no matter what happens as a result of dax's misreading of the danger here and no matter how jokey she sounded asking that final question all i can say is that the right decision was made. what if it was smart fungus? what if, huh? what if it was a fungus civilization? what if it was a fungus that could cause changes on the quantum level? what if it was fungus that could decompose irradiated material? what if the fungus could withstand extreme pressure and was rooted deep deep deep beneath the planet's surface? what if it was pretty pretty colors? what if the fungal colonies could still detect the experience of a separated-growth, snipped off, and they tossed that separated-growth into a black hole and monitored the main colony and they figured that shit out? what if it was smart fungus? what if it was stupid fungus and now they just know about another species of fungus? point is. you gotta.

Death Note Quotes Pt. 2
"In this world, there are very few people who actually trust each other."
- Light Yagami
“No, I can’t laugh yet. I’ve got to hold it in. They’re all gonna die, 40 seconds after he wrote down their names. Thirty five seconds… I’ll claim my victory then!”
- Light Yagami
"L, do you know gods of death love apples?"
- Light Yagami
“I’ve gotten rid of everything in my way. I am the god of the new world.”
- Light Yagami
“My dad? You mean Soichiro Yagami. That’s right Matsuda. In this world, all those earnest people like him who fight for justice, they always lose. You want a world where people like that are made to be fools?! I know you understand, so kill the others! Shoot them!”
- Light Yagami
"In the end, L is indeed the greatest detective on earth..."
- Light Yagami
“That’s right… I am Kira. And what can you do? Kill me right here? Hear this. I’m not only Kira. But I’m also… God of the new world! Kira has become law in the world we now live. He’s the one who’s maintaining order. I have become Justice. The only hope for mankind. Kill me? Is that really the right thing to do? Since Kiras appearance six years ago, wars have stopped and global crime rates have been reduced by over 70%. But, it’s not enough. This world is still rotten! With too many rotten people. Somebody has to do this! When I first got that notebook all those years ago, I knew I had to do it. No, I was the only one who could. I understood killing people was a crime. There was no other way! The world had to be fixed! A purpose given to me! Only I could do it. Who else could have done it?! And come this far?! Would they have kept going?! The only one… who can create a new world… is me.”
- Light Yagami
“Irrespective of how gifted you are, you cannot change the world alone.”
- L
"This is an outrage... taking advantage of this situation! I assure you, I will get to the bottom of this!"
- L
"I don't sit like this because I want to. I have to sit like this. If I were to sit normally, my deductive skills will immediately be reduced by roughly 40%."
- L
“Tell me Light, from the moment you were born, has there ever been a point where you’ve actually told the truth?”
- L
“It will be lonely won’t it? You and I will be parting ways soon.”
- L
“I hear the bell.”
- L
“Humans who use the notebook are cursed with fear, pain, and misery. Hm. Of course, Soichiro didn’t use the notebook. He got to die believing that his son wasn’t Kira. I guess that means… he was happy.”
- Ryuk
“Humans are so interesting. Of course, you can use money to get apples so I understand.”
- Ryuk
“What is right from wrong? What is good from evil? Nobody can truly distinguish between them. Even if there was a god. Now, supposing a god and his world existed, even then I’d stop and think for myself. I’d decide for myself whether his teachings are right or wrong. After all, I am just the same as you. I put faith in my own convictions as to what I believe is right, and consider them to be righteous.”
- Near
“If you can’t win the game, if you can’t solve the puzzle… then you’re just a loser.”
- Near
“Didn’t I already tell you all that nobody was going to die?”
- Near
“I bet Mello knew in his heart, that working by ourselves, neither of us would be able to obtain our goal, and surpass our mentor, L. But together… Together we can stand with L. Together we can surpass L! And now, acting as one, we face the Kira who defeated L, and with solid evidence, beat him at his own game! Let’s see you try to talk your way out of this one… if you can.”
- Near
“No. You’re just a murderer Light Yagami. And this notebook is the deadliest weapon of mass murder in the history of mankind. You yielded to the power of the Shinigami and the notebook. And you have confused yourself with a god. In the end, you’re nothing more than a crazy serial killer. That’s all you are. Nothing more. And nothing less.”
- Near
“It’s time I started living my own life.”
- Mello
“In the end, there is no greater motivation than revenge.”
- Mello
“What was it all for then?! What about your dad?! What the hell did he die for?!”
- Matsuda Touta
“You lead your own father to his death. And now he’s gone, you call him a fool? I’ll kill him! He has to die!”
- Matsuda Touta
“Laws aren’t perfect, because humans who created laws aren’t perfect. It’s impossible to be perfect. However, the laws are evidence of the human’s struggle to be righteous.”
- Soichirou Yagami

What was Khide's previous relationship?
I'm gonna preface this by saying Khide isn't my Jedi Knight! He belongs to @doctortentacles, whom I played through both Seran and Myrus' runs alongside their Xisath and Khide respectively. BUT! I can answer this all the same. >:3c
It was Kira Carsen. And the reason they broke up was complicated.
While he eventually grew into a helpful, kind, light side Jedi Knight who always opted for the path of peace, Khide started out reckless and angry and wanting to fight the evils of the galaxy more than he wanted to "save" it. He took a lot of dark side choices for the sake of getting to the bad guy quickly, leaving innocents to fend for themselves. And along the way, he and Kira became fast friends complaining about the "old ways" and how slow the Council was to change or act. That friendship turned into flirting, which turned into a romance--Council or Jedi code be damned.
After Khide went to stop the Emperor and became possessed, he blamed himself for being weak and his previous rash and cruel choices for opening his heart up to Vitiate's influence. Even though he escaped--and even though the idea hadn't been his in the first place--he never really shook the feeling of guilt.
That guilt soured his and Kira's romance very, very quickly, and he began to pull away from her immediately. When she finally brought up the Council's invasive behavior towards Jedi dating, and if he was willing to try to continue their relationship...Khide said no. Whether or not he could have continued to make it work, and whether or not he could love her selflessly, he was too afraid of any sort of temptation after Vitiate's control. And to him, a relationship of any sort was one such temptation.
Still, it hurt him to break Kira's heart.
The two would eventually become friends again. Granted it took five years in carbonite and several more at war, but eventually is still good!
...when he met Lana and pretty much fell for her at first sight, that guilt reared it's ugly head again--paired with the new one of him falling in love again after how he handled Kira--so the romance didn't even really kick off until KOTFE. But by then everything had gone to hell, and he had found a much healthier way of thinking.
He's still very much light side, but he loves his Sith wife.
(Kira has definitely joked that she "just wasn't Sith enough for him" to twist the knife a little, but she means it in good humor.)

I realised recently that I never actually collated all the ideas I had about my Zutara kids so here, have some steambabies! Idk I just really like the idea of Katara and Zuko having a big family after all they’ve lost when they were young, and as an only child, I guess I kind of romanticise the idea of having siblings.
TW: I hc that Katara would have had a miscarriage, so if that is a trigger for you then maybe don’t read on.
Shameless plug but if you wanna read more about this, my series on AO3 is roots and wings.
Their firstborn is a boy who they name Kai after Kya. His full name is Kaito but nobody who knows him ever calls him that, not even when he’s in trouble. I’m not going to go into too much context about like the pregnancy bc you can already find that stuff here. He turns out very much like Zuko physically - tall, golden irises, straight black hair, narrow angular face - but he has mixed tawny skin and his eyes are shaped round and wide like Katara. He’s born on the last day of summer in 109 AG, so because of superstition that firebenders are born in peak summer, there’s some uncertainty about what he’ll bend - if at all - but then when he’s three and a half, he makes a flame. Iroh trains him to firebend until he’s about 16, then he goes off to the Sun Warriors for a year to finish off, and he ends up a very spiritual firebender. Kai is like the dream first child - the softest boy ever to live - and when Katara and Zuko go on to have more children, he’s a really great big brother, like wholeheartedly adores his little sibs even if they drive him completely nuts about 95% of the time. He’s quite a conflicted and confused kid growing up. He’s never quite sure of what he wants in life but finally, when he’s 17, he decides that he realises that he doesn’t want to be Fire Lord and passes along the heir status to his sister. After that he joins the Sun Warriors and eventually marries the chief’s daughter, Himari, and they have two firebender girls, Aiko and Sol.
Izumi arrives not long after her brother in 110 AG. Katara and Zuko planned to wait but it ends up that there’s barely a year between Kai and Izumi and it comes as an extra shock as Katara didn’t figure out she was pregnant again till like 18 weeks in. Katara goes into labour early at 35 weeks and Izumi is born really small - she never completely catches up either and it’s hilarious because after successive generations of tall male Fire Lords, they get Izumi who’s barely 5 feet - but she’s otherwise fine. She’s physically a mish-mash so overall she resembles nobody especially - Katara’s hair, complexion and big round eyes, Zuko’s irises, Azula’s heart-shaped face and highly arched brow line, Hakoda’s facial features. The superstition about summer births for firebenders peters out real quick when Izumi, born in the autumn, bends blue fire at two and a half and, taught by Jeong Jeong, she grows into a prodigal master. When she’s young, Izumi is the polar opposite of her brother - feisty, stubborn, determined and whip smart - and she’s a heathen teenager but by about 15 she mellows and matures, and part of Kai’s reasoning for abdicating is that Izumi seems a better fit for Fire Lord. Izumi was always kinda apathetic to kids but at 19, she accidentally gets pregnant and has her son, Kazuo, then her daughter, Kira, eleven years later. Izumi becomes Fire Lord at 37 but she only rules for about 14 years before retiring. Since she had Kaz so young, if she stayed on the throne much longer, Kaz would also be an older man when it came time for him to inherit, so she decides to step aside and Kaz is coronated just after his 33rd birthday.
(Kazuo takes after his Gran Gran in more ways than just his blue eyes; he’s a waterbender so Kaz is the first waterbender Fire Lord)
After a break, Katara and Zuko decide to try for a third addition and Katara gives birth - in the Southern Water Tribe, for the first time - to Bashira, four years after Izumi. Shira looks probably the most like Zuko out of all the children, even more than her elder brother does. They share the same tall and lean physique, the same long black hair, Shira is mixed but still the palest of all the steambabies and their faces are practically identical. They’re characteristically very similar, too - serious, intense and reserved. The only differences is that her hair is curly, her eyes are blue and finally, Katara gets her waterbending child. Both of them suspected that Shira was going to be a waterbender even at the early stages of the pregnancy, but it’s still super exciting when Shira tosses a wave at her elder siblings when she’s two. Katara is teaching her as soon as she possibly can but over time some tension develops between them when Shira turns out to be quite different from her mom in terms of natural bending style. Shira is very fight-oriented, she learns dao swords from Zuko and never shows as much of an interest in the healing arts, but when things blow up and eventually Shira is able to explain that she wants to be able fight like her mom did during the war, things straighten out and Katara guides Shira all the way through to mastery. She eventually moves to the South in her late teens to lead the tribe’s warriors. There, she has three children - waterbender twins Kenzo and Kenji, then a daughter named Kanna who’s a firebender like Grandpa - but the marriage to their father doesn’t last and in her 50s, she ends up in a relationship with Aang and Toph’s daughter, Lin.
Katara gets pregnant for a fourth time - planned - just after Shira turns two, but this time she has a miscarriage. Zuko was overseas when it happened so she went through it alone. Katara is devastated and resents Zuko for not being there. She knows it’s not his fault but she can’t help her emotions and that makes her feel even worse so she just shuts down - stops doing her Fire Lady work, stops spending any more time with Zuko and their children than necessary, won’t let the rest of the family visit them and spends most of the day lying in bed. Zuko doesn’t know how to help her so initially he decides to give her space to grieve however she feels she needs to, but it just deteriorates until one day Zuko suggests that maybe they should both go to therapy or marriage counselling or something because it can’t go on like this. Katara just completely loses it at that and ends up yelling at him all the things that she’d been bottling up over the last couple of months. Katara says some awful things and she’s expecting Zuko to take it poorly, hence why she kept it all inside up till now, but Zuko just accepts every bit of it and after that, she’s finally able to grieve properly and mend.
About six months after they come back together, they decide to try again and Katara eventually falls pregnant. The pregnancy itself goes smoothly but both of them are so stressed about something going wrong like last time and the effect that might have on both of them, then Gran Gran passes away when Katara is in her thirtieth week, so the full ten months were incredibly hard-going.
It’s a big relief when the baby is finally born on Ember Island, three years after Shira in 117 AG. They name her Lili in honour of their recent losses, since lilies can ease scars and Iroh once referred to them as lights in darkness. From the beginning, Lili is the image of Katara in every way physically and characteristically - kind, patient, gentle, but does have quite a temper if she’s pushed too far. She’s also a waterbender, though it takes her a little longer to manifest her abilities than any of her siblings, first gaining control of the water at the age of six. Lili is incredibly endearing, as both a child and an adult, and she becomes so particularly popular with the Fire Nation public that the firebending qualification to be considered an heir to the throne is reversed, so Shira and Lili are inducted into the succession. Born in the same year, Lili had a long-term relationship with Tenzin, Aang and Toph’s thirdborn, but as they grew older, Tenzin was concerned that if he married her, their children would have heritage of all four elements and degrade the chances of Tenzin producing airbenders and continuing the Air Nation. That concern resulted in a kind of on-again-off-again thing but eventually Lili sent him off with an "I don’t want to be with someone that isn’t even sure he wants me" and went travelling the world for a few years. When they’re both in their thirties though, Lili and Tenzin reconnect and get back together, eventually marrying and producing five children - Jinora, Aya, Hiro, Rohan and Kano, the elder four airbenders and the youngest a waterbender.
A few months after Lili is born, Sokka and Suki have a baby girl and when Katara and Zuko go to visit their new niece, they agree that night on a spur-of-the-moment that they want one more child. The morning after, they talk about it properly and decide it’d be better to wait till Lili was a bit older, but Katara found out six weeks later that that one time had been successful. About halfway through, they find out that they’re expecting a boy and Katara is especially excited since their son had always been more closely attached to her whereas their girls were very firmly Daddy’s girls. Sure enough, when Kallik arrives in 118 AG, he’s a big Mama’s boy and remains so his entire life. Apart from his curly black hair, Kallik is the spitting image of his uncle, to the point that Hakoda says that seeing Lili and Kallik together is like seeing young Katara and Sokka. Kallik is the hardest to handle out of their children - loud, playful, mischievous and an exhausting troublemaker. All of the siblings fight like cat and dog but Kallik and Izumi are by far the worst, on the level of one walks into a room and the other is like “And I took that personally” and they never seem to grow out of it even when they’re both old and grey. Kallik is the only nonbender in the family and initially he struggles with this a bit but he spends a lot of time hanging out with Uncle Sokka, learns dao swords with Shira and Zuko, and by the time he hits his teens, he comes to view it more as something that sets him apart from his siblings. When he’s 18, he goes to join the United Forces and he stays in service till his late thirties, when he meets Ren, another serviceman from the Northern Water Tribe. After beginning a relationship with him, the pair settle in Republic City and end up adopting two daughters, Kirima and Alasie.
About a decade after Kallik is born, it seems like things are kind of slowly drawing to a close as the kids are getting older - Kai is 19 and has left home, Izumi is 18 and living away in Republic City while she studies at university, Shira is 14 and already talking about moving South the first chance she gets, Lili is 11 and wanting to go Northern Water Tribe to train with the healers there, and Kallik is 10 and dreaming of being a great military commander like Grandpa Koda and Uncle Sokka - when suddenly Katara starts to get really, really sick. Zuko is absolutely terrified, thinking that there’s something seriously wrong with his wife, but after some deduction, it turns out that Katara is actually pregnant again. The relief at realising she’s not dying is short-lived and the reaction from both of them is basically holy shit holy fuck we are too old for this our other kids are practically all grown up now we are done with babies we can't seriously have six children what are we going to do. There’s a lot of discussion, especially since Katara is 43 by then and the risks for her to be carrying another child are higher, but they ultimately decide to go through with it. Ironically, it’s the easiest of all her pregnancies and when Katara delivers a baby girl in Republic City in 128 AG, there hadn’t been a single complication to speak of. Iroh had passed away two years earlier, devastating the whole family but Zuko in particular, but the baby is born with his irises - a darker gold - so they name her Ilah. Her eyes are big and round like Katara’s but other than that, Ilah resembles her Grandma Ursa most strongly, with her thick chestnut-coloured hair and slight, delicate facial features. Naturally, Katara and Zuko think all their babies were the cutest baby but Ilah is probably objectively the cutest, with her big honey-coloured eyes, chubby cheeks and soft little curls.
Inevitably, since Kai, Shira, Lili and Kallik had all either left home before she was born or did so when she was still a little girl, Ilah gets a lot more concentrated attention from Katara and Zuko. She’s completely spoiled and doted upon by the whole family, including her elder brothers and sisters who visit her as often as they can manage. Since Izumi still lives in the palace permanently as the Crown Princess, she and Ilah are close, but Ilah ultimately ends up being closest with Izumi’s son, Kaz, who is only a year younger than his aunt. Ilah was even in the room when Kaz was born, though it wasn't an intentional move. Zuko was supposed to be watching Ilah when things got intense with Izumi’s labour but things escalated from 0-100 real fast and Katara didn't have time to hand Ilah off, so she stayed tucked in a sling on her mother’s back as Katara helped her eldest daughter to deliver her own baby, somehow sleeping through all the noise and commotion. Ilah and Kaz end up more like a brother and sister or best friends than an aunt and nephew, though Kaz always calls her Auntie Ilah when he’s teasing her. Ilah is perhaps the shyest around strangers of her siblings, uninterested in celebrity and attention, but she’s the most adventurous, determined and creative, interested in science and invention from an early age. Growing up, Ilah felt a little pressured by the renown of her family, especially when her firebending turned out to be just about average in power, but when she’s 12, Ilah figures out that she can combustionbend. From there, she applies her bending abilities to science and when she leaves home for university, she invents the combustion engine at age 20. The rest of her adult life is spent travelling virtually non-stop, working on innovation projects for the different nations. She never has children, on the account that it would be unfair to expect a kid to move around as much as she does and she’s happy enough with her numerous nieces and nephews, but she eventually marries her long-time girlfriend Li-Mei, an Air Nomad tasked with searching the world for new airbenders.

