WIP snippet

I was tagged by lovely @cilil, thank you so much!

I have begun to write Lightbearer again although it's still a slow process, and here's a little snippet from the next chapter:

The following day, Celebrimbor travelled back to Tirion and sought a private audience with King Finarfin. It was the best he could do after Aulë refused to help him. Finarfin greeted him with a sympathetic smile. He took Celebrimbor to a patio in one of the palace gardens where they could have a private discussion without too much formality. When they got there, blood-red sunset coloured the western sky. Every now and then, earthquakes interrupted them, shaking the hill of Túna and the foundations of the city on it. A cloud of smoke rose from the old town, and Elves were shouting something about the fire. It was not a normal day in Valinor.

The earthquakes felt suitable for his mood. It was far from a normal day in Celebrimbor’s life, as well.

“Lord Námo took Mairon and they simply vanished!” he explained the situation to Finarfin as they strolled along the garden path, side by side. “Aulë says he’s in Mandos now, and that there’s nothing I can do. But you can! Please, uncle, my King, I pray you: help me get Mairon back. You can put him in the prison of your castle if it’s captivity the Valar require. But not in Mandos, where I can’t be at his side! Not in Mandos! Please.” After this speech, Celebrimbor burst into tears.

Finarfin had listened to his pleading in silence. Now he stopped and turned towards him; his eyes were full of worry. “There are no prisons in Tirion,” he said weakly and offered Celebrimbor a handkerchief.

“Then build one,” Celebrimbor said with a challenging look after he had wiped his eyes and nose with the beautifully embroidered cloth.
