End Credits
Heads up: I'm probably going to stop with the outline, but if anyone wants to take it and make an actual fic, or a modified version of the movie script, or anything like that, be my guest! I'd love to see it, I just have too many wips already to actually get into the fic part. :)
Any other suggestions on things to change in this outline?
Regardless, I have at least one more post in this series: my initial re-write burst from right after I woke up, mentioned at the start of this all. I haven't looked at it since starting to write all this up, so we get to see what I've improved on or forgotten about since then.
Hopefully I will be finished @symbruary by May

What is the gayest moment in Venom ( like.... in general with the comics and also movies )
OMG that is really complex to answer, but I will try my darndest
My go-to answer is automatically Marvel Presents #5's final panel, where we essentially have a fade-to-black scene of Eddie inviting Venom too.... help him.
But we also have the iconic deleted scene from Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, where Venom confesses his love for Eddie
And we haven't even mentioned the general language that is used in the comics with Eddie referring to Venom as Love, My Darling, and comparing their bond to marriage. They also state that "this is a love story" at the beginning of Venom #150
Long story short, its hard to pick just one answer because they are gay all. the. fucking. time.

Carnage Rewrite Part 3
First Previous/Next
Next are the major and side characters. Obviously we have Dan and Anne and Mrs Chen, but we’ve also got the partygoers, the police (specifically Mulligan), the Ravencroft Institute people, various inmates at both the prison and the institute.
My main desires going in to watch Carnage were that Anne and Dan remained safe and together and in character, with no jealousy/breakup plots related to their relationship. I got Some of those, but let’s see if we can knock it out of the park.
Dan: we’re gonna drop the jealousy and freaking out plot cause it sucks. Instead Dan will remain Dan the Man from the first movie. Open, trusting, kind, intelligent, competent, focused, caring, solutions-motivated, calm, and immune to romcom plots. He wants: to do right by Anne, to marry Anne, to get to know Eddie and check up on his health, for everyone to be safe, and to do his job. If we want to give him character flaws, make him somewhat clueless/naive/out of his depth for some subtle social and/or romantic subtexts and morally grey/black situations/people, and entirely lacking in street smarts. Dude’s upper class and maybe we’ll throw some autism at the wall cause it’ll stick.
Anne: remains Anne from the first movie. Focused, competent, intelligent, decisive, forward-thinking. She wants: for her relationship with Dan to work, to marry Dan, for Eddie to be okay, to rebuild a stable friendship with Eddie, to have a normal life, to do her job, for the danger to be dealt with and no longer threatening her and hers. She has a grudge agains Eddie for going behind her back, hurting her, and keeping things from her from the first movie that was never resolved and was instead reinforced by him not telling her that the symbiote was still alive at the end. She’s trying to let him back into her life but he’s still keeping secrets from her. The whole jailbreak scene in the movie was stupid, too. It outed Eddie as Venom and Anne as an accomplice and failed to use her lawyer smarts as anything but an entry device. Pathetic, when they could have broken IN and kidnapped him instead.
We can then have the following arcs: Dan builds a solid friendship with Eddie. Dan gets the confidence to propose. Anne says yes to Dan. They both provide specialized help that Eddie and Venom need. Anne and Eddie Talk and they come to an understanding about honesty and respect. Eddie agrees to rely on Anne and Dan for friendship, emotional support, logistics, and backup. Venom learns the Power of Friendship and levels it up with Anne and Dan.
So let’s start the movie a bit earlier than we do in canon and have the opening scene instead be Dan having a meal with Eddie because Eddie is important to Anne and Dan admired his moral crusades and journalistic pieces, so he’s trying to get to know him. Maybe he’s nervous and wants to propose to Anne, but isn’t sure he’s ready or if she’ll say yes.
