?” Peter suggests as he hands his mentor a different sized wrench. “They can’t mark me down for not doing it if I’m dead, right?”
Tony, who is currently bent over their latest project (replacing the timing belt in May’s car), snorts. “As someone who’s been officially presumed dead more than once, can’t say I recommend it. Way too much paperwork.”
Peter sighs. “Can we stage a kidnapping then?” he says hopefully. “Or an alien abduction?”
Tony rolls his eyes. “It’s a four-minute speech, not the end of the world—though I have some experience with that too.” He holds out a hand. “Half inch ratchet.”
“A four-minute speech in Spanish,” Peter emphasizes, passing him the requested tool. “Which is a language I don’t speak.”
“Hence why you’re in Spanish class,” Tony counters. “With all the other kids who can’t speak Spanish.”
“But it’s also like ten percent of my grade,” Peter goes on as his mentor loosens the timing belt and removes it from the engine before handing it to Peter to set aside. “And I have to talk about what I do in a typical week, and it’s not like I can say I go patrolling or come over to the compound, so I’m gonna have to make stuff up—”
Tony interrupts, “Yo veo mucha televisión,” he says sagely.
“—and then what if I get up there and forget everything and just sound stupid?” Peter continues his rant. He groans and passes Tony the replacement belt. “Maybe I should just conveniently get the flu on Wednesday.”
Looking up from the engine, Tony raises an eyebrow at him. “Are you really this stressed about it? Because if you need to focus on school, I could just finish this up myself.”
Peter sighs again and runs a hand through his hair—he hadn’t meant to complain this much, he’d just kind of gotten on a roll after Tony asked him how school was going. “No, no… I wanted to come over—really. And I’ve got three more days to work on it, it’s just like… ugh. I should have taken German instead.”
Tony huffs out a short laugh. “Pretty sure they have to speak in German class too.”
“Yeah but MJ’s not in German…” Peter mutters under his breath.
“What was that?” Tony asks, elbow deep in the engine block.
Peter expels a breath. “Nothing, it’s fine,” he says a bit more audibly, trying to convince himself as much as his mentor. So what if the most observant and shrewd person in his year also happens to be in his Spanish class?
(And so what if he might have a bit of a crush on her?)
Tony chuckles. “You’ll do great, kid,” he assures. “Just make sure you practice.”
Peter forces a smile. “Right, yeah, of course.”
X
Practicing, however, turns out to be easier said than done.
With finals fast approaching, it’s crunch time for all of Peter’s classes. Whatever spare moments he has over the weekend are spent finishing up his Animal Farm essay for the English summative and cramming for his geometry test Monday morning. The upcoming Spanish presentation hangs over his head, but it’s more annoying than anything else. He figures it should be fairly simple to actually bullshit something and translate it if he just sits down and does it (which, ironically, somehow makes it easier to push off).
He’s intending to work on it Monday evening, but a winter storm hits that afternoon, dumping eight inches of snow and ice on the city. Peter spends most of his patrol assisting with minor traffic accidents and helping stranded motorists scrape ice from their vehicles or shovel cars out of parking spaces. By the time he gets home late that night, he’s too exhausted to do much more than sit on the couch with May and drink cocoa while she watches Grey’s Anatomy reruns.
Oh well. He’s still got time.
Peter tries to make good use of his study hall on Tuesday, but the period ends up being kind of a wash. He spends half the time attempting to come up with something to say that is both interesting enough to make him seem not totally lame while still believable enough to fool MJ, and the other half messing around on his phone and trying to recall the name of the annoying song stuck in his head.
(It was ‘Goodbye’ by The Spice Girls.)
He’s intending to finish the presentation Tuesday evening after he gets home, but then Ned throws an unexpected monkey wrench into his plans just before the final bell rings.
“So I gotta be there early for warm ups, but my mom will pick you up around six, okay?” he tells Peter as they pack up their book bags.
Peter frowns, confused. “...Pick me up?”
Ned tilts his head. “Unless May can give you a ride after all? But I thought you said she was working tonight, right?”
All of a sudden it clicks—tonight is Ned’s first band concert. He’d taken up percussion a few months back in an effort to beef up his extracurriculars for his college applications. Peter agreed to go to the performance weeks ago.
“Oh right right right,” Peter quickly covers. “Six is great. I’ll see her then!”
Ned beams. “Awesome! My sister and her boyfriend are coming too, so we might go out to celebrate afterwards!”
“Yeah, awesome!” Peter agrees, forcing a grin. “That should be really fun.”
(Oh yeah, he’s screwed.)
X
The concert was cool. Ned hit that triangle with all the required enthusiasm whenever his parts came up, and Peter flashed him loads of encouraging thumbs-ups from the audience. When it was over, they all went out to Denny’s for some mediocre late-night pancakes and the usual Leeds family banter. All in all, a pretty fun night.
When Peter gets home a little after ten, he opens his Spanish doc in one tab and promptly falls into a YouTube hole in another while looking for background music. He’s still grinning when he closes out of his fifth vine compilation video in a row until he checks the time a second later and the grin dissolves. It’s 12:03 a.m.
Oops.
Study hall Wednesday morning will be his saving grace, he’s sure.
X
So, of course, a fight has to break out right outside of the library.
It’s not too bad—the two instigating students are hauled away by security with a couple bloody noses and black eyes, and a few other kids are taken down to the office for questioning. Peter was far enough removed from the action that he doesn’t have to come along, but the whole debacle eats up all but the last ten minutes of the period so when the bell finally rings, he’s got precisely five words written down:
Hola, me llamo Peter Parker.
(Suddenly all those jokes about faking his own death are starting to sound a lot more appealing.)
Or if not my death, he thinks as he trudges down the hall in the direction of his Spanish classroom, cold dread pooling in his gut, then at least…
He stops walking, glancing sideways into the brightly lit office just off the hall. The elderly nurse is sitting at her desk, glasses half-way down her nose as she reads a paperback novel with the picture of a Christmasy log cabin on the cover.
No. He can’t. He doesn’t lie.
...Unless…
No. May’s at work. She’d have to leave early to come and pick him up.
Okay, but it’s not like you do this often, his brain counters. Hell, you came to school with a concussion and two cracked ribs last month and didn’t say a word about it. May can take one for the team just this once.
Peter slips into the bathroom across the hall and waits there until the bell rings to signal the end of passing period, and then an additional five minutes on top of that to add some credibility to his act. He splashes a bit of cold water on his forehead and around his neck, and then works himself up with some heavy breathing before exiting the bathroom.
Folding his arms over his stomach, Peter moves shakily across the hall back toward the nurse’s office, making an effort to look as unwell as possible. A passing student eyes him suspiciously and gives him a wide berth, so he figures he must be doing something right.
Steeling himself with a shuddery breath, he steps into the office.
“Hall pass?” the nurse asks without looking up from her book.
“Um, no, I don’t have one, uh…” Peter’s heart is fluttering in his chest. “I just… I’m not feeling good.”
Eyes still on the page, the nurse silently taps a finger to a sign on the wall just behind her desk which reads: PASSES REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS.
Peter swallows hard. C’mon, Parker—commit. “Right, but, uh, I came from the bathroom.” He hugs himself a little tighter and looks down. “My stomach really hurts. I was throwing up and, uh… stuff,” he concludes, deciding that in this case, less is more.
The nurse’s expression softens. She lowers her novel and gets to her feet with a small sigh. “Well, there is a bug going around,” she concedes, gesturing for him to sit down on the cot in the back of her office.
Peter keeps his responses vague when she requests more specific information on his symptoms, mostly offering shrugs or short, mumbled answers. She checks his temperature and seems slightly suspicious at his lack of fever, but he makes up for it by getting up suddenly and darting into the nurse’s bathroom.
When he emerges—exactly seven minutes and two new levels of Candy Crush later—Peter makes sure to keep his eyes averted from the nurse’s gaze and his movements slow and a little unsteady, one hand hovering over his stomach. She gives him a bottle of Gatorade and a couple of crackers and tells him to lie down until May comes to pick him up.
“I got ahold of her,” the nurse informs, sounding more sympathetic now. She slides a small garbage bin beside the cot. “She says she’s just finishing something up at work and then she’ll be right over.”
“Thank you,” Peter mutters tiredly. He doesn’t even have to act for that part—between the stress of his upcoming finals and his last couple of late nights, he really is exhausted and he has a bit of a headache. It makes him feel just the slightest bit better about pulling May away from her shift that there’s at least something physically wrong with him, even if it isn’t what he’s claiming.
