how did you get into writing fic? i'd love to start but idk even where to begin! I loved adats so I was wondering do you have any advice?
Oh my goodness! I am so flattered you’ve asked me this. Yes, I can absolutely help. I’ll throw a bunch of rambling under the cut.
I started writing fic probably when I was... sixteen years old? A lot of my early works were oneshots. I couldn’t figure out how to do anything plot heavy for the life of me, so I just stuck to AUs or whatever I felt like. I wasn’t in any particular fandom -- I really wrote whatever I had ideas for. I remember I tried once to do a plot-heavy story and I received a review absolutely ripping it to shreds. Like, it was so cruel I cried lol. I ended up deleting the fic. Years later, I get what they were trying to say (basically, more substance, less style), but at the time it cut to the quick. Really, it was only when I was in my twenties that I started writing work that was longer and/or better.
The fandom that helped me actually write plot heavy work was a historical-based fandom. As I’m a historian, it was perfect. I got to use my research skills and knowledge to create works that, above all, aimed to feel authentic. I mainly read historical fiction, so I was familiar with how that genre worked. Miraculously, people loved my work. I think I wrote about ~200k in the period of a year? These were several short stories (20-40k) and a few oneshot filler fics. While I was part of this fandom I also helped organise a Big Bang which was a lot of hard work but was extremely rewarding. Along with that, I interacted mainly with other fic writers, so I spent a lot of time chatting to people about ideas and encouraging other writers, and it just created a lovely medley where no concept was impossible or any line of dialogue too difficult. We supported each other and it was truly like a little commune. I gradually stepped away from the fandom mainly because it was just a part of my life at a very specific time, and almost as soon as that time was over, my love for that story/ship faded, but I firmly believe I figured out a lot of how/what I do now purely through that experience.
Regarding ADATS
With ADATS, it stemmed entirely from wanting to “explain” three months in canon (at the end of season three). I was interested in the idea of season four setting up Will/Mike in canon, and I wanted to test the source material to see if I could draw from what already existed to create something authentic. I began with that simple idea: what happened from July to October in 1985? Then I thought about the major themes I wanted to hit -- family, friendship, coming of age, sexuality -- and I nested them around the bigger concept: how do I get Mike from being ostensibly straight to realising he is gay? That meant thinking of two steps: Mike discovering his attraction to guys; Mike discovering his attraction to Will. Those two concepts were separate “arcs” that needed addressing in different ways. Balance was key to weaving them together and making the reader feel like they knew what was coming (and that they felt smart for putting the pieces together) without just rushing through and going “now kiss!” That’s partly why ADATS needs a sequel, lol: because it’s not finished!
Writing process
The first thing I do when I start to get an idea is I write it down. Sounds obvious. But when you have a killer line of dialogue come to you in the shower and you think “I’ll remember that” -- reader, you will not remember it. You gotta get it down ASAP! I do that the whole way through, as generally I’ll be thinking of scenes I’m stuck on and then it’ll just come to me and I’ll quickly jot it down.
The next thing -- or what I do in the meantime -- is start structuring. I plan. I try to plan a lot. Sometimes it’s okay to write “and something happens here to get them here”, because you’ll figure it out later, but for the most part I’ve discovered that planning is like gold and you can’t get enough of it. I break my work up into generally 3-4 parts/sections, and I treat each section like a mini story. So each part needs a conflict and resolution, and it needs to flow into the next section. You need to have a feeling of things evolving and maturing. Once I’ve planned those little bits, I start thinking about the bigger plot arc and how I can drop in hints along the way. I’m probably not a subtle or skilled enough writer to yet pull off that sort of gasping twist you get in really excellent books, but I’m trying to get there. It’s hard, is what I’m trying to say, but that’s okay, because we’re all learning.
Then I generally do aesthetic stuff. Sounds stupid, probably. But nothing helps me get more into a mood than doing a Pinterest board or -- most of all -- making a Spotify mix. I start thinking about the vibe and the general atmosphere, and then I almost exclusively listen to that mix when I’m working. Sort of like muscle memory? Just to get the creative juices associated with that particular selection of songs.
Another thing I’ll do along with plot structure is character structure. This is a biggie. I mean, a story is nothing without characters. So I’ll just jot down a bunch of bullet points of characters and particular aspects that I want to highlight or remember. I hate continuity errors in fiction. Like, if someone says they work on Maple Street but later in the fic they’re working on Pine Street. I hate that. So I keep note of specific things that my main character might notice at repeated points in the story (colours, places, smells, names, sounds -- so they’re all consistent even as the narrative evolves). That’s another thing -- your characters’ motivations. Not everyone is going to be a huge player, but they all do serve a purpose. The most important character is obviously your main character. I personally think it’s important to let your M.C. be an arse at times. They’re going to be mean, they’re going to misinterpret things or fly off the handle... just let ‘em. Let them be wretched humans, and then bring them back and make them realise what they’ve done. Let them learn! I love consequences in fiction, lol.
At the same time, I’ll probably start writing. We’ve already written down some snippets of neat dialogue or descriptions, but now we should start the actual process. For me, I used to start at the beginning. Usually this was the most fleshed out anyway: I’ll have a clear idea of the beginning and the end, but nothing in the middle. These days, if I have a scene in mind that I can’t forget, I’ll just write it. It will possibly get scrapped or rewritten, but that’s okay, because at least you’ve got it down and now you can devote your brain power to something useful (like figuring out what the middle is supposed to be). I’ll have half a dozen of totally out of context scenes just littered in my Word document that I’ll add to as I go along. Eventually, though, you’re going to start writing properly, and that’s when you write your opening scene.
Opening scenes: super important. Every time I write a scene I think: what is the point of this? What do I want the reader to learn or takeaway? Sometimes you do have filler scenes, but they also serve a different purpose (perhaps to establish a group dynamic or to explore/describe a character’s surroundings). Mainly, though, every scene should push something forward in some way, whether it’s character development or a plot point. So, with an opening scene, I always think you have to establish: where you are; who you are; what they are doing; where they’ve come from (in a philosophical and practical sense); and where they’re going (ditto). That doesn’t have to happen in the first paragraph -- that would be silly. But if you sprinkle that information in over time it’ll gradually build up a picture of your character and that way the reader can get an idea of who they are. You basically need to give a snapshot of what your story is about. This also goes back to the character creator stuff: where they are at the start should be different to where they end up. How that happens is, of course, because of plot, and because you’ve structured everything to the nth degree, we’ve got a very clear progression of that character’s growth (/s easier said than done lol).
General advice
Write down everything: every idea, a bit of dialogue, a description, whatever. Write it down. Doesn’t have to be neat. Just has to be on paper. You can’t remember everything, so if you’re spending time trying to hold those things in your head, it’s taking up space for new ideas to come along.
Structure, plan, structure, plan. Sometimes it’s boring and I hate it. Other times, when I’ve not written in a few days and I open the Word doc and think wtf is this supposed to be, I am very grateful for Past Me for leaving such detailed notes. Seriously, it helps so much. Oneshots don’t really need planning, in my experience. You just get those out there. But multi-chaptered stories really do, even ones that “just” focus on a relationship.
Whatever you want to write, commit to it. Space goblins invade Hawkins? Do it. Eleven and Max find themselves in a cult akin to Midsommar (2019) and must escape? Yes. Just... whatever you want to do, remember that you’re writing it for you. Write what most interests you, what makes you when you reread it go AHHHHH I LOVE THIS!! Because that makes it a thousand times easier to actually get on with the writing when you enjoy what you’re doing.
Write a lot. Every day, if you can, or at least at designated times. Occasionally I have a very specific headspace/vibe I have to be in, but sometimes it just hits me and I’ll say to my partner “I need to write now” and just disappear, lol. The more you write the more you write. It’s so, so, so true. Cannot emphasise this enough. When I wrote that ~200k in twelve months? It was because I literally wrote every. day. Or near enough. Remember that some days you’ll write 200 words, and other days you’ll write 20k (this happened to me with ADATS -- part of the reason I finished it so quickly was because I had sprints of writing 10k+ at a time that only happened because I was in the rhythm of it). Write, write, write. Who cares if it’s crap! No one will see it until you are ready. In the meantime, just write!
Probably last of all (although I could go on and on) is connect with other writers. If you’re struggling to start, sometimes just talking about it can help a huge amount. I hope it goes without saying that you can message me whenever you want, anon or not, and I will talk to you. We can talk about ideas or I can beta stuff, whatever you want! Find like-minded people and talk to them about what you want to do. Another thing this helps is in advertising your work when you do publish. I see a lot of first time fic writers get super down because they publish their magnum opus on AO3 but no one comments. Honestly, it’s because no one knows you’ve published! You don’t have to be tooting your own horn every which way, but just actively talking about your work and even collaborating with other content creators with get you hyped and other people too (and the input and encouragement other fandom members give is just... out of this world. Anon messages helped me finish ADATS when I was really worried I wouldn’t [that’s the truth]. Seriously, support is everything). When you have people excited about your work, you get excited. It’s really as simple as that.
I could go on but this is already horrendously long. I hope even a bit of this helps! If you want to chat or have any more questions, just hit me up any time.

