3. Some may say it's nothing new. As it seems the writing team pretty much remain loyal to the movie summary. But if you read between the lines, you realize how it is a bit forgiving & fan-serving, compare to the movie itself 👍🏻.

4. The locations...last minute alterations... 😆😂.

5. And ofcourse the last time Akane spent with Saiga on his detention cell 😭. She literally blame herself for asking him to come to them on Dejima in MoFA's HQ to retrieve the Stronskaya Papers a day after. Which we all know ended tragically.

6. She pulls the trigger. She question the justice. Which quotes the same kind of line from PP3 novel when she's writing her thoughts down in an analogue typewriter. From that scene she thought of Kogami's action and how Sybil judged him for that.

But in PPP novel, no doubt she puts into consideration the life of Atsushi Shindo and how he was used as a pawn, only to be a master pawn who puppets the life of another pawn like what happened to Akira Ignatov.

Aswell as Akira Ignatov's sacrifice. He volunteered to be a puppet for the sake of the future generation. For the sake of his brother in particular 😢😓😓😢.

There's a MASSIVE difference when he a.) first pulled the trigger against Makishima (out of revenge) and when he b.) pulls that against Tonami.

Akane knows it best.

a) She doesn't want him to be a person swallowed by revenge like Sasuke (Naruto).

b) She hopes Kogami is back for the better but instead he acted again with his animal instinct which indicates he can still be easily outplayed by emotions instead of not letting it get the human out of him.

Akane still looks up to Kogami. She knows he was labeled as a latent criminal by Sybil. But the way Kou acted is like proving to Sybil that their labeling of him as latent criminal was right. And if there's one thing Akane isn't fond of, that is proving Sybil right.

So it's not about Kogami. It's about her campaign against Sybil's false and unfair judgement! So don't mock her! 😖

Lastly, PPP novel is enjoyable because a lot of fans are exerting efforts to translate it to English for fans abroad. Kudos to you all❣️

is Rock/Romeo different in the japanese ds cute?

(as someone who isn’t fluent) yea in jp romeo sounds like less of a bastard and more like idk. idiot airhead spacey naive kid? the jp version also takes him much more seriously as a love interest option which stresses me out a bit but it’s also cute

for the english version of DS and cute natsume sometimes added some arrogant douchey scum bastard zaniness to romeo’s lines to idk i guess try and match rock? (who has different speech habits / “role speech” in JP compared to romeo) and of course natsume also just handled a lot of DS lines Weirdly or Not at all

for example

the wedding vow

JP:「もう一生離さないよ♡ 」| “For the rest of my life, I’ll never let go!♡” (cute)

Natume EN: “I’ll never leave you. Heh heh.” (troubling)

the divorce fakeout event you get if you neglect your husband (the entire thing)

JP: romeo thinks you hate him and he’s sad because you don’t communicate, and says goodbye.. he comes back and apologizes and admits he never wanted to leave, he just wants to stay together and you head to sleep (all’s well that ends well)

EN: romeock thinks you hate him and he says “is it my looks? my gorgeous looks can’t be fading already, can they?!” when he comes back he’s like “i know you can’t be tired of my looks already. it must just be a phase. well time for some beauty sleep” (who the fuck said you were allowed back in)

other than stuff like that, in general i’m finding a lot of events make slightly to very more sense in japanese because often it feels like each line of dialogue was either translated too literally into english or they didn’t have context, so that also applies to romeo’s heart and random events especially later events / events after marriage / rival marriage

the entire yellow heart event didn’t make proper sense to me in english compared to japanese but one small silly example from it where (probably) no context translation made the scene 10x funnier is when he has his dramatic confession

in JP he realizes he may have hurt you by joking around and making up stories to hide his feelings and apologizes profusely. protag shakes her head no with a heart over it to be like “it’s okay <3”

in EN he asks “Can you forgive me…?” and protag does the same gesture. like “NO <3”

also neither here nor there but his relationship with Louis feels a lot more familial in japanese. in english i wanted to kick him out the window during the child discipline event. in JP it’s more silly… (i still want to kick him out the window but more affectionately…) she overall sounds a lot more idk timid in EN but in JP she’s rougher and teases and scolds him a bunch (good👍). she and her two NEET cats children are a very cute family imo

overall i find natume’s odd additions to the game incredibly funny and enhance the experience in their own way (by making it worse) and i enjoy the more bastardly creature but i also think the more serious and soft romeo is sweet. he still has a lot of “what is wrong with his brain” moments in both en and jp he’s just more douchey in english

Donatello x fem!reader

Recap: s/o dropped Donnie's mutagen canister and he got mad at her for it, which he didn't mean to. now he has to find a way to reconcile with her.

Genre: comedy, fluff ending

Lord, forgive the poor 6'8 foot turtle for being this clueless despite being the brains out of his brothers.

He's a mutant. Just guide him fr. Tell him what to do, the poor thing.

The turtles had no experience interacting with humans - humans are hard to understand in terms of personality, emotions, actions and interests. There's a lot but that was all the author can list down.

When Donnie became the first turtle brother to become intimately involved with a mate, a human, he was so thrilled he went up to Raph's face which pissed off the red masked turtle more. He had to tackle down his braniac brother but it didn't work when Donnie just chuckled like he was 10 years old.

You and Donnie were happily together for 8 months, so there weren't a lot to uncover between their relationship since you were working all week and only visited the lair at night or weekends. You won't likely see them at night since they're either patrolling or fighting off criminals far from their lair.

You both had disagreements but it never escalated to arguments or fights. The mutagen spill was not even close to an argument; it was only Donnie lashing out on you and you were too emotionally exhausted to respond.

