Warning! Potential spoilers for Stranger Things 5!

To recap, Alex received this dm on 13/2/23, seemingly confirming mileven breakup

She received this message on that day, which states that mileven are still together and happy. However it’s also instantly debunkable bc they’re absolutely not going to do the Hopper-Mike feud bs again. That is beyond clear.

On this past Tuesday, 20/2/23, she received a second message outright stating Mileven breakup.

Finally, on Wednesday, 21/2/23, she received this message full of pretty plausible statements, with mileven breakup included as fact. Interesting.

This person claims it’s all fake, with no rationale or alt info - what, is Will not important now?

Worth noting: Millie is currently doing promo for Damsels, so she’ll be out of commission re: filming for a few weeks. Early March is probably when she’ll come back, but Finn will be be busy with his Ghosbusters 2 promo.

Two conclusions:

1.) there will be no mileven scenes filmed for a few weeks. Filming schedules are very tightly planned to accommodate other actor commitments, so it doesn’t seem like this posed a massive issue. Hm.

2,) Millie will likely be doing any scenes she has with Sadie and Caleb, aka Max and Lucas, when she gets back. As this message says.

This person is probably just smart and well-informed enough to figure this out, but it’s interesting.

There has been some very intriguing activity on a stranger things set a few days ago - red UD ligthing, castle Byers.., and Will Byers. Will’s plotline for season 5 seriously looks like everything us Will stans have been dreaming of in terms of plot relevance, emotional catharsis, etc. This pic dropped yesterday, and the spoiler acc seems to have confirmed it’s Will:

Very strange framework, here. If the goal is to set up Will being rejected gently by Mike, but understood and accepted, why not focus on that? Why not have Vecna say ‘you’re afraid he’ll be disgusted by you. You’re afraid he’ll see you as the disgusting, broken boy you are’ or something like that? Elsewhere in the game, it’s being reported by players that Will is being taunted about how his friends are all ignoring him, and how Max fits into the group better than he does. This is canonically a sore spot for him - not so much the Max part, but the general point. So why not emphasise his fear of Mike’s rejection, rather than his hurt at Mike picking El over him?

Maybe because, if this is carried into s5 and we get scenes of Vecna taunting Will about Mike choosing El, it’ll be certain that Mike will indeed pick Will. Maybe this is a means of hinting that?

(Side note: at this point in the time line, El was really just a concept to Will. The one time he met her, it was for barely a minute as a delirious, dying child. By s4, it’s very clear that they’re close and loving. I’ll hear no critique of him for apparently not wanting her to come back - it’s very obviously Vecna twisting things, as he did with Max in s4 to make it seem like she actively wanted to murder Billy.)

Also worth noting: the best Mike can say about the girl he supposedly loved at first sight, after a whole week with her, is that she’s ‘cool’, ‘different’, ‘awesome’. Very lacklustre. Compare to how Lucas would describe the comatose max to a newcomer in s4.

Finally: Will quite literally utilises a never-seen memory of Mike and him in Castle Byers as his happy menory, his safe place. You know,like the Snow Ball and those other memories of good times with Lucas that Max clung to in s4?

This post by @nebulousfishgills reports Vecna saying that Will is ‘the key’, manipulating Will’s memories, and directly saying “You’ll finally matter to someone, Will.” Byler kind of has to be endgame, right? For this to make any sense as a narrative? ‘We can still be friends’ won’t cut it, not if, as the messages Alex is getting make out, Will is still so achingly in love post-time jump that he’s staying by Mike’s hospital bed after everyone else leaves and kissing his forehead (a). Not if they’re still emphasising that Mike is his safe place, his home, his light, in (technically) pre-season five promotional material.

All of this is… interesting, to say the least.

Gonna just drop a read more here 'cause if y'all know me at all you know this post is probably gonna be 10KM long lol

So, I'm gonna try to hold myself back a little because I literally have like 10 pages of notes about specifically stuff in the backgrounds and I doubt the internet will find my bench and lamppost count interesting. (Also image limit lol)

I'll list just 4 things for now (in no particular order) and talk about them a bit underneath.

NUMBER 1 || STREET SIGNS

So there are four street signs that we’ve seen in Daybreak Town. Two are in the Fountain Square (A and B), one is in the Marketplace (C), and one is in the Clocktower Outskirts map (D).

For B and D it’s pretty easy to figure out what the represent. B is a clock, probably representing the Clock Tower… or maybe the best place to see the Clocktower because it’s in Fountain Square. The overall shape of it is different from the rest of the signs so I imagine that means something. D is a gondola or canoe of some sort, which makes sense because it’s next to stairs that seemingly lead to the canal that runs through town. Maybe there’s a ferry system of some sort?

A and C I’m less sure about. The designs don’t really bring anything obvious to mind. Maybe C is Munny because it leads to the Marketplace? I’m not sure.

NUMBER 3 || DOOR UNDER FOUNTAIN SQUARE

See what makes this interesting to me isn’t just the fact that apparently Fountain Square is hollow underneath (maybe for pipe repairs or something, I don’t know) but just the general fact that a lot of structures in this town, that maybe shouldn’t be, are hollow.

If you look even some archways have windows, so there has to be an open space inside, right? Most of them seem at least connected to houses so I assume they’re basements or something. (The one by murder house gets me tho, like that’s right under the bridge. Who’s living right under the bridge)

And I also feel like this leads into the fact that, similarly but not as extreme as in Scala, Daybreak Town is kinda built on top of itself. Maybe that’s a symptom of being around so many (and possibly on) mountains but I still feel like it should be talked about more.

NUMBER 4 || LIGHTHOUSE INTERIOR MAP

There is so much to unpack here but I’ll try to keep it brief.

So I’m pretty sure this is one of, if not the oldest building in Daybreak Town. Two reasons.

1. Instead of having little wall lamps, like the rest of the town and buildings, all the light seems to come from mounted candles.

2. There are swords (A) on the walls and not Keyblades. Why would the Keyblade town not have Keyblades on its little shield emblem? Is it possibly because it was there before Keyblades?

This staircase here (B) is also the only known (not sewer drain) way into the waterways. It leads into the sewers then out to the little dock below the Lighthouse with the boat, hence the sign.

There’s these maps here (C) that I don’t really know what to say about, but is definitely worth pointing out. They’re all the same and I assume show the layout of the area surrounding the town (the darker parts being water). It could be a world map though (darker part being continents)… I don’t think we’ll ever really learn lol

And also I don’t know what this is (D) but I think it’s interesting that it has writing on it. It kinda gives me the vibe of those flat on the ground gravestones…

NUMBER 5 || BANNER

Daybreak Town actually has a flag it’s all over the place and you’ll start to see it everywhere if you look for it. They also kind of look like the banners in Radiant Garden. The colours and shape/mounting are the same but the designs on the flag itself (and mounting) is different.

I have no clue what that implies, if anything, but I figure it’s worth pointing out ‘cause it’s interesting.

you don't think that the snaps were sent to someone else? he's said on his twitter that he had relations with someone over age back in 2020, from where I'm standing it looks very much like that person was possibly nat, who has admitted recently that she's been in contact with the people behind the burner.

not to mention that the evidence of the alleged exchanges between dream and the victim are images of screenshots of screenshots of a video of someones phone.