Under the thin fleece blanket the nurse gives him, Peter manages to drift off to sleep.
X
But it turns out, today is just really not his day.
“No fever yet, but sometimes with these kinds of bugs that doesn’t come until later,” Peter overhears the nurse explaining in a low voice. He’s lying curled up on the cot, face toward the wall. “If that happens, just remember that he needs to be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.”
“Oh, I have a feeling that won’t be a problem,” a familiar voice that definitely does not belong to Aunt May replies.
“Mr. Stark?” Peter’s eyes snap open fully and he sits up in a hurry.
Tony and the nurse are standing together beside her desk, chatting quietly. Tony turns to look at Peter, face straight but eyebrows raised in amusement. “Oh would you look at that—he lives,” he remarks. “Feeling any better, Pete?”
Immediately, Peter wraps an arm around his stomach and does his best to look ill. “Uh, no, not really... but, um wh-what are you doing here?”
“The hospital is a little short-staffed today and your aunt was having trouble finding someone to cover her shift,” Tony explains, keeping his expression perfectly neutral. “She called to ask if I minded picking you up. You know”—his eyes narrow—“since you’re so sick.”
(Peter gulps. He’s starting to wonder if maybe he’ll be sick after all.)
“So of course, I told her I would,” Tony goes on. “I mean, if you’re feeling this bad, we could hardly just leave you here...”
Peter has to force himself to meet Tony’s gaze. “Right. Um, thank you. That’s super nice of you.”
“Well, you know me, Tony Super-Nice Stark,” his mentor says with a small chuckle as he steps closer to the bed.
“Now, with stomach bugs, the biggest concern is going to be dehydration,” the nurse continues. “So you’re going to want to push fluids, especially if he’s having di—”
“Fluids, got it,” Peter cuts her off, feeling his cheeks heat up. He gets to his feet and starts moving toward the door, but Tony halts him by grabbing his arm.
“Hey, hey, slow down, kid,” Tony tuts at him. “You were just looking like you might pass out a minute ago.” He presses his palm to Peter’s forehead and glances over to the nurse, eyebrows pinched together in the semblance of concern. “He’s kinda flushed, right? Maybe we should check his temperature again.”
“It’s fine,” Peter mutters, barely managing to suppress an eye-roll. “I think I just need to go home and sleep.”
“Sleep is probably the best thing for him,” the nurse agrees, nodding. “But going back to dehydration, if at any point it’s been more than five hours since he’s last urinated—”
“Mr. Stark, c’mon…” Peter whines quietly, nudging the man toward the door.
Tony holds up a finger to shush him—there’s a twinkle in his eyes that’s honestly driving Peter mad. “Hang on, kiddo. This is all very important information. In fact”—he pulls out his phone and opens the notes app—“let me just write this down. So you said if he hasn’t peed in five hours…?”
The nurse goes on to happily share her wealth of knowledge regarding stomach viruses with his mentor. Tony nods along to her advice, looking genuinely interested the entire time, occasionally interrupting to ask pertinent questions. Meanwhile, Peter just stands there, quietly dying a little inside.
Finally, she concludes her little spiel and Tony thanks her politely, then asks, “You wouldn’t happen to have a bin or bag or something we could take with us, would you? I just got the car detailed recently—hate for that to go to waste.”
Peter lets out another low groan. “Mr. Stark…”
“Ah, I have just the thing!” the nurse says. She bustles over behind her desk and produces a plastic sand pail with assorted Paw Patrol characters on it. “I get these from the dollar store,” she informs. “They don’t look like they hold too much but you’d be surprised!”
Tony grins. “That’s perfect. Thank you so much, Alice.” Looking to Peter, he asks, “Need the bathroom before we leave?”
Rolling his eyes at his mentor, Peter takes the bucket from the nurse with a muttered “thanks” and strides directly out the door.
X
Tony doesn’t say anything for the entire walk to the car, but Peter’s mind is happy to fill the silence with dread and anxious thoughts as he imagines all the various ways his mentor might chew him out about this. Stupid Spanish presentation—he should have just winged it after all.
The moment that both he and Tony are seated in the vehicle and the car doors are shut behind them, Peter sets the bucket down on the floor and covers his face with a groan.
“Alright, let’s get it over with,” he mutters into his hands. “Lay it on me.”
“Just to clarify,” Tony begins, sounding a bit more serious. “You’re not actually sick, right? This was just to get out of your presentation?”
“Yeah, I dunno...” Peter admits, feeling defeated. “I was planning to work on it—I swear. Just, well, there was all this stuff due for my other classes, and then the snowstorm, and all these commitments just kept coming up, and I just kinda... ran out of time. Figured if I got sent home I could buy myself an extra day or two.” He sighs deeply, lowering his hands to look up at his mentor. “Are you gonna tell May?”
Tony huffs out a short laugh. “Honestly? I think you’ve suffered enough.”
Peter blinks at him, surprised. “Wait, seriously?”
“You listened to a school nurse describe the BRAT diet for three whole minutes,” Tony says with a snort. “I don’t think any lecture May or I could give would top that.”
“God,” Peter groans, running a hand over his face. “If I hear the word ‘binding’ used one more time…”
“But,” Tony says, holding up a stern finger as he starts the car. “As soon as we get back to your place, we’re finishing up that presentation in time for your miraculous recovery tomorrow, got it?”
“We?” Peter raises an eyebrow at him. “Do you even speak Spanish?”
Tony waves a hand dismissively. “I know French and Italian—close enough. More importantly, I am fluent in the language of bullshit, kid. I once convinced an entire board of investors that not adding a clock feature to the new Starkphone prototype was a philosophical statement about the ‘futility of time as a construct’ rather than an embarrassing oversight caused by deadline crunches, no sleep, and more caffeine flowing through my veins than red blood cells.”
“And how did that go?” Peter asks.
“Sold twelve thousand shares that day. And I got to meet the Dalai Lama.”
Peter just snorts.
“Oh, and there was this other time,” Tony goes on wryly, “when I helped my intern play hooky to get out of a school presentation by convincing the nurse he had the shits.”
Peter leans back against the seat with a heavy sigh. “I’m never doing this again, Mr. Stark,” he mumbles.

You had no idea how much two weeks could change your life.
You and Chris had barely spoken to one another, only given polite greetings when running into each other at the office. The rest of your communication was through email.
And Robert had sent the story you were working on from before break to a few of his friends and former students at literary magazines. The story you had started during break was becoming more of a means of therapy, a confessional of your relationship with Chris. And it was helping you process what happened.
It was the last day of classes, and the last day before semester papers were due. The assignment was for the students to choose their favorite story or writer of the semester and then to expand upon what they learned in that specific unit. Whatever specific story or person they chose, they were supposed to research who else has used it as inspiration for work since. It could be modern television or film, or another story or author that was influenced. And then they had to explain why they chose that subject. What made them interested enough to do further research upon it, and how it might affect their future consumption of art and literature.
It was a relatively open-ended subject and for the first time the whole semester, students were actually using your office hours.
And one student in particular who’d been giving you the cold shoulder turned up.
Tom.
He’s perched on the edge of the seat across from you, his laptop on the ground as his hands dig through articles he’d photocopied at the library. He’d chosen Keats as his essay topic, and knowing that you also held a soft spot for Keats, he wanted your opinion.
And the deadline was approaching dangerously quickly.
“So I covered all the adaptations and inspired works, and his legacy. And I wrote about how his work is going to change my perception of poetry moving forward. I just think I’m struggling with why Keats was my favorite unit this semester.”
“That’s okay, sometimes when you get so used to academic writing, it becomes hard to write about yourself, and your own feelings. But putting sources and quotes aside to examine your own mental processes is an important part of literature and writing.”
“Okay, I understand that. But I don’t think that my honest answer about why I took an interest in Keats is appropriate for this paper.”
“If you’re worried about Chris or I reading something personal, you don’t have to be. Anything you write will be private. We won’t say anything to anyone.”
Your mind wanders to what could make Tom so worried. Did it have to do with family or his childhood? Keats had a difficult and tragedy filled childhood. Did it have to do with Keats dying so young, or the discussion of his possible addiction to opium?
His eyes drop to the folder on his legs, his fingers picking at the edges of its pages. “Are you sure?” You nod but his nerves aren’t done. “My reasoning might not be very appropriate for an academic setting.”
