"Have you got any bright ideas?" she questions.
"I'm thinking, I'm thinking..." he's rambling, the eyes focused on the crowd circling them.
"You better think of something fast, because if he turns me into a mummy, you're the first one I'm coming after." Karen declared with her voice trembling, she turned her head to look at Frank for what it could be her last time ever looking at him.
Karen Page, a librarian and aspiring Egyptologist, and Foggy Nelson, her best friend and an excellent lawyer, usually have drinks together in one of the best — according to Foggy himself — bars in town: Josie's Place. On a friday night, the two friends found themselves in the middle of a bar fight and after hiding behind one the tables, Karen is quick to realize an intricate box fell from the pocket of one of the fighters and takes it for herself before even thinking twice.
She only got a glimpse of his face, yet she remembers him too well.
When she finds the map of Hamunaptra inside the box, Karen convinces Foggy to go along with her to find the mysterious man. They find ex-military Frank Castle in a local prison and Karen makes a deal with him to lead them to the City of the Dead if she gets him released, he agrees.
It wasn't in Frank's plan go back to Hamunaptra, although a certain blonde Egyptologist makes it hard to not go back to the place he once served alongside The French Foreign Legion. So when Karen accidentally wakes up a 3000 year old mummy who begins to wreak havoc in searching for the reincarnation of his long-lost love, Frank's got no other choice than to stop the terror and save Karen in the process.

“You’re a New Yorker. You’re a hero,” Franks murmurs, squeezing her hand. “Proud of you ma’am.”
The final chapter of Castle’s Auto Shop is up on AO3 💛😭😃 I had so much fun writing this version of Karen and Frank. Thanks to those who stuck with it even with my horrible posting schedule. Life has been a little crazy, but I love coming back to these characters to tell their story. Hope you all enjoy!

You Were A Fistfight a Kastle zombie apocalypse au start from the beginning | chapter twelve
“You don’t like me much, do you?”
She tosses her loot into her backpack and shoulders it, trying for apathy. She really wants this issue dropped, especially since Frank is nowhere in sight. But try as she might, she can’t completely lie. “You’re Frank’s and Curtis’ friend. I trust them. I just…don’t really know you enough to have an opinion of my own yet.”
“And yet,” he says lightly, “you do.”
For a moment, they simply watch one another. Then, he breaks out into a chuckle. “Hey—I’m kidding. Really. I get it. I’m new, I’ve known Frank longer—“
“That has nothing to do with it—“
“So something does?” His eyes glitter, smirk widening. “What is it?”

Frank Castle lost his family long before Day One, so the loneliness stayed even after the apocalypse happened.
Living in his farm upstate New York, he realized quite a few tried to get near the farm. The ones who came close, messed up on their own and got caught by the creatures, but other than him, no living thing was inside the fences.
Although his mind often wanders about the people he loves, David might had made it and he hopes Sarah and the kids did it too, Curtis' location was unknown — he doesn't even know if his best friend was alive —, Frank is conscious that he's in fact alone.
As the days go by, he can't grasp reality the way others did before the creatures came. Living in the constant silence he had learned how to be with his own thoughts, how live with his demons, how to silence all of them.
Until she appeared.
Alone, with her head bleading, a knife in one hand, an old radio in the other one and a single note pressed in front of her t-shirt:
"I know how to end them"
Suddenly, all of his silence is overcome by the presence of a fierce woman named Karen Page.
In other words, Kastle in "A Quiet Place" scenario