I just think it's way too soon to go throwing everything away, he hasn't even released his video yet!

There are over 50 asks in my inbox right now, but this one is actually worded kindly, so I’ll answer. Believe what you want of course, I’m not here to harass people into seeing things the way I see them, but just an explanation on the way I view it.

It’s very clear to me that he lied about who he sent those snaps to when everything is put together. At first, I wanted to attribute it to just forgetting who they were sent to, or mixing people up- but the way he went about proving that lie is what makes it obvious that this isn’t some mix-up.

To start, I want to point out that both the burner account and Nat (who Dream says is the actual recipient of those snaps) have denied Nat’s involvement with the burner beyond sharing the “chia seeds” discord screenshots. She also provided proof (linked here) that she hasn’t been in contact with him on snap since 2019. (burner account confirmation linked here).

Now, when he provided proof of Nat being the recipient, he provided this screenshot (seen below on the left). It should be noted that the “Sam” in discussion was a mutual between them both on Twitter, and not his ex, like some think. In the screenshot Nat provided (seen below on the right), there are voice memos that were either edited out or deleted before Dream posted them. Nat also provided videos (linked here) to show that the messages are authentic.

Okay I’m going off on a tangent here. I don’t have the energy to go through every little piece, so for now, here’s my conclusion for the Nat thing. To me at least, it very clearly isn’t her. But if the actual recipient of those videos wasn’t someone that shouldn’t have been sent them in the first place, why go to such lengths to claim so? Why go through all the trouble of bringing in someone completely uninvolved if there was nothing wrong with it in the first place? Even as a stan, I could admit that he has a thing about lying at first when he’s in the wrong, so all this just feels like the final nail.

Now, even if this was just some elaborate set-up to get him cancelled, I still find it really uncomfortable and strange that he sent something like that to a fan anyways? I feel like a lot of people forget the whole power imbalance aspect when it comes to youtubers with their fans. The fact that he has so many intimate relationships with stans/fans strikes me as weird whether they’re legal or not.

That’s all I have for now, at least on the “could be Nat” situation. There are a Lot of asks and messages that I don’t have the energy to go through, so I’ll probably make a final post and then never look in my notifs again.

Adrienne is a freshly 21 year old, openly queer and business oriented person. They have periods where they present themselves more masculine or androgynous but they’re currently in their hyper-feminine era. They're a very ambitious but cheerful person, always the first to hype you up when you need it.

They consider themselves as “a human that isn’t limited by boundaries created by mankind” and refuse to use a set gender identity to refer to themselves as so they’ll use gender-fluid/ nonbinary interchangeably to avoid feeling chained to a particular identity. They’re the biggest believer in “You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone or anything, including yourself. Do what makes you happy, our time is limited. Love to live your life.”

They just got out of a two year long relationship with an ex-partner who wasn't very supportive of their gender identity or the way they'd express themselves. "Since I don't set limitations for myself gender wise, I don't mind if people call me "she" from time to time but he'd go out of his way to only refer to me by those pronouns or go out of his way to make it known that I was only a "girl/ woman" in his eyes. Although I had a lot of love for him at some point in time, he was no longer someone I could say I aligned with." They don't have a set preferences for their "ideal type" but gravitate to people who have very similar desires or goals as they do. They're very motivated to reach the goals they set for themselves and heavily desire to be with someone who can match that energy. They are very attracted to the way certain people carry themselves.

They have a HUGE passion for baking & cooking. It’s the best way they express their affection. Sure, they’ll say “I love you” or verbally express anything anything else but their skills in the kitchen is the best way they’ll respond to anything. Going through a breakup? Here’s your favorite type of cookie made especially catered with your tastes in mind. Stressed about school? Here’s a homemade meal with all your favorite ingredients! It’s your birthday?? Well hope you enjoy a day full of taste testing a bunch of dishes made especially for you to try and enjoy. Their dream is to open up a bakery and/or a restaurant to share their skills with the world.

Although they can say they have a support home life, it’s definitely far from perfect. They have an older sister (around the age of 29/30) that they lost contact with at a young age. She "disappeared" from Adrienne's life when they were 7/8 years old & their parents were going through a divorce. Their sister went with their mom and they stayed with their dad. Their mom passed 3-4 years after the split so no one really has heard anything from their sister since. They hate when anyone refers to them as “Lily” but have the fondest memories of their older sister calling them that. Their Dad is kind of hesitant to talk about the topic and avoids it as much as possible but that's made it so that hes more understanding + supportive of Adrienne even if he doesn't necessarily agree with something.

About the situation

ok so i hate addressing drama on here but this feels important.

If this is how you’re learning about the Shubble situation, i apologize

first things first: i 100% stand with and believe Shubble. My heart is with her fully and I’m so glad she’s healing from what she went through with her abuser.

the reason im posting this, though, is because of the discourse surrounding Wilbur Soot and the possibility/evidence that he was the unnamed abuser Shubble was talking about. And as many of you know, i post a lot of crimeboy/sbi/wilbur-centric stuff. For now, because from what i can tell the situation is less than a week old, i’m going to give Wilbur time to respond. I won’t say that it’s him, i won’t say that it’s not him, but i’m prepared for the worst.

As for this blog, i’m probably going to handle this the same way i handled the Dream situation; i’m going to take a break from Wilbur centric aus for the moment until things become clearer, but the odds that i’ll stop writing for his character all together are slim. I don’t write with ccs in mind, ever, period. At this point i’m treating the dsmp cast like OCs with how far removed from their og characters they tend to be in my stories. In all honestly, i stopped watching half of these creators over a year ago, but i still like the idea of their dsmp characters. Hell, to be completely truthful i don’t think i’ve ever watched a Dream or Sapnap youtube video in full and those two are main characters in like half of my aus.

Also clarification just so this doesn’t get misconstrued: when i say “i’m going to handle this like the Dream situation,” i mean i’m gonna keep writing and not take down my previous stories, i’m just going to distance myself from the creator until more comes to light. I don’t want to compare Shubble’s experiences with abuse to fakes snapchat screenshots posted on twitter. Again, I stand with and believe Shubble’s story 100%, abuse is not something to be taken lightly and I wish her nothing but the best. It takes guts to speak out like she has and I commend her bravery.

This situation is a bit harder for me than the Dream one, though, because as I mentioned, i was never a huge cc!Dream fan, more a c!Dream fan. But I’ll be devastated if this is all true because I was a huge Wilbur Soot fan. Never really liked LoveJoy, just wasn’t my type of music, but SootHouse was quite literally the first YouTube channel i ever watched. Not to be parasocial, but Wilbur’s videos got me through some tough times. His YLYL videos were the only things that brought me joy when Techno’s death announcement was released on my birthday. I really looked up to him.

I don’t want to make this about me, the main thing in this situation is to support Shubble. No matter who the ex is, she deserves all of our unwavering support right now. I hope that if it wasn’t Wilbur that he somehow clears his name soon, but that if it was (im hoping it’s not but im not ignorant enough to blindly disregard all the evidence) that he regrets what he did and is getting help. I believe people can change and that everyone deserves a second chance, but im not going to know what to think of him until he gives a genuine, heartfelt apology for his actions, fully commits to bettering himself, and proves that he’ll never do something like this again.

