My entry into Johnica Week 2023, “Those Crazy Notions”, is here! This is a oneshot fic based on the prompt “Selecting a Book for the Children”.

November 1985: John and Veronica are enjoying a romantic evening at home despite their recent marital strife. Their intimate time is interrupted by a sick Laura, whom they discover has a rather…unusual attachment to her books.

⚠️Content Warning: There are several mentions of vomit and the act of vomiting in this fic, though I tried not to be too graphic. If you’re squeamish consider yourself warned.

Thinking about Laura Lee inviting her teammates to attend church with her before nationals, expecting not a single one to show (after all, why would they? She sees the way they roll their eyes and snicker when she suggests a pre-game prayer) but to her absolute delight, not one, not two — but four Yellowjackets show up to mass.

Lottie is the first to show up, and she’s not sure why she’s there to begin with. Raised Protestant and even then only nominally, religion has never exactly been her cup of tea, but Sunday morning she finds herself dressed and in the church parking lot before she knows what she's doing. Laura Lee nearly tackles her with a hug when she finds the lanky brunette milling about the vestibule nearly 30 minutes early; the deacon's daughter, Laura Lee eagerly reserved a pew in the front center for herself and any teammates that might show. Lottie feels increasingly at ease as the bubbly blonde gives her the rundown of what to expect, but when Laura Lee takes her hand halfway through mass for the recitation of Our Father, Lottie's heartbeat is so loud that she would've sworn it was ringing off the rafters.

Nat follows shortly thereafter, sheepishly ducking into the church and quickly crossing herself with holy water from the font. When she notices Lottie’s quirked eyebrow as she slides into the pew, she shrugs and explains “I was raised Catholic,” but doesn't add that she hasn't been since she was a child whose prayers for the violence to end went unanswered. Laura Lee’s quiet parish is much different than the boisterous Italian-American church she grew up in, but the rituals are the same regardless. She looks a little out of place in an old dress she borrowed from her mom and her leather jacket over it, and (what she considers to be) a touch of eyeliner but despite the judgmental looks of nearly everyone around her, she's entirely sober for mass. She does, however, line up for a taste of dry red communion wine even though she vaguely remembers something about needing confession first — it may be a sin, but she sees it as a well-deserved treat.

Shauna and Jackie arrive together (as always) with the stragglers only minutes before mass is supposed to start. They actually got there before Nat, but sat in the car for nearly 20 minutes because Jackie was dragging her feet about the whole ordeal. When pressed about why she even wants to go, Shauna says she has a renewed interest in the “tragic saints,” but she really just thinks it’s a good idea to double down on the latter half of pull n’ pray. Jackie eventually concedes when Shauna plays the God forbid we do something that I want to do for once card, and tries to make it seem like it was her idea to go in the name of "promoting team unity."

Jackie prays for Jeff to break up with her before she has to break up with him; Lottie prays that the butterflies in her stomach, born of forbidden feelings, will drop dead. Shauna, who still doesn't quite know how you're "supposed" to pray, steals secret glances of Jackie with her eyes squeezed tight, kneeling next to her in the pew, and feels a wretched pit of guilt opening in her stomach as she recalls just one of ten commandments: Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Laura Lee is the only one who prays that the team will win nationals, but even she knows the New Jersey state champion Yellowjackets don't need divine intervention to come out on top. After all, her biggest prayer of all had already been answered.

However, if there are any changes that you would like to make to your characters at this point, please contact us so we can help you! This can include, but is not limited to:

making significant changes to a character (backstory, bio, etc.)

dropping the character.

Because we are not accepting new writers at the time, we are very strongly encouraging all existing writers who are considering picking up new characters to fill wanted connections. Help each other out! We do ask that rules be followed for pick-ups, as usual. (Diversity, regularly replying to starters, active within the last 48 hours, etc.) During this interest check, I will accept any day of the week.

The deadline for this is July 31st, with unfollows for every character/writer that has not interacted with the post on August 1st. We will also be conducting an activity check on August 1st, however, so even if you have liked the post, if you haven't posted within 2 weeks, you will still lose your role, and if you haven't posted within 1 week or haven't followed activity rules (starters, inconsistency, etc.), you will receive a warning. Please interact and post as usual during this time.

Realized if Johnny and Carmen’s new baby is a girl and they do name her Laura after his mom that Johnny’s 3 kids names are actually going to match the names of Queen’s bassist John Deacon’s first 3 children which were Robert, Michael (the English version of Miguel), and Laura. :) Also knowing Johnny’s a Queen fan, as are the writers, if that happens with the names it’s going to make me wonder if that was intentional. LOL

Message about what I have been going through (Need to Vent this out):

Ok, a lot of people on my YouTube career have been giving me a lot of negative vibes and I am gonna do a prep Talk and discuss why I don't want to be associated with these people on YouTube or any other social media because I have trust issues with them and they remind me about the people who I will have to talk about as we are here.

1. The first person I need to bring up is Laura Mocanu, Laura has been stealing other people's artwork and it has been pissing me the hell off because I was her victim apart of her art theft bullshit when she stole my bang Design from my hedgehog when I was making designs of my character but with Good mixtures of my own hairstyle and apparently Mocanu has stolen my hair designs and I decided to not share any of my Artworks online because she is apparently still doing it which I cannot take the risk anymore and will say to Laura Mocanu is to Leave me alone and stop other people's arts and stop being a groomer to fucking adults even your a 16 years old Minor who wants to be sexually abused. So as for that you're blocked and I never want to see your face ever again.

2. The second person I want to bring up is SuperMarioWilliam. William Schall has attacked me and bullied me on YouTube since August 2020 over a project me and Fionn O Connor @foc2006 had created for the first time as a movie Career Actor. He has harassed me and Fionn far enough to the point that Fionn had enough drama and decided to leave YouTube. It was a terrible tragedy for him to leave. William was overlapping me with an actor request and Me and Fionn decided to call the acting requests off the hook and William didn't even get the part and still got mad and angry over my Career because I have more content than he does because William's content is trash and disgusting for me to watch so I had bad histories with him and I had to block him off after he harassed my friend Fionn and so many others I cannot recall. But I just want William out of my sight and two I saw what SuperMarioWilliam looks like in RL and he is a grown ass man who pretended to be transgender which I am disgusted and two I even kept all of his proof videos against me when he said he's a the good one which clearly he is a bad guy towards me. So I'd say he's trying to get attention for fucking views. Even worse is Aries Morgan (Her Now Ex Girlfriend) cut ties after the drama happened and they both never talked ever since which I was happy it was over for them. But when I got attacked by him in 2022 he still didn't learn his goddamn mistakes. So my other Boyfriend, Mason Deacon has to dox him and get him into serious trouble and he pussy out and hasn't came after me ever since. I'm glad that taught him a lesson. So as for that, he is blocked and never to be seen on YouTube ever again. Good riddance.

3. The third person I want to bring up is Nathan Kissel (My Ex Boyfriend)

For people that know about Nate, he was a good guy at first and had a good time with me and my friends especially with my career and all. But apparently I was told by one of the individuals saying he was grooming children behind my back. And yes this is true it really did happen. And two, when we started dating in 2022, he had gotten me into Rule 34 and made me the horniest bitch among all people in my group, it spreaded towards my career and I dunno what I could do at this moment but all I wanted to say is, I'm done with Nate and I wished I never met the guy.... I despise the man.... I even lost my other friends because my old actions that really effected me like a virus. So as for that I had to leave a few communities I was a part of and was never to be seen again because of him making me look like a joke. So I'm done with this drama and I am done, so as for that, I have officially blocked Nate and I don't want to be near him ever again Case closed.

(That is all I can say for this case there is more to come by tomorrow so keep an eye out for more victims on my list tomorrow Stay tuned)

this is set up sorta like the permanent companions pages on the fandom wiki. tommy has all the same information, such as a companion quest, likes and dislikes, etc. This is written as if she’s in YOUR game.

Her Backstory:

Thalia was born to Milo and Rachel Kingston into the Kingston Caravan, a fairly successful group of traveling traders made up of a single family: the Kingston family. There were only six members at the time. Milo, Rachel, and their newborn Thalia, as well as Milo’s brother and his family. Blaine, Laura, and Alyssa. They traveled back and forth between the Commonwealth and Capital Wasteland almost weekly to do business in both Diamond City and Rivet City.

It was shortly after Thalia was born that the Caravan got assaulted by a group of Raiders on their way to Diamond City. This left Thalia, a newborn, alone in a wagon on the streets of Quincy.

That is, until she was picked up by a Brotherhood Initiate and their squadron and taken to Diamond City. An old lady named Miss Holl took her in and raised her.

Of course, no one in Diamond City knew this poor child’s name, so she grew up nameless. The kids in town called her the Little Toy Maker because she always seemed to be finding things to make toys out of. But not to play with — to sell in return for enough money for noodles and firearm lessons from Aurturo. Her best business was the Brotherhood Of Steel kids that would come in town to stay while their parents were on missions.

She stayed with Miss Holl until the elderly woman died in 2279, when she was eleven. After that the little nameless girl sat at the gate of Diamond City, begging people to take her with them as they left.

Most everybody ignored her or declined until one special teenager found her. His name was Zeke, and he was leaving Diamond City out of dissatisfaction as well. He was nineteen at the time, and lonely, so he agreed to take her with him on his travels. The only belongings she had were a few caps and a Hot Rodder magazine. During their travels down south, she never stopped talking about the car stories in the magazine, about a man named Thomas Fletcher who painted his car pink. And that’s where the name Tommy came from.

And Tommy moved into an old Red Rocket with Zeke, and together, they formed the Atom Cats.

Inventory:

Tommy Carries two legendary weapons, a shotgun called Amelia and a Sniper Rifle called Jackson. She always wears her Atom Cats Jacket and Jeans, as well.

Companion Swap Dialogue:

Ada: (kindly) “take good care of them, oh, and bring me back some nice scrap, will ya?”

Cait: (judgmentally) “try not to get them in too much trouble, yeah?”

Curie: (sincerely) “good luck on your research!”

Codsworth: (playfully) “keep them out of trouble, eh, codsworth?”

Danse (post-BB): (warmly) “they’re all yours, danse. i know they’re safe with you,”

Deacon: (seriously) “i’m telling desdemona I wasn’t invited to the party,”

Dogmeat: (kindly) “take good care of them, boy!”

Gage: (nervously) “maybe keep the raiding down to a minimum, yeah? …no?”

Hancock: (judgementally) “maybe try not to get them as high as the prydwen this time,”

MacCready: (kindly, seriously) “please come back in one piece. both of you,”

Nick: (kindly) “this pre-war relic is all yours, valentine,”

Preston: (confusedly) “you know you can have a little fun when you’re traveling, right?”

Piper: (kindly) “how’s the paper going?”

Strong: (nervously) “ha..have fun? I think?”

X6-88: (nervously) “take care of them… sir…”

Dismissal Dialogue:

“Alright. I see how it is,”

“I’ll be right here when you get back,”

“Don’t party too hard if I’m not invited,”

Loves:

Saving Paladin Danse, joining the railroad, joining the Atom Cats, getting Billy home in Kid in a Fridge.

Likes:

Modding weapons and power armor, helping settlements with the minutemen, completing railroad quests.

Dislikes:

Using drugs or alcohol, refusing to help people, asking for more money, pickpocketing, stealing.

Hates:

Joining the Brotherhood of Steel, killing innocents, letting Paladin Danse die.

Other Companions:

Tommy likes Deacon, MacCready, Gage, Danse, and Nick. She is neutral toward Dogmeat, Preston, Piper, Curie, Codsworth, Ada, and Longfellow, and dislikes Hancock, Cait, X6-88, and Strong.

Companion Perk:

Her perk is called Coolest Cat in the Commonwealth. It adds more sniper rifle and shotgun mods to the player’s weapons workbench and a few more power armor mods, in addition to giving the player a discount at the Atom Cats Garage, Railroad HQ, and Diamond City.

Companion Quest:

Tommy, much like Nick, has multiple companion quests.

The first is called Taken and it begins when the Sole Survivor returns from the Institute with the holotape. On that holotape is some very sensitive information — that Tommy was kidnapped from Diamond City when she was 10 (by McDonough) and taken to the Institute, where they made her their first organic prototype cyborg. She has implants in her brain that don’t allow her to injure other Institute employees, as well as many other advanced parts that have contributed to keeping her alive in many deadly circumstances.

The Sole survivor also learns that the prototype failed, and Tommy’s human nature took over: allowing her to kill Institute employees again. The failure of her systems made it impossible for the Institute to contact the chips in her head, which meant they couldn’t transplant thoughts or retrieve them from her anymore. This meant, while the Institute had no power over her, she still possessed the biological systems that kept her body alive, and all of the technological expertise that comes with being part robot. That’s why she knows so much about technology, and has survived so many close calls.

After the Sole Survivor learns this, they must track Tommy down to the roof of the old north church, where she’s sitting, drinking a beer.

They must pass two easy speech checks and one hard one to convince Tommy that she really is herself and not an institute spy. If the Sole survivor doesn’t have the appropriate charisma, they can substitute Deacon in their place, who will have a similar but slightly different talk with her.

Once the talk is over, it will initiate Tommy’s next companion dialogue. If they player has the appropriate affinity with her, it will also allow them to romance her. She gives them her shotgun, Amelia, with or without romancing her.

The second companion quest of hers is called The Fall of Kingston Caravan, where you go on an adventure to find her parents. It starts at the Cambridge Police station and takes you to Oberland Station, Augusta Safehouse, Nuka World, then finally the Libertalia, where her parents are leading the huge gang of Raiders.

Tommy gets mad and yells at them, then leaves with you. Completing this quest will prompt a conversation about it and then her next companion dialogue.

Hostility

Tommy turns hostile when you attack the Railroad, Atom Cats, or her parents.
