REDESIGNING MAGIK

Welcome to Limbo! Our group chose Illyana Rasputina, the marvelous Magik for this round! Introduced as the younger sister of Colossus, Magik joined the 80s New Mutants team as a young teen and has since flourished into an A-Lister in her own right. She's been a member of the Phoenix Five, Cyclops' renegade X-Men squad, the Krakoan New Mutants, and the 2022 X-Men team.

She has several inspiration points for artists and redesigners to pull from. She's most well-known for her all-black 2012 look but has also sported demonic and fantasy influences as someone connected to the hellish Limbo and her malevolent alter ego, the Darkchylde.

Version 1 "The Savage Magik". Having been stripped of her magical knowledge, Illyana Rasputin hunts down various enchanted artifacts to replace what she's lost. Becoming desperate she seems to be willing to steal and sometimes kill to get these talismans. Among these are the Soul Dagger of Pixie, the medallion of Daimon Hellstrom, Holy bands from "Heven" and a cursed skull from an alternate version of Lockheed.

Version 2 "Mistress Magik" This is an older more seductive Magik that's been corrupted by the influence of Selene and embraced her sensuality, opening up a whole new avenue of mystical arts that she hadn't dared explore before. She now uses her SoulSword to capture the essences of her foes and much like Selene feeds on them keeping her young and vital.

Version 3 "Magik, Queen of Hell" Many questioned the logic of Magik giving Limbo to Madelyne Prior but the end game has been revealed. Illyana allowed Madelyne to tether her magic to Limbo, knowing eventually "Maddie" would get greedy and begin bringing more power to that dimension. With a carefully hidden clause in the Limbo transference spell Magik takes back Limbo and all the power within it and successfully overthrows all the Hell Lords, unifying the many dreaded dimensions under one fearsome rule, hers.

"Almost as soon as Magik was decided on for this design challenges I had two ideas strike me simultaneously ... The first of those ideas was the image of Illyana as a 90's Riot(ish) on the cover of a Magazine. I wanted to give her an edgy grungy vibe but still pay homage to her Demonic nature.

Shortly after Finishing my first Design I just knew I had to make my second idea come to life.

What if Illyana was an Anime Mech Pilot and Wore a Plugsuit... thats it... thats the idea. I really wanted to strike the Balance between Anime Plugsuit but still being noticeably Magik and X-men.

I kept the Bright yellow Color scheme with hints of black and red and chose to interpret her Armored arm into a Mechanized oversize cybernetic arm that helps fuel her Plasma Powered Soul sword that springs forth from her Gauntlet."

So, I referenced a lot of Castlevania and Yoshiaki Kawajiri designs to get that cool anime look for her down! I plucked some fashion inspirations for the costume from places like: Mugler, Alexander McQueen, LaQuan Smith, JRPG rogues and medieval accessories! And for her new soul sword, I decided to give her an Odachi because since she already lived her Cloud Strife fantasy starting from the Bendis-era, I thought it was time for her to live her Sephiroth moment with this giant Japanese sword!"

I wanted to go down the knight or warrior route, but then I thought ‘What If’ this was an AU Illyana raised by Patch and she got all of Logan’s training rather than Kitty and Jubilee, or, alongside them. So, bham, Oni-demon menpo mask and samurai elements on top of the Mugler flair."

4. gambit. actually he's already bi he just forgot to tell marvel that he's out. he's very devoted to rogue right now but has 100% dated other x-men like bishop in the past.

3. illyana rasputina. she is LESBIAN and she is in love with kitty pryde and i will take no other interpretation of this character! i believe it firmly!

2. rahne sinclair. her mutation and her experience with it is literally a metaphor for growing up gay in a homophobic environment. i don't know what else to tell you, her character simply doesn't make sense if she isn't a lesbian.

1.magneto. he's been married and divorced from professor x more times than either of them can count. that's just the facts. also, i'm not up to date on x-men red but he's definitely having a rebound with the fisher king last i checked.

We are introduced to an x-character almost Nobody talks about and an avenger, nobody talks about. That's right, everyone Firestar and Vance Astro.

[Shot of a couple in a very high-tech space, also presumably underground. They're both in spandex, and both look very fit and very white in a sort of Middle American kind of way. Somehow, it is also obvious that they're not the brightest bulbs in the chandelier.]

*Doctor Benway: These two are the dumbest motherfuckers to ever exist.

Angelica Jones, Firestar and Vance Astro, Justice. I don't care for Vance. But, curiously, The Avengers are present in some form in this au. You would think that this is a world that cant sustain them and we know very little of their full roster.

VA: We got picked up at the airport by Scott Summers. He picked up Doug from the bus station in White Plains on the way.

Int: Did you sense anything ususal?

AA: Summers kind of weirded us out. He didn't say anything. He was waiting for us, holding up a sign with my name on it as I came off the plane. Vance was there with him. It's how we met.

VA: I was so glad to see you. Summers had met my plane an hour earlier and hadn't said anything to me. I asked him some questions, but he just dismissed everything I said with a Yes or a No until I gave up.

Int: Did you have any idea of what awaited you at the house?

VA: We were pretty nervous, but we had no idea what was coming.

AA: No idea at all.

DR: If I had been religious, I'd have said it was like something out of Hell. Going there totally killed off any belief I'd had that there was a God. No God would have allowed that place to exist.

*Dramatic young man.

MAR: But you didn't know that then.

DR: No, not then. Not on that visit.

Int: Did you see anything that disturbed you?