AtLA Ship Poll - Vote Buying? (A humorous hypothesis and experiment)

Disclaimer 1: I’m tagging this anti-Kataang not because it’s actually against the ship, but because it could be perceived as such, so it’s getting the precautionary tag. It’s really not looking at the ship, but looking at what seems to be one... unusually enthusiastic fan.

Disclaimer 2: If there are errors it’s not because I’m purposely trying to prove something but because I’m not a mathematician, so just kindly let me know and I’ll update the numbers.

Disclaimer 3: No matter how many people will claim I must be really upset that my ship lost because “wow you spent so much time on this”, I must emphasize this is just the exact kind of ridiculous thing that I find incredibly funny. 

If you’re in the shipper side of the AtLA fandom, then you’ve probably seen the AtLA Ship Tournament poll on Twitter that’s been running the last few days. I voted in the Zutara/ Kataang poll, saw my ship lost, and promptly was about to stop caring when I saw this post by the Twitter account running the poll: (edit to clarify- the $2000 here isn’t specifically in reference to the AtLA polls. The Twitter account running the poll was retweeting someone else’s post about spending a lot of money on vote buying as a cautionary tale. No idea how much the AtLA vote buyer is spending.)

Winning or losing might not have been that interesting to me, but the idea of someone being petty enough to pay real money to buy fake votes for an unofficial poll about shipping cartoon characters from a children’s television show was hilarious. 

Now, I didn’t want to make any assumptions without proof, because hey maybe there was an actual influx of voters. Which is when I was struck with the idea - what if, assuming someone did buy those votes, that same person bought votes to win the Kataang vs. Sukka poll, which Sukka was currently winning by a substantial margin? And what if, some other person were to collect data in order to test the hypothesis that someone was buying votes? Spoiler alert - it’s me. I’m that person.

Roughly every hour, I’d take a screenshot of the poll numbers, and then I could use the numbers to see if there was a genuine steady upward trend in one direction or if there was a sudden last minute surge of votes for one side. I recruited my friend A, who lives in a different time zone and is frequently kind enough to indulge my particular brand of crazy, to collect screenshots for me for the hours after I’d be away from my computer (hence why some of the screenshots are in dark mode). Our collection is missing a shot from the 12, 11, and 1 hour out marks, but otherwise captures hourly data from 13 hours until the end of the poll, and the results are wildly entertaining.

First, the percentage of votes for Sukka vs. Kataang is consistent from 13 hours left through the 2 hours left mark. Sukka hovers around the 65% mark and Kataang hovers around the 35% mark the entire time.

Untilllll the last two hours. I wish I had a screenshot for the 1 hour mark, but alas, we must go without one. Leaving out the number of people between the 13th hour and the 10th hour (as it’s a multi-hour span), the poll averaged 21.75 new voters every hour from 10 hours left until 2 hours left. In the final two hours, the poll received 795 new votes. That’s 34% of all total votes, or slightly over 1/3, happening in the last two hours. Funnier still, of those 795 votes only 34.15 were for Sukka. The other 760.85 were for Kataang.

Serendipitously, all our screenshots happened to capture the Zukka vs. Azuki poll that was posted just below the Kataang/ Sukka match up. If you find the average number of votes per hour from the 10 hour mark to the 2 hour mark for that poll, you have an average of 26.85 new votes per hour. Which is only slightly higher than the 21.75 on the Kataang/ Sukka poll. To me, this indicates that it’s likely the numbers up to that point were genuine, because that’s roughly about the same number of people showing up to vote. In the final two hours, the Zukka/ Azuki poll had 40 new voters. The Kataang/ Sukka poll had 795.

Is it possible that this happened naturally? Yes. Is it kind of improbable? Yeah. But! It was a pattern, as something similar happened in Kataang’s previous match up (Zutara/ Kataang). Is it even more improbable for this to happen naturally twice in a row? You be the judge.

Some final thoughts - Thank you random shipper who is buying votes, because I have been giggling about how ridiculous this whole thing was all day. I’m very excited to see if the vote buyer continues their trend for the final round and slides in with some votes for a last minute win, or, realizing that the jig is up, doesn’t buy more votes and must come to terms with how they’ve unintentionally harmed their ship’s chances in the final by making many voters choose Zukka simply to spite the person buying votes. I care very little who actually wins, because the poll’s accuracy is already unquestionably tainted by this whole affair, but I’m very excited for the chaos.

Now I’m not going to even tag this, but anybody who follows me or is a mutual is likely in the Saw fandom-

I follow a good couple of Saw tags myself, mainly I’m in the shotgunshipping atmosphere- Though I also see other posts relating to all the movies and characters.

Today I stumbled upon this account, and I’ll let this screenshot tell you all you need to know for the TWs

Just thought I’d make this post so anybody who doesn’t want such content to randomly pop up on their page due to the fact they follow some Saw tags can go ahead and block them.

(I’d also like to state, that is all you should do. Interacting with this person isn’t something anybody should try to do if you’re in the same boat as me and don’t want to see those themes/topics.)

I’m in personal belief content such as this even when given a warning just doesn’t need to be up. I have not interacted with this person and I won’t tell them what they can or can’t do.

However these topics aren’t light and they shouldn’t be thrown around. No, I don’t believe they should be ignored entirely- But there is a level of care and responsibility that has to be there when uploading anything to do with them or creating content with it involved.

No exceptions.

Maybe it’s not harmful for some, but others it is, especially if they’ve gone through something similar such as SA. Not to mention tainting the image of characters that people can relate to or generally enjoy.

Gravesfield + Gravesfield County probable locations in TOH

So, out of all the Gravesfield speculation I’ve seen so far, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone try to actually parse out its specific location within Connecticut, which is a shame because that window is SURPRISINGLY narrow now that we have certain bits of information about it on our hands. Not only that, but we also know that Gravesfield is part of its own county (”Gravesfield County Zoo,” anyone?), which has a lot of interesting implications as well. At least location-wise it does—I don’t know if it has any lore connections or not, though it’d be interesting to see if it did, at least. Not the point of this post though, so whoever wants to figure that out can have at it. Anyway...

TL;DR: I’m almost 95% sure that Gravesfield is located somewhere in southwestern irl Litchfield County along Route 109, and that its county should surround it and some other cities in mostly the same area. All the evidence I have to support this is below the cut:

For those who don’t know, this was a promo image of a fake Gravesfield website homepage screenshot that was posted October 14, 2022, just before Thanks to Them aired. For the most part, it looks like a regular, albeit slightly clunky 2000s-era-looking, website, except for the bits of weirdness/dark humor littered about the text (”Escape Routes,” ��The Truth About This Place,” “Sightings,” “if you visit once, you may even wind up staying”) and the hidden text in the bottom corners of the page (which spell out “HELP THEM”). People of course freaked out about this stuff, as is evident in the replies of the original tweet, analyzed all of it to death, blah blah blah, that’s pretty much old news at this point.

