Tumblr media
As you approach the capital, you can’t help but poke your head up to admire the domes of the great castle and the high towers. The gates stand open as the party advances, in wait of their new liege and lord. You shield your eyes against the sun as you gaze at the silhouette of the mighty architecture.
“May as well get a good gander,” Bryce says, “doubt the kitchens are any more glorious than the ones you know.”
“Mm,” you retract your gaze and sigh, “suppose. But they will still be new to me.”
“Not all that is new is wondrous,” he girds. “For as much as I’ve seen in this world, it is the familiar that keeps me sane.”
You nod and let the cart rock you. Ahead of you, the horses tread over rocks and dirt, wagons bounce and creak, and some servants walk afoot to ease the cramps in their legs. You lean lazily on a chest and fold your hands in your lap. It will at least be nice to stay beneath a proper roof again.
The streets of the city are crowded with faces. They do not holler for you but you can hear the raucous uproar ahead as the king and queen ride between the citizens. There are even more black and grey soldiers stationed along the roads, awaiting your arrival.
As you wind up to the royal castle, the noise grows tantamount. At the walls of the grand structure, clusters of people threaten to crush the party between their writhing bodies. It takes some time after the king’s entrance for the luggage to make way into the courtyard.
The carts depart around the back of the castle as the horses make way for the stables. You climb out as Bryce lurks around, dismounting Daisy with a grunt as he rubs his lower back. You glance over at him as the other servants quickly fall into work.
“Maid,” he calls to you before you can follow suit, “no doubt the queen will need to wash away the road before she faces the hordes.”
He beckons you forth with his gauntlet and you diligently near him. He hands off Daisy to a castle servant and carries on inside. You scurry beside him as he stops and gauges his surroundings. He is not versed with the corridors but he presses on unimpeded.
You turn back a few times before you reach the great hall. It is crowded and chaotic. The soldier strides through without pause. You nearly grab onto him just to keep from being lost in the stirring of soldiers and servants, and the tittering lords and ladies in their colourful garb.
Up the stairs and a few questions grunted to his comrades, Bryce takes you down to a set of chambers with yet another soldier before it. You’re let inside without question. You find Queen Jazlene before a steaming basin as another servant cleans her face.
The queen scrunches up her nose and swats the lady servant, the maid still in the former king’s colours; burnt autumn orange and goldenrod yellow.
“Watch my eyes, you moron,” Jazlene chides and jabs her nail into the maid’s ribs.
“My lady, I didn’t mean--”
“I am a queen, not a lady,” Jazlene hisses, “be gone before I have your teeth knocked out of that stupid mouth of yours.”
The other maid wrings the cloth and steps back on her heel, chewing on an apology before she spins to flee. As she nears the door, she notices you and gives a panicked look. You reach to take the cloth from her before you go to the queen.
“Your highness,” you greet her and dip the cloth back in the steaming water. “Would you like me to put ribbons in your hair?”
“Mm, I suppose,” she tilts her face up and closes her eyes, “once the dirt is gone. By gods, I hate traveling.”
You gently wipe along her hairline and trace the outline of her face. You delicately but intently clean away the errant dust and streaks. You drape the cloth over the brim of the basin and turn to the table.
“And would you like your lips painted?” You intone. “Your highness, I do think your natural tones are beautiful.”
As you peek back at her, her eyes open and she stares at you. Her nostrils compress as she inhales. She puts her head straight and looks at her reflection.
“Do you think so?” She touches her cheeks.
“Yes, I do, if you line your eyes, they might appear bigger but they are so lovely and dark already,” you compliment.
She hums and tilts her head, turning her attention back on you, “it’s you.”
You lower your head, “your highness?”
“You’re always flitting around like some bird,” she sniffs, “suppose you are not so... agitating as the other. Yes, ribbons and some kohl. Then I will have one of the former queen’s gowns. They have delivered her wardrobe to me.”
“Yes, your highness,” you say and go to work.
You settle into your usual lull. The queen sips from her goblet as you twine ribbons with her curls, a halo around the crown of her head as coiling strands hang down to her back. She looks even more immaculate than you’ve seen her before.
She calls for a dress and you bring her several options from those strewn across the large bed. She chooses the lavender and you help her into the light silk. You relace it to account for her lither figure, the former queen having some extra years in her hips.
When she is dressed, she twirls before the mirror. She stops and sets her chin straight and glares at herself. She arches a brow coyly.
“I cannot wait to see Lady Florence,” she scoffs, “she will choke when she realises I am her queen.”
You linger by the wall, blending into the tapestry as she sighs and eyes the glass affectionately. She primps herself and spins again.
“Well then, I must be overdue,” she goes to the door, “I must go to the king and show him I can be his queen.”
You open the door for her and follow her out. The soldiers outside glance at her but do not move or speak. Bryce comes up beside you as you trail after Jazlene. She struts to the end of the corridor and is stopped by another guard at another door.
“Do not think to stop me,” she spits, “I am the queen,” she flicks her fingers in his direction, “don’t be absurd.”
The man lets her through as she tugs on the latch and his dull eyes stare past her. She hardly has the effect she thinks. People do not admire her so much as they tolerate her.
She sweeps into the chamber as you wait outside. Bryce lets out a gritty breath and taps his fingers on his sword pommel. He chews more of the sweet leaves he loves so much. Jazlene emerges with a doe-like look.
“Where is the king?” She exclaims.
“He has gone to address the people,” the guard picks at his teeth. “He tired of waiting--”
“Do not tell me about the king,” Jazlene snaps on the soldier, “ugh, let us find my husband. How can he think to face my people without me at his side?”
She storms onward and you can only follow. She will no doubt need wine sooner than later, though you wish she might take more water or milk instead. Bryce keeps your pace slowed as he makes little haste.
As she descends the steps, you can hear the king’s voice. The crowd is hushed, almost hypnotised as he speaks from atop a chair. Somehow, he is both overwhelming and unassuming. Jazlene shows as she sees him. The crowd does not move out of her way as they are rapt in his words.
“...do not come as conquerer, but as liberator,” he declares, “I am not here to suppress but to unite. Our kingdoms, forged together as one, can attain glory. Peace. Joy. Our people needn’t suffer the droughts or frost rot without relief. By coming together, we will join summer and winter in harmony,” the king holds his sword, the tip on the armrest of the wooden chair, “to you lords who stayed loyal to Waleran, I do not seek retribution. You only did your duty and served the king you put an oath to. You had no part in his violations upon myself. I am aware you could not rein in your greedy master. You will keep what is yours, as by rights, but you will swear fealty to the new crown.”
King Geralt looks around the hall, “I have spoken to the farmers and the peasants, I have seen the beauty of your lands. I wish not to ravage it but to build it. You will not have only from me writs and declarations, you will have fields sown, you will have harvests reaped, you will have coin in flow, and you will have full bellies.”
He raises his great sword over his head. The large weapon could be held only by two-hands in anothers grasp but he lifts it effortlessly.
“I saw how your king tucked tail when he saw me on the field. After you good lords followed him to battle and sacrificed your men and your blood. He could not stand and fight, but many of you did, many of you not here today. I will not let their souls be spent in vain,” he pauses and his golden eyes rove around the room. He points his sword suddenly towards you but not quite, at Jazlene, “I have taken a summer wife.” He curls his fingers to gesture her to him. People swivel to see her and clear the path to the king, “a winter’s king must have a summer’s queen, if our kingdoms our to rise anew.”
Jazlene sways before she gets her footing. She moves forward, chin high as she lets a grin break out over her face. She looks this way and that, gloating as she goes to her husband. He steps down as she approaches and he takes her hand. He helps her up on the chair herself and she seems almost confused by the act.
“Queen Jazlene of Debray,” King Geralt proclaims, “she will return with me to the Hinterlands to see that order is kept across our realm and perhaps, the next time I look upon you all, I will have an heir to present to you. A young prince to lead us into the sun ahead.”
He raises Jazlene’s hand as she fawns. The crowd breaks out in racket, voices swelling to the rooves as you’re jostled against Bryce. The lords and ladies, servants and soldiers, throw up fists and hoot and holler.
The king brings his sword up again, silence falling at the gleam of its silver blade, “but first, a feast!”
The fervour is even louder as the hall explodes in glee. You hear it ripple out the doors into the crowd without and like an ocean, the tides carry through the courtyard and front gates, streaming into the city. Peace has come and old grudges cannot take the shine from the gift of a king’s mercy.
⚔️
“Your highness, we heard of what happened on Stag’s River,” an earl, you think he said his name was Kelvan, “it was a brave stand. Admirable, even standing upon the other ridge.”
“You were there?” King Geralt muses, “mm, how fortunate our paths did not cross.”
“Indeed, your highness,” the earl agrees, “I must admit, I dreaded it.”
“But here we are, alive, together, as allies. It is all I ever wanted.”
“And we knew it. We knew it, my liege, for when you let our men march back at all, we saw your grace,” Kelvan smiles.
“Yes, but I have only ever admired your lands, never had I wanted to ruin them,” the king assures as he looks over at his wife.
“He is a brave and good king,” Queen Jazlene praises as she puts her hand over the king’s.
Lord Kelvan’s lips ripple, “mm, yes, I have not seen your father yet. If I shan’t happen upon the Duke, you will send my regards.”
There’s an edge that makes you uneasy. You see how Jazlene bobs her head, “so I shall.”
She doesn’t seem to notice the tick of resent in the earl’s cheek. How odd it is that they are so fond of the invader and yet their own kith and kin, they cannot help but revile. You’ve heard the whispers swirling already. It was not King Geralt who betrayed these people but this snakish woman and her blood.
“Wine, girl, now,” Jazlene snaps as the early departs back to his seat.