Episode 25: The Abduction of P-Chan
Tumblr media
Y’all, it has finally COME. The arc I have been wanting to rewatch for ages. One of my favorite arcs in the series. It’s time for figure skating, I’m pretty sure I remember this arc very well, and I look forward to seeing if I still love it as much as I used to.
Oh, but before I do that, I just want to go over something. I already talked about this during Season 1, but some of you might be confused why I’ve waited so long to cover this arc. It’s because the original broadcast order and the production order are different, and Hulu has things in the production order. I wanted to cover the series by broadcast date, so even though this takes place right before the original Shampoo arc, we’re not watching it until, well, now. But anyway, that done, let’s watch the episode!
Tumblr media
I am not disappointed.
The episode starts at an ice-skating rink, where Akane is there with a few unnamed friends who want her to join the skating club, because she’s genuinely that good. However, she brought P-Chan with her and left him on the ice. Before she can get back to our transformed lost boy, someone else finds him and takes him away, calling him ‘Charlotte’.
From there, we cut to a ramen shop where Ranma is getting grilled by his friends Hiroshi and Daisuke, who want to date ‘the other Ranma’. That request goes as well as you can expect (though I do have to wonder, since it’s unclear if they think the ‘other Ranma’ is Ranma’s girlfriend or his sister, and they both want to date her, if this would be an actual polycule), but just as Ranma starts walking away, insulting Akane because his friends brought her up, she appears, looking upset.
Ranma immediately regrets that and starts backpedaling, only to realize she doesn’t care about that, she wants his help finding her pet. Luckily, that won’t be too hard, because the thief enters the same shop they’re in, carrying Ryoga around with her. Akane tries taking him back, but the girl resists.
That’s when someone shows up to help Akane, a tall attractive young man who acts like the ultimate pretty boy romance option. He apologizes, explaining his friend has a bad habit of taking things she finds cute and naming them. That just sets the girl off though, whining more and more about the matter until she challenges Akane to a figure skating match.
It’s then that we learn who these two are: Mikado Sanzenin and Azusa Shiratore from Kolholtz High School. Together, they’re a figure skating duo known as the Golden Pair, and they’ve won 950 matches with no losses. Despite this, Akane is ready to fight.
Mikado starts putting the moves on her, causing Ranma to flick some food at him. The figure skater takes that as a challenge, so it’ll be a doubles match of Ranma and Akane versus Mikado and Azusa, and it’ll be in one week.
That night at dinner, Ranma and Ryoga argue over who gets to skate with Akane, each bragging over what they can do...the only issue there is that neither can actually skate at all. Akane starts helping Ranma after he goes into the bathroom and activates his and Ryoga’s curses, since he feels like failing so badly at skating looks worse when he’s masculine.
The Golden Pair return, with Azusa snatching P-Chan to put a new collar on him, one only she can unlock, and Mikado now trying to flirt with Ranma. It’s revealed that they’re both masters of Martial Arts Figure Skating, and that’s what the match really is, as they train by defeating a hundred opponents in just nine seconds. Things get worse when he actually steals a kiss from Ranma, causing Ranma to go use hot water to turn himself back and enter the ice rink ready to fight. He punches the ice so hard that he leaves an enormous crack in it, and he claims it’s the first time in his life he’s been really mad.
That’s where the episode leaves us! But wow, I still feel like a lot happened in this one. There’s a heck of a lot for me to cover, but let’s just start with, well, all the Ranma/Akane. I’m sorry! I can’t help myself!! There was just so much of it! Whether it be Ranma worrying about making Akane mad from another “she’s not cute” kind of thing and being ready to take it back, to how annoyed he gets from Mikado flirting with her, to how after being kissed by Mikado one of the first things he worries about is that it was in front of Akane.
It was adorable!
I also think it’s remarkable how this story is just carried by the personalities of its characters. This isn’t some plot that happens to have the Golden Pair in it. The conflict is driven by Azusa’s strange kleptomania and my Mikado’s predatory behavior. Compared to some other storylines I can think of, this approach makes this one feel much more focused, as well as emphasizing the antagonists of the arc.
I’m going to give each of them their own Character Spotlight in coming weeks, but I did want to say here that I think it’s really interesting how Mikado is frequently animated to make his possessive behavior clear just through visuals, like how he holds Ranma’s arms while carrying him, to keep him from resisting his advances.
The comedy felt strong in this episode, as did the action. I wasn’t laughing the whole time or anything, but I was entertained throughout, and that’s not something I can say for a lot of episodes, sadly. It’s a strong start to this arc, and it just gets better from here...or at least that’s what the opinions I formed in high school tell me, from across the vast distance of time.
Tumblr media
Instead of doing a Character Spotlight, I’m going to FINALLY talk about Season 2’s Opening! Since, for some reason, this is the first episode to have it...when due to broadcast order versus production order a lot of places don’t even have it in Season 1!
This song is called “Little Date”, performed by the band Ribbon. It’s a very cute little song, with elements of lighter and sillier moments but also of more emotional ones. I like it a lot more than the first opening’s song, and while I’m not sure if it’s my favorite opening, it’s one of the ones I love going back to listen to the most.
The visuals are...okay. The first half is pretty meh, a combination of original art, images from the manga, and overall less animated stuff. It’s also kind of infamous for showing Ranma’s cursed form topless, right at the start. The second half is better, and I especially love Shampoo’s introduction. The way she and the music fit together is really good, and the fact it’s at the bubbliest part of the song works really well.
On the whole, even with some more lackluster visuals, I’d still put it above the first seasons’s OP.
Tumblr media
If it isn’t obvious, I’m very happy to be starting the Martial Arts Figure Skating Arc. I don’t know how popular it is in the larger Ranma fandom, but I know I’ve always been a big fan of it, and this time around it’s still good, at least so far. Honestly? I’m actually going to put this as the second best episode so far, I liked it that much.
Episode 7: Enter Ryoga, the Eternal ‘Lost Boy’
Episode 25: The Abduction of P-Chan
Episode 12: A Woman's Love is War! The Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics Challenge!
Episode 15: Enter Shampoo, the Gung-Ho Girl! I Put My Life in Your Hands
Episode 9: True Confessions! A Girl's Hair is Her Life!
Episode 2: School is No Place for Horsing Around
Episode 19: Clash of the Delivery Girls! The Martial Arts Takeout Race
Episode 6: Akane's Lost Love... These Things Happen, You Know
Episode 13: A Tear in a Girl-Delinquent's Eye? The End of the Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastics Challenge!
Episode 23: Enter Mousse! The Fist of the White Swan
Episode 17: I Love You, Ranma! Please Don’t Say Goodbye
Episode 20: You Really Do Hate Cats!
Episode 16: Shampoo's Revenge! The Shiatsu Technique That Steals Heart and Soul
Episode 8: School is a Battlefield! Ranma vs. Ryoga
Episode 11: Ranma Meets Love Head-On! Enter the Delinquent Juvenile Gymnast!
Episode 4: Ranma and...Ranma? If It’s Not One Thing, It’s Another
Episode 5: Love Me to the Bone! The Compound Fracture of Akane's Heart
Episode 1: Here’s Ranma
Episode 22: Behold! The 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire' Technique
Episode 3: A Sudden Storm of Love
Episode 21: This Ol' Gal's the Leader of the Amazon Tribe!
Episode 10: P-P-P-Chan! He's Good For Nothin'
Episode 14: Pelvic Fortune-Telling? Ranma is the No. One Bride in Japan
Episode 18: I Am a Man! Ranma's Going Back to China!?
Episode 24: Cool Runnings! The Race of the Snowmen
This arc continues next week, and if I’m being honest, I think it’s going to top this. But maybe I’m wrong! We’ll see with “Close Call! The Dance of Death... On Ice!”. Can it be as good as Reptaur on Ice? I doubt it.

What’s Up With Europe?
I hope I’m not the only one you see linking this, but yesterday, CNN released the results of a poll yesterday that should not be ignored. I’m aware of the fact that posts with links disappear from search results nowadays, so I’ll reblog the post with links both to the CNN article and to the raw data added for those who are willing to look through the notes (that is, if this version you’re seeing isn’t already the reblogged version). Otherwise, you can google “CNN poll: Anti-Semitism in Europe“, I’m sure it’ll come up. The CNN article is easier to consume than the raw date, so personally, I suggest you read that, if you’re looking for something beyond my own discussion.
So... what is up with Europe? As it turns out, antisemitism is on the rise. Color me surprised.
We’re going to do this in points, because it’ll help keep everything clear in my head.
1. The year is 2018, and WWII ended 73 years ago.
2. The number of people polled was slightly over 1000 in each country, times seven countries, coming up to a total of 7,092. The survey was conducted during the middle third of September 2018, by a British organization called ComRes.
3. The poll had 14 questions, many of which had multiple clauses, and all of which fall under one or more of the following topics:
Control questions
Antisemitic stereotypes (Jewish influence especially)
Opinions of Israel
Holocaust remembrance and/or awareness
General knowledge about Jews (specifically, literally just how many of us are there)
4. Oddly enough, the poll shows that a staggering amount of Europeans are antisemitic (as in, they hold antisemitic views) or know little to nothing about the Holocaust (one in twenty have never even heard of it!) and yet, most of the continent testifies to holding favorable or neutral views of Jews (only 10% or so said they viewed Jews unfavorably, third least-hated out of the 7 groups asked about in the control). Nonsensically, 43% also said that antisemitism was a growing problem, and 48% said that their government should be doing more to combat it. Uhm, okay...  Meanwhile, a staggering 30% - that’s almost one third of the population - don’t believe that Jews face discrimination in their country.
In short, 9/10ths of Europeans don’t think they’re antisemitic, even though they are, but slightly less than half do believe that other people are antisemitic, and that the government should be doing something about it. But also, almost a third of Europeans don’t think Jews face discrimination at all.
5.  How are they being antisemitic? Well:
27% think Jews have too much influence in business and finance across the world, and 22% believe it about their own country.
let me remind you that Jews having influence over money is an antisemitic stereotype that dates to the early middle ages.
22% believe Jews have too much influence in politics across the world, but “only” 17% believe it about their own country.
20% believe Jews have too much influence over media across the world, and again 17% believe it about their own country.
23% believe Jews have too much influence over conflict and wars across the world, only one percent less regarding their own country.
To clarify, between a fifth to a quarter of the European population believes Jews have too much influence in world and government affairs.
An astounding 31% of Europeans believe that Jews use the Holocaust to advance their own positions or goals.
6. 28% blamed "most antisemitism in this country” on Israel’s actions. 17% blamed it on “the everyday behavior of Jewish people”.
7. More than half - 53% - agreed that Israel has a right to exist is a Jewish state, which I’ll admit is a figure that surprised me, because I thought it would be much lower, but also, how ridiculously low is it that barely a majority of Europeans believe that Israel should exist as a Jewish state, when Europe is at least partially the one to blame for its existence? You probably do need to contrast this with the amount of Europeans who know little to nothing about the Holocaust, though - that amounts to 33.17% of the people polled. That’s a third of the population. Meanwhile, less than 20% said that they knew a great deal. Within the statistics of people who didn’t think that Israel should exist as a Jewish state, the number of people who had never heard of the Holocaust more than doubled.
Out of curiosity, I opened the statistics page for Germany only for this question - despite the fact that I’d always been told that Germany had a special focus on education about the Holocaust, their numbers were worse than the common statistics: a full percentage more said they have never even heard of the Holocaust, and slightly less than a percentage less said they knew a great deal about the Holocaust (while I rounded 19.95 up to 20% for gen-pop, I would receive no criticism at all for rounding down 19.15 to 19%).
8. 35% of Europeans believe that Israel uses the Holocaust to justify its actions, and I don’t think I can discuss this avenue further without puking.  32% of people said that the I/P conflict made them feel more unfavorable towards Jews.
9. The funniest statistic is that about half of all people are neither favorable nor unfavorable towards either Palestine or Israel, including Palestinians and Israelis.
10. The absolute worst statistic is that more than 56% of all Europeans report to never, in their life, having met a Jewish person. That is, as far as they’re aware, they’ve never talked to a Jew. And yet, they consistently overestimated the amount of Jews in the world and in their country - there is exactly one country in the world where Jews make up more than 2% of the population, and that’s Israel, and the total amount of Jews in Europe amount to 0.3% of the population. In the world, it amounts to 0.2%. The total amount of people who guessed that there it less than 1% in their own country was less than 6%, and in the world was 6.79%.
In short, the statistics are worrying, to say the least. And I have not gone over all of the statistics, not even close.
So... What’s up with Europe?
I could talk about the cyclical nature of antisemitism. Or I could talk about the dangerous path we’re on. I could talk about how these statistics reflect on America, or other countries. I could talk about what’ll happen next, or what we should do next.
But I think I’m going to let the numbers - sans my commentary - speak for themselves. Because... they’re not good numbers.

