Stocking Stuffer 1/5: A Bajillion Random Painting Recolours

Happy Holidays to all! While I'm proud that last year I finally managed to achieve a longtime goal of sharing a full TS2 Advent Calendar, I'm simply not gonna be able to pull it off this year. Nonetheless, the holidlay spirit has encouraged me to finish up and share a couple of things before the end of the year! I'll be sharing five little gifts over the next few arbitrary days. First up: A BUNCH of Maxis painting recolours.

One recolour each of A/B/C Stroke (yes, I still enjoy playing with these as three separate paintings) using vintage matchbook covers designed by Saul Bass for The Ohio Match Company.

Two recolours +frames for Abstrutionism; "Poppy Cake" by Adolf Fényes (1910), and then this edit of Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth (1948) to include Bella Goth (the original Tumblr poster has deactivated).

A recolour of Anonymous Masterpiece with these two digital paintings by user chestnutroan featuring their farmer Sim and his two alien daughters.

One recolour of the Arghist Soldier with "Friday Nights" by Deborah DeWit (2006), perfect for your novel-enthusiast Sims' reading nook.

One recolour of City Skyline with a fruit & veg painting by Twitter user snail_soup (you can buy a real print of this too if you like it!)

One recolour of the Fourth Element wall scroll with "From Stardust to Stardust - Raccoon" by user ArtOfMienda.

Four Vegetables recoloured with four deliciously juicy tomato paintings by artist Leah Gardner.

Geometry 101 recoloured with a beautiful palette knife painting by Lynn Boggess.

Two recolours of Grilled Cheese (you all know what Grilled Cheese looks like, c'mon); one vintage ad for Hollywood Diet bread which I cleaned/redrew to remove text/graphics, and then "Cloud Rows" by Ivan Eyre (2004).

In The Beginning (+frame) recoloured with "Little Thief" by Courtney / Trash Kitty Art (also available as an affordable IRL print).

One recolour of Marketing Print with the Beatles as drawn by other Beatles. I don't remember who drew who because I'm actually not much of a Beatles fan but I thought these sketches were really darling.

I fell in love with this Guinness ad so I tweaked it from the photo to fit on the Route 66 poster, then made an accompanying Simlish option.

Round 1 will be posted between Friday, November 10th and Thursday, November 16th. It will be split between 4 sets, each set being posted on a different day. There will be a total of 128 participants (32 participants in each individual set) divided in 64 polls (16 polls in each individual set). Okay! So now that I’ve met all most of the Sun Haven romance candidates, I’m gonna make a post about my thoughts for my friends and followers so I can decide who I’m actually gonna marry in this game.

Long post under the cut!

Lucia is pretty rad! She’s got a lot of confidence, but isn’t arrogant or rude, which I really admire. So far she doesn’t seem that interested in romance, though, so it’s hard to see her as a marriage candidate. She’s still in the running!

Liam and Lynn are both the sweet and shy type, which is nice, but... not that interesting to me as a romance option. So I think I’ve eliminated them from the running.

Anne fucking rules but she is a capitalist, so it’s a no from me.

Catherine is very sweet and also is a hot bunny lady, but I haven’t gotten to know her that well yet. Still in the running!

Nathaniel is adorable. We love a true knight. For some reason I’ve been racking up heart points with him really easily, too. Definitely a contender. Look at that beard.

Jun is the town counselor, and he is overwhelmingly sweet and sincere at all times. I do dig the goth vibe, especially with the earrings. A contender.

Okay I’m still not sure if Claude is meant to actually be a vampire or just looks like one. Either way I’m into it. A contender.

I love Kitty’s design, and the fact that her hobbies include getting stuck in trees and eating raw fish. We stan. However, she ends every sentence with “nya” and I cannot deal with that. Not a contender.

Wornhardt! All I know about him so far is that he’s a doctor. Probably not a contender unless he does something interesting soon.

Darius! Rude asshole prince. He sucks. Definitely a contender.

Donovan. Lives in a sewer which is not ideal, but he is an absolute bro, so he’s a contender on that alone.

Xyla. Hot demon lady who keeps calling me a sewer rat. Definitely a contender.

Iris! I only interacted with her once. Her tattoos are cool. I know nothing else about her. Weirdly femme for someone who lives in the woods. In the “maybe” category.

Vaan! I also have only met him once so far. Also has cool tattoos, also in the maybe category.

Wesley. He is an elf and he is rude. Probably not a contender.

Kai! I found this guy washed up on the beach. He has no memories. Definitely a contender. Just look at him. Hot snake man.

Vivi! I realised partway through making this post that I actually haven’t met this character yet. Oh well! I like her design, so I’ll leave her as a maybe.

It's not just 7400 10 to 14 year old child-mother victims, it's a minimum of 14,800 newborn to 15-year-old victims, plus anyone who'd try to help them who'd be subjected to prison and/or the death penalty all in the names of Jesus Christ, the Almighty Abrahamic God of the Jews/Hebrews, and the Holy Spirit of the Almighty Abrahamic God of the Jews/Hebrews. That's not honorable, sacred, or patriotic, that's godless tyranny. That's self-indulgent terrorism and it's undeniably anti-American.

Both Poppy and Holly love horses. I feel Poppy would have a pet lizard and Holly a pet bird. (Note: I thought the long-hair twin was Poppy and the other Holly. I personally like my way better.)

Holly is bi but she ends up with a girl at the end of the show. I'm not sure who, but I don't want her to be another fairy tale character. Just a regular normie. I want them to have Jackie Lynn Thomas and Chloe vibes. (her girlfriend from SVTFOE) I want both of them to have cool dyed haircuts with similar fashion taste. I can also imagine Holly wearing a long grey beanie at the end. With a matching scarf and black heeled boots with magenta jeans and a purple shirt with bracelets.