You stand against the wall, just behind the bench she shares with the king. You come forward with the jug reserved only for her, nearing between the shoulders of the royal couple. Before you can put the spout to brim, King Geralt’s hand catches the swollen belly of the ewer.
“Perhaps you might have some more lamb before you indulge further, wife,” he girds.
“It is a feast,” she slurs, “I am only celebrating. With you,” she touches his sleeve, “my king.”
“I see that,” his voice is low but firm, “yet you are a queen and your subjects are watching.”
“I can stomach my wine,” she sneers.
He huffs and wraps his hand around the bottom of the handle, just below your grip. He wiggles it away from you and sets it on the other side of his plate. Jazlene lets out a childish gasp.
“It is just wine,” she snivels.
King Geralt runs his fingers along his collar, “we are having a good night,” he says as he peers out on the crowd, “please, let us not make a scene.”
“I am not making a scene. I am the queen and I want more wine,” she insists.
He faces forward completely. You stay as you are, trapped in their indecision. He blocks the jug with his elbow and she claps her hands on her lap and kicks her feet.
“Perhaps you should have some of that wine,” she mutters, “it might make you kinder.”
The king doesn’t reply and instead greets another lord; one who introduces himself as the Count of Bress. As they speak, Jazlene leans back on the bench and tugs your skirt. You look down at her.
“Find more wine,” she growls, “and don’t be obvious about it.”
“Your highness, but the king--”
“I am your master, not him,” she snarls and nudges you harshly, “be away before I lose my patience.”
You dip your head and notice how the king’s head turns towards his wife. You don’t look back as you critter off quickly into the shadows. You might be better to take your time and tell her you could not abscond any more wine. If you wait long enough, it might even slip her mind, as so often her desires fade into the next.

Medic!Reader × Poly!141
Part I | Part II | Part III
[Tags: platonic, fluff, self-indulgent]
A/N: This fic is dedicated for @rainlovesyou12 hope you like it <3
You are a medic, and you come from a rich family, so naturally you're placed in an elite team, at least populated by polite men
While you're not a spoiled brat, you sometimes dare to challenge anyone when you disagree with them. Your "courage" is usually dubbed as rich kid syndrome in the military
Strangely, the captain (Price) is amused by your behavior
He never scolded you, even when people said he should
Your job is a medic, but you're more like a secretary of the team.
You help Price with the paperworks, taking care of the base, and sometimes even their foods.
He also asks you to accompany him to meetings or private talks with the superior, the reason? They don't give him a proper secretary, even when they should.
When you first come in, the team is still on a mission. It took 3 whole months before you met the whole team
Your first reaction: "Wow, life's so unfair."
Their heights tower you that it's almost unreal
When you greet them one by one, a member catches your eyes
It's Soap
As a medic, it's your obligation to heal them if they have any injury. So when you see the blood on his clothes, you immediately point it out to him
"You're injured!"
He seems confused for a second as he looks down to his gears, before he laughs. "Tha' ain't my blood, bonnie."
"Still, I have to check if you have any wounds."
Surprisingly, most of them are minor
You begin to check the other members, but it's the same for them too. Just scratches and bruises
They'd dismiss you, if not for your question about their discomfort, or if they had any dislocation
And that makes them all your patients
Even the reluctant Ghost finally gave in. "Fucking hell Price, she's a pushover." He said, "You'll come to like it someday" Price replied
After that, you and the team settle in the base, trying to get used to each other's company
(You also didn't ask questions on why the big man is still wearing a mask even though he's in the base)
Soap, and Gaz are the easiest to talk to, while Ghost is just polite, but still keeps his distance.
The three of you bond over food, because it's mandatory to cook if you wanna save money. You and Gaz are great at it, while Soap is strictly prohibited from entering the kitchen
Soap absolutely ravaged the foods that you joked about how he always makes the plates squeaky clean
On rare occasions, the giant man does show up at the table
When you ask him about what they eat usually, you can't believe your ear
"I ate the ratio that's been provided by the base." "You ate that dogshit???"
You end up scolding him (unintentionally) and end up telling him to eat the cooked food, but when he gets defensive, you tell him he doesn't have to eat together, just reheat the food whenever he's hungry
He didn't touch the food for 2 days, until one day, the leftover is gone, and the dishes were washed
You have no idea when did he do it, but you're glad nevertheless
Remember when I said you're more of a secretary than a medic? That Price often took you to meetings? Well, that leads you to an unfortunate meeting with Graves
Even Price was hesitant to bring you along
When you first met him, he's exactly the man that you picture in your head; arrogant, stuck up, flashy, and playboy. Basically all the bad stuff
He shamelessly flirts with you, to the point that Price has to clear his throat to remind him of the ongoing negotiation
One time he asks you (forcibly) if you'd like a bottle of a fancy wine that you don't even know
"You look like a girl that'd enjoy the Chateau Lynch-Bages' Pauillac." He'd smile
After several failed attempts to decline, you eventually give up
"I'm flattered that you'd give me such luxurious items, but I'd love to receive basic ingredients for cake. That way I can repay you back, how's that sound?"
He literally takes it as flirting
The next day, you literally received the high quality flour, eggs, sugar, etc etc that come in 2 boxes, along with a message: "While I hope you'd return the favor in some other way, I can't wait to taste what you made" and a scribbled wink
You end up baking a peanut caramel chocolate cake (A/N: try it, it's soooo good) because of the amount of chocolate he gave
The team watch you as you assemble the cake
You cut the cake into a good size for gift, and give the rest to the team
They treat it like a delicacy
After you sent it via his man, you received his reply on the next day
"I know you didn't give me all of the cake, so I hope you'll make up for it the next time. Ps. I like it, you should make more for me in the future" along with the abominable wink
Although you're irked by his narcissism, you feel a bit embarrassed and puzzled that he knew it's not the whole cake
You try to figure out how, and finally it clicks; he purposely bought a bigger size pan, and a medium sized box. Along with the evidence of a long rollcake box that somehow can fit the rest of the cake. You sigh, this man is really petty
And stubborn as well
The pile of unopened letters, with his name signed on the back would be the proof of it
Soap and Gaz tease you about him when they read the notes, but you dismiss them by saying: "I'd rather date Ghost than him."
Fast forward, Price and Gaz'll leave for a mission for months. But Soap and Ghost stay behind
Weeks would pass relatively quiet, and they're still radio silent. You couldn't help but worry, though Soap quickly assured you that they'd be fine
Ghost still kept a distance between you and him, until one night, when you and Soap fell asleep on a movie marathon, you woke up startled by the sight of him on the sofa.
"Shit, you scared me."
"I'd be surprised if you didn't."
"Why are you here?" You quickly corrected yourself, "It's not that you're not welcomed, but you're not around much, so…"
"No reason, just feel like it."
Silence
Then you gather the courage to say, "By the way, I'm glad that you didn't eat those ratios anymore. Let me know if you crave something in particular, I'll try to make it."
He just stares at you, before saying, "I don't understand, Price can just order takeouts for us, why should you burden yourself with cooking? Aren't you a medic?"
"Well," you scratch your head, "I'm the one who suggested it, because I couldn't stand eating takeouts everyday. The foods he ordered were greasy, and I didn't want to get sick because of it."
He lets out a snort, "You don't have to care about your weight when you're in the military."
"It's not about that." You shook your head, "But if you said it that way, well, I won't be here forever, so I have to maintain it somehow. Besides, I'd like to keep my cholesterol level normal so I won't die of heart failure or something."
That catches his attention as he gives out a small laugh, "The doctors I knew are either dead or diabetic. You're the first one that cares about your own health."
You shrug, "As I should. You should too."
For a split second, you let out a cold sweat, wondering if it somehow offends him for some reason, before you let yourself relax when he continues watching the TV. The two of you watch in silence, before you fall asleep again
Nearing the arrival of your team, you decide to busy yourself with dinner. Which, more like grocery shopping and planning on the dishes
"They usually eat pizzas after a long mission, ye don't have to do that." Said Soap one morning
"I don't care if they end up ordering pizzas." He furrows his brows at you, "I just feel the need to do that, I don't know why."
He playfully grins, "Wife instinct?"
"That's not it," you laugh it off, "It's just that, Price ever said to me that maybe one day, one of them won't ever come back. It has stuck with me ever since, and I don't wanna think about that at all."
He nods understandingly. You need a distraction
"Let me help then."
You both settle with beef bowl, eggs, and potato salad, based on his input that 'they'd probably want to eat a lot, so just make them easy to get refill'
You bought a ton of sliced beefs and onion, rice, and potatoes
The day that they come back, you're hit with a bad feeling and fear the worst, but after seeing them both in one piece, you let out a relief sigh
Still, the dark mood is still persistent
They look like they don't have any appetite, even for a pizza
You actually would let them rest, if they didn't look like they're malnourished
(Actually, when you think back, it's just an excuse to feed them. You actually just want them to eat your food)
"Would you guys like a beef bowl?"
Price perks up at the offer
"Well shite (Name), just what I need."
You tell him there's also potato salad, but that day he just wants the rice
They end up eating one portion—a small size compared to what they usually eat
They're still quiet even after the dinner, so you decide to excuse yourself, giving them space and the rest they need
You're in the office, sorting through documents until Price knocks on the door
He looks weary but still offers you a smile
"I'm sorry for being so gloomy tonight." He told you
"That's fine, really. You don't have to apologize."
"I feel like I have to, especially when you too are affected by it."
You let out an awkward chuckle, "Well, it's nothing like that. I know you guys are tired so I don't wanna bother you with too many questions." You shrug, "Anyway, I'm glad you guys are alright."