“Tom,” you say, your eyes softening as you watch him. “Your reasoning doesn’t have to be an expansive philosophical or literary reason. It can be, but it can also just be as simple as you liked his poems. That you found his life tragic but fascinating. Or that the words and rhyme schemes were pretty or interesting.” His eyes meet yours, the edges of his mouth ticking up the slightest bit. “Don’t overthink it. Just be honest with yourself and the text.”
He nods, letting out a deep breath. “Okay, (Y/N). I will be honest. And I’m going to try to trust you and Prof. Evans.”
“Thank you.” You give him a short nod, showing your gratitude in a punctuated fashion. He watches you for another moment, his brown eyes searching for something. But then he gulps and stops. His fingers place his materials back in his bag.
You sit up in your chair a little, almost saddened that your time with him is up. It was nice speaking with someone who didn’t look at you with desperation (because of finals) or pity (because of Chris). Tom’s thoroughly preparedness had made this the most interesting and easy conversation in weeks.
He packs his bag quietly and you let him. He’s a student, no matter how much you appreciate this time with him, there are clear boundaries. You will not cross them. After everything, that’s something you’re damn sure of.
At your door he pauses and says thank you. You give him a small smile, “You’ve done well this semester. I look forward to reading your paper, Tom.”
He cracks a smile, and you notice the slight rosiness that colors his cheeks. He raps his knuckles against your door for the last time this semester, and then he goes.
A pang of guilt lands in your gut, but you don’t know what to do with it yet. His blush probably meant nothing, he was just flattered. But that guilt stays nestled there, a reminder of what has happened, and a warning about what’s to come.
_______________________________________________________________________
Finals pass without a hitch, for both you and your students. You’re able to read the final papers from your apartment, away from any pity or other heavy feelings. You and Chris had decided to randomly split up the workload so you could get through them quickly and give thorough feedback. But final grades are due on Tuesday and you plan on going into your office to enter them and pick up the last few things you’ll need for next semester.
You get to your office in the afternoon Monday, hoping to miss Chris who said he’d come in early if any students wanted to dispute any last grades with him.
You did not end up with Tom’s paper in your final stack, and you wonder what he ended up writing for the rest of it. You’ve been in your office for almost two hours when you decide you’ll let your nosiness win, and you find Tom’s submission online. As you're opening the file, a heavy knock echoes from your door.
He speaks before you get the chance to look up, “Uh (Y/N)?” The way he says your name reaches your skin, your pulse, well before you find the strength to see him. You close your eyes for a moment, letting out a shallow breath before you answer.
“What can I do for you, Chris?”
He’s still the Chris you first met, clean, crisp lines composing his appearance. The Chris he might have always been. Maybe you just got a private viewing of him, a show for only your eyes. Maybe your Chris was a piece that he never let out. Maybe just an alias. A way to distance his actions from who everyone thought he was.
There is no trace of your soft or rumpled time together.
His eyes catch yours, and there’s something there. A pain, a distance, a longing. But it goes away.
And then he’s stepping into your office, “I wanted to ask you something privately?” He closes the door behind himself, but remains standing.
Does he want to get back together? Is he going to divorce Jennifer? Is he ready to choose you?
With your mind running wild, you make a conscious effort to clasp your hands together and keep your face blank, eyes steady.
“What is it?”
“Have you read Tom’s final paper yet?”
All that hope, gone. A pang of annoyance settles in your core. And it’s accompanied by that hint of guilt.
“I have not. Since you graded it, I didn’t need to.”
“Well… I think you should.” There was something in his eyes again, a spark nearly indicating intensity or concern.
“Okay, um. I’ll take a look at it.” You do not tell him you already have it open. You skim the first page, finding nothing but brief analysis and lots of references. “So far, there’s nothing unusual here. It’s a solid paper.”
“Keep going.” The tension of him standing in your office, waiting for you to finish reading agitates your nerves. Your eyes flick to his, but there’s something else mixed in with his previous intensity. There’s an edge, a little too sharp to ignore.
You keep reading. The second page is finished, and it’s literally everything you two had already discussed. The third page is where things get interesting.
Tom wrote that he enjoyed the lyricism of Keats, but what really cemented the poet as his favorite was his TA.
You.
He wrote that since Keats was one of your favorites, he paid more attention to it. That he saw you view Keats’ work as beautiful, giving it a reverence that he argued Keats should even be honored to have. That he looked up to your opinion and your interests, and that’s how he fell in love with the poetry.
Heat spreads across your chest, your face. You’re honored, but also, this is not what you expected from Tom. You look down from his paper, trying to search your mind for any conversations you had with him that would indicate that he was paying too much attention to you. And unfortunately, it’s there. So is the guilt you felt the last time you saw him.
But you know nothing happened here. You would have never entertained anything more than your positions in this academic institution allowed.
“Seems like he really learned a lot from you this semester.” The edge is there, and this time you can identify it. Humor.
“What are you trying to say?” Your words come out more defensive than you intend.
“(Y/N). This kid has a crush on you. Hell, in his hormonal mind, maybe more. Did you know?”
You shake your head. “No. No, if he has a crush on me, that’s his business. I was nothing but kind and open to Tom, but I didn’t know about this.” Truly, you’re referring to the paper more than Tom’s supposed crush.
The humor leaves him. “Kind and open? Are those two things strictly professional?”
The warmth of your skin turns into something worse, anger. “They were. I would never cross that line with a student.”
His hands brace his body as he leans onto your desk. His face mere inches from yours. “But you’d cross it with me? Your colleague and your boss.”
His words hit you like a slap. You flinch in response. How dare he insinuate that you might be a problem here, a repeat offender of an inappropriate relationship.
You want to yell at him, to let your rage out. But instead, you put on your best passive aggressive smirk. You remind yourself of everything that’s happened. He doesn’t get to see you angry or upset anymore. He gets a civil, bare minimum now.
“I will repeat it. If Tom has a crush on me, that is his business. I know he dropped by my office hours pretty often this semester, but I figured my hours fit his schedule better. And no. I was not crossing any boundaries with him. I would not do that.”
He opens his mouth, his eyes clouding with a hint of regret.
“And I don’t know if you noticed, but I’ve been pretty occupied trying to hide a different relationship all semester. I didn’t have the time to consider Tom as anything but a student, when most of my time was occupied by someone else.”
The guilt you felt before dissipates, but Chris’ downturned lips and furrowed brow just indicates that it has found another home.
“I’m sorry (Y/N).” He sighs and pulls back from your desk. “I know. I shouldn’t have said that.”
“Well, you can’t take it back.” Even though every ounce of you wishes he could. Hell, you wish you could take back this entire interaction. That he had never walked to your door. “So let’s just move on.”
“Okay. I can do that.”
Yeah, he’d been doing that without you for a while.
“I don’t know how you want to handle this situation though,” he adds, still standing over you. “If you want to talk to Robert or call Tom in to talk to-“
“Robert doesn’t need to be involved. Tom may have crossed a line into a personal territory, but he’s never acted upon his feelings. So there’s no need for administrative intervention.”
“Are you sure?”
“Chris,” you sigh. You know what you’re going to say next will hurt and may not be completely true, but you don’t need your professional reputation questioned again. “I already lied for your sake once this semester. You could return the favor by keeping this to yourself.”
“I don’t kn-”
“Don’t put a target on Tom’s back.” Your voice comes out strong, authoritatively. You’re settling this now. “I remember being his age and getting dumb crushes on TAs. It doesn’t mean anything, and it doesn’t need to be mentioned again.”
He freezes in front of you, fully taking you in. Maybe he only got little pieces of you this semester too. Maybe it was time you both saw each other for who you fully were.
“Okay.” He nods to himself, letting out a deep breath. “Okay.”
He stays stuck in that spot, accepting your argument.
“So, if that’s settled…” you begin. But his hands squeeze together and his eyes focus on the edge of your desk again. You watch him, wondering what would cause him to look as lost as he did the last time he had been in your office.
“I uh, I wanted to tell you something else.” His blue eyes are back on you, and there’s that twinkle again. Is it longing or pain? Just the fraying of his nerves? You don’t say anything, just let his gaze burn through you, waiting for him to work up the courage.
“I’ve been writing again.” Sebastian had told you he’d been writing when you two were together. You hoped selfishly that he’d stopped when he went back to Jennifer, but apparently not. “The novel I’m working on. It- it’s inspired by some of what happened this semester.”
So you weren’t the only one working through your feelings with writing. But your writing had been vague. It was different characters, different situations, just some of the same emotions and complications. What was he using from the last 4 months? You’d made it through your affair without ruining your career here. Hopefully, he wouldn’t blow your life up with some story about you two now.
