Chan X Felix- Tiny Surprise
Tw: size kink, degrading, masturbation, fairies, piss.
Tumblr media
Felix flew through the forest, his glass like wings fluttering through the soft summer breeze and his silver blonde hair shimmering as the sun bounced off it. A soft giggle like wind chimes left his lips as he raced the butterfly back to his home. Felix’s place in this world was to heal and protect, from animals to plants a single sprinkle of his magical dust could repair any damage done to them.
He was well known amongst the butterflies and other various species in the forest. His bubbly fun personality made them all feel at peace so it wasn’t unusual for him to play with them and race home.
The two glided through the air before coming to a stop with a sudden ‘thud’.
That’s strange… I never remember there being a tree here. Felix thought to himself before looking up and being greeted by a man.
The small fairy felt panic rise in his chest. He saw his butterfly friend stuck in the material of the mans bag, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t risk being seen by the human.
He rushed to hide amongst the petals of a red rose, peeking out ever so slightly to watch the situation unfold as he hoped for the best.
“Aw hello there. Poor little thing.”
The human spoke, gently helping the butterfly free.
A small smile appeared on his lips as the bug fluttered away.
Felix let out a breath that he didn’t know he was even holding. He knew how relentless humans could be when it came to species smaller than them and he was just glad that this human didn’t hurt his friend.
Felix scanned the tall man with his eyes. He had soft orange hair and a handsome kind looking face. He wore a simple black tank top showing off the muscles in his arms and a pair of skinny jeans.
The fairy had to admit that this human was rather beautiful. It had been years since he last saw a human in this part of the forest. His head began to wonder.
What is he doing here? Will he be a threat to my home? What if he sees a fairy? I wonder how it would feel to run my fingers through his pretty hair.
He shook his head trying to forget the thought.
He knew he could never mingle with a human. It was deadly right?
Before he got himself into any more trouble he flew the short distance to his mushroom home before plopping down onto his buttercup sofa and sighing.
He couldn’t get the image of the human out of his head. He seemed different from others he had crossed paths with. Most would have just swatted the butterfly away but this man helped the creature. He closed his eyes letting his head paint an image of how the man looked again. Beautiful. His defined arm muscles. Veins bulging out. He had to be strong Felix thought to himself. If his arms are so pretty and veiny I wonder what his cock looks like? It’s got to be huge. Felix was probably no bigger than his hand but he wondered what it would feel like to be filled up with his big cock.
He had never felt this horny before and it was over a human that he barely even saw for five minutes. He let out a soft whimper as he began to palm at his hard cock with a tiny hand. He tugged at the material of his trousers pulling them down along with his red lace panties letting his cock spring free. He didn’t have the patience to tease himself today. He just needed to cum. He grabbed his length and began to fuck into his hand, his hips rolling back and fourth at just the right pace. Soft moans left his parted lips as he felt his high approach. Images of the human doing the same flashed through his head as he felt his entire body shake with orgasm and ribbons of white release from his cock. He panted , catching his breath feeling tired from his orgasm. He felt his eyes get heavy as he drifted into a sleep wondering what the fuck he had just done.
-The Next Day-
Like every other morning the fairy boy was awoken by the soft sunrise spilling through his windows. He tiredly fluttered over to his mirror to fix his appearance. Stepping out of his stained panties from the previous night and replacing them with a new pair. He wore blue skinny jeans and a black slightly cropped top that showed off his toned abdomen. Looking in the mirror he inspected his face, smiling cutely at his freckles and quickly applying some lipgloss before fixing his hair and heading out the door. Every morning he looked in the close by bushes for berries to make his breakfast. He’s surprised when he sees the handsome man again. He was stood by the bush that Felix goes to, carefully picking the sweet fruits and placing them in a bowl.
‘Wow this human really is weird.’ Felix thought to himself . He has never heard of humans picking berries this early in the morning especially not this deep in the forest. He wanted desperately to know more. It wouldn’t hurt him to follow him right? He wouldn’t go too far. He would just follow him to the entrance of the forest.
He continued to watch the orange haired man from a shorter distance this time. He made sure he was still hidden but this time he could see his features better. On his face there were little freckles scattered around. No where near as many as Felix had but still equally charming.
When the human had finished collecting berries he began to walk along the path home. Not knowing of the little fairy that was following.
A small gasp left Felix’s lips when they arrived at a cottage not far from his own home.
Wow the human lives in the forest?
Maybe…. Maybe it couldn’t hurt to go inside. He wouldn’t stay long he would just study the man a little more.
He followed him through the door taking in the room around him.
It was decorated beautifully. Shades of cream and wood brown made the house feel warm.
He fluttered over to the open kitchen landing on a countertop filled with fresh fruits and he hid behind an apple, peaking out at the man who was looking around his kitchen.
Without any warning the man brought a large hand to grab the apple making the little fairy freeze in terror.
“Oh…um hello.”
The man seemed confused seeing the tiny figure on his counter but he spoke softly.
Felix opened his mouth but he couldn’t reply. Was he going to hurt him?
“Hey hey, you look like you’ve seen a ghost. It’s okay I won’t hurt you. What’s your name?”
“I’m Felix.” He spoke timidly.
The large man flashed a bright smile at the fairy, offering a finger for him to shake with his tiny hand.
“Well it’s nice to meet you Felix, I’m Chan. How did you get in my house tho?”
Felix blushed red at the question. How was he going to explain that he had been following him ever since he saw him yesterday? He hung his head in shame.
“I- I followed you home. I didn’t mean to! I just haven’t seen a human around here so I was curious- I promise I’m not weird or anything.”
He rushed to justify his actions making Chan chuckle.
“It’s okay it’s okay. Don’t worry about it. Wow, I never expected to see a pretty fairy in my house today.”
Felix’s heart skipped… ‘pretty’? He thought he was pretty.
“Well I never expected to see a handsome human picking berries from MY bush this morning.”
He playfully teased the man, flying up so that they were face to face.
“So that was your bush huh? No wonder the berries taste so sweet.”
He smirked shooting the freckled fairy a wink making his heart swoon.
Felix stuttered trying to think of a witty response but his brain had shut off completely.
“Anyway Felix. I have to head out again but I’ll be back soon. You are welcome to stay as long as you like. It would be fun to get to know you.”
He walked towards the door giving a small wave as he left.
What the fuck…
Felix was actually in his home… he spoke to him… and they were…friends?
It was too much for the little fairy to process. He needed to rest.
He fluttered around the house searching for Chan’s bedroom so he could lay down.
When he reached the room he was surprised by the size of the bed. It was truly huge.
The pillows smelt like him . Sweet with slight musk.
He drifted slowly into a peaceful sleep.
~
“Mmh please r-right there.” Felix moaned out when he felt Chan’s fingers hit just the right spot.
He incoherently blabbered as each thrust made him come more and more undone.
“You like that hm? Little pretty fairy likes my fingers inside him?”
Lust dripped from the humans voice making Felix blush.
“F fuck I love it so much.”
~
Chan stood in the doorway shocked, watching the scene in front of him. The tiny fairy was lay on his bed slowly palming at his length in his sleep.
Soft whimpers left his lips and his wings twitched with pleasure.
He could feel his trousers begin to get uncomfortably tight and he bit down hard on his lip to control himself.
He should leave. He knew he should but he was drawn to the fairy.
“Ch Chan your cock mmh.”
Felix moaned out in his sleep, his grinding getting faster.
When Chan heard his name he couldn’t take it anymore.
He walked over to the bed carefully sitting down and he lightly shook the Fairy with a gentle finger.
His eyes fluttered open and when he saw the human his face burned red as he recalled the events of his dream.
“You aren’t exactly a quiet sleeper.” The orange haired man chuckled.
“I uh … what do you mean by that?” Felix panicked. This couldn’t get any worse right?
“I never knew a pretty little fairy like you would be so slutty.”
Chan smirked as he began to lightly trace the patterns on Felix’s wings, making little desperate whines leave his parted lips.
“You like that hm? Does it feel good when I touch your wings like this?”
He Changed the direction of his fingers making the fairy gasp.
“P please Chan.”
Felix didn’t even know what he was begging for at this point. He just needed more.
“Use your words darling. What is it you want?”
“Fuck I need your cock please channie.”
Any embarrassment Felix felt was now long gone. All that clouded his mind was lust.
The two stripped them self’s from clothing and Felix looked in awe at the size of Chan’s cock.
It was huge … even bigger than Felix’s entire body. The tip was tinted pink and pre cum was smeared around the slit while pretty veins decorated it.
He brought a hand to slowly run along one of the veins making the human let out a shaky breath. It was almost pathetic how tiny Felix looked next to his cock alone.
“You are so big Channie.” His eyes glowed with want and his mouth salivated at the thought of the pleasure it could give him.
“Hands and knees darling. Let me prep you.”
The fairy did as he was told. He spread his cheeks apart giving Chan a clear view of his little pink hole.
He felt a slick finger rub against it. Teasing him and making him wet.
“So tiny. How is my cock going to fit in here hm? Have you had anything in here before?”
The question made Felix burn up.
“J just my fingers.”
A Yelp left his lips as he felt the finger enter him. Fuck the way it filled him up made him feel as if he was in heaven. He pressed back trying to feel it deeper inside him.
“Someone’s eager. Such a slutty little fairy. All mine to play with.”
He moved his finger faster making the fairy scream out .
“Ch chan I fuck if you keep doing that I’m g gonna cum.”
“Tsk I suppose we better get you on my cock then. I’m not going to miss the opportunity to fill that pretty little hole with my cum.”
The words made Felix shudder. He fluttered over to the mans cock and lined it up with his stretched hole before sinking down, a loud whimper leaving his lips as he felt the head buried inside him.
That’s all he could fit in his tiny little hole.
Chan’s fingers grasped carefully onto the fairy’s hips as he rocked into him.
“F fuck it feels so good. S so big.”
Felix blabbered as he lost himself in the pleasure.
“You look so pretty bouncing on my cock like this darling. So fucked out and pretty. I bet you wish you could fit more inside that slutty little body of yours.”
Felix couldn’t even take in the words being spoken to him. He was too focused on the feeling of Chan twitching inside him. He felt a warm feeling in his stomach and he clenched around the humans cock.
“Going to cum already? How pathetic that my cock makes you come undone so quickly. It’s okay, let go for me my little fairy.”
With those words Felix felt his body begin to spasm and his tiny cock release strings of white. But it wasn’t over yet.
Chan continued to fuck into him, chasing his own high. The feeling was making Felix go crazy. His body shook with overstimulation and he felt like he was going to cum again.
A strangled cry left his lips as his cock released more liquid but this time it wasn’t a milky white. When he realised what he was done he burned with embarrassment.
“Did my little fairy piss himself hm ? Couldn’t hold it until I was done with you.”
Chan began to rock into Felix even harder. He felt his stomach knot up and a low groan left his lips as he released into the fairy.
After catching their breath the human pulled out, admiring the mess he had made of the fairy.
“You look so pretty like that. My cum leaking out of your pretty hole and down your little thighs. Covered in your own piss. Such a slutty little mess.”
Felix whimpered at the words.
“Fuck that was amazing.”
He was almost in disbelief how good it felt.
It was like a flip switched and Chan was back in full caring mode.
He placed a gentle kiss onto the fairy’s cheek.
“I’m glad you felt good darling. How about I clean you up hm? We can watch a movie after too if you’d like? I’d love to get to know you more.”
Felix’s lips curved up into a little smile.
“That sounds great channie!”
Perhaps humans weren’t so bad after all.
In fact Maybe Felix was in love with one.