A warm smile spreads on his lips, "You're a good girl, too good for us men." He uncrosses his legs as he leans away from the door frame, "Thank you for the food, we'll talk again tomorrow, yeah?"
The two of you exchange a "goodnight" as he walks away, and you come back to your work
After Price, you didn't expect anyone to come to your place again, until the second person showed up at your door. You lift your head and see Gaz standing there, almost shyly
"Oh hey." You greet him, "Didn't see you there. Need anything?"
"Hey." He greets back, "No, I don't need anything. Just checking on you."
You tilt your head, face clearly shows a questioning look but you cover it with a smile
"Uh, y'know what? I wish I could tell you what happened, you must've been worried about—"
"Oh, no, no. You don't have to tell me. I don't wanna know either." You offer him a reassurance, "Don't worry about it, Gaz."
He seems relieved upon hearing that
"You're right." He said, "But it doesn't mean that I can't tell you funny stories."
He pulls up a chair as he begins to tell you stories from the mission. From the horrible dad jokes, and a moment when Price slipped on the ladder. In exchange, you tell him about your encounter with Ghost, which makes him laugh
It actually surprises you to hear Gaz telling you stories and all. You assume that he only does it to cheer you up, or that's just his way to destress. Either way, it's nice to have a company like him
He'd keep going if you didn't remind him of the time, and you have to force tell him to sleep, promising that you'll talk tomorrow again
The next day, you're surprised to find almost all of the members are in the kitchen. Chatting and eating the leftover beef with reheated rice
All of them, except for Soap, but it's because he hasn't wake up
You didn't want to admit it, but seeing the pan empty makes your pride swell
You join their talk as you sit on the table, and they immediately complain about you not making enough batches for breakfast in a humorous way. You complain back by saying you didn't get paid enough for this
And that leads them to protest about the food budget to Price
He just sighs
By the time Soap joins in, all the food is already gone. And he's pissed about it
"You gotta order pizza for today." Gaz jokes
"Fookin' cunt."
As the conversation flows, Price announces something so suddenly, that you doubt your hearing
"What did you say?"
"You'll be on the same mission as us next month. Pack up and be prepared."
Gaz whistles, "We won't be doing paperwork then?"
"She'll focus on being a medic, so she won't be doing your paperwork."
He groans
"That's… great news." You responded when they all stared at you, "When will we be leaving again?"
"Exactly one month from now." He explained before he sighed, "But don't be too happy yet, because it's not easy to be stationed in the red zone. I know you can handle it but still." He shook his head, "The bad news is, and you wouldn't like it when you hear it but, the person who requested your assistance… Is Graves."

Based on your tags, @actual-changeling, hopefully I got it right.
“You and me, what do you say?” Crowley bounces in his place to stop his whole body from shaking.
“Come with me,” the angel says stepping close, too close, “to Heaven, I'll run it, you can be my second in command. We can make a difference.”
It's like a slap across his face. Second in command. After what he said, after everything... “And how—” he chokes out the words as he tries to keep the tears at bay. “How do you think you can even do what he said?”
“What?”
“You appointing me to be an angel again? How do you think that will work?”
Aziraphale wriggles with his hands, looking down, smiling, his face flushing. Crowley feels sick. “Well, I assume that once role, there will be credentials given to me that I can use to present your case to the Almighty, make her realise her mistake.”
“Mistake,” Crowley echoed hoarsely.
“Of course! Crowley, you are good. You've never been a proper demon, ever since the beginning and your Fall... Well, I'm sure the Almighty must have assumed given that you kept Lucifer's company but She must have seen, all these years that you never really worked for them to win. If I can, if I appeal to Her, you can be—”
“Fixed?” Crowley hisses the word with a mixture of poison and pain, looking up, taking shallow breaths to keep the dammed tears from falling. He reaches down to the buttons of his collar and pulls them open, taking out the glamour along with them. The burns are old, older than humanity itself, they run from his neck down his collar, under his shirt down to his chest. And these are the mild ones. “Tell me, can you fix this too?”
“Crowley...” Aziraphale's eyes run up and down the scars but Crowley doesn't cover them. He usually does for the same reason he covered his eyes: to avoid invasive questions, but right now it seems like it was necessary to come clean about what they are. Both of them.
“I'm waiting,” he says, merciless. “What do you they would do to fix it? Wash them with holy water and expect this time I just come clean instead of dead?”
The angel flinches at his words but Crowley is not done. His chest burns with pain and not because of the old wounds.
“I expected—”
“You expected what? You accepted a post in Heaven and didn't even know the specifics of their biggest offer?”
“No, that's not—”
“You just jumped to the thing without thinking, didn't you?”
“I thought you would be pleased!” Aziraphale snaps. “All this time, all these years you have never been happy about being a demon or anything about your side. I thought you missed— I thought you would—”
“You thought I would,” Crowley repeated, mocking the angel's intonation. “You assumed I would. You took a decision for me, without telling me, without even stopping for a second to ask me if that's what I wanted. No, you just accepted it and thought I would happily go there to be your second in command as if I was some bloody—”
His voice breaks and he stops himself, looking away from the angel. “Tell me,” he starts again, slowly, “if I go back up there and they tell you they have to break every bone, burn every trace of skin anew, shatter whatever is left from my true form, all to make me what I used to be, would you let it happen?”
“Crowley...”
“Would. You. Let. It. Happen? ”
“You are taking this out proportion!” he snaps.
“Am I?” Crowley asks and takes a step forward, towering over the angel. “I spent days burning when I Fell. Days thinking of nothing but a pain I didn't even have the concept of. My legs were shattered and I couldn't get out until they threw a rope to help me out. I crawled out of that pit, on my belly like She intended. Blinded until I figured out how these eyes worked. And I was one of the lucky ones, some others couldn't even move for years. Tell me, angel, do you really think that was a mistake?”

Freakiest Thing Each Of My Selfships Is Into <3
I was just scrolling through the tag and remembered how much I fucking love hearing about other people's niche kinks so I decided to make a post about the weirdest side of my selfships :D
My platonic selfships are of course excluded and my nostalgia selfships are also excluded because they're weird enough without adding extra kinks to them. Also, most of these are focused on my f/os rather than my s/is because I'm like 90% ace but still interested in kink and also fictional sex with my f/os.
Anyways they're under the readmore because I don't tend to post n$fw on this blog so I don't expect everyone to have the tags blocked! Please dni if under 18, etc
Jester- she likes being free-use on occasion so we'll have nice big parties with her on a table and everyone is well-trained on the rules and her safewords and she gets dicked down proper and I tell her she's doing a great job
Tate- absolutely rampant mommy kink, which wouldn't be quite so weird if his mother didn't live next door :I
Himiko- feral kitten play, baby! Especially if we're showing off for the other LoV members, we go full kitty mode and draw lots of blood and tumble around together and have fun
Tomura- age play in all of the most extremes: diapers and bottles and gloves that curl his fingers into a fist so he can't use his quirk or his hands, poor baby
Toshi- we're like 80% vanilla but we have done a couple of me-as-student, him-as-teacher roleplays that get us both going partially because of how absolutely taboo it is for both of us
Zero- uhhhh, it's Rick Sanchez I don't know what the craziest could possibly be? we have a lot of public sex at those kinds of parties, or on planets where that's the norm. I like to control him while he's having sex with someone else, tell him exactly what to do while he pleases them. OH, we do consensual non-consent scenes and somnophilia scenes, that's probably the wildest stuff maybe?
Val- the extremely vore-adjacent experience of having sex in someone else's body: the intimacy of making love in their bloodstream, nestled against a single red blood cell
Grell- blood play that is not safe or sane, but very much consensual: we got a little carried away one time and I almost bled out afterwards but I was okay: she's vicious with a scalpel, what can I say? My beloved half of Jack the Ripper.
Cecil- our relationship is 95% platonic but he's had a few phases where he's worked up enough to use me: it's kind of a sex doll situation where I'm not very active and I keep to a smaller form and let him do whatever he wants
Tumblr- we're still in the experimentation phase! nothing too wild in this relationship: she has a bit of a daddy kink (and a praise kink) but that's about it.
Monokuma- exhibitionism, baby, I'm out here doing a solo show for the cameras until I get some sweet bear loving. Technosexuality, I suppose? I would like to make him overheat ^-^
Death- hmmm, just some body worship: I could eat her out for hours and I think I do, when she lets me. Cock warming if she's got one for the day.
Gertrude- not very exciting: lots of cliche artsy lesbian things like oils and massages, waxplay and foodplay, painting each other nude and overflowing the bath by accident when we're cleaning up
Dirk- plushophilia, dubious consent, and forced orgasms: control over the other person's orgasm is one of the ultimate powers in our relationship and it swings both ways in turn
Jonah- *chanting* desk sex, desk sex, desk sex... cockwarming and powerplay. he takes out his frustration over bad business deals on me and I'm very ready for it, but sometimes I put up a fight just so he can wear himself out a bit more getting me where he wants me
Which do you think is the wildest?? I think I'm too close to really choose. You should do this with your selfships also if you'd like to!! I really do like hearing about characters and people's niche kink preferences and I think selfship/kink crossovers are something I don't see enough of.

BMBO FM I need your help I'm trying my daily run and it's a struggle to get motivated today. I would love it if you could play Tag you're it. That song always makes me run faster.
I’m no longer accepting BMBO FM requests. I may bring this interactive back at a later date but for now this and several others that I got earlier will be my limit until my move is complete.
**************
“Let’s get some motivation to all those runners out there, try not to get lapped, but if you do, “Tag You’re it”, enjoy”
It took you hours to get out for your run today. You had a rave coming up and really needed to go though. After hours of pushing it off, you headed to your favorite running path. A few other runner were there running the long looped path. You saw a male and female couple, two college girls, a solo guy and a solo girl.