Maddie's favorite thing to do is paint tea cups. She wears these funny goggles that make her eyes look big lol.

At Wonderland High (I think that's the name) Chase was the nice popular guy that every girl had a crush on EXPECT Lizzie. Alister is more of the handsome quiet kid the other girls have a crush on too. Bunny gets jealous lol. She used to have a crush on Chase too and Alistair got jealous! (Kitty had the biggest crush on him but now she sees him as some annoying guy. He totally teases her a lot to annoy her. He SOMETIMES makes her blush.) Anyway back to Lizzie, he sort of wonders why and tries to talk to her and get her attention and after a while, she just becomes used to him and they become friends. Neither of them has ever had a crush on the other. Courtly was crazier than Kitty! She was stalker creepy obsessed with him! She thought that he and Lizzie were dating so that's why she hates her so much! And other reasons...)

I want a scene after the dragon games where Apple is talking to Blondie and sees (she's not really listening b/c come on! It's blondie! She's probably just asking her questions and rambling) Darling takes her hair down and Apple watches her and in her POV it's in slow motion and stuff and she ends up blushing and looking away.

I want an episode right after the Dragon games. The first episode of the new season. And it's all about Darling! Her whole childhood! (she's narrating) What it was like growing up, how she views her brothers, being an only daughter and everyone expecting her to be a perfect lady her whole life, her first adventure, when she first meets Apple, (They were 7 and she and Daring were having a playdate and when the brothers were arguing Darling took her hand *They both blushed :)* and led her out into the forest and showed Apple her secret hideout! It's a tree house and they spend the whole day there eating the apples from the tree! That's when Darling started to have a crush on her!) I bet she knows about Headmaster Grimm's brother way before Maddie, her first trip to Wonderland where she met Bunny and Alistair and they become friends and go on crazy adventures, Everything up to the dragon games where she kissed Apple.

The Source Of My Snobbery

My voice teacher (of two months) wanted me to sing Un Moto Di Gioia as a recital piece (before my performance anxiety and commitment-phobia got the better of me). Several performances I looked to as reference points are still coming up on shuffle a year later. My showerhead's ears are bleeding. While rehearsing (before quitting), I kept thinking of Tom Hulce and tried to make my version uhh joyful? Sprightly? A smidge on the ironic side with exaggerated winks at my non-existent audience? Embarrassing. Glad I chickened out before the public humiliation phase. Je Crois Entendre Encore quiets something in my ribcage and leaves me in a fugue state. Hey, have you heard Bach's Ricercar? I checked out this CD from the public library in elementary school and it's still embedded in my neurons.

Jottings from Jeannie: Calming Advice This can be a frantic time with ending of the school year, graduations, celebrations, as well as changes in the economy that have us digging in the bottom of our pockets and purses every time we make a purchase to come up with extra cash. An old adage advises "change what you can and learn to accept that which you cannot change." Accepting less than we expected requires a practicing some learned skills. 1) Close your eyes. Gently massage your temples as you slowly breathe in and out. 2) Search out your household pets that your have been ignoring. Kitties & puppies need loving, and petting them will calm you down. 3) If you can't change a troubling situation, alter the way you look at it. Maybe a happy solution will take longer-- or maybe a solution is developing that will dissolve the problem like a popped bubble! Hey! You Sultans of Salem! You Tinker Bells of Tamassee! To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Optimism helps us hope toward a future, and treat trials as temporary situations that we can get through. Optimism is strength to push on rather than give up. I search and find optimism through God’s promises. LRM

ASHTON RECALLS: Here is more of Pauline Kelley Cannon's story: DAR SCHOOL STUDENT FROM 1942-46 RECALLS EXPERIENCES - (Tenth Installment of Pauline Kelley Cannon's Memoir). . .Meanwhile, a new school building was under construction right across the road. It had much more room for classes than the old building. . .When it was finished Mr. Cain made a movie of us moving the desks, tables and other furniture. We were so proud of that new building. . .Some of the high school teachers were Mrs. Allie Crouch, typing; Mrs. Dendy, librarian; Miss Timmerman, general science and biology; Miss Murdock, algebra and home economics; Mrs. Dupree, music and Glee Club; Miss Hester, English; Mr. Dupree, literature; and Mr. Riehle, shop. . .The grammar school classes were taught by Mrs. Cain, Miss McCrory, and Mildred Carter. . .I am not sure I named all the right teachers in the right classes. . .The last two years I was there--the third and fourth years--my job was serving tables three times a day and making sure the girls kept their rooms clean, brushed their teeth, took their baths, etc. They would always have excuses why they didn't have time to get it all done. . .THE THIRD YEAR, Mr. Dupree and Miss Murdock carried the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts on a camping trip to Camp Sleepy Hollow, located off Highway 76 just below Chechero Church. That night we hiked into Clayton, Ga. to see a movie, "Forever Yours," a love story. . .After the movie Ernest Cannon asked me to walk back with him. He had been dating a girl by the name of Pearl Pelfrey, but they had broken up for some reason I was not aware of. The next day when we were returning to Tamassee on the bus he saved a seat for me, and from that time on we were sweethearts.--TO BE CONTINUED NEXT WEEK

Any questions or more information contact Darlene at 864-710-8758 Salem United Methodist Church: Message this week as we celebrated Ascension Sunday, where Jesus returned to heaven 40 days after his resurrection leaving his disciples to be witnesses, eye witnesses, to the mission of the Gospel. We each are called to be a witness to what God has done in our lives as we deal with trials. We all need to share our own eye-witness experiences of how God has helped us and been present through the valleys of our lives. Acts 1: 8b “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

PRAYER: Help us know our trials empower us to be true witnesses for others to see Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen
