Hiya Ashes!!!! Thank you not only for sending an ask, but for giving me an opportunity to chat more about my beloved. 😍 Very kind of you!
1.) What made you ship it?
I answered this a bit yesterday in a different ask from Liv, but basically some combination of Harry and Snape being my favorite characters, and the idea sort of clicking after I read a Drarry fic where Snape had the hots for Draco ("okay...Draco/Harry...Draco/Snape...but what about Harry/Snape????") After that I dived into the deep end of the Snarry pool and never came up for air. 🤣 They just clicked for me.
It's like...I don't know. I guess I love them both so much (and always did love them) for a reason, and the more I read the more it made sense. At first it was the taboo nature that appealed to me, not gonna lie. The age difference, the student/teacher, the love/hate, the angst. There were so many darkness and grittiness and angstiness in those earlier fics that simply sang to my soul. I was so young (11) when I discovered it, so I don't think I was rationalizing it back then, but over time it just...I saw more of their similarities and how they fit together and how they worked together. I saw all the ways they could clash and and fight and break, and mold and mend and heal. All they ways they could be each other's strength, and weakness. The ways they could make each other better, and make each other worse. The ways they could hurt each other, the ways they could fulfill each other.
Typing that all out reminded me of a song that always gave me Snarry feels:

2.) What are your favorite things about the ship?

First of all, they're soulmates. No, I am not accepting criticism at this time.
The stag and doe patronuses???? Helloooo. Meant to be.

The "wrongness" of it between the age gap, the power imbalance, and Harry being the savior while Severus is a spy (and ex-Death Eater.) Not to mention all the complicated ties and baggage with Snape's ex best friend being Lily and his school bullies were James (the father) and Sirius (the godfather.) Imagine an AU where everyone lives...even if Severus never was a Death Eater, or Harry's professor, how much drama would ensue just from those ties alone???? SO MUCH AND I LOVE IT.
Harry's fame and Severus' infamy. How everyone will always hero-worship Harry and see him through rose-colored glasses while Severus is feared and/or hated by so many people (particularly his pupils.) The popularity/unpopularity alone would raise so many eyebrows and raise so many questions.
I love their flaws. Severus being such a snarky bastard, and Harry being a sassmaster. Severus being so temperamental and rude and strict and proud. Harry being reckless and a bit self-righteous and pretty hot-headed himself. They're both rather intense and obsessive. Even their physical flaws do things to me. Harry's wild hair and his knobby knees. Severus' hooked nose and greasy hair.
I love their virtues, too. I often wax poetic about flaws, but the good stuff is just as nice! They're both curious, and passionate, and bold. They're both intelligent in their own ways, Severus more academic and Harry with more intuitive, gut-knowledge. Severus being so skilled in the mental realm, Harry in the physical. The ways those different intelligences complement each other and balance each other. They're both magically skilled and powerful. They love both love magic. They're both a bit adventurous, Severus with his experimentation and invention, Harry with his quests and sneaking. They're both very strong, and brave. They both overcame so much hardship in life, from their younger years and onward, neither of them really catching much of a break. They both played such vital roles in the war. They were both used as tools and weapons in the war effort, seen more for their use than personal, individual value. They were both determined to help and win and do what was right. Both were willing to die for the cause (and did.) They're both loyal, devoted, determined men.
They can see themselves in each other, for better and worse. And once they break down the walls between them, those parts of them can meet and blend and work together.
Best of all...for two men who were once seen as worthless, as targets, and later valued for their usefulness, all the joy they can find in being seen for themselves, and accepted and understood and even loved for those things. And how two men who suffered so much finding love and joy and fulfillment in one another. And I love to imagine their future together, totally obsessed with each other, challenging each other, and growing together. Traveling, maybe, with Severus foraging for material and studying new things while Harry explores new places and hobbies and meets new people. Their individual goals aligning, giving them space, but also a place to meet, and all the things they can respect in one another.
3.) Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Hmmm!! Nothing I have a problem with regarding Snarry, but maybe my preferences can cause issues! See, I really like the more questionable parts of their dynamic. I like the underage stuff, I like the student/teacher. I love dub-con and angst. I dig the toxic relationship vibes. I dig the love/hate. I love the fighting and the tension. I love them when they're mean. I love it dark and gritty and awful. I love the weird stuff. I have an undying devotion to "ugly" Snape. (Better explained: here.) (Sorry for all the extra suggested reading LOL.) I like other characters having negative reactions to the relationship.
For all the "issues" I need there to be love deep down, and passion. I need them to be absolutely bonkers for each other, even if they handle it badly.
I've had some of my favorite stories and depictions come under fire before but a gal likes what she likes, what can I say 🤷♀️
(....sorry for talking your eyeballs off 🤣 But idk what anyone can expect when getting me going about Snarry!)