Running on the path, you were going to use this song as a sprint. You really wanted to do this workout as fast as you could.
You but your headphones in and luckily the song was already queued up. You set off.
You quickly caught up to the couple softly talking to each other as they jogged slowly together as you slipped passed them with ease.
“Honey we really need to clean up the house when we get home”
“Or we could…you know”
“Shhhh people will hear you”
You rounded a corner and into a wooded section you were catching the two girls just casually waking. Probably only college aged or freshly graduated. You quickly over took them.
“I can’t believe he wouldn’t call me back. It’s like he just wanted sex, no just to cum, he didn’t care about me.”
“Guys are just gross and selfish. Maybe you should try girls like me.”
You picked up your pace trying to get this lap in. You saw the single man stopping at some equipment in the park to get some training moves in. He was buff and you could loudly hear his podcast playing out. Explaining how to pick up girls and reminding him that men were superior.
You saw the other girl running in the distance but she turned the corner and you seemed to have lost her.
One lap done, one to go for this sprint.
You came across the mistress and her cute little pet.
“Walk on your leash like a good girl. Mistress will reward you later.” She gave her per’s head a pat and the one on her hands and knees yipped and yapped excitedly.
She rounded the corner again and there was the happy couple.
“I just want to have my cock pumping you full, I want to see you getting bigger and rounder.I’ll let everyone know you take my cock so well”
“God please fill me up, I’ll be a good breed slut. Fuck me full of your babies I want to show everyone how good your cock is”
“Of course you do. You want to grow my children and keep your tits large and filled with milk.”
You came upon the equipment again. The himbo was there listening to his podcast. He was laying on a bench meant for sit ups, stroking his cock according to the commanding podcast reminding him that he was just a silly boy, women were superior.
You were nearing the end of the course and the song. You had lapped all the runners twice. Except you missed one…the lone girl. You were almost there when she flew up your left side. You could have sworn you heard her say “tag you’re it” eerily like the announcer. Maybe she even winked at you.
You felt tingling. You just keep going forward as the shorts and top shrink down. Your body begins to get harder to keep in proper form as your breasts becoming the size of melons. Their bouncing is hypnotic as your try to finish. You ass swells as your pussy begins to drip down.
You finished your sprint but you couldn’t ignore the feeling any more. You fell to the grass and the tiny top let your much improved tits fall out. You began vigorously rubbing them, bouncing them around. Your mind not caring anyone walking by, in fact you hoped they would enjoy the show.
One of your hands slipped down into what was supposed to be a pair of running shorts but your new curves were too voluptuous that they were just lewd with your body spilling out. You were busy rubbing yourself to climax so all passersby could enjoy the show. You couldn’t stop the first time or the second. You kept coming over and over again. Until you passed out until some time later.
You sat up and looked around. Why were you at the park in your high heels and sluttiest bikini? You couldn’t think. Oh well, it probably wasn’t important. But since you were here, you might as well find some fun friends to play with. You wanted to share you’re body.

Enchanted: Update!
Hello!!
So I've cleaned up Enchanted a bit with the moodboard and proper tags! While it is for a special occasion and all, it's also the first part of a series I've been working on for a while!!!
For now, I'm calling it Loki (TV) - or, Loki (Taylor's Version), absolutely uncreative, but it's basically me listening to Taylor Swift and going "thats so. fucking Loki." and then writing up scenarios for it. This is ranging from murder mystery Evermore to angsty Folklore and helpless romantic Lover and literally every other single era you could think of lmao
I originally started writing the little snippets based off of songs for myself bc it was the best way to keep my brain active and practice writing but I'm willing to share it now with you guys!!
Enchanted will have a part 2 to finish the song, some do since I don't always have the energy to post up a near 5k work (Enchanted part 1 alone was 3.5k). Anyway, each piece will be titled in a similar manner- Loki (TV) - *Album*: *Song title* with a color coded moodboard and all
I put a hella lot of nights brainstorming this cuz it was originally just a funny "ahahaha Enchanted is such a Loki thing but like the 1 is soooo Loki post Infinity War fic" and well...here we go :D There will be ansgt, there will be fluff, and yes there'll be smut all varying in different tropes and AUs !!!
Anyway, for now, while I'm on vaca, all there is is Enchanted, but I promise once I'm fully back, there'll be more!!!
Thanks to everyone who reblogged and left a comment (eyes the 80 likes with no interaction thanks friends .) I've added the lot who've asked to the taglist and posted it with Enchanted Part 1 so I can keep everyone in one place!!!
Anyway, more on all this later, love you all loads <3

ao3 wrapped [writers edition] how about 10,11,29, or 30?
10. What work was the quickest to write?
It was either closure or the lack thereof, which I technically wrote 2 drafts of and posted over a weekend but I did have that idea kicking around since 2021, so from concept to post it was probably either with teeth we've come this far or I feel like I'm borrowing all my time, because I came up with the ideas for whumptober and finished them. All the others existed as idea bulletpoints or little jotted down paragraphs before Sept 1 but those two were completely contained.
11. What work took you the longest to write?
While the dark ocean duology did take me all summer after I'd initially thought it would take a couple weeks tops, the winner has to be the first chapter of omens and all kinds of signs which was at 60% done for 2 years. I honestly don't know that I would have finished it if I hadn't decided to post it serially, so yeah little plug for writing serially. It was really just to get back on the horse after having an off year last year.
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
I really like this bit where Greez is like 'wtf' in 'I feel like I'm borrowing all my time':
This all feels like an overwhelming, insurmountable task. Greez wishes he hadn’t been chosen for it. He knows how important it is, wants desperately to find the kid before he can be hurt, but it really feels beyond him. He misses the Mantis, misses the rest of the crew, even the little droid and the stowaway bogling. He misses feeling like he understands his place in the universe. His mind struggles to keep up with how long it’s been. A couple of hours? Days? Five years but wound in reverse? He knows it shouldn’t feel like five years, but it kind of does. It feels like the warmth and safety of home is something he lost long ago, or perhaps never had. Now that Cal’s missing from his proper place, it all feels like none of it ever actually happened. It both exists in his memory and doesn’t, like a distant dream. Greez shivers. All of this is very, very wrong. Cere is staring at the fire again, an inscrutable look on her face. Greez decides to fill the silence with: “I guess we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” Cere whirls on him abruptly. “Of course we have to hope they didn’t take him to Nur.” “I just mean that…” Greez swallows. It’s started raining harder, raising more steam and smoke from the fires. The smoke makes his eyes sting. Cere waits for an explanation, brow furrowed. “Don’t we have to avoid…I just mean…you shouldn’t meet yourself, right? That’s one of the rules of this sort of thing, isn’t it? At least, it was in the cheesy dramas my grandmother was always watching…” “Oh.” Cere turns back to the fire. “I hadn’t considered that.”
Apologies for the length of it but I like it both for the 1) 'it shouldn't feel like five years but it does' bit, just leaning into time travel being WEIRD. Also I think I slipped up a couple times responding to comments and referred to 'timelines' but as best I can come up with for fitting time travel into SW worldbuilding....there are no alternate timelines really. Because time isn't really...real. So Greez is right, once things have started changing, they change in the future as well so it all both does and doesn't exist at the same time...idk if I ever went further on the time travel concept it would be along these lines, rather than having distinct alternate timelines.
2) the very human moment of filling an awkward silence with the exact wrong thing. XD It's such a little thing but I ended up LOVING the "Greez decided to fill the silence with" dialogue tag. XD
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
I'm going to answer this one with a screenshot of my ideas list I found while cleaning it up this weekend:
Tumblr media
I don't want to sound like too much of a curmudgeon (though the ship has probably said on that one)*, but I can't stress enough how surprising it was that one of my biggest 'nope, would never write' became one of my favorite fics of the year. Now I feel like I can't said I'd never write something. Growth?
(*and just to stress, like...for me writing/reading, don't take this personally. I use the exclude tags but please don't take this as like a judgement, I just have never really liked them and got a bit grumpy about just how popular they were when I came back to reading Star Wars fic a couple years ago)

WIP Wednesday
Tagged by @scribbledquillz---thank you for the tag! I'm going to tag back @zenstrike, but no pressure at all (I know you're busy!) and anyone else who wants an excuse to show off what you're working on. Please tag me, I'd love to see it!
I have been elbow deep in my DA Big Bang fic all week and I think I'm technically not supposed to share any of it yet. So: here is an expansion of this Fenhawke ficlet. I am trying to turn it into a proper 5+1 format, but I am stuck fiddling with the +1 at the moment.
“Stop being so grumpy,” Hawke panted now, one arm slung over his shoulder, “It could have happened to anyone.”
Fenris clenched his jaw until he felt the muscle jump, shooting her a scathing look. Her dress was too red to see how bad the bleeding was. Still, he knew it must be bad; he’d felt the tacky blood seeping through the structured bodice when he’d picked her up. He was certain the wound had not improved while he hurried back to the manor.
“Oh,” Maria—no, Hawke, he would call her Hawke—said, chagrin coloring her tone, “I understand.”
“Do you?” Fenris said through his teeth. She hadn’t understood when they’d taken turns convincing her not to go to this party in the first place. He’d be surprised if she understood now, even after she’d ripped her stitches open dancing; she was stubborn like that.
They rounded the corner at a jog, the lantern beside her door coming into view at last. The walk was not long, but he felt as if he’d been walking for hours. It bothered him beyond words to know that his speed might determine how well she came out of this absurd situation.
“Yes,” she said, and Fenris kicked the door twice instead of knocking.
“It’s alright,” she said, hissing between her teeth when he kicked the door again and jostled her, “I can have the dress cleaned. It’ll be good as new.”