personality: sociable, energetic, good listener, adventurous, fun-loving, observant, independent, pragmatic, jester, confident, easily bored, manipulative, unforgiving, good leadership skills, vengeful, strong sense of justice
BIO
hamza’s parents have never been great rulers. they aren’t bad ones either, the people don’t hate them per se, it’s just that they are both bad at solving conflict and often either allow themselves to be pushed into a corner or just hand out money to keep people in line. there’s a lot of... not corruption per se but something in the likes of it. as a consequence, over the past 35 years there has been a lot of money ( both legally and illegally ) leaving but not enough coming in. on the surface things are fine, but the cracks are starting to show.
there was always a lot of pressure on hamza’s father to succeed. his mother despised weakness and had a very black or white view of things. right before he was crowned he admitted to his wife that he didn’t feel ready to rule and that he wished they could spend more time just enjoying their early married life with their child.
before hamza and his twin brother came along their parents had two children who died. one was a stillborn and the other choked on food when she was three. honestly, they thought they were cursed and destined not to have children.
by the time hamza and his twin were born when their parents were in their late 30s.
initially, they were both educated to be rulers but it soon just started making sense that hamza’s brother would the one wearing the crown and frankly hamza was perfectly ok with that. he didn’t mind being his right hand man if necessary, but if he picked other people to help him hamza wouldn’t mind. it’s not that he dislikes his family, not at all, it’s that he has always loved the idea of being his own person and not being immediately connected to his family. it's the whole "i'm so much more than my family & my ancestors, i'm my own person" thing.
the boys have always been very alike in nature, both social and slightly boisterous, truly two peas in a pod, it’s always been the fine details of their personalities which set them apart. for example, hamza always comes off as the most irresponsible sibling but when it comes down to it he’s incredibly dutiful and takes “the greater good” into consideration, whereas his brother is seen as the most responsible and diplomatic one but usually generally follows his heart in the end.
even though his brother is the one under the spotlight most of the time, hamza has never minded attention and always stops to chat with the press (which some people think is attention seeking and hamza doesn’t care to correct them, however, the truth is he’s just being polite/nice? they’re just doing their job and hamza doesn’t mind giving them smth quick and irrelevant to talk about and make their jobs easier).
both brothers are popular in the press only you’re more likely to find his brother’s name in respected newspapers and hamza’s in gossip magazines lmao
hamza very much had a talk shit get hit mentality when he was younger. he has grown out of it (primarily because of his experience in the army)... for the most part.
he has an odd relationship with food. he was a very chubby child and deep down he’s scared of putting on weight. he often indulges when it comes to alcohol but he’s very careful with what he eats and works out regularly.
he doesn’t smoke nor do drugs. “my body is a temple” etc etc etc. also he thinks only boring people need drugs so there’s that!
when he was in his late teens some paparazzi got photos of him leaving a nightclub, completely plastered, making out with some girl and then later he and his friends were stopped by police for being rowdy and publicly indecent and the whole thing was a small scandal. hamza framed one of the photos published and still has it in his living room. it pisses his parents off to no end but he just finds it funny.
he has always loved a good joke. and a good party. it’s true that he has some hedonistic tendencies but they’re not AS BAD as people think.
IT’S IMPORTANT TO NOTE that, as opposed to his brother, hamza never had to face  his personality flaws and shortcomings head-on, and there’s parts of his personality that he has never gotten the chance to fully explore yet and likely never will unless he becomes more politically active or until he finds out how bad the country’s finances are. if that happens, he’s going to surprise a lot of people - both for good reasons ( he’s a good leader and strategist ) and bad ones ( he can be very vengeful and has no time for bullshit, those who mess with his family and country will suffer the consequences. all the checks his father wrote to keep people in line? he would close that tap and piss a lot of people off ). politically speaking, hamza has never had to step up to the plate, he has never had to be a serious person, but if he does, if he’s forced into that role ... it’ll certainly be special.
wears bright colours, and patterns like he doesn’t give a fuck (and he doesn’t). also a big fan of leather jackets and has a huge collection of sunglasses.
he has always been an adventurous and independent kid, always very sure of himself, and never minded spending time away from his family.
actually, when he was a kid he wanted to be an archaeologist.
had like, a bunch of gfs growing up. loved the company, enjoyed giving attention just as much as receiving it, hated when they stuck around for too long or tried to impose on him
surprisingly, hamza is actually incredibly loyal and ride or die for those he considers worthy and he is not nearly as irresponsible and self-centered as he comes across. he also gives great advice and is a good listener.
hamza is a really fast reader and he was always a decent student but he never liked school, he always found it too boring ( he often played pranks and spread rumours to keep himself entertained - he didn’t take any of it seriously ). he did study but just enough to pass and get okay grades. as soon as it was possible he joined the army, while his brother pursued higher education.
the first time hamza realised that there was likely something wrong with the country’s finances was when he was in the army. back then things weren’t as serious and he spoke to his parents and his brother about it. he was told things were under control, and he believed that his brother (and parents) knew how to handle everything. or he wanted to believe it. looking back, he’s not sure which one was it.
when hamza was in his early 20s he was presumed dead for a whole year. this isn’t public knowledge ( although there were random reports - “conspiracy theories” - about it and the journalists were either fired or paid off to keep quiet ) as his parents kept the whole thing under wraps. the plan was to keep saying he was on missions until it was impossible to keep the facade going and then they would make it public that he had died in some grandiose self-sacrificing manner.
surprisingly (once he returned home) hamza understood his parents decision, it was his brother who was beside himself. his brother had been a nervous wreck for the past year and was constantly at war with their parents about telling the public the truth. hamza’s disappearance was quite traumatic for his brother.
recently his brother has become more aware of the state of the country’s finances (hamza’s still not fully aware of how bad it is yet) sometimes when his brother has a drink too many he talks about abdicating / not wanting to be king and hamza always laughs like “heavy is the head...” and never takes him too seriously but lmao maybe he should.
one of the reasons why hamza doesn’t take his brother’s words too seriously is because he always seemed to fit the role of king just fine.  another reason is because his brother didn’t have to be at the summit as he could be in a relationship right now, but he ended things which hamza interpreted as the relationship not being serious ( unbeknownst to hamza this is also one of the reasons why his brother is thinking of abdicating, he regrets ending the relationship and doesn’t want to marry a stranger )
hamza has been nonchalantly vocal about how little interest he has in getting married. not just to his parents and friends but when talking to the press as well. he doesn’t take any of it too seriously, primarily because he’s not the one who is going to be king.
he likes having his space and independence. he has mild ptsd ( he’s been working on it for literal years tho so it’s not as bad as it used to be ) and doesn’t like to have to explain himself to people. he has insomnia, and pools, lakes, etc are a big trigger for him.
WANTED CONNECTIONS
best friend
people who dislike him pls lmao
people he used to prank when he was younger
someone to seriously keeps up with politics and is good at them and has noticed smth is a lil off with his country.
his twin brother (name up to you) who low-key thinks about abdicating far too often. listen i.... have a lot of feelings about these two already and i’m a huge sucker for sibling dynamics so pls make him?? like i kind of hc that his brother might be spiraling down a depression but hiding it very well and look hamza has NEVER been the kind of twin who liked switching places with his brother, he takes a lot of pride in his individuality, but i love the idea of him having to pass for his twin a couple times during the summit bc his twin is not doing well at all.
hamza has a bunch of exs so pls toss them my way. i haven’t given his sexuality a lot of thought. he’s heterosexual? mostly? but he’s been with guys in his youth and it really wasn’t a big deal to him.
his current girl-friend - they will NOT be finals. honestly i’m only requesting this character 4 the drama. she and hamza have been more less dating for some months but the relationship was never public and hamza enjoyed that, as well as the fact that they weren’t always together. honestly, hamza isn’t nearly as serious about their relationship as she thinks he is - he does like her but he’s not in love with her. they are to have a break up soon and tbh i just want her to think he’s an asshole lmao