There’s also a small calendar on the right side of the page that indicates that the events of the show are possibly happening on some year that the first day of October lands on a Saturday, and when accounting for Luz’s age (14/15) and her modern lingo and stuff, those years could be 2005, 2011, 2016, and 2022. Smartphones like what Luz has in her possession were definitely not around in 2005, and probably not around in 2011, so either 2016 or 2022 are reasonable in-universe years to guess, with it probably leaning more towards 2022 because of the irl show’s creation date.

I could probably make a whole separate post on my thoughts on the date stuff and speculate the hell out of it, honestly, but that isn’t the subject I want to cover in this particular post. No, I’m more interested in what seemingly no one else has picked up on here: the location hints.

The fake screenshot doesn’t explicitly say where Gravesfield is located, obviously, but it does have two pieces of information that narrow down the possibilities significantly when put together.

The first piece of information is this:

Route 109 is an actual route in Connecticut, which spans from New Milford to Thomaston as seen here:

In order for this route to be relevant to Gravesfield news, the town has to be along this route somewhere, or at least nearby it in some measure (aka it has to legally be within city bounds, which I’ll get into later). Route 109 is located in southern irl Litchfield County, which means that Gravesfield is also located in southern irl Litchfield County somewhere.

That’s pretty good and all, definitely a lot better than just throwing a dart at the map and hoping it lands somewhere decent, but it can be narrowed down even further. The second piece of information we have is this:

This is a real thing too. Regional School District 12 (or the RSD 12) is one of many school districts in Connecticut, and it happens to serve the towns of Washington, Bridgewater and Roxbury, all of which are, coincidentally, located in southern irl Litchfield County.

Washington is pretty much right on Route 109, as seen in the map above, so that means that in order for Gravesfield to be both within RSD 12 bounds and nearby Route 109 at the same time, it has to be within irl Washington’s city bounds. I’ve drawn up a diagram of sorts below with this information in mind:

The speculatory boundary I marked between the Washington and Gravesfield city bounds here is really just one rather simple possibility of how it might be cut up while still accounting for a part of Route 109 being within Gravesfield’s jurisdiction. Again, if the route weren’t part of it, it wouldn’t show up on the city website as a relevant announcement (and if it were part of a county-wide thing, it probably would have stated it as a county announcement or something).

So there you have it: most likely locations for where Gravesfield might be in Connecticut, give or take. I could speculate even further on where exactly within these areas Gravesfield could be placed, with analyzing the smaller roads and all that, but that would honestly just be pure speculation based on personal bias/preference/etc. and not, y’know, anything concrete enough to be a plausible theory, so I’ll just leave it as it is and let individual headcanons do the rest of the work on that front.

But there’s also Gravesfield County to worry about, as shown here:

(The fact that this is even a canon background thing in the show is bonkers, because holy shit I can’t imagine what kind of butterfly effect nonsense this must’ve made in-universe compared to irl history, but I digress.)

What this means is that the southern part of irl Litchfield County at minimum is actually Gravesfield County in the TOH universe by default, since it has to include Gravesfield in it, being the town its ultimately named after. And since we’ve already established Gravesfield’s approximate location here, its county could possibly look something like this:

It’s a lot less concrete than the location of Gravesfield itself, obviously, but that’s because I don’t have much else to work with here other than that one screenshot from Thanks to Them and what I’ve theorized about Gravesfield so far. For all I know, the entirety of irl Litchfield County is Gravesfield County, not just a part of it, or maybe Gravesfield County goes even further south than what I’ve depicted and contains parts of the Fairfield and New Haven counties for whatever reason—who knows, really? Whatever it might be, it’s definitely somewhere in western Connecticut, surrounding New Milford, Washington, Route 109, etc., and that’s good enough for me in the interest of sticking to the concrete stuff.

Fun fact: apparently Connecticut doesn’t have county governments nor county seats, so despite the fact that Gravesfield County is named after Gravesfield, the town itself isn’t, like, a grand authority on other places nearby or anything. Each city within the county deals with their own police, fire department, schools, hospitals, etc. (and zoos. Gravesfield is apparently big enough to have a whole-ass zoo in it. Wild.)

The only thing that might break this in some respects is, well, potential butterfly effect shenanigans. It can be argued that because Gravesfield and Gravesfield County exist in the TOH universe, the exact positions of the other counties, towns, etc. could be drastically different from where they are irl, and things like the regional school districts could have totally different boundaries and thus the triangulation I just did using them is pretty much useless, but there’s nothing confirming any of this in Word of God or in the show canon as of today, so I’m fairly confident that we’re working with a world that’s very similar to the irl world Except For Gravesfield. Unless the last special pulls some sort of epilogue nonsense in Gravesfield that completely obliterates my base-line irl world assumptions for this universe, anyway. You never know lmao

So basically, in short: Gravesfield and its eponymous county are most likely located in southern/southwestern irl Litchfield County around Route 109 or thereabouts, and probably replace that particular area as their own governmental entities instead of being part of a different county or something. I thought she liked me. Maybe I was wrong or I didn’t try hard enough. Either way…I’m fucked! There’s no way I have a chance but I’ll try. Maybe there’s a chance. I just wanna talk to her at least. We’ve been cool for a minute so it shouldn’t be that bad.

I walked up to the street to my house from the store. I was ready to go in since it was cold outside. It was around 50 degrees. I hurried into my apartment and sat my things down on the couch. I sat down and went back to Instagram to see if she had updated her posts. I clicked on her story and she posted some beautiful pictures oh herself. I hearted them, not really realizing if I was being thirsty or not. I call it showing appreciation in my book! I replied to her story, letting her know I liked them.

I can see us getting closer in the future and hopefully be together, but of course the future can change. When it comes to women, some of them are simple and don’t ask for much. As for her, she doesn’t want much, but I’d love to give her more than what she expects. I can tell she hasn’t gotten much affection in the past and she just needs some love.

She replied to my story reply by hearting it. She then said thank you with blue hearts. At least she has the decency to reply unlike others. I said she’s welcome and asked her how her day went.

“How’s your day going?”

“It’s going good. Yours?”

“It’s fine for the most part. Got any plans for Vday?”

“You know I don’t”

“Me neither. Imma be alone this year”

“Same here”

I sat and was trying to think of a clever way to ask her out, but my brain froze. Should I be straight forward or be cool and ease my way in?

“What would u like to do if u had a Valentines?”

“I don’t know. Probably go out to eat, go to the movies, have a picnic, get flowers, have rose petals waiting on the floor of a hotel room. Just a few ideas. Probably even play video games or watch mystery movies”

The message say delivered for about 40 minutes. At this point I was getting nervous and didn’t wanna end up as a screenshot on her Instagram stories. My phone vibrated a few minutes later.

“And do what?”

What you mean? We can do the shit you just said.

“We can go out and have fun somewhere. You can pick a place”

“I mean you’re the one who planned it 😭”

She’s right. I guess I can choose from the list she gave me. I’m not going to pick the hotel one since that I would be pushing it.