All the Barbie protagonists I know -from best to worst
I feel like starting with a disclaimer that this is just my opinion, which should be implied. Anyway, this list took forever because I kept switching them. Look I am bad at picking favourites. The top 3 is actually pretty interchangable.
1. Eden Starling (Barbie in a Christmas Carol) - I love her with all my heart and then some. I love her design, her backstory, her personality, how unique she is from every other Barbie on the list. (Whoever came up with Barbie as Scrroge is a genius that deserves an Oscar) The fact that I relate to her in some aspects makes her even more loveable in my eyes. Also I think she deserves #1 spot because out of all the characters on this list she's the one I sorted before even rewatching her movie -and the rewatch confirmed the sorting. She's that memorable!
2. Princess Annika (Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus) - I love her too: her determination,her cleverness, her bravery, her justified anger. The "Destroy Wenlock!" speech alone guaranteed her a place in top 3. The fact that she doesn't back down even in the face of impossible odds - or maybe especially because the odds are impossible, her relationship with Aiden and with Brietta and her passion for ice-skating make her a very interesting character. Annika is a powerhouse and her entire journey is *chef's kiss*.
3. Merliah Summers (Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 1&2) - I think what I love about Merliah is that she put herself first, in both movies. Her first priority was her career as a surfer and only later did she come to accept her role as a mermaid princess. Her relationship with her mother is also great, I love them when they get along and I also love them when they don't - probably my favourite mother-daughter relationship from all the Barbie movies. Merliah's initial skepticism, her putside the box thinking and her competitive streak are delightful. Also her and Kylie might my favourite ship in the Barbieverse.
4. Blair Willows (Barbie Princess Charm School) - A Barbie with actual money problems?! Of course I was soft for Blair from the very begining. Her dedication and love to her adoptive family made her an instant fave. I loved that once Dean Privet helped her with her lessons she did her damn best to graduate from the school. She had her clothes torn, was accused of theft and looked in a safe, yet nothing stopped her.
5. Mariposa (Barbie: Mariposa) - I always had a soft spot for her as a kid. Her desire for adventure -for escape- the way she felt like she didn't quite fit in, her love for books, the somehow-anti-social attitude made her a perfectly relatable character in little!me's eyes. The way she refused to believe the rumors and the stereotypes in the second movie makes her even better. I loved her friendship with Catania and her romance with Carlos was cute too. Also her design might be my second favourite after Eden's.
6. Ro/Princess Rosella (Barbie as The Island Princess) - This movie is a goddamn masterpiece and Ro is a huge part of why. First I cannot help but be impressed by how adaptable she is: not only did she survive on a deserted island for ten years, she thrived. And then she had the courage to leave the only home she knew to go with Antonio and find answers about who she is. My heart ')). Then there is the fact that she risled her own freedom to help save the animals or how she was ready to step back and let Antonio do his duty and marry Luciana despite the fact that she loved him. And the ending wjere she finds her mother and starts singing the lullaby? It is what had cemented my love for this film and this character.
7. Corrine (Barbie in the three Musketeers) - In a lot of ways I find her and Merliah very similar -they both have goals they want to achieve and are somehow selfish because of it in the begining- but I think Corrine is a much kinder person: remember when she got that violin bow for one of the girls as a way to apologize? It felt like such a character establishing moment. I love that she took no shit for anyone, even the prince, and never faltered for one second in her desire to be a musketeer.
8. Princess Genevieve (Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses) - In a lot of ways she reminds me of Blair as she's a quieter personality but forceful in her own way. The way she always stood up for her younger sisters, her love for dancing, her relationship with her father and the fact that she was so heart-eyes when it came to Derek -seriously I don't think any other Babrie was so smitten with her LI from the very first moment- made sure she'll have a place in top 10. The only reason why she's not higher is because I love the others more.
9. Princess Annelisse (Barbie as Princess and the Pauper) - I think my favourite thing about Annelisse is that she completely understood her duties as a princess and was ready to sacrifice her personal happiness for her people. I also really like how she never shied from using her royal status- even if it didn't really work- or how she still tried to help the other taylor with the work when she was thought to be Erica, pity she had zero skill. Her relationship with her mom is my second favourite after Merliah-Calissa. Also collecting rocks is such an unique hobby AND she's a cat girl. Of course I love her.
10. Erika (Barbie as Princess and the Pauper) - Another cat girl! And so snippy and unafraid to be herself. Her dynamic with Annelisse is gold: Erika had all the reasons to despise Annelisse but instead clearly ~bonded with her from the very first moment and went along with an insane plan just to help her. Not to mention, she's the first Barbie who explicitly said "I am gonna fulfill my dreams and have the guy I love; what's this nonsense about choosing only one?" and I have to appreciate her for it.
11. Rapunzel (Barbie as Rapunzel) - The fact alone that she is best friends with a dragon gives her major points in my books. Her love of painting and the way she used it as a literal way of escape? Go, girl! The fact that she refused to let Stefan tell her his name just to make sure Gothel won't find out? Impressive and so spiteful! And the disgust in her voice when she realized Gothel had kept her prisoner for years because her father hadn't married her? Perfect.
12. Kristyn Farraday (Barbie in the Pink Shoes) - I really liked her enthusiasm for getting to actually be the characters she didn't even get to dance in the real world, the way her mind immediately internalized the rules of the fairytale-esque world despite how insane it was and how she refused to conform to the rules. I see the movie as an exploration of Kristyn's creepling fear of failure and the pressure she felt as a proffesional ballet dancer and seeing her come out triumphant on her own terms felt really good.
13. Actress!Barbie (Fashion Fairytale and Fairy Secret) - Probably the most three-dimensional of the "real" Barbies. I think what I like most at her is her determination to save Ken in the second movie. What can I say, I love a Barbie-in-shining-armour. I also like that she knew when to step back and let others do their jobs - in fact she doesn't so much in the first movie, just motivates people. If I had to pick a Barbie to have as a friend, I think she'll be my first choice. She seems like a good listener and someone who knows how to solve problems.
14. Elina (Barbie: Fairytopia 1&2&3) - She is an interesting character and one whose stories I do like, but something never clicked for me when it comes to Elina. Buut, this doesn't mean I don't appreciate her desire to save everyone or how she never drowned in self-pity when she was the only fairy without wings.
15. Clara (Barbie in the Nutcracker)- Clara doesn't get the chance to do much, but I love the glimpses of her intelligence we see (how she figured out the Nutcracker is Eric) or how she longs for adventure and excitment.
16. Thumbelina (Barbie present Thumbelina) - I like that she's an inventor and that she is ready to use Mackena to save her home, but overall I found her unimpressive.
17. Liana (Barbie and the Diamond Castle) - I always had a grudge on her as a child on Alexa's behalf. I always felt like Liana dragged her down. This being said, Liana is still a super smart cookie and very devoted to her friends so she avoids being even lower on the list.
18. Princess Lumina (Barbie: Pearl Princess) - The most memorable things about her are how she loooved having a job and how she refused to condemn the woman that may have raised her but had also kidnapped her from her family. Now both these traits should make her an intriguing character, unfortunately the movie is pretty boring and it never taps into Lumina's potential.
19. Princess Alexa (Barbie and the Secret Door) - Look I relate to her: Lover of books? Check. Desire to escape your life full of rules? Check. Not good with people? Check. But Alexa's development was so weird, the movie was very boring and felt like it had no trajectory and it affected the protagonist a lot.
20. Odette (Barbie in Swan Lake) - She just...doesn't do much. I wish we have seen her more involved in her own story. Not to mention I really didn't understand why she was so afraid of being in the spotlight or how being turned into a swan helped her get over it.
21. Starlight!Barbie (Barbie: Star Light Adventures) - I think my opinion of her -and the whole movie- can be summed up in the world "meh". There is simply no spark of life here.
22. Teen!Barbie (Barbie Diaries) - I have such an overwhelming repulsion towards "unpopular" girls wanting the be popular. Especially since I cannot see what exactly is holding Babrie back from being happy? She seems to have everything (great friends, nice life, good grades and music talent!), but doesn't care about any of it. Not to mention, she's the only Barbie who has to settle for a guy that was pining for her while she only saw him as a friend and I resent that.