BASIC BIO
hamza’s parents have never been great rulers. they aren’t bad ones either, the people don’t hate them per se, it’s just that they are both bad at solving conflict and often either allow themselves to be pushed into a corner or just hand out money to keep people in line. there’s a lot of underlying corruption as a consequence.
there was always a lot of pressure on hamza’s father to succeed. his mother despised weakness and had a very black or white view of things. right before he was crowned he admitted to his wife that he didn’t feel ready to rule and that he wished they could spend more time just enjoying their early married life with their child.
before hamza and his twin brother came along their parents had two children who died. honestly, they thought they were cursed and destined not to have children.
by the time hamza and his twin were born when their parents were in their late 30s.
initially, they were both educated to be rulers but it soon just started making sense that hamza’s brother would the one wearing the crown and frankly hamza was perfectly ok with that. he didn’t mind being his right hand man if necessary, but if he picked other people to help him hamza wouldn’t mind that ether. it’s not that he dislikes his family, not at all, it’s that he has always loved the idea of being his own person and not being immediately connected to his family. growing up surrounded by rules and history lessons and paintings and photos of ancestors made hamza develop a big “i’m so much more than my family & my ancestors, i’m my own person” mentally.
the boys have always been very alike in nature, both social and slightly boisterous, truly two peas in a pod, it’s always been the fine details of their personalities which set them apart. for example, hamza always comes off as the most irresponsible sibling but when it comes down to it he’s incredibly dutiful and takes “the greater good” and “the ends justify the means” into consideration, whereas his brother is seen as the most responsible and diplomatic one but usually generally follows his heart in the end.
hamza has always been an adventurous and independent kid, always very sure of himself, and never minded spending time away from his family. actually, when he was a kid he wanted to be an archaeologist.
had like, a bunch of gfs growing up. loved the company, enjoyed giving attention just as much as receiving it, hated when they stuck around for too long or tried to impose on him
surprisingly, hamza is actually incredibly loyal and ride or die for those he considers worthy and he is not nearly as irresponsible and self-centered as he comes across. he also gives great advice and is a good listener.
even though his brother is the one under the spotlight most of the time, hamza has never minded attention and always stops to chat with the press (which some people think is attention seeking and hamza doesn’t care to correct them, however, the truth is he’s just being polite/nice? they’re just doing their job and hamza doesn’t mind giving them smth quick and irrelevant to talk about and make their jobs easier).
both brothers are popular in the press only you’re more likely to find his brother’s name in respected newspapers and hamza’s in gossip magazines. again, hamza is fine with this. honestly, hamza quite enjoys it. he finds that people tend to underestimate his intellect greatly because of it which suits him fine.
hamza very much had a talk shit get hit mentality when he was younger. he has grown out of it though, primarily because of his experience in the army.
hamza is a really fast reader and he was always a decent student but he never liked school, he always found it too boring ( he often played pranks and spread rumours to keep himself entertained - he didn’t take any of it seriously ). he did study but just enough to pass and get okay grades. as soon as it was possible he joined the army, while his brother pursued higher education.
when hamza was in his early 20s he was presumed dead for a whole year. this isn’t public knowledge ( although there were random reports - “conspiracy theories” - about it and the journalists were either fired or paid off to keep quiet ) as his parents kept the whole thing under wraps. the plan was to keep saying he was on missions until it was impossible to keep the facade going and then they would make it public that he had died in some grandiose self-sacrificing manner. surprisingly (once he returned home) hamza understood his parents decision, it was his brother who was beside himself. his brother had been a nervous wreck for the past year and was constantly at war with their parents about telling the public the truth. hamza’s disappearance was quite traumatic for his brother and he has never fully recovered from it.
IT’S IMPORTANT TO NOTE that, as opposed to his brother, hamza never had to face  his personality flaws and shortcomings head-on, and there’s parts of his personality that he has never gotten the chance to fully explore yet. if he becomes more politically active he’s going to surprise a lot of people - both for good reasons ( he’s a good leader and strategist ) and bad ones ( he can be very vengeful and has no time for bullshit, those who mess with his family and country will suffer the consequences. all the checks his father wrote to keep people in line? he would close that tap and piss a lot of people off ). politically speaking, hamza has never had to step up to the plate, he has never had to be a serious person, but if he does, if he’s forced into that role it’ll certainly be special.