Eddie can then be awkward as heck and sad and jealous and need to leave before Venom eats Dan. Itgives us an opportunity for the whole “get Anne back for ourselves” argument without letting Eddie blow up at Anne and ignore her agency and friendship, instead fighting against his own hurt and desires to say “no” to Venom and reluctantly declare that Dan is their friend and they don’t eat friends (or that Anne is their friend and Dan is HER friend, depending) This will tie into our Themes, and let us tie the chickens into said themes later.
Mrs Chen: I honestly don’t know what do do with Mrs Chen yet. She’s obviously going to have a spot in this movie, as she is somewhat of a fan favourite and a big part of Venom’s support system, both because she is clearly the major chocolate contributor and because she’s one of the few people that knows that it exists so that it can actually come out and interact. Other than that I’m not sure what kind of arc and influence she should have here. In canon she got a support role as the person that V would turn to in a crisis after the party, and she could hold that function here too, but she needs something of her own to add. Hit me in the comments with some ideas.
Sonny and Cher: The chickens are kind of just plopped into the movie withought much thought or follow-through. They KIND of touch on the key themes of nutrition, enrichment, and morality if you squint real hard, but we really need to double-down on that and pepper in references throughout the movie to really stick the landing. And obviously they don’t have their own arc in the movie, when they really could have. So, their arc: the chickens need enrichment, the chickens do not provide the correct type of food, the chickens are a metaphor for Venom gaining understanding of community and morality (if we get Disney in here we can have V watch a certain movie and have a “fish are friends not food” reference) and we can foreshadow Carnage by having one of the eggs hatching (one of the chickens is secretly male I guess; this could also be pulled on for hints at Symbrock if desired)
The partygoers: Venom at the party was fun, but it was kind of flat and all over the place. It was theme-adjacent, but again it just didn’t land. What we need the partygoers to be is a tie into community, enrichment, and communication. They also accept Venom far too readily, we never get any kind of “what the heck is that thing” scene, which deprives us of opportunities for V to either lie about it to try to keep secret or reveal itself to be fully accepted. He complains about Eddie and declared he’s coming out of the closet, but it’s clear that the audience does not really understand what that means (and that the symbiote has no clue what that phrase would mean to THEM) and we do not focus in enough on any of the partygoers for them to really connect and be individual characters themselves.
More importantly, this is such a missed opportinuty for learning and growth re: Venom and Eddie’s relationship. We don’t see any reason why Venom couldn’t just stay with one of the partygoers, or why it actually should/wants to be with Eddie, other than a bit of whining about missing him. And we don’t get anything constructive that it could bring to the table when it reunites with him. So to have the scene be important to their journey we need to build those things in.
The temporary hosts: These were nothing people. There was no comparison/contrast to Eddie, there was no information on what makes a good or bad host in general or for V specifically, we get no reason for why sometimes a new host is in bad shape and sometimes it’s fine (the new guy before Mrs Chen v Mrs Chen herself). This sucks, so we’ve definitely got to build on that more.
The police/detectives: I don’t remember them at all. If they’re gonna be in this movie as more than mooks then they need something to them I suppose, but like with Mrs Chen I got nothing. Thoughts?
The other inmates (asylum or prison): Now here we have an interesting opportunity to compare/contrast how Eddie & V treat their friend group and how Cletus & Carnage do. This will tie into our community and morality themes, make the parallels between the two clearer, give us a chance for some backstabbing or lack of support as a consequence of ill treatment, and allow Venom to make some of his reasons for liking Eddie and being on the antihero side clear. Friends are Not Food.
The lead psych people in Scream’s asylum: These people sucked? Was there a reason that her treatment and all were so terrible? Maybe it’s building up for something in the future, but dang. Does NOT help with the huge amount of ableist and anti-mental-healthcare biases in fiction and irl. Can we do something with that? It could easily end up a parallel to Venom’s own situation, being cooped up and lacking enrichment and all, if we kept at least some of the mistreatment. But it could also have been a decently GOOD situation for her that Cletus takes her out of, and then she and the other inmates could bring the concept of enrichment to the table for Venom to describe what it’s lacking. Unsure which would be more compelling, what do you guys think?