A Noble Pursuit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
None of the lessons from the Gerudo Classroom have prepared Rhondson for married life with Hudson, who has grown restless and disappeared from Tarrey Town a year after its founding. She travels to the Akkala Citadel Ruins to hunt for her husband while reflecting on the bridges that will need to be rebuilt in order for Hyrule to embrace a peaceful future.
This story about archaeology, castles, ruins, cultural differences, giant monster friends, and what it means “to live happily ever after” was written for @memorabiliazine, and it’s also on AO3 (here). The accompanying illustrations are by the stylish scholar @pocketwei.
. . . . . . . . . .
This wasn’t the first time Rhondson had set off on a husband hunt.
It was late summer, almost a year after the ghost of the Great Calamity vanished from the castle. Most of Hyrule was still green, but the first touches of red and gold had already begun to appear on the trees of Akkala. It was chilly when Rhondson left Tarrey Town, but the morning fog had lifted and the sky was crystal clear.
Rhondson had always enjoyed mornings. Most people woke up early in the desert and took a nap during the worst heat of the afternoon so that they could stay up late into the evening. Rhondson kept the same schedule in Tarrey Town, a practice that Hudson found inexplicably upsetting. He complained, almost every day now, that she never went to bed with him. He insisted that a man and his wife should fall asleep together. Rhondson explained that she enjoyed sewing by lamplight at night, when the world is quiet and even the plainest thread shines like gold, but he refused to understand.
Hudson had recently grown restless. Perhaps it was because of the tension in their relationship, or perhaps it was only the change of season, but he left Tarrey Town one afternoon and never returned. Ashai’s classes hadn’t prepared Rhondson for this. They’d talked so much about how to catch a man, but never about how to keep him. She wondered if other vai had the same problem. All of the romances she read when she was younger ended with a “happily ever after,” but what was supposed to happen the next day? And the day after that?
All things considered, Rhondson was content with her life in Tarrey Town. Her feelings about the settlement had been ambiguous at first. The location was out-of-the-way, to say the least, but the town received more visitors than she’d expected. The son of the two Sheikah researchers who lived in an old lighthouse up on the northern cliffs made his living as a traveling merchant of fine clothing, and he saw to it that Rhondson always had work. Tarrey Town was unique in its appeal as a marketplace for goods from all over Hyrule, and Hudson’s brightly painted modular houses had become something of a tourist attraction. He’d been flooded with orders for summer rental homes, and a satellite community had sprung up on the other side of the bridge to satisfy the demand.
Hudson managed to keep himself busy, but he seemed to harbor doubts about establishing Tarrey Town on such a small island. To make matters worse, many of the people who’d come to town for the summer were starting to drift away as the days became shorter. Perhaps they were worried about Akkala’s infamous autumn thunderstorms. Rhondson happened to enjoy the heavy rains, whose gale winds and lightning crashes reminded her of the sandstorms back home, but she understood how the violent weather and sudden drop in temperature might put off people who weren’t accustomed to the climate. She’d camped at more than a few oasis waystations during her travels, and she knew it was perfectly natural for the population of a place like Tarrey Town to wax and wane with the season.
Rhondson tried to explain to Hudson how it was normal for people to come and go. Many of the town residents were nomadic by nature, she said, and they had no excuse not to indulge their wanderlust now that it was safe to travel. Hudson adamantly refused to listen. He insisted that a man’s home was his castle. But why not have two castles, Rhondson objected. And people would come back next summer, she reasoned. They’d had to hire new workers to perform upkeep on the vacation homes during the winter, after all, so it wasn’t as though the population was shrinking. If he was feeling ambitious, she added with a wink, they might be able to add their own contribution to the town’s population.
“I’m just not sure how long this town will last,” Hudson replied, ending the conversation with a sigh.
His admission put Rhondson ill at ease, and she couldn’t help recalling Hudson’s anxiety when she realized that he hadn’t come home during the night. “Sometimes you have to treat voe like children,” Ashai had once explained. “There will be times when they take action without thinking about how it will affect you, but it’s likely that their behavior comes from simple thoughtlessness, not spite.” Rhondson didn’t know about that. She’d met enough silly and immature vai in her life to understand that voe didn’t have a monopoly on being pigheaded. Still, if Hudson had gone out and gotten himself lost, purposefully or otherwise, she might as well go find him.
Rhondson set out from Tarrey Town and walked due south, pacing herself as she made her way up the gentle slope of the hills leading to Upland Zorana. Once the mountains began in earnest, she turned west at the road leading to the old stone quarry and kept going until she could see the waterfalls at the source of Lake Akkala.
She’d crossed the Sokkala Bridges when she first came to Tarrey Town instead of taking the longer road to the north, and she was just as impressed by them now as she was then. The log bridges were simple structures, really, not much more than planks laid over support pillars embedded in the banks of the rivulets flowing from the waterfall basin, but they were sturdy and well-constructed. A traveler could cross them with ease, secure enough in their footing to look up and appreciate the rainbows that danced in the misty spray of the waterfalls.
Not every bridge needed to be the Bridge of Hylia, Rhondson thought. Perhaps it was better if most bridges weren’t, in fact. The Bridge of Hylia was a magnificent piece of work, to be sure, but it seemed as though it was already in a state of disrepair even before the Great Calamity. Judging from the conversations between Hudson and his former boss Bolson, no living stonemason had any idea how to repair its gargantuan supports. Meanwhile, more modest structures like the Sokkala Bridges could be maintained whenever the need arose. In their own way, the Sokkala Bridges were just as important at the Bridge of Hylia, even if they never became monuments.
As she crossed the final bridge, Rhondson could see the hazy outline of Akkala Citadel rising in the west. Its massive size was impressive, but she couldn’t imagine it being particularly beneficial to anyone. Truth be told, the ruins weren’t much more than a glorified pile of old stone bricks that could almost certainly be put to better use elsewhere. Speaking of which, Rhondson was starting to get an inkling of where Hudson might have gotten himself off to. “A man’s home is his castle,” he liked to say, and how intriguing it must have been to have an actual castle so close to home, especially if its materials could be repurposed.
Rhondson headed north when the road forked and made her way across the old high bridge over the river, carefully navigating the deep fissures in the stone. Once she was safely on the other side, she began climbing the winding path up the mountain.
The leaves of the trees on the upper slopes of the hill had already turned a bold shade of crimson, and the weathered steel of the Sheikah Tower gleamed in the sun. Rumor had it that the citadel used to be patrolled by Guardians, but nothing confronted Rhondson save for a few moss-covered remnants of ceramic casing. Parts of the road had been washed away in a landslide, probably after the Malice swamp dried up, but the majority of the paving stones were still intact.
Rhondson entered the gatehouse at the foot of the outer wall surrounding the citadel. The inside was littered with rubble from a century-old battle, and the remains of more recent Bokoblin campfires were scattered across the floor. A partially overturned Guardian occupied a corner of the room, its segmented legs folded neatly underneath its casing like the paws of a sleeping cat. When she first set out from the desert, Rhondson had been terrified of encountering a Guardian, but she’d grown fond of the broken bits and pieces of their chassis that had been left beside Hyrule’s roads to remind travelers to remain vigilant. Their round faces and decoratively textured bodies were actually a bit cute, like oversized toys.
Rhondson passed through the gatehouse and entered a small courtyard. The walls of the citadel rose on every side of the open space, but the gaps between turrets were wide enough for the sun to shine through and warm the paving stones. One side of the courtyard was dominated by a large alcove that was probably used to shelter horses. The bare soil under the dilapidated wooden awning was covered in pale green scrub bush and dotted with bright yellow wildflowers.
A covered walkway ran along the opposite wall, connecting the gatehouse to the larger body of the citadel. As Rhondson followed the shaded path, she imagined how heavily the snowfall would accumulate at this altitude. She didn’t envy the soldiers tasked with shoveling duty. She glanced at the enormous wooden door that marked the entrance to the main hall, but its iron fittings were orange with rust. Thankfully, the smaller door at the end of the walkway was barely hanging by its hinges, and Rhondson had no trouble pushing it open.
She called Hudson’s name into the shadows of the citadel. Aside from the echo of her own voice, there was no answer. It probably wasn’t safe to go inside, but she had already come so far. Rhondson figured that she may as well make sure that Hudson wasn’t here before she left.
The interior of the fortress wasn’t nearly as impressive as its silhouette. The entryway was much smaller than she expected, and the floor was made of packed earth. As Rhondson’s eyes adjusted to the gloom, she could see that the wooden beams of the ceiling were exposed. They were dark with ash. The smoke had probably come from the tall braziers secured to the pillars set into the stone walls.
Rhondson walked across the hall, glancing around her with interest. A few piles of old leaves moldered just inside the open service door, but the room was remarkably clean. The tapestries displayed in the bays between pillars still retained some of their color, and wooden weapons racks still clung to the stone walls next to the main gate. Rhondson realized that the earth floor must absorb the humidity of summer and the chill of winter, keeping the wood and cloth relatively preserved. The layer of ash coating the wooden beams of the ceiling probably helped protect them from the elements as well.
Large passageways ringed with shallow arches connected the central hall to the east and west wings, but Rhondson was more interested in a spiral staircase carved into the back wall. Although she had to bend her head to enter, the stairs bore her weight. Each step dipped slightly toward the middle from centuries of use. As she climbed to the next floor, Rhondson was amused by the thought of walking in the footsteps of people who had lived so long ago.
The room above was much smaller than the citadel’s entrance, but its ceiling was almost as high. The walls were constructed of the same unpainted white limestone as the fortress exterior. Their rough surfaces were irregularly broken by small rectangular windows positioned slightly above eye level. Some of the glass panes were missing, allowing a cool breeze to enter the bright and sun-warmed space, but the floorboards were level and seemed solid enough
Rhondson began to make her way from room to room. Her first thought was that the haphazard layout was due to poor planning, but she gradually realized that different parts of the Akkala Citadel must have been built at different times, more than likely after various battles. Very few furnishings remained in the deserted fortress, but the architecture differed so drastically between rooms that it was clear she was walking through different periods of history. Rhondson was amazed by the evolution of the windows, which became larger and more ornate as she walked. She imagined that this was what Hyrule Castle must look like, an amalgamation of architectural styles that had grown and transformed along with the kingdom itself.
Rhondson enjoyed her stroll through the ruins, but Hudson was nowhere to be found. The sun was already low in the sky, so she made her way outside and began her descent. From her vantage point at the top of the path, she could see a flat patch of land at the base of the hill. The soldiers stationed here must have used it as a parade ground for exercise and training. It would be as good a place as any to make camp.
Dusk had begun to gather by the time she arrived on the field, and the shadows lay long across the tall grass. Rhondson didn’t see the Hinox immediately, but she could smell it. The odor wasn’t unpleasant, but it was unmistakable. As soon as she realized that she wasn’t alone, Rhondson turned to leave. Most Hinoxes tended to ignore the travelers that wandered into their vicinity, but she didn’t want to take any chances.
Without warning, the Hinox bellowed. Its scream sent startled birds up from the nearby trees in a rush of beating wings and angry squawking. Rhondson prepared herself to make a run for her life, but she was stopped in her tracks by a voice she would recognize anywhere.
“Don’t cry, you big baby. It only stings at first. You’ll feel better in two shakes of a blupee’s tail.”
Rhondson shook her head with amusement as she walked across the field toward the source of the voice. The Hinox pouted at her, giant tears spilling from its eye.
“Hudson?”
The broad-shouldered man crouching beside the Hinox jerked his head up. “Rhondson? What are you doing here?”
“I could ask you the same thing. I came looking for you. Is this where you’ve been this whole time?”