favorite thing about them: his passion for books, knowledge and culture! i find him very inspiring in this sense! he's so books-mart! and the fact that he can recite poems by heart? wow!
least favorite thing about them: he's not objective at all, he tends to be very biased and a bit judgemental :(( however, he doesn't have bad intentions and by the end of the book, you can see how much his opinion about the world and people shift!
favorite line: this is not exactly a line he says, but i cannot not choose this line, “Suddenly it wasn't only a personal thing to me. I could picture hundreds and hundreds of boys living on the wrong sides of cities, boys with black eyes who jumped at their own shadows. Hundreds of boys who maybe watched sunsets and looked at stars and ached for something better. I could see boys going down under street lights because they were mean and tough and hated the world, and it was too late to tell them that there was still good in it, and they wouldn't believe you if you did.”
brOTP: johnny and pony's friendship will always be one of my favorite things ever in the outsiders. also, i think two-bit and him together are unstoppable and a force of sheer energy! i love their dynamics!
OTP: you already know what i think about this 💞
nOTP: i must admit id dind't like purly at all at first, however, i did get used to it as i got more and more into the fandom! right now, i really dislike when he's shipped with randy or bob for various reasons.
random headcanon: he grows up to be the tallest at home, and loves taunting his older brothers and pretend he cannot see them because they're too small. he gets one tattoo in his life, and it's the word 'gold' in johnny's handwriting (he has to go through johnny's school notebook to find all the letters and put them together)
unpopular opinion: i feel like pony wouldn't actually major in english or literature if he went to college after the events of the book. i feel like he would enjoy something more mathematical, specially some kind of engineering career. i do think he would still write and enjoy books, and that with time, he would actually publish his own works. i just think that his education wouldn't actually be centered around that (he was about to flunk english, let's not forget that!)

Unpopular opinion and headcanon in regards to Phil and his relations with Alfred and Tonio
I can actually see Spain and America relationship to Philippines as a toxic PARENTAL (not lovers, can not ship them sorry) type. And that he still sees them, mostly America, as "dad" even in modern era.
Hear me out, I am a Filipino from Panay... We have a family oriented culture. No matter HOW abusive, how TOXIC a parent can be, we are always told by our peers, relatives and even strangers that we should forgive them, because they are our parents.
Some actually do forgive and somehow it is a happily ever after sweeping up the bad shit under the rug and forget who made those mental scars, physical scars and even emotional. (Watch some mmk documentaries, it is a drama biography series that reenacts stories from those living here in the Philippines).
Filial piety is important here in Asia after all... And to be honest, I can see an analogy of the US-PH relations as a toxic parent and child, which the child develops some sort of stockholm dependency to cope and to survive.
You have to admit we have colonial mentality.
Idk what Hima plans but I prefer parental type like Emil and Sadiq... Even though the relations for Iceland and Turkey is base on those pirates kidnapping Icelandic people. *shrug*
In some (idk other countries but I see this culture even abroad) Asian cultures :/ it is the kid who has to forgive the parents, not the parents who has to apologize.
I can see Hetalia America is a good guy in his pov, unaware his actions is too toxic and Philippines at first is mad but goes "but he never excludes me from learning his language, getting new stuff etc unlike what he did" and tries to rationalize that Alfred is really a good "parent" and trying to forget what had happened.
Not helping the fact Alfred meddles in his affairs like a copter parent.

BUT the crux of the matter is that Pinas is trying to RATIONALIZE how Alfred is better. Gaslight, stockholm etc.
I mean, how does one translate the whole Colonial Mentality and the Well done dad trope to country personifcations.
Fyi tho :/ I am not sure even if Spain was better tbh, because of the whole rose tinted glasses and let us not forget about that bs Magellan and Elcano movie.

RYUJI! Ryuji is so nice to Mishima. He always tries to make him feel included, invites him to hangout, and defended him when they found out he had a shadow. He knows what Mishima went through, and he doesn’t make fun of or judge him like a lot of the other main characters. Even though Mishima didn’t want to be friends at first (which I have two reasons why that may be. I’ll elaborate if someone asks), you can tell they’ve become pretty close through their interactions during culture festival.

None. He and Shiho are cute, but I don’t necessarily ship them.

There is no way this kid isn’t rich in the future. He made the PhanSite in a few days & even had ADVERTISEMENTS already there before the phantom thieves even decided to continue being the phantom thieves. He’s amazing at PR and currently working on a documentary. When Mishima is passionate about something, he goes all out.
I KNOW he’s gotten in arguments about the Phantom Thieves on Reddit, Discord, Twitter, and literally any other online platform.
Unpopular Opinion
He isn’t annoying 😭
The Phantom Thieves would not have succeeded without him. Period. It took the Phantom Thieves HOURS to get to the depths of Mementos and they already explored so much of it because of the requests in the PhanSite (or rather they explored more than they would have because of the PhanSite). They may not have gotten to the depths in time if it wasn’t for him. He’s also the person who got all those people in Tokyo to cheer for the phantom thieves when they were giving up. I know if you don’t max out his social link some random guy does it, but that’s obviously not what happened in canon. They had to have someone substitute for him in the case that the player didn’t max out his social link because if he wasn’t there to do that, they would have lost. He’s also the person who convinced Ann to help Yusuke due to setting up a meeting with Nakanohara and the Phantom Thieves.
Like Akechi, Mishima does not go by his first name. I agree I wish he called the phantom thieves by their first name, but they would all call him Mishima- not Yuuki- regardless of how close they are because he doesn’t go by Yuuki. He even says so.
He deserves more credit than both the fandom and the phantom thieves give him.
I want Mishima and Ann friendship so bad. I read a fan fiction where they became friends & now it’s all I can think about-
I know ATLUS wanted him to appear as “average” but literally where??

HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS CHARACTER
This can basically be summed up as “I love him, your honour”.
I have lots of thoughts and feelings about just how damn smart Huaisang is, and always was. How the reveal of him masterminding Jin Guangyao’s downfall didn’t come out of nowhere, not when you actually looked back at everything - Huaisang displayed incredible patience and intelligence right from the start, it’s just it was never taken seriously because he didn’t apply it where people wanted and expected him to. And because of that, he was always underestimated, and told off for ‘not applying himself’ (and hell, I heard all those ‘wasted potential’ school report complaints right there), and that was what led him to be able to pull off that long-term Headshaker act in the first place.
I love how passionate he was about his interests. His incredibly close relationship with his brother and sect, and the lengths he went to for... vengeance or justice, take your pick. I think it’s a bit of both, honestly. And I adored how Fatal Journey expanded on both his character and on those relationships.
All the people I ship romantically with him
Lan Xichen is the big one, but I also really enjoy seeing him shipped with Jiang Cheng (when I’m not shipping xicheng with each other, that is).
Honestly, though, I’m a multishipper, so I’m at least open to most ship possibilities, other than a small handful of NOTPs.
My non-romantic OTP for him
Nie Mingjue. I love and adore the relationship between Huaisang and Dage, and never get tired of seeing it explored in firmly non-romantic/non-sexual ways.
Nie Zonghui. I loved the bits and pieces we saw of Huaisang and Zonghui’s relationship in Fatal Journey, and it struck me as being very much like another sibiling relationship even though they weren’t actually siblings.
And, honestly, Lan Xichen again. I love to see relationships explored as pure friendship as well as romantic shipping. I think a large part of that is that I can’t truly buy into a romantic ship unless a firm basis of friendship/respect/mutual interest has been established between the characters. To me, a good ship is one where you can take away the sex and romance, and still have an excellent and strong platonic relationship between the characters.
My unpopular opinion
Nie Huaisang is NOT effeminate or feminine-coded! Liking and being good at art, liking and keeping birds and pretty things, and not wanting to practice saber cultivation does not make him ‘girly’! He is not challenging gender norms within his text!
One thing I wish would happen / had happened in canon
So much. Because we only really saw everything from Wei Wuxian’s perspective, we only got what he saw/heard/found out and what he speculated, so there is so much unanswered and undeveloped about Huaisang that I would love to have seen more/had more information about. Fatal Journey filled in some of those gaps, but also left me yearning for more about Huaisang’s relationship with the rest of his sect.
I would have loved to see a proper reconciliation between him and his old friends once the truth was finally out, too. Some good talks and explanations all around, and relationship rebuilding!
But that is what fanfic is for, right?!