2016 Shaky Knees - Day 2
Oh, Jameson…my friend, my lover, my enemy, and my undoing. It’s the second day of the Shaky Knees festival and I apparently learned absolutely nothing the previous day. George Santayana once said “those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.” To George I say fuck you. The southern sun is shining, the spring birds are singing, and all I want is for Atlanta to sink into the sea and end my suffering…set me adrift like a slightly (very slightly) more put together Tom Hanks in Castaway with a scratchy throw pillow as my Wilson. But as the chances of a catastrophic seismic event striking the east coast at that very moment were slim to none, I had to settle for the next best thing, a burrito roughly the size of a Pomeranian stuffed with the majority of extra toppings available at Bell Street Burrito.
Words cannot accurately describe the range of emotions I went through when it was set in front of me 10 minutes, or roughly 70 hangover minutes (they work like dog years), after ordering. I could laugh, I could cry, I could curl up and admit defeat to the tortilla wrapped monstrosity in front of me, I could bask in its glory and finally understand why ‘The World is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die’ is a band name. But instead all I could do is tear into it with a series of animalistic grunts and groans that most likely frightened the young family sitting behind us. But like all good things, my burrito fell apart. Built with the structural integrity of the Verrazano-Narrows bridge (look it up) I was left to limply pick at the wreckage with a plastic fork, the world greying around me and the knowledge of my own mortality sinking in. Alas, nothing gold can stay.
Why had I placed so much hope in the salvation provided via burrito? Well aside from the usual hangover symptoms, I was set to conduct my first artist interview in almost a decade in the coming hours. Unlike my previous experiences, this was not at a sparsely filled club or in the basement radio station of my alma mater, but in an official “press” capacity in the “press lounge”, whatever that would be. I imagined it to be an air conditioned oasis of a tent, plopped in the middle of the grounds, filled with people not unlike myself sipping on beers courtesy of sponsoring Dos Equis, conversing about the days acts and whatever #buzzbands were releasing new material in the coming weeks. After once again pinballing my way from half-knowledgeable security guard to half-knowledgeable security guard until I ended up walking into the sterile lobby of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce that was acting as the festivals official press headquarters, like some Army annexed base of operations in a foreign conflict nobody bothered to hear about.
The “press lounge” itself was not a hive of flannelled, 20-something music nerds enjoying the perks of their positions and mingling about, but an uncomfortably quiet space of parent-aged career journalists quietly discussing the next stops on the festival circuit and what bands management companies were trying to sell them on for coverage opportunities, while a handful of area collegiate journalists huddled together for protection against the heard. I found myself a chair near the back corner of the room, pulling out a chair with the scrapping screech that is the clichéd nightmare of any quiet room. Oh well. I pulled out my palm sized notebook and reviewed my interview questions, sipping on a Red Bull just liberated from the promised ‘free water’ coolers promised to the press junket. “This will help,” I thought as I pretended not to be aware of two ‘official’ journalists whispering back and forth not very covertly about who the hell I was and how the hell I got there. Too old to be in college, too underdressed to have this be my profession. They weren’t wrong, but you don’t have to be a dick about it. But then again, isn’t that the point of most music journalism? To be a dick about people’s passions?
My interview was scheduled at 2:15, the time was now 2:30 and my interviewee, Casey Crescenzo of the Dear Hunter, was running late. Not that I was in any kind of a hurry, aside from getting out of the press area as soon as I fucking could and back into anonymity of a festival crowd and away from my press colleagues. It was the same anxiety you get when going into a job interview, but one you feel completely unprepared for. Just as I was wondering if I was going to be stood up, I got a profusely apologetic call saying had received some bad info from their management team and was just now able to get a hold of me. Shit happens! This is rock and roll, after all, and I was just happy to have a purpose again, instead of just checking and rechecking my prepared notes. Unfortuantely though, the Red Bull was not at all helping. Instead of giving me a little kick back to life, it was a catalyst for my jitters and amplifying what was left of my hangover. With 20 minutes to kill before their arrival, I decided to wander out for a quick beer, a little hair of the dog, to hopefully counteract the caffeine and level out. This plan was quickly foiled thanks to a shaky port-a-potty shelf and shortly after purchase; I literally flushed $8 down the toilet.
After killing some more awkward time in the press area, Casey and Dave walked in, both with the same scan of “I what I’m here to do, but I don’t know who with” look I gave the room about an hour before. Luckily I had the advantage of seeing them play before and walked over and introduced myself. Casey went off for a quick interview with one of the collegiate journalists while me and Dave hung out in the much more relaxed lobby area and talked about the logistics of being on the artist side of festival performances. The reason for the delay was the insistence of the PA assigned to the band that they would give them a ride to the grounds, to which they lamented the fact they could have just walked the few blocks from their #sponsor hotel. This was peppered with a few more apologies for being late, which were completely unnecessary but did ease any remaining nerves I had for the interview.
While I’m not one to get nervous around people for their respective professions, music or otherwise, I do get sometimes get nervous around those who do them very, very well. Crescenzo and the Dear Hunter are just that. A project that started during his tenure with The Receiving End of Sirens, he has put out some of the most ambitious projects I’ve seen in music over the last decade. The crux of the work being a comprehensive six part ‘Acts’ series, which began in 2006 with ‘Act I’ and saw the 2015 release of ‘Act IV’, nearly 6 years after the release of the third album in the series. What were they doing during that gap? Oh, just releasing a 9 EP ‘Color Spectrum’ series along with putting out a non-linear full length through Crescenzo’s own Cave & Canary Goods, an imprint of Equal Vision Records. Please excuse the massive musical nerd out I just had there, but I felt the need to give you a background on why I was getting butterflies about a casual conversation about festivals with someone not terribly much older than I am.
My previous experiences seeing the Dear Hunter were in venues like the Bottom Lounge in Chicago and Underbelly in Jacksonville, not huge but not tiny clubs that are staples of van/trailer tours. Like the vast majority of bands featured on this site, that is the staple of touring life. So what’s it like to go from your own venue show to the 40+ bands, multistage labyrinth that is an average day at a larger festival? “I love the opportunity to play,” said Crescenzo, “but I hate the competitive side of festivals…where it is a little anti-musical. You’re trying to convince people to see you over other bands.” In a situation so saturated with music, it can be difficult to feel like it is worth it on the audience side. “Any given attendee really wants to see maybe 4 or 5 bands,” he added. Considering the cost of a days ticket (single day tickets for Shaky Knees ran just north of $100 after fees), you’re getting, generally, abbreviated sets for each band with the risk of conflicts, noise pollution, and the torture of having to use a port-a-potty all day (yes, I’m still bitter about the lost beer). But the opportunities presented by a festival set are absolutely realized and appreciated by the Dear Hunter crew. “It blows me away that anybody chooses to watch us,” Crescenzo admitted. “It does feel good to have people who you can tell haven’t heard of you, aren’t singing a single word but are enjoying themselves.” While some bands play the same setlist as the given tour they are on before being thrust into the festival world, albeit briefly, there is consideration for that mixed audience in their set “We think about what’s recent and what we want to play, a few songs that fans will want to hear, and what people who don’t know us might like, what might catch their interest.”
Just as the festival experience is an unusual experience for fans, it’s just as unusual for those who exist in the heart of the lineup. “I feel way to taken care of at a festival, it’s not what I’m used to…people always checking ‘are you okay? How are you doing?’…You don’t have to impact your life for my quality of living. I’m not complaining but I want to ask them how they’re doing or see if they need anything,” he says. “But that’s not really the way that it works and I don’t have any pull if they wanted anything,” Crescenzo adds with a chuckle. “It’s stepping into a mini dream for a moment…but the brick wall of reality hits the day you leave. It’ll hit the second we leave. It’ll be tonight when we get to a TA or a Loves gas station and it’s ‘so…sun chips and chili dog’s again for dinner tonight?”
What I really took away from sitting down with Casey is that the festival spot is a mixed bag for bands. While on one hand it’s incredible exposure, building of name recognition, and a chance to play for a new audience you also are thrown into a world of logistics foreign to the club circuit, fighting (whether you want to or not) to attract an audience amidst a variety of acts and options, then trying to do right by both those who’s radar you were already on as well as appealing to first time listeners. Add in an afternoon set time and an aftershow, the equivalent on working a closing shift right into a double the next day, and you’ve got a lot of work going into a single day. Respect given where deserved, because while I walked out of the interview to redeem my fallen tallboy, Crescenzo was on his way to the Boulevard stage for The Dear Hunter’s 4:15 set.
Still jittery from a combination of nerves, trailing hangover, and Red Bull jitters I sought out tofind my wandering comrades hanging about the Piedmont/Boulevard stage lot. Continuing with the job interview metaphor, I was grilling myself the entire walk. Did I ask the right questions? Was it obvious I lost a fight to a burrito earlier today? Was my voice recorder actually working? Spotting the familiar Chicago flag tattoo of my traveling partner Danny, I walked up hoping to shake it off before…too fucking late. I was blasted square in the face with a squirt gun by part of their group. Stopped dead in my tracks, ice cold water dripping from my face, every single anxiety I had melted away as I opened my arms and embraced the firing squad. It was one of those glorious moments when you get ripped out of your own cyclical anxiety bullshit and realize that you have a day of music ahead of you and by some stroke of luck you get to do this as a writer. Highs were fived, beers were finished, and we took the short stroll to catch Casey and The Dear Hunter do the damn thing.
Opening with ‘The Old Haunt’ from the recent ‘Act IV’ release, they wasted no time introducing the audience to their progy, layered, and orchestral tinged sound. Running through a mix of tracks from Act IV and Migrant, it was apparent the band put definite thought into their setlist…balancing the drive of songs like ‘Waves’ with the dancy, pop feel of ‘King of Swords (Reversed)’. Working with roughly half of their usual set time, there wasn’t much banter coming from the stage. “Thank you for choosing to see us, above other acts or even just eating fried dough in the shade” was the only real interlude between songs, save for the ending footnote reminding everyone that it was indeed The Dear Hunter who you just saw belt out a well thought, earnest, and god damn entertaining late afternoon performance. Good form, boys. Good form.
With some time to kill before living every dad’s (and Patrick Bateman’s) dream and seeing Huey Lewis and the News play ‘Sports’ all the way through, we decided to wander over to the food truck village for something to snack on, as there was a long day of music and night of aftershows ahead. As expected, there were the longest lines at the culinary staples of outdoor day drinking; at least 30 people deep for cheeseburgers, tacos, and pizza slices. But I wasn’t there to dine on foods that I know I can get cheaper and better back in Chicago. It might be because I’m a sucker for all things spicy (I mean, I run a hot sauce company) or because I like to play chicken with festival bathrooms, but I headed straight for the shortest line, the creole truck. This is the harshest opinion I will share within these articles: if you go to the south and do not eat at least one meal of creole or Cajun food, you are a straight fuck up.
With a bowl of crawfish ettouffee in hand, we settled down next to one of the shade covered fountain ponds that Centennial had to offered and took some #metime to wet our feet and get some quality RnR before soldiering through the remainder of the evening. Aside from a brief exchange with one of Atlanta’s finest about whether or not my feet were actually in the water, they were, it was the most relaxed I’ve ever felt at a music festival. Another trip to the bar tents had me realizing that the Shaky Knees bartending staff are second to only Fest in terms of friendliness, which is impressive considering some of the mass appeal/douchebag enticing acts that headline major festivals. Of the three types of people I disdain the most, there were two very much in attendance during the weekend: southern bros and hula hoopers (missing: crust punks). A+ to them for holding tight to that southern hospitality…and A++ for the heavy shot pours.
We were now loaded up and ready to get all 1980’s with Huey Lewis. Wandering through the crowd, I wasn’t sure what I would like more; the set itself or those in attendance. The answer was resoundingly in favor of people watching, as every single dad in the greater Atlanta area absolutely called up the babysitter, told it was going to be a late night, and raided their liquor cabinet before ubering to the festival. Holy hell. The stumbling dances, the reminiscing on who they were banging to this album, the whispered conversations about how they wish they still knew someone for cocaine. It was all I could hope for and more. After running through ‘Sports’, Huey and the gang dropped some new material on the crowd. I didn’t hear the title of the song, but my best guess is ‘We all peaked in the 80’s, had kids, got old, and spend most of our time listening to Randy Newman’. It was cheesy on a level that would make Kenny Rodgers blush. It was cliché on a level that made me question where or not Huey Lewis was either an aging rock star or the most advanced person on the planet. Jury is still out.
Focusing on our goal of hitting world famous Elmyr before catching the Explosions in the Sky aftershow, we left the grounds early in favor of cheaper beer, whiskey, and Mexican food. Between the unnecessary whiskey shots (some lessons I will never learn), overkill beers, and an overpacked tinny or two outside the venue the rest of the night was a blur of post rock builds and screaming guitars. The last thing I remember is trying to make a package of frozen mac andcheese back at our Airbnb after realizing we didn’t have a microwave. I think it went well. I was not the General Sherman of Stouffers and Atlanta did not burn to the ground that evening. Hopefully it would be enough to pull me together to wake up in 4 hours to catch Julien Baker’s 12pm opening set the following day.
Will I make Julien Baker’s set? What kind of crying will I start my day with, happysad or sadsad? Will the festival bathrooms finally claim their victory? Tune in to part 3 to find the answers to all these gripping questions and more!

I hate these nights. The nights that are plagued by thoughts, by thoughts upon thoughts because of what went on in the day.
I feel drained. I do. I had a breakdown today and cried a bit. Life feels so... I feel like I’m not- I don’t know how to describe it. I kind of feel like in a movie. I’m.. So sick of having to struggle through the days, waiting and trying to get by. It’s scary you know?.. A part of me is so exhausted.. It feels like life will never end, but not in a good way. It’s a spiral of the same crap over and over again. Why do my thoughts torment me so? I feel.. Tired of it. Things feel so unrealistic, life feels so unrealistic? I can’t comprehend the idea of living another 10, 20 years - My mum keeps talking about how when I get to her age I’ll understand - But I feel like I’ll never live that long. Does that make sense?.. she told me things that were sweet too, when we weren’t arguing and I wasn’t in tears. She kept trying to assure me that things aren’t impossible despite how it feels right now. That it’s within reach. that I’ll have an apartment with the love of my life, that we’ll have some pet rats, adopt kids, decorate a house in any way we want and have our own safe space to be ourselves. That things will get better?..
I just feel.. So lost? And conflicted and confused - is this all there is? Struggling day by day? I know it’s just my ill mind struggling to comprehend the fact future can be happy- it’s just.. It’s hard, you know?.. It’s really hard because I’m so used to being alone in some way or form. I can’t begin to imagine being.. Happy and settled in a few years? Not that I don’t want it, I do! But.. Right now living one day at a time is all I can do?..
Hell, only barely a few months ago I came to terms with the fact I can wear nail vanish. I don’t feel like an adult? In fact if anything, I’m scared I never will. I get uncomfortable being called a woman, for goodness sake. It doesn’t feel like a word that describes me. A girl, perhaps, but I certainly do not have the mentality of a woman, of an adult.
It’s not like there aren’t any good things in my life.- There are. My girlfriend is - My family. My coworker? I just.. It all feels so?- Like some kind of a cruel joke, really. My trust in people is so broken and it’s so hard to look at others and really, truly believe things. I mean, why would anyone want to do anything with me? It’s scary because my brain likes to play on my deepest fears when I least expect it to. It catches me offguard, especially at night when I can’t do anything BUT pay attention to it, when it’s the loudest. And it’s oh, so loud..
I shouldn’t be writing in such a sad manner though. I’m on a call with my girlfriend and she’s sleeping?.. She’s here, she’s trying to be here in ways she can and.. I’m just in a spiral right now. It feels dark but it’ll get lighter. I’ll be okay, I just needed to get stuff off my chest. Otherwise it gets so pent up and I’m unwilling to shed more tears today.