DR: Nothing, at first. On the drive in, I met Vance and Angie, but we were all kind of nervous. Summers kind of projected this weird cone of silence, and I didn't even ask them their names until we got to the School. Xavier and McCoy met with me in this really slick office. Xavier asked me some questions, but he seemed kind of pre-occupied and not really interested. McCoy was the one who really took an interest and asked all the questions.

Int: What kind of questions?

DR: Going-to-the-doctor-type questions. Height, weight, blood type, any loathsome diseases, all that kind of thing. I suppose I should be glad I've still got all my original parts.

*asking questions before removing organs.

Int: Do you think that Xavier tried to take control of your mind?

DR: Someone was sure trying to do something. It felt like a worm was trying to crawl around in my head, but as soon as I'd think that I'd forget it. It was weird.

Int: But you still felt that you were in control.

DR: I still was. I'm resistant. Almost all the survivors were. If you had no innate defenses, there was no protection. I've got protection now. This entire house is a Faraday cage, buried 10 feet below the ground. No psi is ever going to get in here.

Int: You still worry about an attack?

DR: I won't risk it. Never again.

MAR: It won't. I'm sure that our guest would like to know what happened next.

DR: We had a tour of the grounds, which I thought was kind of weird, because I wanted to see what was inside. Computers, science labs, that sort of thing. Instead they showed us the forest and the lake and the boathouse.

Int: Did you meet any of the staff?

DR: Jean Grey, Summers, Logan, McCoy, the Irish guy, the Russian guy and his sister. There were two students there, Sam Guthrie and the one I'll call Psyche. Besides me, there were three other kids visiting. Vance, Angelica and David.

(And it was so hard to believe in anything when life kept beating them all down.) Hearing footsteps, Daisy glanced in the direction of the intruder. She recognized her. Didn’t remember her name — or if she had even given it — but Daisy remembered her face at least. “Didn’t expect anyone to leave the island. Figured you’d all be closing ranks around him.” That’s how it had been when Coulson had died. Of course, Erik wasn’t Coulson but he still mattered.

If anyone needs anyone here — you need me. Don’t get your shit twisted.” What Tabby needed was a distraction, and if Illyana was willing to provide one that was actually interesting? Tabby would stick around. At least for a few minutes. “What did you need me for anyway, Illyana.”

Literally all of them lmao, but especially the OCs we’ve created together because I feel like we’ve put so much time and effort and love into them, and I haven’t really had that with anybody else? Certainly not to the 5+ year extent that we have. 

2) Which muse(s) do you wish had more interactions?

Again, literally all of them. I always wish for more threads with more people.

3) Which muse(s) do you currently have most muse for?

Probably Jamie. He’s having a good muse period.

4) Name a muse you have written in the past. What was your favourite thing about this muse?

I wrote Illyana Rasputina ( Magik ) for an rpg once. I really liked the interactions she had with a lot of the group, but it was ages ago so I can’t really remember the specifics so well.

5) Name a muse you wish to write in the future.

I mean, I have some new muses in the works, but they don’t really have names yet. Just faces and ideas.

14) What is your favourite fandom to write in? Why?

I’m really enjoying writing in the Marvel fandom, because everybody I’ve met / speak with there has been quite nice about everything??? I read about occasional toxic incidents, but I’ve never seen any.

17) What is your favourite thing when you decide to add a new muse to your blog/when you decide to make a new blog?

Finding a tag for the new muse, because I feel like that kind of gives me a baseline to judge their character. 

20) What is the story or explanation behind your blog name?

Les Perdus is French for “the lost”, and I was feeling pretty lost when I moved from my old blog.

Marvel Zombies RP: Nearly 3 Years Down

With the new year in full swing and the characters we have recently opened, your admins here at Marvel Zombies RP wanted to do a general check in.  In April it will have been 3 years since this RP started and we have had many excellent writers come, go and stay.  It has been such a blessing to have so many talented people among us.

It can be difficult to write apocalyptic fiction in an era that at times feels genuinely apocalyptic.  Personally, this admin has always looked at these stories as inherently hopeful -- we would have no story if the characters weren’t creating a future.  Finding happiness and coming together in the bleakest of settings is bravery of the highest order, and those are the stories that we tell here.

bfkanflmwmt i swear to god im. not joking when i say that ive been on this site for 6 years and have never, ever, received any kind of anon hate. like, ever, to the point where i actually began to wonder why like. is there some kind of force field? am i so intimidating that no one wants to tell me they hate me on anon?

deathstroke is literally a pedophile, abusive father, and a terrorist. i hope he dies and never comes back in the comics.

illyana rasputina/magik is just a bitchy white girl who was stuck in hell or whatever idfc about her.

jack hawksmoor is just a blank slate for cishet white men to project onto and jeroen thornedike is peak white evil & a coward.

niles caulder is a Bitch.

mad hatter is literally a pedophile too so he can choke and die + making him a schizophrenic is hella ableist :))))

rahne sinclaire is also a pedophile & homophobe sorry but nothing can ever change that. its part of her character.

hhhhhhhhhhhhh i hate,, that decimation arc in new x-men (2004). all those kids didnt have to suffer & die like that. i also just absolutely loathe any arc that humanizes deathstroke or the joker. also less of an arc and more of an entire comic but i hate batman: jekyll & hyde because of the extreme ableism towards harvey/two-face—literally the only good moment that came from that comic was when harvey is seen holding a wounded bruce and saying "good night sweet prince".