(But at least Hamilton had some genuine relationships between women, not great but still)

An unpopular opinion: I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion but I’m going to say it anyway. Personally, I really don’t like the movie Civil War, I think it’s what sorta made me disinterested in mcu. It’s been years since I’ve watched it so maybe I would have a completely different opinion if I saw it today, but at the time it just felt so...wrong? And childish? I literally don’t even remember why they were fighting or how that movie even ended (I feel like it just wasn’t satisfying??) but I think also, as a kid or teen watching that, it reminded me sooo much of the dumb drama that, you know, kids get into. I mean, getting your friends on someone’s side like that?? Like, I know they were mad but- but there are other ways of dealing with emotions??? And involving everyone's friends too? So yeah, it just felt off to me at the time, and looking back now, from what I remember, it just frustrated me. Especially as a kid who deals with dumb drama like that all the time, kids would want to see a better example especially from adult superheroes or at least not be reminded of the bs they have to go through sometimes. But, rant over, that’s all just my opinion:)

3. Washette (ship-bless you<3 get ready for rambles oh no)
When I started shipping them: So I first had the thought in 7th grade while my history teacher was talking about them and my little brain went: haha that’s pretty gay. (teacher keeps talking about them) wait a fucking minute, that is pretty gay! But it wasn’t until I got sucked into Hamilton that I really started actively shipping them by reading fics and what not, but something about them became an instant favorite. And later (little personal story time) I pretty much completely stopped reading fic and being active in fandom for years and actually, when I got my first panic attack that - no joke - lasted for 5 hours, for some reason my brain (as it’s decaying lol) said I want to go and reread all my favorite washette fics and also do what I was I always too scared to do. Write!! So that night I binged the fics and found myself falling in love again, feeling all the old passion I had for them again, and the next night (still very shaken) I wrote an outline of a good ol washette confession + kiss that was extremely thoughtful and good, and honestly, I have not actually used that outline yet! Maybe I’m saving it. But yeah, this is a long answer, but I have a weird amount of attachment to them and this ship, I wish I knew why too. <3
My thoughts: so many. Too many. First of all, I love that I have so many versions of them in my mind, right? When I started writing, I had never watched Turn but then I did and then it was like: hell yeah, another washette set. At this point, my brain has created it’s own unique version of them but it’s like, they’re so versatile! That’s one neat thing about this fandom as a whole, we get more than one character and personality and that’s just fun right?! More specifically on washette I mean, they’re just so sweet. Historically, their relationship is unique and cute, and you’d have to be a fool to think that to Washington Lafayette was just another friend. Even strictly platonically, it was something special and it’s so obvious I just love them. Ok. Enough thoughts for now <3
What makes me happy about them: the loooove, the comfort they found in each other, the fact that like every person at the time documenting them knew and understood they were special to each other like, they were just that in love.
What makes me sad about them: oh so much that I try to ignore lol. There is the one year when Lafayette went to France and all his letters to Wash are like: “I have not received one letter from you, but it’s ok, I love you and I know you love me too :)” WHO WAS NOT DELIVERING THESE LETTERS, I HAVE NAMES, NOW I WANT ANSWERS. Anyway, also just most things that happened when Laf went back to France. And then when he visited America in 1824 and visited Washington’s grave. Yeah. ow. (also, you know what, I have done too much research on this event. lmk if you would like a post)
Things done in fanfic that annoy me: Generally, I’m not annoyed by much in fanfic at least with them and what I’ve seen. I’m still nostalgic for the old school nonbinary Laf fics, so it ain’t those. Literally maybe it’s because I’m starved for content but I can’t really think of anything, I love it all.
Things I look for in fanfic: back to the whole starved for content thing, I am a library of washette fics but I think if I was to pick a certain thing that I would love it’s just um fluff? And honesty, if that makes sense. Love confessions are very good as well. Canon era, please :) pining but not too much that it hurts me lol
My wishlist: literally all my wips. If I could whisk them into existence I could die happy and knowing I have put a variety of washette content in the world. Something else though, more fics :’) I love writing but sometimes I want to curl up with a cozy, new washette fic like a cup of hot chocolate and be surprised and learn something new and just..yeah:)
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: what. Ok but actually, Martha and Adrienne because they are both honestly perfect for them and I love them too (I’m going to be biased, especially Adrienne)
My happily ever after for them: Can Lafayette just move the family to America? But also, it’s sad, but like I know Laf would be sad in America while France suffers. So...maybe a world where things in France go better and Lafayette gets to visit Washington more often and bring the family!! (Washington visit France too??)
4. Anna Strong (character)
How I feel about this character: I like her! She’s fun and…strong (oops lol) and she’s made some mistakes sure, but I feel like she did her best to learn from them and move on
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Honestly, I know they didn’t have a lot of interaction in the show but Anna/Mary has potential. And Anna/Edmund