“I meant to come back last night,” Hudson replied, averting his eyes. “But this oaf hurt his foot while helping me clear away the rubble on the path up the mountain, and I couldn’t just leave him like this. The wound would have suppurated, and he’s all alone out here.”
Rhondson gave the Hinox a closer look and saw that it – he – had a deep gash on his heel. Hudson was cleaning it with a balled-up wad of fabric. If she wasn’t mistaken, it was the first workshirt she’d sewn for him. She’d made it just as they were starting to get to know one another, before she knew his measurements, and it fit him poorly. She asked him to throw it away and bury it with the compost months ago, but he’d apparently kept it. Hudson was surprisingly sentimental for a man who insisted on utility over decoration. It was one of the things she liked about him.
Rhondson smiled as she shrugged her pack onto the ground and dug out a jar of safflina salve. As Hudson helped her dress the Hinox’s wound, he explained that he had indeed come here to assess the state of the stonework. He assumed the citadel would be in ruins, but the structure was still sound. It would be a shame to dismantle it. With a few minor renovations, it would be almost as good as new. Still, making it more habitable would mean reducing its efficacy as a fortress.
“But what does that matter?” Rhondson asked. “Who’s going to attack it?”
“There are monsters roaming about, and…”
“Does this ‘monster’ look like he’s going to attack anyone?”
The Hinox had fallen asleep as they talked and was snoring lightly.
“He’s not a monster,” Hudson replied with a frown.
“Exactly. It seems to me that you’re already thinking about hiring him to work for you.”
“I’m not… Well, I guess I am. Having a Hinox around would be useful, especially if I decide to fix up this place, but we’d have to knock down some of the interior walls to make more room for him.”
Rhondson winced as she remembered all the times she’d banged her forehead on Hylian doorways. Now that she thought about it, there was no reason for those doors to be so low in the first place, especially not when her husband could so easily make them more accommodating. “Weren’t you planning to knock down the walls anyway?” she pointed out. “You could use the materials to repair the bridge.”
“But it’s disrespectful not to honor the past,” Hudson objected. “Shouldn’t the history of the Akkala Citadel be preserved?”
“It’s in ruins.” Rhondson put a hand on his shoulder. “One day you’ll have to come with me to visit my family. Everything in Gerudo Town is built on top of history. Nothing gets done if you worry about preserving the past as it once was. Living things change, and that includes old castles like this.”
“Maybe it includes towns too,” Hudson replied. “I guess it won’t be so bad if Tarrey Town grows. We could have a sister city maybe, right here on this hill. It would be a convenient waystation for travelers.” He thought for a moment. “And a good place for Hinoxes, too. It’s built on their scale, at least, and they’re all over Akkala. It’s a shame they always have to sleep in the open. Besides, Mason looks like he could use a friend. He’ll be lonely without me.”
Mason? Rhondson grinned at the name her husband had assigned to the Hinox. “Are you going to bring him home, then?” she asked.
“Home is wherever you are, Rhondson. We’ll go wherever you like. I missed you.”
“I missed you too, but we can spend a night or two away from Tarrey Town. I’d like to go back to the citadel tomorrow morning. I don’t think anyone has been inside this place for at least a hundred years.”
The sun had finally set, and stars were beginning to shine in the deepening indigo of the twilight sky. Rhondson smiled as she pictured the castle on the hill once again filled with lights. There was a certain charm to speculating on what the past might have been like, but the future held much more potential for imagination.

you led her onto the sidewalk and she began sniffing at the grass around her
whenever a few people would pass they would coo at how adorable she was
it wasnt until 5 minutes later that ur eyes locked onto a figure infront of the lake
you were just walking with suki in silence.. admiring the scenery
until u caught sight of a boy
u could only see his back but u noticed the camera over his shoulder
he was standing in one of those photographer poses where like one leg is bent and kind of out while his back is hunched to get that perfect angle of a shot
he was infront of the sidewalk railings where the lake begins and he was taking photos of the scenery across from it
it was a beautiful sight honestly
there was another sidewalk but behind it was colorful trees and blossoming flowers and bushes
u understood why he’d take pictures of it
you didnt see his face but u kind of acknowledged the boy before walking past him with suki
basically thinking he was just another passerby that you noticed making a single appearance in your life and never expecting to see him again
OH BOY U WERE WRONG
the next time you see him is 3 days later at the same park
you were walking suki again but this time at 7pm after dinner
the sun was almost done setting so the sky was getting darker but there was still a hint of the orange circle peeking from below
this time you walked further down the sidewalk path towards the scattered gazebos
and you noticed the same boy again
this time he was sat in one of the gazebos with his tiny camera in his hands
his back was hunched over again and he was looking closely at the pictures he had taken
‘oh its him again’ u thought
and that was it
LOL
u just acknowledged him in ur head AGAIN before u thought nothing of it and continued ur walk with suki
so the NEXT time u saw him was another 2 days later at 7pm again
you wanted to take suki on a quick walk
but you got tired after like 10 minutes so you sat down on a blanket u brought
suki was just laying next to u while u were on ur phone
it wasnt fully dark out yet and there was still a few people in the park
the fairy lights that were placed around were lit up already
it was super pretty and the weather was nice
after staring at ur phone for a few mins u looked up just to look around
and u saw Him again
wow
why do u keep seeing him !?!?!
his back was faced towards u like always
and he was like 40 feet away from u so he looked so tiny
but u could tell it was him because of his blond hair and black coat he always wore
you kind of zoned out and unfortunately ur eyes were trained on his back without u even noticing
and he
turned
around
for the first time EVER!!!!
its like he sensed someone staring at him
but yes he turned around with his camera in his hand
the first thing u noticed was that he got a new camera
it was a larger black one
definitely more expensive
Awe good for him!!!!!
and then u glanced up to see his face
and u made EYE CONTACT
u looked away so fast
because
He was SO CUTE.............
u awkwardly started looking to your left and tried turning ur face away from him
‘oh look at those beautiful um... birds.. yeah’
hopefully he didnt notice
*nervously sweats*
u didnt dare look back in that direction so u spent the rest of your evening in the park on ur phone or playing with suki
eventually it reached 8pm so u packed up ur stuff and went home
U were still kind of thinking about that boy....
so u were like
i need to go back
and u did Lol
u went back the next day at 6pm this time with suki
it was lighter out and the sky was beautiful
perfect for a certain boy to be taking photos
*evil laugh*
u were walking for like 15 minutes and u didnt see him anywhere :((((
the one time u go there for HIM
u settled down under a tree
suki immediately went on the blanket when u sat down too
you played tug of war with her and fed her some treats while playing
playing with her for 10 minutes straight definitely tired u out so u laid down and just stared at the sky
it was a faded blue turning into orange and pink
U were kinda bored so u sat up and started petting suki
you would occasionally glance up at the strangers walking past u
and
let me tell u what Happened..
u looked up at another lady walking her dog and went like
‘aweee that dog is so cute’ in ur head
and u took ur eyes off the dog and glanced to ur right
idk bc u felt like it
AND GUESS WHAT U SEE???!??????
THE BOY
LIKE 20 FEET AWAY
STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD
AND HE HAD HIS CAMERA UP TO HIS FACE
and it WAS POINTED AT U ??!?!
as soon as u looked in his direction he jumped and put his hands down
he like
Blushed????? and awkwardly smiled u know rubbing the neck and all that
he was embarrassed
ur cheeks were turning so red
BUT HE WAS SO ADORABLE
was kind of weird.... stalkerish but um
he cleared that up BECAUSE
He started walking over to u
he was wearing black jeans that were ripped on the knees with black high top converse
and a gray sweater with a black coat over it
HE JUST LOOKED CUTE OK
ur were like OMg []£{€]%[#{%€]£{
n he just Plop
he stood right infront of u basically towering bc u were sitting under the tree
suki noticed the boy and tilted her head like hmmmm???
u had the SMALLEST smile on ur face bc u wanted to seem friendly but not TOO friendly
he had his camera strap over his arm while he held it and his other hand was rubbing the name of his neck
“uh... sorry about that.. i didn’t mean to seem weird or anything!” he waved his hands infront of him to deny it
u just sat there while he talked like ❤️_❤️
“im uh taking photos for my class and i thought u looked nice so i took some pictures.. im really sorry i should’ve asked first now i seem weird or something im really-,”
u cut him off so he didnt ramble any longer
“no its okay! i get it” you gave him a warm smile and pet suki while she drifted to your side and kept her eyes on him
u both just stared at eachother for a few seconds before you spoke
“um.. would you like to sit?” you scooted over and made room for him in the blanket
WOW U WERE FEELING BOLD TODAY...
“uh sure” he set his camera down and sat beside u
“this is suki.. shes my cousins dog” u said when she climbed into his lap and started sniffing him
he grinned and pet her before looking up at you
“im ni-ki by the way” his cheeks turned a bit pink which u thought was cute
“y/n” you smiled
“suki seems to like you” u laughed
“so how long have you been working on this project or whatever?”
“oh um i started last week... i just have to make a portfolio of photos i take and turn it in” he said while keeping his eyes trained on suki
u noticed he didnt make eye contact with u often but u knew it was probably because he was nervous because u do that too
“can i see the pictures...?” u hesitantly ask him
his eyes light up when u say that
“yeah!”
AWE HES SO EXCITED
he picks up his camera next to him and clicks a few buttons
“oh by the way... ive noticed u at the park before! you’re always with the camera” you laugh
“ah yeah, this park is where most of my project photos are taken.”
he leans over and shows you the pictures on the device
“woah” you let out a gasp
he showed u the picture he took of you first
How does a picture look better than real life...
you’ve never really been into photography but now that you’ve seen his work u might just have to start getting into it
“this isnt even done yet, i still have to edit it so it’ll look even more perfect” he shyly says
“this is amazing what the heck” your jaw is Dropped
“thanks”
“i need to see the final result” u said because it was such a nice picture
“um.. if you give me your number i can show you it” he sent you a cheeky grin
SMOOTH.....
he was so AGGGHGGHG ur kind of obsessed
you two exchange numbers and talk about random things for a whole hour until he says he has to go
“it was really nice meeting you.. i had fun” he tells you as he starts standing up
suki is sleeping so he tries not to wake her up
“i had fun too” you smile
“would you like me to walk you to your car?”
A GENTLEMAN !!?!?!?!
“oh yeah, thanks”
you two spend another 2 minutes together as you walk side by side with suki in your arms and he held your blanket and bag for you
you reached your car and thanked him
“ill see you soon, dont forget to text me! and good luck on the project, i know you’ll do great”
“thank you..”
ni-ki’s cheeks turn pink once more before he turns around and starts walking away with a smile on his face
he is just the cutest thing ever
you definitely need to see him again

Chapter Eight - Chance Meeting
Part 5: Happenstance on Friday
By the time lunch had rolled around your morning classes had nearly driven you to exhaustion. As class came to a close you swung your bag, now much heavier than it had been when you started the day, over your shoulder and dragged yourself out into the hallway. Making your way to the exit you checked your watch and noticed the premature ending to your last course had given you twenty extra minutes on your lunch hour. On a whim you decided this extra time shouldn’t go to waste; you’d been working so hard these past few weeks you’d barely had time for anything other than classes and homework.
The entirety of the town outside UA remained completely unknown to you, having not had time to explore it with everything else going on. You deserved a treat, you decided, so when you reached the end of the parking lot where you’d usually turn right towards the cafeteria hall you swung a sharp left in the direction of your dorms instead.