What would you say are Scott's main character traits (including flaws)?
His compassion, his empathy, his resilience, his refusal to give up or back down. Scott was essentially the heart and soul of this show. Without him, none of the events that took place over the six (eight!) seasons would have been possible.
I. Compassion - as a positive trait
To me, this is Scott's biggest character trait. This defined him more than anything else throughout the series. It also set him apart from any other werewolf that we saw throughout the show's run. Where Peter or Derek or Deucalion were angry and power-hungry, Scott wasn't. Scott just wanted to be a teenage boy, be on first line for his lacrosse team, and date his girlfriend. Scott's compassion, his care for the lives of those around him, was what allowed him to overcome the manipulations and machinations of his various foes. Him wanting the best for others was what usually allowed him to turn his enemy's allies against them, by showing them a better way.
One of my favorite lines in the show summed up Scott...
"Scott doesn't care about power-- he cares about people."
Understand, when I praise that sentence, I'm not hating on people like Derek, who craved power, which was understandable given how powerless I'm sure he felt after everything he went through. No, my issue with Derek was never his quest for power, but always with how he went about doing it.
And that was his (Scott's) philosophy from day one. It's how he managed to get Allison out of her aunt's clutches and get Derek to fight against his uncle. It's what allowed him to sway Isaac (and Boyd before he and Isaac switched roles) to his side and away from Derek's pack.
I will always remember the way Isaac looked at Scott during Raving when Scott clarified that he didn't want him (Isaac) to get hurt.
It's what allowed him to calm Boyd and Isaac down in season three, as well as have the twins try so hard to join his pack. On and on that cycle went, with former enemies becoming allies, the biggest example of which being Theo.
Theo was Scott's biggest rival. He managed to do what no other villain on this show ever did. He brought Scott to his lowest point, drove his pack apart, killed him, and after everything, Theo wanted to be a better person, because of Scott.
Sidenote: I think that's why I loved Theo as much as I did. Theo was a perfect example of what Scott could have become if he'd followed the path that Peter laid out for him.
II. Compassion - as a character flaw
Like any great characterization, a character's greatest asset can also be one of their biggest flaws. And while I do think that Scott's compassion was his greatest strength, I also believe it was his greatest weakness. Scott's compassion, his desire to see the best in others, was something that others took advantage of.
Once again I bring up Theo, because whereas others, like Peter or Gerard or Deucalion, simply looked at this from their jaded world view, thinking Scott was naive, Theo was the only one to take actual advantage of Scott's trusting nature, using it to worm his way into the pack and sabotage it from within, as opposed to hammering on it from the outside.
Now, I feel the need to say that it wasn't as bad as some parts of the fandom make it out to be. There are those who "watched" Teen Wolf that will swear that Scott invited in every serial killer and homicidal maniac that came across the show, even after they attempted to kill him, and that's simply not the case. While he was a very trusting person, once you broke that trust, it had to he earned back.
Scott never fully trusted Peter again after his many attempts to take out Scott. Derek spent the latter half of his arc gaining back Scott's trust after repeatedly breaking it in the first two seasons. When Theo came back, Scott didn't give him a bro-hug and say "It's all good". Theo had to earn back every inch of Scott's respect that he so casually threw away.
It was Scott's compassion that also led him to make some pretty risky mistakes, such as invading Corey's mind or attempting the trap with Hayden as bait that ultimately got her and Liam captured by the Dread Doctors. Scott's compassion was what made him bad under pressure, as we saw whenever one of his plans fell apart, he grew frazzled and anxious, because he wanted to protect everyone.
To once again sidebar here for a second, part of me also wonders if Scott was so trusting in response to Stiles' paranoia.
Scott: "Why can't you trust anyone?"
Stiles: "Because you trust everyone!"
Its like a chicken-or-egg situation.
III. Intelligence
Scott's intelligence is often overlooked because it's not as flashy as Lydia's, but he is a highly intelligent character. And no, I'm not just talking about "emotional intelligence", which is often tossed out as some sort of consolation prize, but actual, book-smart intelligence.
People will often cite the first season, when Scott got back a bad grade as proof that he was a poor student, while completely ignoring the fact that said grade had the phrase "this isn't like you" on it, telling the audience that before all these werewolf shenanigans started happening, he had better grades. Something he turned around as the show progressed, enough to get into AP classes. It was Scott who deduced that the Dread Doctors were creating chimeras. It was Scott that figured out what was taken from the Ghost Rider by Douglas. It was Scott that outsmarted Gerard and Deucalion, who managed to trick the trickster (Nogitsune) and to devise a plan that took out the Beast and Theo, as well as denying Gerard his prize.
Scott was incredibly intelligent and people need to recognize and appreciate that.
IV. Empathy - Emotional Intelligence
Scott's empathy was another huge asset of his throughout the show. His ability to empathize with others, particularly those who opposed him, completely threw those around him off guard. Where someone like Peter or Derek (season two) or Theo (season five) would look at someone's circumstances and see that as a way to manipulate them into getting what they want, Scott looked at those same people and empathized with them, accepted their pain for what it was and not as a tool.
In my opinion, that's why Scott and Lydia worked so well together. They were both used and abused by Peter, and tossed aside when they were no longer useful.
It was Scott's empathy that allowed him to connect with Kira and Liam when they were coming into this world. He'd gone through that, scared and confused and he did everything in his power to ease that transition for them. Same with Malia. He recognized that she spent a large chunk of her life as a rabid animal and that it wasn't her fault, giving her the room to grow and come back to herself on her terms. It was him recognizing that Allison had been manipulated by her grief and her grandfather, his refusal to hold that against her because he understood, that inspired Allison to come up with her own code.
Scott understood those around him, and by just being a good person who believed in others, he inspired those around him to be better.
V. Resilience
No character got knocked down as many times as Scott did, and he got back up - every single time.
***
To close off, I want to talk about another "flaw". I don't necessarily view it as a flaw, but I know that some parts of the fandom did, so it needs to he discussed.
The most common flaw that Scott had was the same flaw that his entire pack had - they were teenagers!
Scott was a sixteen year old boy who was bitten by a werewolf and had his entire life thrown upside-down. People often seem to forget that and demand that he be a perfect person (despite not demanding that of other characters) and its aggravating. He got jealous, and angry, and insecure, and he was allowed to. He was allowed to enjoy the little moments of happiness, like getting a good grade or dancing with his girlfriend, because he was a child forced into a world of warring adults who sought to take advantage of him (and others) at every opportunity.

