How do I even articulate this?
Basically I continue to think Klaus is very fucked up but not in the same way that 90 percent of the fandom seems to think (or prefer) and it is the WEIRDEST experience. I'm just constantly like, "oh yeah, I guess that IS how most fans perceive this character."
Does ANYONE else (aside my long-trusted mutuals) get this?

I’m now internally chanting “ROB AND SARAH HOLIDAYS!” Obviously no pressure to write things you don’t want to write. But just know that I would be here to devour anything you do write on it lol
ah, how much you guys like my blorbos never fails to warm my heart and make me so soft. my running joke with @non-plutonian-druid is that any idea i say i'm Not Writing eventually does get written. So, I'm not writing the holiday fic, but i'm not not writing it either lol, If the amount of brainstorming that has gone into it to build Rob's stupidly large family is any indication.
the thing is, if i do write this fic (which... is not going to be short. I know myself. this would end up at like 30k), where do i post it. where does it go. it's practically original fiction at this point. i feel weird posting it in umbrella academy fanfic. five is barely there. it's just my homemade blorbos. plus eleven more homemade blorbos and their intricate relationships that really all come together to make sarah miserable
#she tolerates because she loves her husband and they don't actually see his family that often outside of the holidays#let me ramble in these tags now#in a completely nonsensical order#rob is the youngest of three by a significant amount (decade younger than his oldest brother and 7 years younger than his sister)#his siblings both have kids and the oldest of those kids are just starting to get old enough to have kids of their own#sarah and rob's mom do /not/ get along and that's not sarah's fault#rob's doctor handwriting has never been relevant in hit or jt but is a running joke in this#sarah is the only person who can read it. this sometimes does include rob#the most cursed thing is that rob is bobby to his family and sarah Hates That. so much that she can't even joke about it#five either comes in because he hangs out with sarah in a grocery store parking lot while she's taking a break from all the walters#or he ends up getting sucked into being at the house when they're all also there#one of these is significantly more fun but my god does it add even more dynamics to figure out#anyway. tidbits.#the major sticking point in me actually writing this rather than just having Way Too Much Fun thinking about it#is that it does require a lot of intricate familial relationships that i do not have experience with#so i gotta go off vibes. bits i glean from watching friends interact with their families. and tv#ficblogging#a blorbo christmas#i should have a rob tag#sarah#yeah i've thought about this just A Little Bit

We already know the ending of What We Do In The Shadows the show. The movie told us.
Tumblr media
Spoilers from both the movie (2014) and the show (2024)
I think it’s obvious when Taika and Jemaine set out to make an American version of their vampire comedy, they weaved a lot of the same storylines into the show. We have vampire roommates, werewolves (not swearwolves) , familiars, an ancient vampire, vampire hypnosis, and a camera crew.
All the same ideas exist from movie to show, just presented differently.
Guillermo, the familiar turned vampire hunter turned bodyguard turned vampire turned back to human, is a combination of the movie’s familiar and vampire Hunter roles. I believe he’s also the love interest, Katherine.
I think the show, while becoming it’s own thing entirely, has a deep connection to the movie. I think they’ve been trying to follow viago’s love interest storyline since the show switched hands from Taika and Jemaine to Paul Simms.
While probably not known to most, Paul was instrumental in bringing the show over to the States, having helped to fund it.
Tumblr media
He was already in the world of Shadows, and while I haven’t agreed on the way he’s said things and some direction the show had taken (season 4 had some growing pains), I do believe he’s understood the heart of the show.
Which is why I think they took such a dramatic shift in season 4 to tell and show the audience that Nandor doesn’t want to just date, but to really have a life or afterlife partner. That season had two “coming outs”. Guillermo obviously coming out as gay, and Nandor coming out as pansexual before he was turned.
I think this distinction was really important to build their romantic dynamic. They wanted to show Nandor’s interest in Guillermo wasn’t attributed to just horny vampireness, but actual true love and affection for him.
And having Guillermo formally come out as gay was more than just the Freddie gag (or the purpose of Guillermo having a boyfriend so that Nandor sleeps with him causing Guillermo to get upset about it which encourages Guillermo to take vampire turning into his own hands, leading to the events in season 5), but to show the audience that Guillermo’s not just a hero worshipper of his boss. He could very well have a crush that could become something more.
And while Simms’ execution of Nandermo so far has not been executed perfectly, (mostly because I think his version of Shadows uses jokes to cover or masque serious moments whereas Jemaine’s comedy often highlights and exposes the truth about life in funny situations), I think Paul’s vision is headed in the right direction.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Guillermo has a far larger familiar role than the one in the movie. Storytelling wise, it’s expected that Guillermo’s ending will solve the lingering vampire question that was halfway resolved in season 5. Because the show is telling the audience, “Wait. There’s more.” There’s more change to be had. I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that a part of Nandor’s arc is finding love. And part of his ending will have to be resolving this, as well.
And funny enough, Viago’s ending resolves both of these issues. He finds love with Katherine again and turns her into a vampire, but she got to have a full life first. There’s comedy there (he’s still older than her even though they don’t look it) but also there’s heart. She got to have a full life and agency of her own instead of being robbed of it.
I think Paul wants to set up this ending because it’s funny but also, to highlight his appreciation to the original. We expected from the jump that Nandor would turn Guillermo eventually and we can’t just have that without growth and change and conflict in between. It’s nice to get everything we want, but that’s not what sitcoms do. Sitcoms subvert expectations, and Paul is highly versed in sitcom structure. (Something that I think even Jemaine and Taika had to learn. )
Paul Simms’ isn’t just a writer in the room, he is a writer familiar (haha insert lame reference joke here) with the source material in a sitcom format. The movie wasn’t a sitcom. They could resolve Viago’s relationship because movies resolve arcs at the end of the movie.
Sitcoms don’t resolve anything at the end of an episode or even the end of a season. They resolve them at the end of the show. He knows Nandermo would end the show, because when characters get what they want (whatever their aspirations are) it completes the narrative. In sitcoms, the characters wants drive the purpose of the show.
