Korean Name Generator

I created a (superior) Korean name generator for the writers out there.

I defeated my long, long problem of not being able to call anything from a database. (clap, damn you. lol)

http://www.polyglit.com/koreannamegenerator/ It generates a complete given name, surname, clan, and gives you information about them if there is any info.

Unfortunately it’s 4100 clans and I haven’t gotten to given names yet. (I’m on 172nd clan)

And translating from Korean to English is difficult since often the bon’gwan info has hanja which don’t translate well (So then I have to take rough stabs).

The upside is that you get more info than your average Korean name generator.

I used it a few times when I got stuck for minor character names.

Yeah... and once the 4100 clans are in order I’ll change the Family Name database over to the new database and then it’ll be even better.

It’ll have dates, etc. And then figure out how to do given names. (or just use the erumy (not my website, but I hijacked the url with some code) links at the bottom for now). Edit: There are 4100 clans. The records online from the SOUTH Korean government only date up to the year 2000--there is no way I can reach the 4100 clans. Some of the clans are brand spanking new. Again, research instead of blind take it. Depending on your needs, you might want a newer clan or an older clan. Be sure to check the dates. BTW, don’t do the a-hole thing of saying that a clan started in 2000 is “not really Korean.” They are Korean and might have also married Koreans, you don’t know.

I need to make a Korean name for my oc for a fic (okay, maybe not NEED but I want to because it’s fun) but I have ZERO idea how names work in Korea and I don’t want to have a totally weird name that is improper and stupid

The name will probably only be used once because I’m planning to make a nickname for the character that they’ll prefer to go by but anywayss

Jung Yohaji (Anheum if it’s appropriate) (중요하지 않음 is what showed up in google translate as well, it’d be nice it know if this is right too)

According to Google and DeepL translate, it means unimportant or not important

Is there a better name for something around the same meaning? This was honestly the best I could come up with using free translators (and Idk if I can even use just the actual words for a name, because you definitely can’t in English)

I changed my name.

My original Korean name is Yi(李) Min(珉) kyung(庚). It means a jade stone in the seventh celestial light from Yi family.

( the 7th celestial..is rooted from the asian astrology called SAJU.)

But now it changed to like this:

Yi(移) Min(民) kyung(鯨)

means an immigrated whale!

This new name reminds me of the vast ocean and a free big fish swimming in there.

Haha I love my new name!

It's just nice to see this kind of positivity again and remember the great things that this server can bring to people all around the world. I'm really excited to see more of them once the server gets back up and running at 100% again (I also cannot WAIT to see how YD and Kong interact with Chunsik)

There are two ways you can think about the shows that louis and lestat go see in iwtv and theyre not mutually exclusive but like 1. as louis narrates the interview in dubai he is specifically inserting his own intertextual references for the audience's benefit. bc he's well read and insane. and like actually in the past they went to see like. idk operas and plays that werent about failing patriarchs as well and he's just focusing on these ones to subtly mock lestat. or 2. lestat was genuinely routinely taking louis to see like a doll's house on wednesday and a kate chopin reading on thursday and sitting there happily eyeing debutantes like a horny goldfish wondering why his marriage is dissolving while louis, possibly literally playing his servant, is next to him losing his mind