'The highway looks good right now' You'd think once a while. (A/N: im sorry i had to. my intrusive thoughts won this round)

Donnie was pacing back and forth in the living room with Mikey sipping on his soda drink watching his smart brother contemplating a plan before going to you. He's just mumbling the possibilities and the outcome in case you reject his forgiveness.

While he racks his brain, Mikey has had enough, throws his paper cup and does the unexpected; smacking Donnie's face and he stopped. Completely.

"Did you just-"

"You can kill me later, D, but while you waste time mumbling gibberish or whatever language you use in that lab, y/n could be dead as we speak."

Raph, who heard the whole conversation, tried to intervene. "Oi, numbnuts. Stop with that crap or you'll make it worse for the idiot."

Donnie's narrowed eyes switched to Raph. "You know, you need to tone down with the nicknames you're giving us. At least come up with a better one." Raph cracked his knuckles but Mikey stepped in between them before it gets worse.

"D, listen, we know how much you love y/n. We love her too. Instead of thinking about what's about to come, why not you start by saying you're sorry to her? All she ever wanted when she came by was you comforting her but Leo did that in your stead. She had a bad day but you made it worse."

It was the first time Mikey ever talks in a serious manner and actually talks with sincerity. No puns, no giggling and not even involving pizza in the conversation.

Leo just finished his self training and found his 2nd and 3rd brothers 'examining' his 4th youngest brother on the medical table. He stood frozen for a while until Mikey yelled out for help which he reacted and jogged to them.

Instead of being serious, Leo watched in amusement. "This better be good."

"Mikey was advising Donnie about what to do for y/n-" Raph started, "-and he didn't even mention pizza. What do we do, Leo? Should we interrogate him?"

Leo faked thinking, tapping his chin. "This sounds serious. We should cut him open. Donnie?"

"All ready." Donnie took out all equipments including a saw and Mikey screamed bloody murder.

"Master Splinter!!" Mikey cried, legs waving about.

Instead of running to their direction, Splinter worked on his Japanese plants and casually smells them. "Play nice, boys." he said without concern for the chaos that's happening.

"Noooo." Mikey basically whimpered by their jokes have gone too far. They all just laughed around the youngest and when they're satisfied, they released him. "Not cool, guys. I was only trying to help. When you held me down like that, I called for reinforcements."

"Oh, who? Ice-cream kitty?" Raph laughed, earnings high-3s from the others. (A/N: just using some characters from 2012 universe)

"Mikey, are you alright?!" Your voice boomed the lair, your untied hair flying around as you ran inside the lair.

You stopped to catch your breath and Donnie's attention turned to you, his beautiful mate. You were dressed casually in joggers, black tank top and an oversized plaid shirt. Your clavicular area was covered in sweat, which says you were running to the lair from Mikey's distressed call.

"y/n," Donnie swallowed. You had long forgotten about what happened and turned to him.

"Hey," you breathed out. "Is your brother okay? Is he hurt?"

"He's fine," Raph answered instead. "We were just messing around."

"You strapped me to the table! That's animal abuse!"

"Oh, you gotta be kidding me!"

Donnie trailed towards you, his eyes looking up at yours since you were on the higher steps of the stairs. "I-I missed you, honey."

You coo'd at the nickname he always calls you and hold his face in your hands. Your noses touched. "I missed you more, munchkin."

He pulled your form into his and dug his face in your neck. "I'm sorry for pushing away when you needed me the most. I was selfish, uptight, and stupid. You're the love of my life and I will never push you away like that again," he sneak a small peck near your collarbone. "Please forgive me." His voice cracks.

"I hate you," that made Donnie's heart stopped for a moment. He was about to pull away to look at you but you pushed his head back and his ears landed where your heart beat was. "I hate that you don't come to me when you had a rough day and kept it bottled up inside. I hate you for trying to solve everything and when it didn't go your way, you beat yourself up for it. I want to hate you but I imagined life without you.. God. I cried everyday thinking you hate me for dropping that mutagen canister."

He felt your hug tigtens and when you sniffed, he forcefully pulled away and saw you crying.

"I hate myself for doing this to you," he wiped away the tears gently from your eyes. "If there's anything I can do, tell me. I'll gladly perform seppuku for you."

All brothers interjected at the same time. You turned to them confused.

"What's a--"

"Donnie!" Leo barked and covered your ears. "Are you insane?! If you do that, who's going to hold her?"

Donnie facepalmed. "Right."

Leo uncovered your ears and it just confuse you even more. "Seriously, what's a--"

"Doesn't matter, honey." Donnie kissed your lips, which you responded immediately, his hands went under your shirt touching your skin. He pulled away and flashed his smile which you missed most.

"I love you. Forever and always."

dick grayson is my favourite character. i am not here to slander him or talk bad about those who like him

fanon is what got me into dc. i have grown since and now have a substantial comic collection (at least for the few months i've been collecting). i still enjoy fanon but i am a canon person

with all of that said...

