Looking back at old Minecraft saves is so nostalgic it almost hurts. 

Here is a world where we lived on an island, surviving off of carrots and potatoes. We only ever had one tree, marking the grave of the boat (Trusty T. Boat, to be exact) that lasted the longest, because we made the world when boats broke if you ran them into the shore too hard. We made sure to bury it where it was in view of the sunset. 

Here is a world where we lived underground in an intersection between mineshafts, where all the walls were made of glass so you could see all of the mobs. We memorized the mineshafts around our home so we could always find our way back. We ate melons because those were the seeds you could find in the mineshaft chests. We never went to the surface. 

Here is a world where we lived in a remodeled blacksmith’s house, and there was a block of lapis in the wall to prove our wealth. We never filled in the creeper holes and built walkways on top of all the other houses to avoid mobs at night. 

Here is a world where we had a fenced in yard full of chickens. So many chickens. There was always a cake next to the crafting table. We had a jeb_ sheep nearby, its pen connecting to the house with a tunnel that started in the trashcan.

Here is our first world, in a jungle biome, with the jukebox that we used to listen to all the discs (Cat first, because we liked cats. The first thing we did was tame ocelots). We built a mansion with a checkered floor of crafting tables and water.

The world where we experimented with fireworks. 

Where I spent all my time fishing. 

Where I tried to build a barn. 

Where I made my base in a cliff.

Again and again and again, countless worlds, countless memories.

Seeing your childhood home when everything was rented is so strange.

Like I can pass my old apartment building and think "I used to play with ZuZu Pets in those hallways and we tried to turn that tree blue with chalk and we made a shitty 8 year old run movie on that hill and I got into my first fight in that alleyway and I got my nails painted for the first time in that building. We have pets buried ten places from that building. The building manager taught me how to ride my bike because she was sick of me riding it in the hallway. We used to hide EMF detectors in the laundry room because the light flickered."

And nobody you knew from there still lives there, nobody from that time period stuck around and suddenly the playground has rubber at the bottom instead of the rocks you were used to and that dirt pile you used to climb on is a new building and nothing is the same.