What are Men to Rocks and Mountains? Chapter 5
Rating: T | No warning apply | Obi-Wan Kenobi & Satine Kryze
Summary: Obi-Wan was hoping for a day off. Satine finds she is being lied to.
Read it on AO3
Chapter 5: I Must Return
Rainy days on Coruscant are Obi-Wan's favorite. Though he is also fond of bright, sunny days when the light warms his skin and uplifts even the worst of moods, there is something comforting about the rainfall. He enjoys the evenness of it as it pangs against the transperisteel panes, rolling down in predictable manners. When it rains, Obi-Wan can be found in a meditation room connected to the Archives. It is not known by most and has the lovely feature of consisting of mostly windows.
This is where he heads now, a stack of coursework tucked under his arm. While he was elated to wake up to the soft pitter-patter of precipitation, there is something nagging at him as he walks the halls. Obi-Wan stares at the rain, trying to deduce what could possibly be throwing him off.
It is rain. Falling as gravity has deemed it to. But the more he stares the more he notices the rain has been thrown off-rhythm. The drops are not even in volume, which is giving a more chaotic sound to it all. As the Force moves through all things, the irregularity of the rain is making the Force seem just as off-balanced. Certainly not the tone he had hoped for, but perhaps the rainstorm will calm by the time he begins his studies.
Obi-Wan reaches a main artery of the Temple, which is swarmed with younglings. He has to twist and dodge the eager initiates as they travel in clusters, not caring to walk in any sort of orderly fashion. It is usually annoying when he is trying to get places, but he finds it quite amusing at his leisure. Obi-Wan remembers being that small himself, attached at the hip to his creche-mates and not caring about any random padawan moving through the Temple. Sometimes he misses those days. The monotony and his constant contact with his best friends were soothing. Obi-Wan took it for granted, wanting to reach his apprenticeship without realizing the things he was losing.
An initiate he recognizes from helping out with classes catches his eye, the humanoid boy flashing a toothy grin that seems to be missing a few parts. Obi-Wan smiles back, reaching down to ruffle the boy's hair as he passes, earning a squeal of delight. Obi-Wan chuckles, looking back at his pathing as he nears the entrance to the Archives.
As though the galaxy could not let him have his pleasantries, the Force whispers in his ear to look. Obi-Wan stops. Turning around he looks across the sea of younglings that has begun to thin, only to see a young woman standing out among them. Lady Satine is the spitting image of how Obi-Wan felt weeks ago arriving at her residence. Hair and clothing sopping wet, giving her as undignified a look as a lady such as herself could possibly achieve in public. He swallows hard. He hasn't seen her in over a week. Since the fundraiser. Does it bring him a small kind of satisfaction to see her so disheveled? Maybe so. But at the same time, for her to be in the Temple cannot be a good sign.
While he may want to just turn around and go about his day, Obi-Wan knows he can hardly do such a thing. He walks toward her slowly, becoming more and more aware of the distress in her face as he draws closer. Red-rimmed eyes follow his movement with an expression that is far less combative than he has ever witnessed on her slender face. Her skin is pale, dark circles under her eyes pronounced. And then he is standing but a meter away, and he realizes she is trembling.
"Lady Satine," he breathes, giving her a bow of respect. She hardly reacts. "Are you well?" He asks though it is very obvious she is not.
She swallows hard, staring through him for a moment before focusing her gaze and looking him in the eye. "I'm afraid I must ask for your help."
One day earlier
Satine sits quietly in her designated pod as the senate session progresses into its third hour. She sighs, wishing Bo or Kira or even Nel would have decided to attend with her. While usually, she shares her pod with senators of other nearby planets in the Mandalorian system, it seems the chancellor gave her special permission for a private seat due to her circumstances. His intentions are right, but quite frankly Satine is bored.
The senate affairs of today are not of any concern to Satine. They address issues that Mandalore has no claim in, and none are even to be put to a vote anyway. Tomorrow will bring another long session of senators yelling at one another while Mas Amedda attempts to keep peace and Chancellor Valorum tries to push a swift vote. Never dull in the senate chambers.
She scrolls through her datapad, reading some additional reports on Mandalore's status she requested from... less official sources. While Satine appreciates the data that Valorum has been so kind as to supply her with, they are mere numbers on a page. Like Nel said nearly a week ago, she is stuck in the bubble of Coruscant when she should be putting her time into figuring out how to end the civil war.
The thought of Nel makes her sigh. Their relationship as of late has been distant ever since the fundraiser. She tried once to bring up the argument, but he elected to just apologize broadly instead of actually discussing the things that were said. The more Satine considers his words, the more she is disillusioned with the man. While an agreeable fellow in his looks and physique, Satine feels like his intellect is unstimulating. He refuses to humor any conversation of deeper topics, particularly when they have to do with emotions. While their romantic future appears to have hit a stalemate, he did a good job of reminding her of her duty to Mandalore that she admittedly has not been putting enough time into.
Senator Tal Merrik sent her field journals over an ultra-secure network. He has been a mentor to Satine over the years, hailing from her home planet of Kalevala and being one of the few to visit her whenever he was in Coruscant. He has been deeply involved in the fighting-- more than most senators would be willing to do-- and had good intel.
She reads it carefully, taking in every horrifying detail. The cities that have been decimated. The death count on both sides. Clans are splintering, split between pacifism and tradition. It's the most honest account she has received thus far, and it pains her. Who can win a battle of war versus peace? The side of peace must fight for peace using war, though that is the direct opposite of the end goal. How can an example be made of a peaceful Mandalore when it is achieved in violent ways? Satine realizes she is clutching the datapad hard enough that her knuckles are white. She relaxes, tuning back into the senate meeting to try and calm herself down.
Thankfully, it seems the hearing is wrapping up. The chancellor has already descended and final announcements are being read. Satine looks down at her comlink to let Bo and Nel know that she is done, only to find a message waiting.
Went to grab food, be back in an hour -Nel.
She looks at the time received and groans. They won't be back for another forty-five minutes at least. "Deny Jedi security, Satine," she mocks to herself as she gathers her things. "We will be your security, Satine." Who was she kidding? Bo and Nel are good fighters, but battle is what they do best. Not security work. Even Kira is not made for the mundane duties of a bodyguard, but she is at least mature enough to handle it.
By the time she exists her pod, the hallways have all but cleared. A storm is predicted to roll in at night, so there is much less lingering than usual. Satine walks through the quiet passages of the rotunda, heading toward the elevators. She continues reading Merrik's report as she walks, hoping it will make her walk slower and time go faster.
I must tell you, Satine, the force of the New Mandalorians are wavering. The traditionalists have the advantage of their craft, and it is not an easy opposition to put up with in a peaceful manner. Especially with the tragic assassination of Duke Adonai Kryze-- to which I give my greatest sympathies in what must be your time of great grief-- I'm afraid we have reached a turning point in this fight and the New Mandalorians are not on the winning side of it...
Satine stops, staring at the final sentence. She reads it through once, and then again.
The tragic assassination of Duke Adonai Kryze.
Time of great grief.
I give my greatest sympathies.
The next thing she knows Satine is grabbing onto the wall for stability, ragged breaths forcing themselves from her lungs where she trapped them. The hallways seem long all of the sudden and a chill creeps through her.
Duke Adonai is dead. Her father is dead? No... he can't be! She would know...
Satine reaches a point where she must make a decision. She can melt into the ground in the Senate hallway, sobbing out the feelings of grief that are threatening to push through the numbness of her shock... or she can find answers.
There is, of course, only one correct answer in a time of war. She picks herself up and marches to the elevators. The world around her seemed blurry and slow. Nothing about it feels real. Maybe this is all a dream?
Satine prays that it is. That she is just having a moment of awareness in the midst of a horrible nightmare.
Within minutes, she is barging into the Chancellor's office, not caring to go through the usual pleasantries. "Did you know?" Her voice sounds foreign coming from her mouth. It is demanding, yet strained with the rasp of holding back a sob.
Chancellor Valorum looks shocked, both from her sudden presence in his office and her vague question. "Lady Kryze, what do I--"
"My father. Did you know?" Valorum's face falls. It is all the answer she needs. Satine stands in front of his desk with her arms wrapped around herself as though she will fall apart if she doesn't hold herself together. She feels like a child, but she doesn't care. Her anger quickly fails to keep its flame and turns to sadness. "When?"
"I was informed of Duke Adonai's assassination very soon after our last meeting, a little over a week ago."
"A week!"
"But," he looks physically pained as he stares at her, and she distantly wonders how pathetic she must look right now. "I was also told in the same report the death would be reported to you by representatives of Clan Kryze personally."
Satine's head whirs. She opens her mouth, but no words manage to escape. She closes it again, hugging her arms around her tighter.
"My deepest apologies, truly. When you mentioned your sister had arrived on Coruscant... I thought you knew."
Satine presses her lips together to hide that they are quivering. She bows shallowly. "I thank you for your honesty, Chancellor, and apologize for this outburst." Before he can answer she is out the door, tears already streaming down her face.
It is a different kind of sadness that fills Satine now. She expected to wail, collapse in a pit of despair, but the tug of grief is much quieter than that. Her tears stream continuously down her face in hot streams that drip off her cheeks. Her throat is tight, feeling as though she will never be able to open it to speak of the horrors she is feeling inside. While she cries, silently and solemnly, she is not crumbling. Quite the opposite, actually. She walks with conviction to the elevator, fueled by the anger of betrayal. Never has violence crossed the mind of Satine so vividly as in this moment when her comlink rings and it is Bo-Katan.
She ignores it. Satine steps into the lift and presses the button to let her out at the taxi drive.
Obi-Wan slips off his cloak, wrapping it around the soaking girl. He can't help but notice how small she looks. She is an average size for a human female, a few inches shorter than Obi-Wan himself, but somehow she always seemed taller. Maybe it was her strong posture that gave her a commanding look or her voice that tends to fill a room when she speaks. He was always aware of her presence when he was in it, but now she feels like she is trying to take up as little space as possible.
"Come," he says softly, placing a hand at her shoulder blades and is surprised when she doesn't jolt away from him.
They walk silently through the Temple. Obi-Wan receives many looks from passerby's, but he makes sure the message he projects in the Force is a firm mind your business. Even the initiates make a point not to stare.
Of course, he cannot not run into people he knows. Bant is walking with Garen, both of whom see Obi-Wan with a trembling civilian. They look surprised and worried, nearly stopping to talk before he makes it obvious he must continue. He presses his lips into a thin line as he acknowledges them, promising to explain later as he passes.
Obi-Wan takes her to a lounge area that civilians are able to occupy and sends a quick message to Qui-Gon to meet him as soon as possible.
The lounge is quiet and comfortable. Satine clutches Obi-Wan's cloak around herself as she settles onto one of the couches. He watches her closely, unsettled at the way she is moving about the room. It is like she is floating aimlessly through space, not trying to push herself in any certain direction. Just... drifting. That empty look on her face has at least settled into more of a neutral expression, though it is plainly obvious she has been crying.
He sits next to her, putting a good distance between them to allow her space. She stares down at her lap where her fists have balled up the thick material of his cloak.
"I did not know where else to go," she says softly, her voice raspy and raw. She looks up at him, her blue eyes seeming much brighter lined with tears. "And I am sorry for how I have treated you, Obi-Wan. It was not fair of me."
"The past is the past," he says, nodding with gratitude. "That is not why you are here, though. What is going on? Are you hurt?"
Lady Satine shakes her head. "It is not me who is wounded. Physically, at least."
Obi-Wan cocks his head to the side in confusion. She clears her throat, staring past him. "The ruler of Mandalore is dead. My... My father." She closes her eyes, breathing deeply, and Obi-Wan now can feel the deep grief radiating through the Force. He allows himself to feel it for just a moment, letting the heaviness settle in his own chest. Obi-Wan wants to reach out and offer a touch of comfort, but he restrains himself. Her eyes open once again, swirls of conflict in them now. "And now that the Duke is dead I-" Her vision focuses back on Obi-Wan, awe evident on her face like she is just realizing her words. "I am Duchess of Mandalore."
Earlier
In the same way she barged into Chancellor Valorum's office, Satine bursts into her own apartment. Bo and Nel stand in the center of the living space, turning in surprise at the racket.
"Satine!" Bo says, her eyebrows narrowing in anger. "What the hell are you--"
Bo is cut off by Satine grabbing her by the collar and pulling her close so they are nearly nose-to-nose. Nel twitches but doesn't pull them apart.
"Why were you sent here?"
Bo's eyes calmly search Satine's face.
"To bring you home."
Satine's anger is quiet and deadly. "I see. So not to tell me our father has been killed?"
For the first time, Bo looks shaken. "How did you--"
Another flash of rage courses through Satine. She pushes her sister backward, suddenly needing an entire galaxy of space between them. "So you've been keeping this from me? Do you think me a fool?"
"No, sister, please, just--"
"No justification you give me can change the fact that you have kept me in the dark. And for what? There is no reason you can give that would put any sense to this madness!"
Bo looks at a loss for words, alternating between looking at her and Nel. Having suddenly remembered Nel is standing there too, Satine turns her attention to him.
"And I am guessing you are just as complacent in all of this."
He stares at her with much less visible emotion than Bo, which makes Satine feel even worse. "It was for your own good, Satine."
"Don't tell me what is my own good. You strung me along, made me feel bad for not knowing what is going on in Mandalore when you are the one deliberately not telling me vital information." She looks back at Bo. "I want you both to leave."
"Be reasonable, Satine!"
"Reasonable?" she scoffs. "You are disillusioned if you think I am the one being unreasonable in this situation. I want you out. Immediately."
A war with words is not one that Bo-Katan can easily win. She looks at Nel and they silently retire to their rooms to get their things.
By nightfall, Bo and Nel have left. They produced orders that Kira was also to return, so Satine's good cousin begrudgingly leaves with them. For the first time in years, Satine is truly alone, and naturally, it should fall in the moment she wants anything other than to be alone.
Finally, she wallows. The grief hits her like a truck and she falls where she stands. It has been years since she has seen her father, and now he is gone before she can say goodbye. Before she can apologize for the hell she raised when he ordered her to Coruscant. She did not understand then. Sometimes, she still doesn't. But she knows enough to know he was saving her life. Saving the future of Mandalore as much as it hurt.
At some point, she falls asleep on the floor. Satine only knows that this happens when she wakes up with a booming post-sobbing headache and a crick in her neck from resting on the hard ground. It is morning, and all is still. She slowly picks herself up, stretching out her cramped limbs and staring blankly into space.
The pain of loss has diminished. The sentiment is there but she feels much more in control of her emotions. With a clear head, Satine now can see the path ahead of her. She knows what she must do.
It's raining when she steps out of the complex. While she moderately prepared for this by choosing to wear a warm tunic and water-repellant trousers, the feeling of the cool droplets against her skin still sends a shiver down her spine. She hardly cares, though, as the numbness from the rain complements the way she already feels.
Satine at least has her nerves to distract her from her other anxieties. The closer she draws to the Jedi Temple, the more she concludes that this is pretty much the opposite of what she wants to do. Unfortunately, what she wants and needs to do are very different things in this situation. Master Jinn has been kind enough, clearly offering her a lifeline with no mention of her previous biases against her security detail. Obi-Wan, however, is another story.
She can't say he hasn't been an upstanding Jedi to her. In terms of doing his duty, he has done just that. Even in their squabbles, he certainly has the gift of wit, but she can't claim he has disrespected her. Even so, to face him again is making Satine nervous. Maybe it is of her own embarrassment for how crudely she has been judging him, or maybe they truly are incompatible. He just... simply drives her crazy. The fact she is finding it increasingly difficult to present concrete reasons for this feeling makes her even madder.
By the time Satine reaches the front steps of the Jedi Temple she is riddled with anxiety, regret, and shaking from the chill. Though the walk is only a kilometer at most, the rain is unrelenting in soaking her to the bone. How pitiful she must look... maybe it is why the Temple guards take no time in allowing her entry once she alerts she is there to meet Qui-Gon Jinn.
Satine has never been in the Jedi Temple, and her expectations of what she would find are not at all what she expected. There is a simple beauty to the vaulted ceilings, plentiful tall windows, and various shows of impressive art. The visitor's entrance opens to a large rotunda of multiple passages going in every which way. The guard instructs her to wait to be met by Master Jinn, and so she has time to take it all in.
While the architecture is gorgeous, Satine is most surprised by the people that now surround her. Children of all races and species fill the corridor. Laughing, teasing, talking in large clusters-- it feels more like a primary school than a Temple, lively and inviting. She stands in place, slowly turning to take it all in. A Jedi Master-Apprentice pair walks through, the Master reaching out to tug on the padawan's braid affectionately. A small group of elderly Jedi pass, throwing her small smiles that seem to quell her stress just a little bit. In the center of the room, she spots a young man, a padawan based on his braid. He weaves through the crowd, standing quite tall over the more plentiful children. Satine watches as he swiftly changes his course ever so slightly to greet one of the young ones with a ruffle to his hair. The kid squeals, making his little friends also giggle at the attention. The young man turns, flashing a big bright smile at the kid and making Satine suck in a sharp breath.
Obi-Wan is the young man, though he is not at all the man she has known thus far. This Jedi is standing tall with his shoulders back, basking in the comfort of his home. Gone is any sign of awkwardness or discomfort she usually associated with him and now she sees a boy as lively as the Temple he lives in, somehow seeming to bring a little bit of brightness to a cold and dreary day.
Satine realizes she has seen the Jedi smile but she has never seen him grin.
Obi-Wan continues on, but then he stops. Satine's heart is pumping in her chest as he suddenly turns around, staring directly at her like he knew she was there all along. Her heart drops when his happy demeanor fades at the very sight of her. Why couldn't it have been Master Jinn?
He is approaching her now, his eyes scanning over her like is trying to figure out a star chart with no coordinates. Sizing her up, though he has no reason to do so. Never has she felt smaller.
"Lady Satine?" he sounds surprised but genuinely curious. "Are you well?"
What clued him in? Was it the soaking wet clothes? How horrid I must look right now after spending the night sobbing and sleeping on the floor? A Jedi needs no Force to make that deduction.
"I'm afraid I must ask for your help."
His eyes search hers, and then he nods. The next thing she knows he is carefully wrapping his cloak around her shoulders. While usually, she would object to such a gesture, especially from Obi-Wan, Satine is cold. The cloak is thick and warm and has a lingering scent of warm spice and a touch of sweetness that reminds her of an aromatic cup of tea. She has no energy to deny such a pleasant feeling, and even allows his hand to lightly rest at her back as he guides her through the Temple.
He takes her to a lounge area. Small but cozy. Obi-Wan mutters something about Master Jinn coming as well but his voice just sounds far away. She's distracted. Not by the things that actually matter but about the trivial things that take her mind away from her loss.
"I did not know where else to go... And I am sorry for how I have treated you, Obi-Wan. It was not fair of me."
He looks surprised and concerned. The young Jedi is not nearly as distant as she expected him to be at their reunion, but showing great interest in her wellbeing. He asks why she is really here and Satine finally musters the courage to say it aloud.
"The ruler of Mandalore is dead. My... My father." she chokes as she tries to keep her breaths even, pushing away the panic attack that threatens to surface. But as the words settle into the air, realization hits Satine like a truck. The ruler of Mandalore is dead. "And now that the Duke is dead I-" She cannot bear to say it aloud. It's too soon. She is not ready. The panic continues to surge through her until she finally focuses on Obi-Wan, his calm eyes staring at her with patience and sympathy. She looks back, allowing herself to be grounded in his placid energy. Duty. It is my duty. "I am Duchess of Mandalore."
Duchess of Mandalore. It sounds foreign. For so long her future has been talked about in what felt like theoretical terms, but suddenly nothing is rhetorical.
"Satine," the Jedi says softly. She realizes he has never addressed her in such an informal way, but she will allow it for this moment. "I am so sorry. What can I do?"
The door to the lounge opens and in walks Qui-Gon Jinn. His expression is laced with trepidation upon seeing the two sitting on the lounger. Satine looks at Qui-Gon, and then back to his padawan.
"I must return to Mandalore. At once."
Read it on AO3
Note: I will not be posting every chapter here on Tumblr... just the ones I am the most pleased with since this is a longer fic and will have filler for plot purposes (i.e. chapter 4). To read in full, check out the link to read on AO3.