“I was hoping on Valentine’s Day. If that day isn’t good for you, I understand. I just wanted to do something nice. We can do it as friends”

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened Demo Thinky Thoughts

A bit late, but I wanted to share my first reaction to the Awakened demo! This is essentially an expanded version of what I wrote on the FW discord, with screenshots edited to look nicer for tumblr. I will do a separate post on the extra stuff that is normally inaccessible without Ansel. [Extra stuff post here]

So: spoilers ahead + keep in mind that the game is darker and moodier, I edited some of the screenshots so that they are clearer on tumblr/mobile view.

Sweet sweet concept art, gorgeous intro music, yay! The main theme is atmospheric and dark, giving me very slight vibes of the Sarif HQ track from DX:HR... I mean this in a good way, not in a “they copied it” way. It’s that sort of nostalgic ambience, but deeper and darker. One day I’ll stop drawing parallels to Deus Ex, but today is not that day.

The intro cinematic is pre-rendered and really good; I liked Sherlock's narration and the implication it's all in Watson's/players' hands now... He sounds more authoritative and distant than in CO.

I really liked the visual with the fly caught in the cobweb.

I did not expect this! It's a really fun title sequence and wow, we’re being thrown straight into chapter 3. I too thought it would be London but this is great 😄

WATSON!!! At this point I’m thinking, “Oooh we're gonna play as Watson, they probably don’t want to show Sherlock just yet, I know someone who's gonna be very happy about this o,o” (ahem hem, @lucere-aeresta​) I like long dialogues/cinematics so this intro was a treat. I'll have to replay of course but it felt very satisfying to see a chunk of the story here and be introduced to the new characters. There’s a lot going on!

You can walk around a little and talk to a couple of NPCs. There’s this easter egg - it’s a Lovecraft easter egg (thanks for figuring that one out, Lucere!) The paper itself is straight from Cordona. :D

You cannot pick this letter up, but the message is very clear. May be a clue in the final game.

Who’s there...? BTW this is the exact face Sherlock gives Jon when he plays the guitar too loudly in the CO seance scene :D

OH NO. LMAO! This had me in stitches, and of course I lied. Nice American accent, you dork. The subsequent journal entry essentially saying "Watson tried to act, I guess" gave me a chuckle. I tried!  So hard! And in the en-- moving on...

Here’s how the journal looks like now. The clues have updated icons and you can toggle to sort them by type (document, conversation, item, etc.) or the order in which you found them.

So yeah, Sherlock shows up in disguise and a terrible American accent, says the iconic “Guten day,” and then he gets sedated because Watson cannot lie to save his life.

Of course. OF COURSE. Now I know someone who's going to be a bit disappointed we don’t spend much time as Watson, but that's not me. 😂 My first thought -> they heard us cry and wail about the stubble and said "We're gonna make you beg to have the stubble back" Ok, ok, you win. I'm sorry. 😭

(insert half an hour of zooming around with Ansel instead of playing the damn game) This is how the game levels look when you go out of bounds!

Found some of you in the back! And in the cells! :3 (There’s a wall with photographs of the Kickstarter backers, and a row of cells with names and custom faces - although you cannot see the characters very well at this point.)

Right, I should play. The lockpicking puzzles were fun, but I'll admit I found both of them extremely easy. But I am a seasoned adventure game fan and it's a nice little thing to do for that feeling of escaping the cells. The “Mycroft” (custom) difficulty setting does let you change the puzzle difficulty, so we are probably going to face a bigger challenge in the finished game. The settings don’t make a difference in the demo, though.

FYI, there's a guard that you need to figure out how to get past. It's not a sneaking sequence, but you need some items. If he notices you 3 times he rings the alarm, and the game reloads

At this point I'm having fun just investigating stuff and admiring the new journal etc., it's all very nicely designed. It's awesome that we can sort evidence by type now! The mind palace facelift is so good and feels more involved than before.

Back to the game... I SQUEALED!!! 😄 duhhh

The biggest tease in all of the demo: THAT EXCLAMATION MARK. Let... me... see... outfits! 😂 Lovingggg the updated outfit screen, so happy there's some gorgeous lighting in there. It looked kinda bad in CO.

Okay, back to playing the game! I LIED, more photoshoots as the inmates scream, cry, and wail all around me. Sucks to be them, I guess.

Okay, Gerda! I LOVE her new design, and her voice actress too! She was so great.

Gerda is the second inmate that we meet. She wants her friend Heidi back and until then she will not talk. The first inmate that we meet is Mauricio Napoleon, it is just a short but entertaining conversation/cinematic. We don’t talk to him any more in the demo.

Something something Silent Hill 3 (Gorgeous!)

I try to play the mountain goat in every game and the absence of the jump button will not stop me

So I didn't take screenshots of the quite meaty gameplay surrounding getting Heidi back and figuring out what's going on, so here's some thoughts: - The updated crime scene investigation looks fantastic! The smokey green aesthetics are fitting and everything is much clearer than it was in CO. I like that we can see how many variations there are for each 'node'. The only thing I'm not sure about is the first person perspective - Sherlock's close focus mode - because I had trouble seeing what's different in the variations, and sometimes the models would push me back a little bit when they loaded. I'd move away from the node just by trying to see things and had trouble re-positioning... not a great deal of trouble, of course, but it is a downgrade from SHCO. I think the 3rd person mode like with Jon in CO works much better. This is my biggest criticism of the demo. - There was a tad too much running back and forth just to seemingly fetch a few items... this may be polished further, I don't know. It gave me old adventure game vibes where you kinda run back and forth for a few small things lol. - I wished we could use the items more directly and/or assemble things, not just have them as text in the inventory... but I understand that making a new puzzle feature may be too much work at this point - The "three clues" dialogue confused me for a moment, but so it did in CO as well so this may be a ‘me��� problem 😂 I keep forgetting that there are 3 different questions to answer, not that I need to present 3 accurate clues... hahah. - The darker overtones are soooo up my alley! When I figured out what had happened to one of the people in the casket... ooof anyway, time to find and assemble Heidi!

Oh so wrong 😂 I did NOTTTT expect this ahahahahhhh Hands down the best part of the demo The mental health aspect of the remake was what had me a little worried, but you know what, I think it's gonna be fine 😂 Heidi is one bad bench, and Sherlock just ACCEPTING he's now talking to a demonic doll and making the most of it is just chef's kiss Love, love, love. We're all mad here.

I unlocked a reward, and what a sweet one it is! Sadly, you cannot change your clothes in the demo. The updated physics make his chain and bag go bouncing like crazy, haha.

Nick Mag Highlights - #1 Summer 1993

Hello! Welcome to the very first edition of Nick Mag Highlights! What better place to start than with the very beginning, Issue #1 from Summer of 1993? 

(Well, not counting the two editions of Nickelodeon Magazine exclusive to Pizza Hut that came out before this first issue, although I’m sure we’ll get to those at some point.)

But before we begin, I should probably quickly explain what Nick Mag Highlights is and answer some questions first.

A Nick Mag Highlights post will mainly be composed of screenshots of pages from a specific Nickelodeon Magazine issue alongside my thoughts, whether they be commentary or little factoids. In a way these posts are a way to transcribe my thoughts on each issue as I’m reading it.

All images are not mine unless stated otherwise, scans of these issues come from the fantastic folks at archive.org. Special shout-out to The Nick Mag Project on Twitter and their awesome Google Spreadsheet outlining what issues have and have not been archived yet.