And all good sitcoms don’t immediately give you (the audience) what you want until the end. And yes it can be frustrating, but when done right, the payoff is worth it. When the arcs are finished, the story ends. Even in sitcoms and comedy shows. So, Guillermo and Nandor being together and Nandor even eventually turning Guillermo, would have to be arc finishers. That would end the show. Which is why I think s6 is ending here, because the lead (Nandor) finished his arc.
Now whether that means Nandor will turn Guillermo on screen or not is yet to be seen. Maybe at some point down the road when Guillermo’s family is much older or have moved on from this earth and maybe when there is a new way to be a vampire without blood, Guillermo will be ready.

Something else about Alec—when we first see him on the field, he’s remarkably less intimidating than the other Undersiders, with a costume much less fear-inspiring and more straight-up gimmicky. I’ve talked about the Undersider’s costumes before, but one of the subtler differences between Worm and more “traditional” superhero media is how the villains’ costumes and personas often don’t have the same level of camp to them that comic villains do. There’s much more focus on practicality, where the only thing that matters aesthetically about a costume is that it communicates “don’t fuck with me.” Every hero in worm has a detailed, practical-yet-aesthetically-pleasing costume, but you run into villain capes with no costume or only the bare bones of one all the time. Rachel’s dressed like a horror movie slasher, Brian doesn’t bother with more ornamentation than an intimidating helmet. Lisa looks the part of your Saturday-morning villain, but she’s more invested in doing that than most because her cops-and-robbers theory—plus, when she’s in action she’s nearly always the scariest person in the room. And Lung, the first supervillain we meet, doesn’t have a costume at all, just a commanding presence. In contrast, the next set of villains Taylor meets, Uber and Leet, are established as losers no one takes seriously partially through having costumes that are just gimmicky. Early worm establishes that the successful villains in this setting are focused on being scary before anything else. Considering the extend Taylor internalizes the “be feared or die” strategy as the story goes on, it’s important for Worm to set that dynamic up quickly at the beginning, even if later characters break this rule*.
But early Regent doesn’t care about being scary. He struts into the battlefield like he’s Gorgeous George**, complete with a costume that wouldn’t look out of place in professional wrestling. He spends less time trying to act intimidating when fighting people and more time trying to get people to forget he’s there until he can steal their cool canon. He’s not trying to scare heroes or rival villains off like the others are, and that’s largely because he didn’t create the Regent persona to scare away people and make crime easier—he made the Regent persona to have a life away from his horrible family. It’s an early indication that Alec’s motivation for being here are not the same as everyone else’s—the other Undersiders are criminals for a living, and are using their personas as tools for their job. Alec is in this to have a good time in a way he didn’t get to in his old life, and is using his Regent persona as a form of play.
*for the later successful villains who DO care a lot about aesthetics, such as Accord or Trickster, their motivation for bucking the trend tend to says a lot about them. But that’s a different post.
**now I have the image stuck in my head of Alec coming to an important villain meeting in an evening gown, puppeting his henchmen to spread a carpet of rose petals ahead of him. Fuck he’d love doing that. The real tragedy of the Behemoth fight is that it robbed us of Aisha and Alec forming the best tag-team heel duo the wrestling world has ever seen.

Was anyone else disappointed as a kid after watching the prequels? (But not for the reason you think. Read further.)
The answer, broadly, is yes, I know. But not for the reason you’re thinking. Just for one, hyper-specific reason that has little to do with the quality of the films.
Owen and Anakin weren’t actually brothers. Owen and Anakin met like… once. ‘Too much like his father’ the fuck you mean Mr. Lars, the man you met ONCE?
You mean to tell me we were robbed of what had the potential to be the funniest sibling dynamic in ALL of Star Wars? Angry old dirt farmer vs the Chosen One/Dark Lord of the Sith? Objectively hilarious. The implication (in the og film and book) that Anakin just fucked off one day to become a jedi starpilot, leaving Owen at home thinking “What a fucking nob.”? Peak comedy.
Can you imagine if these two were actually siblings? Owen watching the look in Luke’s eyes develop into the wild, idealistic look that cost him his brother. Telling Luke his father was a drug smuggler on some old cruiser because that was an easier story for Owen to tell than the reality of it, and after a while Owen himself starts half believing it. Despising Obi-Wan for both taking his brother from him, and then in his eyes causing him to become a monster. The tragedy of Vader ordering the death of his brother.
Say what you want about the brotherhood between Obi-Wan and Anakin, it’s a brilliant dynamic. But the idea of Anakin and Owen coming from the exact same nowhere, same family, same upbringing and everything… it hits me in the feels. Because they represent two polar opposites that ended up with a sort of reverse parallel fate.
Anakin wanted adventure in the stars and he got it, at the price of everyone he loved and never getting to see his kids. Owen wanted a simple life minding his farming and he got it, at the price of dying without ever seeing the stars and becoming alienated from his son. If these two men had been brothers, the TEARS THAT WOULD HAVE COME OUT OF MY EYES-
It would have humanised Owen to the audience long before Kenobi (which I do still basically consider non-canon even though it was a fun ride) did him the - admittedly a little bit over-the-top/ridiculous - justice he deserved. There have always been appreciators of Owen Lars but a lot of people see him as just a bastard. Give him some real PAIN behind that exterior. Give him a VERY good reason, an even better reason than the one in canon, for being the way he is.
Plus, the idea of Owen partially having the force is objectively the funniest concept ever (although I’d still go for the whole “Anakin had no father.” thing and have Owen be normal).
Sorry for the incoherency of my ramblings, I love Owen Lars.

I know other fans like to talk about how aro-coded lovejoy songs are and all that, but I am a firm believer that "It's All Futile! It's All Pointless" is the most aro-coded song of their entire discography.
This is one of my favorites of their songs, and I have analyzed it and am now deciding to share this analysis with tumblr.
This is gonna get long, so everything will be under the cut:
Let's start with Verse One:
Tumblr media
To start with, university is seen as this place where you learn more about yourself and find your people and overall discover yourself as an individual. However, despite the idea of finding your own path at university, there are still societal norms that people just expect you to experience.