G4 Nextgen Headcanons
This is just like.. a very brief overview of some of my ships for G4! I’m still working on my nextgen AU tbh, nothing is written too far in stone, but I think it’s dun.
Twilight Sparkle: Twilight never formally settles down or has children for numerous reasons, but she’s no stranger to love. I like to think Twilight has many companions throughout her years, but one of the biggest is Tempest Shadow, a unicorn always just out of grasp. Tempest would never settle down herself, but ponies knew when she was visiting Canterlot, as Princess Twilight would slack on her duties. Twilight never sought children but always had a big family with the legacy of children, grandchildren, and all descendants of her friends.
Pinkie Pie / Cheese Sandwich: I’m perfectly okay with canon for this one. Aside from Lil’ Cheese, I gave them a daughter named Peachy Pie, who is Lil’ Cheese (Grilled Cheese) younger sister. I may give them another kid or two, I feel like Pinkie would have a big family. Pinkie is also the honorary godmother of Princess Skystar’s children, treating Skystar’s children as cousins to her own.
Rainbow Dash / Applejack: Surprisingly, I’m also okay with the canon implications on this one, but I want to explore it in more depth. Mainly that I believe Dash had a relationship with Soarin’ before things went very south very quickly leading to his expulsion from the Wonderbolts and a lot of drama. This downfall would happen not long after the birth of their first child (a yet-to-be-named colt). She reconnects with Applejack during this time and they fall in love all over again and have a set of twins together.
Rarity / Yakmont (Yona’s Father): Yeah, so this one is a doozy. Still working on a timeline here. Yona bonds very closely to Rarity during her time at the school, seeing her a secondary mother figure. Yona’s mother sadly succumbs to illness before Yona graduates. This brings the too even closer together, and Yakmont respects Rarity very highly for the love and care she has put into Yona. It is definitely a slow burn, and Rarity has many lovers before she and Yakmont actually settle down and she becomes Yona’s guardian, but it’s another tale for another post.
Fluttershy: So here’s an unpopular opinion: I hate Discord and the Fluttercord ship with a burning passion! So here’s me throwing Discord away. They can have a very strong companionship, but I imagine that one day he just does something so horrible that even he is like “this is bad” and asks Twilight to return him to a stone prison. So no cute draconeques hybrid babies, but the fandom has plenty of those. Instead Fluttershy ends up raising her nephew, Whirlwind, as her own son because Zephyr is a useless deadbeat and Lightning Dust isn’t much better.
Scootaloo / Terramar: I very strongly believe that Scootlaoo’s trip to Mount Aris in “Surf and/or Turf” changed her forever. Being a seapony was the closest she could ever get to experiencing a flying feeling, and the open sea was the next best thing to the open air. She and Terramar slowly form a relationship in their teen years. Living in Seaquestria also gives her a great and unique opportunity to help her parents by learning about marine life, and they form a greater bond when Scootaloo is older.
Starlight / Trixie: Look these ponies are gay and there’s nothing you can do about it. They have a daughter who goes to Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns.
Sunburst / Moondancer: I just think these two would get along well. They have a son together and our G5 protagonist Sunny Starscout has a biological link to them.

OKAY, let me tell you all about what I like about the smelly trash man cause if it wasn’t obvious before with me not being so subtle I have a big crush and enjoy this stupid demon a lot (crush on musical beej specifically of course LAWL)
Why I Like them: OKAY IN ORDER, first movie Beetlejuice. I enjoy he’s a big sleazy asshole that has funny one-liners every time he actually just show up in the movie. He’s a fast-talking con man that acts like a used car salesman and he has a sleazy charm to him. I also enjoy watching Barbara school his ass every time I rewatch the movie, stan movie Barbara y’all she’s a babe and will take you down. I also like to thank Michael Keaton for his performance it was a great one and we all have movie Beej to thank for the other Beetlejuices we got!
Toon Beej! Adorable, a brat, a jerk, a man that would do anything to make a quick buck and he’s gross and such a petty shithead I love him lmao. He can be pure and adorable and nice when he wants to be even if he doesn’t like to show that he has a soft side. Also holy shit all his puns??? YES?? I LOVE PUNS. His jokes, his powers, everything about this middle aged dead ghoul is A+ and ya know what when karma does slap him that’s good too cause he does deserve to get taken down a peg some times lmao. Toon Beej is someone I’d happily be friends with.

Musical Juice. What don’t I like about him? Besides his dumb ass plan of a green card marriage lmao (I mean movie beej also sleazy af for doing that too). ANYWAYS. What I like. His stupid smile (both blum and brightman just WHY ARE THEY BOTH SO ATTRACTIVE AHHH), his unhinged pansexual disaster energy, who tf is letting this man do coke that is a terrible idea but it gives such hilarious results, the fact that he uses his humor with his trauma he needs to NOT call me out like that lol. I weirdly relate to Musicaljuice like a lot (as someone who struggles with trying not to be petty or get jealous and stuff like that), plus him feeling invisible and lonely also hit home really hard when people in middle school and high school would randomly just drop/ghost me out of the blue. He’s such a chaotic sleaze and I just enjoy his energy and his jokes so much. His dirty humor? Sign me up I keep it clean here folks cause I got another blog for dirty stuff but I like dirty humor when it’s done right lmao. Also dadbod. Dadbod is CHEF KISS. The little things I also enjoy. How he does have an affectionate side (him being just affection/touch starved also coming for the throat cause me too), the fact that he jumped to protect Lydia after she rightfully killed him and he even gave her his cowboy hat as a goodbye present. I thought it was nice of him to yeet out of there cause he did do a lot of bads lmao. I also love how excited he got and the chaotic sibling energy he had with Lydia when scaring. I just really, really enjoy musical Beetlejuice a lot guys.

Why I don’t: I honestly do not hate his character at all, but, I can criticize his actions. To a degree. I can’t exactly say (ex. Musicaljuice)“Oh no! a demon trying to kill Lydia’s friends and family?? How unexpected!!” he’s a demon he’s gonna do evil-ish things. Which is why I applaud Lydia taking matters into her own hands good kid 10/10. and like movie Juice is a bastard sleazy man of course he’s gonna have a shitty idea as to marry a teenage girl so he can freely do whatever he wants in the world of the living. He never in the final script showed any creepy shit towards her which god I am grateful for I don’t need someone perving on this teenager that’s already having a wild time in her new house. He’s a conman just trying to have a good time but goes about it by crappy means. The petty/jealousy thing can go too far some times (but I chalk that up to musicaljuice’s sad upringing along with not having an positive relationships that we know of in his life to support him) for musical and toon juice (toon juice once again I don’t think had any friends that really understood him when he was alive and when he died so he just does whatever he wants since people already think so little of him before he meets Lydia), however with the proper talking to I think both could improve from it. Like in an analysis way I know these guys are fictional just like character development thoughts. All three have said and or done some things ranging from like small shitty things to problematic obviously. Beetlejuice is a very complex character as a whole. Movie juice obviously not as developed since he’s barely in the film to kind of shroud him in more mystery but that doesn’t mean his motives aren’t intriguing. I don’t want to make this post longer than it already is so that’s just all of my thoughts summarized.
Favorite Episode (scene if Movie): Fav movie beej scene is hard.
His first time meeting the Maitlands, his charades with Lydia, then the ending scene are all so good.
Toon Beej I’m trying to think. Once again I’ve only rewatched like 20+ episodes for the cartoon so it’s hard to pick with limited options. Uhhhh I like the haunted attraction episode lmao also the creepy tree and how he went out of his way to help Lydia move her favorite tree and in the end tried saying something nice to the tree even though eh was annoyed with it the whole episode.
Musical juice that is HARD, Blum and Brightman just own every scene they’re in shit lawl. I really like the evil plan reveal during the séance. The whole being dead pt 1&2 (the guide reprise), say my name, his scenes with the maitlands.
Favorite season/movie: Skip