Depositing your bag in your room five minutes later you looked up some of the restaurants scattered around town and their relative closeness to campus. You decided on a Soba place which was only a ten minute walk away from campus. Depositing your phone in your pocket you made your way to the West exit, knowing that it was the exit closest to your route and also less likely to be crowded.
As you approached the large gate you took a moment to appreciate the landscaping of UA; its large and intricate cobblestone path framed by rows of decorative hedges, flowering bushes, and the occasional iron wrought bench. It was a beautiful day for it too, the sky impossibly blue with only a few fluffy clouds lazily drifting by. A cool breeze drifted through the trees above, shaking a few of the reddening autumn leaves from their places and sending them dancing through the air and onto the ground.
You were so focused on taking in the sight of the school grounds that you almost missed a familiar figure sitting on one of the benches; face pressed so deep into his book that his nose almost grazed the paper and only his dark messy hair could be seen over the top of it. Tamaki, you recognized, was bent so far into his book his lanky frame seemed close to snapping in two. Butterflies erupted in your stomach and you felt your face grow hot as you slowed your approach and stopped directly in front of him, clearing your throat so as not to startle him with your sudden presence.
His head snapped up and you grinned at the look of complete surprise on his face. He looked like a deer in headlights and as he realized who was in front of him his face reddened into a deep blush. He was just as adorable in person as you though he would be and you couldn’t help the grin you broke into.
“Hi Tamaki!” You greeted, plopping down on the opposite end of the bench “How are you doing today?”
“Oh! H-h-hi Y/N” He stammered, nearly dropping his book in his haste to jam it into his bag “I-I-I d-didn’t expect t-to see you h-here t-t-today!” Tamaki hadn’t been exaggerating when he said his stutter was strong, and you and your soulmates hadn’t been wrong in thinking it would only make him more adorable.
“Yeah!” You said, attempting to be more casual than you felt “I got out of class early today and decided I’d go have lunch outside the school walls today. Felt like a good day to do it, being Friday and all.”
“O-oh y-yes F-Friday is a g-g-good day to do t-things like that. H-Have t-treats I mean” Tamaki finally managed to jam his book into his bag, but then seemed to realize he had nothing more to do with his hands. His blush only deepened as he went from twiddling his thumbs, to interlocking his fingers, to jamming his hands flat down on the bench and looking anywhere that wasn’t you. “I-I-I actually made plans w-w-with my f-friend Mirio today!” He said “W-w-we’re getting l-lunch t-today too.”
You chuckled “Brilliant minds do think alike” you replied “I’m assuming you’re waiting for him here then?”
Tamaki swallowed and nodded vigorously, seemingly unable to say anything more than he’d already said.
You hummed “Well that’s fun, I had plans to visit the Soba place not too far from campus grounds, If you two hadn’t decided on a place for lunch already I’d love for you both to come along.”
Tamaki’s eyes widened as he looked over at you “We h-h-hadn’t d-decided on a p-place yet, s-so if he’s w-willing to go I’d w-wouldn’t m-mind….” Tamaki trailed off, drawing his knees up to his chest and hiding his face in them.
You couldn’t help but grin at him, he was just too cute for words. “Well I don’t think he’ll mind!” You said, standing up “And if that tall blonde sprinting towards us is him then we won’t have long until we’re able to ask!”

pretty boy & zombies
Tumblr media
pairing: yunho x reader
summary: In the year 3013, the government unleashed their first wave of "natural selection". They took out elderly by offering a vaccine that was told to prevent further sicknesses and stated that it was mandatory. After the elderly were wiped from the earth, phase two was put into action. There they unleashed a monster. The government started the zombie apocalypse in hopes that the elite human race would show itself.
word count: 1.9k (a/n its been awhile and this is lowkey shit, I also can't figure out how to put "keep reading" in with the new Tumblr update, but I hope you all enjoy this drabble💖)
Tumblr media
It was day like every other day, humid and way too hot for any sort of physical activity. The small house you sit in does little to keep the warm weather out, it was a cute place from what was left. There had been an old couple in here prior, from what you gathered. They looked cute and happy in the photos that were scattered across the walls. Most of the food leftover had gone bad, but they did have a decent amount of medical supplies.
You sighed as you thought back to your home, your parents and your little baby sister. It was hard to keep track of the days you have been without your family, four or five months maybe. Your college days were long behind you now, no more parties, no more all nighters doing homework. Everything had been taken from you.
On an average day supply run, you can still see the tall billboards, promising a better future. The face of the man who decided to play God and Mother Nature. What bullshit. You wondered if he is dead now, if the zombies got to him like they did to everyone else in the towns.
One could only hope.
As for other survivors out there, you know that there are some sharing the near city with you. One day stores could have shelves of food and the next day there seems to be half. Although you haven’t crossed paths with any. Who knows if they would be friendly.
Maybe they’d put you out of your misery.
Most days that sounded nice. To be able to join your family in the afterlife. Somedays you knew you didn’t want to die, the fear of what comes next after death chilled your bones. You certainly don’t want to feast off human guts and brains for the next eternity. What if the undead are still the people they were before? Maybe they can only watch themselves turn into a monster.
As you were running low on filling meals, left with light snacks, you decided it was best to into the deeper parts of the city. It was risky, considering it used to be the most populated, but desperate times come to desperate measures.
You grabbed your gear and your sharp machete and adjusted your makeshift armor straps before taking off. Staying low in the tree was one of the safer moves, taking the longest way into the city in hopes of avoiding hordes. The nature was a beautiful sight, the refreshing smell of pine and the distant trickling of water. Normally it'd be calming if you didn't have to fear the undead lurking.
You wondered if nature would begin to go back in time, before the greedy human fingers that destroyed their beauty. However, you wondered if there would be any animal left once the zombies come and eat them as well. One could only hope they'll be okay.
As the trees began to thin out, you could see the city that used to home to many. The streets were covered in half eaten corpses, trash from the chaos and blood. In the beginning, this sight had you emptying your stomach in a near by bush, 10 deep breaths and one 'you can do this'. These days though, it was just the normal sight you'd become accustomed to.
Normally, these trips would be to the same grocery store you've been too for the last few months. You knew these roads now, and every nook and cranny on the way there. But today was different. You were tired of looking like you just crawled out of an old ladies closet, no offense to her. So you decided to head towards one of the stores with both clothing and food. Hopefully you'd find a new blanket to take as well.
There was a light pep in your step as you made your way there, a small amount of excitement you haven't felt in a long time at the thought of some new clothes. You wondered what else there would be there besides what you need and that thought was fun to think about. So similar to what would've went through your head before the destruction of humanity.
You stuck close to the walls of the tall buildings, trying to be as quiet as you could. You couldn't afford to risk being caught now, out in the open by the dead before you even had a chance to see how bad the rest of the city really was.
What you didn't realize, though, was how lost you were in your thoughts. You inched closer to that dark alleyway you would've avoided originally, one that could hide several lurking bodies within.
It was too late by then, a large and warm hand covered your mouth as an arm wrapped itself around your torso. Alarm bells were going off in your head, slowly realizing that you had to escape before you met your doom. Tears were threatening to spill from your eyes, praying to whatever was out there to let you live for another day.
"Would you shut up? I'd rather not regret saving your ass." It was a harsh whisper against your ear, but it did its job as you calmed in the unknown (hopefully) humans arms. "You were being followed." This time the voice was soft, hand finally falling away from your mouth to pull you closer and further into the darkness.
Only then did you notice the scuffing of feet and deep voices. You could tell they weren't far, and they clearly would've seen you walking alone at some point. A thousand 'thank yous' raced through your head towards the person behind you and you could only hope they could feel how thankful you were. You turned to look towards the stranger, only seeing that is was a male who was taller than you. Or at least, thats what you assumed.
The two of you stayed within the alleyways darkness even after the group walked past and out of ear shot. You heard a breath of relief behind you, followed by a brief brush of shoulders. As the man peered out from the darkness, you saw the messy mop of black hair and a quarter of his face. Inching closer to the man, your eyes popped over his shoulder and scanned for any signs of movement. When you both deemed it safe, he motioned you with his fingers and brought you in the opposite direction of the group.
"The hell were you doing out in the open like that?" He said above a whisper. However you were shocked by the way his eyes sparkled in the sunlight, simply managing a small shrug. He rolled his eyes at you in response, "I'm Yunho.. I've been living in that upscale apartment complex a ways down for about a month, and I swear I've seen everyone who is left around here. You're new?"
You scoffed lowly and looked over your shoulder. Why was he telling you this? Did he want to take you back and murder you for supplies? "I've been living in the woods, there was a farm a little ways out and I've only stuck to the store on that side of town."
Yunho hummed, seemingly lost in thought. He didn't seemed too beat up for being out here alone, not like you at least. There were scratches on your arms from shrubbery as well as old blood from a run in with the dead. Yunho was handsome and from the glimpses of his smile, you could tell it was bright.
You had been walking side by side for awhile now, going into the town deeper than you ever had been. The building were getting taller, more expensive and grand. First floor windows were either boarded up or broken, probably either hiding or stealing. You could picture the busy streets, the high class fashion of the upper working class.
"If you've been here for a month, how come you haven't tried to make friends?" You said softly, looking up at Yunho curiously.
"I had ran into the leader about two weeks ago," He scratched his head, looking from side to side while he kept an eye out. "It was fine at first, we made small talk in one of the stores." Yunho pointed behind him and rolled his eyes, "Somewhere back there, I don't remember. We talked for awhile before one of his buddies came in and claimed he could see a bite mark.. All hell broke out after, but I snuck out the back."
You rose your brows and patted him on the shoulder. "His buddy sounds like a real winner."
Tumblr media
When you reached the building, you were pretty amazed at the shape it was left in. There was only one window that was broken, leaving the rest of them untouched. "I don't think anyone attempted to stay here so it was pretty much abandoned." Yunho smirked to himself and took a deep breath before he opened the front doors. "After you, ma'am." He bowed and gestured for you to take a step indoors. You gaped at the interior, if you thought hard enough you could see this place lit up and running as it should. The fountain glowing as the clear water fell into each bowl, grand chandeliers brightening the room. Your face was stuck, awestruck with a small smile. You wished you could've saw everything work in action or had the opportunity to stay a night here with room service.
"Woah.." You whispered when an arm was thrown around your shoulder.
"Wanna go room hunting with me? I've only been to the first five floors." Yunho whispered back as, he too, studied the hotel lobby. Pursing your lips, you shrugged and looked up at Yunho. Studying his features for a few brief moments. He was, indeed, very handsome.
Yunho watched you from the corner of his eye, his lips twitching into a smile. As fast as he could, Yunho turned his whole head to catch you in the act. The smile turning into a giant smirk. "See something you like?" He spoke first, head cocking to the side. "It's okay, I see something I like as well." A wink was sent your way, causing a blush to cover your features.
"Shut up," You joked, side eyeing him before your elbow met his ribs. He chuckled at you and took your hand to pull you to the stairs. "Find me some nice clothes and I'll reward you with a treat." Instead of your voice giving off a confident tone, it came out small and squeaky, leading your blush to darken a tenfold.
"Oh? And what is the treat? I think I should know before doing what I'm told."
"Guess it depends on how well you do."
Tumblr media
After several hours of searching, jokes and excitement from not expired food, Yunho was able to come up with a nice sturdy set of blue jeans, a pair of leggings, some new combat boots, three shirts and one giant ass hoodie. He looked at you with wide and innocent eyes, silently asking you for his treat.
With a long sigh, you plopped yourself down on the couch and gestured him to come closer. As soon as he was within arms reach, you gripped his shirt and pulled him down on top of you. "Y/n.. you can't have my shirt." He said with a shit eating grin.