I’ll always include a link to a specific issue’s archive.org page when I cover it on a Nick Mag Highlights post. Read along if you’d like!

I don’t plan on covering Nick Magazine chronologically. Hopefully this will allow for more variety, plus I can cash in on all that budding 2000’s nostalgia way quicker!

I’m just a fan of these magazines who wants to share them with whoever is interested. 

No, not every post will have such a long-winded intro. I hope you enjoy this retrospective!

Surprise surprise, the issue’s cover opens right up to a lovely smattering of Nickelodeon merchandise AVAILABLE NOW*! 

Side note, I hope you like Ren & Stimpy, ‘cause they’re all over this book. Not a big surprise since it was one of the biggest cable television shows of the early ‘90’s, but seriously, not a single Rugrat in the whole first issue?

*whenever 1993 was considered “NOW!”

Y’know I never read the table of contents in these things when I was younger. I think it was because I didn’t want to spoil what was inside. 

Also, newcomers should take a good note on that wiggly R symbol in the bottom right, which the appearance of such denotes any article’s inarguable truthfulness. That's an element of these books that made its way into every single issue, and it must have made stomping-out misinformation on the elementary school playground at least a little easier. My writing isn't so beginner friendly, I don’t include R’s. So you’ll just have to believe me all the time.

Anyway, speaking of stuff that made its way into every issue…

Zelda. Van. Gutters. Good lord. 

I truthfully believe if there’s any iconography that will incite memories of Nick Magazine for anyone who’s in-the-know, it’s the image of a small Lakeland Terrier spouting a snarky non sequitur (that, or an image of Spongebob, I guess). She's certainly not as chatty in this as she will be in later issues, but feel free to say "Hi" if you see her.

For those unfamiliar, here’s a good example of your average Nickelodeon Magazine page: a couple of gags or a puzzle usually centered around an issue’s main theme. Since this issue doesn’t have a theme, expect a lot of flack thrown at unsuspecting teachers. Nerds need not apply.

They must have been serious about this gag, usually they save pull-out cards solely for mail-order forms for Nick Mag subscriptions.

And the very first feature in Nickelodeon Magazine’s very first issue is all about… State fairs? I love a fair as much as the next guy, but surely there were better options, like interviewing someone who drives a big truck or something. Big trucks are pretty cool.

Never give a breakfast fan the aux they’ll just put on the honeycomb rap.

Alright time for things to get serious. Even as the type of kid who usually liked the mag's interviews and other features, it's hard to deny that The Comic Book was the real star player of Nick Magazine. This section made it into every issue, and pretty quickly built up a roster of regularly updating series. Not to mention comics based Nickelodeon shows featuring stories you couldn’t find on television. Their popularity even got to the point that Nickelodeon started selling versions of the magazine that were just compilations of the comics! So yeah, these were popular.

Of course with The Comic Book, there comes even more ads.

Also, if anyone reading wants to get into the Niche Youtube Video Essay market, may I recommend tackling the rise and fall of temporary tattoos? I hardly see these anymore. A shame, too, cause these ones seem pretty cool, and they even have the Bubby seal of approval.

This was a section The Comic Book had which seemed to fade out pretty quickly into the magazine’s run: The Cartoon Calendar. A shame too, cause I actually find these pretty funny.

Here’s my favorite section from the two calendars in this issue.

Alright, so no actual Ren & Stimpy comic, instead we get a small journal writeup from Stimpy about him and Ren becoming models. Interestingly I can't help but feel this section of The Comic Book could've used a couple more pictures. Hm, wonder why…

But alas, it's all just set dressing anyway for a cutout activity, DARING you to sacrifice the eventual resale value of your rare first issue magazine in exchange for limitless dress-up fun in the short term. A worthy trade? You decide...

And here’s another section of The Comic Book Nickelodeon stopped doing fairly quickly (to my knowledge, anyway): the reprinting of old comics from the 40’s and 50’s. This issue has two reprints. There’s two reasons I could think of why they did this. One would be that the staff behind the magazine read these comics when they were kids and wanted to share them with a new audience, which is a cause I can obviously sympathize with. The more cynical reason is that Nickelodeon had the rights to some old comics and they used them to fluff up their page count. Regardless, once they stopped doing this it made more room for original content. Content like…

Bill Beak! Yeah I’m figuring this guy did not last long. He definitely wasn’t around when I started reading Nick Magazine. I’m not surprised! He sucks! Deeply unpleasant.

But you know what doesn’t suck and was still around when I started reading Nick Magazine? 

Scene But Not Heard (which interestingly doesn’t seem to have its name yet) was definitely an iconic part of Nickelodeon Magazine. If it wasn’t in every single issue, then it certainly must have been in most of them. These were done by cartoonist Sam Henderson, who went on to work on Season 3 of Spongebob Squarepants, and that ended up landing him an Emmy nomination. Pretty cool stuff, and these comics were always worth a smile.

Embarrassing display from Nickelodeon Magazine’s local toy store… Really glad Nick saved a page in their magazine to expose those guys.

And to promote the release of the 1993 movie Super Mario Bros., Nick got Luigi’s actor John Leguizamo to say a few words straight from the Nickelodeon “Movie Couch”.

He sure does seem thrilled to be here.

After that there’s some insane article about chewing gum that has nothing to do with anything. And then there’s this article about a fictional professor studying the history of troll dolls. Hey, I think this magazine might be a little wacky!

OOZE News… Y’know, come to think of it, this magazine has been pretty lacking in slime, slop, and ooze. Especially for something created by Nickelodeon in the 90’s. Even here this just seems to be giving the low-down on new episodes and happenings related to Nickelodeon shows. Hardly anything I’d call slimy!

Oh, nevermind.

I’m shocked by the amount of apparently recurring features this magazine had phased out by the time I started reading in the 2000's. Had to make more room for IPHONEs and JAVASCRIPTs, I guess, so kids never got to see a lady eating not-nice things. Thanks Web 2.0!

Lots of fond memories here! I’m pretty sure most of the rides in this list aren't around anymore, which is a shame. And even if the E.T. ride was responsible for inspiring my crippling fear of that little beef-jerky-looking alien bastard, that didn’t change how awesome the park was.

Okay first off: TV Table, obviously. Second off: QZ is a little creep and I don’t like that he was given the opportunity to give children advice. He’s 500 years old and “observes Earth and knows everything about the personal lives of its inhabitants, including its letter writers”? This guy is bad news. THIRD off: How did he already get a letter addressed to him if this is his first ever appearance, hm? All very suspicious.

Rounding off our journey is one last recurring segment: Say What?. Kids from across America were urged to muster up the funniest set-up and payoff they could make with a given photo, usually either of politicians or a stock photo of some kids. I don’t mean to spoil, but as far as I can remember, most of the answers had to do with farts. You probably could have guessed that yourself, but hey, I could be wrong!

And that’s Issue #1 of Nickelodeon Magazine! Well, most of it anyway. What a humble start to a publication so near and dear to so many people.