a pointless rant about dick grayson in fanon

this discourse surrounding dc, the batfam in particular, has really been irking my lately. i don't know why, it just has. i see so much around these characters and the way fans interact with each other here on hellsite and on tiktok (i avoid twitter like middle-aged cis white british dads avoid talking about their feelings) and i just wanna scream about it

the erasure of dick grayson's character

dick grayson isn't a himbo

this is particularly common in fanfictions given that the barrier of entry is non-existent but the idea that dick is a silly, ditzy, idiot that can't cook is arguably the complete opposite of his character

i have a feeling this idea stems from the nature of dick as nightwing, the cracking jokes whilst fighting, the appearance of not taking things seriously (when he in fact does, just not as outwardly as the likes of batman). this in and of itself is ridiculous given that a similar character, peter parker aka spider-man, also crack jokes and honestly is very similar to dick in the way he is as a hero, and yet, for the most part, is still taken seriously and isn't diminished to the same level that dick is

which could come down to public knowledge of the character

let's be honest, the majority of the public could tell you who peter parker is, have probably seen at least one live action iteration of the character, if not all 3 iconic versions (maguire, garfield, holland) most (and please forgive me for using generations) millenials and gen z can define their teen years based on which spider-man was coming out. which they went to the cinema to see. all live-action appearances are:

the amazing spider-man ('77-'79) played by nicholas hammond

spider-man (also japanese spider-man) ('78-'79) played by Shinji Tōdō

spider-man (1, 2, 3)('02, '04, '07) played by tobey maguire

the amazing spider-man (1, 2)('12, '14) played by andrew garfield

spider-man (homecoming, far from home, no way home)('17, '19, '21) played by tom holland

given that dick has just as many live action appearances, stretching back to before spider-man had even debuted in the comics:

the batman serial ('43) played by douglas croft

the batman and robin serial ('49) played by jonny duncan

batman ('66-'68) played by burt ward

batman forever ('95) and Batman & Robin ('97) played by chris o'donnell

titans ('18-'23) played by brenton thwaites

EDIT: in my excitement i never included the first comic appearances of either character. dick debuted on the 6th march 1940 in detective comics #38, peter debuted on 5th june 1962 in amazing fantasy #15

(i am not talking about animated appearances as for both peter and dick they are much less known to the general public than live action)

i'd say i was surprised to see the same number of appearances, but by comparing when the show/movie came out, you can see a clear difference

every live action spider-man project listed has occurred within the past 50 years, with the movies being in relatively consistent from 2002 onwards. dick grayson is more sporadic, 2 appearances in the 40s, again in the 60s, again in the 90s, and finally in the late 10s. no wonder he's less well known when you have to go back to the 90s for a movie version and even then it isn't really dick grayson (in terms of characterisation)

most people can tell you there's batman and robin, and maybe just maybe they can tell you robin is dick grayson, but that's about it. mention nightwing and they blank. and don't even try to tell someone that there's been more that one robin, it won't end well

i can hear people yelling "but dick is a sidekick and peter isn't"

yes, that is true, but dick hasn't been a sidekick since the early 80s, after he'd been around for over 4 decades. that's a pretty old sidekick. but yes, this does hold some merit but given that dick is a lot older it's interesting. and with the most recent live action appearance being titans, a show that spends the first 2 seasons exploring dick's journey from sidekick to standalone hero, it does pose some questions

that was a long tangent to basically say that an equivalent character in personality isn't erased so much in fanfiction because they have more recent and bigger exposure (probably)

also, random, but in my research i came across this list of best teen heroes and look

anyway, back to the rant

a wayne family adventures (WFA) tangent

i see people blaming WFA for this but i really don't think that is the case. he may not be the same as his comic counterpart but he is not out of character. everything he does is still very much him. examples include:

comforting duke after ana broke up with him (ep. 10)

helping damian make a friend (ep. 24)

being torn between his brothers (ep. 27-28)

teasing bruce after zatanna made him superman (ep. 54)

teasing helena into swapping weapons (ep. 63) i just like this one

organising everyone back to the manor when he realised alfred was left on his own during thanksgiving (ep. 68)

picking the rainbow suit for bruce (ep. 77)

talking to a little girl who just lost her parents (ep. 80-81)

annoying wally (ep. 84) birdflash time

helping duke with the kidnapping threat (ep. 99) also like this one

competing with jason over lian and roy (ep. 108)

making tim do all the work in his apartment (ep. 111) + haley

comforting and helping damian when he doubts himself (ep. 113) arguably my favourite episode

ok that was most of them BUT seriously WFA is not the problem here

there's no "fix" for this, i just wanted to tell people to stop blaming WFA for everything wrong with new comic fans; you can enjoy WFA and enjoy the comics, the aren't mutually exclusive

WFA doesn't erase him, they just choose what to show in the limited time you get with him. the only thing i remember being "wrong" is that dick can't cook (ep. 17 - top chef)

and yeah, WFA does play into the golden retriever vibes fanon dick has... in one episode, specifically the haley episode (ep. 111) see below. if it takes 111 episodes to fall on a fanon trope, i think that is fine. if you want to include ep. 17, that's 2 episodes out of 116! that's pretty good going. even the comics have more ooc moments (see the current nightwing run)

fanfiction

unsurprisingly, fanfiction is probably to blame but don't think i'm blaming authors (i kinda am but stick with me here)

i don't think writing a comic canon charatcer should be required, but i do think writers should disclose when they haven't read the comics. from experience, i get not annoyed, but have a "ugh" moment when i read a fic and the character is ooc, but if the author has stated in the notes that they haven't read a comic and the character is probably ooc, i am still going to read the fic

ooc or not, if a fic has a decent plot, at least 6th grade (UK year 7) level writing, and not "want to punch them in the face" characters, i'll enjoy it. throw in a popular trope and it'll be a favourite

and if you tell people "hey, this is probably ooc from the comic canon" they can't get mad or blame authors... just saying

i mean the whole reason this is "the problem" is that people get mad over ooc in fan works. like i'm sorry, have you read gotham war?!?!? the current nightwing run?!?!? lots of ooc in the comics themselves

no, but seriously, dick's, mis-characterisation is a product of his prevalence in media, the material people have, and a lack of disclaiming ooc in fanfics. the last point could be a solution, but honestly expecting fanfic authors to do that is ridiculous