"Just shut up and kiss me."

Peter woke up slowly, shielding his eyes from the bright sun light coming through the trees. He blinked several times with a grimace, feeling like he had the worst hangover of all time. He heard other moans of pain joining his own and looked around, finding his friends all lying on the grass, hands on their heads , looking just as confused as Peter felt. And then, after a moment, he finally noticed what they were wearing. Cassie had a hat on her head, complete with an eye patch and a trench coat that screamed ‘pirate’. MJ was at her right, wearing a long, red dress and… horns. Michele had horns. Michele was red and had horns! Peter was pretty sure he was about to have a heart attack.
“OH MY GOD!”, Harley screamed in terror.
Everyone turned abruptly to see a dragon-like person, eyes as red as blood, and a mouth full of very sharp looking teeth. They all immediately got up, stepping away from the beast with gasps and yelps of terror.
“OH MY GOD, WHAT HAPPENED TO MY FACE?”
Peter narrowed his eyes, taking one step closer to the dragon. “Harley? Is that you?”
“WHO THE HELL ELSE COULD IT BE? I’M A FUCKING DRAGON, MAN!”
“Holy crap”, Ned said softly on Peter’s left, raising his hands and looking at them in awe, “Holy crap, I’m green”.
“Ok, what the hell is going on?”, Michele asked angrily and, by god, she looked even more terrifying now than she did in her human form.
“Ok, everyone just calm down. Harley, stop screaming!”
“I’M A DRAGON! OH MY GOD, I’M AN UGLY DRAGON!”
Peter ignored his laments and turned back to the rest of the group. “Ok, it’s obvious what just happened. Loki is messing with us”.
“Makes sense”, Ned replied with a nod, “He is the god of mischief, right?”
“He is DEAD, it’s what he is! LOOK AT ME”, Harley complained, touching his gigantic dragon face with a painful moan.
“What are you guys even complaining about? This is awesome! We’re basically our characters! And I’m guessing we’re in a far away land, ready to live an adventure! This is the best day EVER!”
“Easy for YOU to say, you’re a hot pirate!”
“Own, you think I’m hot?” Cassie asked, mockingly batting her eyes at Harvey, who blushed like crazy and was ready to retort before being interrupted by Peter.
“Stop that, you two! We need to work together here to fix this mess”.
They all jumped when a sudden, very loud clap of thunder filled the clearing. Smoke appeared out of nowhere and the gang covered their eyes, coughing. Finally, the white smoke dissipated and they noticed a tall figure in the middle of it.
“Dr. Strange?”
“I am Strange, the wizard, and I have come seeking your help, young adventurers”.
They all exchanged exasperated looks.
“Ok, I’m guessing we’re gonna have to play along with we want to get out of here”, Peter whispered to the others, who nodded in agreement.
“What troubles you, wizard Strange?”, Cassie inquired in a firm voice.
“Evil has penetrated these lands…”
Harley snorted. “Penetrated”, he repeated between giggles, earning a very stern look from Michele.
“… and only you can save the people from its claws. There is a town not far from here, where you will find food, ale and shelter, but first, you must defeat the beast that guards these woods. Slay the beast and the magic that surrounds this forest shall weaken and you, my brave adventurers, will be able to continue your journey to the cursed Castle of Vania”.
It was Peter’s turn to snort, “Castle of Vania?”
“Makes sense, I showed him the Netflix series last week”, Harley added with a shrug.
“Go now, brave adventurers, and good luck. But fear not, we shall meet again”, and with another loud thunder echoing through the clearing, Strange disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
“So… Any chance Harley is the beast we have to slay?” Cassie asked while Harley threw her dirty looks.
“I’m guessing not. We should take that path; it looks strangely lit when compared to the others”.
“Alright, let’s go”.
And so, together, the group started walking towards the lit path, feeling not entirely ready for an adventure.
---
They walked for what felt like hours through the dense forest, carefully watching every step and sometimes kicking some twigs they found on the way. The forest was strangely silent, no birds singing, no animals running around the bushes, just the eerie silence that seemed to weigh on them with every step they took. Suddenly, Michele stopped and raised her finger to her lips, gesturing for the others to be quiet.
Harley snorted, “We’re not even talking”.
Everyone turned to glare at him before turning their attention back to the clanking noise ahead. The sounds were somewhat weird, like a big old rusty machine, the gang thought as they inched closer to its origin. Suddenly, they saw a clearing a few feet down from where they were, much like the one they had found themselves earlier upon waking up in this strange world. Down there, scattered on the grass, were big cages with all sorts of animals inside, with goblins patrolling the place, carrying small swords and bows.
“Holy shit, those are real life goblins!”, Cassie exclaimed excitedly.
“Shhh”, Michele replied, “they’re gonna hear you. So, what are we going to do? You think maybe they’re the evil we’re supposed to end?”
“Strange said ‘the beast’, though. So goblins don’t make much sense”, Harley supplied with a shrug, “But we’re gonna have to deal with them to go forward, right? Look, there’s a path over there”, he pointed to the small pathway right across the clearing.
“Great, we’re gonna have to fight goblins!”
“I think Pete should probably go first, he has the most experience with those”, Ned said in a joking tone and then stopped, “Wait, do you still have your powers? Like, your Peter Tingle?”
“Ok, first of all, it’s called the Spider Sense. And second of all, no, I felt nothing, and I don’t have my web shooters so we’re on our own”.
“Oh no, he lost his Peter Tingle”, Harvey mocked him, making the boy glare at him.
“Guys, we’re our characters right now. So we have their powers. We use those!”
They looked at each other in awe, the information sinking in for the first time.
“Ok. Ok, but there are too many goblins down there. How can we fight them all?”
“Uh, guys…”, Harley said, with a smirk, “…In my hometown we have a song called… Far Cry 4”.
Cassie snorted loudly while Ned and Peter tried to control their laughter.
“I don’t get it”, Michele replied, confused.
“It’s a video game. He’s saying we should free the animals and let them deal with the goblins”, Peter explained.
“Cool, how are we gonna do that?”
“Pete can turn into animals! He could turn into a cat, go down there and open the cages with his tiny claws”.
Michele stared at him for a moment, “That sounds like the worst plan ever”.
“But it’s the plan we got so get going”.
Peter took a deep breath and closed his eyes. And then, after a minute, opened them again, throwing his friends a very confused look.
“How do I do it? Like, do I just think about it?”
“I guess? Yeah, try that”.
Peter closed his eyes once more and scrunched his nose in concentration. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, a small white cat was standing in the boy’s place. He looked at his own tiny paws and then shook his butt, as if preparing to jump. He meowed to the rest of the gang, ignoring their comments on how cute he looked, and turned to the clearing, going down the small hill and towards the cages with dexterity. He was careful enough to hid in the nearby bushes whenever a goblin passed by and made his way slowly to the biggest cage, where a big, brown bear sat, looking very sad. He got as close as he could, observing the bear. It had just occurred to him that, if he let the bear go, he’d probably attack not only the goblins, but his friends as well. Maybe I can talk to him?, he thought to himself.
“Uh, hello?”
The bear looked up and around, apparently searching for the origin of the voice, and finally set his big eyes on Peter, “Hello, little one. You should run before they catch you too”.
The voice sounded awfully familiar. Almost like… “Quill?!”
“That is my name, yes. What is yours?”
“Uh, it’s Pe… Eldrin. My name is Eldrin”, he introduced himself with a nod, “Listen, Quill, I have some friends over there, on top of that hill, and we’re here to free you and all the other animals. But we need your help! If I get you out of this cage, can you attack the goblins?”
Quill stared at him, turning his head slightly to the side, “That sounds scary. But I like the thought of being free again! I’ll give it a go, yes!”
Carefully as to not call attention to himself, Peter used his very sharp nail to open the lock on the cage ― something he was certain he’d never done before in his life, not even in his human form. Upon hearing the click, the bear opened the metal door with his head and roared in delight, walking out of the cage. The goblins, finally realizing what was happening, froze in fear as the gigantic bear glared at them. He huffed and roared again, and took off after the goblins, who panicked and desperately tried to get away from the huge beast.
“Ok, let’s get this party started, people!”, Harley said, watching the bear chase the goblins from a distance, before sliding down the small hill towards the mess. Ned and Cassie soon followed, while Michele, emitting a very faint red glow, floated down after them.
There were too many goblins. Even with the bear’s help, it was still a difficult battle. They fought as if they’d been using swords their whole lives, which was weird but still very awesome. The gang killed the goblins that came at them with ease. Apparently, it was much easier, morally speaking, to kill people when you knew they were just illusions created by the God of Mischief. While they fought, Peter continued his work, liberating more and more animals, including a huge goat that Ned was pretty sure was actually a horse in disguise.
“Hey, P… Uh, Eldrin! Tell the goat to hoard the goblins over there, I’ve got an idea!”, Harley shouted at Peter, using his sword to swiftly cut a goblins throat.
Peter did as he was told and very soon the animals were hoarding the remaining goblins into a corner. Harley, taking full advantage of it, put his sword back on its scabbard and turned to where the goblins were. Suddenly, smoke started to come from his nostrils and the rest of the gang watched, astonished, as he opened his mouth and fire came out of it, burning the desperate goblins until they were nothing more but a pile of ashes. Harvey turned around, looking at his friends with absolute pride in his face.
“Did you see that? I BREATH FIRE, you guys!”
The gang looked at him, completely baffled, before whooping and clapping, while Harvey took a bow. However, they were interrupted by an arrow that missed Ned’s head by an inch. Michele immediately turned to the source and raised her hand in said direction. The air around them suddenly became heavy and a smell of what they assumed was sulfur filled their noses. A red ball of light shot from Michele’s hand, hitting the goblin who had just attacked them right on the head. Everyone groaned and turned away as his head exploded in a thousand pieces.
“What? What’s happening?”  Peter asked, changing back to his human form.
“Remember when Danvers was showing us her powers and she aimed a beam at that watermelon?”
“Yes?”
“Yeah, Michele just did that with a goblin!”
“Well, it’s dead now, isn’t it? Jesus, it’s like you guys missed the frog dissecting lessons”.
“Yeah, sure, an exploding goblin head is the same thing as opening up a dead frog. Okay”, Cassie complained, looking very green.
“Well, they’re all dead now, so… Maybe we can leave the forest?”
“Wait… You guys hear that?” Ned asked, shushing his friends and stepping closer to the pathway.
A very loud, mechanical noise was coming from the next clearing. They couldn’t quite see what it was exactly, but they could tell it was big. They exchanged a worried look, thinking back on what Dr. Strange had said about some beast they were suppose to defeat, and started down the pathway, looking apprehensive. Upon reaching the end of the path, they finally saw it. A gigantic machine in the form of a beetle was standing in the middle of the clearing, blocking their way to what appeared to be the edge of the forest. The beetle turned around every so often, smoke coming out of its head, stomping its big foots on the floor.
Peter looked at the others with a grimace. “Well… Have you guys ever heard of this really old tale called ‘Empire Strikes Back’?”

Eyes of a Killer
Chapter 2
Previous / Ao3 / ffn
The crisp morning air flowed gently into Riza’s room through the cracked window, rustling the curtains while carrying the scent from the flowering lilac bush on the hill of the far side of the Hawkeye property. Riza yawned, already tired of the day so far. She had already been up for about an hour or so following her regular morning schedule: feeding the chickens, cleaning out the coop, watering the garden in the back, and making a simple breakfast of eggs and toast for her father and herself. She briefly considered ignoring Roy’s previous protests from last night and make an additional plate for him, but since he had yet to get up, she decided against it.