What about my son, Mike?
Mike Wheeler
(Nothing I say can truly summarize all my thoughts about Mike Wheeler. He's one of my favorite characters in the story! I have so much to say about Mike. But... here we go!)
Favorite thing about them:
Mike Wheeler is so open-hearted and passionately determined to do what is Right. Injustice and unfairness absolutely infuriates him. He is intensely loyal and protective of his friends. He is very much a Paladin in not only his D&D campaigns but also his own real life.
I love how Stranger Things makes it clear that you don't need to be macho or physically strong (or well coordinated, or fast on your feet) to be heroic. Mike is a true hero. He is a source of comfort and strength. He is humble and kind. He clearly sees the beauty in all his friends, but not always in himself. I don't think he realizes how important he is to the people in his life.
Mike Wheeler is a truly wonderful person. I wish more people in the world were like Mike.
Least favorite thing about them:
That's hard. If I had to identify a trait that Mike struggles with... hmm. Well: I find it kind of endearing, but I might argue that Mike can be a bit naive and unaware of certain things sometimes. For example: while Mike has a passionate, fire-spitting anger towards unfairness, he seems repeatedly shocked by certain kinds of injustice and that's part of why his first reaction is anger before he turns towards seeking a solution. He passionately believes in what is Right, and he cannot fathom that the unfairness isn't clear to those perpetrating it, whether that's his parents, Hopper, or someone more threatening. ("No I don't! No I don't understand!")
Favorite line:

Mike and Lucas! They are clearly super close. I really enjoy their heated debates, and relate to their conversations a lot: like comparing Classic Coke and New Coke to The Thing and the remake. 😂 I debate things like that with friends all the time because even though it seems like an argument, it's kind-of just a mutual expression of shared interests that you enjoy discussing in-depth even if you don't agree. (Friendly disagreement and debate about shared interests can be a lot of fun! Yay, nerds!) I appreciate how Lucas often tries to help Mike with his problems whenever Mike is being totally oblivious. ("I just wish you'd consulted me! Cause the way you handled this: you're in deep shit!")
OTP:
Once upon a time a young boy went missing in Hawkins, and his close friend Mike Wheeler was determined to do everything he could to find him. Once he returned, Mike stayed by his side at the hospital, reminded him of the first time they met, and told him that he believes that "all this is happening for a reason" and that they would "go crazy together." Even if Will doesn't know about it yet, I truly believe that Mike is determined to keep that promise and that Mike is ultimately devoted to being by Will's side through everything. Now I'm just waiting for Will to realize that Mike is as devoted to him as he is devoted to Mike, and for Mike and Will to work through their fears together. I look forward to them finally being honest about their feelings with each other in future seasons. Mike Wheeler has no idea what to do with his feelings right now and he is also fully aware that his feelings are considered taboo in his community. Mike just wants to fit in and be accepted. He is trying so hard to grow up and be an adult now that he is going into high school. He thinks being an adult means abandoning things you love and conforming to societal expectations just like his mom and dad. "Just a little uncertainty can bring you down. And nobody wants to know you now! And nobody wants to show you how. So if you're lost and on your own... you can never surrender!" I believe that Mike is learning to accept and recognize his feelings for Will. Unfortunately, I do not think this will be an easy journey for either of them, but I am hopeful that they will each resolve their respective challenges and ultimately be happy together at the conclusion of the story.
nOTP:
As things currently stand for El's circumstances and life-experiences and maturity: I do not ship El and Mike. I care about El very much, and I am not very comfortable with her dating someone given that all of her memories of her life until a year ago involved being abused and completely isolated from normal society. She has no prior experience forming a healthy and safe attachment to another person. I don't feel comfortable with a 14 year old girl, that has not lived in society at all until very recently, and who has been horribly mistreated by those she had been taught to trust and obey, becoming romantically involved with the very first person that showed her any kindness in the outside world. She is a fast learner, but her naivité regarding the nuances of relationships is repeatedly and clearly demonstrated in the story ("What is friend?" "Would you be like my brother?" "Good screams?" "Bad screams?") Up until now: she literally lived her entire life being forced to do what Papa wanted. 👀 Even when she meets Benny, he manipulates her into telling him her name by withholding her food. Yes, he was a good guy. But I want El to know she doesn't have to give anyone ANYTHING in order to be fed. To deserve respect. To deserve safety and love. El might still be passively seeking to please others that are kind to her because it is how she has learned to survive. I hope she continues to learn that she doesn't have to do that. I'm glad that Max has encouraged El to be her own person, to demand Mike's honesty, to "try things on until [El] finds something that feels like [her]," to learn what she actually likes and to have her own opinions and desires that are not tied to the expectations and desires of others, and to "make her own rules." Whatever happens in El's storyline and in her relationships in the future: I hope she continues to embrace who she is and learns to love herself, while also learning more about this big world that is now at her feet for the first time in her entire life.
random headcanon:
Joyce is a little envious of Mike's collection of Will's drawings, but she doesn't say anything because she's glad they are so close. (My mom immediately wants to keep anything I make! When I give art to my sweetheart she still gets a bit jealous and wants it for herself.)
unpopular opinion:
My nOTP is probably (?) my most unpopular opinion about Mike. (And by extension, my OTP.) I am aware that not everyone interprets the story and the characters in the same way that I do. These are simply my interpretations of the subtext of Mike's relationships in Stranger Things, and we might have to agree to disagree.