What the fuck?
He knows without a doubt, with one hundred percent certainty, that he did not have a woman here last night.
So why the fuck is there a pair of women’s underwear on his face?

+* is this a sacrifice?  by @deadlikemoi for @kylosgirl9593 : "What are you giving up for Lent?" The question is posed to Rey by a friend of Rose's, a girl who goes by KK, and Rey has to search her mind for an answer.
That is the problem with going to a University that is religiously affiliated; most people assume that you follow that same tenet without bothering to ask, and it has gotten her into trouble more than a few times.

When your boyfriend owns a pool, who better to teach you how to swim?
+ A Poetic Match by @commandercrouton for @polkadotdotdotreylo : It didn’t matter who was here at the moment. The only thing Rey could focus on was that scent. Her wide hazel eyes circled the room as she tried to see the one who was emitting those delectable pheromones. How was no one else in this room reacting? The smell was making her crazy, and she dug her nails into her skin. She would know this scent anywhere.
She found him frozen by the podium, staring at her with the same look she knew she was giving him. She felt her thighs clench in anticipation as memories of their last, and only, time together filled her brain.
“Rey, is everything okay? Your scent...shifted,” Poe inquired tentatively.
“What?” she asked, not willing to take her eyes off the man in front of the room.
“Why is Professor Solo staring at you like you killed his pet cat?”
At this statement, Rey looked at Poe, realization dawning on her. No, not this, anything but this. This wasn’t a professor. He was something entirely different to her.
Alpha.
+* By The Moonlight by @my-jedi-life for @eveningeyes : Kylo Ren is being hailed as the "next Stan Lee" in the world of graphic novelists... but he holds a secret. His books are really about his life.
Rey Kenobi is an up and coming journalist who lands the interview of a lifetime with Kylo Ren.
* Black Ties & White Lies by @happilyeveraftereveryday for @looc-at-me : The plan was simple. Sneak in, kick Paige's ex-boyfriend's ass, then sneak out. But Rey did not plan on arguing with an unfairly hot but unsurprisingly elitist Greek god of a man while looking for said ex-boyfriend, especially when he took offense to her refusing to dance with him for some reason.
And she definitely didn't plan on kissing him.
Or how a masquerade party leads to unexpected actions, feelings, and consequences, along with Ben Solo's Cinderella dashing away without even leaving him a shoe behind. Nevertheless, he's determined to find her.
+* Your Eyes (Are Holding Up the Sky) by @em-is-writing for DagaGada :  Ben Solo life is falling apart (as much as one high school senior's life can) - he's failing Pre-Calculus, has been put on academic probation, and can't play on the basketball team until he pulls his grades up. When he's assigned a tutor, he thinks this will be an unmitigated disaster. Life has other plans.
+ But Not To Me by @littlethingsfic for ArdeaJestin : “…Ben?”
He memorizes every detail of her face — flushed cheeks, creased brows, dark eyelashes, wisps of loose hair — framed by the eerie quiet of their destruction. His body is restless like it might burst at the seams, thrilled and dazed by her, by their conquest, by their…
He searches for the words to say but everything sounds wrong. He charges in and decides not to say anything at all,
“Rey, I don’t care about the kriffing fleet —”
He grabs her and kisses her hard.
+ Cheers to Phasma’s Flaming Vibrator by @3todream3 for @rakefiree :  An unfortunate office fire has caused renovations, and the ever punctual Ben Solo has to share an office with Rey Johnson with whom he has a history. He just wish he could remember what he did to piss her off. She apparently doesn't like him much and annoys him with Candy Crush and other little things, not letting him get any work done. Being cooped up in the small office is going to be the death of Ben. What on earth could happen when tempers flare and hormones go crazy???
+* Seven Days with my Toes in the Sand by @erney007 for @em-is-writing :  Memory in his dream, emptiness in his hand, with his toes in the sand. Will she be the one who shows him how to love again?
Desert Magic by @roguesinside for @spiegatrixlestrange : He was hungry, always so hungry. He sweated through the sheets when he dreamed of the desert sun. Shivered under piles of blanket when the sand was lit only by the moons. He tried to magic up an apple, a glass of cool water but the lifeforce around him was so dim that the simple charm wasted away in the desert sand.
The dreams saved him.
+ Oh Captain, My Captain by @elleren31 for @littlethingsfic : In the midst of the Civil War, telegraph officer Captain Samuel Beckwith returns to Washington D.C. and is immediately taken by a beautiful young farmwoman. But love in a time of war can be difficult, especially when you work for the President of the United States.
Historical accuracy AND inaccuracies. Earns its rating later on.
+* Royal Blood by @sweetkyloren for @deadlikemoi : Rey has lived on the streets of Aldera for as long as she can remember but when an aide to Queen Leia takes Rey under her wing she finds herself living a life most can only dream about.
In the years that follow, Rey soon finds herself falling for her two best friends who also happen to be the two heirs to the throne: Ben and Kylo.
+ Ready For It? by @rrwilson66 for @elleren31 :   A tale as old as time, the story of a beast of a killer and a beautiful thief fighting to be together.
+* Unrequited by @rakefiree for @reyloandotherfandoms : Ben loves Rey. Rey loves Ben.
He thinks she loves someone else. She thinks he knows how she feels and doesn't reciprocate the feelings.
What happens when they are trapped in the same house for a weekend?
OR
Welcome to Ben and Rey Pain Train! We have a dog... and stuff.
+* Swipes and Seduction (a tinder AU) by @galaxytrueffle for @tazwren : “Ben.” Was still a faceless and detail-less individuum on tinder. Thus he needed to add his career, height and a little text- before rounding up his introduction with a photograph.
Ben. Corporate lawyer. 189 cm.
What else was there to say about him?
“Hi. I am Ben. 32 years old. I work as a tax lawyer for a well known automotive company. My wife died and now I am a single parent- I work all the time and have literally no hobbies beside working out, one weekly WoW session and spending time with my child on the weekends. Oh- and I haven’t had sex for ages. So if you are interested- match me?”
That is what he should have written- the reality.
But- this was the internet...he didn’t have to be so honest. Especially not in the beginning.

IT’S A MATCH!
You and Rey<3 have liked each other.
+* Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost by @loveofescapism for @reyloner : “Okay, what if you do find them and they send you away?”
“They won’t.”
“How do you know that?” he asked, and for once he looked like he was genuinely curious to hear her answer. Which, if he wasn’t pissing her off so much, she would have answered much nicer than she did.
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because I’m their daughter?” she said sarcastically, “They had a good reason for giving me up, you’ll see.”
---
Rey is traveling the world to find her birth parents after her guardian Maz passes way. She was excited to rediscover herself and more importantly, where she came from. The only thing she wasn't excited about, was the fact that Ben Solo was tagging along for the journey, his pen and notebook in hand.
+ A wonderous place for you and me by @kylosgirl9593 for @galaxytrueffle : It's Ben Solo's 30th birthday and his friends decide to throw him a little 'Party’ Rey however has a few *special* presents for Ben. ------------ Ben laid on the ground, hands up in surrender. Rey had one foot on his chest, pinning him down to the ground, he could easily take her down, but he had to accept his defeat.“You had to know this was coming. You just had to. You couldn’t run from me forever, Solo,” she said as she pointed the gun to his chest. She smiled in victory. “Game over.” She pulled the trigger and the green laser beamed through the barrel. The sound of Pac-Man dying filled the room.
+ Close Encounters by @deedreamer for @loveofescapism : It’s like Rey's own personal porn reel is playing against the inside of her lids. Her body is reacting without her permission.
She sucks in a breath and re-crosses her legs, suddenly feeling a tingling sensation at her center. Her nipples harden and strain against the fabric of her bra and the silky material of her shell is cool against her belly, making the sensation even more extreme.
Rey feels her chest and cheeks flush, and she wonders if she looks as hot and bothered as she feels. Because that would be really embarrassing. She’s a professional, for God’s sake.
+* Don’t You Forget About Me by @rebelrebelreylo for @my-jedi-life : He wrote the letter ten years ago, but it’s still burning a hole in his pocket.
Dear Mr. Skywalker, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are.
You see us as you want to see us… In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions.
But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain…
And an athlete…
And a basket case…
A prince…
And a criminal.
Does that answer your question?
Sincerely — The Breakfast Club.
A Breakfast Club AU with not-quite-neat-parallels written for MyJediLife for the Reylo Writing Den Anniversary Exchange. (Yes — Rey is more Bender than anyone else.)
+* A Year of Me and You by crossingwinter for @kylolita : “After you move in with one another, give yourself six months to like one another again,” Maz says, looking at Rey seriously through her bottlecap glasses.
“I’m not going to fall out of love with—”
“No, no. Not love. Love’s not got anything to do with it, child. Like.”

Non-linear vignettes of various length, set during the first year Rey and Ben live together.
Ben’s Body by @shewhospeakswiththunder for @thelastmorozova :  AU. Rey is an up and coming sculptor specialising in human shape and form. Her new next door neighbour has a body to die for and she's determined to preserve it in marble forever. Now she just has to convince dashing and reclusive Ben to model for her.
Preferably naked.
+* Sounds of Passion by DagaGada for @rebelrebelreylo : The Sound of Music Modern AU. The two actors meet in the theater production. He's Von Trapp and she's Maria. He's a big star who got roped into it by his mother, who owns the theater. She's fresh out of Juilliard.
Will they go past their hate at first sight? What if the heated fight turns into something different but equally heated? Will they find passion for theatre and each other together?
* Grabbing Your Attention in Detention for @shewhospeakswiththunder by @ashtyntaytertot :  Ben is a troubled teen in high school and Rey doesn't like him because of that, but he likes her. A lot.
+ Let Me Put My Darkness In You by ArdeaJestin for @terestriel :  Hux catches his boss composing love poems, attempts to wreak havoc, and wonders why smartphones don't exist.
+* At the Stroke of Midnight by @bunilicious for @midnightbluefox : He knew.
The realization struck her like a bolt of lightning, and it was only the warmth of his hand on her elbow that kept her upright. How else could she explain the determination beneath his soulful gaze?
He was iron, wrapped in the finest velvet.
“Rey,” Ben spoke at last, his voice barely above a whisper.
Yes, she wanted to scream. I am the masked woman who waltzed with you underneath the moonlight. The one who ran away when the clock struck twelve. The one who lost her shoe at the foot of the stairs.
But he had to say it first. He had to.
“Rey.” He took a deep breath, eyes fixed upon her expectant face. “I need you to help me find her.”
Her dreams were made of glass. And in that moment they had shattered.

A REYLO VICTORIAN / CINDERELLA AU
+* Ravenous by @aknightofwren for @bunilicious :  38 ABY. Nearly four decades since the Battle of Yavin. The greatest of all great wars has finally come to an end. The Resistance has been disbanded, allowing those seeking comfort and security among their ranks to finally pursue the lives they had always dreamt of. But something sinister is lurking in the lush greens of the Forest Moon of Endor, something that not even the Skywalker's could have seen coming.
+ Shape of you by @looc-at-me for @deedreamer :  Ben Solo has been babysitting a group of grumpy old men who are often referred to as immortal rock legends for nearly two years and he's at his wits end. Deciding to spend the last concert of The Vaders worldwide tour on the ground floor with the other fans instead of backstage, Ben manages to meet a brown-haired beauty and they instantly connect before a family secret resurfaces.
+* Refuse Me by @kylolita for @aknightofwren : It’s the most contact she’s received in years, since her Grandpa was still alive.
This Alpha’s touch is electric, completely unfamiliar but just what she needs. Her eyes automatically find his, they are molten brown, and everything in her wants to examine those eyes forever and-
What am I doing? some sensible part of her screams at herself. Whatever he bids, another part answers.
Rey’s plan to live her life to the fullest as an Alpha falls apart when a classmate discovers her secret.
* And There You Were by @reyloandotherfandoms for @happilyeveraftereveryday : The phone rings in the middle of the night, and it's some man Rey doesn't know, demanding to speak to someone whose name she does not recognize. Why she doesn't just hang up on him is beyond her.
But she doesn't.
+* Love Potions and Legalities by @hellomelusine for @ohwise1ne :  When Kylo Ren, best Law Enforcement Warlock on Leia Organa-Solo's team, is tasked with apprehending a girl, untrained, but blatantly brewing and selling illegal love potions, he's less than enthused, the task beneath his station. What he expects and what he gets are two wildly different things when he finally breezes into Rey's shop in the desert town of Niima, Jakku.
+* Kingdom for a Kiss by @reyloner for @commandercrouton : “His name day is only moonturn away — there’s to be a great feast in his honour. And, best of all, a tourney he’ll be sure to compete in. He’s a good jouster — I have faith in his victory.” She leans in, a sly smile working alighting her elegant features. “Winning make men bold. It warms the blood, inflates their egos. It makes my Husband insufferable and my son want to celebrate.”
“Oh.” Rey frowns. “How can you be sure he’ll win?”
“I cannot.” Leia admits. “But I can hope.”

