Apparently the mods on /Art are the same as /cats and I think /OddlyTerrifying so if you get banned in /Art for calling out their bullying on members, you get banned in all of the other subs they mod?

That mods reply is such a rude power trip and it's also preposterous and incorrect.

Shoutout to the artist that was banned, they're a great artist and didn't deserve this! I would've felt horrible if somebody told me something like that mod said to them.

how to deal with assholes

part 1: you are the dad of this rodeo

never forget the most important part of streaming. you are in control. you turn the stream on, you turn it off. you have all the power.

with that out of the way, let's talk about chat moderation.

part 2: a viewer is never more valuable then your time

when new streamers encounter people who are kinda mean, they sometimes feel like they have to put up with it because no one else is watching. this is incorrect.

you do not have to put up with anything - this is your stream and this is your community (even if that community is just you for now). tell mean people to be cool or move on. that is always your right.

part 3: ban them

if someone comes into your stream and makes you and your community uncomfortable, ban them. ask questions, think deeply, feel feelings about it later.

when you ban them, their messages for the last while will go away. they can appeal later and cry about it on their own time. if you ban by mistake, simply unban them and apologize. nice people who enjoy your stream will understand. rude people who don't care about you will be a problem about it. you don't want people in category 2 in your stream anyway.

part 4: what you react to is what you get

the bigger your reaction to something, the more of it you will receive. twitch is all about reactions (just ask xQc).

therefore if people are being mean, they are doing it to see you react. they want evidence that the bullying is working. therefore...

do not let them see you sad

do not let them see you mad

do not let them see you cry

do not argue

do not negotiate

the best reaction you can have to a group of rowdy bullies is the stone-faced enforcement of your power.

part 5: what to do, step by step

in the event that your stream is overtaken by a whole group of assholes (maybe just some bullies, maybe a hate raid), i encourage you to take the following steps:

stop, take a deep breath. all problems are solvable, and all disasters recoverable. do not let panic take over

go on break and mute your mic. don't give them the satisfaction of seeing you upset (the more overwhelming the attack, the more abrupt your break should be - don't bother explaining why you're leaving. if you have time to say anything at all, say that you'll be back in a moment and nothing else)

put chat in emote only mode

put chat is sub only mode

if you can, run some ads (if they're gonna be assholes, you might as well get paid)

if there are an actionable number of people causing the problem (read less than 30 or so), ban them by hand now. you can do more advanced clean up later if you need to. if it's too many to ban, you've gotta end the stream.

once the folks have been cleared out, get back on stream, apologize to your real viewers for the interruption, restore chat and continue on your way. don't bother giving air time to assholes. when it's over, it's over.

if you are too upset to continue stream, don't.

if you use a stream bot, stream deck, or alternative (touch portal, deckboard, etc), you can set many of these actions to a button that you can press to automatically go into SOS mode. i strongly recommend this.

part 6: aftermath

your community will move on as soon as you do. take a moment to calm down, decompress, and remember that those people don't know you and their opinion means nothing. don't let the community dwell on it - that is what they want, for you to be sad for as long as possible.

if you've got a whole ton of bots clogging up your followers, use commander roots tools to clear them out:

part 7: prevention

prevent known bots and assholes from crawling into your stream by using commander roots tools (to pre-ban folks) and sery_bot:

part 8: other security measures

never stream live from a public (as is people you don't bring in can appear) discord channel. if you are live, make sure you have total control over what appears on stream

never click links without checking them off-live first. what your friend thinks is harmless fun might be ban-able by twitch TOS

avoid streaming your entire desktop

people are not entitled to everything they want right when they want it (NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY THEY GIVE YOU). people who care about you will wait until your ready and willing do say / do / answer / preform etc. etc.

set community rules and hold everyone and yourself to them.

put disclaimers on links to gift / donate / tip you saying that everything is considered a gift and is non refundable or exchangeable.

part 9 (FINAL): respect yourself

it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks is ok. all that matters is that you feel safe and comfortable. remember:

hit them with the biggest hammer you have, and never look back.

Ah it was “For all we know the MegamiTensei wiki could just be filled with incorrect info and we would be none the wiser.” And then people started sharing their stories. (One person had to fight to claim Jun was gay iirc, I personally was advocating to the original generic name to keep it uniformed otherwise they should use all the anime names cause it looks like shit not being uniformed, they won’t take the smiling ep tatsuya portrait, they deleted Forced Battle’s page cause they didn’t like it was not “one more god rejected,” they dragged feet on getting rid of the theory that Hiiriji is Aleph, and or when someone wanted to change something they got banned cause the mod was mean and so on and so on).