Fenris, who’d been listening for footsteps on the other side of the door, stared down at her incredulously. Hawke blinked up at him, her eyes guileless.
“But,” she said, “It’s okay to cry. I won’t tell anyone. It is a really, really good dress.”
He would gladly throw it in the fire if it would keep her from doing something this foolish again. Fenris wisely chose to ignore her and kicked the door again just as it opened, connecting with Anders’ shin instead of wood.
“Ow! Watch it,” the mage said, scowling, but immediately refocused his attention on Hawke.
“What is it?” he said, “Bring her in, quickly.”
“Anders!” Hawke said, but there was an awful thickness to her voice that belied the cheer in it, “You know, I was thinking this thing wasn’t quite red enough, so I thought I ought to add a bit more dye. You know—ah!—for…aesthetic’s sake.”
Fenris carried her up the stairs, abruptly grateful for the amount of time that he spent hauling a greatsword around and wielding it in combat. Such things had given him arms strong enough to carry her home, had allowed him to ensure she was not stranded amongst strangers in her moment of weakness. She had not even asked him to do this; had only told him to go fetch Anders for her. What might have become of her, wounded or incapacitated in that den of wolves?
He lay her down on her bed again now, careful not to drop her too suddenly. She grimaced anyway, then propped herself on one elbow.
“Take it off, please; cut the strings if you must, but leave the thing intact. It did cost a fortune.”

Repressed Love: A DiaLuci Love Story
Chapter 43
Tag list: @astroseuss @zarakem @brielle043 @missloserqueen
Tumblr media
A knock came to the princess's door.
She ignored it; the woman couldn't handle a single new bad thing today.
Diavolo was so very close to her breaking point and felt like even the smallest thing could destroy her.
Despite her silence, Barbatos opened the door and carried the tray of tea to her desk.
Neither said a word as the man set the tray down and poured her a cup of tea.
Despite the stress she was under, the princess sighed and took a sip of the butler's tea.
The butler gave a soft smile and stroked her hair.
"Just breathe, my lady. You need to relax for now."
"Why is all of this happening?" She whispered. "I thought...surely things will get better, that we can all be happy yet things just keep spiraling out of my control."
"You cannot control everything in life, my lady; that seems to be a lesson you keep needing to relearn."
"Because if I cannot control something, it makes me feel helpless," She admitted. "Even more so when it affects those I love..."
"That's because you love with all of your heart." Barbatos explained. "You feel others' pain as your own."
The woman stared down into her tea, watching her reflection move with the liquid.
"Barbatos...what am I supposed to do?" She laid a hand against her belly.
"You follow the same advice you'd give others; be kind to yourself." He insisted. "Your fight Lucifer...I believe it was about more than just his choice, was it not?"
Diavolo sighed. Of course Barb knew; her brother-figure seems to know everything after all.
"I'm suppose to protect my child," She spoke softly. "Instead, I let myself get sick...almost lost us both our lives...and now my child is suffering because of me and will only suffer more when they are born..."
"And what was it you told Lucifer when he was in the same position?"
"What..." The woman's eyes went wide.
That's right. Back when Lucifer was pregnant with Audriana, he too had these same worries.
Her fiancé was already feeling heavy guilt over all of the issues he gave his son, but then when his belly grew one final time and the couple realized they wouldn't have enough time to work through his issues and stop their daughter from inheriting his pain and shame.
Lucifer was heart broken. He never wanted to hurt another child like he had hurt Satan and yet...life had other plans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That was back before Audriana was born, back before they knew she was a girl and before Lucifer knew Diavolo was truly a woman.
There was a lot unknown back then...and somehow, the past both seems simpler and just as complicated as the present.
The woman laughed without humor and covered her face with her hand.
"And I blamed his 'angelic inclinations'..." She shook her head. "I am the literal princess of demons, heir to the Abyssal throne, and descendant of the Devil themself...and yet I act the very same as him and his 'angelic inclinations'."
Hindsight is truly a bitch sometimes, isn't it?
The woman sighed.
"Oh devil...I am hippocrite, aren't I?"
"That depends," The butler spoke honestly. "What is it that you will do with your own advice?"
The princess pressed her hands to the desk and rose to her feet.
"I need to go talk to Lucifer." She turned to the butler. "Do you know where he is?"
Barbatos smiled.
"Where is Lucifer usually when he's down and unable to do work?"
The woman gave a sad smile in return.
"Right..."
And so the woman left for the spare ballroom.
It was refurbished for Cerberus. The dog has a habit of very easily breaking furniture so Barbatos preferred the hellhound to not have free reign of the castle.
Instead, the dog mainly stuck to the spare ballroom, which had plenty of room for the big dog to run and enjoy himself. All former decorations have been taken out in favor of things the big pooch needed; a big (and expensive since both pet parents wanted to spoil him) pet bed, pet toys, even an a proper area to clean to the boy up (and immediately turn the big ol' hellhound into a whiny baby 🥰).
When the woman stepped inside, she discovered her fiancé was doing just that.
Cerby was in the big pet bathtub all soaped up and patting a paw against Lucifer's shoulder and whining to be let out while the pride demon made a poor attempt at staring the dog down in frustration, especially with that small smile on his face.
Like always, Cerby was a great comfort to his master.
Dia gave a sad smile at the scene before approaching, causing the dog head facing her to bark in her direction.
Lucifer turned towards her, just for the hellhound to chance it and jump out of the tub and upon landing, start sliding on his butt to the other side of the room before shaking, getting some soap and water on the couple in the process.
"...Sorry." Dia smiled nervously at her fiancé.
"It's fine, love." He sighed but eyed the pup, showing at least some humor with his eyes.
The princess approached him and lightly brushed the suds off his shoulder just as he did the same with the bubbles in her hair.
"My Light...can we speak for minute?"
"Always." The man laid a gloved hand on her cheek, staring into those beautiful golden eyes he loved so much, which shown equal parts pain and hope.
Dia put her hand over his.
"You did the right the thing." She spoke softly. "You did the right thing and I'm sorry I--"
"You don't need to apologize--"
"Yes, I do." She insisted. "That reaction...it wasn't truly because of the decision you made; it was because...because I'm afraid and I feel helpless and I hate feeling helpless..."
Her fiancé leaned in and placed his forehead to hers.
"I know, love, I know. We'll make it through this though." He placed both hands down on her belly. "We'll all make it through this."
The tearful woman threw her arms around the demon, just for him to wrap his arms around her in kind.
The two held each other tightly for a long while before pulling back
And Lucifer was nudged (more like smacked lol) in the back of the head, causing his lips to crash into Dia's.
The man quickly broke the accidental kiss and looked over his shoulder.
There sat Cerby, all three heads presenting differently. One pretended that the designs on the wall were oh so fascinating, another stared down at the toy on the floor, and the other stared at the couple with this big doofy smile.
The Avatar of Pride was about to scold the dog, but was stopped by Diavolo's sudden belly laugh, bigger and louder than he's heard from the woman in a while
And so he turned back to her and joined her, chuckling as well and staring at his fiancée in a way that purely expressed just how hopelessly in love he was with her.
No matter how bads things got, the couple and their children would be okay.
They just had to stay strong and believe in themselves.

a temporary main post
Hi there.
Firstly, In case you ever wondered, you can call me Ru. Secondly, while I promised myself to draw more, I did not expected to be this consistent with it, or with tumblr.
So, Thank you very much for still supporting me 3 month might not be much, but it's a lot for me!
Now, for more important matters:
You're free to use my art for anything(save, pfp, ???whatever else) that's not commercial. How would you even make money out of it, you silly
But don't edit it, please. Or pray that I won't see it.
I will also kindly ask you not to repost it on tumblr... If you even do that. If you want to repost it somewhere else, let me know — maybe I'll give my permission.
.
Most of the textual posts were edited and kept privately, while some were deleted (out of ignorance). All of them were reblogged to my side blog to keep the main for my art.
side blog: @glmsh-ver
It's not properly organized or tagged, which will come in time. I created it for the sole purpose to keep THIS ONE clean.
Worry not, this post will be deleted when its time will come, too.
most of my art is easily found under "#Gil studies" tag. I believe at the moment no one but me(hehe) uses that tag for art, which is rather convenient.
Which is also useful because of the fact that I plan on drawing stuff outside of Gil... But not right now.
Future... plans?? :
I do plan on changing the theme/design of the blog to a proper one, as well as editing tags & making a proper main post. Maybe there's more tumblr stuff, but I haven't discovered that yet. Will welcome any ideas.
I plan on avoiding tumblr for a month or so, as I'm currently doing with all of my social media. So yeah, I'll post proper art in may. Till then, I hope you miss me
.
Since I already got my first ask, I do welcome them!! But I also hope that any non-art or non-Gil related stuff might be asked on my side blog. Ty!
In Ask, you can give me any suggestions/ideas/requests/art templates/challenges/prompt lists for art with Gil. Don't be shy, share them with me. I'm quite likely to draw them in time.
you can also write suggestions under this post. if you're dying to talk to me that is
The art suggestions are important because I do plan on drawing Gil every day in the future. At the moment, I believe my skills are lacking to make even proper sketches within a day... Which is not said out of insecurity, believe me. I just draw slowly
Lastly, I plan on having proper twitter account. If there're any other place you're interested in seeing me (who knows, maybe I'm just charming) then just let me know.
The post is open for future editing and update as the time will come. For now, that's it.
Thank you. And see you soon!

Word Search Tag Game
Tagged by @fadedsweater, thank you! 💕
Tagging @ir0n-angel, @mogwaei, @mordinette, @shretl and @lilbittymonster. No pressure.
Find the word and post a snippet containing it. Can be from published works or WIP's, or both! Then tag some folks to keep it going with new words.