Lady Rey Kenobi, the last surviving member of a once great house, is to wed the future King of Naboo.
Only, Prince Benjamin Amidala seems determined to avoid her at all costs - even in consummating the marriage.
+* No Deliverance by @orkindofamazing for @ashtyntaytertot : Kylo Ren had seen beauty, witnessed the splendor of creation and the power of destruction, was well acquainted with desire and longing. Yet none of it compared to the strength and beauty of the tempest he was witnessing here.
The only thing he understood with any degree of certainty was the fact that he inexplicably wanted to be closer. In a trance-like state, he advanced, and his feet seemed to move across the ground of their own volition.
-
Kylo Ren wasn't very good at being a demon, but then he hadn't been a very successful angel, either. However, when he is sent to tempt and bind an immortal named Rey, it's a challenge unlike anything he's faced before.
+ Art for You Octopi My Heart by @spiegatrixlestrange for @orkindofamazing :  An art gift for an amazing person.

Backstory
Jayna doesn’t remember her life on Chalacta before the Jedi came for her.  She was only about five when she arrived at the Temple and already showed a deep connection to the force.  She was trained along with several younglings around her own age, including one Obi Wan Kenobi.
She was always rather reckless, experimenting with her abilities and thinking of new and creative ways to use it.  However, she did not have the same natural control of her emotions the others did, which proved difficult in her training.  This didn’t stop her and Obi Wan from forming a close bond in their early days.  While he had a better sense of when to stop, they encouraged each other in their studies and pushed the limits of what was and was not allowed.
Eventually, Jayna passed her trials and moved to the status of Padawan at thirteen under the guidance of Master Kira Odan, a female Pandoran.  She did her best to counterbalance her Padawan’s more reckless tendencies, but they did not have long together.
When Jayna was fourteen, and her master were sent to settle of dispute on the edge of Wild Space.  They were so far out, contact with the Republic was extremely difficult, which proved their undoing.  The village in which they were staying was attacked by slavers.  Master Odan was killed and Jayna was taken as a slave. It took weeks for the Jedi to finally reply to the distress call.  When they got there, the village was burned to the ground.  Both Master Odan and her padawan were presumed dead.
Jayna was eventually taken by the Pykes to work in their spice mines. She tried to keep her abilities under wraps.  She knew well enough to know she could not fight everyone on her own, and especially without her lightsaber (she had destroyed it not long after being captured, making a point to pull out the kyber crystal before her slavers could discover it).  But, she found it difficult to obey orders and was often beaten down for her trouble, which only fueled her rage and made it harder to control her abilities.
Luckily for her, this inability to back down from a fight caught the interest of a Bounty Hunter employed by the Pykes, a Twi’lek named Daymar.  He bought her for a rather low price since she was “too much trouble”.
Jayna saw this as her chance to escape, but Daymar easily caught her and brought her back to their came.  She had also given up her secret in the escape attempt.  Seeing this as an opportunity, Daymar convinced her to stay, playing into her insecurities about the Jedi abandoning her.  Feeling alone in the world, and scared, Jayna agreed to stay with Daymar.
She took on the alias Myra Tillos as Daymar trained her to be a bounty hunter. She learned to be sufficient with a variety of weapons as well as how to hide her abilities in order not to draw attention to the Jedi and other hunters who might want to take her away.  She even managed to scramble together bits and pieces of machinery to eventually rebuild her lightsaber.  This only added to her growing reputation as rumors spread on where and how she got the weapon.
All seemed to be going well until she was nineteen and got her final lesson.
While on a job, their employer discovered Jayna was force sensitive.  He convinced Daymar to hand her over in exchange for Jayna’s cut plus an extra twenty percent.  Daymar did so without hesitation, telling Jayna that “it was nothing personal, just business”.  It was then Jayna realized Daymar had just been using her, just like the slavers had used her, and the Jedi before them.
Unfortunately for her latest buyer, he underestimated her abilities, thinking she had never been properly trained.  She killed him in the escape as well as everyone else who knew of her abilities.  She then tracked down Daymar and killed him too.
Now free, she vowed never again to have any form of Master.  She soon developed her own reputation as a solo act known for quick jobs and miraculous escapes. She rarely worked with other Bounty Hunters if she could help it, knowing the chances of her being stabbed in the back when she was by herself was a nice healthy zero.  However, she eventually got into some friendly competition with Cad Bane and could even manage some jobs with him with little pain on either end.
She spent a little over a decade like this until The Clone Wars.  With the war brings change and an imbalance in the force even she can’t ignore.

Go is not like chess. Chess is a battle, Go is a war. Go is played by laying stones on the intersections of lines that form the board, or Goban’s, grid – these are called Moku and represent 1 territory. The two players take opposing sides and unlike chess in Go black goes first but white is awarded a ½ moku handicap, because Go is a game of skill players can be awarded up to twenty stones handicap, and it can be played on three sizes of board. A master might play with a neophyte in a game called Shidou-Go where the point is not to win but to teach. Go is unique in this. Play falls into two forms, Gote and Sente, or aggressive and defensive play, it is generally the player who stays in Gote (aggressive) longest who wins the game. When the board is full (the other way to win is if the other play concedes due to a lack of territory and being unable to catch up) the moku are marked with stones to make them easier to count, the person with the most moku wins. However, again unlike Chess, Go presents the possibility of the Divine Move, sometimes called The Hand of God, a move so out of left field and amazing it turns the game around and takes a player from Sente to Gote. A divine move is considered so rare that professional Go players might go their whole lifetime without one being played – not that they might not see it played against them, but it won’t even be played in their lifetime. Yet a Divine Move might not win the game, it just turns the game from crushing defeat to offer a hope. Understanding Go and how it’s played it becomes apparent how very rare it is. Now, like Chess, Go is rarely played with the move at hand, it’s played as many moves ahead as is possible and between two equals in skill it’s the one how plays that one move more that wins. It becomes a matter of if I move here, he’ll move there, which mean I can move there and he’ll move there and I can then capture that territory for example. A reactionary player will get crushed – speaking from experience. So the idea that Stiles was sat at that Goban playing against the Nogitsune was ludicrous, where a child who knows the moves could possibly beat a chess grand master it wouldn’t happen with Go, and it was a full sized board. I can’t look at the board and say who was winning, I can’t look at finished games and tell you who won without counting off the stones, and until the game is considered complete it can go either way in the placement of a single stone. It’s not like Chess at all in that, so although people could look at the chess board and point out the errant pieces we cannot simply do that with Go, so the point becomes not the moves that are played but who is playing them. Now when Derek rebuilt the chessboard he had seen in Stiles’ bedroom Peter distinctly said “chess was Stiles’ game” and he was right. Stiles admitted in 3a that he could play chess (badly, it was his father’s game) and Go is a game that takes years to master. When Noshiko tried to teach Kira Go Mr Yukimura was able to immediately tell who was who by the style of play and Kira was playing against the Nogitsune – her mother. And that was the final piece I needed, the Divine Move I needed to process the information. Noshiko is the Nogitsune, she always was. A nogitsune is not necessarily evil, it can’t be, it’s not subject to our morality. It is a trickster and vampiric in nature, feeding on chaos, but the only thing that separates a nogitsune from a kitsune is the affiliation to O-Inari. A nogitsune is a free kitsune. Now, a nogitsune is a trickster and because it’s tricks don’t share our morality they might seem needlessly cruel. The old example is if you asked a kitsune (or nogitsune) to make you richer than Bill Gates it would bankrupt Bill Gates so you had more money than him. If a kitsune affiliated with a family saw that the family were poor it would steal money not understanding that this was wrong. Noshiko, in her flashback, incites the riot. Satomi, the wolf lady, tells her that her mischief will end badly but she does it anyway. When the riot happens it gets out of control and Rhys is immolated and Noshiko herself is shot. On the way to death she begs her ancestors to send a powerful Nogitsune but there is no evidence that they did, she merely assumed that they did. Instead Void showed up. It’s quite obvious in retrospect, when the Nogitsune appeared to Stiles it begged him for permission to possess him, but there was no way that it could possess Rhys the same way, it needed permission which Noshiko knew because she offered it to the spirits of her ancestors. So it couldn’t have been a Nogitsune that possessed Rhys, also look at it’s actions, it didn’t play pranks or get even, it slaughtered everyone who came near. There are many shows I would discount it as bad writing but not Teen Wolf, so I just looked more closely. I knew by that point there was a second possessing force, Void, so it was easy to make the leap that Void possessed Rhys, but Void was antagonistic to Noshiko, after all she had trapped it, and this explained why she summoned the Oni to destroy it. We knew it couldn’t be a Nogitsune that was possessing Stiles because of how easily it destroyed the Oni and how easily the Oni had killed the Nogitsune before in Chris’ flashback – therefore it had to be something else and something more powerful – ergo Void. But, we had seen the Nogitsune ask for and gain possession, not once but twice, so we knew that Stiles WAS possessed by the Nogitsune and that the Nogitsune for reasons was appearing as Rhys (looking exactly like the Batman Villain Hush, a character who works primarily on misdirection btw) If we turn our attention back to Noshiko we find inconsistencies, she said she was 900 years old which means she would have 9 Kaiken, she had spaces for 9 in the book but we actually only see 8, the original five Oni, the two she summoned to replace those who were killed and the Kaiken that Void uses to take control of the Oni. So where was the ninth? I think she used it to summon the Nogitsune that possessed Stiles, adoppelgänger form of herself to possess Stiles and she did it to defeat Void. This is where Go becomes important. When Scott and Lydia entered the dreamscape they saw Stiles sitting on the Nemeton playing Go with the Nogitsune, but we’ve already proved Stiles couldn’t play Go against a master, it wouldn’t be a competition, so we have to make the assumption it wasn’t Stiles that was playing Go, that means it was Void. The Nogitsune appeared at the coyote den when Stiles went missing, and this is a good example of the Nogitsune fighting Void. Void wants despair, and by taking Stiles to the coyote den Stiles was meant to die, by alerting Scott and setting up a manhunt it was meant to show them fail. It was only luck that Rafael McCall found him, it wasn’t planned that way, we know that because the Nogitsune asked for possession his exact words “we’re trying to save your life, Stiles.” Now imagine for a moment that Agent McCall had not found him in time, imagine the despair that would have wreaked the town, Scott, Derek, the sheriff would all have lost hope. The brain scans happened before the Nogitsune took possession in the machine, and the cable was doctored before then. If the Nogitsune HAD possession it wouldn’t have needed permission. This is when they start playing Go, the Nogitsune and Void are playing against each other, using Stiles as their Goban. Possessed Stiles went to see Mr Yukimura and caused a fly to go inside Mr Yukimura forcing Noshiko to go to the school to expel it. This meant that Noshiko told Scott in front of Mr Yukimura who urged her to be more honest. But the point of it from Void’s perspective was simple – the sword was broken and couldn't be used to defeat him this time. This would cause despair. This then became the Nogitsune’s move. The Nogitsune knew Kira was a thunder kitsune and could reforge the sword, thus preventing Void’s move and setting up an attack of his own, but it had it’s downsides, Nogitsune knew that Noshiko, seeing the photo, would go to the basement and take the Kaiken with her – thus revealing the Kaiken to Void. Ie the move that Void had put in play to get the Kaiken directly was thwarted but everything was in place for it to get it another way. But with Nogitsune still in control when Noshiko appeared in the basement it used the Kaiken to expel the flies seemingly working for Void but preventing it taking the Oni that early. And although Void could control a corpse – possibly part of it’s idea for killing Stiles – because it controlled Rhys, Nogitsune could create a double so when Scott and Lydia faced it at the nemeton in the dreamscape it did that – which of them made that move I don’t know because it helped both of them – but it meant that the Shugendo scroll suddenly applied. A fox could possess a wolf, but the fox’s fake body was entirely that of a fox and it couldn’t sustain the bite. But look at how Nogitsune acted in the dreamscape, it drove Lydia to the double doors- it pushed her to the solution. The same thing happened in the illusion with Stiles, in pressing Stiles to kill himself it gave him the sword’s reflection allowing him to see that it was an illusion – all without revealing to Void it was working to SAVE Stiles. That was the Divine Move, not that Stiles overcame the illusion, but that the nogitsune managed to play void to the point where it could both be captured and destroyed. The nogitsune’s false body was susceptible to the sword meaning that Void could not maintain it and the sword expelled it, and it did it all without revealing to Void that it was antagonistic. Void wasn’t affected by the bite – but the Nogitsune’s own body was. Nogitsune wouldn’t be affected by the sword – but Void was. It had to be both or Void wouldn’t have tried to escape to be caught in the jar. The victor of the game wasn’t Void who threw aside the pieces in the dreamscape, but Nogitsune who played that many more moves ahead. Nogitsune sacrificed the Oni to get the flies out of Stiles, Nogitsune who led Stiles and Lydia to save themselves. Nogitsune who played consistently in Gote was revealed to be leading Void into the moves it needed to gain final victory. A divine move indeed. And the biggest hint that Noshiko was the Nogitsune was in her interactions with possessed Stiles, and possessed Stiles’ own words. Noshiko recognised Void in the hospital and spoke of it’s choice of host and how it wouldn’t stop her, this was just after Nogitsune had been given possession. It could be argued that she knew because of the killing on the Oni but why wait until afterwards to confront him. Noshiko could play Go. Noshiko was nice to unpossessed Stiles. So we had a kitsune of indeterminate type who had both a vendetta against the force that killed Rhys and could play Go – and then Stiles’ own words – you can’t trust a fox, they’ll trick you every time. It’s unclear if it was Nogitsune speaking here but it is clear that it wasn’t really aimed at Scott at all. If it was Nogitsune it was telling Scott that it would defeat Void and if it was Void it was telling Scott it couldn’t trust Nogitsune – but in reality it was the warning that the fox would always come out triumphant – and that is the moral of Japanese Fox myths = you don’t mess with foxes they always win. The Go game was between Noshiko – Nogitsune and Void, Nogitsune tricked Void and defeated it by showing Stiles how to defeat it and creating the fake body.