Break (Bookstore AU)
The quiet.
The shift in energy hits Karen the moment she enters the bookstore. All the chatter of Hell’s Kitchen – the hum of voices, the roar if traffic, the pings and digs of cell phones – seem to fade away. Almost as if she’s been transported to another world.
Like Alice stepping through the looking glass.
She makes her way down the stairs, eyes tracing the rows of wooden shelves filled with tattered paperbacks. Foggy called Castle’s Used Books dreary, but she loves it instantly. Rows upon rows of faded paperbacks. The smell of paper. The focused energy. The place reminds her of the old bookstore across from the Student Union at Georgetown.
Making it to the bottom step, Karen grins. The sign by the unmanned checkout desk is the real reason Foggy poopoos this place.
Silence your cell phone or get the hell out.
The infamous sign.
Foggy told her about it.
“I was minding my own business. Just waiting for Marci to find some Daniel Steel novel. I pull out my phone to check my email for like one second. One second. The minute my phone pings, the owner was on me. He appeared out of nowhere, towering over me. Scowling. Eyes glinting like some psycho murder. Told me to try reading something other than Instagram reel on my phone.”
Karen chuckles to herself. Poor Foggy. He doesn’t know how to disconnect.
Glancing up, she studies the chalkboard signs at the beginning of each aisle. Poetry. That’s the section she’s been tasked to find. Specifically, The Hollow Men by T. S. Elliot. Ellison’s birthday gift from the staff. The newspaper editorial is a huge fan of the poet’s work, and this is the one piece not stuffed in the massive bookshelf behind his desk.
This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Karen remembers reading the poem in college. It’s a little dark for her tastes, but if the man who plays gatekeeper to her name being published in the next edition loves it…
It takes fifteen minutes of wandering through the store, but Karen finally finds the poetry section by the back wall. Of course, T.S. Eliot is located all the way at the very top of corner of it all. She glanced warily at the step stool sitting at the very end of the aisle. It’s not quite tall enough for her to reach her target and the heels she’s wearing won’t make things any easier.
Sighing, Karen grabs the stool and leans up against the bookshelf. She climbs on top, standing on her tip toes, craning her neck to scan the titles.
Hollow Men, Hollow Men, come on Hollow M –
“Ma’am?” A gravelly voice – the first she’s heard since entering the store - echoes behind her.
“Shit!”
In an instant, Karen’s wobbling on the stool. Then she’s teetering on the edge. Then –
Someone’s holding her steady. A firm hand on her forearm.
“Hey. Hey. Be careful now.”
Karen looks down…to find a pair of coffee-colored eyes staring up at her. Suddenly she knows who this is…and Foggy was wrong.
Frank Castle doesn’t have eyes like a psycho murder. His eyes are…Karen can’t put her finger on it, but there’s a story in those eyes. A story so compelling she can’t break her gaze.

Mermaid Marin AU
Tumblr media
I really enjoyed the world that I created for this story. Our main character is Marin, the Seventh and Youngest Daughter of Abyss, King of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and father of her and her six Older Sisters, Cathy, Anna, Jen, Summer, Dextra, and Kari. Marin has a pet Octopus, Nash, who she treats as a Younger brother, and her Three Cousins of the Three other Underwater Kingdoms are Dumon of the South Atlantic ocean, Vector of the North Pacific Ocean and Mizar of the South Pacific. Marin and her six sisters possesse the ability to from a mermaid into a human. On land is Duchess Tori Meadows, who went on a galleon for her birthday. The galleon sinks on that fateful night, but the Duchess washes up on shore, completely unharmed. She is found by her father. Having saved the Duchess and slept by her side and sung a song so beautiful until her father found her, Marin can’t bring herself to forget the human girl. Her heart is pulled back towards the shore, where a journey of pain, love and misery awaits her as she realises she is the prophcised Siren queen.

Roughly a year ago I started writing a Frank/Karen fic inspired by this Christmas song I'm obsessed with. And now, here it is! Hopefully this'll find the right audience-- I'm not exactly mutuals with many Kastle fans, alas. But if you want to be tagged in the next few chapters, let me know!! First lines under the cut!
Dinah Madani had known Karen Page for almost a year at this point. She’d met the journalist when she’d started investigating a case Homeland Security had been trying to keep under wraps. Despite the trouble she was causing, Dinah had admired the woman’s stubbornness and her fierce attitude even then.
She didn’t really have friends— she couldn’t really afford them, in this job. The only exception was Sam Stein, and since they worked together, she couldn’t exactly ghost him. Karen quickly proved herself to be another exception to the rule. For whatever reason, the blonde journalist seemed to like her. So, without really knowing how it happened, Dinah found herself occasionally going for coffee or dinner with Karen.
Throughout their friendship, mentions of Karen’s husband had popped up. From what Dinah had gleaned, Frank was a man a little older than her friend, with a wry sense of humor. He worked at an animal shelter, and was one of the few men left in the world who didn’t seem to know or care that chivalry was dead. And, of course, he loved Karen. Dinah could tell, from the happy flush that crossed Karen’s cheeks whenever she got a text from him, and the lighthearted tone she used when she talked about him.
So when Karen suggested one frigid day in December that they meet up for coffee, and that Frank would be there, Dinah accepted. More out of curiosity than anything else. Which was the same reason Sam insisted on coming with her.