Hey, hope your day’s going great! If you’re still up for doing the character asks, I’m really interested in what you have to say about Kageyama :)
Hi! Yes, I'm happy to do this, just went to bed already before you sent this. Kageyama is actually a character I talk shockingly little about considering he's one of the 2 leads.
Favourite thing about them: People may think he's arrogant and just self centred, but he really isn't, or at least there's way more to him. Yes he's not that tactful, sure, but he never denies the abilities of those around him. Even as soon as he met Hinata he was the only one who took him seriously. He's blunt and straightforward and not one to be nice for the sake of it, but he really, really does try and he recognises the abilities and strengths of both his teammates and opponents, and no matter his skill, he never takes his place for granted. It's such an in depth portrayal of a person, especially a teenager, and I really appreciate it
Least favourite thing about them: I just...I know this is meant to be one of the things for him to work on and that's the entire point, but whenever I rewatch or reread the series, I can't help but go "okay, maybe a little sugarcoating wouldn't go amiss if this is how you're gonna handle the situations". There's blunt and then there's being obnoxious and occasionally he crosses the line.
Favourite line: I'm actually going to go with his and Suga's dual dialogue during the Seijoh match. It's a scene that always stands out to me, because among all the great plays and moments of matches, this one just hits. Both of them love the game, want to play with the team, but they can't. At one time, only one of them can. The passion is always going to be there and be there strong but it's not going to be possible for them to both be on the court. However, they have 1 united goal and even if they aren't playing together, they're fighting for that
brOTP: The karasuno first years, I love the mentor type relationship he has with Suga, and I did always kind of hope that he'd end up reconciling with some of his middle school team, just to clear the air and be able to move on even if they weren't to be friends.
OTP: It's very odd because I have Hinata ships I much prefer to Kagehina, but I don't have any Kageyama ships I prefer to them 2
nOTP: I don't ship Oikage. That ship kinda feels like it's there because of course rivals like those 2 will be paired up, but it really doesn't work for me there. Also, I don't ship him with Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, or Yachi, all of which are surprisingly popular to me. There are others, but as the deuteragonist, he's shipped with pretty much every character, and I can't go through them all. I don't think there's any problem with the ships of course! They just don't work for me.
Unpopular opinion: People calling for Oikawa, Tsukki, Kindaichi, and Kunimi to apologize to him without acknowledging that Kageyama isn't exactly innocent either is a little stupid. Yes, Tsukishima is a snarky jerk, Oikawa was childish, and Kunimi and Kindaichi along with the other kitaichi players shouldn't have just decided in the middle of the game to stop trying to work with him. But even with him going through things, which we only learned recently, it's not as if he was just bullied, and was completely separate from the issues. All of these characters are teenagers, they're kids, and even if they were adults I would still understand that these circumstances unfortunately happen. If anything, all of them deserve an apology from the others (other than maybe Oikawa but I don't really think not liking a person is a reason to say sorry either) but going through something doesn't absolve every way you treated your peers. I'd love to see him and his middle school teammates make up, but apologies are kinda needed from both sides.
Random headcanon: I've always found the idea that he'd be incredibly soft if he ever met Natsu to be really endearing. He probably wouldn't know what to do, but then this little girl is just staring at him and Shouyou finds it hilarious, as he spends hours just watching some kind of TV with her and being too concerned how to stop it

1) How I feel about this character:
Personally, when Midoriya was first introduced, I felt kinda bad for him that he needed to undergo all that bullying from his classmates, especially from Bakugou, but then he met All Might and that's where everything started to change.
He was so determined to follow his dreams despite everyone holding him back and now he went through the great lengths to achieve incredible things. Tbh, I'd never be this passionate ab something if me and everyone around me thought it didn't make that much sense. So this quality of his is v admirable.
His stubbornness is amazing but also masochistic, he's broken so many bones to the point where it was too painful to watch, but nonetheless, he never gave up. He started as a Quirkless person but he always bore a heroic heart since a young age, when he tried to defend that kid from Bakugou in the past. He's a v nice person and he cares for his friends a big deal. The only thing that I don't quite understand is his friendship with Bakugou, I'd never be friends with him.
Moreover, Bakugou and Midoriya became equals somewhere in the middle of the manga where they fought and Bakugou reconciled w the fact that Midoriya isn't a small weak boy that he used to be, but despite all that he still hates him. If I were Midoriya, I'd bully Bakugou the same way he did in middle school but Midoriya is too kind and he doesn't know how to fight back.
I also don't like Midoriya being portrayed as a Mary Sue character. I know that he's a protagonist of the show and that he needs to represent someone people would look up to, but he still needs to have some flaws and it's too sad that he doesn't have any. It's unrealistic and people can't relate.
I'm also disappointed that Uraraka's and Iida's sole purpose was serving as a friendship spring-board for Midoriya to develop another friendship squad w Todoroki and Bakugou. Uraraka and Iida are now out of his league and Midoriya busted his ego a little by getting more than one Quirk. I liked the previous Midoriya better.
And since Midoriya is overrated in the fandom I'm not rly hyped ab his character. I like him, but I wouldn't die for him as I would for some other characters.
2) All the people I ship romantically with this character: Uraraka and maybe Melissa
3) My non-romantic OTP for this character: Todoroki, Iida, Tokoyami, Kirishima, Kaminari
4) My unpopular opinion about this character: I think the story would be more meaningful if Midoriya somehow managed to achieve his dream by staying Quirkless. Even so, the story would be far more interesting if he became a villain instead.
5) One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Theory of afo dad being true? That would be a great plot twist. I have a theory that the reason why Horikoshi didn't make Midoriya a villain is bc he'd meet his dad a lot earlier in the story.

(1.) Is there anything you dislike about the character(s) you play? OC or otherwise?
How difficult he can be. He doesn’t make plotting or interactions easy for anyone and it’s hard to be spontaneous with him unless he’s under some influence. It gets bothersome at times when you see muses you as the mun like, but know your OC would never have anything to do with them.
(2.) How many languages can you speak?
I can only speak English. I took over 2 years of Mandarin but still couldn’t properly speak it, though I can read it pretty decently. Same with Japanese - took 4 years but at most can just read it. I understand a lot of Spanish and some Korean. I took Arabic in high school, but I suck at it. Only know like 3 words now.
(3.) Where did you first go on vacation?
I remember as a child when my parents were still together, we went on a road trip from Chicago all the way to Disneyland in California. We went through Colorado, I got to hand feed a giraffe, I fell on a cactus, I cried about not being able to go on the monorail, had my first BBQ sauce pizza (which I hated) -- I think that was my first vacation.
(4.) Do you have any potentially-unpopular opinions about your character or the fandom that they’re involved in?
Since Myles started off as a Starfighter OC, I guess you’re asking me if I have any unpopular opinions on Starfighter? Do you have 8 hours?
I understand that Starfighter is/was supposed to be a smut comic and was actually supposed to stop after “chapter 1″ but got so popular that the author decided to continue writing it. I understand that a majority of the plot is based around two dudes fuckin’ and I understand that expecting or asking for more than that is silly.
BUT THERE IS SO MUCH POTENTIAL JUST WASTED. THE WHOLE REASON I EVEN FUCKIN JOINED THAT FANDOM WAS BECAUSE I THOUGHT I COULD DO IT BETTER AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I fucking did. Hamlet gives such a great basis and outline for amazing world building that just ends up falling flat because the story is focused on well detailed dick draws (which are great btw, I won’t slight her for that). The concept of the last surviving humans fighting against an alien collective using their own tech against them just gets my dick hard, but all of that is sort of thrown to way side and lost under “who emotionally betrayed who” and “I love you now even if I didn’t at the beginning” nonsense. You can still have a great romance story OR EVEN PWP?? But establish it in a world that makes fucking sense. There are all of these aspects that we’ll never get answers on that she’s just thrown into the story as a vehicle to get to the next sex scene and it just rustles my fucking jimmies.
I had to stop writing in the fandom because I honestly am incapable of writing with the new people who come in -- nothing against them and their writing abilities, I’m sure they’re great, but everyone always comes in like “I’m looking for an Abel for my Cain” or vice versa, or just some smutty locker room pwp and weird Commander Daddy Doms -- just things I’ve read over and over and over again that have just become absolutely bland.
DID YOU KNOW??? There are whole constellations?? of crystals floating through space? Shattered diamonds and acidic clouds?? Did you know?? that there are 3 different theorized ways to bend space and time to create warp drives? Could you imagine being the final ship BSG style trying to float your way to what essentially might be your grave in space avoiding stars that are literally eating each other so that you can fight an alien race that has destroyed not only one, but many of your species homelands???
BUT WAIT, LEMMIE GET A DICK IN THIS SPACE CRAFT FOR A MINUTE AND WE CAN BICKER ABOUT HOW U LOOK LIKE MY EX.KJDHGJKGHKDJGHS IT JUST MAKES ME SO MAD. DONT GET ME STARTED, I FEEL VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT SPACE.