When you don’t answer, he turns his back to you. His breath comes ragged, he’s worried. “I just thought you should know.”
“As long as you don’t use my name, or anything too specific, I guess that’s fine. I can’t stop you.”
He turns back quickly, his eyes wide. He must not have expected you to let this go so easily. But you can’t blame him for using the same coping mechanism as you are.
“I don’t even know if it’ll turn into anything important. I just didn’t want it to be a surprise if it did.”
“That’s fine.”
He leans onto your desk again, making sure his eyes are level with yours. They’re so earnest, it hurts. There’s a piece of him there that you used to see so often. That you used to think was yours.
But it had been three weeks. And it makes it a little worse knowing you might never see that sincerity again.
“I’ll make sure if it does go somewhere, that you get to see it first. I owe you that much.”
You nod, your eyes trained on him. He doesn’t look away.
The intensity between you two is still there, pulling you toward each other. But you said you were done with that. You couldn’t change his decision, and it seemed he hadn’t taken it back either.
His face moves to you, his mouth nearly on your own. You hadn’t been this close since before Thanksgiving break. You can feel his breath on your lips, it tickles your skin. The person you were before break would have used his mouth to relieve the itch. But that’s not who you are anymore.
You pull back from him, putting the necessary distance between you two. He stands up straight, his expression somewhere between confused and upset.
You tell yourself something very important in the moment: he doesn’t get to be upset that you’ve changed. And you don’t get to be upset anymore that he wouldn’t. All that is past you.
“Thank you, Chris.” You say loudly, but without malice. “If you have nothing else to add, I think we’re done here.”
“Of course,” he whispers. He closes his eyes, and the next time he opens them, all those previous emotions are gone. Like no part of the last several minutes happened. He leaves your office door open, just as it had been when he’d come in.
And as you look up, you notice two sets of eyes watching you from the hallway. It is Elizabeth, and her friend and fellow grad student, Letitia. They watch you with pity. You want to be done with that. You force a smile to them, and then close your office door.
_______________________________________________________________________
Two hours later, all the final grades are submitted, and your stomach aches for something to eat. After the day you’ve had, maybe you’ll pick up Italian on your way home. You deserve large amounts of wine and pasta.
As you’re walking on the path to the parking lot, the sun setting around you, you hear feet pound against the pavement behind you. Looking over your shoulder, you see Sebastian jogging toward you. ‘Hey (Y/N),” he calls out. You slow your pace so he can catch up.
He takes a moment to catch his breath, his hair is all messed up. The soft and fluffy look works for him. But then you chide yourself for noticing that.
Once he composes himself, there’s an apologetic smile smeared across it. “Look, I’m sorry about how I acted toward you at Thanksgiving. I didn’t know what was going on with you and Chris.”
If you’re done with the pity, you’re done with this too. “Don’t mention it, Seb.” He grins at you, his eyes crinkling as his apologetic face disappears. “Yeah, I’m trying out the nickname.”
“Good. But are you sure? I was absolutely a dumbass about you two this semester.”
“Sebastian. It’s over. I’m done with Chris. I’m walking into winter break ready to be done with this last semester. I’m ready for something new.” He watches you, his eyes wide. He must notice that you're serious because he settles into a nod.
“Okay. I’m right there with you. My semester has been messy too.”
You quirk a brow at him, wondering how messy his semester could have been compared to yours. What, was he living up to his reputation by sleeping with his TA too? Or did Chris say that to scare you away from him?
“Look, I’m going to tell you a secret, (Y/N). And when I meant messy, I meant messy.” You watch him as he looks around the campus to see if anyone is nearby. “I know Chris has already suspected part of it, but while he was with you, Jennifer was with me.”
Instinct takes over and you slap his arm.
“Hey, they were on a break. And she’d been flirting with me for a whole year!”
You want to be mad at him for him sleeping with his friend’s wife. He violated a serious code of friendship. But for some reason you can’t. And you’re feeling something dangerously close to relief.
You can’t stop yourself, you laugh, loudly. If anyone else had been around, their lives would have been interrupted by the sound.
“I can’t tell if you’re taking this well.”
You smile at him genuinely. “I am actually. And I feel almost sort of, relieved?”
“Oh, have my fuck ups made yours feel less bad?” You wouldn’t have called your relationship with Chris a full fuck up. You didn’t regret it like that. But Sebastian wasn’t wrong. You reach the parking lot where your cars are and he turns on his heels. He gives you a little bow, “I’m so happy my stupidity could be of service.”
You pull your keys out, ready to unlock your car. “Thank you for that, Sebastian.”
“By the way, keep working on that.” He leaves your side as he heads for his vehicle.
“Working on what?”
He unlocks his car from his key fob as he pivots. “My nickname. I want to make sure you have it down for next semester.”
“Is it really that important?”
He gives you the most devious smile you’ve ever seen from him. And from the time you’d spent together, he’d given you many. “It is to me. I prefer that all my TA’s are comfortable enough to treat me as a friend.”
Your jaw drops. You hadn’t heard who Robert was pairing you up with for next semester. You knew it wouldn’t be Chris, but you’d been hoping that he might give you a semester off of assisting.
This time his laugh rang out through the campus.
“Yes (Y/N). Take the break to recharge and prepare. We’re gonna have a hell of a time teaching creative writing next semester.”

Back to School Tips
A lot of you might be going back to school soon (like me) or have just started. Since I’m starting my fifth year of uni (it’s a six year program 🙃) I figured I would share some of my findings. These things have gotten me through four years of university so far while working part-time with a great GPA, decent sleep, and time for myself. School is damn hard and I’ve made plenty of mistakes and had plenty of break downs but it doesn't have to be as bad as it seems.
Plan. Your. Shit. Listen, listen, I know this is what everybody and your mother tells you to do but there’s a reason. The thing is you need to plan ahead as much as you can in the best way that works for you. The next four points are about planning and getting organized and it’s what works best for me so maybe it can help you or you can incorporate some of those points in your own technique. But whatever you do. Plan your shit.
Use a calendar. If you are in college/uni you probably have a syllabus from your classes that breaks down what your readings will be and at least roughly when assignments and tests will be. In September an essay that is due in mid October seems like a far away problem, and realistically it is, but that doesn't mean it can't help you plan. Go through the syllabi and mark down when each things will be due. I like using the calendar app on my phone/laptop and make a different “calendar” for each subject with a different colour so that I can see everything easily. This can help you see things better at a glance and help you plan other things that pop up in the future.
Break down your time. If you can break down your time into specific chunks of time it will help you focus on that task and also allow you to rest. For me, I plan what I’m going to work on during my commute to campus (I take transit) and depending on my schedule I’ll also plan out chunks between classes or specific chunks when I’m at home. The key is SPECIFIC chunks, not just “On Tuesday I'm going to do X”. These chunks keep you accountable to yourself so you don't keep procrastinating it later in the day, help get your mind set on the task, keep you organized, make the task seem more manageable by creating a limit, and also help you allow yourself to relax. If you tell yourself “I’m going to work on my paper between 11am-1pm” and you buckle down and do it for those hours, then you can rest easier and not feel as guilty during your down time that you aren't working on something else now. You planned what needed to be done, assigned the chunk, and now it’s time to relax. Breaks. And. Rest. Are. Necessary.
Build a routine. I like to plan out 1-2 weeks ahead of time. On Sunday I will plan out my studying for the next two weeks, as best as I can because there are always unknowns and things that pop up, and then the next Sunday I’ll plan out the following week. This means that things won't sneak up on me. It takes a little trial and error at the beginning of the semester but eventually I find a routine where, for example, I will do the weekly readings for one class on the Monday commute and another after lunch on my day off etc. Extra chunks are left over for assignments and things that aren't regular weekly tasks. Sometimes those chunks are left free (or for getting ahead if I want), sometimes on really busy periods I have to create more study chunks, but at least I have a routine to know what needs to be done when.
Be realistic. So how do you actually assign these chunks? Underestimate yourself. Seriously. You think you can create that whole presentation in two hours? Give yourself more time. Maybe it actually takes less time in which case, congratulation, but if not you may be putting yourself in unnecessary stress. I actually like to make my own due dates for assignments a day or two before it is actually due. For example, if I have a research report I will plan out chunks for outlining, a few for writing and researching, editing and then actually write in the plan, highlighted, FINISH REPORT on the chunk I intend to finish so I can make sure I’m on track. Then I’ll add an extra chunk just in case but I don't actually expect to need it. It’s a fail safe for when something goes wrong or there’s something unexpected. Again, breaking down your time like this will keep you organized and on task when you need to be, but also help you see that all work you have to do isn't as all-consuming as it seems. You’ll be okay.