YOURE JUST TOLD THAT EVERY OTHER GIRL’S PAIN IS SUPPOSED TO BE COMPARABLE TO THE SINGLE BROWN GIRL THE WHOLE SHOW HAS BEEN FIXATED ON BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF? and that’s somehow supposed to be cathartic. and i guess it could be if you’re a stupid white woman, which is the brand of person who makes up half this site. i don’t think i’ll ever forgive these ugly motherfuckers for trying to make me watch a show that makes me feel like i’m watching some black and white silent film levels of racism towards the evil (singular, again) brown man who is Mystical and Barbaric, look at how he rapes his sister! The “Coming Up” music video was directed by Keith McMillain and features Paul McCartney dressed in ten roles and Linda McCartney playing two roles (herself singing as both a man and a woman). The video premiered in the UK on The Kenny Everett Video Show on 14 April 1980 and in the US on Saturday Night Live on 17 May 1980.

The breakdown, conspiracy to conspiracy, or noteworthy moment to noteworthy moment: 

1. The Plastic Macs 

This is Paul’s self-admitted take on the Plastic Ono Band, which is too obvious to deny anyway. I believe Paul chose the satirical version of John Bonham to lighten it up so it would clearly be a joke. 

It could also be an overture of peace between the Macs and Onos, so to speak. Not sure John would see it that way. 

2. “Like a flower” “Your Mother Should Know” 

It kept nagging at me, “What is this reminding me of??” And it was this. 

Not just the flower, but the suit. It’s a long blazer and he’s wearing a standard collared shirt but it’s kind of like the late-70s, relaxed, “I recorded this in a Scotland barn in a weekend,” vibe. But still, there’s the stairs, the production, the drama, the camp of Paul McCartney. And he’s playing (almost) all of the parts. 

3. “You want a friend you can rely on. One that will never fade away.” (:58) 

(this one is so stupid) 

Paul is kind of known for being the smiley, bop-y, bouncy bug. Take this still of him singing “Yesterday” with the same energy as “She Loves You.”

:52 But for this specific line, in a verified bop-of-a-song, Paul puts an emphasis on “never fade away.” It felt significant. He also does this in the first verse on “never” but it’s not *quite* the same. Sorry you guys asked for this.

As soon as I heard this line, I knew it was a reference to the old Cavern Club days, the good ‘ol days together.

5. Beatle Paul is so happy

Ill-fitting jacket aside (I honestly can’t forgive it), out of all the characters, Paul is very, very happy as Beatle Paul. If he didn’t try to do it on purpose, he could have been just acting like he did during The Beatles’ times and he was happy then... so here’s happy here. Idk it’s an obvious one but it’s cute. 

6. “You want some peace and understanding.” (1:38)

I don’t need to explain this one, right? 

7. “You want some peace and understanding so everybody can be free.” (1:39)

I’mk gonna puke typing this up

In this bizarro world, Paul is saying, “John, you want peace, you want me to understand you and you want us all to be free (to be ourselves).” 

The immediate next shot is the first (and ONLY) shot of Paul’s hands close up on his bass or guitar, prominently showing his wedding ring. In this bizarro world, could this mean, “We can still be free, regardless of the rings?” ??? 

8. I mean I shouldn’t do our boy dirty like this but... (1:45)

It’s just the face. There’s nothing else here. 

9. “I feel it in my bones. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.” 

This one is stupid too.

It was sundown in New Dimension and you're there to see Tsumugi about the designs for the upcoming live for this summer. Instead of seeing the bluenette in the lounge of New Dimension, you were met by the magician, Sakasaki Natsume.

"Ah, KittEN. Good evening. What brings you here today?" He asked when he saw you at the lounge's entrance. You explained to him why you're here and you're sure that you saw his eye twitched when you mentioned your upperclassman's name.

Since you have free time and no more work requests at this hour, you sat at one of the chairs in the lounge. Natsume sat in front of you and stared at you, seeing if you seemed tired and sleepy. But unknown to him, you drank coffee this afternoon at work and you showed no signs of drowsiness after drinking coffee. Not now, but later.

You and Natsume waited for Tsumugi to arrive but he seemed to be late. The athmosphere in New Di's lounge is a bit tense and the room is quiet. You thought of lighten up the athmosphere but you made sure to avoid whatever teasing you get from the redhead in the room.

"Sakasaki, try to say "nechushou" slowly."

"WhAT?"

Your request left the redhead speechless. It was sudden but he thought of giving it a try.

"NEchUshOU. So, what abOUt iT?" He asked and you formed a smile for the effort. You covered your mouth to hide the laugh you kept from him and said, "Sakasaki, say it slowly this time."

While thinking of a reason why you told him that, he remembered that internet joke his roommate told him. He stood up from his seat and sat on the chair beside you. You were wondering if it's one of the coffee's side effects of your body absorbing too much caffeine and you hallucinated, if this is all real, or a spell was casted on you by him.

Seeing your dazed state, he inched closer and raised your chin with his fingers. "KittEN, do yoU really waNT to hear mE say iT?" He asked and you nodded. You swear you felt like you've been casted a spell by him without you knowing. You were caught in the magician's trap. Only he could remove the spell on you.

He smirked, cupped your cheeks and said it slowly like casting a spell.

"Hey, let's kiss."

Bonus: (Pls save Tsumugi)

"Who's going to kiss...?" Awakened from your daze state, you turn to see your upperclassmen, Aoba Tsumugi on the other side of the table. Flustered, you wanted to hide it but Natsume's hand never wanted to let you go. Currently, your face is as red as either Natsume, Tsukasa, or the Amagi brothers' hair. "A-Aoba! Good evening! When did you arrive here?"