In our society, romance and sex are two of the most fundamental milestones in a person's life. At university, people expect you to forge romantic relationships and sometimes sexual relationships, and the only (in society's eyes, acceptable) reason to not be doing so is because of focusing on studies. I, for one, expected that I'd inevitably experience some romantic interests at university, before I realized I was aromantic, like, a month before going.
Point is, it's expected, and it's often just treated like a given.
Now, I've seen other people talk about this, but there's very particular word choice with "datelines" and "sextant." Taking a geography course to learn the datelines and maybe use a sextant can also be read as going to university with the expectations of going on dates and maybe having sex (because, for all that sex is considered a societal norm, there's also a lot of stigma around it with purity culture, but that's an entire other discussion).
But sometimes that just doesn't happen. And, this isn't a unique aroace experience (and some aroace people do date or have sex at uni), but the point is that, sometimes, aromantic people go into uni with the same expectations that society tells them to have, and then that doesn't happen. Or it does happen, but it goes badly. Because sometimes self discovery leads to realizing you don't experience these feelings that are so often attributed to being human.
Continuing on, later in this same verse societal expectations are brought up again.
Tumblr media
This is essentially just a list of what society tells you adulthood is. This is the future in store for you. There's references to the Nuclear Family dynamic as well—where there are two parents in a romantic relationship and their kids. In the line previous to the one above, the romantic partner is mentioned, so it's safe to picture this as the Nuclear Family model.
But, you'll notice that the line very specifically talks about having to do these things. You have to reproduce. You have to get married and have kids and be in a romantic relationship and maybe have sex, but not too much because, again, society often views sex as something dirty.
But no where is there any indication of wanting this future.
(It should be noted that some aromantic people do want this type of future, and some do not. Aromanticism is defined by little to no romantic attraction, and it is experienced in vastly different ways by different people. There is no one way to aro).
Onto the Pre-Chorus!
Tumblr media
Now, this line can be interpreted in different ways, but this post is about looking at this song through the lens of aromanticism, so that's what we're focusing on.
This line is talking about not actually missing the person with whom you've had romantic relations, but, rather, the thought of that romantic relationship.
The thing is, society practically promises kids a happy ending in the form of romance. Romance is the happy ending, and, without it, it's a sad ending. Because of this, there are a lot of aromantic people who feel almost robbed of something that was promised to them. This can lead them to pursuing romantic relationships anyway, even when that's not something that will actually make them happy. So, they're missing the thought of the relationship rather than the person it was with. It's them missing the thought of this promised happy ending.
(Again, there's no one way to be aro, and this is far from everyone's experiences).
Let's quickly jump to the second verse (we'll get to the chorus last—that's my favorite part and the part that you may find most interesting).
Tumblr media
These lines very much read to me as specifically an aroallo experience. It's showing preference of the sexual aspect of the relationship rather than the romantic relationship.
But the partner wants that romantic aspect. The partner feels the romantic attraction that an aroallo person might not. So, he's picking a lock he doesn't go into, because this person isn't going to reciprocate those romantic feelings and are more interested in sexual relations. (But it can be difficult to have a no strings attached sexual relationship, especially with alloro people who might fall in love).
Anyway, this line is pretty straight forward to me as an aroallo experience, but feel free to ask for clarification.
The bridge:
Tumblr media
This again goes back to society essentially telling people that they'll be unhappy and alone without a romantic relationship.
Being aromantic can be an incredibly isolating experience. Especially when you're at university and you're in a period of such great change within yourself and in those around you. This isn't true for everyone, but being aromantic and seeing everyone around you get into romantic relationships can be scary and can bring forth so many negative emotions.
Because of this, sometimes aro people decide to pursue romantic relationships even if they don't necessarily want to because they feel like they'll be left behind and end up unhappy if they don't.
But it's okay as long as it makes them feel less numb and alone.
Finally, the chorus, which is the most fascinating part imo.
Tumblr media
This is the chorus as it appears in Lovejoy's version of "It's All Futile! It's All Pointless!" However, what some people don't know is that there's a slight variation in the original version of the song which was released in 2020 in Wilbur's "Maybe I Was Boring" EP (essentially the songs that didn't make it onto ycgma).
Whilst the chorus is the same the first time it is sung, the second time the chorus is played, there's a change.
Tumblr media
Now, on it's own, it may not seem like much.
"Stella! How are you connecting this to aromanticism?" Patience, dear reader.
For the life of me, I cannot find this reddit post where this was originally commented, but Wilbur said that the line was originally supposed to be "it's a strategy to ensure I remain (in love)," but that last bit was never recorded.
However, it is so interesting to me because, yes, it can be interpreted in an allo way, but it can also so easily be interpreted in a number of different aro ways.
Option A) This aromantic person has fallen in love. It's under specific circumstances, it's the exception, whatever, but they want to stay in love. Why? Well, admittedly, sometimes I think it'd be easier to be alloro. Because, as previously mentioned, being aromantic can be such an isolating experience.
Option B) This aromantic person wants to stay under the illusion that they're in love, even if they're not. Why? For the reasons above, or because that way they can feel less broken.
There's a plethora of different reasons why some aro people sometimes want to be in love. And a lot of the time it ties back to society hyping up romance for basically all our lives, and then suddenly being confronted with not getting that. Not to mention the whole relationship hierarchy thing where romance is placed at the very top of the pyramid, and, well, sometimes people just want to be someone's first priority like a romantic partner would be.
Bonus:
There was a stream at one point where some chatter said something along the lines of "us aromantics are going to steal your songs" (I saw this clip in an edit earlier today which inspired me to make this post, but I cannot find the clip on it's own so I haven't included it </3).
Wilbur then goes onto say "you aromantics need to read my lyrics. you should read It's All Futile! It's All Pointless! Figure out what it's about." He of course then went on to briefly mention Perfume and said something about most of his music, but he said iaf!iap! first.
And, honestly, combined with everything in the song itself going all the way back to the original version of the song, I just think it goes to show that this song is the aromantic-coded lovejoy song of them all.