Anyone actually reading along may have noticed I skipped over some stuff, including a Clarissa Explains It All-themed section with a quiz on driving etiquette. I know that show was popular with a lot of people but I personally know nothing about it, and I’m not gonna bring something up if I have nothing to say on it. I did get a B on the quiz though, if you’re curious.

Gonna say something before I get busy

With the situation going on with me with allegations such as inappropriate behavior with minors, stalking, harassment etc while also have involvement with the MoA group and Cashew, I have to say something about it especially since it seems like I’m the main problem to it. Though I cannot say much of it at the moment due to the complexity of the drama itself while also have to deal with IRL stuff like university

The main reason why I blocked the callout accounts was for the sake of my mental health and stopping myself from making myself paranoid and bothered going back and forth looking at what I had done, despite it was stopped a few months ago. Wherever you are, yes I am aware of what I had done, just that it really drained me a lot to process this. Most of the decisions were done with advices from others. Talked to my close friends and taking with someone and their advices on the things I dealt with lately. It takes a while for me to calm myself down to a stable state especially when things going on right now is busy for me. When this post is done, that is when I have calmed myself, though there are things in my head that still lingers in me.

Anything involved with Cashew was me fawning over her, mainly because I dont want to hurt her feelings. I was clueless on what is going on other than comforting Cashew, despite the things I comforted her ends up feeding the hate towards her victim. When Cashew said that we (me and the people in the MoA group) manipulated and enabled her, I was furious by it while she also provided screenshots of the MoA creators tracing the art from other artists (note that they only traced the poses, while also had a different understanding what tracing were in their definition) despite the fact it was from months ago. Plus, the issue regarding the “traced” art was brought up before to me by Fortress. Fortress did not brought the issue up directly to the MoA creators but instead at other people who are newly acquainted with them, one of which was me. I felt violated and I was shaken by it because its not something I was not supposed to deal with. People say they wanted to settle in DMs. If so, why are you settle with someone who is not responsible with that particular issues? Why did you bring up about the tracing issues as if its a big deal if the MoA creators already stop doing it since February?

The fact that someone attempted to call the police on me is too far, in my opinion. Thankfully it never happened since I lived from a different country. But even when they did called on me, that would’ve considered as doxxing. They probably aren’t aware that the country I live in is really lgbtphobic which could’ve got me into physical punishments and my family is pretty conservative. Additionally, I would’ve been discarded from uni if they tried to attempt it which make it difficult. Though, it is more likely it would not work since my country have laws that are possibly different to the laws in the US, and most of the situation happens online and not IRL.

To those who stayed, I am grateful for it and I wanted to thank to those who reassured me due to the situation going on while being at my side. Though I apologize if those issues I shared regarding the situation I dealt with bothered you, along with those people who also got into the mess similar to me. For the people who stayed neutral with the situation, I’m glad that people make the decision to analyze the situation going on and pointed out certain points that does not add up, or when something is missing.

I’ll be only lurking here liking and reblogging some art here. Art stuff will be posted less frequently and it’s mostly going to be doodles and possibly some art stuff I did for uni. Social interaction will be only done within my remaining online friends (mainly those from the MoA group and people who were in the server(s) I’m formerly in) on Discord, unless I decided to reconnect with the people I rarely talked to. Adding on, I’ll also be interacting with my IRL friends on Twitter and Instagram since those are the only social medias that they are active roaming around the most and I wanted to (re)connect with them esp since I’m in uni now.

I’m planning to do a response to the Cashew doc if I have time, since I already talked to the writer of the doc and it was already settled on the decisions before the acc itself deactivated, but the doc itself is still up. Once I made the response, I will also share the post my friend made regarding it too

I've only been playing one of them for a couple days, but I think I'm ready to declare Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Vampire Survivors my favorite games of this year, both that came out this year or just that I've played this year.

One of these days I’ll make that XC3 post, but in the meantime Vampire Survivors is great. I know that’s a brave and controversial opinion. It’s completely chaotic but still feels like it’s usually pretty easy to tell what’s going on and what you’re working toward, the progression is really well tuned, and the entire thing is one giant reference to the older Castlevania games.

@solunderscore said that it’s a game about setting boundaries after I shared a screenshot that I described as “you have now entered the no touchy zone”, but I’m going to go a step further and say that it’s a better game about setting boundaries than the game I played this year that’s explicitly about boundaries, Say No! More. Vampire Survivors wins for me because I both enjoy playing it a lot more and because you can enforce your boundaries with exotic magical weaponry.

I don’t think there’s really much competition for those two for my favorite things I’ve played this year unless you count XC2, but it loses points for not being from this year and for me also having played a good chunk of it already before this year (and then stopping for a while because Tora). Gris is probably up there too, and if Radiant Historia keeps doing things as well as it has so far until the end that definitely will be too, but I still haven’t finished that one. Also Hades, which I’m almost done with, but I still feel not done with it because there’s a bit more stuff I haven’t done yet.

Bleed 2 and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle might be the next ones down. Astria Ascending I definitely liked a lot and spend a ton of time with, but it’s enough of a mess that I can’t recommend it as highly to just anyone. Egglia Rebirth is kind of in that zone too, and I still haven’t finished that one either because it gets a little repetitive trying to do too much at once, even if I like all of it.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore and The World Ends With You Final Remix both have things about them that are as good as anything else I’ve mentioned, but I haven’t finished either yet and both also have enough frustrating things to knock them down a bit overall. Bravely Default is in the same boat with them, which I love a lot of stuff about but also am very frustrated by some other things. I would like to go back and finish all three some day though, because when they’re good they’re great.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes might be my biggest disappointments this year. I like a bunch of stuff about them but can’t really bring myself to play more of either. FE3H is one of the only games to ever cause motion sickness for me, and also it just feels really janky to me outside of battles, and FEW3H doesn’t feel as good to me to play as any of the other Nintendo Warriors games.

Next to those I definitely had even more and bigger problems with Injustice 2 compared to the first game in that series, but I also wasn’t expecting quite as much from it as from the FE games. Borderlands 3 can live here too I guess. So good in some ways, completely unbearable in others.

And then there’s stuff that seems perfectly fine but that I bounced off really hard like Celeste and Hollow Knight. Nothing against either, they just didn’t feel right to me at all.

Right, screenshots and commentary. I promised screenshots and commentary. Since I played the Gathering of Old Friends and Hogsmeade Festival quests back to back, I’ll tackle them together: a little about the former, most about the latter. Screenshots first, comments throughout, critique at the end of the post.

A Gathering of Old Friends

Lily isn’t surprised anymore. No one should be surprised anymore.

This is heartbreaking, what the heck.

That’s it for the first one. Those are the only two moments that motivated me to capture them.

Hogsmeade Festival

This is the funniest thing she could have said. It’s probably intended to be a threat, but the ambiguous tone makes it so much better. Five bucks say the writers are also poking fun at themselves.

What is this duo? How do Jae Kim and Felix Rosier know each other? Why are they meeting in the most disreputable establishment in the village? What is going on? I have so many questions.

Penny. Ben, Penny, and Andre only tagged along for the drama, and I am here for it. They helped a bit, but mostly—drama.

Whoever wrote this quest has to have siblings.