FAMILY INFORMATION.
Why are they/did they, arrange your characters Marriage?: Riley is the Wilde parents’ worst nightmare. Raised in devout faith, it wasn’t that Riley was necessarily an atheist. In a lot of ways, Riley was very religious, but not in the way that they wanted Riley to be. Living a life of sex, drugs, and ‘homosexuality’ didn’t exactly align with their idea of what a good Christian is. So, when Riley didn’t return home after running away at 16, their parents decided to arrange a marriage, knowing it would force their son to come home and, they hoped, ‘return to his devout faith.’ Now, at 28, they have been sending Riley emails and texts for /months/ demanding Riley’s return to Lima.
How do you feel about the person your parents chose for you?: Riley absolutely could not care less about this whole thing. If a marriage certificate was what Mom and Dad needed to sleep better at night, Riley could live with that. They’d come back to Lima for a few years, kiss ass, then just head right back to their life far away from the Wilde parents.
Bio:
tw: mention of alcohol, drugs, prostitution, slurs
Growing up, Riley was a melancholy child. Their childhood had, compared to many others, been a decent one. After all, the Wilde family was well off, with the amount of money growing every year of Riley’s young life until they were as big and wealthy of a name as any of the greats in Lima and across the country. But, it seemed like every moment not in school, the Wilde children were being brought from one church event to another. It was their whole world. Their mother made attempt after attempt, in earnest, to give her children the best life that she could. Yet, to Riley it always felt like the Gospel was always going to come first. If Riley wanted to be in gymnastics but it conflicted with youth group - gymnastics was out of the question. Sleepovers with friends on a Saturday night? Not unless everyone was going to come to church in the morning. Not only that, but for a child that was becoming more and more effeminate as the years went by, Riley was also surrounded by the hateful rhetoric that tends to permeate the most greatly devout of Evangelists. Being told that the feelings growing inside were going to send Riley straight to Hell was deeply traumatic for a little kid who just wanted to do good in the world. It was enough to keep Riley extremely repressed for many years - trying to be the good little preacher’s son they were expected to be.
The one solace Riley had from all this was music. David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Yoko Ono – these were their idols and anchors in a turbulent world. They were able to play some music of their own in school, learning basic chords, but most of their time was spent curled up in bed with an old Walkman, listening to the greats. In a locked bedroom with headphones on, Riley could be…Riley. Crazy and colorful and flamboyant. But, music wasn’t enough to keep Riley persevering through the act they were keeping up. By the time they reached their teenage years, Riley was fed up with the life they were living and, at 16, left home and headed for New York using the money they’d saved up since they were a child. They worked any job they could get – waiter, deliveries, babysitting, and most lucratively prostitution when they had to – so they could buy a guitar, a keyboard and some music lessons. Music got them through an unhappy childhood and they felt the need to give back with music of their own.
Life has been the same in the nearly twelve years since then. Barely keeping afloat, they got by off of selling drugs or their body and working as a bartender in several local clubs. Still, they were so much happier than life had ever been under the Wilde roof. Riley’s music has a small following, but nothing much. They started their own band in their early twenties entitled The Cosmic Lovers. It’s a rock band that mostly caters to clubs, but have gone to a few festivals around the US. They’ve never gone to university or held down a long term job or had a long term relationship. If you ask them though, they’d say that music is an education, a job, and a lover all in one, so they’d had no use for anything else.
Genderwise, Riley identifies as nonbinary and genderqueer, but doesn’t necessarily make a loud deal out of it. When they were young, they struggled a lot to try and learn the way that others perceived them. They could be hypermasculine or hyperfeminine or neither or both all in turns. They’d decided as a teenager they must be gay and had tried to embrace that. Gay men were allowed to be extremely effeminate, right? Called a f*ggot and a tr*nny and all range of insults, Riley didn’t so much take it to heart as they did turn themself into a spectacle. Yet, in their late teens/early twenties, Riley was starting to feel more like being a gay man wasn’t right. After finding themself in bed with more than a few women, Riley knew for certain that wasn’t it.
That’s when Riley contemplated socially transitioning to life as a woman. After all, women could be loud and confident and love to fight and play rock and roll music and all that. But a major shift came when Riley met some people in an underground LGBT club. Riley shared their history with sexuality and gender and heard tales of other people. It was thrilling for them to hear stories that echoed their own. People who didn’t feel exactly right in either binary gender. Now, Riley just is Riley and doesn’t have to worry about the details in between. Man? Woman? It didn’t matter at all to Riley.
Back to their life story, this recent move back to Lima is entirely as a result of the arrangement. The Wilde parents weren’t exactly pleased when Riley had run away to New York to live such a heathen lifestyle, but ultimately let it happen, praying that it was just a phase. When the years passed and Riley was showing no signs of return, they turned to more drastic measures. A struggling young person with no education and no real job prospects couldn’t afford to break the bonds of a marriage contract or get disowned by parents as rich and powerful as the Wildes. So, home Riley had to come to marry some girl and have parents breathing down their back. Six months ago, they bought an apartment downtown and started to look for work. As of right now, they commute up to Columbus to work at a strip club, but are desperate to find something closer. It sucks to have to be back in Lima and far toning down their usual mode of dress and behavior, but if it’ll keep their parents from completely disowning them…it’ll be worth it in the end.
Riley is a very independent person. They’ve always done things on their own and never ask for help from anyone, even if a lended hand would’ve made things much easier. They love being surrounded by people, though, and meeting as many new faces as possible. Charismatic and a smooth talker, they have an incredible talent to make friends with anyone. They love to make people laugh. They can come off as snappy and judgmental at times, especially when feeling threatened, but genuinely has a good heart and tries to find the best in themself and others. An agent of chaos, Riley loves to be the life of the party and the talk of the town. They are loyal friend and a terrible enemy, often clinging to their opinions no matter what. At the end of the day, though, they are talented and driven and just trying to find their place in a world where they’ve never felt like they’ve belonged.

Let’s start this off with an intro of sorts.
Hi there. If you’re reading this, then this tells me you have found this page somehow. I might have told you about it, you might have stumbled upon it (does this website still exist? Also, if you remember this site, you’re just the right age for me fam), or if I really played my cards right, you might have been having a casual peruse on the all mighty Google and you typed some fun phrases like “entertainment blogs” or “pop culture hot takes” or something more generic like “writing blogs for dummies” and you saw this Tumblr page come up at the top of all the other sites and thought, “hmm I like it, I want it, gee thanks, I click it.” Or none of the above scenarios happened, I don’t know. To be honest here, I don’t like making introduction, or more specifically, introducing myself. It’s always been like that.
Being the first in an icebreaker game drives me insane, like “great no pressure, I have to set the standard of making myself sound more interesting than I actually am.” Or in job interviews when they ask the classic question “so tell me a little bit about yourself” and then I proceed to, again, make myself sound more interesting and engaging while also keeping in mind that my answers have to align with whatever the said career path requires. It’s not that I’m antisocial or anything, it’s just the whole idea of being put on the spot to introduce myself has always made me a bit anxious. There’s a lot to introductions, like where do you want me to start? Do I go all the way back to childhood? Highschool?
As an adult, the common thing to do is flex that you went to college, got some degrees, perhaps you graduated with honors? Always flex that. And then you talk about all these jobs you did in your 20s to work towards a career or something, again, setting the appearance of being “interesting” in a certain generic way. The truth is, educational and career backgrounds are the least interesting things about what makes us, us. People. Living and breathing, and as you become wiser in whatever moon phase of life you’re in, you realize you don’t have shit figured out and you probably never will and in some ways, you’re okay with that, at least I am.
From that whole spiel above, you probably just figured out I’m a bit of a nihilist, if you’re cool and into philosophy like that. Like, I’m not full on dogmatic or hardcore about it, it’s more or less a basic level of believing that life has no grand meaning and no ones born with a particular purpose or a predetermined path (but I do believe in predetermination as well as free will and all that jazz… maybe I’ll explain later… but not in this post.), but you give your life meaning, a purpose; you create and manifest whatever is you want to exist, if you want it bad enough of course.
If you’ve made it this far into this intro of sorts, you’ve probably figured out that I overthink things, a lot. That’s why I love writing. It just seems like the perfect creative outlet to let all these wild, wild thoughts have a place to live, to roam, to exist out of my head. It should be noted that I often contradict myself, I’m at peace with this (sometimes). Most things in life are just never that simple, there are so many scenarios, patterns, questions with multiple answers. The flaw of us all is that we sometimes like to believe that everything needs to be figured out in the simplest of responses and answers. If these are the kind of blogs you enjoy reading, if you don’t question a damn thing and have a more definitive viewpoint on the world, I can tell you now, this blog will not be consistently like that. I have plenty of opinions like you but they are constantly changing and evolving. However, certain ideas and philosophies will forever stick, like pineapple pizza is delicious, tea is superior to coffee, and Beethoven is the greatest pop artist of all time. If any of that triggered you, you’ve for sure blocked me at this point and that’s cool, express yourself Queen, go off.
If I still have your attention up to this point, you’re probably now wondering “okay pero like, what is this blog about though?” A solid question indeed and you’re appreciated. I’m here to write about all things within the Entertainment industry, pop culture, music, film, digital media, the arts, politics, etc. that fascinate me and hopefully you find these array of topics interesting as well. From reviews to hot takes, analysis to research, many subjects will be discussed in the hopes that we can get into engaging dialogue. This is probably a good time to inform you as well: if you’re looking for a gossip column, celeb couple goals, or anything that reminds you of TMZ or People Magazine, no disrespect to those established brands but... this ain’t it chief. Like, I’m not going to sit here and act like I don’t enjoy the occasional gossip corner or the spilling of the superior tea or what have you, I just think there are much more interesting things to discuss within the realms of Entertainment that we all often look at through rose colored glasses. If I get into the gossip territory, it’ll somehow require a bit more depth and analysis like A Close examination into the timeline between Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande’s short lived relationship (I won’t talk about how much I obsessed over this if you don’t...) or The Selena Gomez Come Up Theory/Story and How Justin Bieber became her Ultimate Achilles Dick (honestly, this might get a post one day). Also, to be really good about celebrity gossip you have to be on top of it and post everyday, and sometimes multiple times a day, which is something I don’t plan on doing ever; and you have to have/find super sketchy insider sources. I’m just not into the idea of being a direct contributor to that world, none of it is interesting (our word of the day) enough on a long term kind of basis, but that’s just me.
Yes, I’ll be another writer on the internet talking about things, people, places like everyone else, but they’ll be people, places and things that interest me and I hope they’ll interest you as well. At this point, you might have figured there aren’t a whole lot of guarantees for this blog, and that’s mostly true, I don’t have an extended planned out schedule of upcoming posts, I don’t even know what topics I’ll cover next or in what order, but I can offer you some rules and guidelines I have recently developed for myself and my varying creative pursuits that I will promise you. You can call them my 3 Don’ts list. They go as follows:
1)      I DON’T ever want my work to insight violence, harm, ill-will, hate, etc. to others well-being or even, myself.
2)      I DON’T ever intend or want to bore you. I believe that boredom is a choice and I know I can’t predict and/or control what you consider boring, just know I’m here to entertain you first and foremost, and then all that other good stuff comes afterward. AND
3)      I DON’T want you to feel or think that I’m trying to outsmart, out-wit or manipulate you in any way at all.
If it ever feels like I’m breaking any or all of these rules or that I could be unintentionally coming off in such a manner that conflicts with these said guidelines above, feel free to hold me accountable for it and I will come up with a course of action moving forward, within reason of course. But let’s hope we don’t have to get to that point, yeah? Agreed, okay cool. If you’re still here reading this, then congratulations and thank you for making it to the end of my Ted Talk.
I think that’s it, am I missing anything? Oh right the name game, icebreaking intro: hello again, my name is Kamaria and this is my blog.