Why do Wilbur's songs have various levels of aro-coding? Idk. Tbh it's probably none of my business. I just think it's neat.
Tumblr media
Anyway, thank you for coming to my TEDTalk. Please go listen to both Lovejoy's version and the original version of "It's All Futile! It's All Pointless!" and remember to stream wu&io!
(All four songs of Maybe I Was Boring is in one track of the same name on Wilbur Soot's spotify account if you want to listen to the original version of the song).

do you ever think about the parallels between damon and graham and paul and john? the childhood best friends and inseparable creative partners, one is the pusher for the dream, and the other one is the arty emotional live wire, the jealousy, competitiveness, emotional breakdown, and dissatisfaction/unhappiness with their dynamic. eventually, one gets a new creative partner, and the wedge becomes a chasm. yet only one of them got the opportunity to fully reconcile while the other was robbed of it.
of course, they're not the same, and the level of success does make for a lot of that separation. but I see how much time and effort it took for damon and graham to rebuild their relationship, knowing it couldn't go to what it once was but still working to repair it. glad they did, especially when you hear paul say that one should never put off telling someone you love them.
yeeeesss this has been a point of great interest for myself and certain other rpf scholars on this site (hi @elena-ferrante). watching paul in get back really reminded me of damon lol...i think it's interesting that part of the tension between d&g and j&p is that the domineering control freak "spokesman" member of the pair comes across as the one calling the shots but is in fact so full of admiration for and places such a high value on the opinion of the other that he becomes sort of deferential to him... i think they all struggle(d) with their identities and public images being intertwined. but i also think that there is/was more love between them than we could possibly understand from the outside. i really sincerely think that john and paul would have reconciled if they'd been given enough time.
speaking more broadly to your point about the wedge & the chasm: i think another thing about why bands are so interesting and why they capture the public imagination is that they frequently present this homosocial fantasy of companionship that is very much rooted in an adolescent configuration of life , i.e. hanging out with your friends all the time, doing whatever you want, responsible for only yourselves, obligated to each other out of a shared passion. and that lifestyle is not compatible with The Institution of Adulthood, i.e. stable career, marriage and family-rearing, which still feels compulsory—if not totally inescapable—for most people in [heterosexual] society. a band can be a world unto itself but it is not the real world. there are soooooooooo many examples of bands falling apart once a member gets married and/or commits to a new creative partner because that development inevitably ruins the fantasy on which the band was built, consciously or subconsciously. the real world comes careening back into focus...and you can't ever get that old life back once you've deviated from it.
i think the assumption within heterosexual society that homosociality is something that one "ages out of" is very pervasive (and homophobic, natch, but we don't have to get into that now). that homosocial relationships—or even friendships more generally—are always ultimately secondary to romantic relationships (specifically marriage) is something that i think a lot of people struggle with as they move further into adulthood (i know i am lol). it just happened on a much more drastic scale for these guys because of their fame.
also so much of the stuff in this post is very damon & graham coded...

Alright so, I wouldn't have finished this so soon but some of you showed interest in my silly ramblings sooooo... here are some of my headcanons for Larry's 'aloof' personality.
Asperger Syndrome
-Since he was a small child, there were a few behavioral differences between him and the rest of the children.
He never really knew how to properly communicate. That might be very common in children BUT he literally had struggles trying to explain anything. Sentences like: 'I want that' or 'can I have that?' were never on his tongue and lots of time he'd get upset at himself/ people around him for not being able to read his mind and take care of his demands. This kind of behavior crosses a bit into 'anti-social' tenancies. (Hard time to communicate, preferred playing alone, very poor social skills, etc) Shortly, his 'forever-upset' personality resulted in children excluding/ isolating him from their games and plays.
-Larry didn't know why nobody wanted to play with him, why everybody avoided him like plague and gave him dubious looks. Throughout his kindergarten and early-school years he never made friends, never had any significant relationships except with his parents.
Why did nobody see these signs and act accordingly?
We're in the late 90's. There's no such thing as ‘diagnosing kids with mental illness’ unless they've got some kind of schizophrenia that really makes them act out. Parents had little to no information about mental health, let alone autism and how it manifests in children. Rough times but that's how they were.
-Growing up lonely, Larry found his refuge in drawing and writing silly little cartoon stories. Solo hobbies are extremely common in the autistic spectrum, especially when they come in package with die-hard fixations/ obsessions.
-Sensorial sensibility: he can’t stand bright lights in his basement. That’s why he always keeps a small desk lamp on and nothing else to see around him.
-In school, he did poorly. The motto was: it’s either you’re the only one who gets it and nobody else does OR everybody else gets it and you’re the only one who doesn’t. No way in between these two.
-The internal struggle of 'Why am I like this? Why do they hate me? What's wrong with me?' never left his brain. Now, communication was absolutely required no matter if he liked it or not. That's school, you're supposed to answer stuff, use your brains to solve problems and get through the day.
-Firstly, he did what his autistic mind told him to do.. he went fully fucking honest and blunt. With every occasion when he got asked about something, he innocently pointed out everything that bothered him/ seemed wrong or annoying without any fucking filter whatsoever. Needless to say, his true-nature approach didn’t escape punishment. His mother was called, the teachers complained that he’s ‘too mean and arrogant’ , ‘never focused’ , ‘too lazy and selfish’ etc. Everything while Larry looked like a fucking deer in the highlights telling his mom that he didn't do nothing wrong.
-When he finally understood that ‘being honest’ wasn't the key for normal human-communication, that's when his mind began searching for other ways to go by.
-Masking-
Masking was the second option.
-He watched, heard, studied, learned and taught himself the Fine Arts of mimicking normal human response in social situations. Now, that's how he mostly made it work.
-As a chill but tragically misunderstood child, he had finally learned how to make friends. It started with Ash and Maple (alternative music and general outcasts) and later in middle-school, Ash presented him to Todd. (Now, I'd rant about Rob and their 'brother from another mother' dynamic and friendship but that's for another long post if any of you are interested)
-When his father abruptly disappeared from the family frame, it just.... made everything ten thousand times worse for Larry (This is gonna be another post if you're interested)
-All in all, now with a select group of friends he’s still aloof, weird, too loud or too quiet sometimes BUT at least he’s not alone and miserable anymore.