This is the Alliance Commander, whose enemies still call him a tyrant, whose old Order still calls him the Hero of Tython, and who still calls himself not enough:
He is two years old when the Jedi take him. He will not remember this, of course – only a handful of memories will linger with him, snapshots preserved in the Force like insects in amber. There’s a woman with eyes the same colour as his, and a beautiful laugh, and warm hands. Then those hands are reaching after him as firmer hands pull him away, and her voice is howling after him until he can’t hear her anymore.
These are his only memories of what it feels like to be someone’s son.
He is ten years old when he breaks down for the first time. It’s one of those days when the Force is just so loud, and he’s feeling too much, sensing too much. Every movement his classmates are about to make. Every insect that’s about to land on the grass. He can’t shut it out and it’s too much too much and then he’s hunched in a ball with his hands over his eyes, and the masters are murmuring to each other. Something about too much precognition with no control.
He curls up tighter. If they decide he’s not good enough, they’ll send him away, and then – he doesn’t know what happens then. He doesn’t know how to be anything but a Jedi.
He cannot ever let this show again.
He’s fourteen years old, and his master is dead. The one person who let him be imperfect, the one person who would lift him up if he broke, and she’s dead. One mission gone awry and she goes with it. But there’s no place for him in the Order if he breaks, so he swallows his grief. Gets the traditional Zabrak mourning tattoo on his back, and carries on under its weight.
He’s twenty years old, and his master is dead again. Light-years away, he feels Orgus Din’s presence blink out of the Force, and – really, you’d think this wouldn’t hurt so much the second time around.
He’s twenty, and he sees a planet burn because he didn’t reach it fast enough. He sees his best friend’s mind and body snatched from her. He fights and wins, and Master Satele calls him the Hero of Tython for it but later he’ll lean against Kira’s shoulder, numb, and say that he doesn’t feel like a hero. He doesn’t feel like anything much, except tired.
He’s twenty-two, and Master Braga thinks he’s good enough – good enough, Master Braga thinks that about him – for the mission that could end the war. He stands alongside his team, back straight, chin up. He faces the Emperor, and he fails, of course.
He fails. He’s twenty-two, and the Emperor slides into his head and –
(He doesn’t really have the words for this part.)
He’s twenty-two and he’s afraid to fall asleep in case it lets Vitiate back in. He goes from planet to planet to stop Vitiate because no one else will, running on caf and duty until he’s sick of the taste of both. He goes to Dromund Kaas, just him and four friends against the Emperor. He faces the man who broke him, knowing the galaxy is dead if he fails again.
He is twenty-two years old.
He’s twenty-five when he falls in love. For all his fine-honed precognition, he didn’t see this part coming. But Theron Shan has a rare smile that was made to be loved, and eyes that look almost golden in certain lights. Theron Shan built his life to the Jedi mould, only to have that mould broken – and then gathered the fragments together. He sculpted his own life to a different shape.
And Zeth feels something jump-start inside him. A wide-eyed little part of his soul that rouses from slumber, looks at Theron and thinks, you are strong, you are brave. Maybe you are what I could be.
He’s twenty-five when he decides, yes, he’ll let himself feel this. He’ll let himself love, and if that means leaving all the broken parts of himself on display, well… Theron doesn’t seem to mind them.
He’s twenty-five when he looks at the Jedi Code, at the rules and the expectations. He looks at the pattern to which he’s cut his life, and says, I think, perhaps, you’ve been a little too harsh to me.
A weight inside him lifts away. For the first time, he feels… enough.
And he still can’t stop Vitiate from eating Ziost. He can’t stop Vitiate’s son from locking him in carbonite, and when he wakes he’s thirty-one and his world has ended while he slept.
It’s probably a bad sign, when you become old hat at seeing your life crumble.
He’s – well, what is he now? Thirty-one years since he was born, but five of those years he didn’t get to live. He’s older, that’s all that really matters, and only T7 remains out of the family he built. Vitiate is back in his head, and that makes him want to curl up and shield his eyes like he’s ten years old again.
But Theron holds him through the worst nights, and there are no Jedi to say a word against it. Lana stands firm at Zeth’s side, and no one eyes him for signs of corruption because he calls her his friend. He hasn’t stopped thinking of himself as a Jedi, but it’s on his terms now.
And at last he looks Vitiate in the eye and says, no. My mind, my life. I will be free of you. I am enough.
He’s older still when the man he loves betrays him. For a few months, he lets it shatter him. Lets himself think, I wasn’t enough, even for him. Then he breathes in long and deep, and decides to take a risk. To believe. To hope. To put his faith in Theron, and in himself.
It’s enough.
He’s thirty-three when he marries Theron on the grass outside the Odessen base, a Zabrak wedding cord tying their hands and lives together. In a few months the galaxy will be at war again, but he’ll go back to the Jedi with the marriage cord worn openly on his wrist, and he won’t be afraid of what they say.
For now, he holds his husband’s hands and protests that Jedi never learn how to dance. Theron can’t expect him to dance in front of everyone, people are looking – but he does it anyway and of course he messes it up, and Theron laughs, and Zeth feels soft and calm and young.
He still, on the worst days, calls himself not enough. But the Alliance calls him a friend and a leader, and sometimes Theron calls him love.
So this, in the end, is the Alliance Commander: a man who lives with his brokenness. And is happy.

IMPORTANT TROS  ( canon divergent ) NOTES THAT  influence my portrayal in all of my TROS threads:
this is not a full framework (yet), but rather a couple of important moments I felt I needed                to clearly write out & present on my blog.  Once the film is properly released, I may consider                writing out a full framework, or leave it like it is, if it solely concerns a few scenes !  Should                you want to write with me, but would like to see a few things adjusted, do not hesitate to                contact me !                          please keep in mind that these notes are my  own  headcanons and ideas                          based on what happened and/or how I would have liked scenes to be played                          out.  I ask that you respect them and do not steal.  I consider these notes to                          be  my  canon.
 ALLEGIANCE TO THE RESISTANCE
As stated in my rewritten TLJ verse, Rey struggled with her allegiance to the Resistance after delivering the droid back to its master.  She had not signed up to be part of it, nor the war, as her sole intention was to return a droid to its master.  The more time she spent with the Resistance, the more she came in contact with the loving and caring qualities of others.  Having been isolated from interactions on the desert planet where she grew up on, she initially watched as she saw Resistance members enjoy and appreciate every day that they were still out there fighting the good fight.   Hope was strong within them, and it was fuelled by love.  Others cared for her        and in return, she started to care for them.  She had formed relationships and some grew to be more than  simply  friends.  Witnessing it all, General Organa had decided to tell her about family; how it it was not always by blood, but sometimes by choice.  The words needed time to sink in, but eventually the realisation hit that she had found family of her own, in members of the Resistance.
COMPASSION
Like we have seen in previous materials, Rey’s compassion goes a long way, but it certainly has its limits.
her compassion  is for two scavengers she knew not to trust, who saw an opportunity and got away with a ship she had restored to its former glory, along with a bit of their help. her compassion  is for the droid with a bend antennae, looking for its master, whom she freed from the clutches of a Teedo. her compassion  is for a defected stormtrooper who told her a lie she believed, was the first to ask her if she was okay, and was not someone she wanted to lose when he wanted to run. her compassion  is for a pilot who might bicker with her, but they both know their lines and the base on which they bicker: love and friendship. her compassion  is for a Wookiee who lost his best friend, and entrusted her with the millennium falcon. her compassion  does not forgive and forget. her compassion  does not forgive her abuser.
DOUBTS
Rey, in my rewritten TLJ verse, had been trained in the Force by Jedi master Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To.  Her skills in using the Force developed through this training, though she still felt vulnerable and somewhat insecure in using them.  Especially with the threat of the Dark Side rising, there was much more at stake than before.  Her  insecurities  increased, and eventually it led her to ask General Organa for extra training, once they had found a new and secure base for the Resistance. Her extra training caused her to be on the ground much more than in the air        where she could have used her flying skills and aided the Resistance in what was familiar territory for her, doing what she could do best        much to the annoyance of some Resistance members.  This annoyance, along with the threat of the Dark Side, Rey sensed that expectations were high, and she felt the pressure from everyone, which she struggled to deal with, as well as her new surroundings that encouraged  team work. Team work was encouraged amongst Resistance members, as they believed it would pull them out of the darker moments and made victories        no matter how small or big        feel that much greater.  Rey, however, had sworn off team work back on Jakku, where she had initially been in service of others.  After a few years, when realising that she knew the tricks of the trade and did not need others to survive, she became aware that she could do the same work on her own.  This  independence  allowed her to keep whatever she got out of a trade, all to herself.   Another reason for working alone was  distrust;  she could not trust anyone on the desert planet, nor see through someone’s genuine intentions.  From that moment onwards, she had vowed to work alone, a belief that had worked its way into her mind.  Over the years, she had convinced herself that she was someone who did not work well with others.  To Resistance members who survived off the strength and support of each other, this vow seemed to be foreign.  The gap between the two beliefs        where Rey found herself and what the Resistance expected of her        had to be crossed, in order to earn her spot in the Resistance.  How else could they trust her, if she did not trust them?   In essence, the thought of  trusting  others was an uncomfortable and daunting one, and the fear of letting them down, exactly when they needed her most,  scared  her.  Rey found herself in a position that was the stark opposite of when she was back on Jakku, where she knew herself and her skills, and relied on them.  It was a dangerous place to be in        to not be able to rely on oneself        and knew this was the sort of thing that could mean death on a planet as harsh as Jakku.  As a consequence, Rey felt uneasy and did whatever she could to strengthen herself in the use of the Force, even if that meant sitting out on missions.
FINN’S FORCE SENSITIVITY
In an ideal story/trilogy, I would have liked to see Finn realising and coming to terms with his force sensitivity around the time TLJ took place.  In my opinion, and the way I write and portray Rey, she would not push him to come forward to her about this.  Instead, she would allow him to do so when he felt ready to share this discovery.  I believe Rey would have sensed his force sensitivity somewhere along the way, and would respond with a simple  “ I know ”  , before handing him her lightsaber to practice with.                for more finn and rey dynamic, see  ‘that lightsaber scene’                at the bottom of the post.
FIGHTING STYLE
Once six-year-old Rey decided to stop working for others, she was no longer able to enjoy the protection of a group.  Others saw her as an easy target, and to survive on Jakku, she had to defend her salvage, as well as herself.  It took time, but eventually the young scavenger started to win more fights than she lost.  Rey would use whatever was available to her, whether that be random items lying around, her staff or her fists to punch with and legs to kick        there were no rules to take into consideration: all was fair in a fight that resulted in either survival or death.  Her reputation grew, and over time others knew to stay out of her way and leave her be.   When leaving Jakku, Rey did not leave her rough and scrappy fighting skills.  Even in a lightsaber combat, she would use what she could to get the upper hand,  rather  than solely relying on striking with her lightsaber.
PARENTAGE
In my main verse for episode IX, Rey will remain a nobody.  The power she wields is  entirely  her own.  There is no one who can answer questions about her parents and there is no hidden mystery behind it.  Rey was abandoned on Jakku as a five-year-old and has had to fend for herself, believing her family would one day return for her.  Instead of them returning for her, she was taken on an adventure when encountering, defending and taking care of a Resistance droid.  Any parallels between other Legacy characters would be  coincidental  in this AU, not hinting to anything more. This darling desert flower child has gone through and survived so much, and she deserves her power to be  hers,  not something she owes someone / a certain lineage. Alongside of  this  reinvented canon for my Rey, I have added an AU that follows most events  ( as they happen in my own canon )  but in which she is a Skywalker.   Way back in 2016, I was inspired by these gifsets  [x]  &  [x]  and started to plot extensively with a specific Luke        because come on... that  IS  the Skywalker strut, and you cannot deny that resemblance  ( both physically and in background ) !  Not wanting to force this parentage onto another mun/muse else, I kept it between the person I plotted with.  We spoke how Rey was his daughter, but he had to get her to a safe place due to the looming threat of the Dark Side.   As mentioned, I kept this between the person I plotted it with,  until now.  Though her parentage has been revealed in The Rise of Skywalker, it is not necessarily one that makes a lot of sense, in my opinion.                So, here’s my  own  headcanon on this matter, that will              influence  my TROS/post TROS verse: For my Rey’s lineage, she is Luke’s daughter and Anakin’s grandchild, given the name Kira upon her birth.  Luke gave his daughter to the “parents” she still remembers leaving her on Jakku.  The reason for this was that he needed someone to take care of young Kira, as his attention would be on training the new Jedi order.  Luke had not entrusted Kira to just anyone, he made sure to select a couple who he had known from the rebellion, people he knew and trusted with his own life.  Eventually, years later, training young Jedis went horribly wrong.  Luke might have managed to get a message out to Kira’s caretakers, mentioning them to be careful, that something was about to happen and to keep Rey safe no matter what.   Given Kira’s caretakers’ ties to the rebellion, they possessed the mentality that, even if tortured, they would not reveal Kira’s location or give her up any other way.  They fought for her survival to the point of them paying the price for it.   Sacrificing themselves for the safety of the five-year-old left Luke and Kira on different places in the universe, with no way for either of them to contact each other.  Young Kira        who over time forgot her name and aptly named herself Rey when inspired by finding a rebellion helmet with the name Raeh on it         still held out for the return of those she believed to be her parents, whilst Luke searched everywhere for his young daughter.  Not having any luck in finding her, he expected the worst and turned his objective to seeking out and destroying the Sith. Skipping forward to the end of The Rise of Skywalker, in my headcanon-y verse, Rey is told the surname of her caretakers        those she believed to have been her true parents        as well as discovering that she is Luke’s kid.  The choice of the surname is hers, and she takes everything into consideration.  She cannot verbally express what her caretakers have meant to her; they have kept her save and protected her, knowing it would lead to their demise.  She considers what Leia and Luke have meant to her, and what her life, stepping into their legacy means        she is given the choice to choose her family.  Her family is the Resistance, and she chooses to attach the name Skywalker to it once and for all. To sum it up,  the lineage for Rey in this AU will therefore be:              Strong force sensitive Shmi    >  Anakin Skywalker  >  Luke              Skywalker  →  entrusted caretakers  >  Rey Skywalker small disclaimer:  as seen in the background story I have come up with for Rey, I am using other characters.  Should you want to write with me, but do not necessarily agree with what I mentioned, please contact me so we can look at the possibilities that could work for us both.
KYLO USING HIS LIFE FORCE ON REY
First and foremost, this is, and  always  will be, an ani-r*ylo blog, as I do not ship someone with her abuser.  Still, my paths crossed with this quote from a pro-r*ylo blog in one of my tracked tags: “he used his life-force to resurrect rey because he loves her and he can't live without her.”  .. ..  . .      f u ck  no.
If I am being completely honest, I think that Kylo opted to save Rey from a selfish, weak and cowardly point of view.   Let us not forget that Kylo has committed genocide, emotionlessly ordered and committed murders, tortured others to gain information and patricide.  He is responsible for the death of millions and time and time again, he has shown no remorse. I believe, which in this topic goes hand-in-hand in regards to Rey’s beliefs,  Kylo saw this as his escape from his responsibilities  ( to own up to his crimes )  and took it.  In doing so, he did a  small  good thing        to be fair, he could have stabbed himself with a lightsaber        but he chose to give his life force to Rey.  Still, I believe it came from a selfish place, as this action allowed him to escape all the crimes he had committed. Important note:  I  do not  believe Rey actually died in this scene, but rather that she was unconscious.  It is a  sickening  thought that she should owe her life to her abuser, and I  will not  allow that to be  my  canon.
REY STABBING KYLO  &  THE AFTERMATH
The scene in which Rey stabbed Kylo with the lightsaber, went a little differently in my head, which is the canon I accept.  During the lightsaber fight, Rey managed to get the upper hand and stab Kylo, just before Leia sought contact with her son one last time.  Rey felt this, too, and  did not  decide to heal her abuser.  Instead, she told him to  live  with the damage he had done and the horrors he had caused.  Rey took Kylo’s ship, which realistically is the only transport off the Death Star, assuming the dangerous waves did their damage to the Skimmer by then.  To clarify, Rey has stabbed and left her abuser with no way to escape off the Death Star.  Rey would still take off, but sent out an emotional message to Poe and Finn  ( most likely to the Millennium Falcon )  before she would be out of reach, in which she explained her reasoning for doing this.  Despite having worked together really well and having faced danger together, that she saw no other way but to set out on her own to finish what others before her had started        to end the Sith.  Rey continued the message by apologising for leaving them behind like this, but revealed not to know of another way to keep them, the family she  chose,  safe  ( in her mind, she acknowledged the fact that she, too, had once been left behind on a planet for safekeeping, ouch ) .  Upon hearing this message, Finn and Poe decided not to accept this, and they head back to base to try and find out where she could have gone. Once back on Resistance Base, Poe sought out the ones in charge of tactics and comms, and Finn headed straight for the Jedi books Rey had been reading up on, remembering her talking about the topics the books covered        and what Luke had been up to.  In accordance to the film, Poe would catch word of Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing showing up on their tactical screen, and it would become clear that it was Rey sending her signal to them.  I reckon that Rey realised, with some  guidance  from Luke, that she could not complete this task alone.  “ You’re stronger when you work together, Rey. ”  The Jedi master had told her, which caused her to turn on her signal transmitter, which she made sure was sent to the Resistance receivers, so that they could track her.  Finn and Poe immediately realised Rey’s intention by doing this.  Convinced team work is the way to take down the Sith, Rey’s actions make my  ‘doubts’  topic on Rey and team work come full circle.
THAT LIGHTSABER SCENE
Given the topic above and my thoughts on it, removing Kylo from the narrative would provide the perfect ability for Finn to put his Jedi training to the test, along with his lightsaber skills he possesses, and take out the Sith  side by side  with Rey.  Should the scene have happened with Finn and Rey, it could have shown their growth from when they faced Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base in The Force Awakens, and now stood opposite of the entire Sith together, to bring it down.   A scavenger and a defected stormtrooper, side by side, with lightsabers that previously belonged to Luke and Leia.  We  deserved  this, and even more so, Finn and Rey  deserved  this.
SPICE RUNNER... POE...
Lastly...  although this is the one note/thought that does not have any sort of connection to Rey, I still wanted to express my thoughts on this.    no .    it is stereotypical  and  racist.  The only way this would be  slightly  possible, would be if Poe used this as a sort of undercover job to gain the trust of a group he had to join to gain intel or something else of value, via which he could have met Zorii  ( who I personally think is definitely nothing more than a friend to him ) .