TAGGED BY: @blue-pincushion TAGGING: @cloud-the-bluebird ((Gonna keep it short here since I don’t know most people enough to know if they’d be okay with me tagging them in this kinda stuff yet))
—    BASICS.
▸     IS    YOUR    MUSE    TALL    /    SHORT    /    AVERAGE ? Short. Even by Mobian/Babylonian terms he’s on the short side and relies on his hair/feathers to get the last few inches to be considered on par with the rest of the cast.
▸      ARE    THEY    OKAY    WITH    THEIR    HEIGHT ? For the most part, yes. Jet enjoys taking advantage of his small size for both stealth and agility. He loves outmaneuvering and outwitting larger targets and sees it only as a bonus for riding where his smaller size simply means less weight and less wind resistance.
That being said. There are times he feels intimidated being the shortest member of his team.
▸      WHAT’S    THEIR    HAIR    LIKE ? A slicked back and spiked mohawk formed of thick clumps of green feathers
▸     DO    THEY    SPEND    A    LOT    OF    TIME    ON    THEIR    HAIR     /    GROOMING ? Absolutely. Jet adores the style, both aesthetically and functionally. He’d first tried the style out when he was still a kid and managed to discover upon a few heavy metal CDs in a fellow Rogue’s quarters. He’d been listening for a while, enamored with how fast and angry and exciting it sounded as he was looking through all the CD manuals and saw a drummer packing a more traditional spiked mohawk with the spikes sticking straight up. So of course he tried the style for himself. Of course, after one ride like this, his feathers were soon slicked back and when he saw it in the mirror, all he could think was “WOOOOW, COOL! THAT LOOKS RAD!” and needless to say, the style stuck. The way it’s spiked back, rebellious and out-of-control, he feels expresses him to a tee, and the fin-like nature of it is aerodynamic enough while providing a fair bit of stability at speeds.
▸      DOES   YOUR   MUSE   CARE   ABOUT   THEIR   APPEARANCE   /   WHAT    OTHERS    THINK ? AB-SO-LUTE-LY. Sometimes Jet will spend hours in front of a mirror, fine tuning everything about his appearance before any even where he expects cameras to be involved. Most of the effort goes to his hair and the tuft of white feathers on his chest, but he’ll still spend a sizable amount of time making sure every last part of his appearance looks impeccable.
As for what others think? To a degree. Though the hawk lives for praise, he won’t pay too much mind to the jeers and boos of others. Jet can focus on the positive responses he gets far better than most, but if it’s nothing but hate and criticism, then it’ll start to take its toll on his mood...and fairly heavily, for that matter.
That being said, he’s far more sensitive when it comes to those he respects. He sets a high bar for that respect and feels it should be valued greatly, so if someone who falls into that category belittles him, then he’ll take it to heart and have it on mind for days, possibly even weeks at a time.
((PUTTING THE REST BEHIND A READ MORE))
                          \/  \/  \/  \/  \/
—    PREFERENCES.
▸     INDOORS    OR    OUTDOORS ? Outdoors, for sure. Specifically open areas with lots of wind. Being a bird, he needs the feeling of wind flowing through his feathers. Even when he is indoors, he prefers to not be on solid land, opting for the shelter of his airship. If he spends too much time without a nice long ride on his Type-J or returning to his zeppelin, Jet will start to grow antsy, anxious, and jumpy. This usually takes about three or four days to come into effect.
Needless to say, that makes any extended prison stays or other incarceration VERY tough on the hawk. Cramped indoors, no wind and stuffy air, and without the gentle sway of his zeppelin or some other airborne vessel to keep him company? That can be a nasty time.
▸     RAIN    OR    SUNSHINE ? Sunshine. Not to say he doesn’t enjoy the rain from time to time, but only when he doesn’t actually have to be in it. Most of the time it’s a burden. It gets in his feathers and leaves him soaking. It disrupts his flight plans and sometimes he’ll have to ground the airship completely when the weather’s bad enough.
That being said, it does make a good veil to escape in, both on foot and for his zeppelin. And he’s found out that a real torrential thunderstorm can make for a very exciting backdrop to ride full speed through. ▸     FOREST    OR    BEACH ?   The beach by far. Just give him a surfboard and he’ll spend all day on the waves. (No not that one get your mind out of the gutter maybe in five years when he’s older JEEZ) Not to mention the sun and coastal winds go hand-in-hand with the hawk.
Not to mention Jet can fit a Hawaiian shirt pretty nicely, as you can see from the Sonic Channel artwork.
Tumblr media
▸     PRECIOUS    METALS    OR    GEMS ?   Precious metals, simply because they’re more practical. Jet often finds him and his Rogues scavenging around for good scrap to bring in and salvage for supplies. After all, keeping an big, metal airship running can be a tall order sometimes. ▸     FLOWERS    OR    PERFUMES ? Neither? If he had to pick one, however, I suppose he’d go with perfume. Mostly because they don’t require any care and won’t just wither up and die. ▸     PERSONALITY    OR    APPEARANCE ?   For now, Jet’s pretty vain and goes mostly for appearance. He’d still need a personality that he could live with, but seeing as he’s of the age where he’d only just recently started to go “Oooooh, girls” he’s still indulging in the appearance more than anything.
He also finds himself accidentally starting to stare at Wave sometimes...just sometimes. ▸     BEING    ALONE    OR    BEING    IN    A    CROWD ?   In a crowd, specifically with all eyes on him. Jet loves being the center of attention, both good and bad. He craves recognition and will hog the spotlight at any chance he can get. ▸     ORDER    OR    ANARCHY ?   Anarchy, hands down. Chaos is Jet’s element. He thrives in the unpredictable. The more maddening he can make any situation, the more he gels with it and can turn the tables on anyone who opposes him. Even in heists, he often finds himself taking the fast and noisy approach, stirring up enough chaos in the process to leave everyone guessing what even happened as he rushes in, takes the goods, and bails. ▸     PAINFUL    TRUTHS    OR    WHITE    LIES ? Painful truths. Jet will tell you to your face exactly what he thinks without a moment’s hesitation. No matter how crude, how mean, and how hurtful it is, he’ll say it and he’ll say it with a smile on his face.
In fact, he’s more likely to lie to hurt someone than lie to make them feel better.
▸     SCIENCE    OR    MAGIC ?   There’s a lean towards “science” here, but overall just magic enhanced by science. Jet uses both on a regular basis. By nature, as his title of “Legendary Wind Master” would imply, Jet is aerokinetic. However his powers are still young and budding, and to do anything noteworthy, he needs his Bashosen or Bashyo Fans to amplify the work for him.
Another good example is the Ark of the Cosmos. This is, in a whole, ancient advanced science, but there were some very, very occult arts required to create them.
But that’s something Jet and his team will discover sometime later. (°<°)
However he still has a heavy tech reliance. His Type-J is an example of that, as well as his goggles which contain a comms device, a HUD (wirelessly connected to his Type-J at all times), and the computing power of a decent smartphone. ▸     PEACE    OR    CONFLICT ?   Conflict. Though neither Jet nor his team want to see the world fall apart, they all find a little shake-ups every now and then to really stimulate their profits.
Of course, they merely aim to profit off the strife that already exists, believing that “Well, it’s happening either way. Might as well make a little cash off of it” and would never even think of artificially inciting a war or something similar on their own just to profit off of it.
▸     NIGHT    OR    DAY ?   Night, by far. Jet feels more at home with the sin and vice that a big city’s nightlife can bring and being a thief by nature, just feels more comfortable under the cover of nightfall. Overall, it’s just more chaotic, the people are more lively, more real.
▸     DUSK    OR    DAWN ? Dusk. This one’s pretty simple as Jet tends to stay up late and sleep in well past noon. He rarely even sees the dawn, but the dusk is like a sign that his day’s about to hit the exciting part.
▸     WARMTH    OR    COLD  ? Warmth. Not that he minds the cold too much, especially when he’s got a snow-topped mountain to play around on, but too much and the sting of the cold gets to his muscles and holds him back.
▸     MANY   ACQUAINTANCES    OR    A    FEW    CLOSE    FRIENDS ?  A few close friends. Jet rarely feels comfortable opening up to anyone, always expecting the worst of them, and that if he ever shared anything personal, they’d merely use it against him. However, those he does trust, he trusts with anything and values them greatly, easily willing to put his life on the line at their defense.
▸     READING    OR    PLAYING    A    GAME ?   Playing a game, certainly. Preferably something with a lot of action, violence, and a need for quick reaction times.
—    QUESTIONNAIRE.
▸      WHAT    ARE    SOME    OF    YOUR    MUSE’S    BAD    HABITS ? He’s rude, he’s vulgar, he’s loud, he’s obnoxious, he doesn’t care about most people’s feelings or emotions.
He’s a bit on the specist side and thinks Babylonians and birds in general are simply better than humans or mobians.
▸      HAS    YOUR    MUSE    LOST    ANYONE    CLOSE    TO    THEM ?      HOW    HAS    IT    AFFECTED    THEM ? OH BOY HOWDY HE HAS. When Jet was younger, the Babylon Rogues had a member count somewhere in the 20s. They were more or less a large family of loud, disruptive, vulgar sky pirates, led by his father, Ace. They were a carefree bunch, roaming around and taking whatever they could get their hands on. Occasionally, sometimes, one of them just...wouldn’t come back. It was a rare occurrence and at the time, Jet didn’t really understand what had happened, just that he always missed them.
However, one day...none of them came back. It was just Jet, Wave, and Storm on their own. They’d soon found out that the rest of them, Jet’s father included, were set up and slaughtered, no explanation why, and no idea who’d done it.
▸      WHAT    ARE    SOME    FOND    MEMORIES    YOUR    MUSE    HAS ?   His first time ever riding an EX gear. He was barely old enough to talk and his father was holding the board steady while he rode along at a snail’s pace. It was all he could do not to crash even then, but that didn’t matter. It was exciting and new and cool! He just wanted to ride again and again and again after that.
▸     IS    IT    EASY    FOR    YOUR    MUSE    TO    KILL ? Not at all. The very thought of it sickens the Rogues. As Jet often describes it, “There’s no point in taking a life. Treasure, gold, money, and everything else we take from people, it’s all worth something. But what’s there to get from snatching away a life? Just gets their friends to come after you with revenge on their mind. It’s not worth it”
Of course, as tough as he tries to act about it, Jet knows he couldn’t stand to put anyone through what he’s experienced.
▸      WHAT’S    IT    LIKE    WHEN    YOUR    MUSE    BREAKS    DOWN ?  One word. Explosive. With how much pressure he has to lead the Babylon Rogues, Jet always feels as if he has to be the strong one, the figurehead that the others can look up to, no matter what the cost to him. Of course, this leads to feelings, emotions, worries all being bottled up. He’ll often have his breakdowns behind closed doors, being reduced to a stuttering, stammering fool, incoherently blaming himself for everything that’s ever went wrong, breaking whatever he can get his hands on, clawing madly at himself.
But if he can’t get that out of his system, or something shakes him severely enough, that’s when he gets violent. If there’s anyone in the area he’d consider a target, the hawk goes out of his way to make an example of them. Concussions, broken bones, and other injuries are common when Jet enters this state of mind.
▸      IS    YOUR    MUSE    CAPABLE    OF    TRUSTING    SOMEONE    WITH    THEIR    LIFE ? Rarely, but yes. It’s borderline impossible to earn that kind of trust from him, but if someone has, they’ve likely earned it for life.
▸      WHAT’S    YOUR    MUSE    LIKE    WHEN    THEY’RE    IN    LOVE ? Very, very defensive. He’ll always be denying it, sheepishly shying away from the topic and trying to claim that he’s “too tough for that kinda thing” with his face flushing red the entire time. As of right now, he’s not too comfortable with the idea of it. All that kissing and gushy stuff just doesn’t have much interest to him yet.
...Yet.