Your words are: present, happy, lift, watch, ache
My own below the cut. All of these are published works, links in the titles.
From More Than Mere Stone, the word soft:
She found her rhythm again and once more fell into the motions of sliding the whetstone against the blade. The sound of it was soothing, bleeding the tension out of her shoulders and back. There was a reason she'd always done this part herself, and not just because no one else would do it for her. Care of your weapon is care of yourself, her hahren told her once. She'd never forgotten, even if it had taken her a long time to understand what he meant.
She let the memories of long afternoons in the shaded gardens of her family home wash over her. Afternoons where they'd debated, sparred or just sat to appreciate the quiet drone of bees in the flowerbeds. She missed him. She wondered what he would think if he could see her now, Herald of a religion she viewed with utmost distaste. Forced to fix all the world's problems while few knew her other than her name. She wondered if he would be proud of her.
Another pass down the blade, another soft hiss of stone on steel. Another slight catch on the edge of the nick. And then...
...the whetstone broke in half in her hand.
---
From Trust In the Time of Vampires, the word bare:
He’d locked the office door, so she didn’t hesitate to strip off her Merlotte’s tee and the skimpy shorts that were her waitress uniform right then and there. She dropped her bra too, since the dress would leave it showing. In a flash, Eric was behind her, his cool fingers tracing the length of her neck and bare shoulder. His free arm was around her waist, holding her against him. Scorching hot desire poured down her spine through the bond and she smiled to herself. There were times she thought maybe he made her go through this routine for the simple pleasure of getting her out of whatever prim and proper outfit he’d picked later.
“Don’t mess up my concentration if you want me to be useful to you.”
---
From What a Wicked Game to Play, the word sun:
She held out her hand, glowing green in the deepening gloom as the sun disappeared behind the mountains. “You want it back?”
“If you know so much, then you know I cannot take it yet.”
“It was worth asking.”
His coldness dropped away, or perhaps was compartmentalized better. He gave her an assessing look now. “Do you mean it, that you would help me? Why?”
“Because Thedas was supposed to belong to the elves. And it did, for a really long time until humans came along and mucked it up. And you had to make a choice that turned out terrible and you want to fix it.”
“You are human,” he pointed out.
“Yeah, and? Doesn't make me an idiot.” She flapped her arms and huffed. “Okay, that might be pushing it. I'm definitely an idiot."
---
From Maker Damned Fools, the word place:
“You need to get out of those clothes,” he said finally when her face was clean. She huffed through her nose and he seemed to realize what he'd said. “All right, I could have put that better. I need to see if you're injured,” he rephrased. “You know we can't take any chances down here.”
She stripped off her armor and drenched shirt, leaving her shivering in her equally as soiled breastband. Not that there was any chance she was going to just remove it in front of him. She was reckless, but not idiotic. This was not the time or place.
He moved around her, looking over every inch with clinical dispassion. He drew her arms out from her sides, running calloused fingertips over her skin when he couldn't see in the gloom. It was impersonal, but also unbelievably intimate and she closed her eyes, trying to stay silent. When he was satisfied that she wasn't tainted – or wounded for that matter – he shrugged out of his duster and draped it around her shoulders, ignoring her jolt of shock.
“Not how I wanted to get you out of your clothes,” she said, finally breaking her silence as the horror began to recede.
---
From Into the Current, the word deserve:
“Why you care, Iron Bull?” she asked again.
His head tilted towards her, giving her his full attention. This close, and no longer distracted by a bleeding series of wounds, she could take in more details on his face. His nose was sloped strangely where it met his mouth. His lips were full and mobile, able to speak volumes without saying a word if he let them. His remaining eye was a clear green, like an agate. What stubble she could see on his long jaw and scalp was dark, but held hints of silver and gray. His horns jutted out from his head smoothly, although she could see the irregular ridge where skin ended and bone began. His ears were pointed like an elf's, but looked like they'd been docked so there were no vulnerable fleshy edges. Altogether he was rather beautiful, a summation of parts that shouldn't work together, but did. She wondered if all of his people looked this way.
“Everyone deserves to be at peace,” he said softly, drawing her focus back to his gaze. His voice rumbled out of his chest and soothed something deep inside her that she hadn't even been aware was chafing.
“I tell you sometime. Not today.”
His lips quirked upwards. “All right, Chestnut. Wash your hair, we leave in the morning.”
“Where we go?”
“Orlais.”
(This one was tough to find, apparently I don't use this word much)

in case you're just here for the good stuff, i'll be tagging my personal ramblings as #whmpersonal so you can avoid em BUT this is tangentially related to the game project i'm working on, so stick around i guess? tl;dr: i'll probably make a more coherent post where I ask ppl for help (especially artists). also, i'll be more attentive and answer your asks faster, hopefully. : )
anyway, after a bit of a "review" of my creative process (and i guess my uhh way of living in general?) i've noticed that it's a huge clusterfuck. and that it has been since i was a kid. without some external pressure or an imposed structure (like deadlines, parents or strongly worded emails) i just sort of relied on random surges of productivity to carry me through life. on one hand, it's kinda fun: most of the time i'm not doing anything valuable and then all of a sudden i condense weeks worth of work into several sleepless days during which i feel like An Immortal Unstoppable God. lighting bolts shoot from my fingertips, my eyes glow in the dark, and my caffeine-to-blood volume ratio is hovering around 1.
unfortunately, it's not really sustainable. the "not doing anything valuable" stage that takes up most of my time is not me just chilling. it's me freaking the fuck out about not doing anything despite wanting to and finding myself just. not able to. not to mention that some things just need minor, but constant maintenance - at best i'd just forget about them and face the consequences later on. at worst i'd be acutely aware of them while procrastinating, clueless as to what's wrong with me.
couple that with a couple other unhealthy habits, a microscopic attention span and wow, i fit like all the criteria for adhd. i gotta admit i was super sceptical at first when doing any research, since, well. how the fuck am i even supposed to gain any unbiased insight into this. anyway, i spent a stupid amount of money on an official diagnosis (seriously why is this not covered by insurance gsygx), it took a million meetings and tests and i get a piece of paper that says i have add and deserve some medication.
this has also made me realize that i'm spread out super thin when it comes to projects. i love every single one of them, but im going to have to be a bit more realistic in terms of what can remain in "when it's done" limbo and what needs a bit of a push. the whump game is unique in that it's not just me who wants this to eventually get released. so! what this means is that it needs a proper, project structure. not a .txt on my desktop where i keep a backlog of missing features. but must important of all, it needs ~*people*~. this is the first time i took a step back and estimated how much time everything would take me and yeahhhh i was being very optimistic when i said "playable build in 2023" lol. i've been hesitant to ask for help bc 1. i'm stubborn : ) 2. im bad at coordinating stuff 3. i can't pay ppl - like seriously, there is one person making a model for me (if you're reading this sorry i didn't ask if you want a tag but this is just a personal post where i keep yapping) and it's looking so clean and professional,,, you gotta sell this as an asset.
HOWEVER im getting past the mentality of "i gotta do as much as i can by myself". and also taking meds so that im able to focus on tasks (both gamedev-related and others) and actually pay attention to what im doing. which is great news for development! and answering asks! ill be making a dev post where i tag all the ppl and will also ask for help.
that's it. im on a train rn and bored out of my mind so this is why this post exists, sorry. anyway check out this screenshot of a moment in clone high that i relate to deeply.

Captain Steve, Pirate AU (Steddie)
Reposted because I had A LOT more to say.
Don't get me wrong, I love BAMF pirate king/captain Eddie and poor defenseless Steve.
But can I bring to you today the idea of pirate captain Steve Harrington 'King Steve' and his rag tag group of brigands?
THIS IS LONG, AND I'M NOT SORRY
Steve's parents no longer enjoyed a life by the sea and their "beloved" son is more than capable of running the day to day of the plantation on his own by now. So they leave back to... Wherever it is they came from, it's not important because they're gone and Steve is free.
There is no one to stop him from using his weighty inheritance to build himself a lovely seafaring vessel. One he's dreamed about since he was a boy and heard the first siren call of the sea.
His advisors beg him to rethink his decision. He knows nothing of sailing or the true realities of being out on open water. They don't even know he intends to use the ship for pirating... But Steve's mind is made up.
And while he may know very little of sailing, he knows the perfect crew to take a long to help him learn the ropes.
It wasn't just his dream he was fulfilling.
Living on remote islands in the Caribbean leaves much to be desired in ways of socialization.
There were the hoity toity types his parents wanted him to rub shoulders with. But they were dull and superficial, and most couldn't see Steve past the Harrington name.
While he loved and trusted Tommy enough to stay behind to take care of the business in his steed, he couldn't venture to have ever called them friends.
That title belonged to an unlikely array of people from the town proper that he'd grown to consider his family.
Dear Nancy, a friend since childhood, an almost betrothed, was the gateway to them all.
She and her brother were as rebellious against their birthright as Steve. At a point, the boy was still young enough for no one to question when he hung around the "rif-raf".
All of them coming together was just a natural progression over the years from there. Steve followed after Nancy one day to see the group they both kept going on about.
The tailor and shop-keeps sons. The daughters of the captain of the guard, a tanner and a local drunk. Both children, a son and a daughter, of a local banker.
He was welcomed with open arms by a group of children (and a couple of ones his own age) and never looked back.
It caused quite a stir around the upper-crust the first time Steve was seen leaving the jungle with the others, dirty and clothes torn. His parent's banned him from ever going near any of them again, but they were never around enough to actually check.
But they're gone for good.
The rest of them are grown and ready. They've spent years learning all they can by the docks, scrounging up what books they could on the subject of sailing.
