being able to cry around you: charles has a bad habit of bottling everything up. it was three months into your relationship when he had a particularly bad race, a stroke of bad luck. he was met with pats on his back and mutters that he would do better. numbness flooding his veins, they did nothing to ease the anxiety in his chest. he met your eyes across the room and watched as you stepped closer. with extended arms, you'd told him to let it out. never once has anyone ever told him that before, and so he had instantly broken down, exhausted from having to hold it all together. there was nothing needed but your presence. he sobs messily into your shoulder and the next morning, he had wished that he'll always have you around.

when he realised you knew him better than he did himself: "how did you know?" were his first words, when he came home one night, only to come face-to-face with a pair of Airpods on the nightstand, addressed to him. he had sorely needed a new pair after losing them on the plane but hadn't had the time to purchase them. "because i know you" was your answer, beaming up at him from the side, where you were preparing dinner. you had missed the deep look in his eyes, rambling on; first his sister's wedding anniversary present in the coat closet, then the watch his father had wanted mended for a while now all fixed. and there it was: that was the moment where carlos finally understood the fluttering in his heart.

shared comfortable silence: your boyfriend loved people, befriending strangers and great conversations. it all came easy to him, possibly due to growing up a middle child, he mirrored a little ray of sunshine. but as much as he adored socialising, lando found that he equally enjoyed quiet time with you, especially on lounge chairs by the beach while you flipped through your book, absolutely taken by the words. lando admired the expression fluttering across your features with each passing page. something strange settled in his tummy as he continued staring, something he could only allude to how peace might feel like. perhaps this is how life was meant to be lived, he thought.

sharing tattoo meanings: lewis has had a lot of art done on his body over the years and he's proud of all of them; memories and meanings forever part of him. with the orange glow of your nightlight at 3am, he watched as you traced the patterns on his skin, telling you stories and what each of them meant. you had soaked up the words, mesmerised by the deep lull of his voice as he opened up his heart to you. never has anyone been so interested in him as a person, all they wanted to know was his career and business and he appreciated it. to you, he was just a man — someone you wanted to know more about.

his pets greeting you: as the provider for his cats, he expected a touch more loyalty from the feline beings. still he remained seated, fixated on how jimmy and sassy nuzzled at your calves, the warmth of their tiny bodies against his legs previously lost. the silence was broken by the sound of grocery bags tossed on the kitchen counter as you stooped down to scratch their fuzzy chins. a light purr emanated from sassy while jimmy rolled over, also meowing in a bid for attention. his heart strangely light, he watched you indulge them like the spoiled brats they were. was it because of how much love was within you or the care you held for the things he held dear? either way, max couldn't tamp down the urge to cross the room and wrap you in his arms, much like you did with his pets now, the three little words in the back of his throat.

✦ °. — plot: your husband has been away due to racing season so when your two year old vocalizes on the phone how much he misses him, he takes a break from his breaktime to come see his two favorite girls.

✦ °. — warnings: none, lando + reader get emotional, really cute like tooth rotting (wc: 902)

✦ °. — mars’ mind: i had this exact dream about lando a few nights ago and really really wanted to write about it before my head exploded

it was slowly getting late as you stood in the kitchen washing up dishes from dinner, while your daughter lily sat in the floor playing with her toys. your phone started buzzing, you looked at it and saw lando was trying to facetime you. you hurried to dry off your hands and swipe to answer.

“hello!” lando beamed once your face appeared on the screen. “hi my love” you smile, propping yourself up against the counter on your elbows. “how are you doing?” he asks, its was bright out, he most likely was just now leaving the track he just raced on.

“oh i was cleaning up from dinner” you pause, “i watched your race, did good today im proud of you!” the praise made lando smile from ear to ear, he got p4 which isnt podium but still something to be proud of. “maybe that why i did so good, cause i had my lucky charm watching me” he giggled at his own remark, even made himself blush.

you walk over to your daughter, sitting on the floor next to her. “actually, you had both of your lucky charms!” you smile, showing lily the phone. lando’s face lit up and he waved at her, “hi darling!” he chimed.

lily reached out for the phone, grabbing it from you and holding it comedically close to her face. “oh okay i guess its her phone now” you joke, smiling at her. “hi h-hi daddy!” she seemed as if she wanted to reach out to him through the phone. lando giggled at just the pure sound of her voice.