When is an insurance company going to come along who cares about careful drivers?
my car insurance quote has just arrived, the price has gone up by 80 from last year the year before it went up 20. I suppose it was the all the snow we had which caused extra claims. but I have never made a claim in the last 15 years and that was when someone ran into me. why should we keep having to pay for these mindless idiots who cause these increases, why cannot insurance companies talk to each other and triple or quadruple persistent offenders untill they have gone without a claim for 3 years instead of keep hiking up the insurance of careful drivers. well this is the last straw for me.I am selling my car, a stripey punto 2 years old with 4,000 miles on the clock. what should I get for it.""

Born abroad car insurance premiums higher?
I have been gathering quotes for car insurance online on confused and was delighted to see the price down at 615 for once as I have been getting car insurance every year since the age 18 and it has always been over 1000. However, just having a quick check over my details to make sure everything I had entered was correct and then I noticed I had ticked the resident from birth box. I was born in Spain as my mother went over there to work and then had me. I was born in 87 and she took me back home in 88 or 89 roughly. (She is a full British citizen born and raised in UK). As I have no contact with my father and I don't even remember being in Spain or nor can I even speak the language well, I feel fully British and also am regarded as a British citizen. My mum also registered me at a british consulate in april 88, just 6 months after I was born. So I put on the form that I became a resident in 1988. I then calculate the prices again and the insurance quotes shoot up with 955 being the cheapest and the rest going up to 1000. I then think back to all the years I have been paying the insurance and building up my no claims and being the perfect driver with no claims despite having to pay the shocking premiums that young people have to pay and this makes me absolutely livid that my insurance goes up by 340 to 400 based on the fact that I was born in Spain and spent 1 year of my life there and the rest of the 23 years as British Citizen raised here. I am just wondering if I could get away with just going ahead and saying that I was a resident from Birth as I have a baby on the way and really wish that my premiums were a reasonable ammount for once or I should go through it and just demand that they bring the premiums down to the 615 like originally quoted! It just makes me really annoyed that they can get away with this kind of stuff and I really don't like the fact that I am having to pay higher premiums just for the sake of it. Any advice on this?""

I have Esurance right now.. My policy started in Feb and ends in August. It is $200 a month and I have minimum coverage. I did not have insurance for 15 months until I started my policy, so I settled and did not look at many places for the insurance. I just looked at some quotes today, and Progressive quoted me $140 with more coverage and I probably could get some discounts from them. Should I keep my current policy until it expires in August? But they said if i can find a insurance company that will take me without my parents having to be responsible for any mistakes i make (like if i got a speeding ticket their insurance wouldn't go up) I can still drive as long as i pay for my own insurance etc. I'm still in high school but i work a full time job because i get out of school at 10:30 everyday so i can afford insurance plus i do alot of side work. It's a real messed up situation because the truck i have now i payed 2500 cash for it after saving up for 3 years and now my dads selling it and taking the money because it was in his name so nothing i can do there. im selling most my stuff so i can buy another car. i just need insurance. I really need a license so i can continue to get back and forth to school and work. Please any help would be much appreciated.

The cheapest way to change insurance to a new car whilst keeping current car insured whilst i sell it?
Hi, I am 20 years old and I have just bought a new car. I am trying to find the best and cheapest way to change my current insurance ( with one years no claims) to my new car and then i need to insure my old car whilst I sell it. My current car insurance policy on my car runs out on 15th February 2013 and I have cancelled my renewal. I have received the renewal which is proof of my no claims which will be transferred to my new car. Another question is... can I claim the one years no claims on my new car whilst it still runs out for a week on my old car? I have looked at temporary insurance for my current car but this was almost 400 for 28 days?!?!? If insurance companies want me to do it the legal way, they are not making it very easy! Any advice on the best way around this would be great. I know it's confusing! Thanks, Adam White""
Cheaper car insurance?

It's not just some old beater, it's a car that I would definitely enjoy driving. It's a 1999 Chevy Cavalier with a bunch of modifications to it. I'm worried about what I will be paying monthly in insurance. The guy I'd be buying it from told me as long as your insurance company doesn't ask for pictures of the car, in order to keep my premium low I should just lie about what's in/on the car. He said tell them you bought it for the black book price without any mods ($1200 - $2100), and state the only addition being a body kit. MY QUESTION IS: Could I get in any trouble if they ever found out about all of the modifications to the car that I didn't list? What would happen?""

How do we get insurance companies to reduce medical insurance premiums to employers?
Let's face it, here in the U.S. the medical insurance premiums for group health coverage is rising faster than inflation. As a result, a lot of companies are either reducing the levels of coverage in order to offset the cost of insurance, increasing the deductible, and or increasing the cost to the employees for the insurance premiums. The problem is that insurance companies have no incentive to reduce insurance premiums. They continue to get record profits and this issue is out of control. Motorbike Insurance/Tax/SORN/MOT need help!?

The thing i would like to know is, when it comes to the time of my 17th birthday, in what order do i get each of the things, for example, would i get the MOT before the roadtax and if so how would i get my bike to the MOT centre without having roadtax, and would i still be able to get insured on an untaxed bike with no MOT? And its like that for all insurance companies from e-surance to Geico, can anyone explain why or if it even will be that much less?!?!? i mean its more for a BMW 325 4dr (2900 - progressive) then for the BMW z4... How is this possible... Will it cost even less if i get it on my mom's policy? BTW i know BMW are expensive to maintain, but i got a job that i believe will cover everything... do they make z4 4 cylinders or is it only 6? Based on the lowest type of insurance that an 17 year old can get from internet quotes... Ty in advance!""

Car insurance Premium?
(I have only had car insurance for about 6 months, so I am still pretty new to this). My question was that my 6 month renewal policy states that my premium is $728.86; however, when I first got with this company, I paid around $368 down because I am in that age bracket where they stereotype you as a bad driver. Will I have to pay the $368 again along with monthly payments of $66.60? Or will I just continue to pay my monthly payment as it is?""
No insurance ticket in texas?
I got a ticket for no insurance. If I get insurance before court will the judge possibly desmiss it? I know some people have had it dismissed by doing that but not sure of circumstances. I had a fender bender accident at age 17 and had no insurance or liscense. Does the offense as a minor count against me now? Or will this be my first offense to the court? I feel so dumb.

Will my insurance go up?
I live in California. Here, the driver is responsible for the ticket and not the owner. My bf is 19 and im 18, and he drives very well but does have license because he uses his bike. He drove my car and got two tickets because he did not have his headlights on and a misdemeanor for an unlicensed driver. I read that my bf will have to pay $25 if he gets his license before court and $230 for no light. I was wondering will my insurance go up? and will my dad be notified?""