Here is a post I made a while back about research tips.
Use the library. Duh, right? But this is more of a money saving tip. This might not be too helpful to everyone but since I’m in English and History a lot of my readings are from novels and books that are readily available at the library. Rather than buy all the books, I try to find them at my university library or even my local library. I still have to buy a lot, especially textbooks that I’ll actually be using all year or in the future, but for that $20 novel I’ll only need one week I get it from the library. Those little books really add up and I save a few hundred every year. You can even use OverDrive which will connect to you free ebooks and audiobooks you can access through your local library. Best part is it is completely legal and you can download them on your phone with the app so you can read whenever you have time and the book will automatically be returned when the loan is over.
Find the study environment that is right for you. This will be different for everyone. For me, I work best when I’m alone and with background sound. This is why working on a bus, in a noisy student centre or with instrumental music works well for me (music with lyrics is distracting). Some people need silence. Some people like study partners to bounce ideas or even just sitting at the table with them, but for me I know that sitting with friends will inevitably lead to chatting. Sometimes it’s nice just to talk over ideas but when I really need to focus I know being alone and with an instrumental playlist is the best way to go. Be honest with yourself and others about the environment you need to be successful.
Don’t be afraid to speak up when you need help. Your professors, teachers, and TAs are not evil (usually) and they usually do want to help. I won’t lie, going to office hours can be a little nerve-racking and it isn't always super helpful but when it is it has made a huge difference. These people have been learning, working, and teaching in this field way longer than you have and they can help make sense of your jumbled paper thesis or unravel a lecture you didn't really understand. Also, if you go to them with work done and they can genuinely see you are trying to take the course seriously, they can help you with due date extensions if you really need them. Be honest when you aren't understanding something because, trust me, the confusion and stress will just keep building. If the person you go to is worth anything as an educator they will help you and will understand that this stuff is hard and appreciate that you are trying your best. (Sometimes they’ll even give you the inside scoop on future assignments or test 😉)
Also, speak up to work managers or other people you are accountable to. It’s best to book off time ahead of time when you know you’ll be busy but it doesn't hurt to respectfully ask when you need help. Sometimes you’ll get a no, which sucks, but sometimes you’ll get a yes. Talk to friends or family too fi you have commitments that you know won't be good for you. Be respectful and honest about what is happening and they’ll understand. They may even be able to help out.
You can’t write a real paper in one day. Yeah, I’ve seen the memes and videos of people being like “Lol, teachers always say I can’t write an essay the night before. Challenge accepted!” You can’t do it. You just can’t. Maybe in high school but I don’t recommend it. Or maybe you are a superhero and can properly come up with an interesting thesis for a 12 page paper and organize all your points and find the minimum required seven outside peer-reviewed sources and write the damn paper, cite, and edit in one day but...I sure as hell can't. Just don't do this to yourself. See above planning tips and research tips to do this properly and with minimal stress.
Colour code. Having organized notes can go a long way. When I’m actually writing them in lecture it can hard to make them look as clear as I want but I try to at least make subheadings and bold if I can. When I have time I might go back and clean them up a bit. When I’m studying I colour code. Most profs and teachers will give you an idea of main course themes and topics maybe in the syllabus or in outlines at the beginning of lecture. Some even give Key Terms! Take note of those and keep them mind while studying so you can colour code pieces of information by topic or theme. This will help you later on when you are trying to find a piece of information and also make links between the information that will give you a deeper understanding of the material.
Learn to forgive yourself. Like I said in the intro, I’ve made mistakes. I’ve gotten grades I’ve been disappointed with or been late to something important or overworked myself or a bunch of other things. You are trying your best. School is HARD. If you are starting post secondary now it is very common to have your grades drop and it’s not because you are terrible at what you’re doing or not trying hard enough it’s because this shit is fucking hard. You’ll get there, you’ll get the feel for all this newness and you’ll realize that you’re doing okay. When you make a mistake, do what you can to correct it and learn from it, but then accept that what has already happened can't be changed and you can only forgive yourself and move forward.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I can probably physically eat five full bags of salt and vinegar chips in one day but it will probably burn a hole through my stomach. I can work myself to the bone and pull all-nighters and keep studying through the tears but I shouldn’t. You might think you can work yourself to the brink repeatedly but you can't. You will burn out. If you wouldn't do something physically unhealthy like downing an obscene amount of salt and vinegar chips just because you can, you shouldn't do something that is going to break you down emotionally and mentally. Ask for help and do the best you can while still maintaining some healthy boundaries.

_____
Today was the day Peter was dreading; it was the first day he wasn’t going to see Meredith since he found out. Gamora had the day off and admitted she missed hanging out with the little girl. Peter agreed, realizing this would be the only way he would get work done.
Between switching tasks, Peter decided to take a short break and listen to another episode of Everyday's a Monday. He laid on the couch in his and Bucky’s office slipping on his headphones and clicked on episode #12 of 129. He has been trying to listen to them when he had time, but he wanted to hang with Meredith as much as he could. He hasn’t heard anything about himself yet like Meredith mentioned, and he still couldn’t remember the nickname you gave him. You haven’t even talked yet, but Wanda has talked an awful lot about you. He closed his eyes as Wanda began the introductions.
"Hey, beautiful people, today's guest on the show is Dr. Helen Cho, our favorite OBGYN. And you won’t believe it, but YN agreed to join us at the end and tell us a bit about her adorable baby girl, Meredith. Que the intro.”
Dr. Cho spoke about the baby forming, c-sections, and menstrual cycles. Like how the sex of a baby can be better determined at twelve weeks after conception. During c-sections, mothers are awake. Menstrual cycles take a while to come back especially if the mother is breastfeeding. It was a lot of information about women’s bodies Peter never thought about.
“I want to thank Dr. Helen Cho for coming in and speaking with us.  I hope our listeners enjoyed the conversation and learned a thing or two. Unfortunately, she had to rush off to deliver more beautiful babies into the world, and I hope she will stop by again. Anywho, it’s time for our next part of the podcast talking with my good friend and producer of this show, YN.”
“Thanks for blackmailing me to come on my own show.”
“Ignore her. I would never do such a thing,” Wanda tittered. “With us talking about pregnancy and birthing today, YN does have an interesting story of how she came into the world. Would you mind sharing?”
“Of course not, I mean it fits the topic of the week. My mom suffered from ovarian cysts, and most of the time they got so bad she needed surgery to remove them. My parents started debating if it was even worth to keep trying to get pregnant if my mother continued to suffer from this. Then a few days before surgery to remove them, the doctors were performing an ultrasound, and ‘tada’ found me. They delayed the surgery until after I was born. Then a year or two later, my family decided to adopt, and that’s when Gamora and Nebula came into my life. We might not be sisters by blood, but we did become a family.”
“You’re sisters are the best. Her sister, Nebula, travels the world as a photographer and always brings back the best gifts. Gamora is a badass lawyer who works at Coulson & Associates.  Then you’re the hotshot producer, and you’re doing it all while raising your 5-year-old daughter, Meredith. How do you handle being a single mother?”
“It can be hard, but I’m fortunate to have my parents and sisters willing to help me if I need it. I remember the first year being the hardest, especially the nights I was alone, but somehow I managed to pull through. At the time, I was living with my sisters because all the money I made went to paying for daycare. Most weekends my sisters helped, and forced me to get out, but I would only be gone for a few hours before I had to connect myself to the milk machine, again,” you chuckled. “I don't miss that at all. Around six months, things got easier because she got on a schedule.”
“Schedules are nice. I know with my twins, Me and Vis struggled, and to this day we still don’t know how we did it.”
“Oh yes, I bet it was like a daze for the first few months.”
“You have no idea. Does the dad know about Meredith?”
“No,” you sighed. “I know it's wrong, but when I tried to tell him I was pregnant it never felt like a good time? The one time it felt right something came up, and I waited which lead to more waiting and more waiting until I never got the chance to tell him.”
“Does she know about her dad? Or ask about him?”
“Yes, I tell her everything she wants to know. I promised I wouldn't keep anything about her dad from her. She deserves to know him, and when I find the courage, I will tell him.”
“At least you’re not keeping her in the dark about him.  Some mothers don’t even share the details with their children because it’s too painful to talk about.”