{kaylee bryant, cis female, star wars} look who is spotted around ha'ina it's kira kenobi. a nineteen year old force-sensitive/sith. they spend their time around ha'ina as a college student. the last thing they remember is turning to the dark side. and people describe them as intelligent, powerful, & conflicted.
for a thousand years; we've been plotting our revenge in secret while hiding in plain sight. and now we're here, and we'll reveal ourselves and defeat every jedi knight. it's time to rise up, it's time to fight back; it's been this way for too long... the dark side and the light it's a battle for your life, who will win and who will fall; who will triumph through it all. give in to your anger; let the hate flow through. or let go of what you fear to lose, and may the force be with you. ~ dark side light side by royishgoodlooks
basic facts:
full name: princess kira suzuki kenobi
nickname: ki, kiki, princess
birthday: august 9th
sexuality: pansexual
occupation: college student
abilities: jedi abilities, sith abilities
canon up to: after the death star was destroyed
+ traits: intelligent, powerful, loyal, & talented
- traits: uncontrollable, impulsive, conflicted, & lost
intro:
kira is the daughter of obi-wan kenobi & yui suzuki. her parents met when her mom was living on tatooine for a few years. her mom knew she would need to take the throne, but wasn’t ready so she went to do some soul searching. that was there where the woman fell in love with obi-wan. though when she fell pregnant she left, knowing that it was against jedi laws to have kids and she never told obi-wan about kira’s existence.
kira was born on a beautiful tropical planet called nalem, where her mom was crowned queen right before her birth. she had a step-father who was arranged to marry her mom and who never really cared for kira since she wasn’t his kid.
her mom never had any kids since it was found out not long after kira’s birth that it was a miracle that she fell pregnant with kira since her mom shouldn’t have been able to have kids. so it meant that kira would always be the only heir to the throne of nalem.
she was guarded pretty heavily since she was young and the empire was growing, her family kept a decent relationship with the empire to protect their home, but secretly helped the rebellion. and because her mom knew she was really a kenobi, that she would be a powerful jedi and didn’t want her to be corrupted.
one day a jedi knight came to nalem for diplomatic things and they met kira and could sense the force in the young girl. they were the first person to learn from kira and her mom that she was a kenobi. so the person trained kira from the age of five.
when she turned sixteen, she found the truth about her jedi master and that they were a sith, who started to show kira the ways of the dark side hoping to persuade her over to it, and soon enough they did. there was so much anger and hurt inside of kira that the pull to the dark side was easy.
anger at her mom for never letting her meet her father, her step-father for treating her like she was a bother and meant nothing to her. the hurt of never knowing her father and hearing about how great of a jedi he was, but not great enough to figure out she existed. and died before she could even see him.
then one day her mom was killed by some empire soldiers who were still left alive, after they found out about her familys betrayal of the empire. and in a quick fit of rage, kira used her lightsaber and killed the soldiers. and that’s what completed her switch to the dark side since she struck her enemies down in anger.
the next night kira left nalem, knowing it wasn’t her home anymore and soon the people would turn on her when they found out who she was. but before she left her best friend tried to stop her, pull her back to the light, but it was too late, kira was manipulated too much and believed what she was doing was right.
after that she arrived in ha’ina confused with how she got here and why. there is still a lot of conflict inside of kira. everyday she feels the pull to the light and just makes her more angry since she doesn’t feel like she deserves to be a jedi.

May, Myself and I - Year 2(020)
Day 23 - Sunflowers
Amy & Rory Pond
Kira & Odo
Gilbert & Anne Blythe
Westley & Buttercup
Gomez and Morticia Addams
Bobby Briggs and Shelly Johnson
Six fictional couples that I would describe as perfect.
See I write a lot of fanfiction - okay most it is about Harry Potter and I rarely expand out into other fandoms - but on the odd occasions that I do I would never consider writing these six couples with anyone else.
Because, as I said, they are - as I said - they are the six perfect couples in fandom.
The Ponds
Rory lived for over 2000 years and several life times for his Amy, and Amy was willing to live and die, to break the universe apart and to rip time to shreds just to stand by his side.
He was utterly devoted to her from the moment they met, and she was entirely devoted to him even if she didn’t entirely realise it.
Kira and Odo
Odo was in love with Kira from the moment he met her, but he never told her, and he never tried to interfere with her life. There are some people who fall in love and become obsessed and try to ruin the lives of the person they are obsessed with, but Odo - he just let Kira go on with her life and let her fall in love and be with the person she wanted to be with.
And when she finally realised who he was, and that he loved her, she accepted it and loved him back and loved him for who he was.
When he was infected by Section 31, she accepted it. When he risked his life to end the war, she accepted it. And when he left to make piece with The Dominion she accepted it.
The Blythes
From the moment she whacked the slate over his head you just know they are going to end up together. If only because it is more of a case of a girl being mean to a boy and bullying a boy which is rare in the world of fiction.
But once they get over the squabbling part and get together they do make the perfect team. They stay together through thick and thin, always supporting each other and always being there for each other. From the start of “House of Dreams” through supporting their children in “Rainbow Valley” and everything that happens in World War One.
And - unlike most of the straight couples you see in fiction today - they rarely fight. Gilbert isn’t a womanising slob who sleeps around or doesn’t like his job and Anne isn’t an annoying shrew who hates her husband. Even after 25 years of marriage they are still as much in love as when she smashed the slate over his head.
Westley and Buttercup
This comes across better in the book than in the film, because in the film it goes suggest that Westley abandoned her for five years and she kind of moved on a little.
But in the book the last line of the first chapter is “’I will never love again.’ And she never did.”
In either case when Westley leaves Buttercup is devastated. And she doesn’t get any less devastated - even after five years, when she is going to marry Humperdink she is still a total wreck.
And from the moment she realises the man who is trying to rekidnapp her is actually her one true love she doesn’t lose faith in him until the end of the wedding, at which point she decides she would rather die than live without him. (That’s not exactly the way I would recommend going in that case, but it is fiction and it does have a happy ending in the end)
Meanwhile Westley spends three years in indentured slavery to come back for her, then risks his life several times (The Cliffs, Inigo, Fezzik, Vezzini, The ROUSES) to be with her. And then he invades an actual castle.
They are willing to live and die for each other.
Wuv. Twu wuv.
The Addams
Gomez and Morticia love each other. They love their children. They love their family. And they embrace it with the gusto that they embrace everything else.
Some people call it weird - I call it true love.
Bobby Briggs & Shelly Johnson
This is the probably the least convincing of the couples :-
They spend a lot of the time arguing,
Shelly is married to someone else,
Bobby is dating quite a few other people,
They aren’t really a couple.
However when you actually look at their relationship they are actually truly in love.
Shelly is devoted to him, and he is truly in love with her and will do anything for her when push comes to shove.
Her husband - Leo Johnson - is an actual verified psychopath and yet Bobby is willing to risk his wrath to be with her. And when she is injured he comes to her.
And - after everything - they end up together. Because that is how it should be.
No one else is suitable for her - she needs the guy she fought for and risked everything for. And he needs her - the girl he fought for and risked everything for.
x-x-x
Six couples from six fandoms that seldom if ever interact. But six couples that all have one thing in common - they belong together and will be together for the rest of time. And no other characters will come between them.
They will - in the end - always turn to each other and end up with each other.
Just like sunflowers turn to each other when there is no sun.

DS9: Sanctuary
I don't think I'd ever seen this episode before! It may or may not be about Israel-Palestine? It went on a bit at the end about how the Cardassians so brutalised the Bajorans that the won't take in three million refugees because they need to think of Bajor first. I don't know if this was about the Palestinian refugee situation, but it seemed like it might be? On occasion the Space Israel thing does seem to wander towards that, most obviously with the Maquis later on. The episode thinks Bajor was wrong but it also thinks they had good reasons, which is a fairly balanced approach all things considered. But it's not really the same, is it? Because the Skreeans never lived on Bajor and there's not what amounts to an ongoing mutual war between them. It's probably just General Refugees? (I did wonder at one point if it was about the Roma, when Quark was complaining about how they have no manners etc.) The anti-immigration argument is always "But then we'd have to look after them and we need to put ourselves first" so yeah spot-on there. But you bring in Space Israel and you bring in Space Palestinians, whether you intend to or not. I liked Kira a lot in this one, I am starting to appreciate that she is exactly the kind of stressed and angry First Officer Sisko can respect and trust. Both are commited to justice and the general fight against oppression. I don't ship them, but I like their friendship. Certainly Sisko seems to have more in common with Kira than with Jadzia, Curzon's memories be damned. Was relieved they did't labour the matriarchy thing, Dax approved which makes me suspect the Federation is horribly sexist and she's lived both sides of it and remains unimpressed. I mean over on Voyager we have Harry Kim completely clueless about how to address a female superior officer, you know? Obviously they don't get to live on Bajor, they go to a previously unmentioned planet and we will never see them again. But they did mention the Dominion, so the arc is starting to appear. Honestly thought that was all in S3, nice to see it this early on, even though I generally don't approve of years long arcs that never end it's acceptable in a closed canon where you don't have to wait for fucking ever to find out where the polar bear came from. So it's okay now. 4.5/5 it's not *quite* there but it's good. Suspect I give it a better score because it was new to me, though indeed some of the twists were a bit obvious. I was really into how boring the first five minutes or so were, where pretty much nothing happened except someone played a space flute and Kira was angry. It was taking its time, I respect that.