Riza sighed as she lay down on her bed, breathing in the floral aroma. It reminded her of when she was little and she would play outside while her mother would read beside the flowering bushes. Lilacs were her mother’s favourite flower. It was something about the arrival of early summer that she loved. She always said that because their season of bloom was so short, you had to appreciate them before it was too late. Riza nearly laughed at the irony of it all.
The anniversary of her death was coming up on ten years and now the only things that Riza had left from her mother were the last lilac bush on the hill and the golden earrings that she now wore as her most prized possession. A bitterness crept into her mouth as the memories she had tried to forget were flicking across her mind. Memories are a funny thing, aren’t they? The more she tried to forget the ones that haunted her, the more it seemed that they were the only memories of her mother that stayed, while the ones she wanted to cherish seemed to slowly fade away.
She picked up the book that she had on her side table, trying to distract herself. After a few minutes, she found herself staring at the words yet not processing them. Her mind had successfully wandered elsewhere. More specifically, she was a little more aware of the snoring coming from the room beside her than she cared to admit to herself. The soft rumbling that came through the walls had been annoyingly hard to ignore last night, despite Riza being used to strangers coming and going with all sorts of sleeping habits that had never before bothered her. But now this strangely nice, and not to mention cute, city boy with messy jet black hair had come along, and of course, he had to have a nasal cavity that sounded like a running car.
When Roy had shown up on her doorstep, Riza strangely found herself taken aback. Her father has had many potential apprentices in the past, but none of them have ever been this young. Certainly, none that were around her age, at least. With the sunset behind him, he almost looked like he had walked out of a dream. Almost. The stunned look he had on his face kind of ruined the imagery. Although, even with his frazzled state of obvious nervousness, Riza found herself being charmed by the lingering stare of the eyes that were dark as the night that was rapidly approaching.
Feeling frustrated with herself, she put her book back down on the table. It was obvious that no reading was going to get done. With a huff, Riza grabbed one of her pillows and pulled it tight to her chest.
‘For God’s sake Riza, get a hold of yourself and stop being an idiot... He probably won’t last two weeks here anyways so calm the hell down. So many promising alchemists have come here and not one of them have stayed longer than a few months. How could you possibly even try to expect anything different for him?’
Since she didn’t have anything that needed to be done, and the guest in her home to had no apparent plans of being awake any time soon, Riza decided it wouldn’t hurt to take a quick nap. Before she knew it her eyelids were drooping heavily. And just as she was drifting off, she faintly heard the snoring from the room over suddenly stop with a snort.
As the morning grew on, Roy wasn’t really sure what to do with his Sunday since he didn’t have any real obligations yet. The light was pouring through the blinds, which is what woke him from his deep sleep. He made a mental note that he would have to remember to close them before tomorrow morning if he ever wanted to stay in bed past dawn. Roy laid with his eyes shut, desperately trying to ignore the very bright sun beckoning him to wake.
‘What is it about travel that makes you so tired? It really doesn’t make any sense, I mean you’re just sitting there for hours on end not doing anything extraneous but for whatever reason it’s exhausting…’
He turned over, in an attempt to escape the sun’s taunts, but after a minute or so he sighed, realizing there was no hope in the return of sleep. Shoving his covers off, Roy swung his legs off the bed and slowly stood up. Stretching tall and yawning, the mannerism he displayed was like that of a cat, long and lanky. His eyes settled on his suitcase beside the desk across the room and he groaned. Chris had explicitly told him that he should unpack as soon as he got there. She had said something along the lines of, ‘If you leave your clothes unpacked, not only will you look like a vagabond, but you will have shown that you lack the ambition and dedication to become Hawkeye’s apprentice.’ Remembering her scolding, Roy couldn’t help but smile. His foster mother was dedicated to helping him in any way she could, but that didn’t stop her from giving him the tougher side of love.
After making his bed, he grabbed his suitcase and opened it on his the smoothed out blanket. Everything inside was nicely folded in order to prevent the wrinkles that Chris had warned about. But once he looked everything over, Roy deemed it fine to leave his clothes as is for now after taking his choice of outfit for the day.
Taking the small bag of toiletries he had, he exited his room and crossed the hall to the washroom. He looked back to see that Riza’s door was closed and wondered passively if she was inside. Shaking the thought off, he began to wash his face to rid the lingering feeling of sleep. He looked up in the mirror above the sink and internally groaned after noticing his somehow messier than usual hair. After running his hands under the water, he attempted to tame his dishevelled locks by running his fingers through them while trying to avoid making a mess. He grabbed his comb and somewhat succeeded in getting it reigned-in before giving up, seeing there was little more to gain from the fight.
Returning from the washroom, he couldn’t help but notice the feeling like he didn’t quite belong. The room was so foreign to him with only his suitcase to signify that there was anybody staying in it. He thought to himself, as he got dressed, that maybe he would go explore the town to see if he could find something to make the room seem more like his own. When he passed through the small town yesterday he had seen a market set up for the weekend and decided that would be worth going to see even if he didn’t pick up anything.
Roy considered adding a jacket to his outfit, but after opening the window, he discovered that even in the late morning the Eastern heat was no match to the temperate climate of Central that he was used to. He sighed deeply. There was absolutely no way he would be comfortable in his desired attire. Taking one last moment to gather himself, he made his way into the small town.
Stepping out of the house, Roy could see a few other houses farther down the road. Some were accompanied by farmhouses that were surrounded by land occupied with various attributes. Others stood with only towering trees to border for privacy. His current residence seemed to fall in-between farm and country manor. The house was quite large with less land than most farms in the area, but there was a large coop that was far enough away that Roy hadn’t noticed it when he arrived the night before. The Hawkeye household was neither a short walk or a long trek away from town. The path was just wide enough for either one vehicle, the size of a car or carriage, or two small carts to pass judging by the well-worn tracks packed into the earth. Then again, it was hard to say what constituted as the road considering there was no consistent fencing to indicate where properties ended and the road began.
A soft breeze cooled the early summer sun, making it a much more enjoyable journey. The people here were what really struck Roy. Instead of the averted eyes of those hustling and bustling through the city, he found himself being waved at as if he was an old friend to these strangers he passed.
After some time he found himself in the centre of the town-- if you could really call it that considering its size. Almost any part of the town was close enough to the centre to consider itself apart of it. Shops of all sort were scattered about, both as permanent establishments or in pop-up shops for the weekend market. Roy was surprised to see there were enough people who lived here to make such a crowd. Standing off to the side next to one of the buildings, he admired the atmosphere of this quaint community. The small friendly interactions between everyone who seemed to know each other. He supposed with the population number as it was, it would be hard not to know almost all of your neighbours.
Across the way, there was a fruit stand that was connected to the little flower show next to it. In the window, he could see a stout older lady with little wisps of silver scattered in her dark hair that was pulled back in a neat bun. She wore a slight smile as she was in the middle of arranging a beautiful bouquet with white and pink lilies being the most prominent flowers. Almost like she could feel him watching her, she looked up and spotted him. Roy smiled at her and was about to walk away before she waved at him to come inside. He considered pretending that he had not seen her gesture to be on his way, but considering how well connected this town seemed to be, Roy decided it would be in his best interest to be friendly with the townsfolk. Another factor in his decision to slowly make his way to the steps leading to the door was the very insistent look on her face that made it seem like he didn’t really have a choice in the matter anyway.
Bells chimed as he opened the door. He was greeted by a booming yet joyful voice.
“You must be that Mustang kid right?”
He gave her an odd look. “How do you know me?”
“Word travels fast in a place like this. I heard ol’ Bert was taking on another student but I never thought you’d be this young.” She grabbed him by his arms and looked him up and down very intently before letting him go again with an impossible to read look on her face.
This whole interaction was much more up-close-and-personal than Roy was expecting, not that he was really sure what he was expecting to begin with anyway. With a nervous chuckle, Roy stepped out of her reach.
“Uh, yeah, that’d be me, Ma’am. I didn’t realize it could travel that fast...”
“Shows how little time you’ve spent here. You got a first name to go with that horse?” she asked, crossing her arms.
He crossed one foot awkwardly over the other. “Roy.”
“Roy, huh? Well, honey, you can call me Mrs. Catalina. I run this shop and the fruit stand right outside in the summer with my husband, Buck. I got a daughter about your age as well. Rebecca. In fact, she’s in the same class as Riza. What a sweetheart that girl is.”
Hearing Riza’s name made his stomach wobble but the side of his mouth involuntarily twitched into a small smile. “Yeah, Riza seems really great.”
Mrs. Catalina cocked her eyebrow, “I meant Rebecca.”
“OH,” Roy’s eyes went wide, “I just meant-”
“I know what you meant, hon,” she laughed, making Roy let out a strangely relieved sigh, scratching at the back of his neck. But then Mrs. Catalina stopped and regarded him closely, “I helped Riza out as much as she would let me when her mother passed. This whole town loves her dearly so you would do well to keep that in mind, young man.”
Roy felt his palms start to sweat, he took a step back before he bumped into the door, “I swear I’d never-” His stumbling sentence was cut off with Mrs. Catalina’s laugh.
“Relax, Roy. I’m just giving you a hard time. Mostly.” She was smiling, but her kind eyes still conveyed her seriousness.
He swallowed hard, his mouth felt dry, and he was feeling desperate to change the subject. He silently cursed himself. What was it about this girl that made his mind go completely stupid? Whatever it was, Roy hoped that sometime soon he would be able to act with at least some form of normalcy again.
Mrs. Catalina smirked, knowing that her self-appointed job of intimidating Roy had been completed. “Now, Roy,” she smiled a smile that gave a twinkle to her eyes, resembling rich chocolate, “since that we are all clear about that, I’d like to formally welcome you here. It’s a small town, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, so if you ever need anything and young man I mean anything, you come to me and I’ll help you if I can.”
She placed a hand on his shoulder, in a manner much less aggressive than she had shown previously. Her demeanour was extremely hard to follow and was completely perplexing to Roy. He laughed nervously and thanked her. Before he left, she insisted that he had to take a small potted cactus free of charge as a welcoming gift. She also told him to come around for tea once he got himself settled, an offer that, while he felt that he was obligated to accept, he also was grateful for.
While the town was small enough to go through it in a matter of hours, Roy decided that for today he would stick around the market. He made small talk with the townsfolk that approached him, but mostly kept to himself and observed. Roy was grateful that none of the interactions were as forward as Mrs. Catalina. He wasn’t sure what to make of her quite yet.
Since his goal of the outing had been to find things for the room as he was determined that this would be his newfound home, he eventually found a few things that he liked between shops to accompany his new prickly responsibility. He had picked up a beautifully bound leather notebook along with a set of stationery from a man who apparently lived only a few houses down from the Hawkeyes. At one of the stands, he met an elderly lady who made decadent sweets and convinced Roy to buy a box of assorted candies and chocolates to send back home for his sisters.
Roy found himself at the end of the market, or rather the end for him since he was back to where he had begun that early afternoon. Whatever perspective it was looked at, he was back at the Catalinas’ flower shop and fruit stand. He hadn’t really looked at the establishments before he had been ushered in. Now, after his encounter with Mrs. Catalina, he felt compelled to really look to see what the building could tell him. Like most of the buildings in the town’s centre, it had probably been constructed at least a few generations ago. The white paint was due for some touching up and the sign above the door that read Petals by Catalina had obviously been there for decades as most of the blue lettering was chipped off but it was still legible. It had to be a family business, Roy gathered from the name, whether it was started by Mrs. Catalina herself or if she and her husband had inherited it, he couldn’t tell.