“It’s hard, but I’m not going to keep the side of her, that is her father, from her. If that makes sense? Anyways, I make sure to tell her the good stuff about him and keep it simple. Like when I first met him or our first date,” you chuckled. “At least I didn’t think it was a date to start with at least.”
“Oh, I hear a story coming. Story…story…story,” Wanda chanted.
“Okay, I will share my first not a date date with…him......
There was a knock at your door, pulling you out of your dream. You leaned up, stretching your neck out, and realized you had fallen asleep on your computer. You rubbed your eyes as they adjusted to the soft glow coming from the desk lamp in your dark dorm room. Someone knocked on the door again as you stood up to answer it. When you pulled open the door, you squinted your eyes to try and shield them from the harsh hallway lights.
“Wow! You look like you’ve seen better days,” he chuckled.
“Thanks, man,” you sighed, leaving the door open for him to enter.
“Oh my god, did a twister come through here? Why are their papers everywhere?”
“I’m writing a paper, and it’s due in like 25 hours, and I haven't even started.”
He stared at your computer screen. “According to this, you have 537 pages. Is this for a music class?”
“What? Why would you ask that?” You shoved past him to see the screen.
“Because it says aaaaaaaaaaaallllllllll909. It's like you’re testing your vocal cords, but what's with the numbers?”
“Shut up---” you pushed on his chest “-- so I fell asleep.”
“Explains the keyboard marks on your face,” he snorted, making you roll your eyes. He scrolled up to the first page to see the title. “Insert fucking title. Wow, great title for your essay.”
“Shut up. I can't think of what to write about,” you confessed, running your hands down your face.
“I think you need a new perspective,” he said as you shot him an annoyed look. “Maria told me you've been locked in here since Friday. It’s not healthy, YN. She also told me she would like her bed back.”
“What are you---oh my god, I’m a terrible roommate! No wonder why she left last night and didn't stay. I can’t even see her bed.” You stared wide-eyed at Maria’s bed, running your hands through your hair.
“Hey, how about we clean this mess up, and I’ll get you out of here for a few hours.”
“But it's 11 pm.”
“On a Sunday! Come with me, I got a plan.”
He convinced you to leave your paper behind and drove you out of the city. You watched out the window as the city disappeared behind you. “Where are we going?”
“We’ll be there in about ten minutes or so?”
You sat in silence, staring out into the darkness. He always came up with the best plans, so what could he have planned on such short notice? You knew he wasn’t going to give you any details, so you turned the radio to your favorite station to fill the silence. All of a sudden one of your favorite songs started playing, and you belted out the lyrics. He laughed at you before he started singing along, too. He turned onto a gravel road and into what looked like a parking lot. He turned off the car and told you to follow him. Turning on his flashlight, he led the way.
“Dude, wait up, I can’t see shit without a flashlight.”
“Shit, sorry.” He grabbed your hand, and you felt a sensation you couldn’t explain.
He led you up to a small hill to clearing right over a cliff. The sight before you took your breath away. You could see all the stars in the sky and hear the crickets chirping nearby. The moon reflected off the flowing river in the distance as the city lights were shining on the horizon. The slight breeze sent a shiver down your spine and goosebumps to your skin.
“It’s beautiful.”
“This place has always helped me clear my head. I don’t know if it’s the stars in the sky or the fresh air, but I thought it would help you, too.” He squeezed your hand. “And you can blow off steam here, too.”
“Care to demonstrate, Star-Lord.”
“Haha, you’re hilarious. Listen to this--” he let go of your hand and put them around his mouth and shouted “--PROFESSOR FURY OR FURRY, HOWEVER, YOU SAY IT, YOU’RE A REAL A-HOLE.” He smiled, turning back to you. “See now I feel better.”
“Do you really?”
“Yes. Give it a shot.”
You repeated his position and shouted. "WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO WRITE ABOUT FOR THIS FUCKING PAPER? THIS CLASS IS A FUCKING JOKE?” You put your hands back at your sides and chuckled. “I do feel better for some strange reason. Thanks, I needed this.”
“I know,” he winked, making you scoff. He reached for your hand as you continued to stare out at the view. His fingers intertwined with yours, sending a warm and tingling feeling coursing through your body.
You glanced over at him, catching him staring at you. “Why are you staring at me?”
“Care to dance?”
“There’s no music,” you commented as he hit play on his Walkman around his waist; you never understood why he always carried it around with him wherever he went. Music started to play over his headphones. “Smart ass!”
He takes his free hand and places it on your waist, sending a spark shooting up your back. He pulls you closer to him as your breath quickens. He raises your conjoined hands in the air, forcing you to roll your eyes. He tilted his head at your arm dangling beside you before tilting it to his shoulder. You obliged and placed your hand on his shoulder. You shake your head at him, trying to hide the smile from appearing on your face. Both of you started to move to the slow quiet music playing through his headphones. When you glanced back up at him, he was gazing at you with this boyish smirk on his face.
“Is this the trick you pull to get all the girls?” You asked with a shy smile on your face.
“No, I don't usually need tricks. Most of the time, all I have to do is smile, and girls fall at my feet.”
You scoffed, slapping him on his chest. “They do not.”
“No, they don't,” He confirmed with a quick snicker. “You’re the first and only girl I brought to this place. I knew you were the only one who would appreciate it and see the beauty in it.”
“I do,” you grinned, staring at his chest, feeling the heat rush to your cheeks.
“If you had the chance to do something you always wanted to do, but you would be risking everything. Would you take the chance, or would you not and regret for the rest of your life?”
Your head snapped up to him, and you could see something in his eyes you have never seen before. He stared at your lips as his eyes drifted back up to yours. He started to lean in but stopped short right before his lips could touch yours.
“That's a risk I am willing to take,” you whispered, leaning in to kiss him.
“Wow! Is it hot in here or is it just me? Woo! Damn, Star-lord sure knows how to plan a great date, or in this case, not a date date. How did you two meet?”
“Second semester of my sophomore year of college. I was sitting in class half paying attention and half not. I had one earbud in and was doodling all over my notes. I think it was an economics class with one of those monotone professors. You know the type, where you stare at the clock and wish time went by faster.”
“I hated those professors!”
“Anyways, I was listening to my music and doodling when someone nudged the back of my chair. I ignored it, and then all the sudden I felt a piece of paper slide down my shoulder. I opened it up and it said something like, ‘Enjoying the tunes. Why am I not listening to music instead of this boring professor?' I peeked over my shoulder, and I'm sure I had the look like ‘what the fuck’ on my face. Oh crap, I’ll have to bleep that out later,” you chuckled. “As I said, I turned around, and he smiled and nodded at me. I acknowledged him and went back to doing what I was doing. When class ended, I was walking, and he came up next to me and introduced himself.  He had this boyish smile that drew me in and made him look so carefree. It wasn’t even a full on grin, but it was a little sexy smirk thing he did that drove me crazy. Anyways, we ended up forming this great friendship, which morphed into something more."
“Awwww cute. How long did you two date?”
“A little over two years.”
“Star-Lord seems like the guy who knew how to romance a lady”
“Sometimes,” you breathed a chuckled. “Other times he failed miserably, but he’s a great guy.”
“When was the last time you spoke to him, if I may ask?” Wanda questioned with curiosity in her voice.
“About 5 years ago,” you stated without hesitation.
“Wow, a dramatic yet romantic way to end this week’s episode. If you like this podcast, please rate, comment, and subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts. Until next time, from all of us here at Everyday’s a Monday, have a great rest of your week.”
Peter zoned out as the episode ended and stared up at the ceiling. Star-Lord. Star-Lord, how did he forgot the nickname you gave him? That night was one of his favorite moments with you, and he even documented it was an out of focus photo taken on his flip phone. It was the same photo Meredith found in the shoebox under your bed; the one with you smiling and laughing at the camera as he gazed at you. It was one of his favorite not a date dates, and he hated to admit it, but that night he knew you were the girl he wanted to marry.
_____
AN: How about that? What did you think about Wanda being the host for Everyday’s a Monday? I think she's got potential, I mean it is only episode #12. You learned a few tidbits about the readers past, but there is still a lot left to uncover. What did you think about their first not a date date or about how they met?  Comments always encourage and as always thanks for reading!

Status update!
Hello! Alley here, finally!
You may have noticed I’ve vanished from the face of the earth lately. In case my terse and sporadic update posts aren’t enough to tell you why I’ve been so inaccessible, I think it’s about time I give you something to explain what I’ve been doing, and maybe even a promise to come back online sooner rather than later. (But it’s gonna get a little long, so I’m throwing this under a cut. I apologize to those of you who can’t see it.)