Normally, he's a laid back dude, a stoner (autism and substance abuse is another headache of a post..) a metalhead and maybe just a little delinquent sometimes after 8 pm because of teenage rebellion and all that stuff.
-His ‘masking act’ falls sometimes when he talks about painting, video games, music and basically everything that interests him. Asperger in boys is a lot different than in girls. Girls tend to keep their ‘masking act’ better than boys as boys often don't realize when they slip and start talking miles and miles about their favorite hobbies/ subjects without noticing if the person they're talking to completely loses their interest or gets angry for being talked over and interrupted all the time.
His friends find him a bit annoying at times cause… fuck, who like being talked over? but they’re so used to him that it’s just common and gets easily forgotten.
-When the sudden chronic-insomnia hit him, the fatigue and lethargy didn't go unnoticed by Lisa. Finally, she managed to drag him to a doctor that surprisingly or not, completely missed to diagnose him with autism. The shrink blamed his insomnia on weed (another rant here) and …. ADHD?. Larry took the classic DSM-4 test (oh boy, gotta love the 90′s..) it came back negative on symptoms, confirming everybody that he didn't have ADHD. (Now, I know that the two behavioral illnesses often came in package but with Larry it wasn't the case) After that, nobody did anything.
-Now, he lives freely his teenage years hanging out with Sal, regularly smoking weed, getting deeply offended by the un-true belief that he might have ADHD, still trying to figure out what's actually wrong with him that no shrink or DSM could tell and ultimately enjoying his hobbies and little shenanigans him and his best amigo do.
-The ‘masking act’ has long become an automatic behavior, an unconscious switch for normal social situations so, now he’s most definitely not aware that he’s doing it.
Sal highly suspects him of being autistic due to the fact that he had far more contacts with doctors and psychiatrists in his entire life that he knows VERY WELL the red flags or autistic behaviors. That and because of their first interaction when Larry was like ‘Sup, you like metal? You GOTTA like metal!’ it screams autism from a fucking mile.
This post is embarrassingly LONG and useless.. and I'll shut the fuck up now for real. BUT If anyone feels like asking questions or going deeper down this rabbit hole, feel free to text me <3 as I love waffling about psychology and pretty much anything lol.
Sorry for my bad English, I did my best in trying to explain all that's written above. These are just some of my little silly headcanons and possibly?? more in-depth explanations for some of the things that go on in my SF fanfic.

Remembering one time I was on Pinterest and saw someone get mad with the dynamic of Eda and King, they said that they didn't like how Eda treated King like her son cause it was a "borning and generic troupe" and it would've been better if they just stayed "crime partners", your thoughts on this?
?????? King and Eda were never crime partners to begin with????
Sure, Eda was a criminal, but like, the only real crime Eda committed was not joining a coven...that's it. She and King never did things like rob banks, rob stores etc. And saying that the found family dynamic between the two is bad because it's a "boring and generic trope" is just...
...sure, found family is a trope that's been done a lot, but it's a trope that can be done really well and TOH does do it really well. So...ya, this sounds like a bad take to me.

Your opinion on if Sam was a girl but Dean was still a guy, how that would affect the Winchester family dynamics? (Especially between the siblings but I think John's approach would also be important.)
love this question because i think about it every day every night obsessively ummm.. w regards to the family dynamic i feel like jo is one of the only models spn canonically gives of a young, female hunter that also includes some detail of her upbringing. we know that mary was a capable hunter and was raise in the family business, but john doesn’t know this. we know that jo shows a keen interest in hunting, but is often kept at home to work at the bar for “her safety”.
i feel that sam’s canonical role in the series plays well with this dynamic: dean and john are more involved in the physical realm of hunting, training/fighting/etc. girl sam would be (similar to canon sam) much more involved with the research side of things, which may frustrate her more than canon!sam. yes, sam wants to be normal and thinks his upbringing robbed him of a typical life, but also— sam does enjoy hunting! i imagine that girlsam would feel very stifled and annoyed by any restriction placed on her involvement with hunts. although, i will say i think john would be much less restrictive with sam than ellen is with jo. sam is an extremely capable hunter, gender roles be damned, and john is (regardless of intent) known for gambling with the odds occasionally when it comes to his children’s safety (see shtriga episode). but at the same time, any girl-child of john winchester is immediately a mary effigy and he will not lose her twice.
i honestly think dean would be more of the perpetrator of trying to “keep sam out of harms way”, at least when they are in their teens. dean’s look-out-for-sammy disease is already terminal and with added complicated gender dynamics i think his head would probably explode. dean would probably be the one insisting that sam is never out of his sight (mr. the night my brother went to college was the worst night of my life lmao).
i think the biggest difference would be the very real threat of sexual violence (not that sam and dean don’t canonically deal with sexual violence! but just on another level); both on the job and from other hunters. i think this would tip the dynamic slightly in a way that would make sam a lot more sheltered than we see in canon. dean is probably the worst, most annoying older brother. sam is never going on a date, and if she is, dean is literally camped out in the back of the movie theater watching like a hawk. like she is never getting the normal high school experience bless her heart. their bizarre and psychosexual codependency would reach neil jordan borgia levels.
also everything about sam would just be turned up to 10 by misogyny. our salad eating, diet coke drinking, telekinetic, yellow wallpaper, sylvia plath loving, sad girl, rosemarys baby coded, blood-drinking, psychic, getting-groomed-by-demons, #1 live through this by hole fan, baby girl would be fully actualized by girlsam.

Idk why this came to mind but
Any Huitzilopochtli-Coyolxauhqui sibling dynamic hcs?
I feel like everyone forgets Coyolxauhqui is Huitzilopochtli's sister...