As the final touches were put on the affectionately named Bad Hair Day, a crew was called to arms.
Captain Harrington had a difficult time choosing a first mate. So he chose two.
The ever reliable Robin, of course. He couldn't imagine doing this without her by his side. She mostly took over the role as bosun, her voice being the only one loud enough to carry all the way across the deck.
But there was also Will, the most steady and sound of the bunch. He was quiet, but it seemed to bring more authority to him than Robin and Steve could ever muster... even combined.
Dustin was an obvious choice for navigator. He was whip smart and absurdly clever and a master of the charts. If there was anyone Steve wanted to be forced to spend hours in close planning-proximity with, it was Dustin.
Maxine and Nancy gravitated towards taking care of the weaponry. They run drills on clear days, showing the rest of the crew how to properly throw knifes or clean their guns.
Lucas and Erica team up and spend their time in the crows nest as their barrelman (and woman), being the second most knowledgeable on the charts under Dustin. Lucas even had an additional proficiency for star charts, and Erica knew all of the stories behind the constellations.
Mike and El took eagerly to bosun mates, being the lightest and quickest up the masts.
Johnathan was just happy to be there, filling in the gaps where he was needed.
They were... Well, they're terrible pirates. Still a bunch of children playing pretend out on the open sea, really. They had the practical knowledge, but none of them had the practice.
But their chaos and wildness works out in their favor most of the time. They gain a reputation for being a touch unhinged, led by their King Steve, and no one can tell if it's all an act or not.
They raid frequently, always with the intention of making a profit and avoiding violence.
But it's always something.
An overeager crewmate taking a shot at King Steve. As long as it doesn't actually hit him, he isn't ever too bothered. Too bad for that guy, though. Steve's crew are all feral enough to start shooting back without hesitation. Gods help anyone who takes a shot at one of his kids, though.
There were several seamen out there with missing fingers after trying to take grabs at any of the girls. Most of them were curtesy of Max. Though King Steve doled out plenty himself.
One time they didn't board fast enough when Robin wanted to go up first and fell off the ladder, knocking down everyone under her in the process. It gave the captain a chance to throw the manifest overboard. They walked away with only the contents of the galley, and the first few boxes that were below deck. Robin was not allowed up ladders first anymore.
Someone (they suspect El) smuggles a cat on board after they make port for supplies. It wouldn't have been an issue, would have been a benefit even, since they were getting a rat problem below decks. But the cat had fleas. So everyone on board also got fleas. They're too busy dealing with being itchy to pursue any passing ships for over a week. Thankfully Dustin and Nancy eventually come up with some sort of noxious concoction that kills all the fleas on board. Turns everyone orange for a day, though.
There are plenty of successes, of course. They do work well as a team after all. They just really don't quite know what they're doing yet.
They don't make much in the way of money or loot for the first few months, but they're all having too much fun being free to care.
This was the life they had dreamed up together as they escaped into the jungles to hide from the lives their home had offered them. Steve built this for them, just as much as himself. They could never turn a profit, have to turn into a passenger vessel, crash and burn... doesn't matter to him. He just wants to be on the water with his family.
He never wants to go back.
*
It's been a few months at sea when they come across a rowboat with a single sun-singed inhabitant.
They've just left the closest port, within the last day or so... so they assumed he followed them from there. But he was woefully unprepared. He didn't bring water or proper sun protection, but had a stuffed bag and a disproportionate amount of food.
They know for sure he was rowing towards them when the Sinclair's noticed him. They'd called down to Steve who'd called for immediate action on turning the ship around. Still, it was a whole ship and it took awhile for them to get to the little boat.
Poor man was mostly just floating by the time they got there, slumped over in his seat and waving blearily from below.
Nancy was livid with Steve's lack of caution on immediately bringing the man on board.
"Look at him, Nance. You think a man stupid enough to follow us like this is a threat?"
There was no time to question him as Johnathon and Argyle practically had to carry him up the ladder. He immediately passed out on the deck from dehydration and exhaustion.
Nancy took pity on him then.
Steve was rubbing his decision in Nancy's face before they even had him nursed back to full health.
He had been quick to tell them that his name was Eddie, and he wanted to join their crew. He'd been hearing stories about The King and the crew of Bad Hair Day for months and had been just waiting for them to pass through.
Unfortunately, he'd missed his chance to meet them at the port. He'd been hungover, of course, but knew this was his destiny. He had to make chase.
They allowed him to watch from the sidelines as he recovered, and he watched the daily goings on with rapt attention. Where he found a lute was anyone's guess. But it was nice to have some entertainment for once.
No threat to be found.
But it was another mouth to fill, and they were still just beginners themselves. Could they really take on another crew member that was more green than they were?
The crew meeting a week later to decide his fate devolved quickly. Nancy was pretty much the only dissenting voice, the only one applying reason to the situation.
But the kids loved Eddie. Dustin and Will in particular were pulling out some serious puppy-dog eyes as Nancy repeated "no" over and over again. Even Robin, usually a hard sell, was particularly smitten with the curly-headed man.
It was Steve's choice in the end. Unfortunately for Nancy, King Steve had already been lured in by the siren-charms of the bard.
Where Steve went, Eddie followed.
When they first pulled him on board, Steve had agreed that since it was his choice, he would be the stranger's personal watch-dog on the ship. If only to get Nancy to leave him alone. It meant that they spent a significant amount of time together.
He'd been set up a cot in Steve's cabin (it was a particular 'fuck you' from Nancy) Once he was conscious enough to do so, he bombarded Steve with questions.
Something about the stinky, crispy, ill man on the other side of the room brought his guard so far down, he practically gave his entire life story on the first night. Eddie listened carefully, and Steve almost thought he'd fallen asleep when he started lauding how 'bad-ass' that was, choosing his own destiny like that.
It was pointed like, 'look at us', but Steve knew he wasn't wrong. It was stupidly endearing. They spent the entire night, and the rest of the ones after it talking. Eddie never talked about his past, though.
In the days following, Steve got to watch first hand as Eddie endeared himself to the crew. He had an astounding sense of humor that seemed like it was almost personally curated to each person, while still being entirely his own.
He was a quick learner, too.
It only took him a few days to almost entirely memorize every part of the ship, and how they each worked with each other.
He gave Mike and El a run for their money as he chased them up the masts. Dustin and Lucas each lauded his natural sense of direction. He became the first person Argyle allowed into the galley, citing having spent some time in kitchens before. Erica even let him join her in retelling the story of Orion at the end of a long day.
They didn't need to vote in the end as everyone pleaded their cases as to why Eddie should join the crew of Bad Hair Day.
So he did, and they were better for it.
He kept spirits high, a song always ready on his lips. He was an endless fountain of stories, and Steve was never sure if he was making them up as he went or not. Story time became a nightly event.
Their raids started going well, too.
Eddie was good at a lot of things, learning more every day, but he had a particular knack for being a tactician. He knew which ships were good pickings for what days, and how best to approach them in the first place. Everyone on board was given a specific role for each attack.
They walked away with less injuries (on both sides) and more loot.
Steve loved Eddie's company. Every moment where their attention wasn't needed elsewhere was spent together. Eddie's cot never left Steve's cabin, though it did eventually get shoved into one of the storage spaces instead.
Things were going better, but pirating was not a perfect science and something had to go wrong eventually. As far as it went though, a year without a disaster had to be some kind of record.
No one had been expecting a hidden compartment full of weapons under the deck of the Spanish vessel they raided. They were working on corralling the crew to tie them up when the maelstrom started.
It took them too long to react and resulted in a retreat rather than a victory, but everyone came away unscathed. They thought so at least. King Steve had a special skill of his own, after all. He had long ago perfected the art of stuffing every single pain (emotional and physical) deep inside himself if need be.
He just didn't want anyone to panic until they were safely back on Bad Hair Day. His crew was more important than the shot he'd taken to the gut during the first volley.
Eddie, of course, noticed when Steve couldn't get up from his seat when they got back to the ship. He had been planning on being the last up, like always... but he just couldn't move.
He didn't remember much past Eddie's panicked face coming close to his, and then some yelling.
He finally came to several days later. It was dark outside and he had a mouthful of ratty brown hair. There was no question who had crawled into bed with him. If Steve had been able to, he would have pulled the man closer.
He'd been in and out of consciousness for days, slipping quietly between wakefulness and dreaming. But Eddie was always at his bedside, and the first thing in his minds-eye. He dreamed vividly of his whole crew, his family. But it was always Eddie.
Steve wouldn't say he'd been pining, though Robin and Nancy would insist that he was. But he was tired of waiting. He'd almost died without the chance to tell Eddie everything.
He couldn't raise his cracked voice over a whisper as he called out Eddie's name. Thankfully, he was a light sleeper, jumping quickly to action. He rolled out of bed with an apology, and said he was getting the others.
Steve was still too weak to call him back.
He knew Nancy and somehow Johnathon noticed the way his eyes were tracking Eddie around the room as everyone swarmed the cabin. They tried to corral everyone, but Steve still had to suffer through an hour of everyone fussing over him before he and Eddie were alone again.
He tried to tell him as he worked on cleaning Steve up. He had just enough energy to let himself be sponged down, and his bandages changed. Eddie even let him clean his teeth, but he wouldn't let him talk.
Eddie sure had a lot to say, though, about "stupid heroics" "you could have died" and "how dare you"-s
He even retreated back to his cot when he was done. Steve could stand for the rest, but that wasn't going to work for him.
But the damn man was stubborn when he wanted to be, and wasn't responding as Steve tried to get his attention. It was not how he wanted the moment to go, but he had one last hail Mary.
He just bit the proverbial bullet and said it.