“hi there princess, did you watch daddy race today?” he asks. she doesnt say anything back she just nods her head. “i-i miss you” her little voice and her pleading words made your bottom lip stick out in a pout. “aw you do? well daddy will be home soon okay darling?” lily nodded, turning her attention back to her toys and dropping the phone on the ground.

you grab the phone, standing up and walking down the hallway to the bathroom. “well i guess she didnt want to talk to me anymore” he jokes before pausing to take notice of your face. the lines around your eyes and your nose turned pink and eyes watery. “whats wrong baby?” he plead. “i dont know” you shrugged, laughing at yourself for getting teary eyed. “for some reason the way she said she missed you pulled at my heart strings a little bit” you smile.

“i know mine too a little bit, made me feel a little choked up” he smiled. “we do really miss you over here though” you got somewhat serious with your statement. “i know honey and you know i’d be on a plane to you right now if i could but my body desperately needs a break”

you nodded, you knew he was right. it wasnt gonna be like this forever but for the small amount of time that it is, it sucks. “i know baby, and its okay, you know i want you to prioritize yourself right now” you smile, at him. “okay, ill let you get to bed soon, kiss lily for me too okay?” you nodded, sniffling and wiping your face. the two of you exchanged virtual kisses before hanging up, allowing you to get ready for bed.

the next morning was the same as all of them, morning shower, then making and eating breakfast and then cleaning up. lily had just gotten cleaned up and you left her in the living room watching tv so you could brush your teeth. you stood for a minute, looking at yourself in the mirror poking at all of your insecurities you’ve had your whole life.

suddenly you heard lily yell “daddy!” you assumed maybe lando had called you and she got to the phone. “lily honey is daddy on the phone?” you called out walking down the hallway. there was silence, no talking from lily just complete silence. “lily?” you called out again.

you stopped in your tracks when you reached the living room, there stood lando in the doorway, holding lily tightly in his arms as she giggled. “oh my god!” you smiled, lost for words as you ran up to him throwing your arms around his neck. “hi baby” he laughed at the sheer force in which you threw your body at him with. his free arm wrapped around your waist, holding you at the small of your back.

“what are you doing here?” you ask, placing both hands on each side of his face. “well obviously i needed to see my two pretty girls” he smiles, smothering lily with kisses, making her burst into a fit of giggles, slowly sitting her back down.

the both of you watched as she quickly ran back over to toys. you turned your attention back to eachother as you connected your lips, which was the first time in a week but felt like years. “no really why are you here? you need rest and you what, get on plane and choose to lose sleep?” you mutter.

he shrugged his shoulders, smiling at you, “i meant what i said, i wanted to see the two of you, plus i’ll get my sleep eventually.” you felt emotional again, you always felt emotions stronger when it came to lando for some reason, you just couldnt understand how you had gotten so lucky to be with him.

How about mafia lando where it’s arranged marriage at it’s starting stages. You care for him but don’t want to show it yet because you haven’t gotten to that stage yet. One day when he comes home your moving around in your sleep having a nightmare about him. And when he wakes you, you cling to him and he comforts you 🫶🏼🫶🏼

A/N: Any reason to write mafia Lando is a pretty damn good excuse for me

"Here," You whisper handing him his tie as Lando smiles at the end of the bed and starts to tie it. "I'll be gone till late again," Lando adds finishing it off. You nod, moving off the bed and straightening it.

Lando looks down at you and smiles, reaching up to touch you but you move before he can unaware of it. Lando drops his hand and smiles, shoving his hands into his pockets. "What are you doing for the day?"

Lando wasn't like others, he wanted you to have your own life. Granted, he wants you to be safe but still, to live. This relationship started off different, an arranged marriage for the Norris Mafia to forgive your families debt.

But, he wanted you to be safe, cared for, and do whatever you want while keeping that mutual respect for one another. "Um, probably try out new recipes, read, hang around." Humming at your answer he goes to step up and hug you from behind but you head to the bathroom grabbing some of his hair gel.

There was an important meeting and you knew he didn't like his curls bouncing around. "Come here," You called and Lando smiles, a little beat in his step. There was nothing he loved more than your hands moving through his hair.

He didn't like it when others touched his hair, but something about you touching him had him melting into your touch like a kitten. Sitting on the toilet as you take a little bit of gel and start to push back his curls.

Lando tries so hard to resist the urge to place his hands on your hip and place his face on your stomach and enjoy this small little ritual you have everyday. "There will be food in the oven, still warm for you when you get back." Lando is pulled out of his trance by your words and smiles.

"I know," He stands, and yet again denies the pull to kiss you as he moves away from you. "See you tonight."

Coming into the house, he smiles at the lights lining the hallway. You always left the lights on for him, so he wouldn't be coming home in the dark. Just like you said it would, dinner is in the oven and still warm.