HULLO. YES.
first of all. i invite you to peruse my Huitzilopochtli hc's here,, and if you are interested, also, shameless self-plug, but my visual hc's for Huitzilopochtli and Coyolxauhqui on the 2nd page (just a rough sketch ehehe but that's what i imagine!)
now.
Coyolxauhqui is the older sibling. as per the lore, Coyolxauhqui also has 400 younger brothers, the stars; the Centzonhuītznāhua.
i think, to understand Coyolxauhqui's fight with Huitzilopochtli, we have to imagine what life was like BEFORE Huitzilopochtli was born.
and i hc that Coyolxauhqui was actually quite lovely. i think she had one of those subtle smiles... not bursting out into laughter, but she'd smirk a lot and her younger brothers' antics.
i think she has razor sharp wits-- she's quick to give out witty retorts and they're GOOD.
being the older sibling of ANY family is a tough role to play-- many look up to you and you have to look after all your younger siblings. but now Coyolxauhqui has 400 YOUNGER SIBLINGS, all brothers--- i think life was pretty hectic for her.
she had to be stern and tough so that she could help her mother raise all of them.
there isn't any mention of who Coyolxauhqui's father is, but we must assume she had one since she was so furious at the method by which Huitzilopochtli was born (more on that later), but Coatlicue, her mother, is mentioned as being the wife of Mixcoatl, so i think it seems reasonable to hc him as Coyolxauhqui's father also.
now, Mixcoatl is the god of the hunt, and i think he may have taught Coyolxauhqui and her brothers a lot about fighting and hunting... i think they would all be quite good at it.
however, being the god of the hunt, i hc Mixcoatl to be away from home a lot of the time.... i think in those times, Coyolxauhqui would bond a lot with her mother, them being the only two women in the family.
as a result, i imagine Coyolxauhqui to have utmost admiration and respect for her mother. she is like; the role model of all time to Coyolxauhqui. she does everything correctly, the way the law writes things should be.
everything is PERFECT.
UNTIL. the feather-ball incident.
and that completely shatters Coyolxauhqui's image of a perfect mother. she sees it as the ultimate dishonour... in Coyolxauhqui's mind, this child conceived between the feathers and her mother is not even her sibling at all.... it's just an abomination. something which, as the eldest, it is her duty to be rid of.
that's how i think, Coyolxauhqui becomes cold and mean... fixated on only one thing; the destruction of her mother and her unholy child.
i have a soft spot for characters who uphold the law so deeply that they will even hurt their family if it means keeping their "honour".. and i think Coyolxauhqui is exactly that.
for Huitzilopochtli, his whole childhood is robbed from him due to Coyolxauhqui's attack.... he literally never gets the time to grow up and just be a kid the way Coyolxauhqui and her brothers had... i think he can be very awkward and unsociable a lot of the time because he never had siblings to play with, to share with, to laugh with... and i think that makes him grumpy most of the time. it's just one battle after the other with no break.
so in a way, Huitzilopochtli is actually sooo similar to Coyolxauhqui.
if not for the fighting, they would have been the perfect siblings.
as for Coatlicue. i think her heart simply breaks to see her children fighting. i don't hc her to hate Coyolxauhqui; she always will remain her child... there is a myth where Huitzilopochtli places Coyolxauhqui's head in the sky which becomes the moon so that Coatlicue might see her daughter every day. so that tells me she didn't hate her.
Huitzilopochtli also-- i think he would stop fighting if Coyolxauhqui did.... he only fights to survive.
as a final note; in the myths, Huitzilopochtli chops Coyolxauhqui's head off... but i like the idea that he cuts her head off, and then her head re-attaches or at least regrows, so that they are perpetually locked in a battle; a mirror of Ra's fight with Apep, if you get what im saying!
perhaps her brothers recover her head for her... in any case, i like the idea of Coyolxauhqui having a scar at the base of her neck from the number of times her head has been lopped off by Huitzilopochtli.

🎹 💀🍎 for Azi 👁👁
AZI! For reference, this is Azi, full name Aziraphale Page (soon to be Aziraphale Page-Pearce). Basically I gave danwil an ambiguously gendered bird child. They use any pronouns so go crazy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now to the questions!
🎹 - Do they have any hobbies?
Wilson has probably played the violin for them, and they've probably asked him to teach them, so they probably play violin. Actually between the 2 of them, Azi used to be the only one that played the violin, but I also liked the image of Wilson playing the violin, so now there's 2 motherfuckers who woefully play the violin when they wanna angst.
Unironically probably enjoys reading. Not like as book connoisseur, but like. Just reading. For fun. She'll sit on and armchair and read the newspaper like an old man and go "Ah yes. Peak entertainment."
She does the usual Hogwarts shenanigans such as duelling, going into the forbidden forest, making a club to ship your teachers with, the works!
Lastly, he probably also cooks fairly well due to Daniel's influence.
This is all prone to change aince Azi isn't as well established of a character compared to Wilson yet, but thats what I have on them at the moment! :]
💀 - Does your OC have any phobias?
Again, core character aspect I haven't thought through that well yet. However.
She probably has a very strong dislike of the feeling of not being in control/having no agency. (Like father like son amirite guys kekeke—)
Basically intheir Traumatic Backstory™, they're robbed of their personal agency, denied of their humanity, played as a puppet. So after escaping that, she'll definitely place a huge importance in being in control. Thus they'd probably have a really deep-rooted hate of the prospect of being pulled along a string/being caged/being used. This sort of manifest in an interesting matter since they end up coming off as manipulative themselves. As a little kid it's more them bossing around their 'minions' so they can make their favorite teacher slash canon but it probably gets a little more concerning with age. Nothing that bad though. Probably.
I phrase it more as something she hates rather than something she fears, but I feel like she just hates it more than she fears it. It's something she's willing and ready to face, even if scary.
So, for something she fears more than she hates: Showing vulnerability to someone she trusts, but getting that vulnerability taken advantage of.
🍎 - What is the OC's relationship w/ their parents like?
Very close and very good! Because Daniel as a single father who is also a good father is super sexy.
