I wonder if the names Hashirama (pillar). Tobirama (door), Kawarama (space between two roof tiles), and Itama (spaces between two slats on a duckboard) are supposed to be some kind of play on words because of the Senjus’ Wood Release. However, I read that it was originally supposed to be a difficult jutsu, not a Kekkei Genkai and it was changed later. Itama is probably referring to the warring period they grew up in since it refers to duckboards specifically. But I think it’s interesting that all of them have to do with building/construction. Even though Hashirama is the “pillar” and represents the beginning of Konoha, his brothers are also “building blocks”. Tobirama is obviously the Second Hokage, but Kawarama and Itama also had a profound effect on Hashirama and his vision for Konoha.

THE POTENTIAL GROOM (part 1)

You were on your way to Uzushiogakure, The Land of Uzumaki clan, along with the founders of Konaha,- Hashirama, Tobirama and Madara. The purpose of the visit was to establish a peaceful alliance between the Konaha and uzumakis. As the representatives of Konaha for the marriage proposal sent by Princess Mito, you and your companions were discussing the potential groom. You expressed your confidence in Madara’s qualities, “I’m sure she will choose you, brother Madara.” However, Hashirama’s younger brother, the white-haired Senju, was quick to respond with a counterargument, “Who said she won’t choose my brother? He’s more than capable.” He replied with a calculated and stern tone, not saying it directly to you but it was meant for you. "Yeah hashi-kun is nice but according to a woman's taste I know she will choose Madara." You hoped to start an argument with him and annoy him as much as possible. You were attracted to his stoic personality. He narrowed his eyes listening to your baseless argument. But you knew his competitive spirit.

Tobirama’s voice had a hint of annoyance when he replied, “I don’t think it’s appropriate to make such assumptions without knowing the princess’s preferences.” You could sense the tension between the two of you rising. You couldn’t resist the urge to provoke him further. “Oh, but I’m more than confident in my brother’s capabilities. Are you not?” you asked with a smirk. Tobirama’s eyes narrowed as he replied, “I am confident, but there’s no need to make assumptions when the results are already clear. She will choose Hashirama.” You could swear you saw him smirk as he spoke. “Wanna bet?” you challenged him. “I’m not afraid. The loser will have to call the other ‘superior’ to him. What does that sound like?” he replied with his usual competitive spirit.

As the two of you shook hands, you knew that this bet would only add fuel to the fire between you. But for now, all that mattered was who Princess Mito would choose as her groom.

As Hashirama and Madara discussed the benefits of the alliance, you walked through the lush green forest of Uzushiogakure. The beautiful red flowers that marked the symbol of the Uzumaki clan caught your eye. Tobirama, on the other hand, seemed focused and calm. You asked him what this marriage meant to him, and he replied with a clear and concise answer, “It’s an alliance to form peaceful relations, nothing much to think about.”

As you approached the palace, you couldn’t help but feel awestruck by its magnificence and elegance. The combination of red and pink flowers adorned the palace, further enhancing the pride of the Uzumaki clan. Servants stood at the entrance to receive everyone, carrying a sense of dignity and a bright smile with their red-colored hair.

As you walked beside Tobirama, you couldn’t resist the urge to make a joke. “They all look like tomatoes,” you said with a chuckle. Tobirama gave you a “shut up” look, but you could tell he was amused.

As you entered the room, your eyes were drawn to the beautiful pond adorned by lotuses. The water was so clear that it seemed like you could see right through it. The lotuses were in full bloom, their petals open wide as if they were welcoming you to this serene place.

You couldn’t help but feel awestruck by the beauty of it all. You wished that this wasn’t a formal meeting so that you could take a tour of the entire palace and explore every nook and cranny.

Just then, a woman dressed in a white flowing gown entered the room. She was stunningly beautiful, with long red hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall. You immediately recognized her as Mito Uzumaki

She smiled warmly at all of you and greeted you.