Distracted by this wonderful line, I am just now noticing that Ben had to get an extra chair because the tables are intended for two. This means he let Penny and Andre have the cushy chairs while he took the wooden one. Background details on point, wow.

This. This is what makes the ending of this quest so good. Their relationship isn’t fixed, and it wouldn’t be. A single day isn’t going to fix years of bitterness. Everybody isn’t happy again, but there’s potential for progress. Family is complicated, and this quest handles the nuances of it shockingly well.

*cue evil laughter* Oh, Rosmerta, you have no idea what is going to happen in six years. None of you do.

Alrighty, critique. I’ll try to be brief. These are just my own opinions, so if you had different experiences with these quests, that’s cool! Don’t let me influence what you enjoy.

I didn’t enjoy the Gathering of Old Friends quest, primarily because it had so much potential and fell just short of it. The pacing was off: most of the quest was devoted to building suspense, but when the “big reveal” happened, all that tension fizzled out by having Penny run off too soon (straight into an 8-hour task). I would have liked to see them hold that moment longer, play into the shock of Scarlett’s return from the dead more, then have Penny run off. That reveal also happened too close to the end of the quest. The shock and anger Penny did show was good, but she accepted Scarlett’s return too quickly, likely because there wasn’t any time left in the quest. I would have preferred some of the earlier tasks be cut (looking at you, “review Petrificus Totalus”) in favor of devoting more time to handling the aftermath of that reveal.

Overall, the writers tried to do too much in too little time, making suspension of disbelief difficult. This was worsened by much of the dialogue sounding off to the point of characters bordering on OOC. So, yeah, not the worst quest (Torvus and the Troubled Forest sets a low bar), but not my favorite either.

The Hogsmeade Festival quest, on the other hand, had to have had a different set of writers. The pacing was significantly better. Far fewer tasks felt pointless—the typical “talk to Flitwick” task actually involved more than a simple spell, and the whole “calm the matagots” situation was relevant later on (major points for that one). Despite being 90% certain who the saboteur was (and 100% correct), I was fully engaged with the mystery in the beginning, especially because Ismelda’s lines were written well enough to have me second guess myself a few times. All the dialogue in this quest was so much better than the last one, and I genuinely laughed at many of the jokes. There were a lot more dialogue options too, which was fun.

And the ending. I already said it above, but I loved the open ending. The Murk sisters didn’t fully forgive each other, they didn’t fix their relationship, but they opened the door to progress that may or may not happen, which is the best, most realistic direction this quest could have gone. Out of all the recent quests, this one is definitely my favorite.

Been viewing a lot of transgender-related memes lately, between the Youtube channel One Topic at a Time being recommended to me and showing /r/Traa and /r/egg_irl memes, and also proceeding to visit reddit.com/r/egg_irl and scroll through the best posts of all time for hours (it stops scrolling when you get down to about 5.2k upvotes on stuff though). I'm not sure if it's just empathy but I keep wondering about myself more than usual as a consequence. Like, the memes weren't super relatable but there's definitely a part of me that wishes they were (feel free to imagine "part of me" is in purple as a Celeste reference if you want).

I'd probably just brush it off if nothing suspicious had happened before, but stuff with varying degrees of suspicion has happened before.

There was one time sometime in the past couple years (it might've been just a few months ago, but time is fake these days) where I tried to look into whether it was possible to naturally shift the testosterone/estrogen balance just a little, eg with food, just to see what it was like. I know actually DIYing the hormones for a transition is a bad idea, but figured if anything was possible with food it would be minor enough to be harmless. My unfortunate finding, as I'm sure others have found before, was that although some foods are known to have hormones like estrogen present, there's no way it gets processed by the body.

After that I had a couple dreams on the subject of being transgender. I tend not to remember most of my dreams at all, and even then it's more like getting a screenshot with a description than a movie. Here's what I remember: -In one, it was about trying to socially transition, essentially. I was already dressed in unspecified feminine clothing (dream knowledge: I didn't see myself at any point) and showing a wig I was thinking about getting to an unspecified friend. During this scene, a browser history of voice training videos flashed through my mind (though I haven't actually tried any before in real life, just thought about it). -In the other one, I was in a dentist waiting room packed with women. I was told I couldn't be there because it was "women's day", and I wasn't sure whether I should insist I belonged because I had an appointment or because I was a woman. (This situation did not play out further as far as I remember: snapshots, not movies) -I feel vaguely like there was a third dream in between those two as well, but it's totally gone from memory now.

Much earlier, in late 2012, I'd joined an RP group that was, at least at the start, entirely text-based, so after a few days I was asked what my gender actually was. I'll admit that I thought for a few moments about how it might be the best chance I'd get to explore another identity, although I did decide against it due to both honesty reasons and concerns about voice calls or otherwise not being able to keep up the identity.

A few times a year I have idle thoughts about a second Youtube channel that uses either a voice changer or voice training to seem female. I barely run one Youtube channel, so I'm not sure where the time would come from even if I was actually willing to commit. Like, I don't even really market the one I have.

I actually own some tall rainbow socks. Unfortunately they kinda slide down over time so I don't really like wearing them. Maybe if there was better elastic up top. I also have some leg warmers that were marketed to women but they somehow feel less gendered than even the socks.

Also, there was a nonzero amount of envy for that streamer that's been in "girl mode" for, like, 5 months.

That was probably the most overt stuff, but, like, much earlier I remember taking some Facebook quiz (which shows how long ago this was considering I used Facebook for about a year) about how masculine/feminine your mind was, and even though it was just a facebook quiz I remember I wanted it to be more feminine, even though it was already something like 30-40%. What an odd thing to still remember after all this time though, huh?

There's also that time I was oddly happy when in a 3-game streak of Munchkin it was always me getting the Sex Change Curse trap, even though we handled it totally mechanically and didn't make any sort of big deal out of it at all.

Getting into even more vaguely related stuff, there is of course the amount of female characters I've chosen to play in video games even when there's no mechanical difference (eg in Pokemon, World of Warcraft, or critically aclaimed MMO Final Fantasy XIV with free trial something something Heavensward level 60).

I'm sure I'm also just leaving a lot of little moments out.

Anyway, I believe if I say "still cis though" it's as powerful an incantation as "no homo" so yeah. This is clearly just the regular amount of gender fluidity or whatever. Nothing to unpack here.

But seriously, I don't think I'm anywhere close to considering changing names/prounouns (yet?) but this stuff is on my mind. On a masculine/feminine spectrum things are probably still tilted towards the masculine side. Or if they're not opposites and thus should be measured separately, I'm honestly probably low-ish on both (I guess that'd make me nonbinary if true?). I'm sure I have mostly masculine habits, of course, but I don't feel any particular need to be manly.

I feel like I'm trying to follow multiple separate conclusions here, but did want to remark that, the memes do make it sound like making the skirt go spinny would be fun, if I wanted to buy one just for that. The thing is, I think I'd feel super awkward doing anything clearly feminine around literally anyone: even just my nonbinary housemate. I guess since I'm not changing anything I'm not quite sure why I felt the need to type all this out and post it. There's a voice in my mind going "But why? What seekest thee?" That voice is Crossbreed Priscilla from Dark Souls, but she has a point.