Dark Crystal thoughts...
Okay I’m just gonna say it.
Rian’s resemblance to Jen is starting to make me think he’s his father. He even has that shading above his brow and eyelids, that green-bluish color. Same hair color and almost same style. I thought, without a doubt, Mira and Rian were going to be his parents during episode 1.
The dark crystal takes place “some time” before the movie BUT
I can’t find an exact amount of time that has actually been said. “Some time” can mean hundreds of years, or just some years before Jen and Kira were born, making their parents young adults and teenagers.
Jen wasn’t that old during the Dark Cyrstal. He and Kira were easily young adults, possibly even their late teens.  The Gelflings were gone probably only 20  odd years give or take before the Skesis realized Gelflings were still alive. The movie starts out saying  a thousand years ago, the land had been green before the Skesis arrived and the crystal cracked.
The skeksis Emperor just said to Aughra in episode 3 (I’m only on episode five) that they had already been protecting the crystal for the past thousand trine. They've already been there ruling for a thousand trine. And the crystal is already cracked.
If the time between the Skeksis arrival and the beginning of the Dark Cyrstal is a thousand years,  and the skesis have already been ruling in Thra for a thousand trine, could be we’re not that far from Jen and Kira’s birth, and Rian could still feasibly be Jen’s father.
The Gelflings are going to start fighting back, and the war and genocide will soon begin.
I really think (or kinda hope) Rian’s resemblance to Jen can’t be that coincidental.
I also thought it was interesting how Aughra says she needs to find the song of Thra to heal it, and of course Rian is part of this song, these Gelfling needed to help Thra.
In the movie, Jen picks out the correct crystal shard to heal the crystal (and in doing so healing Thra) by playing his flute.

Somebody
The air whipped around the pair as Rey held the lightsaber out to its former owner. The uncomfortable silence weighed heavily between them until the Jedi Master finally approached. Rey watched as he carefully examined the saber in her hand. Inevitably, the cool metal slipped from her grasp into his. The momentary recognition in his face shifted from her to the blade. Rey felt, passively, that the old Jedi had recognized her, that he might have a clue as to who her family was, but the feeling was about the lightsaber and not about her. She tried not to be disappointed. After all, General Organa had told her to find Luke in the hopes of training with him to help bring her son home. It would be no easy task to convince the Jedi Master to help her, let alone learn the ways of the Force to defeat Kylo Ren and his master, the delusional Sith Master Snoke.
“Where did you get this?” Luke asked the mysterious young girl. He senses she was strong in the Force but yet untrained.
“I found it in a box amongst a bunch of junk on Takodana. Maz Kanata was holding on to it.”
After studying the old lightsaber for awhile, Luke clipped it next to his current lightsaber on his belt. Without another word, he walked past Rey, down several flights of rocky steps to the cave he called home.
Rey wasn’t sure what to do, so she followed him. She vaguely remembered stories of the formidable Jedi who had defeated the Emperor. Even as a young child, she could remember her mother speaking of the old times, the Republic, the Jedi, all of it. It seemed like something from a storybook, a dream, yet here she was following the Jedi, who was nothing more than a human male in his golden years. She didn’t know what she had expected, but the inside of the cave was definitely not what she had anticipated.
The interior was clean and orderly, certainly more well-kept than her own on Jakku. It was almost as though he had been expecting company. She wondered why else he would have bothered folding blankets or picking up after himself if he was living in solitude.
Instead of speaking, he went out the makeshift kitchen and poured two cups of tea
She looked around for a moment before her eyes settled on a cushion on the floor where she had a seat. Rey attempted to remain calm, but the long trek up the mountainside and lack of conversation left her feeling weary and frustrated. “Everyone has been looking for you. Your sister, General Organa, and her son Kylo Ren.”
Rather than answer her, the Jedi Master observed, “You’ve already faced a great darkness.”
With her irritation growing, she retorted, “Yes, but that’s why I’m here. I want you to teach me.”
Luke’s expression darkened. “If you’ve spoken with my sister, then you know that I cannot do that. That’s what lead to this problem in the galaxy in the first place. That’s why there aren’t any more Jedi.”
Rey shook her head, unwilling to take no for an answer. Unknowingly, she channeled the light side as she spoke. “It’s not your fault when people make bad choices. I want you to train me, so that together we can face the darkness and defeat it once and for all.”
Feeling that ripple in the Force only led to more questions about her parentage. There was something there, elusive, something familiar, but Luke couldn’t put his finger on it.
“Who were your parents?”
Shoving the question aside, she declared, “We don’t have time for this. The more time we waste, the stronger Ren grows and the Republic will lose more ground to the First Order. They’ve already destroyed The Hosnian System with their superweapon.”
“I’ve failed as my master failed to prevent Vader from falling to the dark side. I can’t do this again.”
“You must,” Rey insisted. “You may have failed in killing Kylo Ren, but I will succeed. I just need your help. We must put an end to him and his master.”
“You have no idea how many Jedi they killed—how many children—“
“I saw it.”
“You were here?” Luke asked, blinking his eyes as if trying to recall her. Was that how he recognized her?
She shook her head. “I’m not sure how, but when I picked up that weapon, the saber, I saw it. It felt as though I was there. It was like a vivid dream—just as I have dreamt of this place, the lake—and I’ve never been here either.”
Luke’s eyes widened at this as he took another sip of tea. “They will be coming for me, won’t they? The Resistance?”
“No,” Rey replied, “I asked General Organa to let me come and I’m the only one with the map. I brought your R2 unit with me. Chewbacca is with the Falcon.”
“And Han?” He didn’t even need to ask. He knew. He had felt it: Ben’s final descent into the dark side and Han’s untimely death. Luke knew that even untrained his sister could have sought him out whenever she wanted to, but had respected his need to deal with everything in his solitude. She respected, though disagreed, with his desire to remain away from the frontlines.
“A Jedi’s place is to keep the peace.”
“And sometimes in order to keep the peace, that means going to war.”
Luke couldn’t help smiling at this. He couldn’t remember the last time that he had smiled. Truly, this was the Will of the Force. “Why do I feel that I will be learning from you, just as you will be learning from me?”
Rey’s eyes lit up. “Does this mean I can stay here with you?”
Luke nodded.

Rey awoke in the wee hours of the morning, her stomach still full from a large meal the night before. She was so grateful to General Organa and the Resistance for providing her with free food, even though it had been hard to eat after Han Solo’s passing. She hadn’t slept so well in a long time that waking up was a little rough. It took her a moment to realize that she was in fact in Jedi Master Luke Skywalker’s bed. She pulled the blanket tightly to her chin and exhaled slowly, finding it difficult to get out of bed. In a sleepy haze, she pieced together what happened the day before and how he had reluctantly allowed her to become his student.
Looking around, she found her boots and figured that he must have carried her to the bed the night before. She couldn’t remember falling asleep, but it had been a trying day. She slipped on her boots, the only item of clothing the Jedi had removed the night before. She then stretched and yawned before looking through the rest of the small cave home. She eventually found the Jedi outside meditating on a cliff overlooking the stormy sea below.  She turned to leave.
“Stay.”
Unsure if it was a command or a request, Rey did as he instructed. She sat down in front of him, crossing her legs and studying him carefully.
“To begin, I want to help you access your memories. Close your eyes and open up to the light side. Feel its warmth washing over you.”
When she close her eyes, Rey felt the warmth on her forehead. It felt like her mother’s hand. She smiled.
“I sense you’re looking for your parents. You’ve been waiting for them to return to you. But you know the truth now, even without seeing it, that they have perished.”
Rey couldn’t help the tears that escaped her lids. Even though her eyes remained closed, she knew the elder Jedi was watching her and feeling it too.
“Who were your parents?” he prompted. “Focus on that warmth. Recall their faces, Recall their names. Remember…”
Rey opened her eyes and she was there in her childhood home before they went to Jakku. She remembered! Her mother was singing softly to her as she protested. “I want to watch the holovid!”
“It’s time to sleep. We have a long journey ahead, Rey.” Her mother continued her song until Rey interrupted her again.
“Can I have a story?” Rey asked.
Her mother’s smile brightened and she acquiesced. “Of course, Rey. Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, there lived a queen—”
“Queen of Maboo?” Rey asked.
Her mother nodded. “Yes, the Queen of Naboo and she had several trusty handmaidens that were her loyal bodyguards.”
“They protected her and stopped the bad guys.”
“Yes, Rey, they saved her life many times, just as the queen saved theirs.”
As though she were an adult in her childhood body, Rey recalled everything now in full detail. The stories flew to the forefront of Rey’s memories. She could remember all the details as if she had heard the story a million times. The Republic, the Jedi, the Queen of Naboo, all of it.

In the next moment, Rey was jolted to the desert planet of Jakku in the middle of a firefight. She huddled with her parents in the home of an old man Rey barely remembered. Her father’s voice broke through the haze, concerned and insistent. “Kira, we have to go. She’ll be safe here. Sorcha and Danren promised to look out for her.”
“I don’t want to leave her, Soren.”
“I will stay with her as long as I can, but you’re a wanted woman. He can sense you. You know this to be true.”
Her mother held Rey tightly, kissing her forehead for the last time. “I’ll come back. I promise. I love you, Rey.”
That was the last time she ever saw her mother.
Rey then recalled the blasters and what she now knew to be the Knights of Ren. She had pushed the memories deep into the recesses of her brain, trying to forget the horror: her father shot down as she screamed and ran for cover. The old man, Danren pulled her away by the hand, forcing her to leave the corpse of her father, seeking to protect her from the onslaught, the massacre that awaited the people of Jakku in their fight against the First Order.
Her memories leapt again to the Danren’s elderly wife Sorcha who wanted to keep Rey, but was inevitably too weak to take care of her. Danren’s injuries from the battle prevented him from providing food. Even at the tender age of five, Rey felt the weight of responsibility and began scavenging for them until the couple passed away.
Rousing from her meditation, Rey’s eyes glanced across the boundless sea. How long had she dreamt of this sea in those years on Jakku, never knowing if it were real. She didn’t notice the tears staining her cheeks until she smoothed a hair behind her ear.
She knew.
She remembered.
Luke patiently waited for the young woman to speak. When she did, her words surprised him.
“Kira and Soren Maberri, Those are the names of my parents.”
“And your mother? I sense there’s something else you’re not telling me.”
She furrowed her brow in concentration, trying to remember everything as it rushed from her consciousness. “Those stories she told me—they were real, weren’t they? They were about my grandmother.”
“And your grandfather,” Luke assessed. He paused momentarily and his voice was like a whisper. “Why didn’t he tell me?”
“Who?”
“Ben—Ben Kenobi,” Luke replied.
Rey wasn’t sure why that name should mean anything to her. “I don’t understand.”
“He was your grandfather.”
“You mean the Jedi Master from the legends… The one who trained Anakin Skywalker—” It was almost too amazing to be real. She recalled the stories, remembered the holofilms. Even in the outer reaches of the galaxy there wasn’t a being that didn’t at the very least know the names of Skywalker and Kenobi.
After a moment of pondering this idea, Rey’s eyes widened, feeling that this was an ultimate truth. He was my mother’s father. My grandmother knew your mother—”
Luke nodded. “I have felt it. It has been a long time since my master spoke with me, but I feel that he has spoken to you.”
“He wanted me to take it,” Rey said, gesturing to the lightsaber. “I heard his voice in my dreams--in the vision. He spoke to me.”
Luke unhooked the lightsaber from his belt and returned the blade to its rightful master. “It’s yours.”
Rey hesitated, glancing at the saber that she felt she had no rightful claim to. “I was scared before,” she admitted. “I tried to run away, but somehow it kept ending up in my hands.”
Rey, these are your first steps.
Rey could hear the voice of her grandfather again, calling out to her as she held the blade in her hands once more.
It was then that the bluish hue materialized in front of her. The man with white hair and a white beard, smiling softly at her. She wanted to run over and embrace him; the kinship pulled her so strongly.
“Hello Rey,” Obi-Wan said, smiling at her with a slight tear in his eyes.
“Grandfather!”
“I sent you the visions of the lake to help you find Luke so he would train you. You will become a great Jedi, just like my former apprentice.”
Rey looked over at Luke, but he was deep in a meditation of his own. It seemed that this visitation was meant only for her. “He’s afraid. He doesn’t have faith that we can defeat Kylo Ren and his master Snoke. He said the Jedi must come to an end.”
“You will be the light that will lead the way, Rey. Have faith in yourself and everything else will fall into place.”
A knot caught in her throat as she struggled to ask, “My mother—“
Obi-Wan’s compassionate smile, though warm also told her the truth without even needing to say it: “Your parents are one with the Force, dear one.”
“Can I see them?” she asked, unable now to stop her tears from flowing.
Obi-Wan’s expression fell. “I’m sorry. I never trained your mother in the ways of the Force. I was too much of a coward. That’s why I felt obligated to train Anakin’s son,” he said, gesturing to the currently meditating Luke Skywalker. “Your grandmother was a member of the Rebellion and frequently ran secret missions from Tatooine. It was on one of those occasions, when your mother was old enough, that they were unable to return home. I never saw them again. After my passing, I knew they were still alive and were safe. From afar I was able to watch her grow up.”
Bowing her head, she replied, “Thank you.” It felt good to have closure. Even if it meant that she would never see her parents again, she at least knew that she didn’t have to keep looking. She could move on. Hopefully in doing so, she would also be able to stop the darkness from overtaking the galaxy.
Obi-Wan reached out as though to caress her face. She felt a coolness touch her cheek before she wiped her own tears and put on a brave face.
“The Force will be with you always,” she heard him say before his shape wavered and disappeared from sight.
She sighed a shaky, heavy exhale, feeling as though a weight had been removed from her shoulders. The mystery of her birth and her place in the world was so much more than she could have ever imagined. She was not in fact a nobody after all, but a very important and special somebody.