Enough people said “we need a new wiki” and I was like “fine what do I need to do?” And it was like.....two seconds to make. 

I think anyone can edit, I’m the only mod atm. I only have those two rules in place cause I want uniformity. 

I personally want to have sub pages that look like this: 

So Primary/main page would be like ‘Persona 4 Hero,” which will talk about the events of P4/G (and DramaCDs related to those). He’ll be referred to as Hero (or Leader) during those synopsis. Then the next tab will be “Souji Seta” and it’ll only talk about the synopsis of the manga. Then it’ll be Yu Narukami Anime, and it’ll talk about Yu Narukami in both animes and drama CDs related to those. Then Yu Narukami Game, which will talk about Yu Narukami in Arena/Ultimax/Dancing and manga adaptations of those games (or drama CDS related to it). 

For someone with smaller pages like Tamaki and FeMC. It’d probs be like 2 tabs for Tamaki. First one being “SMT IF Heroine” where it just talks about what occurs in SMT IF as a silent MC, and then the next tab is dedicated to Tamaki who appears in Persona. And then a tab for anthologies I guess (if there are any, I’m not double checking).

For FeMC it’d be Persona 3 Heroine, and it talks about the game. Next tab is for PQ2, one for the Stage Play, and maybe one for the DramaCD.

That way they can be analyzed individually without being conflated (because Minato and Makoto’s characterizations are NOT the same, same with P4 Hero vs Yu or Souji, nameless MC can make decisions that Yu nor Souji had taken). 

This should also keep name wars away imo.

as a blanket statement, creators are allowed to want to be compensated for their effort. this is not inherently a bad thing

i'm unsure of the like. Legality of Expecting compensation when one's work is based entirely in an existing work. or maybe legality is the wrong word. media fanartists and fic writers are known to have patreons/ko-fis/paypals/etc, but ime these are for accepting tips and/or sharing wips, running polls to decide next work, private original commissions, etc

ts4 is the Only game i know of where modders do early access *at all*, much less have enough paywalled content that the parent game has to put out a statement on it. skyrim had the *idea* of paid mods for like three days and there was Such an uproar they axed it and never looked back

i've seen some creators calling players entitled or ungrateful, which, almost puts me in mind to delete their existing works from my folder. yes, you work hard on your mods. no, i don't think you're a bad person for wishing there was more benefit to doing the work. the thing is... why are you doing it if your only concern is making money? why do *video game modding, specifically,* if your goal is making money? the *one* hobby famous for *being done for free*?

if you, like, quit your job to focus on *ts4 mod creation* and intentionally made *that* your sole/largest source of income, look, you're just dumb as fuck. video game modding is absolutely not a profitable venture and you had to know that going in

''modders provide a valuable and necessary service by making the game playable'' this is not a wholly incorrect statement but also, no you are Not necessary. you are a video game modder. see again the note about this being an unpaid hobby for literally every other game

also there is a sizeable chunk of the ts4 player base that chose piracy over giving even a cent to ea. keep that in mind when trying to say you are entitled to players' money

if i could afford to sub to the patreons of my favorite creators i absolutely would, whether or not it got me earlier access to their work. i enjoy the product they release and wish i had the kind of disposable income to go "hey nice job :> get yourself a little treat"

the creators waiting for a clearer statement from ea before they make the official choice to stop the 2-3 week early access model they've been using are well within their right. every statement i've read from ea said something slightly different, there doesn't seem to be one cohesive policy that's been distributed to the people running support/help channels. this portion of the chaos is entirely on them for not being clear whether it's *only* perma-paywall content that's now banned or the *entire* practice of locking mods behind subscriptions, even when it's only for a very short period before public access goes live

The Philosophy of Wind Socks (hear me out, ok?)