Why don't you like anna and the french kiss?
My answer will be full of spoilers, so if you want to read the book and you don’t want to get spoiled, don’t continue reading.
Okay, when I first starting getting into reading, which was like two or three years ago, I watched a lot of booktube videos for recommendations and every single person I watched a video of raved about this book and the trilogy in general. They claimed that it was one of the cutest books they’ve read so I, a fluff enthusiast, decided to give it a shot. Instead of having a good time, though, and dying from all the cutesy content I was promised, I finished this book feeling extremely frustrated.
Now, when I first read that book I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads because I just wanted to move on with my life and forget about this book (and also, I might have been kind of afraid to express an unpopular opinion). But as the days went by, I couldn’t stop thinking about this book and how awful I thought it was and the more I thought about it, the more angry and frustrated I got with it. So I decided to drop the rating down to a 1 star, but if Goodreads had a “zero stars, made me want to scratch my eyes off” rating, that’s what its appropriate rating would be and that’s for the following reasons:
The characters. I’ll focus on the two main characters later, but for now let’s talk about the secondary and background characters. All of them, without exception, in my opinion were cardboard cutouts of people who had like, one defining personality trait and most of whom served only one purpose: making the main character look like she’s the best human being on earth. Now, you might be thinking that typically characters like that are pretty neutral or whatever but I hated every single one of them. Ten out of them, would stab all of them.
Anna. She is the typical innocent girl, who ,of course, is different from the rest of the girls, which she wants to remind us 24/7 by talking about how she wants to be the best female film critic and by telling us all the quirky things she does, like going to the cinema 10 times a week when she can’t really afford food. In my entire life, in all the books I’ve read, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more stupid and ignorant character. Like, bitch goes to France, the capital of all things art and especially film, which is supposedly her biggest passion, and she doesn’t think that they’d be cinemas there? And when she has this epiphany that places other than America have movie theaters, she decides to watch only American, modern films. Like, sure Jan, you’re going to be the best film critic. Also, this dumb bitch goes to an English speaking school and she’s too afraid to order from the cafeteria because she thinks that they only speak French there. As I said at the beginning of this paragraph, she’s supposed to be this innocent angel who does no wrong, but later on we see her hating on and badmouthing every single person she doesn’t like, betray her friends and describing beating her crush’s girldfriend in way too much detail.
Etienne. He’s supposed to be the local hottie, the best looking guy in the school and the guy that every girl with eyes wants to have. In reality, though, he’s the biggest fucking asshole you’ll ever meet. He is constantly flirting with Anna, even though he has a girlfriend. He is two timing Anna and his girlfriend, Ellie, for almost the entire book but nobody calls him out on his fucking bullshit because he’s such a cutie! Why are all the girls in love with such a fucking huge piece of shit? He is a pretentious douchebag who keeps seeing Anna even though he has no plans on breaking up with his girlfriend anytime soon.
Cheating. From what you’ve read above it is pretty clear that Etienne is emotionally (and I believe physically, too, because I think that him and Anna kiss while he’s still technically with Ellie, but I might be wrong) and nowhere in the book is there any conversation about this, except for when Anna thinks that what she’s doing is wrong from like two seconds, but then she continues doing it anyway.
Girls hating on other girls. This book, man. I am sick and tired of seeing this “trope” and this book is filled with nothing but. Anna, this pure sweet girl, is constantly putting down other girls, just because they’re interested on the same guy she likes or they’re dating her ex boyfriends. She doesn’t stop calling other girls slutty and skanky, she keeps criticizing what they’re wearing and that doesn’t stop to girls she doesn’t really know, but she feels the need to talk shit on Meredith, who is supposed to be her friend. Like, fuck off. She’s always badmouthing Ellie, even though she’s done nothing wrong to her? Oh yes, how dare the girlfriend of the guy I like be in a relationship with him????
The hypocrisy. As mentioned above, Anna always talks down on other girls because she’s much better than them, when in reality she does the exact same shit. She claims that all the girls who like Etienne push their boobs and butts out so he’d pay attention to them, when she, queen of hypocrisy, grinds on him, shares a bed with him three times and is constantly flirting and going on dates with him. Also, while she’s flirting hardcore with Etienne, Anna is supposed to be liking this Christopher guy, who she has barely spoken to since going to France, but she expects him to wait for her. She later on discovers that her bestie from back home is dating the guy she supposedly likes and gets very angry, and I’ll give her that because what her friend did was fucked, but then she proceeds to do the same to her friend Meredith, who she knows really likes Etienne. What an amazing friend.
The message. I am a firm believer that books don’t necessarily need to have a meaning or that they need to include a life lesson at the end. Some books exist just to be a fun read and I think that’s what this book was trying to do, but instead we got a message that was very wrong and fucked up. Basically, it’s okay to emotionally cheat on people, admit to the girl that you fancy that you prefer her more than your actual girlfriend and you’d much rather be with her, continue playing with people’s feelings, hurt others but at the end it’s all good because all of that doesn’t matter and you get to live happily ever after with the girl you cheated on your girlfriend with. A lot of people think that this is okay but it’s not because cheating is never excused, no matter how much of a bitch you think his girlfriend is, no matter how much you ship those people and how cute you think they are. Oh, and about Anna and Etienne’s relationship. The author is clearly using the entire cheating thing to give the whole situation an angsty vibe when in reality this entire relationship is tale and boring. Another message that this book puts out to the world is that it’s okay to hate on people because they stand in the way of what you want and it’s alright to be thinking about hurting and ridiculing them. The author, through this book, makes people stand by Anna and support her bad behavior, even though in the process many people are getting hurt.