I would love to hear more about Orochimaru Naruto from sannin swap, How has learning about his family changed him? Does he seek to be closer to the Uzumaki, his clan that no one told him about? Does he hate Minato for making him a jinchuuriki? What are his goals? Does he seek revenge against Konaha? Or does he find Uzushio, think of the pain he has been put through and other have been through due to the shinobi world and decided to destroy it?

Aw man idek 🥲 I'm still figuring out what exactly he'd be after in that sasunaru role swap - I think it'd be similar.

Honestly it could be all of those! I don't think he'd particularly hate Minato for that, as much as the rest of the village for continuing the way they treated him for it.

I want to say he'd go after his Uzumaki roots, but also don't believe he'd be much of a "research and gather info" type of ninja, though he could learn that from his time with Orochimaru.

I do love this option of him finding about Uzushio and deciding on destroying all those who destroyed his "past" (his clan and his childhood) and so turning against the shinobi world. I can see this working. Him against the kages, getting help from the other bijuus/jinchuurikis (insert evil talk no jutsu), destroying the main villages with the powers we know Kurama has....

But maybe... just maybe. He could find something finally worth of redemption? Maybe finally meeting his mother and hearing her different point of view, team 7 never truly giving up on him...

"good god this is boring" shikamaru said slightly surprising you. you were both at some new safety precaution debriefing given by lady tsunade, but you could tell your colleague was disinterested. as per usual. you grew up with shikamaru & you've had missions with him previously, and worked with him to bring sasuke back (which failed). but everytime you two interact theres always been conflict. he didn't seem to like you, which was okay because you couldn't stand him

"why are we just now asking people for id as they enter the village" he mumbled some more "that should have been implemented in the first place..." you decided to cut in on personal conversation...with himself. "you'd think they'd start after the whole orichimaru situation." you snickered, his eyebrows furrowed. "now i've got people in my business...what a drag." you looked him up and down given him the meanest stank face he'd probably ever seen. "excuse you asshole, your business is pretty fucking loud!" you said now whisper shouting. shikamaru just rolled his eyes and went back to paying attention to the meeting, which was rare.

after the meeting adjourned, you walked around the streets of konaha absentmindedly, you were all caught up on paper work and had no missions for a while so you had time to fuck around. "hey you" you heard a familiar voice shout from behind you, well at least his version of shouting. "what!" you yelled in response not even bothering to look back. "hey i'm talking to you, don't make me run." shikamaru said, which you decided to ignore as you continued to keep walking...until you couldn't. you look down at your feet, seeing how the sun was placed perfectly behind you to make you easily fall victim to shikas shadow posession jutsu. "oh give me a break" you sighed "WHAT DO YOU WANT". he finally released you and caught up to you, smirking.

"look at you, making me do all this work." he said with a hint of something in his voice you couldn't pick up. "well our previous interactions haven't been so pleasant so i was just saving myself from a headache" he found that amusing, rolling his eyes playfully. 'wow this is the first time i've seen something from him other than a scowl.' you thought. "you wanna go out for a drink, i figure we should discuss some of the new rules in place." you suddenly felt a blush come across your cheeks. "shikamaru, if you want to ask me out just say that, no need to be coy" you playfully hit him and giggled. "asking you out pshh. i just take my work very seriously". you blankly stared at him, all signs of amusement gone out of your face. "okay i don't even believe that, just let me take you out for a drink pleaseeee" he begged. it felt nice to see a different side of shikamaru, one that actually cared about something, and it seemed like that something was you. maybe one little hang out wouldn't be that bad.

"okay fine whatever sure, but I get to pick!"

tbh i think that even without the cursed seal and the reveal about the massacre, sasuke defecting from and turning against konoha was inevitable. it's easy to convince yourself that u need to completely cut off your bonds with konoha for revenge when all konaha (the institution and the people) has ever done done is dehumanize and retraumatize u. this, along with sasuke's refusal to accept injustice, is why i dont think role reversal aus where sasuke stays loyal while naruto defects make sense
