I haven't posted anything on Tumblr for years, BUT that silence is broken for Thrawn.
I've read 7.5 Thrawn books in the last couple of months, I'm in deep, it's become my Roman empire, and that behind the scene photo from Ashoka fucked me up.

comic of my modern au!
wren & sebastian both work at an IT store! rowan is a firefighter who works as an afterschool arts&crafts teacher in his downtime (and is ridiculously bad with technology), seb does freelance coding in his free time, and wren works at a summer camp every year as a camp counselor (+alex is a camp counselor as well ^0^) & sometimes helps out at his friend's store (who is a mechanic).

Well obviously we need Witch punishing pet!reader now don’t we ghoul. These two have officially rotted my brain
"There you go pet," Witch coos, tipping the painted glass cup against your lips, watching to be sure you don't choke on the contents, "every drop, good." Her hands are gentle, her thumb brushing against your lip to wipe the last drops of her potion off. It's a startling contrast to the way Price's punishments start. You don't think Witch has the same inclination for bending you over her knee, not that you weren't hoping for exactly that. You aren't sure what to expect from her punishing you, Price is easy to guess but leaving punishment up to a submissive is... well it's never as kind as you hope it will be.
The potion has a tartness to it, something almost fruity, but warmly spiced. Witch sets the cup to the side and holds your face between her hands, watching you closely. In your periphery you can see Price lean forward in his chair, interest piqued by Witch's careful examination of you. After a moment of inspection she tips her head, and blows softly a short shimmering breath against your lips. It chills you, raises goosebumps over your skin, before the blinding heat takes hold.
Your blood feels like it's boiling, your skin tingling and sensitive where Witch brushes her fingers. You pull at your restraints, feeling the heat pooling in the pit of your stomach, tight and desperate. Your underwear rubs painfully against the ache between your thighs. Witch's lips ghost over yours, her fingers dragging over your stomach, nails scratching painful lines over your soft skin. It's awful ecstasy. Every inch of you lighting up with sensitivity at each breath and twitch.
"Does it hurt darling?" Witch asks you, her tongue running over your earlobe. You squeeze your eyes shut against the feeling, arch your back and flinch away from her when she presses her hand between your legs. You feel like she's rung you through too many orgasms already, your skin buzzing, your stomach jumping, she squeezes you, rubs at the wetness starting to seep through the thin fabric covering you. It's hardly the barrier you thought it would be, but the cotton feels rough as it rubs at you, scratching overworked nerve endings. You nod, it hurts, it feels so fucking good it hurts. You've never heard someone purr the way she does, her lips curving into a smile against your ear. "Good."
The buzz of it is the only warning you get before a vibrator is pressed between your legs, shaking a sob from your chest as Price finally sees fit to free his cock. Perfectly happy to stroke himself as his witch takes you apart.

been thinking about the rabies condition in writing lately, which is a GREAT post about stakes and characterization. basically exploring how if there's a 100% chance a character is doomed, then they can and will do extremely dangerous/damaging/contraindicated things for the slimmest hope of survival. which is one of my Favorite narrative devices
but while we're using health metaphors, i've been thinking about another somewhat complicated means of introducing character stakes, which i'm tentatively calling 'the autoimmune condition' for reasons that are. obvious
the premise itself is simple: the character has Something that they need to survive. they either can't live without this thing or they will lose something vital about themselves if they lose this thing. there is no replacement or alternative for the thing. what's most important are that the consequences for losing it are Extreme, rabies-condition-style
in the real life allegory, this is the immune system. which is great for being alive!
then the problem is introduced when this thing starts killing the character.
the character still needs it to live.
so: there is a 100% chance that you will die if you destroy the thing killing you. if you impair it through other means, there is a 100% chance of consequences, though the severity of those consequences is up to the author. (these are medication side effects in the real life allegory.)
if you do everything you're supposed to then you'll PROBABLY survive, but you're gonna have to play lifelong tug-of-war to balance everything, and you are often going to have to choose between two shitty options. bc there is no alternative.
this is a counterpart to the rabies condition in terms of stakes; with this condition, your character has to make complicated and difficult decisions about what they're sacrificing for their future. it's not the immediate life-and-death stakes of rabies, it's a slow decay instead.
what side effect consequences are they willing to take on?? and what are they NOT willing to take on?? where do their priorities lie in terms of symptom management?? what other solutions are they looking for?? what are they willing to sacrifice??
and perhaps most importantly: what exactly do they need to lose before they'll Accept the side effects / sacrifices that used to terrify them?? how high do the stakes need to be??
at what point is this character going to look back at the choices they've made up to this point, and realize that they no longer recognize themselves??