Ok but in all seriousness, they love Daniel lots. They're extremely grateful for him since he's the one to save them from their abusive situation, so she's uber protective of him and wants to return the favor of Daniel taking her in and caring for her. In the "Hey! Only I'm allowed to talk shit about my Dad!" kinda way. She thinks Daniel's a bit overbearing (and to be fair, he is) but she'd sooner peck your eyes out for so much as breathing at him funny than hating him for it.
They have that Parent Trying to be Strict and In Control vs Silly Shithead Asshole Kid kind of dynamic going on basically.
With """""Uncle Wilson"""""" who is definitely not having a decade long will-they-won't-they dance with Daniel that Azi definitely doesn't see at all, they're a menace as a pair. A pain in Daniel's ass. And face. They've drawn on his face countless time while he's asleep. They're also a pain to house, having nearly burned his kicthen down multiple times.
Wilson is more or less the fun """""uncle""""" to them and she lets her get away with things Daniel doesn't. He's basically a second father to her and a part of the family. And in fact she will get him into the family by making him marry her dad. Modern problems require modern solutions.

A Reflection on Stelle and the Stellaron Hunters
This piece was long overdue, but since I started talking about Stelle and her ties to the Hunters, I figured I might as well go in depth on her thoughts on them now. I'll go in order of appearance: Kafka, Silver Wolf, Blade, Sam, and Elio.
The first, and probably most significant, relation is obviously with Kafka. I've seen a multitude of portrayals with respect to the dynamic between Kafka and Stelle, but I can very confidently say that my Stelle hates Kafka. She wants absolutely nothing to do with Kafka, and the truth is that Kafka terrifies her. Almost all of it stems from her deep-rooted fear of losing her autonomy, something that I've talked about here. She knows what Kafka is capable of, she's seen it with her own eyes multiple times, and the knowledge that Kafka has the full capacity to just erase (or at least block) her memories and has done so haunts her. She's so incredibly conflicted about that too, because on the one hand she likes who she is, she doesn't want to ever remember a time when she was affiliated with the Stellaron Hunters, but at the same time it kills her to know that a part of her has effectively been... robbed. It's a constant tug-of-war between her desire to know more about herself and her refusal to let Kafka have any sort of leverage over her -- something she questions regularly as Kafka seems to know each and every step she takes, thanks to Elio (more on them later). She wishes deeply that Kafka would stop acting so warmly toward her. Any and all friendliness towards her is met with very strong hostility, borderline aggression at that.
Silver Wolf, on the other hand, is someone she actually... is okay with. Someone she could almost call a friend. She doesn't know how to feel about that, but Silver Wolf has made her stance on things pretty clear: she just wants to have fun. Their shared love of gaming is something that Stelle can get behind, and I do imagine that Silver Wolf fully earned Stelle's respect during the Aetherium Wars. Is she curious about Silver Wolf's past? ...Yes, I'd say so. But she hesitates to ask, because the thought of such a topic turning to her own history with the Stellaron Hunters is a frightening one. She... can't deny that a lot of her curiosity about their dynamic stems from Silver Wolf constantly talking about the others. She wonders what her relationship with Silver Wolf was like, too. Were they gaming buddies in the past too? Is that why she's comfortable with Silver Wolf? ...The thought makes her a little sad sometimes.
When it comes to Blade, the real complications in her feelings hit full force. Blade is scary. Blade is dangerous, an unknown, a threat, a symbol of harm to her friends and family. ...Blade is safety. Blade is reliable. Blade trained her. She even takes more after him than Kafka in terms of personality. Stelle's agreement to help Kafka in her companion mission wasn't for Kafka, it was entirely borne from both her desire to find out more information to help Dan Heng and her want to ease his suffering, because nobody deserves torment like that -- even if she didn't fully understand why she felt such compassion for him at the time. The few times he spoke to her in private, and especially at the end of Kafka's companion mission, when he called her young one, she did feel young. She felt so horribly small. The sensation came with such agony, because that sense of security, no matter how fleeting, feels like a direct betrayal of Dan Heng every single time. Her guilt surrounding this tears her up inside every single time. I think... Blade is probably the one that Stelle could sit quietly with the most, and she does not know at all how to come to terms with this.
There's not much on Sam publicly (yet. wiggles my fingers at 2.0. i know what you are) but I think that Stelle doesn't remember Sam at all. It was VERY alarming to get that emoji spam from Blade's phone from Sam, but at the same time Stelle found it... cute. Charming in a way that Stelle doesn't entirely trust. At the present moment, she's very unsure what to think of Sam, but that'll be subject to change very soon! Currently, though, she places Sam in a similar sphere to Silver Wolf just based on preliminary vibes.
-rubs hands- Elio.
An enigma to her in everything but name, Elio is probably the person that Stelle is the second most scared of -- second to Kafka only because Kafka has had a real and direct impact on her life, while Elio remains this nebulous entity spoken of more like a myth than anything else. Would she be curious to meet Elio? ...She doesn't know. She doesn't think so. On the one hand, there's no doubt that they could easily answer any questions she has, but on the other, fate as a concept is something she so strongly stands again. There's no doubt in her mind that an encounter with Elio would leave her feeling worse than she did beforehand. But at the same time, there's an inherent desire to confront them, find out what they have in store for her, prove them wrong. I think she'd like to surprise Elio in that regard. There's definitely a sense of defiance accompanying her wariness about them. I believe even if an encounter with Elio were to go badly for Stelle, it'd fuel her determination to see things through, her way. I'm waiting on more info about Elio to say more!!
