Here’s a throwback to a winter photoshoot almost five years ago now. It’s been a while that I cosplayed Loki but Marvel has taken a backseat for me atm. While I enjoy watching the occasional movie, the only character besides Loki that really convinced me was the Moon Knight who shortly went on my cosplay list as well. But Loki is done for now. I still got a lot of photos to post though.

#this post is about the loki watch advert at the back of the new immortal thor comic #like yeah sure just slap a clip art of the helmet on the watch face who even gives a fuck anymore #theyve not even TRIED to do anything interesting with the hands or the notches round the face or even the shape of the watch itself #the numbers arent even all the same size #actual fucking travesty it makes me want to design my own just to spite whoever came up with it

Listen, I need to get something off my chest, and I know this is going to be filed as the most unpopular opinion in the entire Loki fandom but I need to say it:

Loki’s helmet in the earlier movies, the ones with the huge horns, it’s fucking ugly.

I hate it. I CANNOT take it seriously. If I was in that universe and saw that fucking helmet, I’d get murdered on the spot for insulting him. Me in Germany, seeing that grand speech and all? Only thing I’d be able to think about is how fucking ridiculous that helmet is.

I’m sorry, I know this is a criminal act in the Loki fandom but I needed to tell someone and I’d rather not get slaughtered so anon it is.

I can’t be the only one thinking this right?

One of life's great questions on a weekend I see.

You have a valid point, and I for one will not chastise anyone for their costume preference. It is ostentatious and garish but it's very theatrical and Asgardy you must admit.

Having said that, I feel that his helmet in Thor 1/the Avengers had it's pros and cons. The curvature to his bone structure and brow is exquisite...every inch a fancy Prince.

I'll be honest, it's his eyebrows that piss me off in Thor 1 more than the helmet. WHO WAXED HIS BEAUTIFUL BROWS. the audacity. Anyway. Back to the helmet.

For me it lacks a critical element of his Loki-Ness. His hair. And for that reason, I personally favour the later iteration of the helmet with the half covering. More him. I feel like the designers realised it was a missed opportunity for his hair acting. And no way he could pull off this move with that other thing.

I've always felt that on a practical level, the horns are kind of ridiculous. But then, all of their helmets are meant to be ridiculous and theatrical and pompous caricatures of their Asgardian status and personal lore.

Better horns than little wings, that's what I say😂🤘

I know some people are really happy about Verity making it into the Loki show... but like... none of her character is there. She's supposed to be Loki’s best friend and the loki show just took her name and slapped into onto a preexisting character for the easter egg. I love B-15, but she’s the cop that brought Loki in, and has no special interactions with him outside of that, it doesn't make sense.

Where did Loki's horns go? Imagine if Odin or Frigga did something to prevent them growing as they put on the glamour on him as a child. ... and then Loki suffers from these phantom headaches... and the phantom feeling of those horns that never grew made him choose a horned helmet.

if there was 1 item of their outfits that they had to keep on them while bared otherwise naked the recognisable option for Thor would be Mjolnir and for Loki it would be his helmet.

#we can discuss this #i'm open to hear any suggestions otherwise #when i was thinking of this i was trying to figure out what part of Thor's typical outfit is the most important to him #but then it turned into what single outfit item on a naked Thor would still identify him as such #and it HAS to be the hammer #if Thor had nothing else on but was holding the hammer it would be clear #Thor's helmet is not the recognised feature #which is fair because it's his weapon #but then you switch over to Loki and the clothes are pretty vital #but the daggers wouldn't help because they're not THAT unique #so it's got to be the helmet because apart from the lovely complex outfit coordination he gets with his armour #the helmet he doesn't even wear most of the time would pick him out #the bros could both be absolutely naked and these are the determinate final factors to their physical characterisations #that is the conclusion i came to #this says a lot about them #very symbolic etc.