"Eddie, I'm sorry I almost died. And I'm sorry I haven't told you sooner, but I love you, so please get back over here because I do not want to waste any more fucking time"
He was reminded of their first time alone in this room together as the silence lingered. Maybe Eddie had fallen asleep and Steve had wasted his breath. Maybe it wasn't what he wanted to hear after all.
-then Eddie fell out of the cot in his scramble to get to Steve.
They couldn't do much more that night than carefully hold each other, but they made sure to never waste their time together again.
It took a few years, but King Steve and his crew became one of the most well known set of pirates there were. It was a dream. Their dream, each of them.
He'd tried explaining this dream to his parents one of the few times he went into check on the business. Mostly, they were there so that the kids could see their families, but he usually checked in on his own property at the same time. He wasn't expecting them to be there when he showed up, and wasn't surprised when he was immediately banished from the property.
He was told he had no family anymore and to not return. That was fine, he was making a name for himself and they were wrong. He defiantly had a family. He didn't even need anyone to tell him as much.
He didn't worry so much after that day.
*
Everyone trusted Eddie with their life, especially Steve. But there was one thing that always rubbed them all as weird. Every so often when they made port, Eddie would manage to slip off on his own. He wouldn't find his way back until morning, usually still drunk, looking like he'd swallowed sunshine. He refused to answer any questions on the subject, and managed to shake them off his trail every time they tried to follow.
But Steve trusted him. Especially after a particularly weak moment when he'd confronted Eddie thinking he was sneaking off to brothels. His fear's had been thoroughly and astutely assuaged then, after several hours, and he knew Eddie would tell them when he was ready.
In the end it wasn't a decision of his own making.
Eddie was with their crew for three years when they boarded the Coffin Maker. Eddie was up first as their showman, putting on a performance to introduce the rest of the crew. Will was the one that pointed out that some of the crew were looking at Eddie weird.
His side still twinged from time to time, and there was no way that he was letting Eddie get hurt. He was ready to rush over to his Eddie when the captain of the Coffin Maker's crew spoke up.
"Ed?"
That drew him and everyone on deck up short, weapons lowering in confusion as the fluffy haired captain kept going.
"Eddie Munson, I'd know you anywhere you dog. Thought you took over The Revenge when your Uncle retired. What are you doing here?"
It was the first time any of them had seen Eddie speechless. The idea that this was still a raid dissipated as the stranger walked up to him and greeted him with a warm handshake, shaking him until his stupor was gone.
"Gareth. No- Wayne sold the ship and I was landlocked with him for awhile. I've got a new crew now"
He stepped to the side and indicated to Steve and the others with a sweeping gesture. Gareth finally noticed the tension and took a step back.
That was when Nancy broke. Loud peals of laughter rang out over the entire ship, startling several of even her won crew.
"You're Edmund Munson, you were first-mate to Wayne Munson of Chrissy's Revenge. I should have known" she gasped and pointed as each member of their crew slowly came to the same realization. She nearly choked when she looked over at Steve's shocked face.
Everyone knew of Captain Wayne Munson. He's what people described as a gentle pirate. Master of tact, refusing to come to violence unless absolutely necessary. Most of what he pillaged ended up in the hands of those who needed it, rather than his own pockets. His first mate had been wild, and untamed waif with a penchant for theatrics. No one was very sure where he'd come from.
Then they had just disappeared.
"I was practically a kid" Eddie had tried to deafened himself, looking to Steve, face as red as the day they pulled him out of the sea. It just made Nancy laugh harder.
Gareth looked uncomfortable as Eddie visibly debated throwing himself overboard. Someone produced a bottle of rum and pressed it into his hands.
That broke the rest of the tension and the two crews called a truce of sorts over the odd introduction and started mingling.
Dinner was a joint effort that night as the two crews shared in the woes and joys of pirating. Gareth, and a few others who greeted Eddie in a less obvious fashion, smartly kept his mouth shut about their time on Chrissy's Revenge.
Steve was quietly livid, though he did see the humor everyone else did. But he didn't like being lied to.
He eventually let Eddie pull him aside when they got back to Bad Hair Day, and listened as he explained that he'd planned on being honest from the start, but he'd heard Steve and Nancy arguing about how he was a threat. He kept putting off telling the truth until it was far too late to admit anything.
He apologized wholeheartedly, and finally told Steve where he went when they made port.
They kept their travels very well planned. Enough so that he was always able to get word to his uncle a whole port ahead so that they could see each other when he was close enough.
Steve asked if he could meet him the next time. It was the closest Eddie was getting to forgiveness for now.
It only took two days of apologizes to Steve and the others before all was forgiven, though it was in no way forgotten. He took the hazing in stride.
It was another year before Steve got to meet Wayne. The man wasn't what he'd been expecting, but he obviously fiercely loved his nephew. He'd settled down with a nice lady, and they had opened a bar together. He wished the best for Steve and Eddie. Said they were much better suited to the life than he ever was.
They made it in time to be at his bedside a few years later.
He was still mostly kicking around by the time they got there and the decision to take an indefinite shore leave was unanimous. Turns out the bar was in rough shape, and in desperate need of some attention.
Steve's crew was more than willing to help out.
They fit into rolls here as easily as they had on the ship, and with just as much of a learning curve. But it was a nice reprieve.
Eddie got to hold Wayne's hand as he slipped away.
Steve had never bought into the idea that someone looked like they were sleeping once they'd passed, but Captain Munson looked quiet and peaceful as Eddie wept.
They only stayed for two weeks after Wayne's small funeral. There were still a few things left to be put right, and Eddie didn't seem ready to say goodbye yet. Everyone was respectful of the fact, but eagerly agreed when the idea of shipping back out again came up.
Wayne's Lady slipped Eddie the deed to the bar as they went to the docks, saying she was happy to take care of it until he decided to sell... or come back if that was his prerogative.
They didn't touch it for a very long time. But being on the sea was hard on the body, and eventually wears down on the mind.
They weren't the only ones slowing down, either.
All the "big kids" were getting up there. Only a little over 43 wasn't that old in the grand scheme of things, but they were tired.
The kids were still wild things, though. The decision to leave Bad Hair Day in their capable hands (under the direction of Captain Will) wasn't difficult, though saying goodbye was. It took days for Steve to stop crying after the ship disappeared over the horizon without them.
The kids still came back often. Truthfully, maybe too often to be good business. Steve wasn't going to complain, though.
There were even a few times where each of them went back out for a stint or two.
It was everything and so much more than Steve could have ever wanted from any of them. They'd plotted and planned this life in their secret fort in the jungles of what was once their home. But now he knew freedom, it wasn't just a dream. He knew love, he had a family. He had Eddie.
He didn't go down in history as another little boy with all the advantages in the world handed to him on a platter.
He went down in history as King Steve, first captain of Bad Hair Day. Predecessor to Will The Wise and so many more to follow. He was father, mother, brother and captain to his family.
More importantly, he went down in history to them, those who mattered the most, as beloved.

I'm beyond late on this, but thank you for tagging me @whatevsbla!
Rules: List ten books that have stayed with you in some way, don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard - they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just the ones that have touched you.
(these are in no particular order)
'Stuff' by Daniel Miller - to this day I have not finished it, but reading the first few chapters of this book in my undergrad forever changed the way I look at clothes and 'innate' qualities, making me question for the first time why supposedly innate things are meant to be superior to things you actively worked to develop.
'Fool's Errand' by Robin Hobb - my fav RotE book. I love the older Fitz POV, the new characters, and the return of old faves. The relatively low stakes also mean that for the most part I can enjoy the warm character moments knowing that there's nothing awful about to happen in the next chapter.
'Pippi Longstockings' by Astrid Lindgren. The first 'proper' book (i.e. a full novel instead of a collection of short stories) that I've read by myself and one of my fav books as a kid. It forever has a place in my heart.
'Othello' by William Shakespeare. My second Shakespeare play, and also the play that really made me love Shakespeare. Read it over a couple of months for school, which means that I remember details of it much better than a lot of other Shakespeare plays.
'English Renaissance drama : a Norton anthology' - this may be cheating, but this book is just a really good selection of early modern plays that I stumbled upon in my uni library and have been thinking about longingly ever since (although looking online, it appears that used copies of it are actually fairly affordable, so perhaps I could actually buy one for myself)
'Pulpecja' by Małgorzata Musierowicz - another book from my childhood. The entire Jeżycjada series fills me with nostalgia, but this book in particular meant a lot to me as a kid. Growing up fat, reading about a beautiful chubby girl was a balm to my soul.
'National Gallery of Ireland Companion Guide' - this is a weird one, but I picked up a copy of this book during my fine art phase as a teenager and then spend hours pouring over all the paintings and painting descriptions in it. The actual gallery is also very dear to me.
'Anthropocene Reviewed' by John Green. I don't know why this collection of essays spoke to me so strongly, but I cried a lot while reading it and it helped me to feel more connected to/ appreciative of the wider world around me.
'How to keep house while drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organising' by KC Davis - another book that made me cry a lot. I'm not usually one for self-care books, but I bought this one when I was really struggling with my chores and it really helped. I can't say that any of the practical advice really stayed with me outside of one or two things, but the core message of making your space serve you (not the other way around) and not attaching moral judgement or your own self worth to completing chores made this 1000% worth buying. A book I'll be returning to many times over.
'My Brilliant Friend' by Elena Ferrante (although the entire Neapolitan quartet can go here) - I can't remember the last time a series of books absorbed me this much both story wise (although this is more of a character study, and not exactly fast-paced) and intectually. Binged all 4 books in a row (and that's saying quite a bit, considering how often I was annoyed by the main character lol). Wouldn't have picked it up if not for my friend hyping it up a lot, but I'm really glad I did. Also it made me reconnect with my childhood friend, so hey, there's that!