In the window, he saw a girl with long wavy dark hair that was pulled back into a low ponytail. She was adjusting the display sign that had been knocked to an angle. Besides the absent-minded smile of Mrs. Catalina, this girl was the spitting image of her.
‘That must be Mrs. Catalina’s daughter, Rebecca… I wonder how well she knows Riza. It sounded like Mrs. Catalina almost raised her after her mom died. What the hell was Mr. Hawkeye doing then? It couldn’t have been easy but seriously? What could have happened there to make it up to the Catalinas to make sure she was okay?’
He glanced over to the see Mrs. Catalina chatting with who Roy assumed was her husband: a taller, lean man with a bushy moustache barely hiding the smile underneath that matched his short silver hair. Roy glanced at the customers who were looking over the produce and he was surprised to recognize one person in the crowded area, the girl he had just so happened to be thinking about. Her short golden locks nearly glowed with the sunlight hitting at just the right angle as she leaned forward to pick up an apple and inspect it before placing it with the rest of her produce in her basket.
“Riza?”
Slightly startled, she jumped as her head snapped in the direction of his voice with her eyes wide. Upon seeing who the speaker was she couldn’t help but smile.
“Mr. Mustang! What a surprise to see you here.”
“Couldn’t stay away could you, Roy?” Mrs. Catalina joked. Riza looked at her strangely and then back at him.
“How could I? Especially when you have such lovely clientele.” Roy smiled at Riza, who rolled her eyes as her cheeks flushed ever so slightly at his comment.
Mrs. Catalina laughed. “Where is this newfound confidence coming from? Are you sure that you’re the Roy Mustang that I met earlier today?” She shared a look with the man beside her, who had been eyeing Roy up, much like Mrs. Catalina had earlier during his first introduction. The intense gaze almost made Roy lose all of the calmness and regularity that he had built up throughout the day, interacting with everyone like he was just another person who belonged within the crowd.
“To be quite fair, Mrs. Catalina, you do have a talent for intimidation behind that charming beauty of yours,” he replied smoothly, regaining his confidence.
She scoffed as one eyebrow skyrocketed. A snort came from the man beside her as he watched her reaction, which earned him a quick stink eye.
“Ruby, my darling, you have to admit the kid’s got a point there.”
Mrs. Catalina pursed her lips before smiling as she shifted her attention back to Riza who had been silently watching the interaction in front of her as she wore the smallest hint of a smile in the corners of her mouth.
“Now, Riza honey, what else can I get for ya today? We just got our first plums of the season. I set aside a couple for ya already since I know how much you love them.” She reached down behind the stand to grab the pre-bagged fruit and handed it over to Riza as her husband started to help someone else.
“Oh thank you so much, Ruby, you’re really too kind, as always,” she replied while placing the fruit in her basket. “How much do I owe you for everything?” Riza asked, reaching for her wallet.
“500 cenz.”
Riza scowled, or at least as much of a scowl that someone can make while trying not to smile. “Ruby, you really shouldn’t keep giving me things for free.”
Mrs. Catalina crossed her arms. “It’s not free. It’s 500 cenz.”
Riza shook her head as she handed over the money. “You barely charge me anything for how much you send with me, and I appreciate it, but-”
“Then take the discount, darling. You aren’t going to change my mind here.”
Sighing in defeat, Riza put away her wallet. “Thank you, Ruby.”
“You’re welcome Riza.” Mrs. Catalina smiled at her and glanced back to Roy. “Now are you two headed home now or are you still walking around the market?”
Roy and Riza looked to each other for an answer, unsure of what to say. They both hesitated to respond until Riza replied, “Well, I didn’t have anything else to get today unless you still wanted to look around?”
Roy shook his head. “I think I saw everything that I wanted to already, I was about to head back until I saw you here actually.
“Alright then, I guess we’re going make our way back. I’ll stop by later in the week for tea probably. Thanks again!” Riza waved goodbye as they exited the produce stand together. Side by side, they started on the path leading out of town. Roy was watching his feet as they walked together in a comfortable silence for a while before they reached the road that met the edge of the small town. He let his eyes wander so Riza was less in his peripheral and noticed that both the basket and bags she was carrying were fairly full.
“Those look pretty heavy,” he observed. “I can carry some of that for you if you’d like.”
She shook her head, “I’m quite capable of doing it myself thanks.”
Roy couldn’t help but laugh. “I never said you weren’t able. I offered because it just so happens that I have a free hand and now insist on helping you.” He finished with a smile that made the darkness of his eyes seem to sparkle. Roy put out his hand towards her basket, which seemed to be the heavier of her items. Riza eyed him closely while considering his offer, or rather his demand, before shrugging and handing it to him.
She stretched her fingers, before transferring one of her remaining bags to her newly freed hand. “Thank you,” she said looking back at him as she smiled. Maybe being the first smile he had seen from her that wasn’t restrained. Roy felt his stomach turn and his knees wobble. It was the kind of smile that made it impossible not to smile as well.
“It’s nothing really. I’m happy to do it,” he managed to say with an even tone.
Perhaps it was because of the company and small talk to keep his mind busy because the journey back seemed quite a bit shorter than it had been that morning. Before he knew it, they had arrived back at the house. Riza opened the door for the two of them since Roy’s hands were preoccupied with not only the basket but his own purchases from the day as well. He followed her into the kitchen and set everything on the counter next to her bags.
Riza started to take things out of the bags to put them away in their respective places. Roy reached his hand to assist, accidentally brushing his fingers against hers in the process. Her amber eyes instantly flicked up to meet his. Her gaze left as quickly as it had come. Her hand followed suit.
Roy nervously chuckled and ruffled his hair before rubbing the back of his neck out of habit. With his other hand, he gestured towards the groceries. “Do you mind if I lend a hand?”
“Oh, um, sure I guess...” Riza eyed him cautiously before starting to tell him where things belonged.
It didn’t take long with two people working together. Not even enough time to have a conversation. Taking the last bags of produce out from the basket, Roy found there were two books underneath.
“Rimmer’s Collection of Poetry, and…?” Roy held up the second one, a thick leather-bound book that clearly showed signs of heavy use, in a questioning manner to Riza. “What’s this?”
“It’s nothing!” Riza’s face flushed as she snatched it from his hands.
Crossing his arms, Roy cocked an eyebrow. “Quite a reaction for nothing if you ask me.”
With lips pursed she shot him a glare. “It’s a good thing I didn’t ask now, did I?”
Roy held his hands up defensively. “I don’t mean to pry but you have to admit that the way you’re trying to deflect this just makes it sound more interesting.”
“Well, it isn’t, ok?” With a huff, Riza hugged the book close to her chest. Her gaze dropped to the floor as her cheeks flared.
A hard lump formed in Roy’s throat. He cleared his throat and ruffled the back of his hair. “Hey, I was just- I’m sorry… I’ll drop it ok?” He apologized, handing over her book which she hesitantly took back.
Taking a deep breath and sighing, Riza rubbed her arm absently. She glanced over to the counter, something catching her eye. Tilting her head with curiosity, she made a puzzling expression.
“Is that a cactus in your bag?”
Roy looked over to the bag that contained the items he had collected earlier to see that the cactus that Mrs. Catalina had given him was poking out of the top. Grateful that the previous tension shattered thanks to his new plant, he let out a chuckle. “Yeah, it was a ‘welcome to the town’ gift from Mrs. Catalina.”
“Ruby gave you a cactus? Really?” She asked in disbelief as she set the books behind her.
“Um, yeah… She seems very involved.” Roy chose his last word carefully, remembering that Mrs. Catalina had spoken about Riza with a very familiar regard. He wasn’t with the outright intention to be nosey, but he couldn’t deny that he was left with more than a few questions about her past.
Riza let out a snort. “That's one way of saying it. Ruby runs this town. She knows everyone and everything that happens around here.”
“Oh yes, she made that pretty clear,” Roy chuckled. “From what I can tell, it’s a very tight-knit community. It’s quite a bit of an adjustment from what I’m used to honestly.”
“You came in from Central City right?” She asked as she leaned back on the counter, crossing her arms over her chest.
Roy smiled at the thought of home. “Yeah, I did!”
“What’s it like? I’ve never really even been out too far from here, much less been to any of the big cities.” Riza’s golden warm eyes were filled with dream-like wonder and curiosity.
“Really? You have to go sometime. I mean, okay, there are good and bad things about anywhere, but I do really love living in the city. There’s always something going on or something to do. But then again, it’s quite refreshing that everyone is so friendly and personable here. Most people in the city just live in their own head rather than taking the second to acknowledge a stranger. Unless you know them, nobody is really going to stop you for a conversation on the street.”
She looked out of the window above the sink and sighed, “Someday I’ll get out in the world.”
Roy studied her face closely. Her look of determination and yearning completely mesmerized him. There was so much more about Riza Hawkeye that he didn’t know but couldn’t wait to find out. “You will, you’re just getting started and you have your whole life ahead of you.”
Riza glanced at him with an eyebrow raised and a smile “I hope you’re right Mr. Mustang, I really do.”
They shared a moment of wistful silence, dreaming of their own possibilities in life. Riza sighed, gathering up her books from behind her. “Well, it’s not going to happen anytime soon, that’s for sure. I’m going to put these upstairs now. You’re welcome to take a look at any of the books in the study or, I mean, really whatever you were going to do, I guess.”
“Oh, I think I’ll head up there myself. Get some reading done probably.”
Roy grabbed his bag from the counter and followed her up the stairs. She dipped into her room to put away her books while Roy headed to his. He took out the cactus from the bag and put it on his windowsill. As he was setting up his desk with his newly purchased stationary and such, Riza popped her head in his doorframe.
“I’m going to start making dinner now. Would you like to eat up here or in the dining room?”
“Dining room I suppose, do you want an extra set of hands?” He tried to make the offer seem casual but he couldn’t help but take the opportunity to try and spend more time with his teacher’s daughter.
Riza looked a little surprised at his offer and shook her head. “Thank you, but no. I’ll come to fetch you when it’s ready. And besides, you should probably unpack,” she remarked, looking at his suitcase that showed evidence that he had rummaged through it that morning. “You don’t want all your clothes getting wrinkled if they aren’t already.”
She disappeared downstairs without another word, leaving Roy alone to unpack and his mind to wander.
Roy had quickly finished unpacking and decided he might as well get some studying in before his lessons started on Monday, although with the aromas of whatever was being cooked downstairs being wafted through the house, focusing on his reading became slightly difficult. A little over an hour had passed and through the window, Roy could see the early stages of night begin to fall. He switched on the lamp on his bedside table and not long after, a light knock on the doorframe stopped Roy mid-sentence in his book.
“Mr. Mustang, dinner is ready downstairs,” Riza stood in the doorway before turning to leave.
“Roy,” he interjected as he got up from the bed, putting his open book upside down to save his place. She turned to face him again looking slightly puzzled. “Like you said yesterday, I’ll be staying here as long as I can. You don’t have to be so formal with me.”
She paused before she replied and the smallest smirk crept onto her face as she eyed him cautiously. “I hope your skills back up that newly found confidence of yours, otherwise you’ll be out in less than a week, Roy.”
His name on her tongue made Roy’s stomach lurch, even after he specifically asked for it. Trying to have a cool composure in his reply, he ran his fingers through his messy black hair while making an exaggerated sarcastic gasp. “Ahh, you wound me Riza,” he said as he dramatically brought a hand to his chest above his heart. “I never would have pegged such a sweet girl like yourself to have a hidden mean side. You could have really hurt my feelings there.”