"Tsumugi, whEN did yOU arriVE?" Natsume asked and glared at Tsumugi. The bluenette answered, "Just now. I'm sorry if I'm late but I was waiting for Sora at Ensemble Square's entrance."

Just when his name is mentioned, Sora showed up behind Tsumugi and smiled. "Hi, producer and Master! Your 'color' seemed to be vibrant today!"

"Um... thank you, Sora..." You blinked and thanked the youngest member of Switch.

Before Natsume said something that only Tsumugi will hear, he told Sora to cover his ears and the redhead covered your ears. He spoke, "TsuMUGI, the next tIme you interrUPt mE, I'll torture you, kill you, revive you, and kill you again."

The bluenette couldn't help but to chuckle nervously. He'll receive a punch from Natsume later in the designs and props room after the early night meeting.

Escaflowne Voice Meme Part 1

Encouraged by @fayrinferno, here I am, six years late for @drkstars-art's Escaflowne Voice Meme. I'm a newer fan, though, so you'll have to forgive me. I'd love for anyone else new to this or the fandom to join in!

Introduce yourself! When did you first watch Escaflowne? What brought you into the fold? 

I'm afraid to answer because...gatekeeping, but here goes.

My husband watched it on Fox back in '96. He heard about the kickstarter and bought the Funimation Blu-ray set and forced me to watch it, quite against my will, in July 2020. I didn't start liking it until the episode Van pushes Merle's head down. Even then I didn't pay much attention until the moment Van catches Hitomi near the drag-energist mine, then I died hard and reawakened a new woman. (Wish I were joking. Totally not.)

I'm now familiar with both the original English and the Japanese dubs. I like them all.

Who is your favorite character and why? Was it love at first sight?  Has any of their qualities or quirks swayed you on characters in other series? 

I relate hard to Hitomi. I was a green-eyed, annoyingly energetic, average-looking, and very boy-crazy teenager. I ran in track, dabbled in tarot reading, and crushed on many a tall boy with blue eyes. I even had a crush on the cute, tall track star (more on that later).

So, that said, who's my favorite character?

Van, obviously. There's something I just get about him. Perhaps because I was raised by a very manly, very stoic man. He just resonates with me.

Which side are you on? What do you think happens Post-Hitomi when she leaves? Who do you think will be the next opposing power? 

I'm on Van's side. I hope he keeps Basram in check.

Least favorite plot point? Was there something you think should have changed? What do you think would have made it better. 

Varie. I loved her and her black-green hair and also hated how she totally emotionally ruined Hitomi, blaming her for all the bad things that happened to Van and Gaea. Hitomi's going to need years of therapy to undo the damage she did with one conversation. We want to know what's with that green energist that Van gets?

Also, in spite of the fact that the scene where Van catches Hitomi changed my whole heart, I do not, in fact, fangirl over his wings.

OTP? What kind of art and fiction would you like to see? What are some head canons you have for them? What is you NoTP

got xiao to level 70 but i have zero artifacts ready for him so he gets to use my Raw Damage set temporarily

in the meantime, while i continue to simmer with a low fever as a human soup, gonna ramble about differences in the dubs for him and other miscellany related to xiao

it's easy to joke that xiao is the emo edgy character. if you're used to using just the english dub, he definitely comes across as more rough around the edges, a bit more rude and blunt. like he's on the brink of losing it (which he kind of is but english xiao is more in the grrr snarl bark bark way compared to the others.)

but, in the other dubs he comes across as like. fairly reserved and chill. he, with complete coolheadedness and confidence, asserts that he will commit murder for the traveler should they ever find themself unable to go through with it. cuz that has been his job for over two thousand years. he's the guardian yaksha, conquerer of demons, vigilant protector of liyue and its people.

and like in any version his character is in an active struggle with managing overwhelming karma-induced chronic pain and trying not to succumb to centuries of accumulated Nightmare Fuel that is building up in his body, so it's interesting to see the contrast in the dubs on how the voice actors represent that.

funnily it reminds me of like. noctis in ff15, where his character feels different in english versus japanese. some of it is probably cultural context, for some reason english localization tends to think cool = rude. in the japanese translation noctis is more clearly a shy and reserved person who has difficulty with dealing with people thanks to how limited he was in his childhood. in english, they kind of make him seem more airheaded instead. (never gonna forgive the choice to not have english noctis tell his bros he loves them at the end of the game, in the japanese dub he tells them he loves them!)

anyways, in xiao's case the english localization seems to have him lean more into the like. barely restrained vessel of destruction angle, he sounds angrier than he probably is. from what i can understand of other dubs, he's more like a war veteran who is explaining things how he understands it. he exists to destroy, if the traveler summons him he has a hard time understanding that they would just want to hang out with him or ask him about his likes and dislikes. it makes zero sense to him and he will say as much.

with the recent archon quest, we also get to see how xiao is kind of an exception even from his fellow yaksha. while it hasn't been elaborated on much yet, this makes sense because of the yaksha we know only xiao was stated to have been in the servitude of another god before morax contracted them. and that period of xiao's life was very traumatic, leading to him internalizing the idea that he exists only to act as a tool.

which makes it bittersweet to know that the other yakshas saw him as a beloved brother, that zhongli acts as a father figure to him, and that the people at wangshu inn talk about this semi-immortal enlightened beast as though he were an adopted son, a "young gentleman" who likes a specific sweet and deserves some peace and quiet on the roof.

im interested in seeing how the origins of the yakshas is going to be explored more, seeing as they originate from sumeru. xiao's karmic debt being alleviated by the traveler's presence is also a nifty detail, the game reaffirming that aether and lumine can passively purify corruption and the like just by being around and that karma behaves similarly.

now, i gotta hope i get a goddamn anemo goblet for xiao.