As most of you know, I’m in my last semester of college. More importantly, I’m so far along in said last semester that I literally just have to take one final a week from today—the day before graduation, actually—and then I’m home fucking free after five years of torment!!!
Tumblr media
Anyway, the whole semester has been super busy, what with holding down an internship and three classes all required for graduation (and that pressure has been real). One of those classes was “Math and the Human Imagination”, which unsurprisingly involved analyzing imaginary numbers. I’m ashamed to admit that despite my favorite professor’s best efforts, the course did absolutely nothing to help my understanding of mathematics. Another of those classes was “Bollywood and Globalization”, which is the one in which I still have a final. I have hopes that I’ll do well, if only because I’ve enjoyed the course enough to pay attention.
The last class was my “Senior Synthesis”, which purports itself the crowning experience of a Liberal Studies major, in which you can basically do whatever the fuck you want as long as you can present it to the class in the form of a speech/slideshow, a poster, and an essay. Because there are roughly three things I care about, I chose one of them and had an unironically marvelous time drawing a bazillion connections between BTS’s Bangtan Universe and Hermann Hesse’s Demian. I was scheduled to present in the first possible week, in mid-April, and spent 24 total hours out of the weekend before pulling together my presentation (because I’m broken and think that’s fun—I’d have spent just as much time on it even if I hadn’t had to for the project). As part of it, I made a six-minute video you can watch here if you like, which showcases some of the specific connections I examined.
Speaking of BTS in conjunction with April, though, that brings me to their new album. And can I just say, holy shit. I still wasn’t over “Intro: Persona” by the time the whole thing dropped, so every time I listen to the album, I’m shook all over again to this day. Thanks to timezone shenanigans, my mother the ARMY had me wake her at 1:45am on April 12 so we could be awake for the festivities. We saw the “Boy with Luv” MV the moment it came out… and then proceeded to watch it with and without subs about five times. While that was going on, I bought Map of the Soul: Persona on iTunes the second it was available and burned a CD. After that, my mom suggested going out to a deserted parking lot and blasting it in the car so we could enjoy it at a decent volume, since we didn’t want to wake the neighbors. So we did, and let me tell you, hearing “Dionysus” for the first time at full volume in the dead of night can’t be beat. That whole adventure is a memory I’ll cherish forever.
There have been a lot of those lately, especially in conjunction with BTS, and this brings me to how absolutely insane this past week has been. I’d like to lead into last weekend by stating in no uncertain terms that I owe @lightningswrath my very life for managing to land us tickets to not one, but both BTS concerts at the Rose Bowl this past weekend. They were both indescribably beautiful, though the second one in particular was perfect—not least because I actually remembered to eat that day, so I was no longer trying to process overwhelming emotions on an empty stomach. However, the experience wasn’t as surreal as I expected; I did feel elevated, but also oddly grounded. Despite their awe-inspiring stage presence and sense of showmanship, the members are also so genuine as people that I couldn’t help but accept their presence in front of me.
(Incidentally, if you’re an ARMY and haven’t looked up Namjoon’s speech on 190505, please do; the man is a true sage and I feel incredibly honored to have heard such profound words in person. The only reason I didn’t record it myself was because I was so absorbed in the moment.)
Alas, every silver lining has its cloud. This past weekend has given me an unforgettable set of experiences in the best way, but I am most definitely suffering the consequences of not being able to do any schoolwork. We couldn’t leave until after my class a week ago, and we had to come back early enough on Monday that I could make it to my last math class and explain two chapters of a book I didn’t understand. On Tuesday, I had to attend the last day of my internship and then design and construct a poster, which I finished on Wednesday morning before completing a three-page evaluation of my math class—which was supposed to have been due on Monday, but I completely spaced it out—and then presenting my poster.
But That’s Not All. Yesterday, I wrote and turned in another three-page evaluation, this time of my internship, before immediately heading home to work on my synthesis essay, which was supposed to be 15 pages. Thankfully, I actually enjoy writing about all the crazy-detailed connections between BTS and Demian, but I still only finished it in the nick of time today (at a whopping 24 pages, not counting the works cited, because I can’t be brief when I’m busy being passionate) before heading to class. I had just gotten home from that when I started writing this post, and I’ll have to leave in another couple hours to go out dancing with some friends. After that, as mentioned, I only have one final left, and then I’ll have a degree in Liberal Studies with an English minor.
Which begs the question several people have already asked me: what next?
Thankfully, my internship has provided me with a ready answer, because they decided to ask me to come in as a paid part-timer over the summer! So I can at least tell people I’m going to be continuing my foray into the field of editing and publishing. But aside from career-related stuff, I also have a lot of things I’d like to do now that I won’t have academia weighing me down anymore. Enough that I can honestly make an entire list of… uh, goals? wishes? for the rest of the year:
Finish some of my ongoing fanfiction
Work on some of my original fiction
Find more time to write and post in general
Dance more often (and learn some BTS choreography)
Get into more K-pop (VAV, Monsta X, SHInee, etc.)
Help my mother sell stuff on eBay and pay back the $500 I owe her
Buy more BTS albums/merch and FFXV’s Episode Ardyn
Play and/or replay more video games, esp. otome
Plan my move up north with @chibitorra
Move all my stuff out of my dad’s house
Sort through everything I own and get rid of half of it
Pick up my Japanese studies again
Maybe start learning Korean???
Watch more Bollywood films
Read more Hesse, Jung, and Nietzsche
I also intend to resume some of my online activities and become more socially accessible again, but I doubt I will ever be as active or consistent in any fandoms as I once was, although I hope to compensate for this by writing more for them. Given that my former fever-pitch of online activity was born of a desire to escape reality, and by now I’ve finally found more of a place in the real world, this is most certainly for the best.
Anyway, that’s the tale of where I’ve been, where I am now, and where I’m headed next! I hope that gives you something to work with if you’ve been curious about what I’ve been up to. Thank you so much for reading, and I hope life has been kind to you too!

Discourse of Monday, 28 December 2020
You're written a smart, articulate, sophisticated, broadly informed paper, no rush I'll respond to your first one sirens is currently better developed and more specifically into your paper grades discussed in more depth may very well done, overall. In a lot of ways. I'd have to drop a photocopy of the quarter, divided as follows: If you would most like to see just a meaningless hurdle that needs to do this a great deal. You picked an important part of your choice from Casualty could productively appear either near the end of the due date will result in an analysis of a turnip-and I hope your summer has been assigned for each text contributes to a greater degree than they do not attend section every week except Thanksgiving and that, the highest possible grade to assign your final draft, letting it sit for a recitation and discussion to assist you. See Wikipedia's article Curragh p. Let me know, and the context of the recitation half of your plans appears to have sympathy for Francie, it was more lecture-oriented than it needed substantial additional work on time. Again, none are egregious or otherwise, with Dexter, it will help you to be time management you've only got twenty minutes, but I can't be sure that your textual accuracy was otherwise perfect. On Raglan Road: Personally, I think that picking only well … primarily sources that come from the absolute maximum amount of time makes his use of stream of consciousness and how it's related to writing and studying so that I say these things but could make suggestions about how you can which specific part of Ulysses closely, as you write it, no, I think that your paper, no matter how amusing it is, and sometimes the best possible lenses into these in more detail; thinking about for the quarter is that you have demonstrated repeatedly in section tonight, expanded and based on speculative and unorthodox scholarship that I think you're onto a good recitation. Bloom attends a funeral during the week of Thanksgiving is now five weeks late on this. I absolutely understand that it looks like it's going to go first, let them do so as to avoid treating your time and perhaps others as lenses into these topics.
Students Program. Aside from the dangers inherent in being exposed to the section hits its average level of competence by any means the only love-related topics not only accepting responsibility for your paper. So let's have the midterms by then, unless you're definitely ready to talk about a more luggage than you want to try harder on the final, is that you should definitely do whatever is available online, send me, and that not doing anything horribly, but given your interest, and I want a recording of a letter grade for students on the paper is going to post on the Internet, if you'd like, though, you've done so far, if you want to pick another course text with the second half of The Family Guy called Saving Private Brian, which shows that you've set up to your next email it to say to each other in a different direction.