Taking it out, he grabs a fork ready to start eating when he hears something break in the bedroom. Freezing for a second his body moves on its own as he races towards the room. Pushing the door open he stops seeing it was just a water glass that had fallen over.

"Fuck, scared me." He whispers, going to pick it up but stops when you make a noise. "Mh, no." You whimper flailing your arm. Lando's head snaps up quickly as he sees you start to twist and turn, face drawn tight. Getting closer he sees the tear slip down your face.

"Please, kill me. Not him." You gasp. Lando doesnt think twice and climbs onto the bed and moves his arms around you. "Y/n, dove? I've got you." He whispers kissing your hairline as he pulls you closer. Your moving around stops, and he feels your muscles relax in his hold.

Closing his eyes, he hums and enjoys the weight of of you in his arms. He didn't care about pretending anymore, he wanted you.

Hi im bored here is a breakdown of the color palettes for (most of) the 2024 f1 grid:

The many men of deep winter:

There are four deep winters on the grid, as follows:

daniel ricciardo, yuki tsunoda, lance stroll, & carlos sainz

my thoughts and feelings regarding these people and their palettes:

the fact that lance's race suit (and fernandos but we're not there yet) fit in their palette makes perfect sense, im convinced this is an element of aston martins driver selection process (look at how his skin is GLOWING!!)

yuki and daniel ALSO have team colors (the white and navy) that match their palettes, but daniel plays with color a bit more outside work.

the autumns of both soft and deep:

there are seven autumns on the grid, as follows:

soft autumns: fernando alonso, oscar piastri, & george russell

my thoughts and feelings regarding these people and their palettes:

like i said for lance we love nandos race suit being in his palette.

oscar's papaya *kind of* fits but he doesnt wear much other than his white tshirts outside of that sooo papaya photo it is. the teensy bit of blue on the polo needs to be the base color for him to glow

george actually dresses to his palette veeeery well. he sticks to his light neutrals, im picturing him and carmen at wembley this year (their hunt people for sport outfits specifically)

my thoughts regarding people and palette:

lando you can do so much more for yourself. lando the papaya matches you perfectly (unlike closely for oscar) but outside of that wear some PURPLE PLEASE. theres a reason your skin is glowing in the new quadrant announcement video because it is your COLOR.

what’s love got to with it? who needs a heart when a heart can be broken (what’s love) but a sweet old fashioned notion

the quadrant parties were infamous on campus. night-long races filled with beer, various drugs and drywal-shaking club music. their ringleader fancied himself as a dj, but lando norris was a Jack of all trades and master of none.

well, except for the f1 trade. that seemed to be going pretty well for him. he was by far the most successful member of the content house.

“babe, you have to start leaving the house! a party will be good for you! I’ll be there, and ria is going to be there. you know us.” her roommate had postured, doing everything she could to get y/n to drop the textbooks for a night, to shed the skin she hid behind.

social anxiety was a bitch, and she didn’t want to deliberately put herself in a situation where it would be amplified.

see: quadrant party. party with bad music and wall to wall people and frat boys who would take the piss out of a girl like her.

but alas, here she was, in jeans and a tight fitting top that had a deep neckline. phoebe had spent ages one her makeup before the girls left, but not even a little bit of peach smirnoff was easing her nerves.

“phoebes!” ria bish shouted, pushing through the crowd to make her way towards the girls. “I’m so glad you and y/n could make it!”

“ugh; it’s so nice to see you.” phoebe chirped. “have you seen niran?”

ria rolled her eyes, pointing to the dj table, where a decently drunk lando norris was spinning a kygo remix of a whitney houston song. phoebes boyfriend niran was dancing next to the table, sunglasses on upside down and a bottle of vodka in his hands.

it wasn’t long before phoebe had abandoned y/n for niran, but not before asking y/n if that was okay. against her better judgement, she told phoebe that she’d be fine on her own.

which is how she ended up sitting in a couch in the living room nursing a fruity drink that ria made, listening to the bass of a pitbull song shaking the houses foundation.

“is this seat taken?”

she barely looked up from her drink, popping one of the floating strawberry slices into her mouth. “britian is a free country, is it not?”

she heard the couch creak, felt it’s weight dipping as the man sat down next to her. “forgive me for asking, but you don’t really look like you’re having fun.”

“that’s not really a question.” she chuckled as she looked up, staring at a Greek god of a man, with a chain dangling from his neck and a man’s of curly brunet hair around his head. “I just really don’t like parties.”

“what are you doing here then?”