I saw that ask that was sent your way... Uh, to explain, what was sent to you was a modern joke we call a 'meme'. That one in particular is used to joke about public figures who pretend they are not a certain negative trait (Racist/homophobic, for example) when they clearly are. It is... Unfortunately quite common in modern times, at least on the internet. Some will find it funny, others will not.

Now this next part I will admit, I will struggle to word properly as there is actually a few things I want to say, but I'll keep it brief; I am in no place to forgive you for your past transgressions. I am not Japanese and even if I was, you clearly targeted certain people such as Ryuunosuke, they are the only ones who can choose to forgive you or not. And what do you know? Those same people are happy to call you a friend, or mess around with you daily. I think that says a lot about your progress! If you don't believe me, then ask them yourselves.

I understand what the person sent to you was something you found tasteless and I'll be honest, I did to (Although I do tend to laugh at those memes, because as stated before, it is an unfortunately common scenario these days), but remember that you have made genuine progress and to be proud of that! And to add to that... Did you know that you're one of the most popular characters from the games IN Japan specifically? The Japanese audience really took a liking to you! I think in the last popularity poll, you were 3rd place? I think that speaks volumes itself. Take this latter information as you will

I’ve done some thinking since this morning (last night?) and I decided to make a post.

This is by no means really a ‘call out post’ in the sense of like... Me wanting to start drama, or wanting a witch hunt or ‘cancelling’ someone. But more of the fact of me making something aware to the public that I tried to settle civilly but it’s come to my attention that my respect, privacy, and wishes are being violated still.

Now I reiterate, I do not want anyone sending them hate or any sort of harassment for me or in my name. I do not condone it and I am not trying to condone it. I am merely making my followers aware of an issue I have with someone, and if they choose to want to block/stop interacting, fine. If they still choose to interact regardless ... I don’t really care. I just want accountability and I don’t wanna sit on this and be forced to stay quiet, you know?

Do with this information what you will, because in the end I don’t care what your choice is and it doesn’t affect me personally very much. I just, again, want this to be made aware at the least and hoping with it out in the open that it may finally stop.

She has been following me before she made her blog, and I even helped her in the creation of her RP blog and offered her help with certain RPC things, even. I know she has been following me for quite a while beforehand because she used to like all my content in my activity feed.

On her blog she has made HC posts that were similar to mine, but at one point she straight up just copy and pasted what I wrote and posted it as if she wrote it. I originally forgave her for it, because I am too kind for my own good and I felt for her since she seemed genuine and she was a long time follower and supporter of my content.

However, I was soon made aware that she has continued to steal my content, both via reblogging my queued posts (The aesthetics and musings) AND, more egregiously, copying my headcanons YET AGAIN but merely changing the wording/wording them herself. Not ONLY that, but even my OOC POSTS and some of my IC POSTS they would end up regurgitating the SAME THING but worded differently not too long after I posted them.

I decided and went and blocked both the sideblog and main account, and told them to stay off my blog and to stop taking my content. They sent me an anon apologizing to me, because Tumblr’s block system is a joke, and I once again told them to respect my wishes and stay off my blog.

However, it seems that they are still on my blog, as they have recently reblogged 95 percent of my queued posts from yesterday in the same order I posted them, on TOP of having the same ‘pride icon’ as me with the Italian flag. Which is also something I did last year. And, I forgot to mention, that they did also use the same theme I was using since the start of my blog that I only finally changed sometime last year.  Which, I didn’t mind at the time, but on top of EVERYTHING ELSE... It just makes me a lil’ :’/ yk?

But yes, it seems to me they are STILL lurking on my blog. Which, if you are reading this, mun, I am telling you once again to stay off my blog and stop taking my content.

On another note that isn’t related to me, however. I do want to say and point out the racism on their account with the ‘Italianese’, the mixing of Japanese and Italian. It’s possible to be mixed, certainly, but the way they portray and go about Molly being both of these is ... Insensitive, to put it lightly. It very well comes from a place of ignorance and, forgive me for saying, a ‘weaboo sense of Japanese culture’. Between the random mixing of Italian and Japanese words together to make ‘Italianese language’ and also just mixing both languages together, both even written improperly, the obvious ‘westernized view of japanese culture’ with the art and way they write it all, it’s just very ... Ignorant, in my opinion.

However, I will also state I am a white woman so I really can’t speak too much and say it’s racist, but I will say from my perspective and the perspective of others who I shared with seem to agree it DOES seem like it’s all coming from a place of ignorance. Again, if you ARE reading this, Mun, please reflect and take this information and work better.

I do not wish ill will on anyone involved. I don’t. This is just me taking a personal issue and making it public after trying to settle things as privately as I can prior without publicly name dropping, but since my wishes as I said are still being disrespected, I wanted to make it public so people were just made aware and also to hold some accountability.

Again, if you still want to interact that’s FINE. I don’t care. I just wanted this to be known instead of sitting on it and feeling like I can’t speak up about the mistreatment and unfairness I have been faced after being nothing but kind and respectful.

The Keeper of Night

Spoiler Alert

RRRAAAAAHHHH!!! I am so fucking angry with this book!!! Ok, maybe that’s a bit of an over exaggeration. It’s just that I just finished it, like, 5 minutes ago, and I hate the ending. It’s not that it’s a bad ending, it’s just that it’s not a happy ending. For anyone (Although, honestly, if it were a happy ending for Ren and Hiro, I still would have hated it). Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great book and I recommend it. It’s just one of those books where the ending is so soul-crushingly bleak that you want to tear your own hair out. So yeah, that’s why I deducted one star from my rating.

I deducted star #2 from my rating because I did not like the world of the Reapers. It’s not necessarily that Kylie Lee Baker’s world building was bad. She’s actually fantastic at descriptions. It’s just that the system the Reapers of England have for collecting souls seems so mundane. I also would have liked to see a little more of Ren’s life in London before she left for Japan. Obviously, I understand that there can’t be a whole lot of talking about her London life because the bulk of the action doesn’t happen until she reaches Japan, but seeing her interact with her father and stepmother would be helpful at building up her background.

Other than those two points (which are both matters of opinion), I really liked The Keeper of Night. Some of my favorite aspects of the book were Ren and Neven’s sibling interactions. I liked their bickering. I did not like their larger arguments as the book went on, but the light bickering about “goddamnit Neven, we’re trying to run away. Are you really bringing a cat?!” and other small stuff like that was fun. I also really enjoyed Hiro’s jokes.

I think the part about it that I loved the most was the folklore and myth. I loved learning the stories behind the different types of Yokai. I especially loved the little passages from Hakutaku’s book that Hiro read to Ren and Neven. I wish I could somehow get my hands on Hakutaku’s book (although I’m not sure if it’s even real).

The Keeper of Night also explores the biracial experience. Ren’s desire to be recognized as a Shinigami and her experiences in both England and Japan directly parallel the struggle between her identities as British or Japanese. This also relates to real life, often times biracial people are often not recognized as members of either of their communities. For example, a mixed race black and white person being seen as too black to be white but too white to be black.

Characters

Ren: I did not like Ren. Ren made me angry. I guess it’s partly because I don’t understand what it’s like to be identified as “other” on appearance by the people I identify with. No matter which part of her heritage Ren tries to identify with, she’s always recognized as an outsider. I don’t have that experience so I don’t understand her anger as much as other readers who relate to her can. That being said, her anger doesn’t excuse the way she treats her brother. Neven has stuck by her through everything. The only thing he asks is that she not kill people indiscriminately and be very wary of Hiro and in the end, she chooses Hiro over him. That’s something I will never forgive her for. As an older sibling myself, I would always always put my sisters above any boyfriend or love interest. I’m honestly more angry at her for what happened to Neven than JD Hiro because Ren had a duty to protect Neven and she actively chose not to.

Neven: Such a sweetheart. I love Neven. He’s just so fundamentally good. He didn’t deserve any of what he got at the end. I’m not saying he didn’t have flaws, because he did, but even what I see as his biggest flaw is also a mark of how insanely good he is. I think Neven’s biggest flaw is being too morally correct. I think he was only looking at the murder of Izanami from a “matricide is wrong” perspective and not accounting for all the nuances involved in this particular case. In this case, Izanami is a horrible being and a horrible mother that needs to be killed.

Hiro: JD. This man is JD from Heathers except a Japanese fisherman god. Also I have a little bit more sympathy for Hiro than I did for JD. I mean, he’s got the same charm that JD’s got and that same warped view of love. The difference is A) I fell for Hiro’s charms; and B) Hiro shows a range of emotions that make him seem more human than JD. I loved Hiro the moment we met him, which kind of tipped me off. For some reason, authors just can’t seem to be nice to my favorite characters; either they’re traitors or they die. In this case, both. I can definitely see how Hiro came to be the way he is. Being disowned by his mother and then wandering the Earth. He’s afraid of being alone and unwanted. That’s why he did what he did to Neven (and anyone else he perceived as hurting Ren or coming between him and Ren). He was trying to keep Ren with him. His whole story is honestly a tragedy and I fully blame Izanami for the way he turned out. I was most definitely on his side until he had Neven thrown to the deep darkness.

Hasashi Hanzo

Hanzo had come home late, he had been helping Kuai laing with a mission and it had taken longer then they both anticipated. It had been a long mission and the one t hign he was truly looking forward to was curling up in bed beside his lover.

As he walks into the house it's dead silent, something that he hasn't experienced here in a long time. A knot forms in his brows as he looks around for his Ume.

Hanzo calls out their name as he walks thought the house. He finds himself in the kitchen, food is left on the table. Everything is cold and he sees their phone on a bench.

Hanzo moves thought the house even quicker looking for some sign of his partner only to come up empty handed as he searches.

He calls out their name multiple times looking despreatly for his lover. It's to late for them to be out and there isn't anywhere they could really go without having to call for Raiden...

Raiden!

As if hearing his name a crack of thunder and lightning echoes and illuminates the fire garden, Hanzo is our the door as quickly as he can make it. He is met with a sight of his lover and raiden walking towards the him.

"Thank you Raiden, don't know how I would have gotten to the hospital without your help, so thank you again." They thank him, their eyes flick to Hanzo who quickly makes his way to them.

They smile to Hanzo as he reach them his hands go to their face looking for any sign of injury. "Hi hun, I'm ok. Sorry for disappearing out of the blue. Family emergency" they say eyes closing gentle.

"Forgive us Grandmaster Hasashi, they needed to go to the hospital, I was the quickest method of transportation." Raiden apologise giving a small bow, he nods to them both before disappearing in another bolt of lightning.

"Are you alright?" He ask lightly, his lover nods before resting their head against his chest. "It's been a hell of a day, my Dad ended up in hospital and I got a call. Scared the hell out of me, I'm just glad he's ok and that I'm home now." They whisper.

"Let's go inside, you look tired" he replys earning a smile from his partner. "Cuddles on the couch?" They ask earning a small laugh for Hanzo. "Yes, cuddles on the couch then bed. We both need sleep"

Kuai tries not to pace around yet all the Lin Kuei members can tell he is on edge. No one had brought it up but they all know something is not quite right.