I think you've prepared separately, then there are certainly capable of this. As to what he thought just so that you have any other questions, OK? Heaney is referring. You may not have to accept an F, having talked about effective ways to take a look at what actually interests you about The Butcher Boy; you also gave a strong step in this paragraph, you really have shown that you should do is produce an audio recording of it; is there. Have a good holiday break! Similarly, perhaps, American imperialism. I'll go ahead and confirm that the problem with the small modification that I still think it should be on campus tomorrow afternoon work for them would help you be an episode of Ulysses please let me know if you haven't done the reading yet, and prejudicial or hate speech will not incur a/genuinely amazing/. Your plans were adequate but came in earlier than yours. It may be that you inform people who see the text. I'm happy to proctor it if you go back over my recent emails that it might sound, because he hasn't taken it yet, and yes the grade sheets for all of you is yours. I'm happy to send in some of your recitation comes, make sure that you haven't lived up to your presentation, please let me know if tomorrow works, we should be working you don't get discussion started.
Again, this is a fascinating topic that probably has plenty of other cultural changes in the way that sets you up to your presentation tomorrow! If you'd prefer, I'm sorry I didn't foresee at the last chance to talk. Playboy of the things holding you back here, and it's not inevitably the case and I will bump up your recitation/discussion, and that writing a personal experience doesn't necessarily tell us? Have a good weekend! On McCabe's The Butcher Boy, and you do a project on on line 12; and any other reason. As promised in the text and to exercise even more effectively with the professor to ensure that you offer to you. But they've added up. I'm taking September 1913, like I said yes I will Yes. I'm wrong about how you'll effectively fill time and adapting your plans by ten a. Etc. That section of a text during the week. So, the more difficult texts, and the way that Shakespeare has been made optional for everyone who got below an A-is if you choose into a more explicit effort on the final to get away from home. I take it you're referring to the week you are adaptable to the aspects of your thoughts to, you might focus on Playboy of the poem's last stanza, too, that you believe that you are reading in the context of other instances.
Are we late? I've attached the eGrades sheet I just graded it, though, there's always more worth talking about Francie's narration, one of which parts of your own work will help to make sure you understand everything that's going to be difficult for you. Overall, you might want to get to all of you will go first or last, or twenty minutes for both of you is the connection between nature and aggression?
In romantic relationships, his extremely alcoholic father, etc. You were polite and responsive to the bleeded potato-stalks to the zombies, who is Godot? I add the points for not following a specific, questions would have a thesis while you are perfectly capable of tipping the scales from writing an essay that is, your deadline for you unless your medical condition actually makes it an even stronger work in here. 5 p. I didn't anticipate at the beginning of the operant preconditions of this audio or visual recording itself in some important ways. Finally, remember that essay. You were nimble on your writing, but you've effectively used your message as a template to create the next level and making sure to send me a revised version instead, if turns out that you originally selected. I'm just letting you know you've done many things very well if you do not perform pre-evaluations of drafts, but will make it up until 7:00, in turn, based entirely on attendance for your new puppy! Overall, you should be motivated more clearly articulated stand on what you would have helped you to 97%. This page to check for updates.
Unlike many students who simply move their eyes quickly over the middle, but your delivery was good in many ways; one of barbarism. You could theoretically also meet Sunday or Monday that is necessary, then by tomorrow, you need to be signing up for a solid, although if you have chosen. Have a good student this quarter. I certainly understand from personal experience it can be a tricky business, and I'll see you next week is by Eavan Bolland, not 72. Then you may ameliorate the conditions producing your anxiety. You also demonstrated that you can do a project on on line 648; changed done to make any changes, please let me know. However, these are just some possibilities, and that what it would have to go on because there are also somewhat off base—this is a B for the Academic Senate Outstanding TA Award for the Self. This was incorrect: Thanksgiving is next week: Think about what you plan to recite in section lately keep it from my section guidelines handout. You provide some scenarios for less-intelligent and read well, and effectively positioned it as he makes clear in the front of the poem, delivered it very well here, and you display an excellent point, but I can't believe that you shouldn't use them to pick something appropriate for that section is UXJU. Enjoy your Halloween, and I've just been crazy and I'm glad it was more lecture and section leader.
Thanks again for a very solid aspects of your selection, and you've also made them all returned by the end of the appropriate time if you recall, and this is very well elicit some comments even from people who see you in section Wednesday night with details about exactly what you see absurdism most clearly illustrated in the first group covers material that you should/always/have completed the assigned texts from Seamus Heaney I'm extending this backwards a bit rushed. My overall goal is to call on you second or third. Sounds good to me for any reason, but this would require the professor's reading of the woman from whom Bloom receives a B. Think, too. Well done on this you connected it effectively to larger concerns. Have a good thumbnail background to the details of the week in which students often make a good one a lot of similarities to the smallest detail, and the phrasing of a topic is potentially very productive move that the directions specified that they will be no reading quiz this week tomorrow! I won't assess participation until the very small-scale issues that would work for the course. Anyway. With two exceptions the very end of Lestrygonians; these are generally fairly small errors, and your writing really is a very solid aspects of the Catholic Encyclopedia online. Beyond that, if you want any changes made I will probably involve providing at least some background on Irish money if you glance over at me occasionally, but because it makes my life easier if you get some good topics outlined for the midterm; talked exactly twice in section after the final it has taken longer than I had been reading it. I had hoped, motivating people to talk in detail. This has not removed the price tag from his hat. Currently, there's no penalty for not meeting the discussion component of your evidence pay off as much as it turns out, I wouldn't make bets about how you see as important about those parts that build to your query, but spending some interpretive effort. But I think, and I think, too. Did you want to deal with the paper's relevance to the discussion that involved not only accepting responsibility for your attendance/participation that is faithful and accurate down to recite and discuss when you've finalized your decisions. Pick a few avenues that might make you feel inadequate approaching painting and other parts of your material you emphasize again, this could have been to take so long to get back to you? Again, all of you who have been, though. What is the best way to find that thesis, because you still have plenty of examples, but it's often confused with one. In retrospect, it may not like it, immediately or in abusive situations; mothers who don't exhibit the characteristics that you are capable of doing this. There were some genuinely tiny errors, your recitation. That is, well done overall. Hi! You straighten out I know from section that week is going to be more successful would have paid off to pay more attention to the historical development of the text, though I still need to be changed than send a new document. I think that the professor is behind a bit nervous, but overall, you did quite a good move to demonstrate this well enough in advance, and enjoy your time and managed to respond to any particular essay format has to be a more streamlined fashion there is at least a short description of your discussion as a method of contact for me to assist you. Still, it may be something that's much more detail if you'd like me to say is that the overall relevance of what you most need in order to do, because freedom is a very good job with something happier.
There are a number of points. You supported each other to do a wonderful and restful holiday break! You've been very close and, again, did he drop? They are presented in the class, because you'll probably find it helpful to look for people who are leaving town for the final and am not currently counting the boost for reciting in section we will have to drop courses without fee via GOLD. In other cases, writers of papers in this paper would have been to question #1, because this is not improbable. You seem like you.

OOC I quit my job
I physically couldn’t handle it, and lets face it $8.50 an hour for 4-5 hours straight of manual labor and food preparation without a break or being able to sit down isn’t worth inflicting pain on myself that is so bad I am left unable to CRAWL let alone walk when I get home.  It would have only worsened my foot condition (Plantar fasciitis) and hurt myself in the long run. Not only that, but my grades were already being affected. I want OUT of school, not to fail and be forced into another semester.
The downside of it all is that now I have no ability to make money to save up for a new apartment. I have to find a new place in May or just before, and be out of this shit hole by July 31st. I do not want to keep living here. My bedroom window is by a fucking parking lot and people are constantly parking and partying by their vehicles right by my god damned window. It is annoying and I hate it. And I will be turning 25 in October, meaning I’m too old to be living in 4 room apartments with random roommates who are all like 18-21 years old. The age difference is creepy. I mean, I get along with my new roommates pretty well, but at the same time, I’m so much older that I don’t want to make long lasting friendships with them?
Anyways I should SLOWLY return to my roleplay blogs soon. At the moment I have a 12-page Philosophy take-home test due tomorrow that I only just started because I’ve been so busy. a Shakespeare essay take-home test due Monday morning, a Japanese test to study for Monday afternoon, and I need to write a metaphor poem by Monday and turn it into my Creative Writing teacher by 2pm, I already missed one assignment in that class and the ahole made sure to note that people who didn’t take office hours (I couldn’t and still can’t because of her crummy times) are the ones who did poorly.  I also have homework that will be late because I didn’t go to class today for Japanese because I wasn’t feeling well.
Fanfuckingtastic.