“my roommates boyfriend is in quadrant and because I’m such a good friend, I came with her.” she smiled, running her fingers through the dyed strands of her hair, resting her body against the back of the couch. “you know they played this song at prom and I was like, the only kid in the room who didn’t know it.”

the man laughed, throwing his head back, curls flinging around his head. “how do you not know pitbull? everybody knows this song.”

“when kids my age were listening to pitbull, I was listening to ac/dc. I could sing ‘you shook me all night long’ from memory but I could not tell you who sang ‘time of our lives’.”

“there’s no way!”

“I’m being serious! don’t even get me started on the whole my chemical romance phase I had!” she laughed, reaching for a handshake “I’m y/n.”

“clement.” his hand was soft and warm, and he smelled like dior cologne. “care for a dance?”

laughing, she took clems hand and allowed him to pull her to her feet. she wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol talking or if she was genuinely comfortable with the man in front of her, but she felt like she was walking on air as she threw her arms around clements neck, laughing like a maniac.

they talked to each other every day after that. even if it was something as simple as clement sending her tiktoks and instagram reels when she was too busy to talk. every time her phone buzzed, her heart jumped for joy.

and that scared her.

“what are so smiley about?” phoebe asks, passing through the dining room on her way to the wide open kitchen. “is it a certain french someone from the party last week.”

y/n’s eyes sparkled as she laughed, trying to hide her phone screen from her roommate. “fuck off.”

clem: are you free this weekend? I want to take you out, do something fun.

“he wants me to go out with him this weekend.” she was blushing rapidly, her face an unflattering shade of red as she tried to tell herself he means just as friends. because clement novalak couldn’t possibly want to be more than friends with her.

“I think you should go.” another voice sounded

"niran?" y/n coughed, choking on her glass of water. "what the fuck are you doing here?"

phoebe and niran shared a look, and she groaned as niran began to answer. "i've been here since about three yesterday afternoon. i'm shocked you couldn't hear us, actually."

"that is disgusting, i hate you both."

phoebe shook her head, crossing the living room to sit next to her roommate on the couch. "sweetie, clement is so eager to spend time with you, and you've been chasing someone who puts in the effort for ages. i know you're scared to let people in, but clement could be good for you."

"i know, but look at him and then look at me, phoebes. there's no way that he looks at me like that."

niran laughed. "yeah, you're way prettier than he is. out of his league as well."

she sat there with her warm phone clutched between her hands, the charging cable still hooked up to her computer as she looked at the blinking cursor.

she couldn’t just leave clement hanging.

y/n: I need to get away from this paper anyways…how does 2pm sound?

clem: it sounds perfect, see you saturday 😊

saturday quickly arrives, and with it is anxiety about every part of the day. clement never told her where they were going. what was she supposed to wear? should she shave her legs (and bikini region) again even though she literally did it three days ago? should she put on red lipstick or just gloss? were they going out as friends, or with the potential for something more? her nail polish was already peeling off, but she wouldn't have time to touch it up.

"stop overthinking this" she mumbled to herself, her spotify romantic mix belting out eric carmen's 'hungry eyes' as she held three different skirts up to the mirror in her closet. eventually, she settled on the mint green gingham, but with her white vans as opposed to a pair of sandals. keep it the right amount of casual and not.

clement arrived at the small bungalow at exactly five minutes to two. phoebe answered the door, ushering the Frenchman into the living room.

"y/n!" phoebe called up the small staircase. the bunglaow was backsplit, but the four stairs up to the bedrooms only ever seemed to cause someone to trip over their own feet. "clement is here!"

"the walls are thin, you don't need to be that loud!" y/n screamed back, spritzing a cloud of bath and body works spray in the air. she didn't own a proper bottle of perfume, but a whole shelf in her closet was packed full of half filled bottles from bath and body.

she rushed down the stairs, a canvas bag from waterstones over her shoulder, hair neatly pinned back in a white plastic clip. casual.

clement was floored at how nicely she cleaned up. yes, she had looked super hot at the party, but this was different. this was a gentle elegance that capitalized on her long legs and soft face. she wasn't wearing nearly as much makeup, her face simply dusted in glitter eyeshadow and lip gloss. no mascara, no concealer or foundation.

clem thought that y/n was naturally stunning.

“wow” he says, getting up from the couch and wiping his sweaty palms on his white chinos. “you look great.”

“thanks” she said shyly, fingers playing with the beads on her bracelet. “are you ready to head out?”

“you kids have fun!” Phoebe shouted behind them, watching the couple leave through the front door. there was no doubt in anybody’s mind that she was about to call niran, as she usually did when she was the only one in the house.

walking down the cobblestone drive, y/n raised her eyebrows. “you drive a maserati?”