The grandmaster for two days now has been in a tissy, his lover missing and he has no information on where they are, if they are alright or anything. So to say everyone is on edge would be an understatement.

Kuai had been thought every inch of the compound looking for his lover after he found their phone left in their room. But other then that it was like they just disappeared into thin air. He was desperate for anwsers.

He had to get one of the younger members to help him navigate his partners phone, it was something he didn't really have a use for until now. The phone had five miss calls on it.

After being showed the basics he decided to call the number. It's quite for a moment and Kuai almost thinks it isn't going to work. A voice of the end of the line nearly makes him jump, It's not someone he knows but he can hear his lover in the background.

"Hello is this Kuai?" It's a older man's voice gentle as he answers the phone. " Yes..?" He anwsers almost shyly. He can hear commotion in the background.

"Dad let me have the phone, he's probably worried sick!" He can hear his lover say only to hear a laugh from the man.

"Ok, ok. I'll let you talk to your man, heaven forbid I try and meet the boy" and wirh that the phone is passed over. He can hear his lover this time.

"Hey Kuai,sorry I disappeared. I was hoping you found my phone earlier and called" they laugh lightly. He can feel relief settle in his bones finally.

"Where are you Wǒ de ài?" He ask. "At hospital with my mother and father. Ahh my mum got rushed hear two days ago and I got a panicked call from my dad. So I left in a hurry, I'm really sorry I didn't let you know" they say over the phone. Both ends go quite.

"Is your mother alright?" He ask back finally sitting down. "She will be, she just gave us a massive scare. I should be back home in a few days, I miss you" that makes him smile lightly.

"I miss you too, Wǒ de ài. Please stay safe. Don't scare me liek that again, please" he pleads. A smile rest on his face.

"How much pacing did you do?" They ask as a joke. "Far to much Sweetheart". They share a small laugh. "Sorry Kuai, I have to go again but if I can I'll call you back later" they reply let ting him know.

"That's fine Wǒ de ài, just please stay safe and come back to me" he says before they both say good bye and hang up.

The next day Kuai isn't pacing and seems to be in a lot better mood, the rest of his clan seem to be alot more at ease now that he isn't freezing everything, everywhere he goes.

Fujin

Being a god meant Fujin had duties all over, and it meant he didn't get to spend as much time with his lover ad he wished he could.

But they always made time for each other. Fujin finally getting out if the sky temple and having a day free, it be by your side. And today happened to be one of those days.

So it didn't supise him when he arrived at his lover home to find them not there. After all they also have thing they must do. So in turn he made himself comftable.

And enjoyed the silence, it wasn't often now that he could just indulge in such thing like taking a nap, So that what he did.

He hasn't expected to sleep until late. But when he woke up it was to a gentle kiss on the lips. "Hi Fujin, how long have you been here?"

His glowing eyes flick open gentle meeting his lovers gaze. " It was still morning, I must have had a longer sleep then I expected." He smiles to them.

"I'm sorry I wasn't here, I had to go to the hospital." They sigh lightly moving to lay against the God. Fujin wraps his arms around his lover, pulling them to rest against his chest as he rest his cheek against their head.

"Why did you have to go to hospital Himawari?" He ask lightly. Eyes closing lightly as he cuddles closer to his partner.

"Family emergency, my sibling ended up there and well, I was the one they wanted called. So... I had to go make sure they were ok so my parents don't kill them." His lover huff who a light laugh.

"Your family is lucky to have you Himawari. And I am also very lucky to have you." He hums lightly kissing their forehead.

"And I thought I was the lucky one to have a literal God as my boyfriend" they chuckle. Fujin continues to leave small kisses agaisnt their skin.

"I'm glad your alright, I'm sorry I haven't been around much, alot have been happening at the temple" Fujin says, his lover rolls over to rest their chest agaisnt his.

"Well I'm just happy to see you again, I missed you and right now I just want to stay here. I enjoy cuddling with you." They hum running their hands up his chest and then runs a hand thought his white locks.

"I love you" he says with a smile, his lover presses a soft kiss to his lips.

"I love you too Fujin"

Raiden

Raiden knows just about everything that happens in the sky temple. And then one day it was like he knew nothing that was happening there.

Is lover had been missing all morning, they had missed today's meditation and training with Raiden, something they never did. He had wandered the temple, he looked everywhere and still no sign of his lover.

Normally he wouldn't be to worried about his partner but it has now been five hours of him looking for them. He has asked Liu Kang, kung lao and many of the monks if they had seen his partner. The only other person he could not find was his brother.

Raiden had nearly given up, on the verge of going to the elder gods, hoping that they could shed some light on his situation. But then his eyes land on his brother as he walks towards him with a smile and his lover follows behind.

"Fujin?, where have you two been?" The worry in his voice shows, Fujin just smiles and disappears. His eyebrows knot as he looks to his lover.

"Sorry we disappeared Raiden. A family emergency happened, Fujin was the first I could find so I asked him to take me to the hospital." They reply wrapping their arms around Raiden.

The thunder God sighs as he pulls his lover closer. His head rested against their shoulder.

"Are you well?, why were you at a hospital" he ask look ikng his partner over for any injuries only to find nothing.

"My sibling did themselves in good. Had to be rushed in to the EMR so well, I had to go make sure they were alright, I'm just happy to be home now" they sigh. He can feel The tension in their body fade away.

"Can we go and lay down, to days been alot" they say again, Raiden doesn't reply just picks his lover up and begins to make his way back to there room.