“Oh, please. I have a feeling you have a big enough ego to handle it. “She folded her arms and leaned against the doorframe with the slightest smirk on her face. “As a matter of fact, I’m guessing you’ve never had the kind of mockery you need in order to keep it in check. So really I think I’d be doing you a favour if I continued.”
“Is that so?” Roy laughed. She was absolutely right of course. While Chris was a mostly strict foster mother and she always had him hard at work, she adored him completely and was the one who encouraged him in everything he did. It was not out of the ordinary for her to spoil him just a little bit, not enough to make him into a little brat who thought he deserved the world ought to be handed to him, but just enough that to put it quite simply, Roy was a mama's boy through and through.“So, what else about me do you think you have learned about me since I got here?”
Riza eyed him with a knowing look like he was missing something obvious. “Now why would I give information away that easily? Is equivalent exchange not the philosophy of alchemists? I may not be an alchemist myself, but growing up around one it was kind of hard not to get some of those ideologies engraved in my mind.”
What little composure Roy had evaporated as he started to sputter on his words. “First of all,” he paused to collect his thoughts, “equivalent exchange is not a philosophy,” he spat the word out with disgust, “it’s a scientific law. I- it’s fact! It’s not a belief or way of thinking.”
Riza tilted her head with an eyebrow raised. “I was under the impression that a philosophy was a study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, is it not?” She did not wait for an answer and continued. “Law or philosophy, it doesn’t matter what you call it, but you have to acknowledge that equivalent exchange isn’t just about alchemy, it can be applied to just about everything. Surely you must know that by this point in your life.”
Roy crossed his arms over his chest as he stumbled on a feeble attempt to respond. She smirked, knowing she had won and simply said, “Checkmate.”
He gave her a questioning look, not fully understanding the reference.
“You’ve never played chess before? Seriously?”
“What can I say? I’m not a geek like you apparently,” he replied with snark, getting a little frustrated with her condescending tone and her constant one-upping.
Riza couldn’t help but laugh, “I beg to differ, Roy. Your studies clearly prove otherwise, and besides, chess is all about strategy and using your brain. A concept which seems to be something you could stand to do a little more of if you hope to accomplish anything here at all.”
“Are you always this rude to those unfortunate enough to come through here?” Roy quipped.
She shrugged. “No, but to be quite fair, most of my father's students have been older than you and very few have paid much attention to anything besides their studies.”
“What makes you think I’m not focused on my studies? I just got here today and if you hadn’t noticed, I was studying before you came up here.” He vaguely gestured to the book he set down next to some papers he had scattered around his bed. “And my age? How should that factor into this? You’re what? Fifteen?”
“Sixteen, almost seventeen,” Riza replied cooley. “And I never said you weren’t studious. I wasn’t even talking about you then if you had been listening,” she sighed and Roy saw her cheeks flush ever so slightly. “I was just saying that not a lot of the people who have come through here have said much to, me much less tried to have a real conversation.”
Roy stood there silently, not knowing how to respond. Riza brushed her bangs back, tucking some stray hairs behind her ear. “Anyways, the food is probably getting cold downstairs.” She quickly left the room, Roy heard her fast footsteps going down the stairs.
‘Jeez, this girl does not seem like she’s had much attention paid to her in her life. Who the hell has been neglecting her to the point to make her so surprised that someone would take a few minutes to talk to her? It’s not like we’ve even talked that much at all and she’s acting like I’m going out of my way to be nice to her. Well… I mean I haven’t really. I may have intended to when I offered to help her out in the kitchen, but still, that could have just been a polite gesture… Maybe I’m just reading too much into this.’
Roy waited a minute after she left before following her lead downstairs and into the dining room that had a medium-sized table that was set for two. Riza came back from the kitchen, bringing out a steaming quiche with a serving already taken from it, she looked up at him as he entered the room and placed the pie on the table.
“It smells amazing in here. Did you really cook everything by yourself?” Roy asked, grabbing the nearest seat that had a place setting made up.
“Yeah, I’ve been helping in the kitchen for as long as I can remember,” she smiled as she sat down, looking lost in her thoughts. “Well, helping is a generous word for when I was really young. My mom loved cooking and she was always patient with teaching me everything she could. Even after all that, I’m nowhere near as good as she was. I pretty much do all the cooking now.”
Roy studied her closely, the genuine emotion that was displayed freely on her face was unlike how she had seemed earlier, hard and very guarded. He felt like he had stumbled upon something rare and incredibly sacred and pure: the way her shoulders had relaxed and even the subtle change in how she was breathing. It was more of the soft nature that Roy had first expected of her.
“Well, not that I’m really in the position to compare but I think she obviously did a great job in teaching you. You’re selling yourself short here Riza.”
His comment brought her attention back to him. She looked at him as though before he spoke she had forgotten he was even there. She shook her head and laughed. “You can’t comment on my cooking until you’ve actually had it. How can you tell it’s good if you haven’t even tried it yet?”
“You make a fair point, but it’s only a valid one for a few more seconds,” Roy chuckled as he took a bite and let the flavours take over his mouth. “Oh my god, Riza,” he exclaimed as he leaned back in his chair. “Are you kidding me? This is amazing!”
She rolled her eyes, “I don’t think it’s too late to train in theatre since you’re clearly proficient in being dramatic.”
“I’m being serious here. I’ve never had anything like this before I mean, I’ve grown up eating bar food, which, while delicious, is nothing like this. This has about a dozen flavours going on and isn’t filled with grease? It’s incredible!” He said with a beaming grin spread across his face before he continued to stuff his face.
Riza blushed and muttered a thank you before she started her meal as well.
They kept the conversation light, not delving into anything in particular until they had both finished eating and the rest of the pie remained on table cold. The darkness of night had crept up to them and without the overhead light in the dining room, it would have been pitch black.
Riza glanced at the clock behind her and was surprised to see that it was already twenty after midnight. “I really should clean this all up and get to bed, it’s getting really late.” She stood up and as she went to reach for the dishes Roy stopped her.
“Riza, I have to insist on helping you clean up. It’s really not fair that you cooked everything and you’re trying to stop me from cleaning? I could bring up the topic of equivalent exchange again in order to convince you, but that’s a bit useless since you can’t stop me from helping anyways.” Roy crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow with a very matter of fact look on his face.
Risa pursed her lips to give the impression of being annoyed but it was obvious it was only in order to stop herself from smiling. “Okay, fine. You win this round, Roy.”
He fake scoffed. “This round? It seems to me that I’ve won more than just the one today.” Roy crossed his arms as if it were to affirm his point.
Riza lightly shook her head as she rolled her eyes, lips pursed but with the hint of a smile showing, “God, you are impossible, you know that right?”
“You wouldn’t be the first to say something along those lines.” Roy smiled as he stood up and gathered up both of their dishes as Riza grabbed the pie and led him to the kitchen. He pushed up his sleeves and started to run the sink. Having two sets of hands made the whole process go by pretty quickly and soon enough they were done. The pair made their way upstairs, chatting quietly until they reached Riza’s door which she opened slightly and stood in front of, facing Roy.
“Well, I guess this is goodnight,” Roy said as he leaned against the doorframe with a half smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
“Yes, I guess it would be. Goodnight Roy.” Riza said with a smile and stepped into her room.
“Goodnight Riza,” Roy replied as she closed her door behind her.
Roy let out a soft sigh as he smiled to himself and headed to his own room and let himself fall into his bed. Reflecting on his day he felt at ease. That was until he remembered what tomorrow would bring. The mysterious Berthold Hawkeye. He decided that it wasn’t worth worrying about, considering that this was the whole reason he had come here. But still, Roy couldn’t get the knots in his stomach to untie and spent most of the night tossing and turning until finally, his body surrendered itself to sleep.

[Part 1] Yess Garou dragging Badd just like that! OMG is that your drawing, Iris?? That's very accurate I'M-- 😂😂 And when he was presented to Bang he's really not fighting Garou back. He just. Accepting his (doomed) fate 😆 At least Garou wont tell Bang that he was piggybacked by Garou throughout their journey toward his dojo. How was Badd supposed to do with those THOUSANDS of stairs?? Luckily, Garou offered to carry him up! B: "No bridal carry, tho!" 😠, G: "Aaw Badd whyy.." 😢💔
[Part 2] Imagine Badd buried his face on Garou's back while he clung onto Garou's shoulders, blushing brightly because he was so close with his dearly senior. Basically he's brought to Garou's parent as soon-to-be-bf (?? he secretly wished!) and Garou was kinda sweet to him all the time. Badd was melting! On the other hand, Garou was ON CLOUD NINE!! 😚💕💕 HIS JUNIOR IS LIKE A KITTEN CLINGING ON HIS BACK, SO SMOL SO CUTE! MUST ASK HIM OUT AFTER THIS, ALSO TELL BANG THAT BADD IS HIS SON-IN-LAW 😤
[Part 3] Move onto the Hanahaki AU, the idea of Garou has a special place in Badd's heart forever is so sweet. Noone can replace his love for Garou 😭💕 The way they reunited again in the ending made me think of the Yuri on Ice OST "Stammi Vicino, Non te ne Andare - Duetto", where the singer asked the lover to stay with him forever, then they running off to endless journey of happiness in eternity together. It's very soft, really fits for Garou&Badd :") (you can googling the song translation).
[Part 4] At least you've got bittersweet Batarou dream, I got gorey villain!Batarou nightmare 😂 With they dancing tango together on heroes' bloodpool under the moonlight, corpses scattered everywhere, they're smiling like maniacs the happily laughing with eachother. I woke up like, "WTH WAS THAT?? THAT'S SO MESSED UP--" *proceed to write it down and sent it to Cain immediately*. Then Eir turned my silly dark twisted dream hc into more beautiful poetic story, I'm in awe she's amazing 👏😳✨
[Part 5] FireMirage!Garou was like Badd's guardian, right? Always watching him from afar and make sure he's alright 😭 Lmao I can't imagine Gaman would do that, he's a softie kid. Maybe he'd plucking all of Garou's flower off and grumbling like, "who was this person that stealing my dad's heart away and makes him stupidly stubborn like this?". Garou just, *shaking his head + facepalm* 😂 Let's pray together for our late family members and also everyone who were fallen because of covid.. 🙏❤
Hell yEAH that's my drawing!!! 😂😂😂
Also, here, I drew that bit cause some of my assignments had me use some of my drawings to be used as reference for our studies

I'm sorry I just couldn't get their skintone right (╥_╥)
Look at how ugly and messy it is jfc—
And I'm listening to that song rn and oh. I'm very much sweating from my eyes ╯﹏╰
yoooooo I would KILL for a gorey batarou nightmare.... Wait I think I had one, and I gave it to Cain too! I can't remember what though. And YES Eir is like our fairy godmother where whatever a hc or an au happens to cross her path she just Bibbidi Bobbidi's it into a beautiful storyline like 💓❤💗💓💓
Ah yes. Garou's his guardian spirit, and here's a little add-on. One day when Badd was away for a bit because of missions, someone wanted to break into his house and steal some crap because: Obsessed Fanatic. Anyway, as soon as the person steps into the yard, Garou manifests and scares the crap out of them, and Badd comes home to an unconscious person in his gravel pathway and just... Groans and swats a little at the bush when he was dragging the person off onto the sidewalk. The wind carries a small laugh and they both end up laughing together like some dumbasses.
And I think Gaman would be plucking the flowers while Garou just watches behind him, arms crossed and all and just shakes his head disapprovingly 😂😂😂
Also! The flower is the Chempaka, because of the old folktale of the Pontianak/Kuntilanak loving those flowers and often lingering among them. Frangipani, if you will. And also because of their colours because like. Look.