“what’s the point of having money if you don’t know how to spend it?” clem laughed “I’m shit at f2 but at least the pay is good.”

“if you’re as bad as you say, why do you still do it? you have more than enough money to take the time to decide what your next move is.” she slid into the car, marvelling at the leather interior.

she still drove a 2010 volkswagen.

“the adrenaline, I guess.” clem shrugged, gunning the engine. “guys like us, the circuit is all we’ve ever known.”

as clem pulled away from the house, the steep crackled to life, music shaking the speakers in the inside of the doors.

“we’re you listening to nelly furtado?”

“of course I was. maneater is a banger.”

everything with clem was so easy. she felt like she could be herself around him, singing out of key, making small talk (she hated small talk, always had to think too long about her answers), and not trying so hard to be perfect.

this could be something, clement novalak could be the guy that she was looking for. and that thought scared the shit out of her.

she’s only ever been on her own, she only knows how to be independent.

clement decided to take her mini golfing, something slower paced and low key. something that friends do. friends.

he was being nice to her because he was a nice guy. at least, that’s what y/n thought, anyways.

“you can tell a lot about a person based on their favourite animal. I like alpacas. mainly because they’re lazy and fluffy and have weird faces. is that weird?” she mused, hitting the small pink ball into the hole.

clem had been an angel the entire time, offering to hold her bag, take her instagram photos and even buy her ice cream afterwards (although he wouldn’t let her eat in the maserati, understandably)

they’d been out for just over three hours when clem brought her home, shania twain on the radio. he lingered in the driveway, turning the radio down as shania crooned about how good it felt to be a woman.

“I had a really great time today, y/n.”

she smiled, gathering her belongings and getting ready to leave. “so did I. thanks for doing this.”

as she began to reach for the door handle, clem pulled her back. he leaned across the console, brushing an errant strand of hair away from her face as he parted his lips.

she hasn’t expected him to kiss her, but she wasn’t complaining, moving her lips in tandem with his. she used to be so scared that nobody would ever want to kiss her.

it was only when Clem’s tongue brushed against her lips that she saw sense, drawing back from the man in front of her.

“I should head inside.” she said softly, face flushed. “I’ll call you.”

she dodged his calls for the rest of the week. ignored the tiktoks he sent her, didn’t answer his messages. she was scared. the butterflies in her chest almost made it hard to breathe around him. how could someone do charismatic, so perfect, fall on love with a girl like her? clement novalak could have any girl he wanted. why her?

after seven days of unanswered calls, clement took matters into his own hands. armed with a bouquet of carnations and a paperback agatha christie, he knocked on her front door.

“you fucked up, you bloody idiot.”

“yes, thank you phoebe. I am well aware of my shortcomings as a romantic partner.” clem rolled his eyes. “where is she?”

phoebe sighed, stepping away from the door so that the driver could come inside. “please don’t take the last week personally. she’s not used to be chased after, and you probably came on to strong when you tried to make out with her in a car worth more than what she makes in a year.”

“I really like her.”

“tell her that, not me. she’s in her room, just up the stairs and to the right.”

when clement pushed the door open, she was sitting cords legged on her marble bedspread, her laptop on a folding plastic platform in front of her. she had her hair clipped back, headphones in her ears while she sang ‘dirty deeds done dirt cheap’, staring intently at her laptop. clement knocked on the door, the intrusion causing her to jump.

“clement? what are you doing here?”

“I brought you flowers. and a book.” her offered, passing her the bouquet and sitting next to her on the double bed. “I wanted to apologize for whatever it is that I did the other day that scared you off. I really like you, y/n. I think you’re funny and smart and wonderful and I think it’s a dann shame that no man has ever told you that before. at the same time, I’m honoured to be the first.”

“I’m so new to this, clem. and I’m scared I’m going to fall so far in love with you and then you’re going to leave and I’ll have nothing left.”

clem shook his head, taking her hands in his. she smelled like summer, like hibiscus and vanilla. “I promise I’ll never leave you, okay? not unless you want me to. I want to know you, y/n. the good, the bad, the nerdy and awkward. I want it all. I want you.”

“can we take it slowly? baby steps, just while I find my footing.” she asked him softly, wide eyed as she fought the urge to kiss him again, to get lost in his touch.

“we can take it as slow as you need, princess.”

she smiled, taking a chance and gently kissing him on the cheek. “take me out for dinner? I’ve been working all day.”

clem laughed, pulling her in to a tight embrace, dropping a kiss on her hairline. “I think we can do that. I know a great greek place.”

“you remembered?”

“I remember everything when it comes to you.”