That's pretty much the thick and thin of it so far. I crave more Stellaron Hunter content aaaaaaaaa. More of her thoughts on Sam will be shared following Penacony's release! I'm looking forward to it \o/

I've been thinking a lot the past couple of days about the friendships of Stranger Things, especially the teen/adolescent group, and how people just come together with no problems, avoiding the personal conflicts that should come up. The major problem is that unlike the kids who were friends before, the teens are only together because of trauma and romance instead of friendship. The initial trio, which is the basis, didn't like each other before. Steve and Nancy were not friends. They were romantically interested in each other. Jonathan and Steve hated each other, Nancy and Jonathan were sorta friends, but not really. So that's already complicated and not ideal because Steve and Jonathan still didn't like each other after everything, and then Nancy left Steve for Jonathan, which left Steve alone until he found Robin. So that's the core dynamic of the older kids group. And because there is not enough time in the show, we get a watered-down version of those characters working together to save the world. Sometimes, they even act OOC just so we can focus more on the overall plot. You know when you watch a scene and you go no, they wouldn't say that or no, they wouldn't do that? That's how I felt the majority of time for s4. And as much as I love the found family trope and I understand why people just want everyone to get along, I genuinely believe the teen group realistically would dislike each other. And I need more fics exploring that lmao.
Stranger Things really robbed us by not giving us 20 episodes to develop characters and explore their complicated feelings to others. Like 3/6 (7 if you count Vickie) have beef with each other, there is just too much tension between Steve and Jancy it would totally affect the others. I also think if we had more time, those groups could venture out and meet more people who later become their friends. Like I'm curious about Nancy's two friends that were mentioned in s2, it would be nice seeing the main characters outside the group interacting with others. People act like the teens can only find friends within their little circle.
(Disclaimer: This is not a dig on any character, I just find it interesting exploring dynamics like this. Like give me the drama)
Steve wouldn't want to hang out with Jancy. He is still hung up on Nancy, and it hurts him to watch them together. Between seasons, they already don't hang out because why should they. And when Steve finds out or realizes Nancy let him in the belief that he was the only one who was wrong in their relationship despite the major reason for her to break up was she wanted to be with Jonathan for a long time, I think Steve, I wouldn't say he would be pissed, but he would definitely be hurt when it clicks. His entire world view would shatter, like his love life already suffers because he thinks he was a bad boyfriend, so he developed attachment issues and trust issues (hence the serial dating in s4). Nancy really did a number on him, and he never got closure from her, and we still see the aftermath years later. I also don't see Jonathan and Steve be best buddies because of that. Jonathan just doesn't want to be friends with his girlfriend's ex, who potentially still has feelings for her. Same with Nancy, why would she want to hang out with her ex, who is clearly hurting because he is still into her.
It's also implied that Jancy shit talks about Steve behind his back in s4, by Jonathan bringing up the Steve comment unprompted to make Nancy laugh, and he was genuinely shocked when she didn't this time. I mean, they don't really care about Steve's feelings. They slept together 2 days after the Stancy fight and never showed remorse for it. I genuinely don't see them being bffs, lol. I also don't see Jancy wanting to stay in touch with the others, especially Nancy, who just wants to move forward, go to college, and heal from the past few years. Her ex and his bff would be unpleasant reminders. If Jancy breaks up, both of them would go their own ways. Nothing would hold them in Hawkins. Jonathan would still have Argyle, and Nancy would make new friends at university, but both wouldn't really stay in touch with the others.
The whole monster hunting trio had so much potential to become friends if the show hadn't done Stancy and Jancy. But I can't ignore it and if they make Stonathan friends in the last season, idk if I want this because too much happened between them, it would seem ooc for both to want to spend time together outside of the UD shit.
Robin would be on Steve side. If he wasn't cool with Jancy, she wouldn't be cool with them either. She's your ride or die buddy. If you hate someone, she's like no WE hate them. Robin is also a person who would hate people for Steve, like him still trying to be civil towards Jancy because of his feelings for Nancy, but Robin is like no fuck that you hurt my bff you're on my list, I'm side-eying you. She would encourage Steve to move on by not interacting with them all together. After he receives closure, he should move forward.
With Eddie, I don't think he would vibe with Jancy either. Jonathan wouldn't like Eddie being obnoxious and loud. Yes, he might agree with him at some points, but Jonathan hates the attention, and Eddie loves it. If you think Jonathan would be at his side when he gives his little speeches during lunchtime, no way. Same with Nancy, as soon as she sees Eddie climbing that table, she immediately goes the other way. She would pretend not to know this man. Eddie's personality is too loud for Nancy to handle over time. Maybe I'm projecting on her a bit here because she reminds me a bit of me. Like she's more serious and reserved, someone like Eddie would drain her quickly, and she would snap at him sooner than later. She wouldn't find his antics cute. She would be annoyed. But there wouldn't be any bad blood between them. They just would simply find each other annoying over time so they don't really hang out. Each of them has their own thing.
Eddie would rather hang out with Stobin, I think they could handle his personality better. Like they are not as serious than Jancy and could joke with him from time to time. But he also has his band mates to hang out with, so he's not around that often.
Vickie would have no hard feelings for Jancy, but because she's dating Robin and also likes Steve I think she doesn't want to make things awkward by hanging out with them.
Argyle, I think, is the only person who is absolutely cool with everyone. He is such a chill guy who doesn't care about the drama. So in the beginning, after Vecna is defeated, he would be like hey let's all get together to hang out, smoke some weed, and party to celebrate our win. Everyone would be excited at first, but slowly, they realize it was a bad idea. Steve would say some shit that would trigger Jonathan, which causes him to roll his eyes. Nancy then would maybe make a joke about Steve that has a mean undertone to it, which would set Robin off because only she is allowed to make jokes about Steve like that. All those microaggressions would compile until everything explodes. It would mostly be Jancy vs. Stobin with Eddie absolutely loving the drama and egging them on. He has the time of his life at that moment. Poor Argyle doesn't know what's happening and tries to calm them down with more weed, and Vickie just sits there, not knowing what to do but trying to talk Robin down.
Ever since that night, the group has split up and only comes together for important things, like the kids' graduating party, birthdays, weddings, etc. They would have civil conversations but mostly avoid each other. They all found their own circle over time with people they can hang out with without any drama. They would set all their differences aside if the world goes to shit again but hanging out afterward? No, thank you, lmao. They would fight literal monsters and would even die for each other, but friends no way.
The kids would try to get them together, but it's no use, sometimes things just don't work out, which is okay because people don't get along all the time. That also doesn't mean a character who hates another one is suddenly bad or the enemy. Or a character can only be good if they get along with everyone.