from /r/vexillology Top comment: Firstly I’d like to ask: is cereal a soup? The answer is yes but more specifically a wheat and dairy based gazpacho. So, could a wind sock be a flag? The answer is also yes and I’ll explain why. Before writing this, I checked briefly on this sub about wind socks and saw one post about them from 129 days ago. Underneath some comments claimed that it went against vexillological rules which is incorrect and I will elaborate on in just a moment. Another commenter under that post pointed out a historical use of vexilloids such as the fish shaped Japanese (koinobori) windsocks and the famous draco, an ornamental dragon’s head which funnels wind into a fabric streamer. These fill the definition of a flag in function but mostly for the sake of decoration. To begin defending the wind sock I will refer to the five basic principles of flag design. Those being: 1. Keep it simple 2. Use meaningful symbolism 3. Use 2-3 basic colours 4. No lettering or seals 5. Be distinctive or be related **Keeping it simple** I’ll cover the points 1, 3 and 4 here because they’re quite related. It is a fabric tube and easily recognizable with a pattern of usually orange on white (or white on orange depending on your preferred wording). The design, despite taking up a 3D space unlike most flags can be easily reproduced by a child. It only uses the two basic colours of white and orange and the stereotypical tube-like wind sock has no lettering as it is mostly striped. **Distinctive or Related** Wind socks are iconic in their design and are all related in their function. Even if you didn’t understand what they were for, anyone at any age would be able to point one out. The striking colours also aid in this, with the striping drawing our attentions. **Meaningful Symbolism** The wind sock is not only useful for telling the direction of the wind, but also tells an observer an approximation of the wind speed by creasing under the tube. There have been many different movements through history, many avant-garde artists challenging the definition of what makes art. Could a laminated, lined piece of paper be considered a flag? Could the flag represent exactly nothing or exactly everything? Could avant-garde vexillology become a thing? r/vexillologycirclejerk does exist after all. ​ Finally, I would like to pose a question about whether this could be taken further for flags of regions and the likes. I feel it might be difficult abandoning the striking image of the old reliable orange on white, any symbolic embellishments may only be partially appreciated, and the functionality of the original may be lost. NVM, we talking about food now! ☆ Zinogre: Metalhead. ☆ Pukei-pukei: kinda of a pot-head hippie.  ☆ Bishanten: hippie, brings up a lot detox diets. ☆ Magnamalo: confidently incorrect, swears and yells a lot. ☆ Mizutsune: Germaphobic. ☆ Almudron: the one that fuels Mizu’s fear of things not being clean enough, also his roomate and bestie since always, no one really knows why they are friends specially since Almudron constantly picks at Mizu and his germaphobia.

Uses the “@everyone” a lot. 

Elders: ☆ All elder dragons are mods. ☆ Ceadeus is the “Internet Dad”. ☆ Narkakos is the one with alternate accounts. ☆ Kirin: quick to reply mod, but also the one who’s got the less power, probably panics a lot under some sircumstances.  ☆ Oroshi Kirin: Kirin’s twin, but he’s not as nice as Kirin. ☆ Gore Magala: Mod Junior, gets sick often. ☆ Val Hazak  gets along waaayyy too well with Khezu and Gigginox. ☆ Kushala daora: probz the most liberal of the mods along Amatsu. ☆ Velkhana: probaby dating with Kushala, but they don’t bring that up; she’s cold af and often looks down upon others. ☆ Teostra: watches in silence as the others make their chaos, he misses his wife and wishes she was around more often to help ordering the chaos the gc always is. ☆ Chameleos: uses the invisible mode, probably the one that starts the chaos  on the server too.  ☆ Fatalis: he’s never around the server, he might be seen online occasionally but rarely ever, it’s always a mystery what he’s up to. Hi, two different mods not showing up on a computer means incorrect installation or the computer, if CC, is using custom tuning that's not recognized. Or some other mod is somehow blocking them. Make sure script mods are enabled, and that the scripts are in the main mods folder or only one sub-folder deep.

I know that there are conservatives/liberals in American media who are saying that it’s socialism’s fault that Cuba is in the situation it’s in and that is of course incorrect. The fault lies with the authoritarian regime who cannot take criticism when they fuck up running their country to the point where people cannot access their basic needs. 

What the person in the video is doing is lifting up the voices of people who don’t get the chance to talk about their experiences (this is mostly because of white supremacy and censorship from their government). They are talking about how dogshit the situation in Cuba is because of their corrupt authoritarian regime. The person in this video isn’t acting like some reactionary right wing grifter like Candace Owens and ranting about socialism. 

How does this relate back to reddit? Well, some dumb fuck white mod of this sub deleted the post; and then proceeded to call me a liberal, called the TikTok “liberal nonsense” that was exaggerated and told me that I’d get banned from the subreddit if I posted something like that again. 

I’m so mad that I could cry. This is such bullshit. I’m not surprised though. There are white people who do this shit all the time. They go around claiming to be allies to marginalized people, but then will try and tell marginalized groups what to think. Fuck me dude.
